The Spirit of the Surge
The swirling depths of your
Somber ocean eyes
Haphazardly, harrowingly.
They follow me from coast to coast
Aboard the haunted vessel I forged
From my very own dreams and dread.
With or without you, I believe that I have gone adrift
And vanished into the foamy marine;
The waves thirstily replenishing around me,
Pulling me too far from the waterfront to see
The cerulean gaze that once pierced my cold, soggy
Waterlogged heart.
Each night I've felt your salty breath grace my skin,
Grasping out for me, yet being sundered by the cruel storm.
Thunder reverberating, lightning electrifying the air,
Terror ringing deep into my hollowed-out bones,
Monstrous fear clinging to my choked throat,
Ensnaring ne like the tendrils of a livid kraken.
Just like you, the sea is beautiful.
But, just like you, she is terrible.
Regretfully, she enacts her vengeance.
She sheds her thunderous tears
And they come crashing into me, striking me right through the heart,
Piercing my heavenly vessel.
She begins to sink asunder
Growing further and further away from the shore
Until we are little bit dirt and debris,
Drifting in the cold ocean current.
Until all that remains is the shivering ghost of my love
And the scorching spite of Kymopoleia.

Kaixo!
I’ve noticed a lot of Spanish influences in Euskara, could the same be said with French?
Kaixo anon!
There's a common misconception regarding Basque words that look like their Spanish counterparts. More often than not - and I'm not saying it's your case - people assume that Basque took the Spanish loanword and that's it, when maaaany cases they're Latin loanwords. Just like in Spanish or French.
Some examples: gaztelu [castle] doesn't come from Spanish castillo or French château but from Latin castellum. Diru [money] doesn't come from Spanish dinero but from Latin denarium. Ezpata [sword] doesn't come from Spanish espada but from Latin spata. Portu [harbor] doesn't come from Spanish puerto or French port but from Latin portus. And the list goes on.
That said, yes, there are Spanish loanwords that are usually technical or words that are more or less the same in many languages (ie. ospitale - hospital). There are also French loanwords, that are maybe more used in northern dialects. That's what's awesome about Basque: it's a very lexically rich language!

Hera helping Mama an Papa cook a fish for Auntie Blake's birthday
Tumblr media
Hera stared down at the floppy fish in the pan. Her mama was helping her with the spata-thingy to move the fish around. She wanted to make sure it was cooked super duper well for her Auntie Blake!
---LATER---
Blake lowered her book down to the floor after she heard a small, muffled "Grrf!" next to her. Blake was surprised, and reluctant to say, jumped to see Hera sitting down and looking up at her. A small fish toy was in her mouth and a small envelope was balanced on her head. Blake could see her name on the envelope so she gingerly reached down and took it. After quickly tearing it open, she read a very short message.
Happy birthday Blake from Hera and your sister team JNPR! When you get this, message Jaune and he'll send you something super special!
-Pyrrha
As Blake was reading the note, she started doing just as it asked. Not 10 seconds after sending the message, she received a reply with an image attached. When she opened it, she was greeted by an animated image of the same puggle that was sitting next to her sitting in front of a pan. In the pan was a toy fish that looked just like the one Hera was carrying, flopping around as it was pushed with a spatula. It actually looked a little like Hera herself was moving it.
As she was watching the GIF several times, she got another message.
Hera worked really hard on your big birthday meal!
Blake looked away from her scroll and back down to Hera. When Hera saw her Auntie looking at her again, her tail started wagging all over again! She padded forward just a bit closer to the bed, holding her head up high, and offered the fishy up to her Auntie.
Blake was unsure about what to do for a good minute. Her past dislike of dogs wasn't as strong as it used to be, but she just didn't know what to make of what was happening. Then she remembered how cute Hera had been when she finally got over her phobia and played fetch with her. So Blake slowly closed her book and slowly reached down, taking the fish toy from Hera who freely let go as soon as Blake's hand was on it. "U-uuuh... Thank you Hera?"
Hera sprang to her feet, her little tail wagging quickly. She let out a very excited "Aiip!" and proceeded to run in a few circles before bouncing over to the dorm room's door, which Blake now just realized was open, and happily bounded outside. Blake's acute hearing could easily pick up excited praise being showered on Hera from the dorm across the hall.
Blake picked up her book, still looking at the door, but as she was about to look back down and continue reading, a message notification pinged on her scroll. She opened it up to see another message from Jaune.
Thanks a ton Blake! Hera was really happy you liked her gift. Happy birthday and I hope we didn't bother you too much after you asked for some peace and quiet today!
Blake felt herself slowly start smiling as she saw a picture attached to the message. It was of Team JNPR all looking into the camera, all smiling in their own unique way. Blake noticed that Jaune was closer than everyone else, indicating that he was probably taking the picture selfie style. Blake also noticed that Hera was in Pyrrha's arms and had an equally big smile with her tongue hanging out.
Blake put down her scroll and just thought for a moment before finally opening her book again and continued reading.
The fish toy safely resting on her stomach as she read.
Happy (late) Birthday to Blake Belladonna!

In lieu of trying to understand everything about this situation, there's a line in this article that confirmed my thoughts on the matter.
“Do I believe that the words that we speak today, how we vote today influences directly international policy? I don’t. I don’t have those illusions,” said Alderman Daniel La Spata, one of the resolution’s sponsors. “But we vote with hope. We vote with solidarity. We vote to help people feel heard in a world of silence.”
