Okay so I just found out something fun in Excel. I'm organising my art commissions using a spreadsheet because of course i am. This is what I'm working with/on...----

The one in the middle is a picture, where I've copied the cells and done a special paste "as image". But as you can see - I updated the halfbody mini style from ❌ to ❔. So I highlighted the cells and done as I did with copy+paste special...

It!! It copied the image that was over the cells. So I guess what it really does is take a screenshot based on the cell co-ordinates.

Am I going to mess with this having fun with some Excel artwork? You betcha.

Any other nerds playing with this lemme know.

I've now posted my second weekly QL recap post and I'm honestly just really proud of myself. Not just that I've stuck to doing it but also that I've managed to make it something I might actually be able to keep doing because I've made it as easy as possible for myself. That way it's less likely that it'll start feeling like a chore or that it'll take up a lot of my time when I'd rather be talking about the shows than formatting a post.

So because I'm a nerd and I kinda wanna show off a little bit because I'm proud of what I've managed to make, let me tell you exactly what I've set up to make my weekly recap post.

The basis for the post is simple enough: an excel spreadsheet and a python script.

My Spreadsheet of BLs

The spreadsheet is based on My Watchlist on MyDramaList which I literally just do ctrl+A and copypaste into a sheet. This is then automatically compiled into a different sheet where I've made a better overview of all the shows I'm watching and have watched in the past.

Based on this I've set up the weekly overview in a separate sheet shown below

When I'm compiling my weekly recap I can then easily add any new information here.

For new shows I add the information below to the sheet

- MD Title (copied from MyDramaList overview sheet)

- Title (usually copy of MD title with minor edits)

- Site I'm watching the show on

- Tags I want to use for the show

- Episode nr. I'm starting the show on

I also make a banner for the show but I've found a good source for images so it doesn't take long most of the time.

I have to manually upload the banner for the first week but then for the second week a show is in the recap, I can add the HTML for the banner from the previous week's post to the sheet. That way the banner will just be automatically be added to the post every week after that.

Throughout the week I then write notes on each episode I watch into the sheet and before I make the actual post I add the order I want the shows to appear in on the post.

The Script is Where the Magic Happens

When I've finished filling out the spreadsheet for the week I go to my python script, change the week number in the script and run the script.

In the script I've taken the HTML code from my original recap post and set it up so the script fills the information from my spreadsheet for each show into the right places in the HTML code. Since I doubt you guys would find it riveting to look at my full script, here's a little snippet!

When I run the script it then prints out the HTML for the post which I can insert into a new post on tumblr and voila, a weekly recap!!!

I do then have to go through the text for each show and add breaks and spellcheck because that's easier to do here than in the excel cell where I write the notes to begin with. If I have any overall notes or any new banners I have to add, then this is also when I'd do it.

I'm sure there are things you could set up in a better way but this works for me and reduces the amount of time I have to set aside every week for creating the post by a lot. It just makes it easier for me to share my thoughts in a way that's nice to look at without having to spend a ton of time formatting a post each week.

Hope this didn't take away any of the magic behind my posts but just gave a cool insight into the things you can do to make recurring posts easier to make.

Side note: if you use tumblr on the mobile app and notice that any of the lines with "Episode x of x || Watching on:[site]" are split into two lines, let me know!

That line was surprisingly the hardest to make look the way I wanted because the width of posts and look of text types change depending on whether you're on desktop or the mobile app.

But all of my ideas feel a bit too big and overwhelming to just sit down and write without any planning, and I suck at planning so i probably won't make anything soon.

Still in an art rut so I calculated all their birthdays on the Gregorian Calendar under the read more for those that like to draw their favorite characters on their birthdays.

i made a wicked sdv spreadsheet to calculate resources i need. i made it cause every winter i focus on gathering resources and building/redesigning the farm.

anyways i’m gonna brag about it bc im proud i love spreadsheets. i kiss spreadsheets on the mouth.

details of my ⭐️work⭐️ under the cut

basic explanation

purpose is to allow a player to input things they want to make/buy (craftables/buildings/tool upgrades) and have it output how many resources they will need

it allows the player to input:

the desired items (and how many of each)

the number that they already own

their current inventory (resources and money)

it uses all this information to calculate resources and money needed to fulfill all those requirements.

it also allows the user to choose "priority" items. it will output a table of required resources for:

prioritized desired items

total desired items

this doesn't include all craftables, buildings, or resources, but ones I felt were the most important and likely to be something you'd want to calculate (like l'm not gonna build 20 slime hutches or 30 crystalariums ya know)

(it also has a sheet with a much more detailed breakdown for hardcore gamers (excessively detailed for no reason nerds (like me)))

"If I don't go no one will be able to watch Jean's back." Neil says, "He has to go, he doesn't get a choice." Neil says and the answer to what that could result in for the Backliner is evident in how Kevin gets paler.

Kevin looks to Andrew, his fists tighten at his sides, "Go with Neil. I'll be okay with Riko's attention focused and I'll stay close to everyone." he promises. "You have to watch his back." Kevin pleads.

"That's been my plan you don't need to ask me." Andrew rolls his eyes.

So I was thinking about Idia and how he became housewarden. We know he was nominated by the old one, but we don't know exactly why (or at least I don't). Therefore, I came up with some theories as to how it went down:

Old Housewarden just saw Idia floating around and being a big brain (especially with Ortho around) for the past two years and went "Yes, this is a good idea"

This, or if Idia just flew completely under the radar, his parents bribed Old Housewarden for the nomination Kalim Style in order to indirectly teach Idia ✨️Business Skills✨️ by having him run the dorm.

So, at the end of Idia's sophomore year, Old Housewarden just went up to him, gave him a pat on the back and went "Congratulations Idia! You're gonna be Housewarden next year!"

Idia, shaking his head: "No"

Old Housewarden, nodding happily: "Yes!"

"No"

"Yes!"

OR

One day, the dorm was holding some contest judged by Old Housewarden. Programming/robotics kind. Idia comes across it (prize unknown to him), sees all these "noobs" and their inventions and decides to enter for the sole purpose of flexing. His entry is the best by a long shot and he wins.

While he's feeling proud of himself, Old Housewarden announces how he held the contest to find the most capable in the dorm and the prize for winning is the Housewarden position.

Disclaimer: Any similarities to other dorm's Housewarden selection processes (Pomefiore) is purely coincidental.

So… It’s been a while! Does anyone even remember me? XD

I always feel bad when I drop off the grid for a while without saying anything. Sorry about that :/

I took a step back from everything and spent the last 3 months working on myself and trying to fix things, instead of just allowing myself to drown. And it’s weird, the more positive changes I make to my life, the more good things it brings to me. I’m actually seeing results from my efforts which I never have before.

Anyway, some updates!

My laptop broke and I had to wipe the hard drive to save it, so sadly lost some work on Blue Blood and a whole bunch of poetry :( Took this as an opportunity to rebuild some things from scratch though. I was losing my groove with Blue Blood for a while, but letting go and finally tearing out chunks of the plot has started to help. Now I can actually start fixing some issues that were breaking my flow.

I’ve been really throwing myself into my job for the last few months, which has had surprisingly good results. I’m being given extra projects that are based on my interests and expertise. I used to complain a lot about how much I disliked my career, but now I’m being reminded of why I love working with data. I got to do two presentations on the reports that I built AND they were shown to both the department head AND the CTO!!

I also became an uncle! Honestly, something I’ve been having mixed feelings about. I’m very happy for my brother and his partner, admittedly also fairly jealous since I can’t have that myself. But it’s been really nice to see my brother starting a new chapter in his life and my baby niece is adorable :D

And the biggest shocker... I’m dating someone! And not just anyone but the guy I’ve had a crush on for over a year, who apparently also had feelings for me this entire time!! Which is just WILD to me that he’s actually into me?? This is the first adult relationship I’ve had and I was so nervous going into it, but somehow with him, everything just feels so easy <3

You know now that I think about it… I think some of blue teams frustration really does come from misunderstanding how the point system works as a whole.

Watching Tubbo’s stream last night I heard him say “how did red get that extra 4%” referring to how red team had 44% of the points yesterday.

But even when blue had all the claims, red still held like,,, 35% of the score board.

I think the percentage they show on Twitter is more of a comparison thing. If you think of tasks in terms of being out of 10 points, then every global mission is 4/10 points, personal missions (which there are more off) are also 4/10 points.

Idk if that makes sense but I do know at least that 40% of points =/= 40% of scores
