I'm sorry for unloading the god awful spn lore that I know but bc I am knee deep in this toxic fandom I am going to unload more cursed lore.

The thing is I hate how destiel shippers woobified Dean so much they ignored all the ways he was problematic and their excuse is he is a repressed bisexual when that is an interpretation and was never canon so his racism, sexism, and HOMOPHOBIA can never be excused. Lbr, even if he was canonically bi the things he said and did weren't excusable.

Anyways, I saw your tags and altho Jensen hates destiel and was never for it. Misha isn't a saint either. Both these actors are problematic in their own ways (tbh a lot of the spn cast are. I could write a whole essay for each of the main cast members.)

But Jensen and Misha are glorified by their destiel fans and most often they look away when these 2 idiot white men do dumb shit. The most recent ones are Jensen made a joke about csa. It's insane how this gets ignored. I'd rather not put the video here as it might upset some people.

But Misha just recently talked about the genocide in Palestine and he fucking denied it. And was very much pro-Israel or (at best) was being neutral.

He deleted this tweet and the thread but just so u know this guy is a piece of shit too.

it must be SO terrifying but intriguing to have such a powerful billion-years-old non-human creature fall in love with you. someone who never even experienced human emotions before, who has never wanted anything for himself, but now he WANTS, for the first time he FEELS, and he’s soooo creepy and invasive and intense about it. he has no knowledge of autonomy or privacy or any human stuff. and he can see ALL of dean while dean can’t even see cas’ true form bc it would blind him. he doesn’t eat, he doesn’t sleep, he doesn’t breathe. the sex would be literally a mind-blowing near-death-experience. cas is like an dinosaur worshipping an ant but still stepping on him accidentally 3 times a day, and one time on purpose just to see how he would react. except even a dinosaur would be more alive than him. it’s like being exposed and vulnerable to an all seeing eye who can smite you the moment you stop being entertaining. but dean is good with being on display - he can work with that. destiel IS the freak ship actually and i wish MORE people talked about this.

there's this relatively popular take that a piece of media has to be somewhat mediocre, rather than actually good, for fandoms to thrive or to make people insane and it's just one of those generic fandom opinions that i so deeply disagree with. i don't think it's remotely about quality, but rather about potential/options/depth of world. there are good stories that are relatively contained, that have a world as big as they need, that you read and enjoy and move on. but there are stories and worlds that are just. objectively really fucking great, and still have huge or at least very engaged fandoms. take tolkien. take black sails. no one's going to argue (or realistically, i suppose someone will but ykwim) that those are like. mid. but black sails (in some sense of it a story is true etc etc) is a tragedy, so you have one million moments of "oh if only this one thing had been different" and you can snowball yes-and this in one million directions at every turn and juncture. fandom catnip. tolkien's world too, in terms of plot and story-arcs, is coherent in itself and without doubt good, but the sheer incredible size of the world it is set in, of characters and relationships and little titbits that wouldn't have had a place in the main narrative, of tragedy and "what if only this one thing had been different" leaves so much potential and room for curiosity that it's a banquet for fandom! like. sure. there's mid shows that draw huge fandoms because they're mid, but (even as i know it's really not that deep don't @ me) it's just entirely nonsense to think something needs to be mid/unsatisfying/whatever to make me balls against the fall batshit feral about it. thanks for coming to my tedtalk
