Whatever kind of agency ai and hazuki works for they ought to have the most skilled, highly-intelligent, government-type ops managers cuz they just let hazuki go ghost hunting with a thug and a son of yakuza and let ai hang around a cursed middle-aged man and a deliquent and leaves untainted to their reputation

What if the spirit hunter franchise was actually good? (aka what if Princess Mach was a real spirit and there was a cool ghost horse)
Tumblr media
I've been wanting to design them for a while because the idea is truly such a wasted opportunity... Bonus thoughts on how they could actually fit into the game : -)

Both Hazuki's and Seiji's death scenes in the Kubitauro chapter are fascinating in the way they were directed Hazuki's death is awful but they're is a bitter sweetness to it, she did get that last conversation with Akira, even if it was unbeknownst to him and it does continue to highlight Akira being a caring guy at his core. Having the children's song play at the end of the scene gives the malicious edge to Hazuki's death, almost mocking him for failing to save Hazuki but again there's an element of peace in it because it gives off the impression that Hazuki doesn't have regrets about her actions even if the outcome was tragic. Seiji's death scene is honestly just wild to me in terms of analysis. Like first you don't get a final conversation scene but instead Akira desperately trying to reach Seiji with the song playing on the phone. Obviously with Akira being more on edge and desperate here makes sense as Seiji is his best friend but we've never seen him lose his composure in this way until this moment! And here he doesn have a feeling something is really wrong and books it back to Kintoki!! Circling back to the children's song and Kubitarou's motivations and grudge, it's been about making offerings to being back loved ones and the fact its mentioned in this moment leads to Akira dashing off to go find Seji to make sure he's ok and he's finds Seiji's head as an offering so it all just comes full circle where Kubitauro's sacrifices never brought her little brother back but Seiji's death as an offering back Akira back to Seiji in a messed up grim way. Having the singing play officially here really solidifies this for me and it just sucker punches you as a player Both deaths lead to the happy satisfied singing of Kubitarou but it doesn't convey the same feeling for Hazuki's and Seiji's death. Hazuki's feels like Kubitauro saying, "I couldn't get what I want so I'm taking away something from you." whereas with Seiji's I feel like I get the feeling more of, "hehe this is what we both wanted for outselves right? for the people we love to come to us?"
