Very minor spoiler alert for Spiritfarer Pretty much no content warnings. Maybe, maaaaaybe a "character death" warning but that's debatable since this was literally made from the game's trailer. Side note: This is more of a rescore than a full on Spiritfarer edit. The music and game fit really well, and maybe I'll do a more full Spiritfarer edit later, but since the trailer hit the beats and lyrics worked so nicely from the start, I didn't really want to spend weeks finding footage and editing and sampling stuff when I could just move forward with this now and have it completed. Last night we began our first episode of a full on-stream play-through of Spiritfarer, the critically acclaimed game about loss and grief and I know it’s not going to be easy for me.  After the traumatic circumstances involving my father’s dementia or his injuries from his war days and losing almost every other relative I have, this game hits me especially hard.  I also know that I need to play this game but I’m not sure why I know that. I’m not sure if it makes sense but maybe this game will help me right now with what I’m going through. 

I don’t want to spoil too much about the game so-far, but its absolutely charming in many ways.  It’s a mix of everything I enjoy about games and the art style is adorable.  I would have liked to maybe have seen a bit more depth to the game but I can deal with a fairly simple micromanagement simulator if the story is worth-it. 

The basics are that I’m in the afterlife and Charon, the ferryman, has given me and my cat, Daffodil, the role of Ferry Captain of souls to the afterlife.  I have picked up several souls, apparently people I knew and cared about quite a bit.  I’m currently gathering resources to feed them, keep them comfortable and happy by giving them fun things to do with their time on my boat until I can finally find a way to take them to their destination, and I’m not even sure where that is.

As far as the story goes, I have many thoughts right now.  I’ve already spent a time crying about what I think might be happening in the story.  All is not as it seems.  These people I am picking up are treating me in several ways that don’t add-up in the way that these being my relatives might.  I’m calling them by their proper first names, not a parent or grandparent, and I’m only calling one an “uncle” which might also be a term of endearment. These individuals also seem like they’ve been here longer than me, which leads me to believe I’m younger.  Either I’m their friend or I’m someone they care greatly about and I’m not directly related to them, perhaps, at most, a niece.  My fear is that I’m a hospital worker and these are residents.  The reason I fear that is because that means the people meeting me after I passed away aren’t my family. 

Anyway, so far I’ve met Gwen, Summer and Uncle Atul, but I’m sure there will be many more.  Gwen is sweet but distant, obviously something is bothering her and yet she’s strangely familiar.  Summer is also sweet and rather warm, loving and a little hippie, in a good way, she strikes me as someone I would very-much get along with.  Uncle Atul is the uncle I never had and reminds me a lot of my grandfather, for the short time I was lucky enough to have him with me.

I finished spiritfarer and it’s such a beautiful but sad game ;w; You need to help spirits pass into the afterlife. I really recommend it.

Hello mes kitsune, I'm back !!! Après des semaines de confinement et une belle petite canicule, je suis de retour. C'est un petit jeu indépendant créé par @thunderlotus qui se trouve être une petite merveille 🤩 Une aventure où l'on suit Stella et Daffodil, devenus passeurs d'âmes, les personnages sont tellement attachants et au fil des heures, ça te prend tellement aux tripes, ça te tire des larmes et te fait réfléchir, sur les regrets, le lâcher prise et le passage de la vie à la mort.
