i don't think there is anything as overdiscussed on the reddit as team names and logos
#would you hate me if i said that i like pwhl montreal as a team name#like i know that's not the way of sports but like every soccer team is just city fc or some variation#well i guess half in the nwsl have another piece#but like chelsea fc is just the name of the place#and looking at the wnba most of those mascots are not good#ellie excluded#honestly i feel like the aces liberty and storm are the only ones that are really solid with their name / branding#shout out to atlanta and phoenix who are also solid#and i understand why the connecticut sun are the sun#but it really fucks me up that there is a team from connecticut and a team called the mystics and they are not the same team#because of mystic seaport#seattle because all the teams are plays on the weather which i think is really cool#like the reign [double meaning rain] storm sounders kraken mariners seahawks they all go together#boston and philly don't have that#i do like that all the women's teams out of new york have the same colors that's fun

my personal philosophy on all sports is that if my team isn’t in the running to win then the outcome should be whatever is funniest. which is to say yes i have been paying attention to the mlb postseason and no it is not going good for me.
#space rambles#red sox weren’t in the running so my thought process was#either the tigers win it all after loosing two games in a row to the worst team in 60 years (comeback arc AND pretty funny)#or we get a new york vs. new york world series and the mets win#undeniably the funniest team for the yankees to lose the world series to AND the yankees lose the world series#but the tigers are out of the running as of a few days ago and things are looking dire for the mets#sports curses need to get real again and they need to start afflicting the yankees#baseball is the only sport i go full bostonian about can you tell

Yo, if we are talking about sports rivalries, I will say that the New York Rangers vs New York Islanders rivalry in hockey is somewhat comparable to the Philadelphia Philies vs New York Mets rivalry in baseball and the Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Islanders rivalry in hockey is DEFINITELY comparable to the Atlanta Braves vs New York Mets rivalry in baseball.
If it isn't fucking obvious, here's which hockey teams I am comparing to baseball teams:
New York Rangers = Philadelphia Phillies
New York Islanders = New York Mets
Carolina Hurricanes = Atlanta Braves
Like the Rangers, Islanders, Hurricanes are in the same division in hockey as are the Phillies, Mets, and Braves are in the same division in baseball.
#nhl#mlb#hockey#baseball#talking about division rivalries in both hockey and baseball while i am fucking drunk btw#i am a yankees fan but mets are a backup team of mine since i am from the new york metro area#so yeah the mets are my favorite team in the nl east#and i will say i am an islanders fan#but i will say i have far more respect for the rangers and phillies than i do the canes or the braves as rivals#suzy talks#national hockey league#major league baseball#hockeyblr#baseballblr#hockey fandom#baseball fandom#sportsblr#sports fandom

Fans who cheer whenever a player is injured should be indefinitely banned from attending games. Fans who harass players should be indefinitely banned from attending games. Fans who literally assault players should be indefinitely (or better yet straight up permanently) banned. Fans who shout and cause a ruckus during moments of silence should be indefinitely banned from attending games. If you can't be respectful towards players, coaches, umpires/referees, or even other fans at games, you shouldn't be attending games at all.
#mainly directed at a *certain* group of new york yankees fans#(and a couple of dodgers fans too)#but this applies to every single sports fan#world series#2024 world series#baseball#mlb#hockey#nhl#nba#basketball#football#nfl#and if there's too many fans cheering for injuries tell them to fucking knock it off#sports teams and leagues need to start holding fans accountable for their behaviors#and so do other sports fans#stop normalizing blatant disrespect and unsportsmanship

I've decided that it would be incredibly funny if everyone in my family roots for a different sports team, but that means I need to pick one. Here's my reasoning for the options:
The Mets
- da Mets baby love da Mets go get a home run baby love da Mets let's go Mets
- apparently they're bad or something and that's funny
The Cubs
-
- hats cooler
That's all I got.
Please reblog for wider sample size
#my polls#i will be deciding myself ultimately but this poll is too funny to not make. to me.#plus i like participation#the sample size thing is mostly a joke poking fun at the utter unimportance of the poll#but the more people it reaches the funnier it will be#baseball#go sports team#mlb#major league baseball#sports#new york mets#chicago cubs

deepest condolences to my friends who all hail from the state of New York but I have decided based on one fuckin guy I know that i desperately need the panthers to kill the New Yorkers this week
#sports posting#kazoo noises#I pick my teams based on color. Proximity to my hometown. And also I pick anyone who’s against the team of someone I don’t like#******* ur a reasonably nice man but I’ve decided we’re enemies and I hope ur crops wither#Sometimes sports is not about love but rather about being a colossal bitch in a socially acceptable venue#This is also why I remain a hater of [REDACTED] and the concept of Manchester as a whole#Nothing personal to the Man folk in my life. Just beef from about… probably eight years ago#Anyway friends from New York who are not this man I love and support you and I’m sorry#Or fans of them too. Even if ur a yanks fan I love you it is truly just This One Fuckin Guy

hi it’s me again. (the anon who said i liked seeing you on my dash) i love hockey and baseball (really any sport atp), and have noticed you do as well, so do you have any New Jersey and New York sports headcanons?
HI! WELCOME BACK! AND OH BROTHER (or sibling/sister) DO I EVER !!!!!!
when that hudson river rivalry hits >>>>>>>>>>>>>
devils/rangers rivalry goes fucking crazzyyyyy in the statehouse yeah its not buffalo but tables are still being broken alright. noses too. you shouldve SEEN the shit that hudson river rivalry was getting up to in the 2010s . nj/ny r the same fucking way btw. fighting ur long-esteemed rival every time your teams meet >>>>>>>>>. i like to think this extends to devils/islanders and devils/sabres matches too bc thats all still new york even tho the rivalry isnt as strong there in the actual sport but i want these goofers to have fun soooo. i say they get really into those matches too. they use sports as a way to ✨bond✨ even though they would kill me if i said that.
nj does not have a baseball team so i imagine he isnt the biggest baseball fan in the world. definitely a hockey, football, and (college) basketball guy to me. new york, on the other hand, may quite possibly be the biggest baseball fan you have ever seen.
did you guys know. that the new york jets and the new york giants play in the same stadium. THE SAME STADIUM!!!! they literally live in the same fucking house. thats crazy. and you know where that stadium is? IN NEW JERSEY. new york is just leeching off of new jersey atp. maybe thats why he’s such a ride or die for the bills actually bc its the one team he has that actually you know is in new york.
i also think they actually play sports yk . the NE has some damn good hockey matches . nj & ny both play forward, nj more of a gritty(ha) fiery guy who does the tough work and quite frankly a little bit of a pest. likes to get under your skin. sneaky good shot. winger, plays either side. ny, on the other hand, is a two-way forward, center, plays damn good defensive and offensive hockey, can double as an offensive defenseman too. u can find him all over the ice, in the right spots, doing what he needs to be doing. not known for his hits but lays good ones.
they also play football too !! i know jackshit about football though so i could not tell you what positions they play. all i know is quarterback 😭 is it basic of me to say ny quarterback? who knows. i dont!
looping back to hockey. theyre both diehard proponents that you should not take fighting out of hockey . mfs r projecting over here. new jersey threatens suicide every time his team does badly. he alternates between being mad at his team for sucking and then muttering “im gonna fucking kill myself” afterwards. (i know you didnt ask abt PA but he does the same. there’s this tweet thats like ‘every person ive ever met from philadelphia is a lovely person who casually expresses suicidal ideation within 2 minutes of talking anout their sports team’ and its the funniest thing in the world to me. does this tie into new jersey hcs? technically, yes, bc i hc theyre brothers ^_^ enough of that tangent) new york does not do that . i just dont feel like hes that kinda guy! he is very passionate about his teams tho. they both are tbh!
this is kind of all over the place but i hope you enjoy anon ^_^ and anyone who happens to read this. this is mostly about hockey SORRY thats what i know and love LMAO
#lynx rambles#wttt hockeyposting#asks#suicide joke#<- idk if i need to tag that but better safe than sorry#i dont watch baseball at all tbh. but the dodgers just landed ohtani and i dunno guys i may have to tune in#i just find baseball boring but shhhh#big devils fan. loathe the rangers. dislike the islanders. sabres are the only valid ny team#wttt new jersey#wttt new york#<- I ALMOST FORGOT THEIR TAGS LMAO#i would also like to add that if gov was into sports he would threaten suicide everytime his team did bad too#(un)fortunately i dont hc him as really into sports because i think it would actually kill him#he’s a casual fan. but he’s also got that philly blood in him so#District & IDC are SUPER into sports on the other hand#mmm thinkin bout caps/pens rivalry. district & pa . rahhhh

Dude I don't know anything about hockey, but I love watching your live blogs! Which team are we rooting for? :>
The New York Rangers! AKA a team that has given me nothing but fits of anxiety and misery for 10 straight years. I would run through a wall for literally every single man on that team. Chris Kreider especially
#Anonymous#Seta liveblogs hockey#New York Rangers#Rangers lb#Rangers are my hometown team (grew up in NJ with a dad who was from Long Island before the Islanders formed)#I'm glad you're enjoying my liveblogs! Hope they aren't too frequent or crazy!#It's gonna be like this for a while lol#But don't let me persuade you-- catch some NHL highlights if you can and see if it's a sport to your liking!#EDIT: Kreider scored a goal right as I was responding to this Anon you manifested this and for that I thank you wholeheartedly#I'm dead serious
