Is Dr. Pepper worth the hype???
Is Dr. Pepper worth the hype??? The YouTube video this week of the woman adding pickles to a Dr.Pepper fountain drink certainly opens up a lot of questions.
But there is no doubt Dr. Pepper is a legit part of American soda / soft drink history since 1891 and still a well known successfull brand today.
It is its own brand and not part of Coke or Pepsi. In fact:
"Dr Pepper is the oldest major soft drink in the United States, having been created in Waco, Texas in 1885 by pharmacist Charles Alderton. Alderton mixed up medicine for the people of Waco, but in his spare time he liked to serve carbonated drinks at the soda fountain. He first offered his new drink to store owner Wade Morrison, who also liked it, and then offered it to some of the fountain customers, who also liked it. Morrison named it after Dr. Charles Pepper, a Virginia doctor." "Dr Pepper is a carbonated soft drink. It was created in the 1880s by pharmacist Charles Alderton in Waco, Texas, and first served around 1885. Dr Pepper was first nationally marketed in the United States in 1904. It is now also sold in Europe, Asia, North and South America."
"Which was first Coke or Dr Pepper?
Dr Pepper was created in 1885 and believed to be the first soda as we know it today followed by Coca-Cola one year later."
The numbers 10, 2, and 4 on vintage Dr Pepper bottles are a reference to a 1920s marketing campaign that encouraged people to drink Dr Pepper at 10 AM, 2 PM, and 4 PM to maintain a "refreshed" feeling all day. The campaign was inspired by a study by Columbia University's Dr. Walter Eddy that found that people's blood sugar is lowest around 10 AM, 2 PM, and 4 PM. The slogan for the campaign was "Drink a bite to eat at 10, 2, and 4" And there r videos on Youtube like this one from the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco
What does 10-2-4 mean? https://youtu.be/6Om0U8Ku0Po
I have been there a few times and reccomend it very small building easy to see drop by and visit
And the iconic Dublin Dr Pepper Bottling Company was the world's oldest Dr Pepper bottler. And they only used Imperial brand cane sugar as opposed to corn syrup.
However, they were forced to stop bottling Dr. Pepper after 120 years.
https://youtu.be/vRiotC7omKY Bottled Up: The Battle Over Dublin Dr Pepper - Full Trailer
So they have a huge customer base and u see their commerical on major sporting events like during NFL games and everywhere.
So r they worth the hype?
A resounding YES
they r worth the hype and have been at it for more than a century

Canada Delays Plans To Euth…
Canada Delays Plans To Euthanize Mentally Ill People But Not Because It's An Insane Plan

Canada's mission to start killing off the mentally ill hit a roadblock this week, but it's not because the country decided it's actually an insane proposition.
"The (health-care) system needs to be ready," Health Minister Mark Holland announced Monday as the government neared its March 17 deadline to start allowing the mentally ill to be euthanized. "It’s clear from the conversations that we’ve had that the system is not ready and we need more time."
Across the country, politicians now agree with Holland: They're just not ready for the rubber to meet the road. They're not saying this is a flat-out bad idea. They just keep saying not yet.

This week, Chris Selley of Canada's National Post lit into the liberal politicians who came up with this plan.
"It’s a grotesque notion: Once we get a handle on Canada’s myriad mental health-care crises, then we’ll be in a morally justifiable position to euthanize the mentally ill? Once we solve the housing crisis, then it’ll be fine to euthanize the homeless? These are artifacts of a debate that has gone miles off the rails," Selley wrote.
placeholder
"'Not ready' aren’t the words Canadian politicians are looking for. ‘Not ever’ are the words," he concluded.
Canadian bioethicist Kerry Bowman summed up what such a plan would've meant for humanity. Medical experts would've had the responsibility of answering "deep questions about what types of lives we consider worth living and which we don’t," Bowman said.
Look, I'm not an expert on Canadian politics, the legalities of euthanasia in Canada (it's legal, I know that) and what Canadians are thinking (fewer than 45% of Canadians supported euthanasia for mentally ill in 2022), but I do know that Justin Trudeau and his government's ideas on how to handle mental illness were interesting during the COVID era when Trudeau's goons pulled over and ticketed citizens for golfing and working on their mental health.
I also know it was Trudeau's goons who arrested people for playing pond hockey and working on their mental health during COVID lockdowns.
Hey, why let them work on their mental illness when we can just let them go mentally insane and then chose to die instead, seems to be the message here.
placeholder
In a country that likes to lecture others on how great its socialized medicine is, it seems like this plan to just let the mentally ill off themselves is the opposite of doing what's right for humans.
Is this compassion?
Where's the drive to make things right? Where's the government saying they're going to make things better for society?
The Canadian government wants to have its hands in everything like how many beers a guy can drink, but it doesn't want to step up and provide mental illness support. Instead, it wants to offer assisted suicide.
Eh, just off yourself via one of our doctors. It makes things easier.
placeholder
Save us the lectures. Start fixing yourself.

BACKGROUND / BIO
triggering / sensitive content: medical tw, hospital tw, cancer tw, oncology tw
southern charm at its finest, ramsey was raised in the deep south, surrounded by sweet tea, the thickest southern accents you could imagine, and a town where everybody knew everyone. growing up he was raised by his grandparents on his maternal side, his mother having taken off and never returning when he was just two years old. never knew who his father was as his mother never gave away who had gotten her pregnant all those years ago. his grandfather was a pharmacist, grandmother a teacher, so from a young age he grew to have a love of helping people. ramsey grew up as the quintessential southern boy, apart of all the local sports before settling on the high school baseball team, dating the head cheerleader, earning them both the title of prom king and queen. they split when they headed off in different directions for college, ramsey landing himself at the local university, not wanting to be far away from his grandparents. originally the plan had been for ramsey to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, study pharmacology and take up the small pharmacy that was in the salazar name. as he worked his way through school he became fascinated in medicine, but not in the way they expected. the more classes he took, the further in that he wanted to become a doctor. with expectations that he would go to medical school, he made the promise to make it and be able to hire someone to keep the small family pharmacy running so that his grandfather could retire.
years of studying, long hours worked, multiple residencies, finally landed ramsey as one of the states up and coming surgical oncologist specialist, primarily children. after securing the safety of his grandparents local pharmacy, settling them in beautiful assisted living center, ramsey took a prestige job opening at one of the largest children’s hospital in the country, arkansas children’s hospital. he was well on his way to running the whole department at the pace his was going, or at least that was what everyone said. he had the charm that was needed in such a delicate situation, but after only a few years did he feel the weight of his career start to pull him down. going so far as to start seeking therapy for himself based on what he saw day in and day out before one day he decided he couldn’t do it any longer. after long coordination with the staff, ramsey started looking for work in other places, finally finding a position in the local hospital here in town. while it’s nowhere near the salary he was paid before, he now finds his spirits lifted focused on general pediatric surgery. of course, being such a small town, it often means he needs to step in for general surgeries, but working with the little ones, seeing them smile makes his day the best.

Finding The Right Pain Management Doctor For Your Needs
Living with chronic pain can be an incredibly challenging experience, often accompanied by frustration and a sense of helplessness. Finding the right pain management doctor cannot be overstated in such circumstances. The process may seem overwhelming, but with the right guidance and approach, you can identify a healthcare professional who truly understands your unique needs and can offer effective solutions. This article will outline key considerations to help you make an informed choice in your search for pain management doctors in Fort Worth, Texas.
Understanding Pain Management
Pain management encompasses a comprehensive approach to alleviating pain and enhancing the overall quality of life for individuals suffering from various conditions. It is not solely focused on medication; instead, it involves a range of strategies that may include physical therapy, psychological counseling, interventional procedures, and alternative therapies. A thorough understanding of your options will empower you to have meaningful discussions with potential doctors about your specific pain management needs.
The Importance of Finding the Right Fit
Selecting the appropriate pain management doctor is akin to finding the right key for a complex lock. It is essential to choose a physician who possesses not only the requisite qualifications but also a compatible communication style and treatment philosophy. A skilled pain management specialist will take the time to understand your specific condition, preferences, and goals, thereby enabling them to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Key Factors to Consider
When seeking pain management doctors in Fort Worth, Texas, consider the following factors:
1. Credentials and Experience
It is imperative to ensure that your potential pain management doctor is well-qualified. Look for board-certified specialists with extensive experience in managing pain. Verify their credentials and inquire about additional training or specialization in relevant fields such as rehabilitation, sports medicine, or integrative health. This information is typically available on the doctor’s clinic website or professional profiles.
2. Treatment Options
Pain management is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Different doctors may adopt varied methodologies when treating pain. Some prioritize pharmacological interventions, while others emphasize physical therapy or alternative treatments. When researching pain management doctors in Fort Worth, Texas, inquire about the range of treatment options they offer. A comprehensive approach that includes a variety of modalities is often beneficial in addressing complex pain issues.
3. Communication Style
Effective communication is a cornerstone of a successful doctor-patient relationship. During your initial consultation, assess how the doctor interacts with you. Are they attentive to your concerns? Do they take the time to provide clear explanations? A proficient pain management doctor should foster an environment where you feel comfortable discussing your condition and treatment preferences.
Conducting Research
In today's digital age, a wealth of information is readily accessible. Utilize online platforms to read reviews and testimonials about potential doctors. Websites like Healthgrades and Vitals can provide insights into patient experiences and satisfaction levels. Additionally, consider seeking recommendations from friends, family, or your primary care physician, as personal referrals can be invaluable in identifying reputable pain management doctors in Fort Worth, Texas.
Trust Your Instincts
After conducting your research, it is crucial to trust your instincts. If you visit a clinic and feel uneasy or unsupported, it is entirely acceptable to seek a second opinion. Your comfort and trust in your healthcare provider are vital to effective pain management. Feel free to explore other options until you find a doctor with whom you feel confident and at ease.
Conclusion
Finding the right pain management doctor in Fort Worth, Texas, is critical in managing chronic pain effectively. By being proactive, conducting thorough research, and trusting your instincts, you can connect with a healthcare professional who will support you in navigating the complexities of pain management. Remember, numerous pain management doctors are ready to assist you on your journey toward relief and improved quality of life. Take the necessary steps today to prioritize your health and well-being.

US consumers keep spending despite high prices and gloomy outlook (AP) A flow of recent data from the U.S. government has made one thing strikingly clear: A surge in consumer spending is fueling strong growth, demonstrating a resilience that has confounded economists, Federal Reserve officials and even the sour sentiments that Americans themselves have expressed in opinion polls. Economists caution that such vigorous spending isn’t likely to continue in the coming months. Many households have been pulling money from a shrinking pool of savings. Others have been turning increasingly to credit cards. And the additional savings that households amassed during the pandemic are nearly depleted, economists say. Still, the truth is no one knows where things go from here. So far, not only is no recession in sight but consumers as a whole appear to be in robust health. Spending might cool in the coming months, yet it’s far from clear it will collapse.
Violent Washington, DC (Economist) Though he has a black belt in karate, when a trio of armed boys in ski masks threatened Henry Cuellar, a congressman from Texas, outside his Navy Yard flat on October 2nd, he swiftly handed over the keys to his Toyota Crossover. It was the 754th carjacking in America’s capital this year, amounting to roughly three a day since January. And it was not the first attack on a member of Congress. In February Angie Craig of Minnesota heroically fended off a man who grabbed her by the neck in the lift of the building where she stays near the Capitol. Violent crime in the district is up by 40% this year. A proliferation of guns has turned dozens of petty disputes into killings: for the first time in a quarter of a century, more than 200 people were murdered before October 1st. That bucks the national trend. Elsewhere the crime epidemic that came with covid-19 is ebbing. Why then is the capital of the free world on track to record its worst year in decades?
Near an Acapulco Beach: Food, Water and Prayer After Hurricane Otis (NYT) In a large church displaying a big blue cross near the Acapulco beachfront, dozens of people dozed in sleeping bags along the pews, prayed in silence or anxiously discussed their next move. Víctor Hugo Sánchez attentively listened to the pleas from people desperate for food, water and gas two days after a Category 5 hurricane had rampaged through the city, leaving hundreds of thousands isolated and without basic resources. Mr. Sánchez had been assigned as a coordinator here and at four other makeshift shelters in the area. An incomplete list put together by local authorities identified 1,656 displaced people set up in hotels, schools and sports complexes. “This is chaos,” Mr. Sánchez added. “Acapulco is a disaster.” Inside the church, bottled water was running low. Five plastic crates and one table overflowed with medicine boxes and bottles, but there were no doctors to prescribe them. And despite Mr. Sánchez’s best efforts to ask other authorities to set up a soup kitchen and a water purifier, no support had arrived by Friday.
Drivers in Argentina wait in long lines to fill up the tanks as presidential election looms (AP) Long lines formed at gas stations throughout Argentina on Monday as surging demand outstripped supply, becoming a campaign issue just weeks ahead of the second round of the country’s presidential race. Economy Minister Sergio Massa, one of the two remaining presidential candidates, blamed oil companies for a lack of supply in the South American country and threatened to prohibit their exports if the situation failed to normalize immediately. His challenger, right-wing populist Javier Milei, blamed the leftist policies of the current government for the shortage. Argentines are enduring an annual inflation rate of almost 140% and the prospect of additional uncertainty and price rises as a result of the election prompted many residents to rush to stock up on goods. Lines at gas stations began to form late last week and continued through the weekend.
Both Sides Pay a Bloody Price for Coveted Ukrainian City (NYT) The tall chimneys of the Avdiivka Coke Plant stand out against the skyline. Beside it a sprawling slag heap juts into the sky, offering a high point overlooking the city of Avdiivka and surrounding villages. The two landmarks have been the focus of furious fighting since Oct. 10 as thousands of Russian troops began a major new offensive in eastern Ukraine to seize Avdiivka, a long-coveted prize that would extend Russia’s control of the coal mining region of the Donbas. Yet within days this battle for Avdiivka was shaping up to be perhaps the costliest of the war for Russia. Ukrainian artillery destroyed Russian armored columns on the approaches to the city, and drones armed with explosives struck down infantry as they dismounted from vehicles and advanced on foot. Waves of Russian soldiers scaled the industrial waste heap to gain its heights. Each time they were shredded by Ukrainian artillery. Nearly three weeks into the battle, the Russian army has lost hundreds of men and more than 100 armored vehicles and tanks, the Institute for the Study of War reported, and twice that amount by Ukrainian accounts. In the main direction of the attacks, it has barely advanced. The Ukrainians are taking heavy casualties, too; one soldier described how only six soldiers from his unit of more than 50 remained uninjured after the first days of fighting.
Afghans in droves head to border to leave Pakistan ahead of a deadline in anti-migrant crackdown (AP) Large numbers of Afghans crammed into trucks and buses in Pakistan on Tuesday, heading to the border to return home hours before the expiration of a Pakistani government deadline for those who are in the country illegally to leave or face deportation. The deadline is part of a new anti-migrant crackdown that targets all undocumented or unregistered foreigners, according to Islamabad. But it mostly affects Afghans, who make up the bulk of migrants in Pakistan. U.N. agencies say there are more than 2 million undocumented Afghans in Pakistan. The campaign comes amid strained relations between Pakistan and the Taliban rulers next door. Islamabad accuses Kabul of turning a blind eye to Taliban-allied militants who find shelter in Afghanistan, from where they go back and forth across the two countries’ shared 2,611-kilometer (1,622-mile) border to stage attacks in Pakistan. The Taliban deny the accusations.
Xi says China’s women must start ‘new trend of family’ (Reuters) Chinese President Xi Jinping said women have a critical role and must establish a “new trend of family”, as the nation grapples with an ageing population and record decline in the birth rate. It is necessary to “actively cultivate a new culture of marriage and childbearing and strengthen guidance on young people’s view on marriage, childbirth and family,” Xi said. Factors including high childcare costs, career hindrance, gender discrimination and not wanting to get married have deterred many young Chinese women from having children. China’s National Bureau of Statistics in January reported the first population drop in six decades and the country’s population is rapidly ageing.
Israel Hits Dense Gaza Area, Killing Many; Says It Was Targeting Hamas (NYT) Israel said it targeted Hamas militants in a densely populated neighborhood in Gaza. Photos showed a massive crater and widespread damage, and Hamas and nearby hospital officials said numerous people were killed. A doctor at a nearby hospital said the facility was receiving hundreds of injured and that dozens were dead. Israel’s military said in a statement that its fighter jets, in a “wide-scale” attack, had struck Hamas militants, including a commander who helped plan the Oct. 7 massacre that left 1,400 people dead, mostly civilians. Humanitarian officials have warned that Palestinian civilians face a growing catastrophe. “The scale of the horror people are experiencing in Gaza is really hard to convey,” Martin Griffiths, the U.N.’s chief official for humanitarian and relief affairs, said in a statement on Monday. “People are becoming increasingly desperate, as they search for food, water and shelter amid the relentless bombing campaign that is wiping out whole families and entire neighborhoods.”
As Israel pummels Gaza, the crisis in the West Bank comes into focus (Washington Post) Before Oct. 7, analysts were fretting more about the West Bank, not Gaza, as the potential spark for an explosion of Israeli and Palestinian violence. The calendar year had seen a surge in violence involving Palestinians and Israeli settlers—the latter emboldened by a coterie of influential far-right ministers holding top positions in the cabinet of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. More than 100 Palestinians in the West Bank have been killed by Israeli forces since October 7, according to the United Nations. Hundreds of Palestinians have been driven from their homes by settlers, who appear to be acting with a degree of impunity. It has raised fears among Palestinians in the West Bank that this could be a prelude to a wider campaign of violence and expulsion. “The war in Gaza gave the settlers the green light,” Tariq Mustafa, who fled his home in the Bedouin community of Wadi Siq after threats from armed settlers, told my colleagues. “Before, they would yell at us to go to Ramallah. Now they are telling us to go all the way to Jordan.”
UN agency in Gaza says urgent cease-fire is a matter of life and death for millions of Palestinians (AP) The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees told a U.N. emergency meeting Monday “an immediate humanitarian cease-fire has become a matter of life and death for millions,” accusing Israel of “collective punishment” of Palestinians and the forced displacement of civilians. Philippe Lazzarini warned that a further breakdown of civil order following the looting of the agency’s warehouses by Palestinians searching for food and other aid “will make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for the largest U.N. agency in Gaza to continue operating.” According to the latest figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health, more than 8,300 people have been killed—66% of them women and children—and tens of thousands injured, the U.N. humanitarian office said. UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell that toll includes over 3,400 children killed and more than 6,300 injured. “This means that more than 420 children are being killed or injured in Gaza each day—a number which should shake each of us to our core,” she said. “This surpasses the number of children killed annually across the world’s conflict zones since 2019.” And he stressed, “This cannot be ‘collateral damage.’”
King Charles III is in Kenya for a state visit, his first to a Commonwealth country as monarch (AP) King Charles III is in Kenya for a four-day trip, his first state visit to a Commonwealth country as monarch, underscoring his commitment to an organization that’s been central to Britain’s global power and prestige since World War II. It’s also a visit full of symbolism as Charles’ mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, learned that she had become U.K. monarch while visiting a game preserve in the East African nation in 1952. During the visit, Charles will acknowledge the “painful aspects” of his nation’s shared history with Kenya, which celebrates the 60th anniversary of its independence from the United Kingdom this year. The two countries have enjoyed a close relationship since independence, despite the prolonged struggle against colonial rule, sometimes known as the Mau Mau Rebellion, in which thousands of Kenyans died.
Music Can Be Mental Health Care (NYT) Music therapy, while still a relatively small field, has grown over the last decade. The practice helps people cope with ailments as wide-ranging as stress, chronic pain, limited mobility and hypertension, and is performed in psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, senior centers and schools. Scientific research has begun to explore why music appears to have such a strong effect on health and wellness, particularly mental health, where sounds can serve as a conduit to lift someone’s mood, help them reflect and reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Research has shown that adding music therapy to a patient’s regular treatment can improve depressive symptoms when compared with standard treatment alone. Studies also indicate that music therapy can decrease anxiety levels and improve day-to-day functioning in people with depression. Both listening to music and singing can reduce levels of cortisol, a hormone that the body releases when it is under stress. And the pleasure we feel when listening to music can produce dopamine, a neurotransmitter that influences the reward centers in the brain.

Performer AU + Awful First Meeting. Yes, I did stretch the definition of "performer" and what about it?
Eddie "Diablo" Diaz is Major League Baseball's most infamous hothead. He's arrogant, he's obnoxious, and worst of all, after making baseball history by pitching three no hitters in a row, and leading the Texas Rangers to two consecutive world series titles, he might just be justified in thinking so highly of himself.
Of course, the people who know Eddie best, his family and his teammates, know better. The Eddie they know is a loving single father who is so insistent on not leaving his son alone that he hired a private tutor, Carla, to homeschool him, just so he can take Christopher with him when he has to travel for work without disrupting his education. The Eddie they know is funny and kind and would do anything to keep playing baseball.
Including pretending to be an asshole on national TV so the franchise can sell merchandise with "Diablo Diaz" and little devil horns on it--all the big players have personas, Eddie. If the Giants can sell stuffed pandas in little jerseys, we can sell the devil--and who is Eddie to say no when his contract is on the line? So, when the fans and camera are watching, Eddie becomes an entirely different person.
He'd hoped that getting traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers would be a fresh start for his public image, but unfortunately the team manager Athena has other ideas. She sought him out to intentionally stir up controversy (well, and because he's a great pitcher), and she's not about to pass up the opportunity to make money off the Diablo Diaz persona.
Luckily, his teammates all seem to understand that "Diablo" isn't really him. He makes fast friends with the Han brothers, Chimney and Albert (catcher and shortstop, respectively), and the team doctor Hen Wilson (if Eddie hadn't been drafted to the major league, sports medicine had been his backup), during Spring Training, and he feels more supported by Bobby Nash than he ever has by any of his previous coaches.
Opening Day at Dodger Stadium comes on a crisp April afternoon, and while Eddie is nervous to throw the first pitch, by the second inning he’s feeling a lot better. By the time Bobby pulls him out and puts in the relief pitcher, Ravi, he’s feeling pretty good. As he’s walking off the field between innings, though, his attention is caught by the mascot, a brown dog in a blue Dodgers uniform, who is waving him over. Eddie scoffs and shakes his head in an exaggerated fashion: Diablo Diaz doesn’t play with mascots. The mascot keeps trying, though, and so Eddie does something a little stupid and puts one leg out to purposefully trip the mascot. It’s a tried and true older brother move, one that Adrianna and Sophia hate.
And it works. The mascot topples over into the dirt, and Eddie heads to the dugout. Chimney gives him an incredulous look and he just shrugs. He knows it was a little extreme, but he has a role to play here.
A few weeks later, Chimney invites him out for drinks with Albert, Hen, Hen’s wife Karen, Chimney’s girlfriend, Maddie, and Maddie’s brother, Buck. Eddie accepts easily. Eddie has a great time. Well, almost. See, Karen and Maddie are great, but Buck? Buck won’t give Eddie the time of day. According to everyone else, he’s a human golden retriever, sunshine personified. But for some reason he just hates Eddie’s guts.
It’s a damn shame, since the man is drop dead gorgeous.
After a few similar outings and gatherings, Eddie finally snaps. “What’s your problem, man?” “Okay, you. You’re my problem.” “Why?! What did I ever do to you?” “Seriously? Maybe if I lie down face first on the clay, you’ll recognize me then!” Buck stalks off, and oh. Oh. Oh, fuck.
Buck’s the mascot. Eddie flashes back to the look Chimney had given him on Opening Day and suddenly it all falls into place. Immediately he goes to find Chimney. “Why didn’t you tell me Buck was the mascot?!” “I thought you knew...” “No! You said he was an actor!” “Well, he is.”
So, now Eddie knows why Buck hates him, but he’s not really sure what he can do about it besides try to show Buck that he’s not actually an asshole. But it’s hard to do that when so many of their interactions involve Buck in a ridiculous mascot costume and Eddie contractually obligated to be a dick. Eventually it comes to a head on the 4th of July.
Eddie is ducking out of the team party early, and Buck just can’t help but make a snide remark. “Too good to hang out with the rest of us?” he sneers. Eddie grits his teeth. “Actually, I have to go home to my son.” Buck looks shocked. “You’ve got a kid?”
“Christopher, he’s my world.” He shows Buck a picture on his phone.
“He’s super adorable, I love kids.” Buck’s entire demeanor has softened now, to the point where Eddie thinks he might be receptive to an apology, so he sighs and puts his phone away..
“Look, I’m sorry about how I act during games, and about tripping you. But you have to know that it’s all a performance. A marketing scheme. It’s not really who I am.”
“Oh.” Buck shakes his head. “I feel really dumb now.”
“Don’t worry about,” Eddie smiles. “Let’s just start over. Friends?”
Buck shakes his hand and returns his smile. “Friends.”
Of course, the “friends” thing can only last so long because Buck is, as previously mentioned, gorgeous. But he’s also thoughtful and sweet and endearingly dorky now that he doesn’t think Eddie is a total dickhead, not to mention Christopher adores him. So, yeah, Eddie’s a goner. Lucky for him, it kinda seems like Buck might be just as gone.
They’re together by post-season. Somehow, Albert won the bet.
#buddie#can you tell I like baseball#the dodgers don't have a mascot in real life#anyways baseball player!eddie is a god tier concept imo

WESLEY ‘WES’ ATWOOD ( HE/HIM ) is a CIS MAN, FORTY FOUR year old CHIEF OF PAEDIATRICS/DOCTOR who has been living in Moorbrooke for TWELVE YEARS. They were born on JULY 20 and right now, they are currently residing in REDGRAVE GROVE. It has been said that they look suspiciously like MATT CZUCHRY and if they had to choose a song to describe themselves, they would choose GORGEOUS by TAYLOR SWIFT.
Hello, I’m Steph, this is my slightly grumpy but charming doctor and single dad Wes. I apologise it’s long! But I would love to plot and get some things going for him!
Character information:
Gender: Cis Male
Prounouns: he/him
Age: 44
Faceclaim: Matt Czuchry
Headcanons:
Trigger alcoholism, trigger abuse. Wesley was born in Austin, Texas and raised in Carmel, California. His early childhood was up and down. His father was an alcoholic and often had aggressive outbursts where hed hurt and control his mom. She tried to shelter Wesley from his father’s abuse, though he was a smart child and as he grew older he realised what his father was doing. He was frightened of him, though he tried his best to hide it, both him and his mom felt on edge in their own home. His dad wasn’t liked by the people in his hometown in Texas, he was a drunk with a temper and Wesley was often bullied for this at school. When he was ten years old, his own temper got the best of him and he pushed his father after watching him slap his mom. His dad hit him for the first time and despite his fear, he refused to show it to his father. That night when his dad went to the bar, his mom packed their bags and they ended up on a bus to California. This became the start of his new life.
California was amazing for Wesley, he had a new start where no one knew he had a drunk for a father. His mom Felicity found her confidence too, working for herself and building their life. He found his love for the beach, the sun and spending so much of his life outdoors. He was confident, adventurous and didn’t like to sit still for long. From a young age, he was always climbing things, playing football and other sports. He liked to be on the go, and he liked to be busy and that has never changed. His mom loved him and she did her best to keep him entertained and busy during his childhood and into his teens. She didn’t have much but what she did have, she used trying to give Wesley any opportunities she could. He enjoyed high school, he was an athletic and attractive young man. He was a good kid at heart, despite his sometimes temper and reckless ways, he was naturally smart and he always had a lot of friends. He was close to his mom, she taught him to cook and they looked after each other, she brought out his soft side that he needed at times and no one else seemed to get from him.
Trigger army, trigger gunshot, trigger injury He worked hard in school, securing a place at UCLA studying biology on a sports scholarship when he was eighteen. He’d come a long way from the scared child his father had created, he was doing well, he had a group of friends and a college girlfriend. He was a normal young adult, he enjoyed college. He liked the independence and meeting new people. Despite the partying and the messing about, he was smart and worked hard and decided to go into medicine. After his childhood, he had this need to help people. He excelled studying as a doctor, he was recommended for placements and found his calling in paediatrics. Though an older doctor offered him the opportunity to work in the army and Wesley took it. He wanted to help, he was determined to do something good with his life. It was an intense and rewarding experience, however, a few years into his career, Wesley took a bullet to his leg. The damage was so bad that he had to return home. He still suffers with pain in his leg and his limp has become part of him.
Trigger PTSD Life back in California was hard, after several years in the army, he struggled getting back into normal life. His emotions not the same and suffering with nightmares and mood swings. When a paediatrics opportunity came up in a nice place in Maine, Wesley decided it was the perfect opportunity for a new start. He works hard and he gives life his all, he’s extremely caring but he’s never really let anyone too close. He’s afraid of losing people, afraid of them seeing his vulnerabilities. The job in Moorbrooke was not one he was looking for, but everything seemed to fall into place. He liked the small community and he enjoyed helping people. He met a nurse he was seeing for a little while, when she told him she was pregnant. Though things didn’t work out and Wesley has his daughter who is now four almost full time. It’s hard to balance things sometimes between his busy job but he’s grateful for the help from his mom who now lives in Maine too. He is now forty four, with a lot of life experience and an established career. He has worked in the small hospital for a decade now and he enjoys running the small hospital. He’s in a settled place and is genuinely happy, despite the moments alone where his past affects him more than he would ever tell anyone. Wesley doesn’t like to show weakness, he doesn’t want people to fuss, not even when he needs it. He still knows he’s an attractive man, he likes to flirt but he’s never made a life with someone. He spends his small amount of free time going camping with his friends quite often and he likes to keep fit. He still likes to be on the go even when he struggles with his leg. He’s a friendly guy, he enjoys being a dad and even in his grumpy moments, despite everything, tries to see the best in the world.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
face claim: Michael Trevino
full name: Ramsey Gabriel Salazar
nickname(s): N/A
pronouns & gender: he/him/his cis man
sexuality: pansexual
birth date: November 6th, 1983
birth place: Sweetwater, Texas
time in town: three years
housing: the suburbs
occupation: General Surgeon with Pediatric / Oncology specialty when needed
family: N/A
personality: Everything you picture of someone growing up in the south is what you find with Ramsey. He’s southern charm, respect, and sports fanatic rolled up into one incredibly dedicated worker. Adventurous almost to a fault where he sometimes doesn’t know enough to say no, he’s never one to turn down a good time and is continually looking to grow his circle of friends that are just looking for a good time.
