Don't forget about the most metal planet in the galaxy: Sparr. Just as miserable, snowy places tended to inspire the art back on ancient Cradle, so too has there been a revival of metal on Sparr, where skalds saw it as a natural extension of their bardic traditions. Native Sparri music blends almost seamlessly with metal's hallmarks, to the point where many unfamiliar with the metal genre assume the Sparri invented it. The stage presence of Sparri metal artists is as intimidating as it is awe-inspiring; they can scream with the best of them, and their mosh pits are not for the faint of heart.

But despite all stereotypes, Sparri metalheads very much embrace the other side to this musical culture as well: the music is their emotional outlet, and otherwise they are the chillest, kindest, politest people you will ever meet. You will perhaps find no one more immediately ready to lend a helping hand than a metalhead.

Of course, Sparri culture has all of the obvious reasons for loving metal as well. What else would one listen to while flying through the air at a raging kaiju in a half-sized mech?

Ok dudes so I'm sure someone's asked about this, but essentially I'm starting my first Lancer character soon (it's Wallflower, no spoilers plz!), and he's essentially a musical historian/archeologist. He literally went to Union college for pre-Fall music history, and specializes in Metal. A great deal of his aesthetic and the name of his mech are inspired by Brutal Legend, which through the annals of thousands and thousands of years of lost history, he and his fellow scholars believe is a mythological saga/canon about the birth of Cradle and the "sacred art" of Metal.

However, even though his specialty and primary taste is in this archeological music, he is also a well-connected video essayist and streamer (the impetus for him becoming a pilot but that's unimportant atm), and thus knows just a little bit about current music scenes all across human space, and a bunch about music from "recent" history.

So I ask, you, dear Internet, give me your tastiest, crunchiest headcanons about music in the time of Lancer and further back. How do the Ungratefuls let their cry of freedom be heard? What do demonic record companies churn out as corporate slop? What does a Karrakin noble listen to vs a common peasant? What did the first NHP Rock Star sound like? Any and all of it. I WILL use it for this character.
