Hi, I've seen a lot of posts about ADHD and I've looked up a bunch of lists of symptoms and I relate to/ do almost all of the stuff mentioned. The problem is that I also have Anxiety and depression and a lot of the symptoms overlap. Is there a way to find out if I have ADHD without having to worry if it's just symptoms of everything else?

If you see a doctor, they’ll take into account that you have the other disorders, and look for the symptoms that only ADHD has to decide if you have it. But, because of this ask, I decided to make a handy Venn Diagram to show which symptoms overlap, and which are specific to one of the disorders:

CB AU: I'm pretty sure Aizawa canonically has a soft spot for vigilantes(idk I haven't read any of the Aizawa backstory stuff yet) so Perhaps he met Dabi during patrol at some point and figured out who he was, eventually convincing him to be his TA because "there's no way I'm dealing with those two alone, damnit"

Oh he’s run into Dabi a time or two on the streets and is pretty chill with vigilantes but Nezu is the one who sees the chaos and is like “oh this’ll be fun”

If a fic tagged 'BDSM' also has 'Dubious Consent' tagged and it's not specified that it isn't the main pairing I automatically assume that it's abuse. Like I know nothing about BDSM except what I've read in fics and online but if they don't go over what they're willing and not willing to do beforehand or it doesn't explicitly state that they're paying attention to the other's boundaries then I always feel like it's not healthy? I don't know if that's just me..

I mean, if that’s the way you want to take it, I’m not going to tell you to stop, but I feel like it’s not as cut and dry as that.

Even with the context of the additional “BDSM” tag, the “dubious consent” tag does not always mean that it’s an abusive situation. Sometimes it’s just a tag to cover bases (“I don’t think this is dubious because I am the writer and know my intentions but perhaps it’s not as clear to readers so I’ll warn them” or “The dubiousness is part of the scene and is not addressed as such until the end and I don’t want anyone to be blind-sided by the concept”).

And sometimes the consent is even just... dubious. Like, the person says yes, and when checked-in-with they want to continue, but during the actual act they’re still portrayed as uncomfortable and in the end they’re like “Hmm... really didn’t like that at all actually....” It doesn’t mean the act was abusive, just that there wasn’t enough communication between the people involved. Sometimes mistakes happen. That doesn’t mean dubious consent is inherently abusive. Personally, I love a dubious consent tag.

So I work at a factory, which usually isn't an issue, but my boss banned headphones for the week and they've somehow come to the conclusion that me doodling on a few sticky notes so I don't zone out has slowed down the line. Somehow. Anyways, I can't listen to my usual podcasts or music, and I can't draw to keep myself focused, so I inevitably ended up daydreaming. I somehow got to the topic of what I'd do if I won a million dollars and I was actually thinking about it because I was bored, and I ended up making a list in my head of everything I would buy, who I'd buy it for, who I'd give money to, etcetera. and then I started actually trying to count up how much everything would cost so I basically spent the last three hours of work trying to do math in my head because I couldn't write it down despite the fact that, not only am I bad at math, but I really, really hate it. And I couldn't stop because there was literally nothing else to do and because I was distracted with trying to keep the numbers straight in my head I wasn't working as fast as I usually can...

.. sorry for rambling, it's just really frustrating. ANYWAYS, what I was planning on asking in the first place. Is getting stuck on a topic like this an adhd thing or is it something else? Or is it just me

(I did figure out what I'd do with up to $872.000 though, so if I ever somehow win the lottery at least I know I won't be completely irresponsible with the money 😅)

Haha I don’t mind the ramble! And honestly, that’s something I’ve done before, too XD It’s fun to figure out what you’d spend money on!

And, yeah, that’s absolutely an ADHD thing. Sometimes we end up hyperfocusing on one thing, which means that one thing gets all of our attention for a few hours, until we snap out of it.

Hi again! I think you might have talked about this at some point already, but can you hyperfixate on foods or drinks? I've been getting an iced coffee with extra ice from Dunkin donuts every day before work since September and even though it's not always good coffee I still get it, and it feels off when I don't even if I get something else in it's place... Also, can constantly wanting to chew ice be a sensory thing? I've tried to stop because, y'know, it's bad for my teeth, but every time I try I always end up feeling horrible? Definitely more depressed than usual at least...

And, yes, that can be a sensory thing! It sounds like a type of oral stimming--something that’s meant to be calming for us. Maybe try chewing gum instead? But I know that’s not the same texture, and it tends to be the texture of things that we like, so it’s not a great replacement.

(1/2) AU where lil Izu starts taking videos of villain attacks/hero fights to analyze at home and, while trying to get Endeavor's autograph, accidentally catches him screaming some things that should definitely not be said to a child at Shoto. Izu obviously tell his mom, and Inko, being both a Lawyer and a Mother, immediately starts a file on him. And being Izuku's mother it's very in depth with a terrifying amount of personal information and evidence that can throw him in jail.

(2/2) Aka Shoto finds a hero in a tiny, terrifying Lawyer and her equally tiny and terrifying son. Aka Shoto becomes a lawyer because Izuku is definitely going to need one when he becomes a hero.

Izuku tells Inko who then tells Izuku to go feral and get all the information he can while she does the same.

This all snowballs, leads to All Might getting involved which leads to Izuku being chosen for OfA, Inko and All Might dating, and then once they get her out of the hospital Rei possibly ends up dating both of them.

Endeavour ends up getting his entire wife/family/career stolen by All Might and his evil green girlfriend/possible spawn and Shouto falls head over heels in love.

Then there’s the added hilarity of Shouto being like “whelp gotta rearrange my entire life plan and double major in Law because no one else is going to be able to keep my future husband out of jail, hero license or not”.

For those who take adhd medication: does it effect your hyperfixations? Does it make them fade, or does it stay the same, but more manageable?

Because I love being able to focus solely on one thing that I love, even if it does get in the way of things sometimes. I've been able to draw and write so many things and make so many friends through the fandoms I've focused on and I don't want to loose that just to make my life a bit easier.

(Then again, I haven't even been able to get properly diagnosed yet so I might be thinking too far ahead here 😅)

When I get really excited or happy I sort of knock my hands(or I guess wrists would be more accurate?) together or against my shoulder, most of the time without really noticing, is it a form of stimming?

I was scrolling through the Tony stark tag because I heard he was mentioned a few times in the falcon and the winter soldier episode, but there's so much tony hate... which is fucking stupid because from what I've seen so far it's about Tony not paying the avengers??? Didn't we go over this already, it's not his responsibility!!!

I love how they gonna try to find ridiculous new ways to drag my boy continuously after he died to save the universe and spent a decade holding the MCU on his back.  Like god it must be something to know that you’ll never escape Tony Stark even when the man’s been dead and gone for a while now.

Is it okay to describe yourself as 'hyperfixating' if you're not completely sure you have ADHD? I haven't had the time to set up a therapist to talk to yet but I'm 90% sure I have inattentive ADHD or something similar to it based off the symptoms. I just don't want to accidentally offend someone by using it before I get a certain diagnosis.

As long as you do believe that you have ADHD, and are aware of what it really is (as opposed to being a ‘fidgeting, underdisciplined white boy-exclusive disorder’), it’s totally okay to use the terminology associated with it.

I don't know if it's just me, but I genuinely hate it when people just refer to Izuku as Deku? Like most of the fandom does, and it makes me uncomfortable for some reason.. because it always feels like they've all forgotten his real name (and I've actually talked to some people who were *confused* when I called him Izuku). It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I can understand that. I think the feelings on Izuku “reclaiming” Deku are mixed in certain parts of fandom and I can absolutely see both sides.
