GRACE & SEASONS
SEOKJIN - AUTUMN
Seokjin could see the tree from the bedroom window, the leaves slowly changing from green to a slight orange. Autumn was beginning to arrive in South Korea. It was getting to where the stifling summer heat was dwindling to that cool weather where you could go and put a light jacket on without sweating or needing a scarf like you would do in the Korean winter.
The big festival of Chuseok would be arriving in a month and just two weeks after that would be the biggest date in the Kim/Chu calendar. Finally, finally, after many days, months and years, Seokjin and Grace would tie the knot in front of their daughter, their family, their friends and the rest. The wedding of the century as it had been dubbed by Dispatch had been in full plan since last year and every little detail had been checked, double-checked and triple-checked.
The checklist had been endless and trying to plan a wedding around your career as well as a young daughter had been almost a logistical nightmare but soon the day would be here and the leaves would change from orange to red. Seokjin grinned to himself as he heard the thump of his daughter playing next door, Grace laughing as she watched and the unmistakable noise of six other men getting in on the playdate.
If autumn was going to mean anything to the couple, it would be the celebration of their little family coming together as one (even with four adopted sons and a large extended family), the Chu & Kim household now becoming the Kim household and the next BTS comeback around the corner after the couple returned from their honeymoon.
Seokjin carefully put the wedding rings away in the box that had all the important wedding documentation and closed the lid, glancing up in time to see one leaf fall from the middle of the tree. Autumn was on its way and he could hardly wait.
YOONGI - WINTER
“I hate snow,” Yoongi grumbled for the seventh time.
“You say that every winter and yet it didn’t stop you from joining the maknae line in the snow fight last year,” Grace pointed out as she pulled her scarf tighter around her.
They had decided, stupidly, that they needed to do a snack supply. The weather had been predicted by the forecasters on the TV to be very bad for the next couple of days and it was recommended that people grab what necessary groceries they needed and stay home. Seokjin, Namjoon and Hobi had done the big shop while the maknae line had stayed behind to clean up the dorm (or so they said) and Grace & Yoongi had volunteered to go and get the snacks at the 24/7 convenience store at the bottom of the road.
However, the snow started falling the moment they got to the bottom of the stairs and Yoongi, in his usual grumpiness, had declared he hated winter. He hated the cold, he hated being wet, he hated snow, he hated being cold…the usual.
“I don’t mind it, especially if we’re inside. Just think, we can make hot chocolate, turn the heating up full, watch stupid TV programmes where we can ridicule them, eat a stupid amount of food and we can grab you two bags of tangerines,” Grace added as she slipped her hands into the pockets of Jungkook’s coat.
She couldn’t even see Yoongi as he had bundled up in a puffer coat, threw on a beanie, his mask, two scarves and a long coat on top of all that. He almost waddled as he walked with how thick he looked.
“We best get tangerines otherwise this is a wasted trip,” he sighed as he pushed open the door to the store. “You are such a grouchy old man. Why did you volunteer to go?” Grace asked, following the younger man inside.
“Because I wasn’t going to be in charge of those three,” he said referring to the maknae line, as he grabbed a basket, “because that meant I wouldn’t have been able to sneak away for a nap.”
‘And there it was,’ Grace thought to herself with a smile as she found the tangerines and slipped them into the basket.
HOBI - SPRING
“Hobi, this isn’t meant to be a photoshoot,” Grace sighed but she was smiling as said it. She had been stuck under the same cherry blossom tree for half an hour, doing various poses for Hobi’s camera on his phone.
She had suggested, since they had no schedule and it was only the two of them at the dorm, to go outside and enjoy what spring had brought them - warm weather, cherry blossoms, a chance to breathe in the sunshine for once. Maybe go for some iced coffee, enjoy a walk at the local park, take in the trees and then go home. What Grace hadn’t expected was for Hobi to whip out his phone and make her stand under various trees, cherry blossom in her hair and taking what seemed to be a million pictures.
“But noona, you look pretty in spring!”
Another photo was taken.
“I thought I looked pretty in any season,” Grace remarked as she finally stepped away from the tree and back to the path where the bodyguard was waiting, handing over her iced coffee where the ice cubes had melted in the warm breeze.
“Well you do, but you look prettier in spring,” Hobi said as he joined his noona on the path again and dropped his arm over her shoulders. “It makes you look brighter.”
She wasn’t sure if she should take that as a compliment or an insult but in the end, decided to take it as neither. The walk back took longer as she took photos of him as requested, his own unique sunshine shining through each one.
NAMJOON - SUMMER
There was a certain innocence that came with Namjoon.
Whether it was his intelligence, his love of nature, how he couldn’t cook, his clumsiness, his love of riding his bike or just simply sitting and listening to the sounds of Korea on a summer day, there were just times that Grace looked at him and saw him for the young man he really was.
There was a four-year difference between the two and though there was a bit of a small complication as he was technically her leader and she was technically his noona, there still seemed to be that innocence and shyness from that teenager who knocked on her office door. And she could see that as she watched him from where she sat on the towel, his feet in the sand as he searched for his crabs.
She snorted to herself with amusement as he found what he was looking for, first showing it to Hobi who all but screamed and ran away as did Seokjin. But Namjoon paid them no mind as he ambled his way across the sand to show her what was in the palm of his hand.
“Only you could be looking for crabs on a day off,” Grace grinned as she glanced at the crab then frowned when she realised Namjoon had been wandering around with no sunscreen on. “For god sake Joon,” she sighed as she grabbed the bottle and made him sit down in front of her, listening to him reel off fact after fact about the crab in his hand.
JIMIN - SUMMER
Jimin sighed as he looked out the window of their dorm. It was meant to be summer in Seoul and he had planned to go out, to go and enjoy the hot weather and the sun and relax on what little time off he had. Everyone had been the same as it was rare to get a day off in the middle of summer but it seemed the monsoon season had arrived with a vengeance.
“I don’t think it’s going to stop anytime soon,” Grace said as she closed the front door behind her, shaking off her boots and raincoat. It was hot and sticky outside and the rain was warm as well, even if it was pounding on the pavement. She knew how much Jimin had wanted to go out and enjoy his time off but the rain had washed out those plans and now he was stuck at home, just like the rest of the boys who had disappeared to various parts of the dorm or the studio.
“Come on chim, I’ve got a plan,” she said as she headed to the kitchen. “Go and grab a blanket from the closet and throw it on the floor.”
He had no idea what his noona was up to but ever the obliging dongsaeng, Jimin did what he was told. With a bit of care, he pushed the coffee table out of the way and spread the blanket across the floor.
“Here we go,” Grace said as she came over with what seemed to be a platter. On it were strawberries, blueberries and other summer fruits as well as whipped cream, traditional British scones that her mother had made as well as a teapot full of tea. She placed it on the blanket and handed Jimin a teacup.
“Noona, what are we doing?”
“We are going to enjoy a traditional pastime of British people - cream tea. That’s a scone, I’ll show you the proper way of eating it in a moment but pass me the remote.”
Once it was in her hand, she flicked the TV on and went to YouTube and found the Wimbledon channel where they could watch full replays of the tennis tournament. Grace couldn’t take Jimin to London and she couldn’t take him out in monsoon weather but she could at least treat him to a British summer time.
TAEHYUNG - WINTER
Christmas isn’t a big thing in Korea as it is in the US or the UK. But every year, without fail, Taehyung watched as Grace decorated the dorm. At the start, it had been cheap decorations and a small tree but now they were in the bigger dorm, Grace had gone all out.
There was a large artificial tree in the corner near the TV, that was taller than Namjoon, and three large plastic boxes on the floor near it. He could hear the sounds of Bing Crosby coming from the speaker in the kitchen and the unmistakable smell of gingerbread. Grace was fully in her Christmas mode - gingerbread men, roast dinners, the sound of wrapping paper being cut and the little bit of cursing when the sellotape didn’t behave.
It was something Taehyung looked forward to every year.
This year, he had been put in charge of starting to decorate the tree. He was taller than Grace, even if he did have to use the ladder to reach the top, and he accepted the bauble from Grace as she had unpacked it and handed it up to him.
“Do we put a star, ribbon or Santa’s hat at the top?” Grace asked as she pulled the three items from the box and held them up for Taehyung to see. Long fingers carefully slid the red glass bauble on the branch and once it was secure, Taehyung glanced down. He hoped that this would be a tradition for the two of them every year, even when they eventually lived their separate lives in their own separate places. It had become something that Taehyung planned for the moment December arrived.
“I think star this year, noona. It matches the star lights you bought for the kitchen.”
“Ah see, this is why you and I do this. You and your impeccable taste.”
JUNGKOOK - AUTUMN
He was born in autumn.
September 1st.
He knows the season better than anyone - the cooler weather, the Chuseok celebrations, seeing family, the changing of the leaves, how the t-shirts are swapped for jumpers and hoodies. There were traditions the Jeon family had when he was back home in Busan with his parents and older brother but none of them had followed as he moved to Seoul as a teenager to be a member of BTS.
He was 21 now. The clock had officially turned over to September 1st and Autumn had already arrived in Seoul.
They had the Seo Taijin’s 25th-anniversary concert tomorrow and had been up late practising as well as early celebrating Junkook’s birthday. Yet for the young adult, sleep wasn’t coming so easily. 21 years was nothing in Korea - there was no big celebration other than ‘yay! You turned 21.’ 19 was the year you were an adult in the eyes of the government. So simple celebrations had to be had for 21 year old and he knew his noona wanted to go all out but with time restrictions, it just wasn’t going to happen.
Jungkook stared at the clock as it ticked over to 1am. It was officially September 1st, it was his birthday.
The door to the room clicked open quietly and Jungkook watched in the darkness as his noona slipped inside, already a large bag of presents in her hands as she made her way to his bed. “Happy birthday,” she whispered. She knew he was awake, she always knew. Gentle hands ran through his hair and it made him miss his mother. Yet his mother, in nearly every sense of the word, was next to him as she comforted him while trying to get him to sleep.
And as autumn ticked by another day, Jungkook would wake up to his family, to his adopted mother, coming in to sing him Happy Birthday.

GOTCHA! [Prologue]
This is a Genshin Impact x Pokemon crossover. I'll be using an Original character for the main protagonist, instead of the usual X reader or Y/n prompt. But feel free to change her name to yours if you want.
✧─── ・ 。゚★: *.✦ .* :★. ───✧
"I know you don't like it that much, but I promise it'll only take a few minutes"
A woman wearing a lab coat reassured, petting the creature on the head. It only let out a small grunt, not at all looking forward to what was awaiting him later.
"Come on Mudbray, don't give me that look" She chuckled, finding the Pokemon's annoyance amusing.
"We both know that checkups are mandatory, and yes that includes dental"
She reminded, looking at her checklist as she counted all the Pokemon who were due for their Monthly check-ups. She lets a small flock of Pikipek land on her head and shoulders, curious to see what the Trainer was doing.
"I also need to give your homes a good spring cleaning" She said counting all the Pokeballs that were all safely secured together inside a container.
They were placed there temporarily for the night, She already got started cleaning some of their Habitats, so that once she's finished doing everyone's Checkups tomorrow morning they'll be free to go back to their freshly cleaned homes.
"It's only for one night, I'll even start with you and your friends first thing tomorrow. once I'm done you can eat as much mud as you want"
She says putting away the checklist once she realizes that all the Pokemon that she needed were already inside their respective pokeballs.
"Come on bud, please?" She pouted trying her best to give him the puppy dog eyes as she offered his pokeball to him.
Mudbray gave her a look of un-amusement, clearly not looking forward to another Dental check-up tomorrow. It was basically routine around here, they've done this plenty of times for years, but that doesn't mean he'll get used to it anytime soon.
"For me?"
Oh for the love of Arceus.
Mudbray only let out a defeated sigh before he carefully booped his snout against the ball's surface.
Causing the small device to open, surrounding the Pokemon with a familiar light before letting him inside.
The Trainer showed a small smile of gratitude, giving the round device a small kiss, before putting it with the others.
"Alright guys, it's time to go back"
She says turning to the flock of Pikipek, she approaches the door and slides it open, revealing a familiar Pokemon sanctuary on the other side.
She watches them bid her a goodnight before flying out of the building, which she made as her personal Pokemon center.
She double-checked everything to see if they were in order, she gave her checklist one last look before placing it down.
"Guess that's it" She muttered to herself, grabbing the container of Pokeballs she approached the exit only to stop mid-step, she chuckles as she looked over her shoulder.
"Wanna come with?"she asks staring at one of the curtains where a certain Pokemon was hiding.
A Rowlet, a new member of their big family flinches, peeking his head out of the curtains, letting out a sheepish Hoot before flying over to her.
she grinned letting him land on her shoulder before she proceeded to climb up the ladder that leads outside, the woman could be seen exiting out a maroon-colored backpack, leading to one of the cabins she rented out.
"I see that you guys are getting comfortable" She says, seeing her Team making themselves at home inside the room, some were laying on her bed.
some of them greeted her while some were already asleep.
Rowlet made himself known by flying around the room, greeting everyone excitedly, before deciding to settle himself on top of the headboard on the bed.
"Good to see you feeling better Rowlet" She giggles, placing the container of Pokeballs on her bedside table.
Rowlet is a new member of their family, Mavis found him two weeks ago, He got into a fight with a Bellsprout over a Berry and ended up getting poisoned. Mavis took him in and took care of him since then.
"Guess I should get ready for bed too"
She yawned, she stretched her arms, before grabbing her lab coat, wanting to change into her night wear before joining the other on the bed.
but before she could even take it off, she was interrupted by the ground shaking aggressively. She lets out a small shriek, grabbing a hold of a table to keep herself steady.
The rest of her team immediately perked up, sensing Danger as the ground continued to shake.
"What's Happening?!" She yells, glancing out the window to see frequent lights flashing in the distance.
She flinches when she hears an ear-piercing roar, forcing her to cover her ears in an attempt to not let her eardrums pop.
She tried to get a good look outside, but she couldn't focus, whatever was causing the Earthquake was too far away for her to see, she saw a few people running out of their Cabins to check out the commotion.
Mavis struggled to go to the door, wanting to check for herself but before she could grab the doorknob, she felt as if she was slowly sinking down.
She gasped, looking down to see the ground turning into this giant vortex that took up all the space in the room.
She could only watch as it began to suck in everything in the room, including herself and her Pokemon.
"No, no, no, Wait!" She cried out, panicking on what to do as her Team called out for her, only for each of them to get pulled into different directions.
she looks around, her heart dropping at the sight of the Container in the process of getting sucked in as well.
She grunts, using a table to boast herself towards it, she desperately reaches for it as it continued to float away.
She felt a spark of relief when she managed to get a hold of it, but it was immediately interrupted by Rowlet letting out a panicked cry, flying towards his Trainer, Tackling her just in time before the bed could hit her.
but in the process, she accidentally lets go of the Container.
"No!"
She shouted, watching as the container hit the bed's edge, forcing it open, spilling all the Pokeballs in different directions.
Mavis held into Rowlet, feeling herself get sucked into another smaller vortex.
That's the prologue done, it's only an introduction so far but it has important information on it, I'll make the actual chapters longer in the future.
If you are interested in the story, feel free to Follow me! To keep yourself updated on the future chapters.
I hope you'll give this story a chance, I really enjoyed writing it, feel free to comment I want to read your thoughts.

Day 13 - Flood
Someone on a whump server I'm in wanted to see this!! Here you go Tonkin!! Also omg this is the longest Whumptober I've done, no wonder it took me so long to finish at 3.2k words.
Ping list: @ailesswhumptober, @whumperofworlds, @whump-captain, @whumpbees
TWs: Starvation, self-sacrifice, environmental whump, disordered eating, lost in the woods
"Hm." Mariano frowned, watching the river rushing past. A freak storm had swept in late in the previous night, turning the creek from a pleasant wading experience into something that would be dangerous to cross. It hadn't even stopped raining, yet. "No, we're not getting across that until it settles down."
Jeremy, the next most experienced camper of the group crossed his arms, sighing. "That's what I was afraid of. That was our one way out." He bit his lip, looking back towards Mariano and then towards where the other two men of their group were huddled by the fire. "And we don't have much food left. Maybe...enough for tomorrow. No signal to call for help, either."
Mariano followed his gaze before looking Jeremy over. Blond, late twenties, he worked in finance and had a wife and a miniature poodle. Hiking and camping were his biggest hobbies. The others weren’t much different.
He'd make sure they all made it home.
"That's alright. I know how to fish, and clean a catch." Mariano said, rolling his shoulders as they started to walk back to the others. Bastian was out of town too, so they were truly stranded. "Plus I always bring extra supplies, just in case."
Jeremy's eyes lit up. "Really?" He asked, relief flooding his voice. "God, you're a lifesaver."
Mariano laughed, shrugging. "I'm just paranoid. I'd rather have stuff and not need it."
It wasn't great breaking the news that they were stranded for at least another day or two, but the others seemed relieved when Mariano said he'd brought extra supplies. "Rice, nutrition bars, some canned tuna..." He listed off the food as he rifled through his emergency bag, tucked away in the corner of his tent. "And some bleach, to purify water in case we can't boil it for some reason. I can probably forage some stuff too, plenty of oaks around for mushrooms."
"Jesus, you really do know your stuff." Marcus looked at Jeremy, grinning.
"I see why you were so relaxed about coming up here." Brent said, nodding in agreement.
"We'll need to cut down to one meal each a day, but this will keep us going." Jeremy said.
The two of them continued chatting as Mariano packed away his supplies. He took a long breath, held it, then let it out. This was going to be the best he'd feel until they got out. It was going to be a long few days.
-
The first day was the worst. Mariano knew it would be. He awoke that morning to the drizzle of rain and the expected hunger pangs. All he could do was sit up and drink from his water bottle.
He needed to skip his meal of the day. That was fine. The other men weren't used to pushing through starvation, and once the initial hunger settled then he'd be mostly alright.
The checklist for the first day was blessedly simple, at least. Mariano needed to check on their water source, then possibly locate another that they could boil and sanitize if the first became inaccessible. He needed to see what was edible in the area. Then, he needed to rest.
If he could figure out the best paths to everything they needed, then if they were trapped for longer than expected the others could follow his directions to get to their resources.
-
Mariano grimaced as he followed his markers towards the back-up water source. He felt too light on his feet as he made his way up the hill to the little, crisp spring he'd found. The gallon water bottle he kept with his supplies made a decent water transport, even if it felt heavy in his clumsy fingers.
It was only day two.
Luis would be disappointed.
Mariano grimaced as he filled the bottle, struggling to cap it again. He used to be able to go days without eating without his hands shaking so badly. He was getting soft. He couldn't be getting soft while the others were relying on him--two days was nothing.
He set the water on to boil when he got back to camp. A can of cold tuna and a nutrition bar each wasn't going to be tasty, but the other men would be able to keep going a little bit longer with the extra carbs. He slipped his own bar into his pocket "for later".
If someone else needed it, he'd be glad he had it.
-
Mariano grimaced as he stumbled through the trees, foraging guide in hand. The only thing he was truly confident in picking were chicken of the woods, but luckily there were plenty of oak trees around. He felt the ground subtly swaying under his feet as he steadied himself.
It was fine. If he did a good enough job then they'd all be able to eat comfortably until they left. Brent had a cast iron skillet, and it would be easy enough to boil some rice and cook the mushrooms to make something halfway decent.
An hour into his slow foraging, Mariano saw it: the peachy shelves of their salvation growing on an old oak tree. Tears started at his eyes as he rushed forward, tugging the laminated guide from his pocket. The color was right, the caps were right, this was the right environment and there were no deadly lookalikes. Carefully, with shaking hands, Mariano opened up his pocket knife and began slicing off the mushrooms.
He loaded down his arms, resorting to using the front of his hoodie as a makeshift basket to carry the chicken of the woods in. It took him twice as long to get back to camp, but he was greeted with three delighted faces when he sat down with the spoils. Brent started cleaning and cooking the mushrooms while Mariano laid down for a nap.
When he was shaken awake again for dinner, it took everything he had to not lick his bowl of rice and mushrooms clean. There would be more, Mariano reminded himself. Brent had stored what he didn't cook for the next day's breakfast and lunch.
They had food now.
They would be okay.
-
"What happened?!" The shout woke Mariano, who needed to take a moment to let the world stop spinning once he'd sat up. Brent sounded furious.
Dread settled into Mariano's stomach.
He crawled out of his tent to see Brent hastily rummaging through the bags that they'd kept the food in. Jeremy watched in concern, as Marcus wringed his hands. All that remained was some uncooked rice and a few cans of tuna. "We had way more than this last night, what the fuck happened?" Brent demanded.
Silence settled over the group, oppressive and heavy.
"Speak up. What happened to all the food?" He repeated. "There aren't any tracks around. Who ate it?"
Marcus looked away. Jeremy had started to tear up. Mariano didn't need the training he had to have an idea about who had done it.
"Brent." He started, crawling out and getting to his feet. The meager meal from the night before had already been spent by his body and he was ravenous again. "Yelling won't help anything. The food is already gone, we'd be better off spending our energy making a--"
Mariano was cut off by a fist slamming into his jaw. Jeremy's horrified noise was drowned out by Brent's fury as he roared and swung again. The second punch connected too, but Mariano managed to snag his wrists before a third could land.
"It was you!" Brent snarled, fury in his bright eyes. "You did it, that's why you're so calm right now--"
Mariano used his grip to slam Brent up against a tree. "Shut up." He didn't growl as he pinned Brent's wrists with one hand and got his other palm pressed to his chest. He spoke low and quiet, his own anger burning just as cold as Luis always liked. "Be quiet, Brent."
Brent didn't struggle, all his vitriol gone. Mariano knew his grip was bruising. He knew he loomed and filled Brent's whole world right then. "I'm calm because I know what to do. This isn't my first time going through something like this." Brent swallowed as Mariano continued. "Spending your energy yelling and fighting won't help anyone. Not when we could split up to forage and fish."
He released Brent all at once and reached into his hoodie pocket. He shoved the nutrition bar into Brent's hands. "I saved mine two days ago. Take it and settle down."
Jeremy offered Mariano worried words and gentle hands as he walked back to the sheltered fire pit. Marcus didn't say anything. He grabbed the fishing rod, though, and crept away. Jeremy insisted on Mariano sitting to rest while he went to try his hand at foraging.
Neither Mariano nor Brent uttered a word to each other while they were alone.
When Marcus came back with two small fish, though, Brent muttered an apology. Mariano sat at the firepit, cleaning their tiny dinner as water for more rice and soup boiled away. He shook his head.
"Hunger does things to you." Mariano said, handing the first carcass over. "We trained for this sort of situation when I was in the military."
"How long...?" Brent ventured to ask, the question dying between them.
"My record was ten days with only water." Mariano started scaling the other fish. "But I was nineteen back then, a much younger, stronger man. Fewer greys." Mariano laughed, gently, and Brent laughed with him.
"Could've fooled me." Brent said, just as softly. "Felt like I'd fucked with a bear or something when you pinned me. Gotta show me your workout routine."
"I will, I will." Mariano said, giving him a small smile. "After we've gotten home, eaten, and slept for a week."
The atmosphere eased, and even though Jeremy had been unsuccessful, by the time the others gathered to eat things were back to normal. Mariano managed to get down a few bites of rice before giving the rest of his share to the others. His head just ached too much to keep down more food than that.
The light drizzle had stopped by the time Mariano managed to doze off.
-
Mariano's eyes were heavy by the fifth day. His head was filled with cotton and ached horribly. He hadn't slept meaningfully, but there was no point in getting up.
Mariano could smell the unsalted rice boiling. It made his jaw ache. He swallowed down saliva, nausea roaring loud and hot in his stomach. It was the worst thing he'd ever smelled, and the best. He wanted to eat the whole pot.
He would never do that to them.
"Mariano!" Jeremy's voice raked through his skull and he groaned. The man ducked into his tent. "Mariano, come look at the river with me."
Mariano scrubbed at his eyes with his sleeve before slowly getting to his hands and knees. "Yeah...yeah I can do that." He said.
When he finally looked at Jeremy, he saw worry etched into the man's brow. "Whoa...you're looking a little sick. Are you okay?"
Mariano waved a hand in the air as he crawled towards the flap of his tent. "I just have a headache." He said, blinking hard in the sunlight.
Jeremy hummed and muttered some sincere sympathy. He offered Mariano his jacket to drape over his head to help block out some of the sun. They walked the short distance to the creek.
Still too high, still too fast.
Mariano shook his head. "It would need to be lower...at least down to our knees for us to cross safely."
Jeremy bit his lip. "Do you...will it go down in time for us to get out of here? Rationing like we are, we still only have enough food for another day or two."
Mariano looked up at the clouds, then down at the water. "In this sort of place it usually only takes a few days after rain stops for the creeks to calm down. We...we won't be comfortable, but we'll be able to leave."
Jeremy let out a sigh of relief so great that Mariano almost felt like the short trek had been worth it. He moderated his breathing anyway until he was back in his tent, collapsing onto his sleeping bag again.
He was chilled. He was hungry. He couldn't sleep.
Mariano took a drink from his water bottle before he crawled out. He crumpled up the now-empty rice bag and stored it with the rest of their trash. It was easy to assure the others that he would watch the rice while they tried to find more mushrooms. Marcus knew what to look for, and he swore to only collect chicken of the woods.
Mariano said he'd already eaten his share when they got back, empty-handed.
They believed him.
-
Day six brought a stubborn, but improved, creek and an unsuccessful foraging session. Jeremy lost their fishing pole in the river and cried. Mariano talked him through it.
"I don't want to die here." Jeremy sniffled, and Mariano shook his head. It sent the world spinning off of its axis. He didn't sway where he sat.
"I won't let you die here." Mariano said. "Everyone is going home, even if we feel terrible on the way there."
Jeremy had reached for his hand. Mariano didn't deny him. It was easier to quell the shaking, right then.
Mariano watched them divvy up the pack of tuna cans. One each. It was the last of their food.
He squirreled his away in the corner of his tent when he retreated from the smell of the fish cooking. Stomach churning, he hid it under a discarded shirt that he usually wrapped his hair in at night. It would be a surprise for tomorrow. The others would have a little more protein to get them through the day.
He didn't need it.
Mariano lowered himself down onto his sleeping bag and dozed, the persistent headache he'd had keeping him from fully falling under.
-
"Mariano?" Someone was there. Someone was patting his face. "No--he's breathing, look." What was going on?
Mariano managed to get his eyes open. Midday sun streamed in through the flap of his tent. Marcus and Jeremy hovered over him. Brent was crouched just behind them at the opening, the tent far too small for everyone to fit inside.
"What...?" His thoughts were sluggish, struggling to catch up with everything. The light was too bright. It felt like he was floating.
"Thank goodness," Marcus said, relief washing over his face. "We've been trying to wake you up for a few minutes now. The creek is good and low, and we're mostly packed up. Your stuff is all that's left."
Mariano felt hope soar in his chest. All he had to do was help pack up and then hike the two miles to the trailhead. Easy. He'd done this when he was younger on even less food.
"Good...good. That's perfect." His usual lack of intonation seemed amplified. The others shared a look between themselves.
Mariano sat up and fumbled for his glasses, his arms almost giving out as he got to his hands and knees. “Whoa!” Jeremy jumped to keep Mariano from falling on his face, arms looping around his waist to help him sit. “Hey, you’ve been looking bad for the last few days. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing bad.” Mariano said, blinking hard as he got his glasses perched on his nose. “Wanted to help extend the food, since I didn’t bring that much.”
“What?” Jeremy asked.
“You didn’t.” Brent cut in, voice low. “You have not been fucking starving yourself this whole time.”
Everyone looked at Mariano, and he couldn’t read their expressions. “Not the whole time.” He said, leaning into Jeremy more. “I ate the mushrooms and rice. And that can of tuna a few days ago.”
Marcus reached out and slapped him before anyone could stop him. “What the fuck–?!”
Mariano was glad that he still had the brain to glare at him when his head stopped spinning. Before Jeremy could say anything, Mariano spoke up again. “If I’d been eating we…we would’ve run out of food days ago. You three are still pretty okay, and I can walk with help. I…I knew that I couldn’t have carried everyone down. Survival over comfort.”
Silence fell hard and fast in the tent.
“You’re an idiot…” Marcus muttered, not able to hold eye contact with Mariano. “I’m not going to thank you for that.”
“Marcus is just–worried.” Jeremy cut in. “We can pack up and get going in a few, since you’re awake now. C’mon, let me help you outside.”
“I can–” Mariano tried, only to be swatted by Marcus again.
“Shut up, you’re not doing anything. You look like you’ll faint if you try to stand.” Brent said, extending his arms to take Mariano from Jeremy.
He hated to admit it, but Mariano felt immeasurable relief at the idea of not having to pack up his things. While he was sitting outside, the world gently swaying under him, he listened to the quiet, exasperated chatter of the three working together. It was relaxing, and before long they were emerging with packed bags in hand.
A little can was shoved into Mariano’s hands and opened. “We found this in your tent, dumbass. Eat.” Brent said, and Mariano realized that it was the can of tuna he’d saved.
“This was supposed to be for breakfast, I thought that you three–” Mariano started, before Brent pressed it harder into his grip.
“No. We’ll be okay until we can hit some burger place. You’ve had almost nothing. Eat.”
The growl settled something in Mariano’s chest, and he nodded. “...Alright. Okay.” When he bit into the first cold bit of fish, it tasted like the best thing he’d ever eaten. Just that little portion felt lifesaving, it felt like his joints wouldn’t fall apart quite so easily if he did too much.
Soon enough the tents were all packed away, the bags were ready to be carried, and Mariano had one of Jeremy’s arms around his waist as they started crossing the stream. The ground felt unsteady, and they still almost slipped a few times on the riverbed–they would’ve never made it across when it was higher and faster.
By the time they arrived back at their two cars Mariano was leaning heavily on Jeremy. He couldn’t catch his breath or keep his eyes open. The “thank you” he mumbled wasn’t nearly as clear as he would’ve preferred as he was helped into the passenger seat.
“I know you said you don’t need a hospital, but…I think it might be a good idea to go anyway.” Jeremy said, starting his car and following Brent's down the road. “You know, so we can all get checked out and charge our phones. I’m sure Miranda isn’t terribly happy that our group went missing for a week.”
Mariano sighed and nodded. “Okay, okay…hospital it is.” He knew when he was defeated, but he also knew that it was okay. He could rest. The others had things handled from here.

5 Agere Activities for a Rainy Day (Indoors Edition)
Ciao lovelies! We’re moving into spring here where I am, and with the spring, comes LOTS of rain. There are many outside ideas to do for agere, (and yes, even some rainy day ones!) but today, I’d like to share 5 of my favorite agere activities to do on a rainy day, or on days where I can’t go outside (snow, too hot, etc.)..
All of the ideas I’m sharing today are my personal faves!
Idea #1: Change your doll’s (or stuffies!) outfits….or make them some outfits!
Super old pic, I know (I have wayyy different hair now, lol), but this idea is still one of my faves. Picking new outfits for my dolls is always super fun and sometimes I even have a mini photoshoot with them after changing their looks. I can also turn this idea into a full afternoon of play by setting up a “doll salon” to select their looks and they each get a spray of choice perfumes and hair brushes :)
If you don’t have clothes for your dolls/stuffies, you can also make them clothing or accessories! I’m aiming to put some tutorials of that sort on the blog and possibly on the Youtube channel soon, but for now, here’s some tutorials that I have already made to get you started:
youtube
youtube

youtube
There are many fun and simple methods for making doll clothing or accessories, I once again have to highly recommend MyFroggyStuff’s Youtube channel for this! She has awesome ideas and she makes it all seem so easy.
Idea #2: Take a fun Bubble Bath!
Taking a fun and relaxing bath is a nice way to both regress, and practice self-care! You can find cute bath toys like these at dollar stores, and bath bombs, bubble bath, bath fizzies, etc as well! I even love buying the “bath puppets” which are just washcloths that go on your hands like a puppet, and are shaped like animals! I have a sharkie and a froggie. When I take baths or showers, I like to imagine going through a checklist with my scrubby buddy (most often Mr Sharkie) to make sure I get 1000000% clean! Sometimes I even make a little song of this and hum it to myself. :)
It’s also nice having access to fun body washes and soap! My current favorite body wash is scented from “Viva las Vegas SWEET” which is some kind of perfume thing, but it smells like candy, and it looks cute out of the tube! (it’s pink and shimmery 0.0)
I’ve also seen body washes for babyshark, Barbie, and other kids franchises! Oh, and even some grown-ups products are still cute for this too! I have a Hello Kitty sugar scrub that was intended for grown-ups, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t cute anyway! :) Oh, and Crayola makes body wash “crayons” as well, the tubes are crayon shaped and the body washes are colorful!
Okie, okie, that’s a lot of me rambling about baths, sorry >.<
Idea #3: Play Video Games!
Sometimes there’s nothing better than wearing comfy clothes, having a nice snack, and playing video games! On rainy days this activity feels super cozy and wonderful, and there are lots of games out there that are cute and good for agere!
My current faves are Animal Crossing New Horizons on my Switch, Sandbox Coloring App on my phone, Nintendogs on my 3Ds, and Minecraft on my PC! I love that games are on a lot of different devices, so that I can always find something to do~
I think Animal Crossing is a really cool game for age regressors, and the New Horizons one is very cute for a lot of reasons! I can dress my avatar up in cute fashions and i can even buy…..pacis! and…..Cute kawaii dresses!!! :0 You could make your dream agere outfits in this game, and i do it all the time, tbh!
Idea #4: Journaling or Writing in a Diary!
I love love love my regression journal! I use stickers, washi tape, coloring pages, crayons, markers, and more on it, and it’s really freeing to have a journal that doesn’t need to be neat or tidy. My daily journal is also my regression journal, as I am someone who is semi-regressed all the time! :3 I also do vent journal entries in this journal (to share with my therapist), and lists, collages, doodles, info pages…lots of things!
I have an article on here actually about Agere Journaling!
I also want to briefly ramble about my stickers, I have found 2 really good sources of stickers for my journal. The first is a subscription service called Stickii, which sends you a themed sticker pack every month, these packs include stickers from lots of independent artists and I really love each one I’ve gotten so far (I’ve gotten 2 so far.) **DISCLAIMER: I am not sponsored or affiliated with this brand, I just wanted to give a personal recommendation!
The second is Blippo Kawaii Shop, which sells sticker mystery bags which I have an opening video of on OFT’s IG! :) I love their selection of kawaii stickers, and it’s always fun getting a package from them. Also… once again: **DISCLAIMER: I am not sponsored or affiliated with this brand, I just wanted to give a personal recommendation!
Idea #5: Play with Legos or building blocks!
Something that I love doing when I am small is playing with building blocks or legos! I like the Minecraft sets or the dollar store legos! :) I use the legos to build things for my mini town and dollhouse, as well as make dollrooms! :)
Megablocks have larger blocks as well if you regress younger and want something more simple. Also… once again: **DISCLAIMER: I am not sponsored or affiliated with this brand, I just wanted to give a personal recommendation!
You can use building blocks to make obstacle courses for your minis, specific types of buildings for playing pretend, mecha robots for epic battles…….>.<’ sorry my brain totally went to gundam XD
They also sell building block sets for making iconic characters like pikachu and other pokemon, as well as other anime and game characters! I think this type of block is called a nano block.
CONCLUSION:
What do you think of these 5 agere activities for a rainy day? What activities are your favorite when small? Let me know in the comments, I love hearing from you lovelies and having great discussions!
And now for the most important thing in this outro…..I get to say……
STAY AWESOME!! You are awesome, just as you are, and you should look at yourself with love and kindness. Don’t forget to love yourself, whether you practice self-care, treat yourself, or take care of your future self by getting a task done ahead of time, self love is important!
Okie, all my ramblings aside, see you in my next post, video, or whatever comes next!

I’ll do a little spring cleaning around this blog tomorrow now that I’m feeling more mentally alive. It’s a little claustrophobic as far as blogs go (and as much as I’d like to I can’t really just move to a new blog to start fresh haha), and I’m starting to feel pressure around it so I need to fix it.
A lot of people I had stories going with have moved to greener pastures, and a lot of new friends have popped up to form new stories with. So I would like to clean out my thread tracker and make use of it.
So here’s a checklist for myself :
Make new tags for connections and stories
Refresh my tags
Redo my rules page bc I can’t be bothered with trying to conform I don’t haaaave rules…
Put the threads in the thread tracker
Nap
Do some asks
#|| behind the curtain ||#my vacation blog sings to me#it’s nice writing someone with such a contrast to Kuja#but Kuja never gets his claws out of me#it’s also nice and quiet over there#less pressure in ways#and that’s how I know I have to switch the blog here up#when I start to feel pressure#in a hobby#it has to change

Spring Equinox
The spring equinox takes place between March 19 and March 22. That may be the official date, but when does spring really start? When do you begin to notice that it's spring?
As we come into spring we start to notice things. Leaves growing back on the trees, birds coming back again, bugs starting to come out, maybe even flowers sprouting. But the weather is still quite cold, and we may think, Is it spring already?
I began to notice the incoming spring at the beginning of March. Birds were out rustling in the trees, butterflies, wasps, and bees came out, and my young blackberry bush began to sprout leaves. The weather also got about 10 degrees warmer. For me, this was the start of spring. But I still choose the celebrate the equinox on the official date. Why? Because I always have, and because it gives me to prepare.
And that's what the spring equinox is all about. Preparing to take action towards the goals you set during the winter. It's a time of sowing seeds, literally and metaphorically.
How Can You Celebrate The Spring Equinox?
Sow your seeds
Literally: plant the fruits, veggies, herbs, flowers, or whatever else it is you plan to grow this season. Get your hands in the dirt and connect with the earth and the new spring time.
Metaphorically: Set the intentions you have for this coming season. Quarterly goals are great for all areas of life. What goals do you want to accomplish in the next 3 months? Make a plan for what you're going to do to accomplish them. You might chose to keep your goals aligned with the spring season. In this case, here are some ideas:
~ New ideas and projects. That new art project you see in your mind, or that new business idea you've been dreaming up. Maybe someone asked you to collaborate on an idea, now is a time to say yes.
~ Growth. Personal, business, family, any goal you have that involves something growing and/or improving.
~ Gardening. Maybe you want to start a small garden, or add a new plant to an existing one.
~ Community. Litter clean up projects, community gardening projects, fundraisers for causes around your area. Spring is a good time to bring the community together.
Have a picnic or cookout with family and/or friends
Celebrate the spring time with your family and/or friends. Cook or bake some foods that are in season at this time and enjoy the weather together. You can find tons of lists with a quick search about what foods are in season. You can also visit a local farmers market if possible!
Spring cleaning
This is definitely one you hear all the time, but it's a good one! What better way to bring in the new season than getting rid of the dust and clutter from the previous? Here are some ideas:
~Physically clean your area. Your house, your yard, or even just your bedroom. Make a project of it if you'd rather. Pick a different area to clean each day, or whatever time block works best for you. Write them down on a checklist with the day you plan them, and check them off when you've done them. This will actually help you stay motivated for it too, every time you check one off the list.
~ Cleanse your area. Whether it be with smoke, sound, crystals, words, or whatever other method you choose to use.
~ Switch up or tidy up your altar if you have one.
~ Clean out your inbox. Emails, text messages, social media notifications, clean out everything you don't need. Unfollow those people who mess up your feed, block those negative messages, unsubscribe from unwanted emails.
Spend some time outside. Go on a hike, watch the sunrise or sunset, visit a local park. Stargaze after dark, look for constellations and planets. There's a couple of good apps that help with this, Skyview and Stellarium. I personally use Stellarium.
Do some magic. Spring is a great time to do manifestation, workings around friendship, love, and community, workings to bring in abundance and wealth, workings for health, and workings to aid in personal growth. I'll be posting one of my favorite spring time workings soon!
Give spring time offerings to the deities and spirits you work with. Flowers, leaves, acorns, honey, fresh fruits, baked goods, milk, spring inspired art.
These are just a few ideas that come from my view of spring. I encourage everyone to look at how they view the spring time and figure out what works for them!

hi! do you take weekends off from phd work ? x
Yes and no. I should also take more time off. Since I've been in France, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday have been days that I do not expect to do dissertation work but will do it if necessary. Academic work, yes-ish.
Saturdays are for sightseeing - I made good use of the student card my school gave me, as well as the fact I was until recently 26, which got me into some museums for free/reduced price. The likelihood of me wanting to do work is often pretty low after this.
Sunday is often the day that I clean the apartment and call my parents. I also do some or all of my groceries this day.
Monday is the day that most of the libraries I use are closed or open in the afternoon, so I really don't bother. It's my laundry day and sometimes my grocery day. It's also the day I meet with my advisor, so I don't usually work on my dissertation that day, simply because his comments may change what I want to do/work on. I do not do any work post-meeting either, just note things down to work on for the next day.
All of that exists in an ideal world where I lounge luxuriously after all that.
My checklists reflect the fact I'm doing some sort of work on the weekend - or planning to. As I've written a large portion of my dissertation by now, I've started taking my weekends and making them times for me to work on non-dissertation stuff - my conference paper(s), applications, the article that i really need to write.
During the week (T-F), I typically tend to be working between 8 or 9am and about 4 or 5pm. I don't do work after dinner unless it's urgent. This more reflects a "real job", which I think is pretty good, honestly. On weekends (including Monday), when I work it's probably close to about 4 hours per day at absolute most, and more likely far less than that. (It's worth noting that while these hours are 'typical' there are plenty of days where I work in the morning, it goes poorly, and then I call it a day around lunch because beating my head against a wall isn't worth it)
Is what I do healthy? I personally don't feel overwhelmed by it, and continuity of doing something work-ish helps me stay in the rhythm of things. If I take a day to do nothing academics related, it's absolutely fine. I have time for friends as well! Yay!
When I was in classes/teaching/writing my prospectus/writing a conference paper in the spring of last year, I was overwhelmed and essentially working all of the time except for Saturday and Sunday mornings, so this is a massive improvement.
When I started grad school, it was 2020 so all I really could do was sit in my apartment and read for class (this was not all I did, fear not), which I got used to as a 'normal' approach to work. Since then, I've been trying to establish (slowly) some sort of work-life balance, and this year has been a lot better for my stress levels.
#my answers#i am NOT a good example of healthy work-life balance but i am working towards something sustainable and good for me
