I finally wrestled out the words for this one. Just my alien man being fascinated about mundane human things and being home sick.

Ke'flen was hovering over Viljo in the kitchen. “What are you doing?”

When Viljo didn’t answer he walked to the mysterious machine. Whatever Viljo was putting into the machine smelled strong and bitter, almost like dirt. Viljo finally spoke. “I’m making coffee.”

“What is it? We don’t have it back home.”

“Well, it’s a drink made from roasted coffee beans. I don’t really care for the taste but I can’t function without a cup in the morning.”

“Oh, we make some drinks out of plants too. Nothing that smells so bad though. No offense.

“None taken. I think it’s pretty gross. It’s an addictive habit.” He was done measuring the dark powder into the machine and walked to the sink to get water.

He looked at the all the buttons on the machine. He didn’t understand why such a simple looking machine needed so many buttons. “What does this one do? And why’s there so many buttons?”

“These are for changing the flavor of it. Makes it more bearable to get it down. Oh, and these are for changing the temperature of the water. You shouldn’t use boiling water because it makes it taste really bitter.”

“I see. What’s your favorite?”

“I think I like the fruity ones the best. Chocolate is good too.”

After a few minutes the machine was done and Viljo poured himself a cup. “Do you want to taste some?”

He nodded and Viljo poured out another cup. “I made chocolate this time. I know you haven’t tasted real chocolate yet but I think they managed to make the flavoring really close to the real thing. “

He took the cup in his hands and smelled the drink. Behind the bitter aroma he could smell something sweet. He took a small sip careful not to burn his mouth. The taste wasn’t quite as bitter as it smelled but it was pleasantly cut by the sweet taste of chocolate. “Oh, this isn’t so bad. Smells worse than it is. The flavoring really helps too.”

“I’m glad you like it. Doesn’t beat the real thing. We should try to get some. It’s not super easy finding it these days. There’s not much room to grow it after we’ve been expanding so much. As you might have noticed there’s not much nature left.”

“I can’t imagine what it’s like to live in a world like this. Back home we have a lot of nature and our buildings are build in ways that don’t destroy the surroundings when possible. We mostly live in natural hills or mounds we’ve build. Leaves a plenty of room for gardens and wild flowers.”

“That sounds lovely. You miss it?”

“I do. I’m worried I’ll never get back. I miss my family and my other partners. Having Gel’nir around is a blessing but I do miss them a lot.”

Viljo put his hand on his shoulder. “I can’t even imagine being away from home and not knowing if I’ll ever see my loved ones again. I’m here for you.”

“Thank you. For everything you’ve done for us. I don’t know where we’d be without your kindness.”

“It’s no trouble at all. I’ve had times when I’ve needed the same kindness and I’m simply paying it back.”

I bought an over priced toy that I had to open. (Not because I wanted to, but because the box is closed of and I wanted to see my toy)

Marvel Legends Space Knight Venom and Mania 2 pack.

I’m not a big Venom fan, But I will buy any Marvel merch based on the comics, in high hopes that they quit beating the dead horse that is the MCU.

I do actually like the initiative to cut down on plastics, and it makes the packaging fell like older collectibles from way back in the day.

But, Man! I miss the window that shows the figures off.

Thats his start to life!!

Since, in this au, mutants were experiments created by an organization in New York, their start of lives are REALLY FUCKING LAME.

Specifically Beta mutants, which is what Sandy is.

Beta Mutants are mutated animals who are just Wrong. They’re still animals, just stronger and more dangerous and theyre MEAN. At Sandy’s time of “birth” (being mutated into a turtle tot), he was one of the last rounds of tests for the “Beta” mutagen since the “Alpha” mutagen testing was showing better progress for mutants with humanity and intellect.

Aka: Beta mutants (Sandy) were feral animals mutated. Alpha mutants (his brothers + splinter) are regular mutants like from the show.

Sandy didn’t have a very nice start of life because of this!! Which is why the song is kinda somber about life in general.

When the song kicks up intensity, that’s the real start of Sandy’s story; when the Beta mutants overran the scientists and started wreaking havoc on New York to turn it into the dystopia it is currently!!

Spider-Man Villains (Part 1)

A follow up to the Spider-Men pieces, my take on five different Spider-Men villains.

Green Goblin - I took inspiration from the Raimi Spider-Man design of Green Goblin, which probably was my first exposure to the character- although I also took inspiration from Evangelion mechs. There's those pops of purple I also implemented to sort of make it so it's not just entirely green, although I did try to keep that iridescent metal shading that gives off that purple tint that the Raimi suit had.

Kindred - Kindred is one of those villains I think just needs some tweaking to make truly great. I sort of took inspiration from The Lich but also generally giving him a bit more of a "look". Had to include the centipede.

White Rabbit - White Rabbit's white face kind of gives me the feeling I do seeing a clown- bad vibes. I sort of took some inspiration from a more obscure appearance from her but also DVA. Gave her those bugged out eyes.

The Prowler (Hobie Brown) - So like, Hobie Brown is The Prowler in the 616 continuity, Hobie wasn't like, designed to be Spider-Punk. That came later. I sort of went back to those roots but bringing in that Spider-Punk vibe to the design as well. It was really fun!

Mania - In my mind, Andrea Benton is absolutely friends with this version of Hobie. They're not so much villains as they are against the establishment. Her design is mostly faithful but I gave her sort of a more turtleneck hoodie influence, adding tongue "drawstrings" that makes her just look a little alien and offputting.
