Anyone have any non-backhanded tips for splatoon 3? I enjoy the game a lot even though I'm not the best at it. I'd like to get better at using the bucket weapons, paint rollers, dualies, and splattershots maybe. In turf wars I tend to ink the base first so my team has more ground coverage overall, and I just can't aim very well lol
Salmon runs I feel I'm a little better at because I'm not going against other players neccesarily but rather an npc that won't care whether i suck at the game or not. Plus salmon run makes you use different weapons and get used to them even if you dislike the weapon greatly (looking at the bows)
Don't think I'd do well in ranked at all really, don't feel I'm quite there yet but maybe someday? Also what gear sets should I try? I like being able to run and swim fast, maybe having the ghost ability on my gear is nice too. Having a few main ink saver chips is pretty handy too I think, though this is just my personal playstyle.
Sorry this turned into a rant lol, I do really really enjoy this game I'm just kinda bad at it rn :P

grand run tips for each weapon!!
Blaster: you can evaporate crowds of lesser salmonids very quickly, but be careful and back up if something gets too close!! If you’re in a sticky situation, don’t forget you have a bomb and or your special. Triumvirate tip: You can kill bosses pretty quickly too, so try focusing on gathering golden eggs to lob at the big three!
Stringer: You can turf a lot (use this for flipper floppers!) and get rid of crowds quickly, if you get close to a salmon and have all your shots hit them, you WILL do 999.9 damage! Use this to your advantage, also you can kill stingers really quick too!
Triumvirate tip: get close to the kings and use all your arrows on them, personally recommend doing it on joe because for half of the round it’ll be hunkered underground where you cant damage it.
Explosher: You have a lot of range! Use it to your advantage! You can also pierce armor on drizzlers, steelheads, and even pierce the forcefield on a slammin lid.
Triumvirate tip: Pick a god and pray.
Splatana: You may have low range, but when you’re close, you do BIG damage! Even bigger when you charge up the vertical slash, but that takes a while, so make sure the coast is clear before going in to pierce the armor of an annoying steelhead or drizzler that your teammates may have trouble getting rid of.
Triumvirate tip: Use your vertical slash’s big damage to your advantage!!!!! Please!!
Dualies: Your dodge rolls explode, and you have alot of them, if you ever find yourself overwhelmed , just hit the bricks! It’ll get you out of there in a snap, and damage some salmons too, your range is short but gets pretty long after doing a roll!
Triumvirate tip: Try killing boss salmons and grabbing golden eggs to throw at the kings, using your speed to your advantage to get around!
Charger: Squiffer main? I hardly know er! Even in the air, your charge is very fast! You can kill steelheads like any other charger, but dont forget to do two shots instead of one! You can also get through big lines of salmons real quick, but watch your ink and dont get too trigger happy Triumvirate tip: Try and focus on the kings, you have range for a reason!! Get the horroboros’ bombs to explode straight in its face!!!
Roller: You can go real fast, but you know how to use that? You can rush across the map and steamroll anything in your way to get to your goal: a boss! The roller can absolutely decimate alot of bosses by rolling. be careful with your vertical flick, it takes a while to charge up, but is like a kill everything in front of you button, basically. You can kill chinooks (the mothership guys) without using your vertical flick, just wait till they get close to the ground and jump while rolling! Triumvirate tip: go wild man idk
General tip: HAVE FUN!!!

Couple Side Order tips for ya:
-The chips do synergize so try to have mostly the same colors. But you can get away with some variety.
-lucky bomb and lucky disc chips are OP lol
-Booyah Bomb is probably the best special for Side Order but I haven’t tried them all so idk. But it’s really damn good.
-Splat Charger is really good too if you are moderately familiar with it. Even if you aren’t it’s never too late to try. Story modes make great weapon training.
-This might seem obvious for anyone with experience playing roguelikes but you gotta play to your strengths and cover your weaknesses. If you get hit a lot you should focus on armor and if you like close combat you shouldn’t worry as much about range etc. Your build should complement your playstyle, whatever it may be.

Another post dedicated to freelance salmon run employees! Lure the bosses to the basket then kill them. that way, you don't have to travel back and forth and risk the eggs getting taken by a snatcher.

Dear new players who just got Splatoon 3 for the holidays and also players who do not play Salmon Run often, please learn how to LURE!
Most Salmon Run bosses can be lured closer to the basket! Scrappers, Steel Eels, Maws, and others will follow you around. Bosses like Fishsticks and Drizzler will not actually land on the ground until they are within a certain proximity to a player.
This is SO important on maps like Marooner's Bay where grates and map layout will get in the way of efficient egg-collecting!
Don't kill the lonely Maws 5 miles away from the basket at the beginning of a wave when you can lure it closer! Don't kill goldies on a fog wave super far away when you can bring them right next to the basket!
#splatoon#splatoon 3#salmon run#splatoon salmon run#splatoon tips#salmon run tips#freelance has been hell on marooner's bay.... /lh#pleaseee please please lure bosses closer at the beginning of a wave!#you should stop luring if things are getting a bit hectic but having eggs closer to the basket makes everything infinitely easier

Splatooon Tip: Aim in Splatoon is not just about keeping your enemy in the crosshair. You also have to account for their movement and your bullet speed!
If they are moving fast, depending on your weapon and the distance you will have to aim a little at where they are going as you can see in the video.
This is because bullets have a limited speed, and by the time the bullets reach them, the opponent might have moved out of the way already.
So if you sometimes end up confused or frustrated why you aren't hitting an opponent even tho they are right in your crosshair, it isn't always due to shot rng! (and, as a sidenote, it never is due to lag)
Calling out movement is a super important skill to develop in Splatoon, and this is just one small area where it shows.
This can be important for nearly all weapons except for chargers, but as you might imagine it can be very exaggerated for weapons like the Explosher, Bloblobber, Hydra Splatling, Splatana Stamper on its vertical swing, and for the Inkjet special.

if you’re playing clam blitz and you have a power clam (the big clam) and you are able to throw the clam to score, do it. even if you miss, a teammate might be behind you to rebound.
if you aren’t comfortable with throwing the power clam, throw your clams to another teammate (using the “A” button)
don’t wait for an opportunity to appear where you can throw it and not get splatted because 99% of the time you aren’t going to make it out. so throw it and let your teammates boost with their clams.
everyone can see you have a power clam so even the most braindead idiots playing this game will see a big glowing spot and shoot at it which means you are the #1 target and are likely to be splatted

If you are ever having trouble with tricolor turf wars, every time you grab the ultra symbol, the time it takes to secure it is reduced. So I just charge it with a brush and quick respawn.

SPLATOON TURF TIPS
these are mostly more basic stuff for people starting out, or those that are only used to strategy in salmon run. obviously, the meta is ever changing. but this is coming from someone who’s played since 2 came out.
and this does NOT apply to modes like tower control, splat zones, etc. those are all much more specific
this depends on your playstyle / weapon of course, but GENERALLY you want to be balancing between kills and spreading ink
knowing the turf stages will help you. if youre not super familiar with one, try scoping it out (yes, you can load yourself into an empty stage, check it out)
when you have the chance, ink walls that lead up to platforms, especially on your side. you never know when youll need to make a quick getaway
okay everyone makes a big deal of inking base and like yeah thats important but NOT WHEN YOU FIRST SPAWN AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME. do not ink your entire base or even most of it. your job is to get to the middle and start inking when youre close. quickly survey the area and attempt to take control of it before the other team can. there will be carnage - thats okay as long as you dont get team wiped.
IF anything, ONE person can ink a bit more before they reach middle (think: brushes)
when you die, take a few seconds each time to ink base. that way it will likely be inked by the end of the game but you wont be abandoning the middle, which is the most important area
that also being said, if your team doesnt seem to be in crisis and most are gathered in the middle, if its not the first minute of the game and you see a blank spot on your side (you know, those out of the way paths) cover it! that can make the difference in a close game.
during the match, if someones already taking a sec to ink near base, just head on to middle. and in the beginning, do not all take the same path from base to middle. unless youre in combat there usually isnt any reason to be on top of each other
if you keep dying in middle, take an alternate path, OR attempt to charge your special
before the game starts, pay attention to YOUR TEAMS and the OPPOSING TEAMS weapons. mostly you just need to identify the types of weapons they have. thatll help you get a feel for what kind of fight is ahead
this is obvious i think, but using a special usually makes you vulnerable for a few seconds while it sets up (tenta missiles is a good example), or after its done (stamper) people will see you and try to kill you, especially when you first activate it
try not to get cocky if your team is pushing into the other's base. if you dont see anyone for a bit they have gone around you and are taking middle from you
never give up. generally speaking, unless youre getting absolutely swamped or something went wrong (a dc) the game is not decided until the last 15 seconds. and even then, if its a close match, keep going for every bit of time youve got
in line with that, once youre in the last 5 seconds, stop traveling and avoid fights. you only want to ink as much as you can now
if youre just starting out, your best bet is to decide on a weapon or weapon style (ie - brush, shooter, etc) and get good at it. remember you can test them out in the shop! but at least buy a few to mess around with
have a clear idea of what you contribute to a match. do you focus a bit more on kills? do you slip around to ink as much as you can? do you hang back and snipe? do you get in people’s faces and distract them for your friends? or some kind of balance / combination?

Decided that I should share some of April's in-game outfits with y'all (with a side of helpful tips to go along with each one!) (note: tips are limited to just splat dualies, splatana wiper deco, and dread wringer). Just imagine all of these with the 8-bit glasses (and well, April being just a little shorter and with lighter blue hair)
Avenger of Chaos (normal outfit/redesign outfit)
The chunks used in this outfit are best fit for splat dualies usage (on a side note, I wanted this outfit to be best suited for splat dualies because before I broadened my weapon horizons with the splatana wiper deco & dread wringer, April's sole main weapon was the splat dualies)
8-Bit Heroine (Return of the Mammalians outfit)
The chunks in this outfit can help you out for both splat dualies and splatana wiper deco usage (but this set works best with splatana wiper deco!)
Technicolor Terror (alt. normal outfit #1)
The chunks in this outfit come in handy for splatana wiper deco usage!
Deep Fried (alt. normal outfit #2)
I used these chunks specifically for dread wringer usage (I wanted to use the crust bucket paper crown, whatter that one's actually called, for this set, but I didn't have enough chunks to change my paper crown's main ability to run speed up so I used something that'd match the outfit's color scheme and had run speed up on it already: the dustcloud cap!)
(outfit name tbd! still thinking about what I should call this specific outfit and when April would use this. maybe for side order? idk)
I made this outfit just today so I'm still testing out which one of my mains are the most compatible with this layout, but as far as I know this setup's really good with splatana wiper deco! I did try it out with dread wringer for a bit and it's okay, but I still need to see how effective the set is since I only used this set up with dread wringer for only 3 matches.

Because the enemy has the general control of the map, high chances that they’re not gonna look backwards and keep you guys contained. But I’ve been in quite a few turf battles to have a good idea of what to do. A good like, half of the maps have a path from spawn to mid so these will likely work out fine with any weapon if every factor is in play correctly.
be me
be an inkbrush
you can zip around everywhere. This will be your advantage.
go around the sides and splat them from behind. 40% of the time they won’t see.
it’s not a reliable strat. They almost always see. Chuck bombs instead and build up your special.
once that’s all charged up, activate it, and CHAAAARRGE!
YOUR ZIP IS YOUR ADVANTAGE. YOU APPROACH THEM WITH ENDLESS RANGE DEATH BEAMS AT A HIGH VELOCITY
if you use the behind strat, they’re trapped and there’s nowhere to run. They’ll be distracted giving your teammates a chance to splat whoever survived the carnage.
if everything goes to plan, you should get a wipeout.
if you don’t wanna do that, then drop that plan and go to the next plan
get out of spawn as FAST AS YOU CAN and run towards their base. But don’t go IN their base. They can easily superjump back to their spawn and take you out. So instead go to the part between mid and their base.
ink general area and call teammates ‘to me!’
they’ll realize what had happened eventually but it’s too late. You’ve already taken back control of half of the general area of the map. If you guys are quick enough, you‘ e just made a last minute win of the game.
I have been on both sending and receiving ends of these strats. So I have an idea of what to do but again this doesn’t work on all maps with all weapons yada yada. I know these tips were uncalled and unasked for but I hope you find them at least some useful if you haven’t done these before
this shouldnt be fucking ALLOWED
#splatoon#splatoon 3#splatoon tips#ech im in no obligation to say I’m a pro at this#these are all just things I’ve gathered from the battles I’ve been in#so if these don’t work please don’t come after me
