FLUSTERED - Spike Fearn

Spike sat in his trailer, running lines for the upcoming scene, but his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts about Tessa. The moment she entered the room, everything else faded away. Her laughter was like music, her presence like sunlight breaking through the clouds. He tried to focus, but the mere thought of her made his heart race.

As the crew set up for their next shot, Tessa strolled over, her hair cascading over her shoulders. "Hey, Spike! Ready to nail this scene?" she asked, flashing him a smile that sent butterflies fluttering in his stomach.

"Uh, yeah! Totally!" he stammered, feeling heat rise to his cheeks. Why was it so hard to speak around her? He glanced down at his script, desperately trying to gather his thoughts.

“Do you want to run lines together?” she asked, leaning closer. Spike’s breath caught in his throat. All he could do was nod, wishing he could find his voice. They practiced their dialogue, and every time she looked at him, he felt like he might melt. Her eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, and he was lost in their depths.

As they rehearsed, Tessa occasionally brushed against him, her touch sending electric jolts through his body. He fumbled over his words, mixing up lines and stumbling through the scene. Tessa laughed softly, a sound that made his heart soar, but he felt mortified. "I’m so sorry! I’m usually better than this!" he blurted out, his embarrassment palpable.

“Hey, don’t worry about it. We all have off days,” she reassured him, her voice warm and understanding. The kindness in her tone made him feel a little less flustered, but his palms were still clammy.

When they finally finished, Tessa leaned back in her chair, her expression thoughtful. “You really have a great vibe on set. It’s fun to work with you.”

“Thanks! I—uh, I think you’re amazing,” he said, the words spilling out before he could stop himself. He immediately regretted it, cheeks burning even hotter.

Tessa’s eyes widened slightly, and for a heartbeat, the world seemed to stand still. Then, she laughed softly, a hint of pink creeping into her cheeks. “You’re sweet, Spike. Really.”

His heart raced at her reaction, and he quickly looked away, unable to handle the intensity of her gaze. “I just mean, you know, you’re a great actress!”

“Thanks!” she said, her smile brightening. “And you’re a great actor too. Seriously, don’t sell yourself short.”

As the day wore on, Spike found it increasingly difficult to concentrate. Every time Tessa laughed or looked his way, his thoughts scattered. He caught himself daydreaming about what it would be like to ask her out, but the idea terrified him. What if she didn’t feel the same?

Later, as they were packing up for the day, Tessa turned to him, her expression sincere. “You’re really fun to be around. We should hang out outside of work sometime!”

His heart leapt, and he nodded eagerly. “Yes! That would be… great!” But as the words left his mouth, he felt a mix of excitement and dread. What if he flubbed it? What if she was just being nice?

As Tessa walked away, Spike couldn’t shake the warmth of her words. Maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for something more. With newfound determination, he decided he would muster the courage to take that leap. After all, he had to find a way to tell her how he truly felt—flustered or not.
