summary

Scout tells Sniper he loves him, Sniper has something else to say.

Scout was perfect. He was sweet and loud, He would listen to me talk about all the things that never mattered, and I would listen to Him when he ranted about music and vented about the team. The way he spoke was fascinating, he bounced around in his words, sometimes never really finishing what he started until I reminded him. One of my favorite things had always been car trips with him. Going to the next battlefield, just us. Talking like nothing else existed.

Today we did the same. The cold of the night pricked my skin, and my hat sat half on my crown, half on my face. Scout and I had finally gone quiet after an hour of talking. I knew it was likely more of a pause than a stop though, so I didn’t worry myself about it being almost time to part ways. Scout’s hands ran through his own hair, a nervous habit that I had made a note of early on in their friendship. That was the day he told me he loved me, I didn’t believe it. Maybe he had meant it platonically, maybe he wasn’t talking to me, maybe I’d misheard him. There was no way in hell he felt like that about me. But the night was quiet, we were alone, and Scout’s eyes were locked on my face. He had a look that I’d seen before, a look I had dreaded to see again. The moment the words slip out of his mouth I see his expression faltering.

Scout sat up immediately, “I-I’m sorry.” he stammered. “I know that’s forward- I mean I doubt you swing like...that.” I’m still stuck staring, because in that moment I realized two things; one, I wanted to be with this man forever. Two, just not like that. It’s only as he makes eye contact again that I realize he’s been ranting. “Jesus, you gonna leave me floundering here Snipes?”

“Oh, I’m sorry-” I snap out of my trance, feeling the temperature of the cold night pale in comparison to the heat on my face. “-You just caught me off guard, love you too mate.”

“Oh..” Scout winces at the casualness of Sniper’s words, “But not like that, do you?” The guilt building in my chest feels like it’s killing him. I finally sat up, fixed my hat, and clasped my hands. “Well.. no, not exactly.”

“Not exactly?” Scout asks, a genuine question, “How can something like this be not exactly” I glanced around, trying to look anywhere but at my friend, “Well it’s difficult to explain.” “I’m willing to listen.” I felt my chest warm, this was exactly why I had found myself fond of him. Despite his brash, hyperactive appearance, he was always willing to hear me out. He gave me a chance when others just pushed me aside. “Well, I do love you, just not romantically. I’m pretty sure I’ve never felt that way..” I glance over at Scout to make sure he’s paying attention. I’m not sure why, because of course he is, but knowing his attention is on me gives me the small bit of confidence I need to continue. “..for anyone. Everyone I’ve dated starts and ends the same. It’s like infatuation for a week or two and then poof, it’s gone. Eventually, I realized I’d never felt like that before..” “Like, romantic?” Scout asks. “Yeah, yeah that.” I swallow and fiddle with my hands, “I don’t want that with you, I like this, I like how you talk to me..don’t want to lose you because I don’t feel that attraction, you know? Scout looks like he’s trying to decipher it, before finally saying “Yeah, I think I get you. You don’t like romantic relationships.” “Exactly!” I was slightly excited to hear he understood, so I quickly schooled my expression. “So, are we good?” Scout smiled and leaned onto me, “We’re good, I think I’m happy like this.”

“I’m happy like this too.”

I just defeated the dark lord and was like oh is that the end of the game that was so underwhelminNO the dark lord was actually just a normal guy being possessed by an evil spirit so now i gotta go track down the spirit to kill it and basically do the entire game all over again and i cried out in despair anguish but the pain eventually subsided once i realised Oh… that means i get more content of my miis… and see them more, so…

It’s ridiculous how boring and prolonged this game is but if it means for cute interactions betweeen my really amazing and cool miis then im all for it, i guess

hi welcome to my last attempt at ever making stuff on this shitshow of a genshin au here are some groundrules before we start

CHAPTER PROLOGUE: THE WORLD IS FUCKED!

So, once upon a time, the universe existed. Hear me out here, okay? It. It exists.

There are worlds that are created from pre-existing worlds. Some people call them Simulated Worlds, Bubble Worlds, etc. It honestly just. Doesn't matter what you call them. Just know that these worlds are created as soon as someone creates them.

The initial creator of that world creates the "seed"--this seed has blueprints on the initial version of the world. Major characters, events, locations, et cedera.

From there, the seed grows overtime as it's introduced into the rules of reality. As the seed "sprouts", it grows into a beautiful tree, branching out to create differing worlds. The farther up the tree? The farther away from the original seed it becomes. And when it becomes different enough, that world disconnects from that tree and becomes it's own world seperated from this system.

Each world has two things it's born with. Some have dubbed this a God Program and the World System.

A God Program is basically what it sounds like. Each world needs to have a protector, a parental-like figure to watch over it. They're not allowed to intervene unless the World System allows it to.

Then there's the World System. The World System is like the child, growing and ever-changing, adapting and living it's own life under the protection of the God Program. However, it is vulnerable, and needs to be protected at all costs.

The two work together in tandem to keep the flow of that world safe. Everything there is left to develop on it's own.

Except, there's just... one thing that exists. Something that can disrupt that harmony.

It's said long ago, not long after the universe was created, a tragedy struck, and corruption spread across the world. A struggle for complete control over order and chaos. Thus was born a Seed of MAlice--a SOMA.

When a SOMA comes into contact with a God Program, it will corrupt it. There are only ever two outcomes: the God Program will seek to destroy the world entirely, or will attempt to "recreate" it into the perfect blueprint of the original "Seed" the world stemmed from

This phenomena was the same phenomena that struck one of the Genshin Worlds. The World of Stars and Asters.

playing a notes game for motivation. to write my Nezha older brother to MK AU for Chinese/Lunar New Year. :D

Context; I celebrate Chinese/Lunar New Year. I want to write/kick crying out into the world my Nezha older brother to MK AU on AO3 for the occasion, which is as said. It's an AU in which Tang and Pigsy pray to the protector deity of children, after finding a random child left on the doorstep. Nezha hears the prayer and, throughout the years, finds he cannot leave MK alone and accidentally becomes something of an older brother figure.

This was previously named Accidental Brother-Sorry Babysitter-Acquisition, which when I came to my senses has now been deleted and changed to...idk actually but I can have fun with it--

There had to be a better saying than "always the bridesmaid never the bride". Jake was sick to the back teeth of hearing it.

When it came to Soulmates and Soulmarks, Jake's had to be the worst. He was constantly in the line of danger and the desire to find his soulmate - to finally be with his soulmate - led Jake to being all the more reckless than usual. All thanks to his Soulmark.

Running into burning buildings, avoiding stay bullets to help civilians escape safely... it usually only got him an earful off Clay for being so reckless. Jake had played it off but after the third or fourth time, Pooch had bestowed the title of Death Defying onto him.

On the last mission, it was Cougar who had managed to snag his Soulmate and while Jake was happy for his friend, he couldn't help but feel a little disheartened. The last Loser without a Soulmate.

"Always the bridesmaid, never the bride, huh Jensen?" Aisha had given him a soft look, a rarity, and patted his shoulder. "You'll get yours next time."

Flicking through the issues of comics, Jake sighed. Saving people was a big bonus in the search of his soulmate but he felt like a child having a tantrum. Why couldn't he have his Soulmate? It wasn't fair. Had he done something to piss off some god-like being in a past life?

Superman had Louis. Batman had Catwoman. Spider-man had Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy, sometimes even Felicia Hardy. They all had someone to come home to, even if they were fictional. So, what was the Death Defying Jake Jensen doing wrong?

With his comics in tow, he heads to the cash desk to pay up looking out of the window to the store. It's a nice enough day, sunshine bright but not searing, but there are too many couples out for Jake to enjoy the sun. He didn't need the reminder that he was still alone.

He steps out into the street looking at the pavement wondering if he'd be one of those Soulmates that doesn't find there other half until they're old and grey. He shudders at the thought, quickly looking out into the road before stepping off the edge of the pavement.

Which would have been fine if he was paying attention.

A car horn blares loudly. Like a deer in headlights, he turns to the sound but doesn't move; thoughts startled out of his brain.

"Are you trying to die?!" The driver screams, laying on her horn as Jake stands there dumbly in the middle of the road. Jake's heart beats at a breakneck speed, noticing she looks more concerned than angry. However, he feels tingly all over and lightheaded at her words... he thinks he may just pass out. Was this...?

Another few beeps of her horn snap him out of his thoughts.

"I - um -" He blinks, still stunned. She was beautiful. Was she really his soulmate? "No, actually I'm not."

She stares at him through her windshield, mouth slightly agape; clearly experiencing that warm, happy feeling he'd felt spread through her body. She leans over and opens the passenger door as the car behind her honks angrily.

"Get in!" She calls to him, smiling now.

Jake rushes around the car and jumps in, fumbling with his seat belt as she drives away. The both of them keep stealing blushing glances at eachother, laughing breathlessly with a mixture of shock and nerves. What are the chances you almost get killed by your Soulmate?

"Hi." Jake finally bumbles out, placing his comic bag between his feet.

"Hi." She giggles back before telling him her name. He swallows thickly and nods, still in disbelief.

"Jake." He manages out, offering her his hand, which she shakes briefly before holding onto the steering wheel again. "Where are we going? You seem to have kidnapped me."

"Hardly kidnapping if you get in the car of your own free will." She snickers, face reddening.

"Just because I was lured in by a pretty face instead of candy doesn't mean it isn't kidnapping." He counters, heart fluttering as he sees her sputter a laugh.

"Maybe I panicked okay?" She snorts. "I almost killed you because you stepped out in front of me!"

"So you thought kidnapping me would make it better?"

She loses it at that; her laughter filling the car, with its happy lilt that makes Jake's body sing in response. He'd waited so long for this feeling of elation and it was worth every pained moment to be near her and hear her be so happy too.

"If you're not in a rush," she says, smiling wide. "We could get drive through?"

"You don't know how amazing that sounds right now."

Maybe waiting wasn't all that bad, if you're almost killed and then kidnapped by your gorgeous Soulmate for a drive through...

I'm relapsing on my ARK addiction, I haven't played it for 5 years, but I'm back to playing it again.

Anyway I wanted to make a list of my favorite creatures

THE SNOW OWL - I love this thing sm. I already loved griffins, but combine their dive ability with a heal mechanic and give it the appearance of my favorite bird? Can't ask for more.

Otter - the absolute best shoulder pet (Jerboa gets an honorable mention for warning you when storms are coming) they look adorable and give you heat and cold insulation.

Gigantoraptor - huge, fluffy speed demons that are also the BEST mothers of any creature. These big birds were an amazing addition (they're also my favorite dino irl, not just ark).

Wyvern - I know it's so typical to have them as the best, but its just an objective fact that they are fucking sick and useful.

Yutyrannus - FLUFFY CARNIVAROUS DINO HELL YEAH, and yeah, their roar buff is great too, ig.

Thylacoleo - My first big achievement when taming. These guys can be annoying to deal with (lost my first pterodon to them), but they are SO WORTH GETTING.

Velonasaur - I mean, it's a raptor-esque creature that can create and shoot their own bullets. How could I not love it? It might not be the most useful, but its design is great.

Parasaur - I know these guys are only really useful in early game, but I have a soft spot for them. They're the first useful tame you'll probably get and this dino was the first I got truly attached to (RIP Alice, she died defending me).

Managarmr - One of the most versatile creatures, it can travel extremely fast and can run, fly, and swim well. Not many creatures can do all that.

Deinosuchus - Oh my god, I am in love with this absolute juggernaut of a gator. They may be slower than the sarcosuchus, but they have one hell of a devastating bite.
