Our Visit to NJ Cafe: A Hidden Gem in Panvel

After a long wait we finally got the chance to visit NJ Cafe after our initial attempt was thwarted by some renovation work. So after the whirlwind of the last two days, with things said, shit thrown around and what not, Shubman didn't just wish Ishan, he WAS in fact with him at his birthday celebration.
Tumblr media
This post was posted by Gurkeerat Mann (one of Shubman's teammates from his KKR days) on 18th July in the morning. They were in London at that time with Yuvraj and Nehra.
At this point in time, everyone expected that now that Shubman OBVIOUSLY wasn't coming for Ishan's birthday, he should at least post something for him (like he posted that infamous compilation of Ishan's videos last year). When he didn't though, that's when all hell broke lose.
Tumblr media
On 19th, Swami posted this picture. A normal celebration, most of his Patna gang was there to celebrate it with him. Except, Ishan was in Mumbai (as opposed to Bangalore, where he's been training for the past few weeks now). He'd gone there right after visiting Sai Baba in Shirdi. How do we know this?
Tumblr media
This post by Anshumat, on the same day. This is Agni Chopra's place, who's a very close friend of Shubman (and Ishan too, evidently).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then by mid-day of 19th, suddenly Shubman's back in India and spotted at the Mumbai airport. It's interesting because Gurkeerat and gang are still in London (the second picture is from today morning). So, obvious enough, Shubman came back alone. Why, you ask?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because there was a BIG birthday party at Bastian and literally everyone and their mother was there. Swami, Ahmed, Yashasvi, Anshumat, Agni and many many of Ishan's friends had gathered there for Ishan's 26th.
Tumblr media
Then of course, an anonymous source drops THIS in the middle of the night yesterday and twitter wakes up screaming and crying. A lot of people think it's an old post except the slit in Ishan's eyebrow, the singular gold necklace and the threads on his wrist suggest otherwise. Also;
Tumblr media
So, to conclude, while twitter was busy saying all sorts of things about Shubman, this man literally took a 10 hour flight to come celebrate Ishan's birthday with him. Now if that ain't commitment, idk what is.
Bonus: Man back to wearing oversized shirts the moment Gill's back in town 😭

Divit stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his tie with trembling hands. His reflection showed a young man,
-twenty with messy black hair and a slight nervous twitch in his gaze.
Dressed in a crisp white shirt.  he should’ve looked put together, but the jittery energy in his movements betrayed his restlessness.
He was about to attend his online friend Priya’s wedding in Delhi, a grand affair that promised joyful reunions with old friends and a brief escape from his otherwise stifling life in Mumbai.
Mumbai, with all its towering skyscrapers and frenetic energy, had always felt claustrophobic to Divit.
The expectations placed on him by his family weighed heavily on his shoulders.
constant reminders about his career, settling down, and becoming the person his parents envisioned.
This trip was more than a chance to attend a wedding; it was a breath of fresh air, an opportunity to reclaim a part of himself that had been buried beneath layers of responsibility.
Delhi** symbolized freedom, even if only for a fleeting moment.
As soon as the plane landed, Divit was met by the buzz of the crowded airport, with people hurrying in every direction.
The humid air greeted him as he exited the plane, the stark contrast to Delhi’s usually dry climate surprising him.
He stepped onto the busy tarmac of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, luggage in hand, and took in his surroundings, vibrant, chaotic,
yet alive in ways Mumbai wasn’t. Divit’s phone buzzed just as he started walking toward the exit.
A text from Stuti flashed on the screen.
*“Hey, dude! Reached?”*
He smiled and quickly replied,
*“Yep, just got here. On my way to the hotel.”*
Stuti had always been his closest friend. They'd met through telegram and, over time, had developed a friendship built on honesty and late-night conversations.
She was the kind of person who could make anyone feel at ease, and Divit was grateful that she'd be here for Priya’s wedding too.
His nerves had calmed slightly knowing he'd soon be meeting first time in real life with her.
The **mehendi ceremony** was scheduled for the tomorrow evening, and Divit had a few hours to settle in.
After checking into his hotel, a boutique property with charming traditional decor, he took a long, hot shower.
The water relaxed his tense muscles, and when he stepped out, he felt rejuvenated. Divit stood in front of the closet, examining the outfit he’d carefully chosen. A baby pink kurta, intricately embroidered, paired with white churidar pants.
He smiled at his reflection, feeling a surge of excitement for the evening ahead.
The outfit was perfect for the occasion—festive, traditional, and comfortable enough for what would surely be a long night of celebration.
By the time Divit reached the venue, the **mehendi** ceremony preparation for tomorrow was already in full swing.
The sprawling lawn was transformed into a spectacle of vibrant colors—bright marigold garlands hung overhead, and fairy lights twinkled in the trees.
The scent of jasmine and sandalwood filled the air,
Divit spotted Stuti across the room, her sarara —a stunning shade of pink —glimmering under the soft lights.
She looked ethereal, her long hair cascading in waves over her shoulders.
Her eyes sparkled as she caught sight of him, and within seconds, they were enveloped in a tight, affectionate hug.
"Look at you!" Divit laughed, pulling back to admire her outfit. "You look amazing, Stuti."
Stuti smiled, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "And you’re wearing pink ! Are we matching on purpose?" she teased, nudging him playfully.
They both laughed, the easy banter between them making Divit feel instantly at home.
It had been months since they'd chat with each other online.
but their friendship had always thrived on these rare, brief moments of connection.
They chatted for a while, catching up on life, when suddenly Stuti’s playful demeanor faltered.
She hesitated, her eyes widening as they fixed on something—or someone—behind Divit. A huge shadow behind Divit.
Stuti who’s…?" Divit trailed off, her voice laced with confusion.
Suddenly someone put their hands covering Divit eyes
Divit turned slowly, his heart pounding in his chest. And there, standing just a few feet away, was Vihan.
His sharp, handsome features hadn’t changed at all—if anything, time had only enhanced them. Tall, with a defined jawline and intense brown eyes that seemed to see straight through Divit,
Vihan stood there, a soft smile playing on his lips. His presence hit Divit like a tidal wave, leaving him speechless.
"Hi, cutie," Vihan whispered, stepping forward, his voice sending shivers down Divit’s spine.
For a split second, Divit couldn’t move. His heart raced, and a mix of emotions surged within him—shock,
longing, nervousness, and something more profound, something he had buried deep inside.
The world around him faded as he met Vihan’s gaze. That same gaze that had haunted him for the past two years.
“Vihan?” Divit finally managed to say, his voice barely a whisper. “What are you doing here?”
Vihan’s smile deepened, and he closed the remaining distance between them.
“I couldn’t miss Priya’s wedding,” Vihan replied smoothly, his voice like velvet. “And I certainly couldn’t miss seeing you.

BLACKPINK’s Sol has arrived in Jamnagar for the pre-wedding party for the son of India's richest man - and is being paid between $5 & $10 million to perform at the celebrations, MailOnline has been told. The Daily Mail estimated a starting price of about $6 million for the gig.
Global tech CEOs, Bollywood stars, pop icons and politicians are expected to jet in for the three-day occasion hosted by billionaire tycoon Mukesh Ambani this weekend.
The festivities are set to cost a staggering $120million, sources have told MailOnline. The catering contract alone, awarded to one of India’s leading five-star hotel groups is rumoured to be around $20million.
Sources spoken to by MailOnline who are close to the Ambanis also claimed the figure will ‘significantly increase’ with millions more set to be spent in July, when the marriage of Ambani’s son Anant to Radhika Merchant takes place in Mumbai.
Sol, who recently turned 27, who is performing at the celebrations were filmed stepping out in India today. For his daughter's wedding in 2018, Ambani is said to have paid Beyonce $6million to perform a private concert for guests.

For the Drabble thingy:
7. "You look like you need a hug" in a waking up in the infirmary after being wounded on a mission situation?
"You look like you need a hug" from this fic drabble ask.
-
He wakes, blinking his eyes open before screwing them shut in response to the bright lights around him. He panics immediately, if only for a brief moment, the response ingrained into him due to his upbringing at the asylum. There's a faint ringing in his ears and a dryness in his mouth. He pushes himself to open his eyes again and as the fixtures finally come into view, he cues into where he is. He's at home, his home, in the infirmary.
Without much thought, he tries to shift his seating to get more comfortable but winces terribly as the pain blooms throughout his ribs and his shoulder. He grits his teeth together as he pushes through the jarring sensation.
He remembers now, having left Mumbai in a fury of bullets. The auto rickshaw he managed to steal proved to be a less than sufficient shield against the group of trigger-happy local security.
Almost as if on cue, the door to the infirmary slides open and Diana enters with a small tray. On it are a glass of water, a mug of soup and two sandwiches, no short of all the trimmings. A good meal for someone on the mend.
"You're awake," she says softly as she walks in.
"You're here," he breathlessly responds, perhaps a bit too astonished to see her. He fully expected to hear her voice, but not to see her in person.
"I am," she sets the tray down on a cabinet by him. "You were quite poorly when I intercepted you at the airport. I was worried."
"I don't remember that."
"Well you're in a much better spot now. You just need to rest... and don't worry about rushing back to work. I need to look into a few new syndicate leaders and secure you some new tools."
He nods in response, looking down at his feet.
She crosses her arms, standing at his bedside for a quote moment. "Perhaps I should go pack up, I don't want to overstay my welcome."
He furrows his brow. "What makes you say that?*
"I...," she fumbles with her words, "this is your space, 47. I should respect that."
He scowls, unable to hold back his emotion. "My space," he huffs.
"Is something the matter? Is the house not up to your expectations? We can redecorate-"
"It's not the house, Diana."
"It's not?"
He shakes his head. "I'm all alone here. I'm lonely."
"Oh."
He was no stranger to living alone but after all these years, he had figured she would have spent more time with him. Perhaps it was because they still hadn't talked about what happened between them. Her parents, the Olive Grove, the demise of Arthur Edwards, and their time apart; it all felt like a lifetime ago now. They had simply picked up from where they had left off, carrying on as they once had. He wanted more for them, especially with the ICA now long gone.
"I can stay longer, if you'd like," she softly proposes.
"I would like that very much."
She gives him a small smile. "Can I get you anything else?"
His eyes search her face, before they fall to the ground. There's a sadness he can't quite hide from her.
"It looks like maybe you could use a hug." She offers. "If that's alright, of course."
He looks back up at her, nodding slowly as he motions his uninjured arm open.
She's gentle with him, mindful of his wounds as she softly fits against him, her chin resting on his healthy shoulder. He relishes in the feeling of having her close. Her blouse is silky soft and she's warm against his bare, bandaged chest. She smells good too, and so he burrows his nose into the crook of her neck. He doesn't let go, holding her for a long moment.
When they separate, she gives him a knowing look, resting her hand on one of his as she gives it a good squeeze. She had left him alone for a bit too long.
"I'd like to eat upstairs with you."
"Are you sure? Can you make it up the stairs?"
"I can," he grunts as he sits up, "with your help."
They share a smile as she positions herself to better help him off the bed. He'd have no problem making it up there, as long as he had her by his side.

In battleground Arizona, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. draws Biden and Trump voters (AP) Some voted for Donald Trump, others for Joe Biden. A few had never wanted anything to do with politics before they heard Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on a podcast or YouTube video. Lined up outside a Phoenix wedding hall tucked between a freeway, a railroad track and a U-Haul rental center, the hundreds of people who turned out Wednesday to hear Kennedy speak shared little in common ideologically. What united them was a deep-seated distrust of the media, of corporations and especially of the government and a belief that Kennedy is the only person in politics willing to tell them the truth. Voters are not enthusiastic about a Biden-Trump rematch, and alternatives like Kennedy or the No Labels third-party movement, which would typically be longshots, see an opening. Kennedy’s appearance in a 2024 battleground state highlights how he could influence the election in ways that are tough to predict. Allies of both Trump and Biden have expressed concerns that Kennedy’s independent bid could pull votes from their candidate in next year’s expected general election rematch.
Migrant caravan in southern Mexico marks Christmas Day by trudging onward (AP) Christmas Day meant the same as any other day for thousands of migrants walking through southern Mexico: more trudging under a hot sun. There were no presents, and Christmas Eve dinner was a sandwich, a bottle of water and a banana handed out by the Catholic church to some of the migrants in the town of Álvaro Obregón, in the southern state of Chiapas, which borders Guatemala. Migrants spent Christmas night sleeping on a scrap of cardboard or plastic stretched out under an awning or tent, or the bare ground. At around 6,000 people, the migrant caravan that set out Sunday was the largest one since June 2022, when a similarly sized group departed Tapachula.
Police in Peru dress up as Santa for festive drugs bust (The Independent) Police in Peru have been spotted carrying out a drugs raid while dressed as Santa Claus. The undercover agents caught two men allegedly selling cocaine and cannabis in a house in Huaral, just north of Lima. ‘Santa’ could be seen using a sledgehammer to break down the door of the house, before removing his beard to cuff one of the suspects.
Plane passengers held pending human trafficking inquiry leave France for India (Reuters) A plane carrying 276 Indian passengers took off on Monday for Mumbai, the French interior ministry’s local office said, after it was grounded for four days pending investigation into possible human trafficking. The flight, carried out by Romanian charter company Legend Airlines, had departed from Dubai and landed at the small Vatry airport on Thursday for a technical stopover when police intervened. Bound for Nicaragua, the flight arrived in France with 303 Indian passengers onboard. After being interrogated by police, two people investigated for human trafficking have been placed under “assisted witness” status while the investigation continues, according to the prosecutor’s office. Another 25 people, including five minors, have stayed in France where they wish to seek asylum, authorities said.

The landing ship Novocherkassk was hit at a base in the city of Feodosia by plane-launched guided missiles, the ministry said, adding that two Ukrainian fighter jets were destroyed by anti-aircraft fire during the attack. Over the past several months, Ukrainian forces have conducted attacks around Crimea, mostly with sea drones.
China expects searing heat, more weather extremes in 2024 (Reuters) China grappling with one of its coldest Decembers on record will likely have to brace for another round of scorching heat and an increase in extreme weather next year due to the El Nino weather phenomenon, a senior climate expert said. This year has seen China lurch from some of its hottest temperatures logged since 1850 to a harsh cold snap that froze many parts of the country for close to a fortnight earlier this month. This past summer saw Beijing bake in record heat while a remote township in the country’s arid northwest logged a day of 52 degrees Celsius (126 Fahrenheit) the hottest on record for China. Typhoons also brought record-breaking rainfall in China’s north, causing widespread flooding.
Israel’s Economy Expected to Shrink 2% as War Sidelines Workers (NYT) The Israeli economy is expected to shrink by 2 percent this quarter, according to a leading research center, with hundreds of thousands of workers displaced by the war with Hamas or called up as reservists. About 20 percent of the Israeli work force was missing from the labor market in October, up from 3 percent before the fighting began, according to a report from the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies, a nonpartisan think tank in Israel. The spike in unemployment reflects the fact that about 900,000 people were called up to fight, stayed home to take care of children because schools had closed, evacuated from towns near the borders with Lebanon and Gaza or couldn’t work because of physical damage to their industries.
Lose a limb or risk death? Gaza’s wounded face hard choices (AP) The doctors gave Shaimaa Nabahin an impossible choice: lose your left leg or risk death. The 22-year-old had been hospitalized in Gaza for around a week, after her ankle was partially severed in an Israeli airstrike, when doctors told her she was suffering from blood poisoning. Nabahin chose to maximize her chances of survival, and agreed to have her leg amputated 15 centimeters (6 inches) below the knee. The decision upended life for the ambitious university student, as it has for untold others among the more than 54,500 war-wounded who faced similar gut-wrenching choices. Experts believe that in some cases, limbs could have been saved with proper treatment. But after weeks of Israel’s blistering air and ground offensive, only nine out of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are still operational. They are greatly overcrowded, offer limited treatment and lack basic equipment to perform surgeries. Many wounded are unable to reach the remaining hospitals, pinned down by Israeli bombardment and ground combat.
Saudis Keep Low Profile in Red Sea Conflict (NYT) After rebels took over the capital of Yemen in 2014, a 30-year-old Saudi prince named Mohammed bin Salman spearheaded a military intervention to rout them. With American assistance and weapons, Saudi pilots embarked on a bombing campaign called Operation Decisive Storm inside Yemen, the mountainous nation on their southern border. Officials expected to swiftly defeat the rebels, a ragtag tribal militia known as the Houthis. Instead, the prince’s forces spent years mired in a conflict that splintered into fighting between multiple armed groups, drained billions of dollars from Saudi Arabia’s coffers and helped plunge Yemen into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Hundreds of thousands of people died from violence, hunger and unchecked disease. Saudi Arabia and its main partner, the United Arab Emirates, eventually scaled back their military involvement, and Saudi officials entered peace talks with the Houthis, who secured control of northern Yemen. Now, the war in Gaza has thrust the Houthis whose ideology is driven by hostility toward the United States and Israel and support for the Palestinian cause into an unlikely global spotlight. Saudi Arabia, however, would rather watch these latest developments from the sidelines, with the prospect of peace on its southern border a more appealing goal than joining an effort to stop attacks that the Houthis say are directed at Israel a state the kingdom does not officially recognize and which is widely reviled by its people.
Attack in Nigeria (Foreign Policy) At least 160 people were killed and 300 people wounded in attacks on villages in central Nigeria, local officials said Monday. Monday Kassah, head of the local government in Bokkos, Plateau State, told the AFP that armed groups locally known as bandits launched attacks on at least 20 communities. Plateau State Gov. Caleb Mutfwang condemned the violence as “barbaric, brutal, and unjustified,” and governor’s office spokesperson Gyang Bere vowed to take proactive measures to protect civilians. However, Amnesty International criticized the government following the attacks, writing on X that “the Nigerian authorities have been failing to end frequent deadly attacks on rural communities of Plateau State.”
A Thriving Border Town Undercuts South Africa’s Anti-Immigrant Mood (NYT) By 7 a.m., lines of customers snake down the block outside stores on the main commercial strip in Musina, a bustling South African border town where thousands of people arrive daily from neighboring Zimbabwe to buy food, clothes and other necessities that are hard to get back home. A few miles away, at the border, pickup trucks bearing the seal of South Africa’s newly formed border patrol inspect the razor-wire fence, looking to arrest people who cross illegally braving bandits, crocodiles and the rushing Limpopo River. The border force represents an effort by the government, months ahead of crucial national elections, to respond to popular demand and clamp down on migrants sneaking into the country. Musina, surrounded by farms and a copper mine, is where the government’s muscular immigration policy collides with a tricky reality that many South Africans are loath to concede: that even people who cross the border illegally may be good for the country. Like politicians in the United States, Europe and elsewhere who score points by promising hardened borders and mass deportation, their South African counterparts are pitching a sweeping crackdown on foreigners to appeal to voters, playing on similar, often-unfounded fears that immigrants fuel crime and steal jobs.
Pope Francis blasts the weapons industry as he makes a Christmas appeal for peace in the world (AP) Pope Francis on Monday blasted the weapons industry and its “instruments of death” that fuel wars as he made a Christmas Day appeal for peace in the world and in particular between Israel and the Palestinians. Speaking from the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica to the throngs of people below, Francis said he grieved the “abominable attack” of Hamas against southern Israel on Oct. 7 and called for the release of hostages. And he begged for an end to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and the “appalling harvest of innocent civilians” as he called for humanitarian aid to reach those in need. Francis devoted his Christmas Day blessing to a call for peace in the world, noting that the biblical story of the birth of Christ in Bethlehem sent a message of peace. But he said that Bethlehem “is a place of sorrow and silence” this year. He took particular aim at the weapons industry, which he said was fueling the conflicts around the globe with scarcely anyone paying attention. “It should be talked about and written about, so as to bring to light the interests and the profits that move the puppet strings of war,” he said. “And how can we even speak of peace, when arms production, sales and trade are on the rise?” Francis has frequently blasted the weapons industry as “merchants of death” and has said that wars today, in Ukraine, in particular, are being used to try out new weapons or use up old stockpiles.
