This witch is a problem.
Tumblr media
"Diabellze of the Original Sin" is generally a contested pick in the meta in general because of belonging to the new lore archetype, thus expected to be supported. And I've heard lots thrown at her already, but... I believe this is the worst Card for the Melodious to face, and feels like a mean gut punch especially after Melodious got its new support IN THE SAME SET.
Since I specialize in them, I would like to go over just how bad this is for them.
First off, how would the Melodious plays be disrupted when facing this Card ALONE. (Emphasis on alone)
Ostinato, 1st Movement Solo and Melodious Concerto, power players in Melodious Combos, have to be set first. Considering Diabellze can decide, once per turn, to destroy that set Card, that potentially leaves them in the dust.
Refrain and Couplet cannot be set from the Hand to the Pendulum Zone. However, they can set themselves from the Extra Deck if a Melodious is Fusion Summoned. Now, for Refrain, this isn't so bad. Her on-field effect is more important early on than her Pendulum Effect. FOR COUPLET, IT'S A BIG PROBLEM. She is mostly set early on as a Scale to grab Melodious Concerto, and she just can't do that under Diabellze's anti-spell effect. Not only that, but it's a pain in the neck to get her to the Pendulum Zone via her effect in the first place, because she has to get in the Field as a Monster, which is the worst place for her to be and really clunky considering she's a level 5. With Ostinato (Assuming it doesn't get destroyed beforehand) it's not impossible, but Refrain alone cannot add Couplet to hand unless there's another level 4 or lower Melodious, even still, you have to opt for the vulnerable Harmonist line. If she gets disrupted... Tough luck, welcome to Melodious pre-2023.
Doesn't look like many problems thus far, but they're pretty big ones considering the plays become much more vulnerable without access to early Couplet and Concerto. Also, she's a Monster that can be removed or at least disrupted. Yet for Melodious, it's a bigger issue to remove her than with most archetypes. This due to a few reasons:
A lack of in-archetype removal outside of Etoile. With the Spells so easily disrupted, all that remains for her Summoning is Soprano. At least there's her. But it'll require a Maestra on the Field. Again, hindered by the witch, because all 4 playmakers that are the new support are affected in some way.
Imperm and EVENLY not working. The Normal traps which can be activated from the hand to disrupt are not an option when it comes to her. Because of the archetype's xenolocks other types of Monster disruptions aren't as common, so Impermanence works as a staple just fine. Not anymore, with this worse Anti-Spell.
The Forbidden Quick-plays not working. Not as common as Impermanence, but searchable off of a Fairy in Condemned Witch, and Droplet is used because of its costly, yet extremely good disruption. You gotta wait a turn now.
Dark Ruler no More being disruptible. Seriously, how does a face-up Card counter the counter to face-up Cards?
Outside from the first problem, the other three are generic issues she presents. However, because of an infamous aspect of Melodious, there are some more answers which are more problematic for them to resolve than most other archetypes.
Kaijus. Usually, a Kaiju would be a fine and dandy way to say "see ya!" to a troublesome Monster. However, for Melodious, it presents some problems... Of the xenolock variety. 1st Movement Solo and Harmonist are integral to Melodious and... If you so much as activate them, you are only allowed to Special Summon Melodious for the turn. And by that, I don't mean that it's worded like "you cannot Special Summon Monsters, except "Melodious" Monsters, for the rest of this turn", rather like "you cannot Special Summon Monsters, except "Melodious" Monsters the turn you activate this card/effect". So that means if you use Harmonist or 1st Movement, you cannot Kaiju AT ALL, and if you Kaiju someone first, you cannot use these two playmakers AT ALL for the turn. That's why they're clunky to use in Melodious, because they make the boards way less consistent.
Triple Tactics Talent's "take control" effect. That's another used way to take control of a troublesome Monster and effectively remove it. However, you won't keep it for the turn. So not only do you have to set even THAT first, you also cannot easily link Diabellze away because, again, the xenolocks. Also the Melodious Fusions can't use her as Material, as they can only use Melodious Monsters. The only way to dispose of her without interfering with Harmonist and 1st Movement is... Tribute Summoning Couplet or Elegy over her.
Nibiru. Already a fairly contentious pick for Melodious, as if you use Nibiru yourself then you have it on your side of the board, and need to use specific Cards if you want to free up your Field for Ostinato or 1st Movement (Donner and Azalea are good for this in Melodious). Even still, you have to deal with the same xenolock problems.
So... There it is. This card alone I believe will cause so many problems. And the worst part is, she's searchable, Special Summonable from the Deck and... She's a card in the current lore that Yu-Gi-Oh is so keen on promoting. She's going to get more support down the line.
Konami, don't make me say that, despite having received support in the same set, Melodious is STILL cursed. I know it's a crazy thought to have, but I can't help it with this.

*ahem* No one asked but I'm going to talk about my favorite archetype to play anyway:
Aromas!
Its not competitive in any way, really, (too reliant on continuous spells/traps for the current meta) but it sure is fun (and that's all I care about, haha), and for a 5D's-era archetype, it's actually really pretty decent. When you see that the highest rarity is only 6*, you might be tempted to think otherwise, but with the phenomenal monster effects, they had to be nerfed somehow.
The basic premise: Gaining Life Points utterly destroys your opponent's field, hand, and graveyard.
Extra Deck:
Aromaseraphy Sweet Marjoram - 6* Synchro - 2200 ATK, 2000 DEF - When summoned, you can add one of three archetype continuous traps to your hand. Once per turn when you gain LP, you can destroy a card on your opponent's field. Any card you want. (Idk if this effect stacks as I only have one copy in Master Duel because she's UR. I really should craft another one if for no other reason than to find out, but I have not yet.)
Aromaseraphy Rosemary - 5* Synchro - 2000 ATK, 900 DEF - When you gain LP, you get to nullify the effect of one card on your opponent's field, monster or spell or trap, they are all up for grabs. When your LPs are higher than your opponent's, all Plant-type monsters on your field gain 500 ATK and DEF. And both of these effects stack. Which means you can potentially nullify the effects of three cards and grant all of your monsters 1500 ATK. Which is sick, by the way. I have done this.
Aromaseraphy Jasmine - Rank 2 Link - 1800 ATK - Can you say "card advantage"? When you gain LP, you can add one Plant-type monster from your deck to your hand. Also, when your LP are higher than your opponent's, this monster and any it points to cannot be destroyed by battle. You can also tribute one monster she points to to special summon a monster from your deck in DEF mode. (This is a great defense strat if you choose to run Chirubime but more on that later.) (Obviously if you're writing a 5Ds-era duel then you can't run her, but she is quite nice.)
Main Deck Monsters:
Aromage Bergamot - 6* Effect - 2400 ATK, 1800 DEF - This bad boy is 100% worth the single tribute. Once per turn when you gain LP, he gains 1000 ATK and DEF. If just being a beat-stick isn't good enough, ALL Plant-type monsters deal piercing damage when your LPs are higher than your opponent's. Goodbye, defense.
Aromage Marjoram - 5* Effect - 2000 ATK, 1600 DEF - You can special summon her from your hand if a Plant-type monster on your field is destroyed. If you do this, you can gain 500LP, and whenever you gain LP, you get to banish cards from your opponent's GY, one for every Aroma monster face up on your field. Goodbye, graveyard.
Aromage Rosemary - 4* Effect - 1800 ATK, 700 DEF - Admittedly I do use her for synchro fodder more than anything simply because in the easy duels I'm usually in with this deck, her first effect tends to hurt more than help which is that when you gain LP you have to switch the position of one monster on the field. Key words being have to. You don't get a choice so if you're not careful you end up having to switch your own. Her other effect, however, of your opponent not being allowed to use monster effects during battle, is slightly cooler and more helpful (especially depending on what type of deck you're battling against; once again, I'm usually in easy solo mode duels).
Aromage Cananga - 3* Effect - 1400 ATK, 1000 DEF - When your LP are higher than your opponent's, all of your opponent's monsters lose 500 ATK and DEF. You also get to bounce a spell/trap back to their hand when your gain LP. And, yes, these effects DO stack. So if you've got three on your field, all of your opponent's monsters lose 1500 ATK and DEF. (I've never had more than two on the field once, but still. The possibility is there, lol.) Goodbye, ATK points.
Aromage Jasmine - 2* Effect - 100 ATK, 1900 DEF - Can you say "card advantage" again? Once per turn when you gain LP you get to draw a card. If that wasn't enough, you can also summon an additional plant monster during your turn (when your LPs are higher than your opponent's). When combined with some other card effects, she makes it very easy to synchro summon 5*s very quickly. (I looped out all three 5* synchros in one turn once with her. That was sick.)
Aroma Jar - 1* Effect - 500 ATK, 400 DEF - This little guy is a great defender because when flip summoned he can't be destroyed by battle. (Doesn't....doesn't work in anime duels unfortunately then but hey.) During the End Phase of each turn, you gain 500 LPs. So he becomes a very handy way to quickly gain the LP advantage as well as proc'ing other effects during your opponent's End Phase.
Aromage Laurel - 1* Effect - 800 ATK, 0 DEF - Oh, this handy lil dude. When your LPs are higher than your opponent's, you can special summon him from your hand. If you gain LP, you can select another Plant-type monster on your field (including him) to treat as a Tuner until the End Phase. When he leaves the field for any reason, you can gain 500 LP. Tiny but mighty.
Aromaseraphy Angelica - 1* Tuner - 0 ATK, 0 DEF - Aside from being the only archetype tuner, she's got some neat effects. You can send her to the GY, select another Aroma monster already there, and gain LP equal to the selected monster's ATK points. While in the GY, if your LPs are higher than your opponent's and you have another Aroma monster on your field, you can special summon her (though you have to banish her when she leaves the field; had to nerf her somehow, haha).
Spells and Traps:
Aroma Garden - Field Spell - As long as you have at least one Aroma monster face up on your field, you can gain 500 LPs and ALL monsters on your field gain 500 ATK and DEF. If an Aroma monster is destroyed by battle, you gain 1000 LP.
Aroma Gardening - Continuous Spell - Once per turn when you summon an Aroma monster, you can gain 1000 LP. Also, if your LPs are lower than your opponent's and they declare battle, you can special summon an Aroma monster from your deck (and then gain that 1000 LP for summoning it). Summon Bergamot and that about stops any attack, lol.
Dried Winds - Continuous Trap - Once per turn when you gain LP you can destroy one face-up monster on your opponent's field. (This is really the only effect I use, but there is a second one that allows you to pay LP to destroy your opponent's monsters. You can only use this when you have 3000+ more LP than they do, and you have to pay whatever the difference is. So if you have 5000 more then you pay 5000 to destroy up to a certain number of monsters but no matter how many you choose to destroy, the cost is the same.)
Humid Winds - Continuous Trap - Effect one: you can pay 1000 LP to add on Aroma monster from your deck to your hand. Effect two: if your LPs are lower than your opponent's, you can gain 500 LP. You can use both in the same turn. This combo has occasionally been a life-saver, haha.
Blessed Winds - Continuous Trap - Three effects on this one, but you can only use one effect once per turn. One: you can send one Plant-type monster from your hand or field to the graveyard to gain 500 LP. Two: you can shuffle one Plant-type monster from your GY back into your deck to gain 500 LP. Three: you can pay 1000 LP to special summon an Aroma monster from your GY. The third one gives you an infinite synchro-summoning loop. Or an infinite healing loop, depending on your immediate needs. (Both made possible when used with one non-archetype card listed below).
[Insert other spells/traps here] What else you run is entirely up to you. I typically run Monster Reborn, Raigeki, and Skill Successor, but I have run other things like Call of the Haunted and Trap Hole with Spikes. (And I'm honestly wondering if I really even need Raigeki but then I have to find something else to add because it's only a 40-card deck as is, lol.)
Non-Archetype Winners:
Rose Girl - 3* Tuner - 800 ATK, 600 DEF - I would not dream of running this deck without her. When she's in your GY and you have a Plant-type monster on your field, you can add her back to your hand. Not to mention having a tuner that's not a 1* makes synchro summoning much easier. Her effect combined with Blessed Winds creates "endless" loops for either gaining LPs or synchro summoning. Additionally, if a Plant-type monster leaves your field, you can special summon her. She's a must for this deck. (Even if she is nerfed with a hard once per turn.)
Queen of Thorns - 6* Synchro - 2200 ATK, 1800 DEF - This lovely girl makes it almost impossible for your opponent to normal or special summon monsters. Both players have to pay 1000 LP to summon monsters unless they are Plant-type. Which, ya know, isn't a problem for this deck since the only monster in it that isn't Plant-type is Aroma Jar (lil dude is a Rock-type).
Chirubime, Princess of Autumn Leaves - 8* Effect - 1800 ATK, 2800 DEF - While I'm not currently running her, she is a good defensive tactic with L2 Aromaseraphy Jasmine due to her high DEF and her effect which makes her the only Plant-type monster your opponent can target for attacks. Additionally if she is sent to the GY by your opponent (by battle or card effect), you can special summon another Plant-type monster from your deck.
Botanical Lion, Botanical Girl, and Violet Witch - I'm lumping these together because I don't currently run them either but they do work well within the deck. BL gains 300 ATK for every Plant-type monster on your field which comes in handy sometimes, and the other two allow you to search out cards when they are destroyed. They are also useful as syrchro material, obviously.
If you actually read all of that, I am both impressed and kissing you gently on the forehead in appreciation, lol.
But yeah, I love this deck. You get a few key cards in your opening hand, and it's over before it even really starts.

Alright! For the seventh instalment of #archetypes abundant, I have for you today: Winged Beasts! And I finally get to gush about spirit monsters, some of my favorite card types with SHINOBIRDS! these avian ninjas have their roots in Shinto beliefs, like most spirit monsters, with a gameplan revolving around clearing your opponent of resources before you have to deal with the drawbacks of these birds' temporary nature and the inherit downsides of their bosses being ritual monsters.
Spirit monsters have a very unique mechanic where they cannot be special summoned and return to your hand at the end of the turn. This means you usually only get one monster, and your board will be clear on your opponents turn, leaving you vulnerable.
In addition, the archetype's two boss monsters, shinobaron peacock and shinobaroness peacock, are both ritual monsters. Long considered the worst special summon type, ritual monsters need a ritual spell, the ritual monster itself, and at least one tribute all in the hand or on the field, making you lose more cards than something like XYZ or synchro, and requires you to draw the card you're hoping to summon rather than it always being available in the extra deck
So how do shinobirds get around these rather extreme detriments? Card advantage and powerful effects. The deck has a key spell in shinobird power spot, making it so that any time your monsters return to your hand you get to search your deck for any of their monsters or their ritual spell, setting you up for the next turn. Speaking of those boss monsters, they both have effects meant to close out the game before they're forced back into your hand. Each one returns a whopping 3 CARDS from your foes field back into their hand. If those cards were slow to activate traps or monsters that took extensive resources to bring out, you've gained a mighty advantage! In addition, each allows you to break the rules a bit, their mighty presence allowing you to special summon a spirit monster, bypassing their effects that return them to your hand. Of course, all good things must come to an end, and even the peacocks must return to your hand in the end phase. But they don't leave you stranded. Each one leaves behind some tokens to defend you and act as tributes to bring the barons back next turn!
This deck really is special, and I wish it had more support than the few cards they currently have. It really feels like a delicate dance, managing your resources while waiting for the perfect time to strike, fast and efficient. Plus, a lot of the cards specify spirit monsters rather than specifically shinobirds, so there's a lot of cool synergy you can take advantage of! All to say these avian spirits are real showstoppers!
Finally done with the three beast types. Next time is fiends, and my favorite archetype of all time, plunder patrolls!!

I’m gonna post my infodump here because I figured maybe someone would find it interesting. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the Cambrian Explosion YuGiOh card post, specifically the card that someone made about it. I decided to remake it, and I’ll tell you why.

Left: Original card. [ID: Cambrian Catastrophe / Summon up to 5 different ‘Cambrian’ type monsters in defense mode]
Right: My errata. [ID: Cambrian Catastrophe / Once per turn: Special summon up to 5 level 4 or below “Cambrian” monsters with different names from the Main Deck in face up defense position. Monsters special summoned by the effect of “Cambrian Catastrophe” cannot be used to XYZ summon.]
heres what i had to say: If this (the left orginal card) were a real card it would have to be structured and worded entirely differently because todays yugioh errata and just the game in general is so heavily focused on semantics that if they didnt errata this card it most certainly would be banned instantly.
to start, the first thing i noticed is that it just says summon. if it were to be a legit card you would HAVE to say “special summon,” otherwise it would be up to the player’s interpretation what kind of way each monster was summoned. lets say in this fake archtype theres an incredibly op Cambrian that could be flip summoned, and lets say that when this monster is flip summoned it destroys all monsters on the field and inflicts 500 lp of damage for every monster destroyed in a “just deserts” style effect. because the card didn’t specify on what kind of summon was or can be used when the spell is activated, that means the player of this card can easily say that they flip summoned that op Cambrian flip effect monster; but the more likely possibility is that the player can say all 5 monsters were normal summoned, and since a lot of effect cards in specific archtypes work on when cards are normal summoned, immediately thatd be activating 5 effects. so yeah, the first thing that would need to change is definitely that this card needs to specify that each cambrian monster is being special summoned.
the other reason this card would need instant nerfing is because, again, due to the lack of specifics, the card simply saying “summon” and not elaborating what kind of summon or where youd be summoning from, the player would be able to summon from wherever they want (graveyard, banished cards, hand, extra deck, etc.) and however they want. in the absolute worst case scenario, they could summon 5 cambrian monsters from the extra deck, which is a huge problem. the player would be able to summon 5 fucking syncro xyz fusion link etc whatever monsters of their choosing and i know this archtype is made up but as a rule of thumb most of the time extra deck monsters are the endgoal; having high attack and defense and incredible effects that can make or break a game, and which usually signal that the purpose of the deck is meeting its endgame— so five of them would just be disgusting.
as a quick intermission, i want to note that while i was discussing this, a friend of mine mentioned that the main problem with this card is that theres no consequence or payoff, and that a simple fix would be establishing that for each monster summoned, lp, or another monster would have to be tributed. while a good idea in theory, this, unfortunately, doesnt fix any of the problems with the cards. like ive said, the issue is always the semantics:
lets say we did go with the idea of tributing 1 monster from the field per card summoned with cambrian catastrophe as a means to give the card some consequence. if someone has tokens on the field that’s no consequence whatsoever ultimately. if cambrian catastrophe was errated to have the sacrifice 1 monster per card summoned that can easily be resolved using scapegoat, or even just kuriboh & multiply, and the same goes for lp; there are dozens upon dozens of cards that boost lp, and even more combos that grant thousands of lp at a time. in the end, there being no tribute isnt the problem.
so, to recap: if this card were to be erratad, the first things that would have to change would be it going from “summon” to “special summon,” because, like i said, if a cambrian monster has an effect that activates under certain summoning conditions then the player would be able to activate them all at once because the summoning condition is up to interpretation as the players so choose. the second thing that would have to change is where the monsters are being summoned from, and the most likely option is the main deck or hand, because extra deck/gy/banishment pile could prove to be a problem (unless we’re okay with this deck being insane meta.)
the next thing that would have to be specified is the level of the monsters summoned, because if this fake archctype has insane level 8-10 cards then girl now there are 5 of them on field. this card gave me the impression that its a card played for defense similar to how scapegoat is, so i imagine the monsters summoned would be level 4 and below because thats usually the like rule of thumb for when cards are mass summoned by 1 effect.
next up, this card only says that the monsters summoned by this effect are in defense position. it doesn’t specify face up or face down and henceforth that would be up to player interpretation as well, which would also be a problem if any of the cards summoned are flip monsters, or monsters that effects activate when theyre in a face down position, similar to “kiseitai.” so, again, depending on how we’re perceiving this fake archtype, we would also have to specify that theyre likely in face up defense position.
as a second intermission, and just because semantics do get crazy with the yugioh ocg: the card says 5 different cambrian monsters, and i know what they mean by different is varied monsters, but someone can easily interpret this as individual monsters— meaning they can summon 5 of the same 2 types of monster. (for anyone who doesnt get this particular bit, you can only have up to 3 of 1 non banned card in your deck, so yeah, 2 types of monster.) so i want to establish that what konami does when they mean ‘different as in varied’ rather than ‘different as in individual’ is that they say “monsters with different names.”
it was at this point i realized two things: 1) that depending on how we’re perceiving this fake archtype, we might want to specify if the cards summoned this way can be used as material for tribute summoning or summoning cards from the extra deck, because summoning 5 lv 4 monsters is also an easy way to just fuckin xyz an op freak onto the field, and 2) that this is a quick play card, meaning it can be activated from the hand during either player’s turn. this means my hunch about it being a defensive spell was totally right and an important footnote.
from that point on I ultimately decided that the best bet would be that monsters summoned by this effect cant be used to xyz summon, because if 5 level 4 monsters are summoned, unless your opponent has 5 attack position monsters, being able to xyz summon is guaranteed no matter how many monsters are destroyed— which is just too op— while synchro summoning is fair game if you can get the right levels on the field without them being killed due to this being a defensive quick effect
maybe the biggest and most important change though: there needs to be a hard once per turn on this card or else we’re all fucked. thats a hard being able to summon 15 monsters per turn otherwise and even though people with maxx c would have a blast it still wouldnt look too good for anyone in terms of what the player may plan on doing with the monster.
So yeah that’s about it! let me know what you guys think

Yu-Gi-Oh! 2021 Rules Update
Have you guys heard? The OCG rules have been updated to the TCG a few days back.
The following rule updates & clarifications (some of which have already been in effect) are in effect at in-person and remote duel events at all levels. These will be incorporated into an upcoming rulebook update.
Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Monsters can be first Summoned from the Extra Deck to any of your Main Monster Zones. They do not have to be Summoned to the Extra Monster Zone or a spot that a Link Monster is pointing to. You can still Summon a Fusion/Synchro/Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck to your Extra Monster Zone if you want to, though. (The restrictions requiring an Extra Monster Zone or Link Monster pointing still apply to Link Monsters and Pendulum Monsters that are Summoned from the Extra Deck.)
If a monster’s Trigger Effect meets its activation conditions, BUT hasn’t yet had a chance to actually activate yet (because it’s still in the middle of a chain or card effect, for example) and is therefore being “saved for later”, BUT its location* changes between the time its Trigger Effect activation is met, and the time it actually has a chance to activate, its effect does not activate. [*On the field, in the Graveyard, in the hand, banished, or in the Deck.]
The restriction of “you cannot Normal or Special Summon the turn you activate this card” only refers to monsters that were successfully summoned. Same for “you can only Special Summon X once per turn” restrictions.
Trap Monsters that say “This card is also still a Trap.” do not occupy both a Monster Zone and a Spell & Trap Zone. They are only in the Monster Zone (where the card actually is) and do not take up a Spell & Trap Zone.
Page 51 of the rulebook, under “Leaves the Field”: “When a monster on the field is shuffled into the Main Deck, or becomes an Xyz Material, it is no longer a card on the field, however its effects that activate when it “leaves the field” will not activate.” “Main Deck” should be “Deck” (and therefore also includes the Extra Deck).

Theory Time? It's more likely than you think
So this little boyo just had his details revealed
Tumblr media
VJMP-JP201 Astral Kuriboh Fiend/Effect, LIGHT, Level 1, ATK/DEF 100 You can only use the 1st effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) You can reveal 1 “Number” Xyz Monster in your Extra Deck; Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, its Level becomes equal to the revealed monster’s Rank, but you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck while you control this face-up monster Summoned this way, except “Number” Xyz Monsters. (2) A “Number” monster Xyz Summoned using this card on the field as material gains this effect. ● Cannot be destroyed by battle or your opponent’s card effects.
Kinda interesting that *Astral* Kuriboh is a heckin' *Fiend* monster and not like... Fairy?
For anyone not aware, in Japanese, Fiend monsters are known as "Demon" while Fairy monsters are "Angel", so the implication here is that this little Astral Kuriboh is a Light Demon?
And before you might say that "Kuriboh has always been a Fiend monster" mmm... I'd like to point out that not all of them have always been Fiend type.
Clear Kuriboh (Fairy), Junkuriboh (Machine), Linguriboh (Cyberse), Linkuriboh (Cyberse) (yes, there are two of them. no, I didn't misspell them), Winged Kuriboh (Fairy), Kuribon (Fairy), and Kurivolt (Thunder) have all shared a different type than the OG Kuriboh.
What's really interesting to note though, is that there are three other Kuribohs who share the same type and attribute as Astral Kuriboh:
Kuribohrn
Tumblr media
Rainbow Kuriboh
Tumblr media
and Kuriphoton
Tumblr media
Photon and Rainbow both made their débuts in Zexal, but Bohrn was released back in 2016, way after Zexal had ended in Japan.
Sooo... what can this tell us? Well, one of two things really:
Either a) being "Astral" does not override a Kuriboh's inherent demonic nature/origin
or b) the "Astral" property is more inherently demonic than it is Angelic

22PP-JP013 Numbers Evaille
Normal Spell Card
(1) If only your opponent controls a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: Choose 4 “Number” Xyz Monsters with different Ranks in your Extra Deck, add the numbers in all their names together, and Special Summon 1 “Number” Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck with a number in its name equal to the result, and if you do, attach all the chosen monsters to it as material, but you cannot Special Summon monsters while you control it, except “Number” Xyz Monsters. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon.)
I Love this card, it has math and it took me 3 reads to decipher what it was trying to say

How Cross Duels Work
(this is copied from a Reddit comment I wrote so sorry if it's weird lol)
So Main Phase, you can normal summon as many monsters as you want and can be normal summoned in attack or defense position. You can also set Traps but not spells. Traps activate automatically when their conditions are met. The player gets no say in when they activate.
There are 3 columns you can summon monsters and set traps in. Two columns are connected to the lanes that lead to the left and right opponents while the center column connects to the lane that leads to the center and eventually the opponent opposite you. The center contains a special card that at the beginning of the duel can be collected by the first player to reach it. Although in my experience it has only been monster reborn.
You get 30 seconds for Main Phase before you're put directly into Battle Phase. Battle Phase is the only time you can activate Spell Cards. Again, they cannot be set. After 15 seconds or whenever everyone skips on activating anymore spell cards, movement begins. Monsters in attack position move forward in whatever lane they are in. When a monster encounters an opponent monster in it's same lane, battle ensues. The monster with the lower attack/defense (depending on its position) is destroyed and the winning monster then loses attack or defense equal to whatever the destroyed card had. There is no battle damage. Damage can only be inflicted by direct attacks or by effect damage. Monsters can attack directly if they reach the end of the lane where the opponent is and they have no monster in that space. When you inflict damage from a direct attack, you recover LP equal to the damage (max 8000).
Once all movement is over, the turn ends.
The game ends when a player's LP is 0 or after 8 turns. All player's conduct their turns simultaneously.
If a player's LP drops to 0, the game doesn't end until the end of the turn. The player with the most LP at the end of the game wins.
All monsters begin as vanilla, but you can use resources you win from playing the game to gain skills from their skill tree. Monsters become effect monsters when equipped with a skill and some even get their borders and changed summoning methods with a skill. I believe every card can only have 1 skill equipped at a time EXCEPT for the ace monster. An ace monster is a monster that you always begin the duel with in your hand. Ace monsters still have to unlock their extra skill slots though by spending additional copies of a card.
Cards are obtained by opening packs using gems. Every pack has 1 monster, 1 spell, and 1 trap. Unlike Duel Links, they don't come in boxes that allow you to pull until you get the card you were hoping to get.
Every deck consists of only 20 cards and 1 copy max each of any card. Equipped skills are specific to a deck so you can build multiple decks with the same cards and run different skills on them in each deck.
I think that's everything. It's A LOT. It's completely different from normal dueling.

S-Force Analysis/Deck Profile
As the new S-Force (Security Force) Archetype will be released in the new Booster: Blazing Vortex, I've decided to make an analysis on the archetype, my thoughts on each card, and leaving a deck-list for casual play 😎
Archetype Explained
S-Force another column based archetype where your S-Force monsters nerfs your opponent's monster(s) that's in the same column; they also banish one another to dish out more support for themselves, for an example:
Banishes one S-Force Monster from your hand to special summon another from your deck.
It also has another effect: "Each of your opponent's monsters in the same column as one of your "S-Force" monsters can only target that monster for attacks.". If you didn't get this effect already by reading all it's saying: "While this card is on the field, your opponent can only attack S-Force monsters in the same column of the attacking monster" this locks your opponent (not you), from attacking freely.
Is another monster that banishes one of your S-Force monsters from your hand to supply a (Quick Effect): "When your opponent monster (they control) activates their effect you can banish one S-Force Monster from your hand and destroy that Monster"
Now this effect is... ok? It doesn't negate the activation/effect it just destroys the monster, it doesn't target the card either so I guess if you wanna out a monster that usually activate their effects but it cannot be targeted... This is the effect you can use to out that card... I guess? 🤔
The other section of the archetype is stunning your opponent in someway, but for the effects to work: they will also need to be in the same column as the S-Force monsters so...
Each monster that your opponent controlls that's in the same column as this card, when they leave the field they will be banished!
Once, per, turn... If this card is Summoned(Special/Normal) to the field, you can add one S-Force Card from the deck to the hand! Might be helpful for getting some of your support cards from your deck to the hand; it's dissatisfying that this card is not a lvl 4 or lower monster; which forces you to Special Summon if you don't have/wanna waste a tribute summon...
Each monster that's in the same column as this one, will lose 600 ATK.
Once, per, turn... If this card is Summoned(Special/Normal) to the field, you can Special Summon ONE BANISHED S-Force Monster onto the field. This is a great way how to bring back monsters you banished with (S-Force Rappa Chiyomaru) or (S-Force Orrafist), back onto your field. The only thing is you "CANNOT" Special Summon a banished (S-Force Pla-Tina), so she cannot target herself for the SS...
Each monster in the same column as this one, cannot change their battle position.
Once, per, turn... If this card is Summoned (Normal/Special), you can target one monster your opponent controls and switch their battle position. This effect is an overall meh... It's a good option for non-link related decks
The Spell/Trap cards that make this archetype "WORK"...
(Which is a Secret-Rare BTW), This can only be activated once, per, turrrnn... Once activated you can add 1 S-Force card from your deck to the hand; Also when an opponent attacks one of your S-Force monsters that's in the same column of the attacking monster ([S-Force Rappa Chiyomaru] can force this activation with her effect) this effect can only be used "ONCE" per turn...
Activate 1 of these effects:
Special summon from the hand
Add 1 monster from the GY to the hand
Can only activate this card per turn...
Again pretty decent support...
Target cards up to the number S-Force monsters you control (with different names), and send them back to the hand; If A S-Force Monster effect would banish A card(s) from the hand, you can banish this card from the GY instead.
This is actually a pretty good trap card, it doesn't destroy and it's a pretty good spot removal for pesky cards... only downside for this card is that it "TARGETS" but I can't complain too much it's a GREAT out for Mystic Mine; The other effect comes in handy as-well if you wanna activate Rappa Chiyomaru, but you have no cards in your hand... you can banish the trap SS the Pla-Tina, Pla-Tina then goes for one of your banished S-Force Monsters and place them back on the field 😇
Another great recovery card (or A second Pla-Tina). You can SS 1 S-Force Monster from your GY or that was banished "INTO" a column of your opponent's monster they control; If this card is in the GY you can then banish it, then move your S-Force Monster into another (Main) Monster Zone.
A pretty good card to recover some loss of your S-Force monsters that was sent to your GY rather destroyed/used for ED summoning; Needing your S-Force Monsters in your banished pile so your "S-Force Pla-Tina" & "S-Force Specimen" becomes live.
That one ED Monster
Requires 3 Effect Monsters, including a S-Force Monster to link summon.
(Passive Effect): You cannot Summon/Set monsters to a zone(s) this card points to; At the start of the Damage Step, if this card attacks: You can banish all monsters this card points to.
(Quick Effect): Once, per, tuuurrrnnn... You can target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; negate its effects until the end of this turn, then you can move that opponent's monster to their Monster Zone this card points to.
This monster carries the deck, but the whole targeting thing isn't so great, since "MOST" boss monsters cannot be targeted with card effects but I can't complain because of the 2 passive effects which are really good on their own.
The Profile
Main Deck
Monsters
1x PSY-Frame Driver
3x PSY-Framegear Gamma (The gamma package for negation)
2x Archnemeses Eschatos (Banishing your S-Force Monsters for a Boss monster that can destroy & can't be destroyed is a honest trade-off + you can use the effects of "S-Force Specimen"/"S-Force Pla-Tina")
3x Parallel eXceed (This is general support for cyberse LINK plays)
3x Radian, the Multidimensional Kaiju (SPOT REMOVAL)
1x S-Force Gravitino (Not really needed at 3 nor useful at 2 since this can be searched with the field and special summoned with Rappa Chiyomaru, also can be recovered with specimen & pla-tina)
2x S-Force Pla-Tina
3x S-Force Edge Laser/S-Force Orrafist (Most likely will replace with Edge Laser once it's out)
Spells
3x Allure Of Darkness (Draw Power)
3x Cynet Mining (Search for Edge/Orrafist)
1x RoTA (Search for Rappa Chiyomaru)
1x Terraforming (Search for field... to search for things)
3x S-Force Bridgehead
1x Called By The Grave
3x S-Force Showdown (This card was the most complicated card I've ever handled in a deck, I wanted to see it when I have another S-Force Monster in my hand, but didn't want to see it if I didn't... I decided to run it at 3 since I have so many searches, so I at-least will have 1 S-Force Monster in the hand)
Traps
3x S-Force Chase
3x S-Force Specimen (Reasons are obvious...)
Extra Deck
1x ZEUS
1x Firewall eXceed Dragon
2x Time Thief Redoer

Having just finished re-watching dsod, I was reminded of my fanfic where I’m rewriting the manga canon, making it puzzle, with Yugi having always known Atemu was there.
And I remembered that I wrote a scene for the series when it comes up to dsod (I actually have the final chapter completely written, but I can’t start the actual story until I can find a transcript of the movie), and I’m actually rather proud of what I wrote.
So, because I’m nice, and because I’m not sure when I’ll get around to actually writing the last fic of the series, here is the scene where Atemu returns to help Yugi in the movie, written in a rather... puzzle-y way. Forgive me, I tried not to make it seem corny or whatever, so I hope it’s alright.
--
Yugi stumbled, getting to his feet. That attack, it was... he ached, he felt terrible, he felt like he was falling apart. Those strange, black and purple shadows, they tried to consume him as they did Kaiba, and to much of the people around them.
Even his friends...
However, something was off.
There was a feeling, a familiar feeling, one that he had not felt in so long, one he had almost forgotten.
The feeling of a darkness, but not this one, not these shadows that took people to another, dangerous dimension. No, this was a darkness that let him know that he was safe, that the danger would be taken care of. A darkness that watched him from when he was eight, and cared so deeply about him throughout the years…
Could it… could it really be…?
But that's impossible, only one person could make him feel safe in the dark.
Yugi shook his head, reaching for his cards as his vision began to fade, his mind wondering as to why he was suddenly feeling this. He couldn't focus on that, he had to draw his card, to end this before this monster Diva's plans succeeded.
“I still believe... in the heart of the... nnn...”
He felt... like this was the end...
“... Cards...”
‘Everyone, I’m so sorry…’
The darkness, Diva's powers, they closed in around him, just as he began to close his eyes, for what could be the last time.
Aibou.
A surge, of life, of power, burned through the duelist.
For the first time in months, he felt... whole. He felt right. Something that he had gotten use to, only to have taken away from him, was back. His body glowed bright, like the sun, like gold, startling the monster before him.
Who was in control?
Yugi? Atemu?
It did not matter, the latter, the former, it was both.
“This... cannot be! The Pharaoh has returned!” The Dark Diva shouted, terrified. He hadn't expected the spirit's return, especially since the puzzle was empty! But... but he was here, staring at him from across the field...!
'Yugi' narrowed his eyes, reaching for his deck, and touched a card that seemed to glow for a moment. He stared at the monster across the platform, orchid and crimson eyes flashed, as he drew the card, putting it into play on the duel disk.
Summoned to the field, was the most loyal servant of the Pharaoh's court, 'Yugi' had dimension summoned Palladium Oracle Mahado, a monster with a very special effect.
Without uttering a word, 'Yugi' let his magician attack, his attack raising from 2500 to 5000 due to Crimson Nova Trinity being a dark monster, giving Mahado a power boost. In a flash of lights, Mahado cast a spell, attacking the monster, blasting away the creature and the rest of Dark Diva's life points.
The blast was strong, powerful, and not just the magic of the magician was put into play.
No, this was magic from Atemu.
Dark Diva screamed as he was sent flying, the mutation to his body shattered when the ring flew from around his neck, his body returning to normal. He slammed into the ground, passing out as he vanished into golden light.
And thus... the duel was over.
The darkness had been lifted, people were returning from the other dimension. Atemu smiled, grabbing at the chain of the puzzle as he felt himself split from Yugi. It was quick, a flash, and they stood before one another, for the first time in months.
Yugi stared at the man he called 'Other Me', he was beautiful, perfect, just as Yugi remembered him.
Aibou. Atemu smiled softly.
I missed you so much. Thank you... thank you for helping me, everyone. Yugi smiled as well, looking at the man he called his other half for so long.
You do not have to thank me, I only came to give you the extra strength to win. This was all you.
But you were in control.
We both were, but you especially. Instead of me, you are the one to save the world. Yugi, you have come a long way from the little boy who tried to put together the puzzle when he was eight.
Yugi smiled softly, giving a nod. I guess I have. Thank you, I... I'm happy to see you again.
And I am happy to see you as well, Aibou. Atemu smiled, nodding as well, but then frowned softly. I must leave, I can't stay long. I... I'm taking this, the puzzle, with me, it has caused you enough trouble.
… I understand. Will I... Will I ever see you again?
Atemu stared at him, crimson met orchid, before the soft smile returned to his lips. We will, I am sure of it. I feel it in me that we shall meet again, and I will be waiting for you. For now, farewell, Aibou.
Farewell, Other Me. Yugi nodded, smiling back at him. Until we meet again.
The spirit moved to touch the puzzle, hesitant for a few seconds, before he touched the eye piece. The cracks between the pieces glowed, before the puzzle was engulfed in light, vanishing. Atemu himself left with it in a flash of golden light, becoming sparkling light orbs, heading to the sky.
Yugi stared at the spot his former shadow had been standing in, looking up to see the beautiful golden trail of light heading into the night sky. “I love you...” He whispered softly, frowning a little.
His heart ached, but... he also was happy to have seen him once more. He had just wished he had gotten the chance to say he loved him one last time...
Maybe... the next time they meet, he can tell him that.
But when will that be?

So! I finally got around to jotting my thoughts down about RC’s Battle City deck and some of the themes that were at play with her duel with Kaiba. I will definitely do one of these for both of the upcoming duels as well, because they’re also going to have a lot I wanna talk about thematically especially the final duel which is intentionally going to be heavy-handed af lmao.
Over Level Five (6): Wicked Eraser E (ante card) Wingweaver (won by ante rule) Patrician of Darkness E (won by ante rule) Labyrinth Wall Queen of Autumn Leaves Invitation to a Dark Sleep E Level Four and Under (13): Green Phantom King Hibikime* Queen’s Double* E Tainted Wisdom E Princess of Tsurugi E Protector of the Throne Unhappy Maiden E Invader of the Throne E Woodland Sprite E Dreamsprite E 4-Star Ladybug of Doom E Hunter with 7 Weapons E Rainbow Flower E  Magic (12): Exchange (won by ante rule) Polymerization* Warrior Returns Alive Shield and Sword United We Stand Nobleman of Crossout Nobleman of Extermination Vile Germs Reliable Guardian Forceful Sentry Messenger of Peace Monster Recovery Trap (11): Mirror Wall (won by ante rule) Gift of Mystical Elf Robbin’ Goblin Minor Goblin Official Enchanted Javelin Horn of Heaven Dust Tornado Blast With Chain Royal Oppression A Feint Plan Snake Fang Extra Deck: Empress Judge* Total: 42 (Extra deck does not count, per rulebook) Okay, so. I’d like to start out by emphasizing that this is not, strictly speaking, a good deck. It is a functional deck, and a more or less balanced deck, but not necessarily a good one. I wouldn’t use this deck, tbvh. (Granted, Kaiba’s deck isn’t great either, but we’ll skip over that for now.) So, at firs glance, it would seem like there are two apparent aesthetic themes to this deck, as many characters have – Fantasy Royalty, and Plants, which can pretty easily be combined, especially with the addition of RC’s parents’ cards, Queen of Autumn Leaves and Green Phantom King (both of which she uses, and I’ll come back to that part here in a sec). But once we start to look past the overlying motifs and get into the card’s effects, this deck is about one thing: control. More specifically, a child’s idea of control, the sort of “You’re going to do what I want you to do, and if you don’t, I’m gonna throw a fit until it works.” Let’s get into that with the monsters first. Now, it didn’t make an appearance in the Battle City duel but I did mention it existed: Wicked Eraser. Wicked Eraser was a special card from a Shonen Jump ages ago, and its effect is on par with a god card’s. It requires three tributes to summon, and cannot be special summoned; its attack and defense points are determined by the amount of cards your opponent controls times 1000; and most importantly, if the card is destroyed for any reason and sent to the graveyard, everything on the field is destroyed with it. Just...wonderful cinematic parallels to the actual canon happening just outside of RC’s periphery. But let’s go a little deeper into her monster lineup. Labyrinth Wall is a card she’s real fond of, because it’s arguably the best defensive card in the game for that time – it’s defense is equal to BEWD attack at base, and it only requires one tribute. Perfect to build redirectional combos off of (Mirror Wall, Messenger of Peace, Reliable Guardian). Now, good ol’ Patty was an ante win, but she already had Dreamsprite in her deck, which had essentially the same effect – “your attack goes where I tell it to”. And Invitation – “but not that one”. Invader of the Throne says, “I can take what’s yours and make it mine”, Queen’s Double, Rainbow Flower, Woodland Sprite and Princess of Tsurugi all send the message of “I can hurt you whenever I want” – where Unhappy Maiden, 4-Star Ladybug and Blast With Chain say “but if you dare to hurt me, then this whole thing is over”. And if those don’t work? Fuck it, Tainted Wisdom and Monster Recovery will shuffle the deck, we can just start this process all over again. Now, aside of the redirectional combos, the Traps are where her real strengths come through – Horn of Heaven and Royal Oppression ban special summoning – at a price, of course, but if she gets to say what is acceptable, then who cares? And if something does slip through the cracks? Noblemen of Crossout and Extermination ensure you can’t use any more of those things. You’re starting to whittle me down anyway? Robbin’ Goblin matches discards, and Minor Goblin official saps 500 LP every turn after the user reaches half LP. A Feint Plan says “you can’t touch my facedown”, and Ready For Intercepting resets a summoned monster to facedown – ideal for Flip monsters. And to use as a springboard, she relies on…well, her parents. In moments of dire need, she calls on the cards her parents gave her. These cards represent more of a visual and aesthetic theme than with the structural usage of the deck, but they’re equally important – at first blush, these plant cards don’t seem like they fit in a whole awful lot, but just as with plants, children rely on outside sources to grow. Especially Woodland Sprite – for the cost of an equipment card, you can do 500 direct damage to your opponent’s LP. Now again, I’ll reiterate: this isn’t a good deck. It takes a lot of unnecessary risks and it uses a lot of expensive cards without backup combos – which, frankly, is just like a kid fresh out of high school who wants to prove themselves to the world.

How to Scoop Less: Misconceptions of Current Format Cards
Or: That Card Doesn’t Do What You Think It Does
Welcome back, it’s been a while. I have a post sitting in my drafts about counters to Sky Striker, but I recently qualified as a judge after noticing a lot of people getting rulings horribly wrong at my most recent regional, so here’s a discussion of a bunch of cards I’ve seen at tournament tables that frequently cause ruling disputes.
This may not be hugely applicable to you if you primarily play the game through automated simulators (YGOPRO etc.), but it could still help you plan plays simply by nature of having a better understanding of how cards interact with one another.
Without further ado.
Time Thief Redoer (generic Rank 4, typically seen in decks making Outer Entity Azzathot)
Unlike most other Xyz monsters, this card does not detach materials as cost to activate its Quick Effect. This mostly has to do with its interaction with another card (covered later in this post), but as for Redoer in a vacuum, the main thing to remember is that this means you can negate this effect with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. In fact, due to how Ash is worded, it doesn’t even matter if Redoer has a Spell as material: your opponent is activating an effect that includes an effect that draws a card, so Ash can be legally activated in response. (This has no bearing on the reasoning behind this ruling, but Time Thief Bezel Ship is an example of a card that would allow for Redoer to detach a Spell Card that wasn’t attached to it at activation.)
The Phantom Knights’ Rank-Up-Magic Launch (Former Raidraptor staple and maker of Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon in Phantom Knights, now makes Azzathot)
This is the card I mentioned in the above paragaraph. This isn’t so much a ruling problem as much as a people don’t read card text problem, so let me make it clear that this card can only be activated in the Main Phase, as per its card text, and can only target a DARK Xyz monster with no materials. This means that, in order for the Redoer play to work, your opponent must use its effect on their turn (You can negate this with Ash, Veiler, and Impermanence, and it will resolve without effect if you chain Ogre), banish it, allow it to return, proceed through your Draw and Standby phases (during which you can activate Quick-play spells like Twin Twisters to destroy the Rank-Up-Magic), and then activate the Rank-Up-Magic in your Main Phase once you have passed priority, assuming of course that your first course of action isn’t to Special Summon a sided-in Dinowrestler Pankratops. This also means they can’t take the top card of your deck with Redoer in the Standby Phase of the same turn they make Azzathot, because again, Redoer does not detach as cost.
Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade
The Phantom Knights of Ancient Cloak cannot search this card. Also it works like Fiendish Chain, which means it only negates effects while the monster is on field.
Lunalight Yellow Marten
This card can’t search Luna Light Perfume and won’t activate if sent off of Lunalight Kaleido Chick (Kaleido Chick sends as cost, not as effect). This deck was plenty strong before people realized they could cheat with it, so please call a judge on your opponent if they try this.
Sky Striker spells (all except Area Zero and Multirole)
The clause “if you have 3 or more Spells in your GY” checks on resolution of the effect, not on activation, and Normal/Quick-play Spells are normally not sent to the GY until the entire Chain in which they were activated resolves. This means that the activated Spell will not count toward the 3 you need for the additional effect, which you probably already knew, but it also means that you can use Twin Twisters to destroy your own Spell cards before they resolve, which does make them count toward the 3 Spells in grave.
Sky Striker Ace - Raye
Sky Striker Extra Deck monsters summoned off of Raye’s effect are not considered to have been properly Summoned, so you can’t Summon them off of Monster Reborn (or Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze, in the specific case of Kagari)
Salamangreat main deck: Foxy, Spinny, Falco, Gazelle
In order:
Card effects resolve where they activate, so Foxy’s GY effect can destroy Skill Drain/The Monarchs Erupt.
Xyz materials aren’t on field, but becoming an Xyz material doesn’t make a card leave field either, so Spinny will not be banished if used as Xyz material.
Falco’s GY effect can target Extra Deck Salamangreat monsters, or a Spinny summoned off of its own effect, but will not summon itself from GY in either case because of the “and if you do” conjunction in the effect. Since the monster doesn’t return to your hand (it instead returns to the Extra Deck or is banished), you can’t summon Falco.
Effects like that of Salamangreat Gazelle (Trigger effects that summon from hand) work in a particular way: these effects only check if their activation conditions were met at some point in the previous Chain or as the result of an out-of-chain action taken by the turn player, and in the former case, this means that the card doesn’t actually have to be in hand at the time that action occurs¹. For a practical example, this means that if Foxy is destroyed before its Normal Summon effect resolves (say by Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit), and you add a copy of Gazelle off of this effect, you can then summon that Gazelle off of its own effect because Foxy was destroyed.
Gazelle’s effect in hand can’t be activated during Damage Step, which means that it can’t summon when a Salamangreat monster is destroyed by battle.
Also: in the TCG, if you Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx using a Salamangreat monster with Gazelle in hand, you can activate the Trigger effects of Balelynx and Gazelle in any order. The OCG has a separate rule for this which dictates a “priority” level for various kinds of optional Trigger effects, which is why they might not go on Chain properly in YGOPRO.
Salamangreat Extra Deck: Balelynx, Sunlight Wolf, Heatleo, Miragestallio
Again, in order:
Balelynx’s GY effect is a destruction replacement effect similar to that of Proxy Dragon, Return of the Dragon Lords, and Zefra Providence. It does not start a Chain, cannot be negated, and is restricted to once per turn.
Neither of the effects of Sunlight Wolf target. In addition, the restriction of its Trigger effect applies only if the card is actually added to the hand, which means you can cycle Extra Deck monsters with this effect and still Summon monsters with that name later in the same turn.
Heatleo cannot spin Field Spells because they’re not in the Spell/Trap Zones.
Miragestallio’s first effect does not lock you into FIRE monster effects if it resolves negated.
Danger! monsters
The hand effects of Danger! monsters can be activated even if Droll & Lock Bird’s effect is applying, but you will not draw if you discard a card with a different name. They can also be activated if Vanity’s Fiend is on the field, but the Danger! monster will stay in hand if it’s not discarded by its own effect (and you also won’t draw in this case). This works because random effects are nonsense. [See: Minerva the Exalted Lightsworn under Droll & Lock Bird]
Orcust Extra Deck monsters, particularly Longirsu and Orcustrion
Only one of the targeted banished Machine monsters has to be shuffled into the Deck for these effects to resolve correctly; this is because the card says “shuffle them” instead of “shuffle those targets”. This means you can, say, activate Orcustrion targeting 3 banished Machines, then activate Longirsu as Chain Link 2 (if Orcustrated Babel is active) targeting two of those same Machine monsters, and then activate Galatea as Chain Link 3, targeting one of the Machine monsters that Longirsu targeted, and all three effects would resolve without issue even though you only shuffled three monsters. [See: Ritual Beast Ulti-Cannahawk]
That’s all for now. I’m fairly confident that all of the above is right, but please send an ask if you notice any misinformation or have questions about anything above. Thanks for reading.
This is a well-established ruling that’s come up in several formats [see: Astrograph/Chronograph Sorcerer, Altergeist Multifaker, Star Seraph Scepter + Sovereignty], but is still contested fairly often. It is why cards which have Trigger effects that summon from GY or hand have the wording “Special Summon this card from your GY (if it was there when [effect trigger happened]) or hand (even if not)”; this reminder text is not functional, it simply restates how these Trigger Effects work.

Dennis: At this moment, I activate the Quick-Play Magic in my hand: Rank-Up-Magic Magical Force! It can Special Summon a monster that was destroyed in battle, with its effects negated! Swing across a grander stage, With even more splendor and magnificence than before! Rank-Up Xyz Change! Come forth! Rank-5! Entermage Trapeze High Magician! Allen: Oh! A Rank-Up Magic! Awesome! It can attack three times! Gloria: If this goes through, the match will be settled. Grace: You’re sure about that? Yuya can just deflect it with an Action Card! Kid: Ken-chan, they’re dangerous! Attack Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Yuya: Damn! AAAH! Dennis: Attack Miracle Mirrabbit! Dennis: This is it. I attack directly with Trapeze High Magician! Yuya: I activate Entermate Gongcat’s Pendulum Effect! When there’s no monster on my Field, The battle damage will become zero! Allen: All right! He’s managed to survive! Dennis: I end my turn. Well? It was even more exciting than you expected, wasn’t it? Yuya: No. There’s still more to come! The fun has just begun! It’s my turn! Using the Scales I’ve already set, I can revive my monsters! Pendulum Summon! Be revived from the Extra Deck! Level-7! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Level-4! Entermate Miracle Mirrabbit! I Normal Summon Entermate Sword Fish! Yuya: I activate Sword Fish’s Monster Effect! Until the End Phase, An opposing monster will lose 600 ATK! Grace: Dennis has no set card and his hand is empty! Gloria: Looks like Yuya’s going to win. Dennis: It will be a disservice to the spectators if this show ends with an anticlimax! I detach one of Trapeze High Magician’s Overlay Units, And activate its Monster Effect! Due to this, Trapeze High Magician won’t be destroyed by battle or effect for up to three times during this turn! Dennis: All right! Can you get all the way up here? Gloria: Impressive. With that effect, it won’t be destroyed for three times. And Yuya only has 100 Life left. Grace: In order to get through that effect, He needs a monster with ATK higher than Trapeze High Magician’s. But how many does he need? Odd-Eyes alone won’t be enough. Yuya: Ladies and gentlemen! It’s finally time for the climax! Watch this, everyone! The glory of victory awaits me on the summit of the tower! I’ll prepare something, so that Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon can take me up there! From my hand, I activate the Continuous Magic, Challenge Stairs! When I attack an opposing monster and it is not destroyed, By releasing a card on my Field, I can attack one more time! Yuya: Then, from my hand, I activate the Continuous Magic, Hope Stairs! Due to this, a monster that has battled with an opposing monster will gain 400 ATK until the Standby Phase of the next turn! Reiji: By using Xiangsheng Magician’s Pendulum Effect, He can make Sword Fish Level-4, And use it and Miracle Mirrabbit as materials, In order to call forth Dark Rebellion. Yuya: Well then! Battle! Yuya: Let’s go, Odd-Eyes! Yuya: I attack Trapeze High Magician with Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Dennis: Due to Trapeze High Magician’s effect, it won’t be destroyed by battle. Yuya: Even if its destruction is negated, you’ll still take damage! Yuya: Due to Hope Stairs’ effect, Odd-Eyes gains 400 ATK! Dennis: I activate Reversal Dancer’s Pendulum Effect! Once during each turn, When an opposing monster gains ATK through a card’s effect, A monster on my Field will also gain ATK equal to that amount! Yuya: Then, I activate Miracle Mirrabbit’s effect! In exchange for this card not being able to attack, Another monster on my Field can attack a second time! Yuya: Odd-Eyes! Make a second attack! Yuya: Due to its effect, Trapeze High Magician won’t be destroyed, But you’ll still take damage! Yuya: Due to Hope Stairs’ effect, Odd-Eyes will gain 400 ATK! Yuya: I’m not done yet! Using the effect of the Continuous Magic, Challenge Stairs, I can release Xiangsheng Magician in order to make a third attack! Kid: He did it! He smashed through the effect! Yuya: You’ll also receive damage! Yuya: Due to Hope Stairs’ effect, Odd-Eyes will gain 400 ATK! Kid 1: Just a bit more! You can do it! Kid 2: You can do it! Yuya: With this, Trapeze High Magician’s effect is now finished. And there’s more! Yuya: Using Challenge Stairs’ effect, I can make a fourth attack! Dennis: How unfortunate! Even if you destroy my Trapeze High Magician, I’ll still have 200 Life left! You’ve lost! Yuya: Action Magic, Miracle! Dennis: What!? When did you…!? Yuya: A bit before going up here, I picked up the card you prevented me from taking. Dennis: But Miracle is a card that negates a monster’s destruction and halves the damage! How are you going to win with that? Yuya: Right! I’m going to activate this on Trapeze High Magician! Dennis: What!? Yuya: And you’ll take damage. Odd-Eyes also gains 400 ATK due to Hope Stairs’ effect! And since I couldn’t destroy the monster, Challenge Stairs’ effect activates! I release Sword Fish, and make a fifth attack! This is the finale of the show! I attack Trapeze High Magician with Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Spiral Strike Burst! Dennis: AAAAHHHHHH! Allen: He’s done it! Random Dude: That observatory… Our family went up there before. That’s right… It was the day I won a Duel tournament. Woman: You said this before. “I’ll entertain my family with my Dueling from now on.” Random Dude: Right. Random Kid: Hey! Teach me Entertainment Dueling! Yuya: Okay! Got it! He has conducted an entertaining Duel, So now, Dennis will teach you all about Entertainment Dueling! Dennis: Eh? Yuya: I’m counting on you, Dennis. Teach them the genuine Entertainment Dueling my father taught you! Dennis: Yuya! Okay! Let’s do this! Dennis: Thank you, Yuya. (Preview for Episode 145) Yuya: In order to save Yuzu… I have to bring back Reira’s smile with my Dueling! (Egao Count: 280+1=281) Kurosaki! Duel me right now! Captain Falcon: Both Ruri and Yuto are gone… The only thing I have left is Dueling… Yuya! Let’s settle this! Yuya: Next time on Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V: Unending Rebellion The fun has just begun!

Dennis: A half-baked trick like that won’t work, either!
Dennis: If a monster is equipped with Antique Gear Mask, Once per turn, it cannot be destroyed by battle or effect!
Yuya: But you’ll still take damage!
Yuya: When Odd-Eyes battles a Level-5 or above monster, The damage will be doubled! Reaction Force!
Dennis: Tch! How dare you…
Yuya: Come on! It’s just a scratch!
Dennis: But you won’t be able to overcome my dark powers with pathetic tricks like that!
Yuya: Oh, the real show is just getting started.
Dennis: What!?
Yuya: That’s right! Its title is… Mirror Magic Show! First off is Miracle Mirrabbit’s entry!
Yuya: Huh? Hey! We’re in the middle of a Duel!
Yuya: Now then, Odd-Eyes’s image will be reflected in Miracle Mirrabbit’s mirror!
Yuya: What!? In exchange for Mirror Mirrabbit not being able to attack, Another monster will be able to attack twice!
Yuya: Now, since Odd-Eyes have received Miracle Mirrabbit’s power, It can conduct a second battle! Attack Trapeze Force Witch!
Dennis: No matter what you do, nothing will change! Due to Trapeze Force Witch’s effect, it will lose 600 ATK!
Yuya: Then, Miracle Mirrabbit’s other effect! This card’s ATK will be modified instead! I’ll double the damage with Reaction Force!
(ZETSUBOU commercial. Brb)
Yuya: Did you all enjoy the Mirror Magic Entertainment Show? Then, I shall now end my turn. Up next is the best Entertainment Duelist of the Fusion Dimension! Dennis Macfield, who has crossed dimensions to deliver a thrilling entertainment show to everyone!
Dennis: What nonsense are you spouting!?
Yuya: Reveal it! Your true self, Dennis!
Dennis: You’ve seen through everything, huh? Then, I have no choice. IT’S SHOW TIME!
Dennis: It’s my turn! Using the Scale-2 Entermage Reversal Dancer and the Scale-6 Entermage Fire Dancer, I set the Pendulum Scales! With this, I can simultaneously summon monsters between Level-3 and 5! Pendulum Summon! Be revived from the Extra Deck! Level-4! Entermage Bubble Gardna! Level-4! Entermage Filmsy Slimmer! I overlay the Level-4 Bubble Gardna and Filmsy Slimmer together!
Dennis: It’s  time for the entrance of my show’s indispensable magician! The show must go on! Magician of the ether! Swing across the stage with splendor! Xyz Summon! Come on out! Rank-4! Entermage Trapeze Magician!
Random Kid 1: Beautiful…
Random Kid 2: Amazing!
Dennis: The best is yet to come! I detach one of Trapeze Magician’s Overlay Units and activate his effect! Now you get to enjoy his acrobat show two times in a row! The first battle! Attack Miracle Mirrabbit!
Yuya: Action Magic, Evasion! It negates a monster’s attack!
Dennis: Yuya! Because you avoided my attack, My victory is now guaranteed!
Yuya: No! Nothing is set in stone yet!
Dennis: I’ll win. I’ll go for Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon with my second attack!
Yuya: Huh? Odd-Eyes?
Grace: But their ATKs are the same…
Gloria: What is he trying to do?
Yuya: Action Magic, Miracle! The monster won’t be destroyed, and the damage is halved!
Dennis: At this moment, I activate the Quick-Play Magic in my hand: Rank-Up-Magic Magical Force! It can Special Summon a monster that was destroyed in battle, with its effects negated! Using this card and that monster as materials, I can Xyz Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster that is one Rank higher!
Yuya: What!?
Dennis: The show must go on! Magician of the ether! Swing across a grander stage, With even more splendor and magnificence than before!  Rank-Up Xyz Change! Come forth! Rank-5! Entermage Trapeze High Magician!
Allen: Oh! A Rank-Up Magic! Awesome!
Dennis: I detach one of Trapeze High Magician’s Overlay Units, And activate its Monster Effect. Due to this, Trapeze High Magician can now attack three times this turn!
Kid: Amazing! It can attack three times!
Gloria: If this goes through, the match will be settled.
Grace: You’re sure about that? Yuya can just deflect it with an Action Card!
Kid: Ken-chan, they’re dangerous! Stop it!
Gloria: Do you like Dueling? You’ll have a better view if you’re in front.
Dennis: Let’s see if you can keep up with Trapeze High Magician’s high-speed acrobatic attacks!
“I’ll entertain my family with my Dueling from now on.”
Random Dude: Right.
Random Kid: Hey! Teach me Entertainment Dueling!
