WayBack Machine: you probably know about this site and definitely should get the add on. this allows you to save pages and access older versions with the click of a button. while you can search wayback using web archives, please get this one as well as it allows you to easily save pages and contribute to the archive.
Web Archives: it allows you to search through multiple archives and search engines including WayBack Machine, Google, Yandex and more.
Search by Image: allows you to reverse image search using multiple search engines (in my experience yandex tends to yield the best results)

HOW TO USE MOZILLA ADD-ONS ON YOUR PHONE
if you already use firefox on android, you'll know there are certain add-ons compatible with the app, some of them even being made just for the mobile version such as Video Background Play FIx. while most of them are pretty useful, some more specific ones aren't available on this version of the browser, but there's a way of getting some of them to work
you need to download the firefox nightly app, which is basically the same as the regular firefox browser but with the ability of activating developer mode. you can find how to do that here. once you've enabled it, you need to create a collection with all the add ons you want. i wouldn't recommend adding extensions if the creators haven't talked about phone compatibility, but XKit and Shinigami Eyes should work
also, don't tell the government this secret skater move, but you can try using both the regular firefox browser and nightly so you can have youtube videos in a floating box while you browse social media.

it’s interesting that the discourse is recent! i guess i’m just confused as to why so much hate is coming from charles fans, especially when he seems to be friends with alex? some of the people i follow have even gone so far as to call him racist. i’m just at a loss and i don’t want to unintentionally put my support behind someone shitty, but alex really doesn’t seem like he deserves the vitriol
anon, I'm at a total loss here! the only thing I can think of re: discourse among Charles fan about Alex that includes the word racism is. Alexandra as in Charles's girlfriend who allegedly liked tweets about some controversial (?) French immigration law (?) when she was like. fifteen or sisxteen. and that emerged after they started dating and many fans were quick to jump in on “I cannot BELIEVE Charles is dating a racist” That's all I've got
(mind u I think most if not all white guys on the grid are at the very least unselfconsiously racist in the way rich white privileged Europeans are casually racist unless they actively work on unlearning it. I think it's a good thing to keep in mind. I also think using racism as a gotha bc your fave is dating a girl who's not you and all you could find is a twitter like from 2016 is iffy as fuck and obviously not motivated by antiracism lol)

about Alex (Albon) I agree with this post that there's been an uptick of dislike for him and I think some of the glee I've seen (mostly on places that aren't tumblr) makes me wary in the same way people calling Yuki “Honda's guy” or acting like Guanyu is the first just-decent driver to get on the grid thanks to a sponsor make me wary. But I haven't seen anything else. ngl, though, I do like Alex quite a bit and my dash reflects that + I never go into the main tag so there could be soo much hate I'm blissfully unaware off.

Hi! Can you please point me to the 1990s Clark/Bruce zines you mentioned in a recent post? Also, do you know anything about the Superbat fandom history in the pre-tumblr/ao3 era? I’m really curious about it but I haven’t been able to find great sources. Thanks!!
Unfortunately I've never been a huge Superbat reader and actively participating in the pre-internet zine era was before my time in fandom, so my knowledge on that front is limited. You'd be better off contacting and searching through the University of Iowa's Special Collections Fan Culture Preservation Project (which has its own Fanlore page and is sponsored by Ao3's parent company, the Organization for Transformative Works), the University of California Riverside's Fanzine Collection, or trawling through old Livejournal communities tbh.
In terms of fandom history, the very short version is that it was fairly popular in the Silver and Bronze Age (partially as a result of the World's Finest comics), briefly went largely dormant in the late 1980s/1990s after the initial post-Crisis status quo was that Bruce and Clark weren't close friends (and then Clark was dead for a hot minute), and came back with a roaring vengeance in the 2000s after Morrison's+Waid's JLA runs did the legwork of making everyone friends again and Superman/Batman started publishing, and hasn't left fandom consciousness since. Adaptationally, it suffered a small hit in overall popularity when Smallville was big (caving to the Clex shippers) but was still fairly popular in DCAU fandom circles at the same time. There's an interesting Superbat history retrospective here, if you're interested, which mostly traces Bruce and Clark's depiction in comics from the 80s until the 2010s but also provides some personal commentary and notes on fan speculation+letters to the editor that appeared in those older issues.
Sidenote: a major reason that you can't find fandom histories on DC the way you can on Marvel is because their archives aren't open to academics and the general public the way Marvel's are. There is no DC equivalent of Marvel: The Untold Story, for example. We have quite a bit of knowledge on the Golden Age era because of external sources, and there's a lot of information about the post-internet fandom, but unfortunately there's just not a ton of internal or fandom-centered sources for the in-between. And the documentaries we do have usually focus on official/company-centered events rather than fandom ones. I happen to anecdotally know some of that history, hence why I felt confident correcting people on that post, but you're right that there's just not a lot of "good" sources to be found on the issue outside of old blog posts.
You also have to understand that until the 2000s and the rise of modern fandom culture, "slash shipping" in most fandoms (that weren't Star Trek, anyway) was basically all underground, so the histories we do have are largely oral histories from oldfans and zines that have survived from that era. Slashfics were also regularly deleted from fandom archives at whim whenever content crackdowns happened (said content crackdowns were one of the major reasons AO3 was created and eventually became the main internet repository for fanfiction, btw). So unless you have access to the zines or those authors have uploaded/re-uploaded their work to somewhere that hasn't been subject to purges, site takedowns, or the general ravages of time...a lot of that history has been lost, unfortunately.

SCUM Zine (2022)
When I found Riot Grrrl music, I was elated. Loud, fast, angry music that focused on feminism was exactly what I was looking for. I discovered it as a genre/movement through Bikini Kill, as many of us do. The first time I heard Double Dare Ya, I felt like my life had changed. I went through the whole discography and found plenty that I liked just as much, but also several ideas that were expressed that I was a bit critical of. I decided to dig deeper into Riot Grrrl and what it was, but I found myself disappointed. Most of the music in the genre isn't actually all that loud or fast, and it feels like there is more contempt than pure rage, at least in many instances. There are several bands that I enjoy some of the songs of, but they don't quite hit for me in a broader sense. The critiques they present are so rarely about larger systems of oppression but rather individual experiences or more minor issues (which isn't to say that those minor issues shouldn't be discussed because they ARE contributing to a larger system, but I think that the system they uphold needs to actually be addressed for it to have any impact, otherwise the resounding response is that it's insignificant or not inherently universal). Bikini Kill and Bratmobile got the closest to that for me, but it was still mixed in with some ideals that I don't adhere to. I thought that the ideas might be fleshed out or properly analyzed in the zines that they released, so I got copies of the Bikini Kill and Girl Germs zines, as well as a plethora of other 90s Riot Grrrl zines, and for the most part they offered me the same conundrum: they are just kinda cool. They offer some inspiration, But that's really it; they are aesthetically pleasing, a bit edgy, and touch on some feminist topics, but they still are just individual thoughts, feelings, and aesthetics above all else. It often left me to wonder, who could build a revolutionary movement on this? Kathleen Hanna said she wanted a Revolution, "Girl-Style" NOW, but where is it? The biggest problem, in my opinion, was the rampant individualism. Riot Grrrl, despite the probable original intent, wasn't a revolutionary leftist force but rather an aesthetic neoliberal one (which makes perfect sense for the time that it came about, but still it leaves a lot to be desired). It's made a comeback in recent years, and self-declared Riot-Grrrls have started making zines again too. I've bought some of the more popular Riot Grrrl zines of the present day, and looked at many of the ones that exist online but they are largely, well, in my opinion, worse. Like they try to replicate the whole aesthetic of the 90s zines but really focus in on that *aesthetic* rather than the politics, which is an issue for me because I already was critical enough of the politics before. It's often a culmination of collages and pictures that worship a specific artist or a "look", interspersed with the repetition of slogans and the same brand of politics that you find on those sponsored radlib™ instagram pages that make those slideshows that co-opt leftist language but end up being ironically very reactionary and kinda perplexing. And seeing this be the current state of feminist "activism" amongst youth, especially amongst those who would proclaim themselves to be radicals and leftists of some sort, has led me to a point of feeling like I need to take action. I just couldn't find a means of feminist activism that felt right to me.

Been A While.
Hey. How's it going. Been pretty busy these past months, which meant no activity on this page. But, I want that to change soon. I've been getting into the whole "liminal space" subject again, and it reminded me of this page on tumblr I made a while ago. That's just a bit of what I wanted to talk about. Something is on my mind recently. I don't have any pictures for interesting abandoned places or familiar locations you swore you have seen before, but this does have something to do with those. Abandoned malls. You have seen them, those eerie, empty places with nearly nobody. Quiet music echoes around the halls and the buzz of the yellow lights to accompany it. Somehow stores can still reside in those halls, even if the mall has around 100 visitors a day, with around 12 of those visitors actually purchasing goods from the shops, or expired candy from the rusted machines. Play places sit still collecting dust, carousels and other little rides become inoperable. Why am I bringing this up though? It's December of 2014. People are rushing to buy presents for loved ones, roads are filled up with cars sitting in traffic, going to different stores and restaurants with family and friends. People sit outside of popular thrift stores dressed in well built Santa costumes, ringing a bell and giving their merriest "Ho, Ho Ho!" waiting for people to slip a coin into a red bucket beside them. That is exactly what I saw, while my parents drove me and my sister to a local mall, that was exploding in popularity. It was very hard to find a parking spot, but eventually a lane was found where my parents rushed to pull into. I remember being so excited, just waiting to see what was in store, and what was in stores too. I was still building my Christmas list at the time, and I was taken there with my sister to get ideas. It was, to say the least, extravagant. The large halls were crowded with people talking to each other, navigating to shops to buy gifts for their families and friends. Candy and vending machines were nearly empty, with lines of kids my size waiting to try new bubblegum flavors, and new stuffed animals that they knew they couldn't get. So many red and green decorations were scattered throughout, from snowflakes, to streamers, to little icons with snowmen, Santa, elves, and other such family favorites on the walls. Charity organizations and stores had their sponsored signs across the walls and on pillars, with merry signs to attract customers and donors. Christmas songs would play through the speakers, though you could barely hear it through the footsteps and chattering of hundreds of people. I don't think a single person there wasn't smiling. Finally, my dad guided my into a gift shop. I couldn't get many ideas as half of the shelves were empty, because all of the popular toys were sold out. It seemed like a scene straight out of my favorite Christmas movie Jingle All The Way. I got to sit on Santa's lap and I excitedly told him exactly what I wanted - a huge marble run set. It was probably my dream toy, to make my own marble courses and show them off to my family. I would go through all of the shops finding gift ideas for myself and my family, taking notes on a little notepad I had brought with me. That, was probably the best memory of my life, that single day. I was so happy, travelling through the mall, and the rest of town. I was so young, and even the littlest thing would make me so happy. I recently deactivated my Twitter account after Musk's "cis is a slur" policy update. Yet, I still clicked on links to Twitter to see the replies to stuff, even if I had to scroll past the twitter blue users like scrubbing a Youtube video to skip the sponsor segment (try SponsorBlock, btw.) Doing so always brought some temptation to re-activate my twitter account and check out my old feed. But now that Twitter posts are hidden behind a login page, even unprotected tweets, oh wow have I got zero interest in clicking a Twitter link.

As the decline of youth sports increases, the likelihood of staying healthy by playing sports at a young age is really high. Pactices 2-3 times a week a game a week just is a recipe for kids to stay in shape. Sports can teach kids valuable life lessons, discipline, hard work, teamwork. The rapid decrease in youth sports For all of their prayers to be answered for their dreams to become a reality. That is what All Kids Play is all about. The non profit organization aims to improve youth participation in sports all around the country no matter what sport, the main goal for them is to create for kids, a place to have fun, and also have access to change by playing sports and character building experience Although their goal is to come together and create teams of young children who may not get this opportunity because of financial restrictions. As a kid my parents didn’t have the funds to allow me to play ice hockey and that broke me so to have this organization out there funding families who can’t afford the luxuries that others may be able to enjoy is truly heartwarming.
Finding an organization was easy because as a sports lover I wanted to talk about the youth sports in the world. The vanity metrics for the organization are really low, on a first glance for instagram its 1k followers only about 200 following, which is upsetting because if you're looking to grow to post more pictures and get your information out to the public. The most recent post was february so they are not active on their causing there followage to trend downward. Their presence on Facebook too. The organization only has 780 followers and has not posted since months ago. The brand could improve on these metrics first by defining some clearer goals. Yes they posted their goal but it doesn't seem they follow through weekly as If I could improve it I would have more weekly or monthly posts going out even if it's a reminder to sign up or reachout for some information. If they describe specific attainable and measurable goals the number’s will rise. Especially engaging with followers, on all of theirsocial media platforms they aren't up to date recently enough. This furthermore affects The reactions the customers/followers will feel. Not responding to comments, messages and mentions.
For their instagram page, I suggest more branding, going around the country trying to promote this brand. Because they haven’t turned the promotion up to the next level.
Weekly posts need to happen first of all, a weekly basis of promotion will increase the viewership, bring potential followers and drive in more people and opportunities.
After analyzing facebook, the organization doesn't put much effort in nowadays to the apps page. Being silent for the last year or so they haven't been active . The metric here is ruined, they need to show a lot of attention first. The inconsistent posting, no active users isn't gonna get the organization to be more involved as they were in recent years.

Tumblr is the only social media site that understands consent.

Instagram recently decided it wants to be Tiktok instead of Instagram, so everyone's feeds are now pumped with Reels and it's harder to track the pictures of the friends you follow. Complaints have been met with radio silence by the platform.
Tiktok has no option for negative feedback so if, say, you stumble upon a homophobic video that starts out funny but doesn't tell you the bigoted part until two minutes in, your fyp is now forever gonna show you homophobic tiktoks unless you open a new account, at which point it will default to showing you underage teens doing slutty dances until you spend weeks curating your feed to get rid of them.
YouTube famously just decided out of nowhere that you don't have any reason to dislike a video because then corporate sponsors would be mad.
Pinterest is just the art theft platform. That's all they have.
Tumblr is the only website actively listening to its community on new features to implement, website fixes, merchandising and even user culture. They are actively trying to repel Twitter users in an attempt to keep their own community happy instead of trying to appeal to new users. They don't hate the idea of the website getting money, they hate the idea of being profited on against their will".
So Tumblr implemented actual revenue crabs. "For this much money you can fill your or someone else's dash with virtual crabs. This will have the effect of there being crabs on their screen."
And people will buy those crabs. Because yes you're spending money on something stupid and useless but it's being sold to you as "hey you want something stupid and useless?", which is a nice change of pace from every other site trying to make itself out to be something more than what it is.
Twitter is floundering with the checkmark system because it's being sold as "confirm that you are someone important and who you say you are is true", which it isn't at all right now because anyone can buy one. You're buying a useless checkmark that only says that YOU think you're important. Or, more often than not right now, you are intending to trick other people into thinking you're someone you're not.
Meanwhile, Tumblr just said "Consider this double check mark. It does nothing. You will be marking yourself as someone who paid money for a meaningless checkmark and sometimes it will randomly turn into a bunch of crabs, making the site harder to use". And the userbase is like "Well sure, that sounds delightful."
The point is, despite what all the marketing and advertising people have tried to say, painting trash gold and trying to pass it off as something better is almost never as effective as just saying "hey you want this trash?"

Week 3 - Gameday Publication
This week saw the group create a ‘Game Day’ program for our sporting organisation. The program consists of team lists for matches, a catchy cover page, a game preview and a page allocated for the promotion of our club’s sponsors (no sponsors available).
The skills that were gained during the creation of the program were centred around the use of Microsoft PremierPro, such as formatting, design and article writing skills. The team lists graphics were designed to be catchy and visually appealing as opposed to using a list format, which could be considered ‘boring’ by fans. Additionally, a game preview was written to provide extra insight to fans regarding their upcoming game, a recent player’s form, or a statement from the coach.
These programs can be produced to be handed out to fans attending live games or be sent out digitally via a club’s mailing list, aiming to better include the fans in the ‘match day experience’. This benefits the club by enabling them to become more closely connected to their fans by allowing for more consistent communication between the organisation and their fans (Yoshida et al., 2014). Raising Awareness While Raising Funds For A Worthy Cause
In order to increase their reach and expand their audience, it is important for nonprofit organizations to create a social media plan they can use to grow their following and gain donors. Their purpose and their mission are staples of their branding. Their social media channels should be aligned with these goals. Although their primary goal is to fundraise, social media is often overlooked as a way to reach a wider audience and find potential sponsors outside of their local community.
Looking at a local organization in my area called HORSE PLAY EQUINE RESCUE AND SANCTUARY, their current following is mostly centered around the horse and rescue communities. On their social media, they have missed opportunities to promote their brand and mission, as well as raise more money for their cause. As mentioned by Duke Haddad in his article on “Nonprofit Pro”, “...nonprofits must use social media to tell their story. Social media allow organizations with limited budgets to reach a larger audience in a fast and cost-effective way.” Creating meaningful, relevant social media posts is one of the easiest ways that a nonprofit can grow their supporter base. Horse Play currently has a presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube. Although they have an account on all of these, they are not using them in the most effective way and could be doing more to spread brand awareness.
The first platform I chose to analyze is Horse Play’s Facebook page, as this is the platform they are most active on. They currently have 1.5k followers, which is good for an organization of their size. The number of likes on each post varies greatly, with anywhere from 3 likes to over a hundred, depending on the subject. The two most recent posts I saw for fundraising activities had no reactions or shares. Although these could have been a great way to promote their organization and their mission, there was very little information included in the post, other than the details of the “Dance Class” that they were holding to raise money and a picture of the calendars they were promoting to raise money.
My suggestion for their Facebook page is to create different “buckets”, or types of posts that they can use in order to gauge which posts are the most popular. These should include posts about the horses, horse “memes” which would appeal to horse lovers, as well as serious posts about their mission which include how people can contribute to their cause. Also, I noticed a lack of video content, which could be a great way of boosting their views. A study from 2018 conducted by Wyzowl showed “98% of respondents like to watch an explainer video to learn more about a product or service.” Since Facebook uses an algorithm that favors content that keeps users on the platform longer, video is one of the best mediums for getting their content in front of their followers for a longer period of time. Facebook would be more likely to promote these posts on other newsfeeds. I recommend they also track their conversion rate, (advanced metric), their clickthrough rate, (behavioral metric), and their reach (channel metric). They already have a lot of “likes” on Facebook, but aren’t getting the reach or engagement to boost their posts in the algorithm for more eyes on their content. When creating a social media plan, one focus should be on their reach. Another focus should be their clickthrough rate as well as conversions since they are closely linked. The more people who see their posts, the more likely they are to donate. Horse Play could improve both by creating more content around its mission which encourages people to visit the website to learn more as well as donate. They could also benefit by using “call-to-action” style posts, which have been shown to increase clickthrough and conversion rates. according to the Small Business Administration.
On, their Instagram Horse Play -RI, there are fewer followers than on Facebook, with 401 followers and 650 posts. These should focus on high-quality photos of the horses within the organization. Instagram also incorporated several new features including Instagram stories or “Reels”. The Reels feature allows users to post short-form videos and mimics Tik Tok. Reels are an easy way to grow your following since the algorithm rewards organizations that post them. Incorporating video content in the Reels section will be boosted beyond their current followers, as well as a good opportunity to connect with people on an emotional level in order to spread the organization’s mission.
Similar to my recommendation for Facebook, they should track their conversion rate (advanced metric) and their clickthrough rate (behavioral metric). The leader of Morgunblaðið recently mentioned my struggle and pointed out what one person can do.

Búnaðarbankinn has contributed money to the foundation of the organization and will set up their website and cover Stefán's travel and telephone costs. Vífilfell has proposed a house in Hafnarfjörður under the activities of an organization against bullying, and it will be run by the Hafnarfjörður town.
It is planned that the building will become a community center where victims of bullying will be provided with first aid, and professionals will have facilities there. In addition to the two sponsors, both Hagkaup and Opin Kerfi have decided to support Rainbow Children. The print shop Prisma-Prentco has offered to print all material for free for the association, and Hans Petersen plans to give them a portion of the profits from this year's Christmas card sales. About 1,000 people have already sent Stefán an email and expressed their desire to join the organization, but as of yesterday, people can register by calling 575-1550.

Learning How To Art
A friend of mine recently decided they want to learn "how to art". Id est, how to draw better. What techniques to use. What equipment to keep around. How to get the image in your head onto the sheet of paper in front of you without making it look like something the cat spit out (although I myself rather enjoy scribbling things that happen to be vaguely resemblant of chewed up cat... uh. ...mush? This turned very gross very quickly I'm so sorry). ANYWAY - art!

...hosts a whole bunch of drawing lessons of varying difficulty.
...is good for absolute beginners and more experienced artists alike.
...alternates between practical exercises and well written pieces of advice on both the mental and executive aspects of art.
...is accessible and user friendly. You can choose to either listen to or read the pieces of text, and most of the lessons also have a complementary video.
...allows you to either go at your own pace or aim for a more structured approach by doing the recommended homework and admitting it for feedback (I'm pretty sure the feedback part is a paid feature though).
...seemingly has a big, active, and helpful community? Not sure, I haven't interacted much with that part of the site yet.
...is free! (except, as far as I know, for completely voluntary patreon sponsored pieces of extra guidance - such as the feedback bit mentioned above - for an added bit of ✨spice✨).
I myself have just started using drawabox, but! I'm very excited about it! I'm very pleased! I like the material! I'm having fun with the exercises! I'm having a good time! So all in all, as much as a complete newcomer can adequately and reliably recommend something, I do recommend checking drawabox out to see if it's your jam. Who knows, maybe you'll be a drawing god in no time? (Or more likely: spend about a billion hours desperately trying to draw a straight line.) Anywho, good luck on learning how to art to us!
