FOODS IN EVERY COUNTRY
PRESENTED BY:
Tumblr media
GERMANY
Tumblr media
Rouladen
This typical German dish consists of bacon, onions, mustard, and pickles wrapped in thinly sliced beef or veal which is then cooked. Rouladen is also considered to be part of traditional Polish cuisine in the Upper Silesia region. Here it is known as rolada Śląska (Silesian roulade). It is also famous in Czechia where it is called Španělský ptáček (Spanish bird). While the mixture varies from region to region, beef has become popular over the last century. The cut is usually topside beef or silverside since this is the cheaper cut. You will find this hearty German food at festivals and family dinner tables across the country. It usually comes with dumplings, mashed potatoes, Blaukraut (cooked red cabbage), and red wine gravy.
SPAIN
Tumblr media
GAZPACHO
Gazpacho, cold soup of Spanish cuisine, especially that of Andalusia. It is an ancient dish mentioned in Greek and Roman literature, although two of the main ingredients of the modern version, tomatoes and green peppers, were brought to Spain from the New World only in the 16th century. Spanish cookbooks classify gazpacho as a salad. The most frequently encountered gazpacho is an uncooked mixture of tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, water, vinegar, onions, cucumbers, and green peppers, thickened with bread crumbs. The word gazpacho is derived from the Arabic for “soaked bread.” Gazpacho may be served with croutons, additional chopped vegetables, and chopped egg that the diners add to taste. The gazpacho of Málaga province in Andalusia is based on almonds and contains grapes.
JAPAN
Tumblr media
Sashimi
is a Japanese delicacy made out of thinly sliced raw fish or beef that is frequently consumed. a Japanese meal consisting of bite-sized raw fish chunks served with soy sauce and wasabi paste. Sashimi is raw meat that is thinly sliced and served without rice, usually fish. Sashimi is usually a form of salmon or tuna. Mackerel, yellowtail, shrimp, scallops, clams, and octopus are all popular sashimi options. Sashimi literally translates as "pierced fish."       According to one theory, it originated as "namasu," a dish of sliced raw fish and vegetables seasoned with vinegar that was served at the Japanese court during the Heian period. Another theory links the origins of sashimi to the sliced fish that fishermen sold as a type of fast food during the Kamakura period.
ITALY
Tumblr media
Polenta and cured meats
Holiday in the north of Italy and you’ll find dishes take on a warm, comforting feel to suit its cooler climate. Polenta is one such dish. Polenta consists of cheery yellow cornmeal, cooked with generous amounts of butter and parmesan – it’s a hearty meal capable of warming the chilliest of toes. Look out for this Italian answer to mashed potato in the snowy resorts of
Arabba
and
Val di Fassa
.
You’re probably familiar with the deeply tantalising flavours of salami - Italy’s most famous cured meat - but it’s well worth tucking into some of the lesser-known varieties. Nduja, for example, is a spreadable spicy pork sausage produced in
Calabria
, the arch of Italy’s boot. Served as part of your pre-dinner antipasti alongside plump olives and regional cheese, it’s the perfect way to start an evening.
KOREA
Tumblr media
Korean stew (jjigae)
There are many different varieties of jjigae in Seoul, but this Korean stew usually contains meat, seafood or vegetables in a broth seasoned with hot pepper paste (gochujang), fermented miso (gaenjang), soybean paste, or salted fermented shrimp (saeujeot). Usually served as a palate cleanser between heavier dishes, jjigae has a similar consistency to a western stew.
One of the most popular jjigae dishes in Seoul is budae jjigae (army stew), which incorporates bacon, sausages, and Spam meat as well as ramyeon noodles and rice cakes mixed with gochujang paste for a spicy flavour.
CANADA
Tumblr media
Poutine
Canadian dishes are as world-renowned as the glorious creation known as poutine. Crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds and rich gravy all combine to create the meal of dreams, and this French Canadian food is so popular that it can now be found all around the world. The classic version is great on its own, but toppings like pulled pork, bacon and smoked meat really knock it out of the park – and at an average price of £3.50, it won’t break the bank either.
PHILIPPINES
Tumblr media
Adobo
It’s the Filipino dish everybody knows — the mighty
adobo
. It is made by stewing meat (usually chicken, pork, or a combination of both) in soy sauce and vinegar, adding peppercorns and bay leaves for that special flavour. Bonus leftovers tip: pull the meat from the bone and fry ’til crispy for some tasty adobo flakes.
THAILAND
Tumblr media
Pad Kra Prao
The go-to dish for a Thai local when he is unsure about what to eat on a night out, this minced pork and rice à la carte dish can be eaten at any time of the day. Typically served alongside steamed jasmine rice, Pad Kra Prao comes with a side of fatty minced pork stir-fried with Thai holy basil and seasoned with fish sauce and chopped chilli. Other variations include beef, chicken, or seafood ingredients stir-fried with basil, cowpeas, bamboo shoots, and topped with a fried egg.
RUSSIA
Tumblr media
Blini (Russian pancakes)
Russian cuisine was heavily influenced by religious traditions. For example, the custom of baking pancakes has been preserved from the days of paganism: people used to bake pancakes, round, just like the sun. Russian pancakes are very thin and not sweet like French crêpes, but you are encouraged to add any filling of your choice. The Traditional ones are pancakes with sour cream and salmon, caviar or mushrooms, and for the those of you with a sweet tooth – condensed milk or berries. There is even a special holiday, Maslenitsa, which happens every year one week before the start of spring, when for the whole week we, Russians, eat pancakes
CHINA
Tumblr media
Hot pot, or hotpot (火锅 huǒguō),
is one of the most popular dishes in China, especially in Sichuan Province or
Chongqing
. People cook in and eat from a simmering pot of soup stock (broth) on a gas/induction hob in the middle of the dining table with foodstuffs and condiments around the pot. People can add and cook whatever they like in the broth. The secret of whether a hot pot is good or not lies in the broth, which all the meat slices and vegetables take their flavor from.
Chinese people are very fond of hot pot. In the past hot pot used to be favored only in winter, but nowadays hot pot has been appearing on tables all year round. It is a great way to socialize with friends and relatives. People gather around the pot to eat while chatting, eating, drinking, and having fun.
AMERICA
Tumblr media
Hamburger
The popularity of the hamburger and cheeseburger in the USA is indisputable. Traditional, gourmet, fast food, with bacon, sliders, with green chili, Juicy Lucy style… the list of variations and toppings is infinite. If there is one food that we had to pick, burgers have to be the most American of them all.

141. Between the roles you've played almost simultaneously, such as Ritsu in Hanbun, Aoi, Mugita in Gibomusu, and Kazuo in Oku Otoko, which one is the most difficult to play? Kazuo

144. Please tell us your recommended places to visit from "Rurouni-hon Kumamoto e". Nature is always recommended. Negative ions are good for the body. A portion of the sales were donated to support Kumamoto recovery)

By the way, do professional voice actors learn in vocational schools? I support him to become a voice actor, but I'm not sure if it's the right decision to enroll in a vocational school to become a voice actor.
148. Among all the places you've visited during your work or private trips, do you have any recommendation for us? Salar de Uyuni (note: he went to this place for X photobook)
149. When you watch a movie, do you prefer to read the original story first or straight to the movie? If I want to enjoy the movie, I'd watch the movie first. If I want to enjoy the book, I'd read the book first.
150. Can I hug you when I meet you? Maybe no
151. Do you use washing machine for drying your clothes? What will happen to your clothes after that? Wrinkled
152. What is the most important thing or person to you? People who put their faith in me
153. Are you looking forward to expand your career overseas? Rather than wanting to work in a Hollywood movie, I prefer to think more on how to make Japanese movies more visible to the world.
154. Is there anything you'd like to do in your 30s, any target or resolution? I have a few in mind, but I'll tell you when I manage to accomplish them
155. Please tell us about your vision of living your life from now on! I hope I can do more of what I want to do.

🥧 SASHIMI The food item that most of us associates Japan with is Sashimi. Sashimi is basically raw fish or seafood served with wasabi (a spicy Japanese condiment) and soy sauce. It generally comes with slices of radish on the side. The name sashimi comes from a tradition of presenting the fish itself with the meal to identify which kind of fish you are eating. Just like sushi, diners can enjoy dozens of varieties of sashimi. Some of the most common and popular varieties are maguro and other tuna varieties, salmon, mackerel, and sea bream. You can also try clams, uni, or sea urchin, and salmon roe. Sashimi is found easily in top-rated Asian restaurants or high-quality Sushi restaurants throughout the United States. -------------------- Japanese restaurant 52241 | Three Samurai Japanese Restaurant | Coralville, IA 52241 | Sashimi restaurant near me | The best sushi restaurant in Coralville, IA 52241

Where to Grab Sushi in Morrison, TN
When you get a craving for some delicious sushi, you don’t have to travel too far from Morrison, Tennessee, to satisfy your appetite. Here are some of the best sushi restaurants just a short drive away.
Saki
Saki is located on Smithville Highway in McMinnville and offers a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and attentive service. The bar serves tea, coffee, soda, and a selection of beer, but if you want to drink wine you will want to bring your own. The restaurant will provide the wine glasses. You can choose appetizers from the kitchen or from the sushi bar.
Sushi bar appetizers include octopus su, rainbow naruto, sushi pizza, sashimi, and sexy jalapeno. They also offer a good selection of soups and salads. The sushi rolls feature items like the eel avocado roll, futomaki with crab meat, spider roll, spicy tuna, and rainbow roll. You can also choose from raw and cooked special rolls and a range of traditional entrees.
Yamato
Family-owned and operated, Yamato on Hillsboro Boulevard in Manchester is a Japanese steak house serving sushi and hibachi-style grilled dishes. The restaurant is simply but nicely decorated and has a relaxed ambience. On the menu, you can choose from appetizers such as edamame, gyoza fried dumplings, shumai steamed shrimp dumplings, crab rangoon, and yaki soba stir fried noodles with beef, chicken, shrimp, or vegetables.
From the special sushi rolls, the spicy girl and Pikachu roll are particularly recommended. Sushi dinners mix a variety of rolls served with miso soup and salad, or you can select one of the popular hibachi or bento dinners. If you’re there at lunchtime, check out the lunch specials and the bento lunches.
Love Thai Sushi
A little further away on Epps Mill Road in Christiana is Love Thai Sushi, which is well worth the longer trip. The family run restaurant is laid out cafeteria-style and has pretty basic decor, but the welcome is warm and the food is superb. For starters, you can choose from dishes like baby octopus, baked mussels, seaweed salad, and takoyaki.
Maki rolls include the Hamachi with yellowtail and green onion, tekka with tuna and avocado, and spicy crab, salmon, or tuna. Nigiri and sashimi can be served with shrimp, surf clam, mackerel, salmon, white tuna, and more, while the special rolls feature spider, dragon, rainbow, beauty on the beach, dancing tuna, and the volcano roll.
Ming’s Buffet & Grill
Back in McMinnville, Ming’s Buffet & Grill on Smithville Highway is a tastefully decorated restaurant featuring stylish lighting effects over the buffet counters. While Ming’s specializes in buffet-style dining, the sushi rolls include eel, salmon, crab stick, egg, shrimp, and sweet tofu.
House special rolls include the Mexican, American dream, Rainbow, and the T.G.I.F. roll with crab meat, avocado, eel, cucumber, and eel sauce. Among the hand rolls are the California, Alaska, Boston, spicy salmon, and the Japanese bagel roll.
Considering how far Morrison is from the ocean, these locations offer some great sushi to satisfy your craving.

Motto Motto Serves All Day Japanese Dishes
Residents and office people working in Serendra and Bonifacio Global City will be happy to know that there is a new restaurant called Motto! Motto! serving their favorite Japanese dishes all day, every day. The Hungry Kat was invited to sample some of specialties being offered inside this colorful and casual dining venue, just a few days before I left for my summer studies in London, so it was a good opportunity to try their extensive menu.
Motto Motto is a new Japanese concept from the Raintree group of restaurants which include Saboten, Providore, The Coconut Club, and Chotto Matte among their repertoire. Motto Motto actually means “more more,” which really sums up their Japanese comfort food selection because their menu literally and figuratively huge! Japanese food lovers like me will definitely enjoy hanging out at this cozy spot because everything we want can be found in one location.
You can find Motto Motto at the ground floor of Serendra Piazza, just in front of Art Bar near the Market! Market! side. This was previously where Chelsea Kitchen, which is also under the Raintree group, used to be. The restaurant opens as early as 8:00am up to 11:00pm so you can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner here whatever time you want.
The colorful interiors of Motto Motto are a breath of fresh air from the busy streets of the city. The venue can accommodate up 60 diners inside and another 20 guests outside at the al fresco area. It’s a fun and casual setup where kids. families, and friends can enjoy a sumptuous meal.
When I say that their selection is extensive, I really mean it! Aside from carrying almost all types of Japanese dishes, they also have a pastry section carrying items from Tokyo Bakery.
The sushi and sashimi station is also more than ready to serve all sorts of sushi, rolls, maki, nigiri, and more.
Hosting me that afternoon was my friend Gwen Jacinto, who also takes care of marketing duties for the Raintree group, as well as Chef Kalel Chan, Corporate Chef for Raintree Restaurants.
We started with some Japanese snacks and Agemono or deep-fried dishes like the Ebiashe Age (P75) which are deep fried shrimp “socks.” The Kani Kama Fries (P150) are crunchy strips of kani or crab meat which are good to nibble on while waiting for the other dishes. You can also get some Edamame (P130) for a healthier appetizer.
The Mount Fuji Salad (P150-Sharing / P85-Solo) is also a good option, especially if you want to share it with your tablemates. Pour the dressing on the cabbage strips and mix it all together.
This is the type of appetizer I like more. The Spicy Tuna (P195) is what I usually order at Japanese restaurants with its tuna sashimi chunks topped with tempura flakes. It’s not actually that spicy so it’s just right for me.
Their beverage menu is also quite interesting. Matcha lovers will enjoy the Matcha Latte (P175) with its cute latte art.
Try some of their Specialty Motto Motto Beverages like the Strawberry Guava Yakult (P150), a unique and refreshing blend of fruits and yakult. I ordered this for myself and I loved it.
Here come the rolls! Motto Motto offers a wide range of traditional and signature sushi. Let’s start with the classic Dragon Roll (P220) which comes with unagi, cucumber, avocado, tempura flakes and unagi sauce. You can also try some of their signature rolls like the Sakura Blossom (P295) which has a delectable combination of salmon, bluefin tuna, white fish, cucumber, yellow radish and denbu.
Chef Kalel is preparing one of the bestsellers himself - the Maki Aburi Style which are torched on the spot. This is the Salmon Tempura Aburi (P395) with its crunchy prawn tempura and tender salmon combined with salmon roe, asparagus, spicy mayonnaise and unagi sauce.
Motto Motto stays true to its name because it offers almost every Japanese item you can think of. What was served to us was not even half or a fourth of the menu. A special Yakitori Platter was also featured with different sticks of chicken skin, pork, quail eggs, beef asparagus, and more.
They also have pasta and one of the interesting versions is the Wasabi Cream Carbonara. This is a creamy carbonara with hints of wasabi that you can also mix into the pasta if you prefer.
The Mixed Seafood Foil Yaki (P395) opens up to reveal a medley of seafood items like salmon, white fish, shrimp and squid all freshly steamed 'En Papillote' with garlic butter and mushrooms.
As part of their All Day Brunch selection, Motto Motto has added three new Filipino Breakfast favorites with a Japanese twist! Choose from among the Beef Tapa, Chicken Tocino and Horse Mackerel served with aonori scrambled eggs, rice and Japanese pickles. These are served all day, every day for only P295 each.
They also offer new Superstar Lunch Sets which are available daily from 11:00am to 2:30pm. The US Beef Belly Gyudon (P195) is an affordable and tasty lunch option especially for BGC people who are always on the go. These lunch sets come with miso soup, cabbage salad, and a glass of iced tea.
Another Superstar lunch set is the Mapo Tofu with Pork (P265) with its spicy ground pork. Other items to choose from include Seafood Tempura Don (P325), Spicy Dynamite Chicken Karaage (P250) and Chasu Pork on Chasu Fried Rice (P250) and many more.
Would you believe hamburg steaks are also on the menu? The Avocado and Hollandaise (P375) is a sizzling hamburger steak served with avocado and hollandaise sauce. This would really go well with some rice, or maybe go for their omurice plates.
For families with children, you must order the Okosama Special Kids Shinkansen Set (P295). This cute train is a special Motto Motto set made especially for kids. It comes with favorites like spaghetti, chicken karaage, burger patty, potato salad, rice and dessert.
Best of all, the Shinkansen Set is served with a FREE toy! The kid can choose a toy from the box so I’m sure they will be very happy. I’m actually thrilled to grab a toy as well for myself!
Of course, there are also lots of desserts. The most popular item is Chef Kalel’s souffle pancakes which are just unbelievably good! These fluffy pancakes are delicately prepared and topped with matcha butter, whipped cream, and powdered sugar then served with maple syrup. You can try the Orange Creme Brulee (P295) or the Strawberries and Cream (P295).
Thank you so much Chef Kalel and Ms. Gwen for hosting our colorful Japanese lunch. Motto Motto is a new charming venue that guests of all ages can visit and enjoy. They also have Happy Hour and serve a variety of Japanese cocktails so this should also be a great place to unwind in the evening. I’ll have to visit this again when I come back to try the other items on their huge menu.

Foods and side effects of  keto diet
“The cleaner, the better when it comes to the keto diet,” says Jadin. Focus on “whole” and “unprocessed.” Also, strive for a mix of saturated and unsaturated fats for balance. Note: Tipping the scale toward too much protein is a common pitfall many people make on the keto diet. Mind your protein intake, since too much can kick you out of ketosis, says Jadin.
Foods to Eat
Consider this just a general snapshot of what’s allowed and what isn’t (and there are differences in opinion). • Meat: beef, chicken (skin-on is okay), turkey, lamb, pork (including bacon), sausage • Tofu • Fatty fish and shellfish: salmon, trout, mackerel, shrimp, scallops • Eggs: ideal when cooked in fat • Berries: strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries (in limited quantities) • Non-starchy vegetables: leafy greens, like spinach and kale, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumber • Nuts and seeds: macadamias, walnuts, pecans, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp hearts, flaxseeds, coconut, peanuts (a legume exception) • Nut and seed butters (with no added sugar): sun butter, almond butter, peanut butter • Full-fat dairy (in limited quantities): heavy whipping dairy, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, cheese • Avocados • Fats and oils: butter, coconut oil, olive oil, hemp oil, flaxseed oil, almond oil, avocado oil, sesame oil, mayonnaise • Sugar substitutes: personal preference whether to include • Dark chocolate (limited quantities) Related Topic : http://www.ketogasmic.com
Foods to Avoid
• Grains (white and whole): cereal, pasta, rice, bread (except keto-friendly homemade or packaged low-carb bread/wrap products) • Starchy vegetables: potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn • Legumes: lentils, peas, beans, quinoa, chickpeas • Fruit: most types, because of natural sugar (bananas are especially high in sugar) • Traditional desserts: cakes, cookies, ice cream, candy • Milk and most low-fat dairy, including flavored yogurts • Added sugar, including agave and honey: especially in condiments, salad dressings, and prepackaged sauces and soups What to Drink • Water or carbonated water • Calorie-free beverages (limit artificial sweeteners) • Unsweetened nut milk: almond, cashew • Tea • Coffee • Alcohol (one or two drinks max): wine (dry, not sweet), vodka
Supplements You Can Take
Take a multivitamin. “Because you are removing grains, the majority of fruit, some vegetables, and a significant amount of dairy from your menu, a multivitamin is good insurance against any micronutrient deficiencies,” says Jadin. Depending on what your individual overall diet looks like, Jadin says you might also need to add a calcium, vitamin D, and potassium supplement.
Some supplement their keto diets with MCT oil (MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides). Jadin’s opinion: It may help boost ketosis, but it’s not necessary and some people can’t tolerate the supplement. keto budget meal plan http://www.ketogasmic.com/keto-budget-meal-plan-a-handy-guide-for-beginners

Common Side Effects of Keto Diet
You can have a completely smooth transition into ketosis, or…not. While your body is adapting to using ketones as your new fuel source, you may experience a range of uncomfortable short-term symptoms. These symptoms are referred to as “the keto flu.” Low-sodium levels are often to blame for symptoms keto flu, since the kidneys secrete more sodium when you’re in ketosis, says Volek. A few side effects:
Headache and Dizziness
Most people on the keto diet need to bump up their daily salt intake by an extra gram or two to avoid side effects like headaches, dizziness and even fainting, says Volek. To eliminate the symptoms caused by salt depletion, Volek suggests drinking broth made with a bouillon cube (which has slightly less than 1 gram of sodium), once or twice a day.
Constipation
When you eat a high-fat diet, you slow down your gastric emptying and your motility, which can set you up for constipation, says Jadin. Making sure you’re getting that extra bit of sodium, eating enough fiber-filled non-starchy vegetables and drinking plenty of fluids (since you urinate more on the keto diet) can move things along.
Heart Palpitations
When you’re lacking sodium, your kidney may wind up secreting potassium and you can end up with a mineral imbalance that leads to problems with your heart beat, explains Volek. Keto Egg Recipes http://www.ketogasmic.com/top-10-keto-egg-recipes-for-breakfast
Optimal Ketosis and Macros
Achieving optimal ketosis hinges on finding the right balance of macronutrients (or “macros” in keto-speak); these are the elements in your diet that account for the majority of your calories, a.k.a. energy—namely, fat, protein, and carbohydrates. By the way, it’s often “net grams” of carbohydrates that are counted toward your daily intake; “net” deducts the amount of fiber in a food from its carbohydrate total. To know you’re spot-on dietwise (since the macros mix that launch you into ketosis varies between individuals), you can measure ketones in your blood (with a finger prick kit) or more commonly, through your urine (cheaper, but not as accurate).
Subjectively, the way you feel can also serve as a guide to whether you’re in ketosis. Most people on ketosis are more mentally sharp and energized, and feel less hungry.
The amount you should eat is determined by many factors, such as your weight, gender, and activity levels. Online keto calculators can do the math for you.

Over the past few weeks, I have been hearing quite a lot of buzz about this “Pothichoru” by Ms. Swapna Rakesh with people claiming that her’s is the best Pothichoru available in Trivandrum… For those who are unaware, “Pothichoru” is a traditional meal parcel thats very popular in Kerala, especially Trivandrum… Its basically the keralite meal consisting of boiled rice, a spicy coconut chutney, pickles, fried fish, stir fried vegetables (thoran/mezhukkupuratty) and even an omlette in some cases, all wrapped in a slightly toasted banana leaf and then wrapped in a newspaper 🙂 This was essentially the equivalent of the brown bag school lunch that moms used to prepare for their kids to take when going to school… In the old days, not only kids but also your everyday salarymen and workers also used to carry them for their lunch… It was gone for quite a while as banana leaves got replaced by sterile lunch boxes and now it seems to have come back atleast here in Trivandrum recently and people are buying them for the nostalgia element and also, this particular way of packing the food in the banana leaf gives an aroma of the banana leaf to the food, which you can’t get anywhere else…
So, after quite a while I finally got a chance to try it and so, ordered the Pothichoru from PinStove… If you have been reading my posts, you would know that my mom is a vegetarian and since Swapna Rakesh didn’t have a vegetarian option for the Pothichoru, I searched in the app and found vegetarian Pothichoru being sold by Ms. Athira J… So, placed the order for both…
Finally, it arrived… The delivery staff of PinStove called me up in advanced and asked if he can deliver both orders together or whether I need the food which was ready, urgently… So, since I agreed on both being delivered together, the delivery was done on time as per the later of the orders…
“Illa Pothichoru Nadan Meals” by Swapna Rakesh
“Veg Pothichoru” by Athira J
So, first we’ll talk about the vegetarian Pothochoru… It came with the banana leaf parcel and a small packet to the side… On opening the packet I found that it is a portion of Pulissery, which I poured onto a bowl as shown in the pic…
Pulissery and Pickle
Kappa
Inside the Parcel
The contents of the parcel were a portion of boiled rice with a dollop of chammanthi, a dry coconut based chutney, which was flavoured with dried red chillies and roasted spices in the middle, along with quite a sizable portion of boiled Cassava, which is what we call Kappa in one corner while the other three corners were inhabited by a small dollop of pickle, a portion of red spinach stir fried with coconut, shallots and mustard (what we call thoran) and then a portion of long beans (what we call Payar) that was sauted in coconut oil (mezhukkupuratty as we call it)…
Coming to the taste, first off, I found the chammanthi to be incredibly spicy, beyond what I can ever handle, but is now the favourite chammanthi of my mom… Rest of the items were of medium spice level and I could feel the freshness of the ingredients when I tasted them… The traditional flavours which I was looking for was definitely spot on in it… However for my mom, even though she loved everything, she just has got one small complaint… Its that she said she wished the whole thing has bit more tempered with curry leaves and mustard… She felt that that particular flavour was almost missing and hence suggested that doing so would make this meal perfect… Kudos to the chef indeed…
Next up is the Pothichoru by Swapna Rakesh and first off the difference was that this came with 4 small packets along with the parcel… Turns out they were a portion each of Prawn Mango Curry, Cassava(Kappa) and a Pulissery, which again I transfered to a bowl each as shown in the pics… The fourth packet contained a Pappadom and a Chilly Kondaattom…
Prawns Mango Curry
Kappa
Pappadom with Chilly Kondattam
Pulissery
Cabbage Thoran (the yellow colored one)
Payal Mezhukkupuratty and Inji Curry to its right.
Inji curry, Fried Fish, Pickle, Kanava Thoran, Chammanthy
Chammanthi, Fried Fish, Pickle, Kanava Thoran and the Omlette
As you can see, one came with much more items than the vegetarian one… The Prawn Mango curry was a surprise, since even though made with whats known as the curry shrimps, considering how restaurants charge for prawn dishes, I rather expected to see only a fish curry being served with this considering the price… Anyways, the curry was indeed delicious with a good flavour of the raw mango with the curry shrimp… The spice level was medium and so was good for me… Then as I tasted the Cassava, I noticed something different about it compared to what I have been having… This particular one had the flavour of coconut, chillies and garlic in it and the whole thing was seasoned so beautifully that I felt that it can be eaten on its own and doesn’t really need any accompaniment… Apparently it looked like the boiled cassava was mashed with grouned mixture of coconut, chillies and garlic to form a pulpy paste and this goes incredibly well with the Prawn curry that was given… Even my dad agreed that its the best kappa-meen combo he has had… The pulissery, pappadam and the chilly kondattam were ofcourse just like any other 🙂
Now coming to whats inside the parcel, there was a portion of boiled rice (fit for two people based how we eat here) along with a portion each of Payar Mezhukkupuratty, Cabbage Thoran and Kanava (Squid/Calamari) thoran along with a dollop each of chammanthi, pickle and inji(Ginger) curry along with two pieces of fried fish and an omlette…
Once again, the taste was simple spot on as far as the traditional flavours go… Compared to the vegetarian one, the chammanthi on this one was not that spicy and was fine for me… The Omelette was soft and fluffy, the fish Neymeen Choora (Tuna Mackerel) as we call it was also cooked really well… Only complaint there is that part of the spice rub on one of the pieces tasted to have been burnt, but otherwise a great piece of fish nonetheless… The kanava thoran was also medium spiced with a great flavour profile with the flavour of coriander seed powder dominating it… The cabbage and long beans thoran seemed freshly made and seasoned nicely… When the whole thing is mixed together with some of that gravy from the prawn curry, it is literally an exposion of flavours in the mouth… So, kudos to this chef as well and I agree with the reviews… This is the best tasting pothichoru option that I have seen so far in Trivandrum…
Btw, here is one thing that we noticed regarding these two pothichoru options… They both had a good rice to curries ratio… I mean, it is no secret that unlike the southerners, we from up at the north have the habbit to eating more  curries than the rice… I guess you could say that in a meal, we eat the curries with the rice instead of eating the rice with the curries… So, it is an incredibly huge headache for us who are from Thalassery to eat when we get meals as parcel from restaurants… I mean, pretty much all the places seem to be treating sidedishes as if they are made up of gold… A single meal parcel would contain enough rice for all four of us at home with the quantity of the curries being same or less than the quantity of pickle served when you dine at the same restaurant… So, both these pothichoru options pleasantly surprised us and this is why we decided that whenever we want to buy parcel of kerala meals, we’ll go for these pothichoru options from now on… 🙂 If you haven’t tried these, please do and let me know what you think and if any of you know even better options, please do let me know as well so that I can try them… 🙂
A Day of Pothichoru Over the past few weeks, I have been hearing quite a lot of buzz about this "Pothichoru" by Ms.

💦 The food item that most of us associates Japan with is Sashimi. ----------------------------------------------- Japanese restaurant 52240 | Sumo Sushi Bar & Bar | Iowa City, Iowa 52240 | Sushi near me | The best sashimi in Iowa City, Iowa 52240
