EARTHGANG SHARES NEW EP ROBOPHOBIA
Tumblr media
The GRAMMY-nominated Atlanta-based duo, EARTHGANG have just shared their new genre-bending EP Robophobia which includes features from Snoop Dogg, Spillage Village, and Tommy Newport as well as a new video for their lead single "Blacklight" (feat. Spillage Village). Since signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records in 2017, EARTHGANG have emerged as the contemporary torchbearers of Afrofuturism, continuing to redefine what’s possible in Hip-Hop by blending sounds that challenge the status quo. After debuting on the Billboard charts with their 2019 album Mirrorland (#22 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart), the duo has gone on to receive GRAMMY nominations for two of their songs – Best Rap Performance for "Down Bad" featuring J. Cole, JID, Bas & Young Nudy (395M+ Streams) and Best R&B Song for "Collide" with Tiana Major9 (100M+ Streams) off the Queen & Slim Soundtrack. Winning the BET Award for Best Duo Or Group in 2022, EARTHGANG have maintained their momentum with impactful cultural moments like creating their single "Swing" featuring Benji (24M+ Streams) for Marvel's Spider Man 2 and their partnership with Nike for their ESSENTIALS campaign. Returning with the spiritual successor to 2023's RIP Human Art EP, EARTHGANG have just released their new 5-track EP Robophobia – out now via UnitedMasters.
youtube
The second project in the duo’s EARTHGANG vs the Algorithm series, Robophobia picks up right where RIP Human Art left off, literally falling from the top of the building depicted on the cover of their previous EP – taking listeners on a wild ride through a dystopian future, examining the effects of contemporary technologies like AI on humanity. Serving as a bleak warning as to what the future could hold at the hands of AI, EARTHGANG’s highly-conceptual new EP has been teased using clever adverts and a toll-free number leading into its release—offering a lighthearted and satirical take on the otherwise daunting subject matter. With production influenced by elements of Funk, Rock and Hip-Hop, Robophobia creates a rhythmic soundscape that offers a contrast to the darker Sci-Fi themes inherent in the lyrics, lending a familiarity to the EP which will resonate with longstanding EARTHGANG fans while also welcoming new fans with their cinematic world-building.

EARTHGANG SHARE NEW ALBUM PERFECT FANTASY
Tumblr media
Ahead of their upcoming international tour, ATL GRAMMY-nominated and Billboard chart-topping rap duo, EARTHGANG, have just shared their new album Perfect Fantasy — out now via UnitedMasters. The LP arrives alongside an accompanying music video for the PharrellWilliams-produced record “U Gotta”. Shot in Tokyo, the Hideyuki Ishii-directed video finds EARTHGANG embracing Japanese culture by exploring the colorful city, mingling with fans, go-karting, and capping it all off with a dance party at an undisclosed location. In addition to Pharrell, Perfect Fantasy includes features from Snoop Dogg, Little Dragon, Cochise, Damon Albarn, and T-Pain, who guested on lead single “Love You More”. Bucking industry trends alongside the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Perfect Fantasy is EARTHGANG’s first independently-released album, allowing them to drop it on a Tuesday instead of Friday, which gives fans the chance to live with the music throughout the week.
youtube
A conceptual project that explores the effects of AI on society, Perfect Fantasy is the final chapter in their EARTHGANG VS. The Algorithm series and finds the duo questioning the ways advanced technologies are consuming our lives while dreaming of an alternate universe where humans could live more freely. Perfect Fantasy boasts a vast sonic landscape, transporting listeners from the dark backswamps of “Bobby Boucher” to the sunkissed cityscapes of “OSMOSIS” to the technicolor nightclubs of the T-Pain assisted "Love You More". The project authentically brings to life the world of Tokyolanta — a “Perfect Fantasy," Y2K-inspired version of the future where tech is fun again, rather than the present reality of a divisive, impersonal data algorithm. Perfect Fantasy’s sonic and creative narrative highlights EARTHGANG’s authentic voice, one that brings people together and animates the living and breathing soul of global humanity. In the age of AI, EARTHGANG fight back, as Perfect Fantasy represents the future we all thought would be here by now in 2024.
The EARTHGANG VS. The Algorithm trilogy began in 2023 with the first installment—RIP Human Art, which was the duo’s first release since 2020’s critically-acclaimed Ghetto Gods album. In an interview with VICE, EARTHGANG foreshadowed their second installment of the series, Robophobia, which was released in early 2024. Since the release of Robophobia in February, they have been exploring interests outside of music, appearing on the Danny Brown Show to talk about attending DreamCon, appearing in Men’s Health to open up about maintaining their mental and physical health, and throwing community events through their EARTHGANG Foundation. Towards the completion of Perfect Fantasy the ATL duo was inspired by a trip to Japan, which provided the finishing touches on the album—a stunning balance of EARTHGANG's roots and perspective of the future. Continuing to detail the themes behind the album, EARTHGANG (WowGr8 and Olu) recently spoke with BET about Perfect Fantasy and made their first appearance with On The Radar to perform “Zone” and “Bobby Boucher”. The BET Award-winning group are a unique standout in the flourishing Atlanta music scene, serving as an ever-flowing oasis of musical experimentation — and redefining what’s possible in Hip-Hop by blending sounds that challenge the status quo.

"I'm barely here, how I ain't present
Yeah, I drift for a second
Forgot to reply to your message
But only she, I been the same in your presence
Countin' the seconds, before I reply to your message
My biggest fear, is that I have to say goodbye another time
So I skip town on our moment, hopefully prolongin' this
I don't need nobody new to miss
(I like this)
I want you to know, ooh"
