you understand this is essentially lena walking away from an explosion like an action movie protagonist. this is her moment. she IS the moment. she said "you want me out? i'm gone baby. don't come crying to me when the weight of responsibility that i've carried with me for years threatens to crush you <3"

she's iconic. she's everything. the entire rest of this show is going to be one huge "i told you so" from her.

and an even bigger "i told you so" from yours truly.

Lena losing her patience and furiously berating Gwen for potentially endangering the staff members of the OAIR is quite literally the opposite of how Elias ran the Archives.

Elias used the Archival staff—as well as his Archivist—as pawns that can be readily replaced as needed. His patron offered them minimal protections at best (the Archivist’s privileges notwithstanding), and even then, he would never actually intervene to save any of them if they were in danger, much less take precautions to protect them at their headquarters. They are used as bait, as sacrifices, as currency, as objects. The listener knows, eventually, how easily he could discard them if his plans called for it.

But Lena. This episode showed us that Lena keeps her entire organization running through keeping her subordinates hidden, safe, and unnoticed by the Externals. It’s quite clear through her conversation with Gwen that such a safety risk has never happened before.

As far as we know, Lena has successfully kept all of her employees alive, watched them come and go, bemoaned the turnover rate, and then got them to look the other way while they documented and dutifully filed the horrors.

But most impressive of all, she’s kept her real work hidden from her subordinates, and her subordinates hidden from her real work—a feat Elias had no interest or desire to accomplish.

Gotta love that Gwen's reaction to finding out her boss tried to murder someone is basically "Oh you couldn't even kill a guy? How embarrassing. Pathetic. Imagine if your boss found out. Now give me your job." I respect the hustle.

Why for a second time we see new hire starting their work with eating something that Lena bought?

Why is it established for like third time Alice wants to eat outside of the office or brings her own food into the office?

WHY WAS SAM OKAY WHEN IT WAS JUST ALICE MAKING HIM COFFEE AND NOW HE'S ADDICTED TO OIRA COFFEE? WAS SHE SWAPPING IT WITH HER OWN COFFEE STASHED AWAY SOMEWHERE?

Between threatening Lena to give her a promotion, the “Can he read?” to Mr Bonzo, and now insulting Ink5oul, I’m starting to realise that Gwen has truly godly magnitudes of self confidence, and absolutely no ability to deal with the consequences of said confidence. Okay so some of you may be familiar with the fact that alchemy heavily relates to The Magnus Protocol, especially with the latest episode.

It's already admitted that Sam Khalid's name is at least inspired by Prince Khalid Ibn Yazid, a famous alchemist from the 7th century. Well I'd like to go a bit deeper, and point out more connections :

Alice Dyer -> Edward Dyer

Teddy Vaughn -> Thomas Vaughan

Colin Becher -> Johann Joachim Becher

Lena Kelley -> Edward Kelley

Celia Ripley -> George Ripley

Chester -> Robert de Chester

I've yet to find anything about Norris or Augustus but this is what I've got. But there's more ! There are connections !

Edward Dyer and Thomas Vaughan were both Rosicruscians (and friends, too), a subcategory of alchemists

Robert De Chester was the one who translated Khalid Ibn Yazid's works from Arabic to Latin

Johann Joachim Becher was German, then travelled to England and resided in Scotland

Edward Kelley worked with Robert Boyle (mentionned in MAGP 19)

I'm not sure exactly what to do with it, but that's what I've got. I'm going insane over that so expect some more over the next few days.
