Yes! That one! For me it's another reason to like the guy xD Reminds me of a cat behavior, tbh. If he didn't want to do something, he did not. When he wanted something, he got that. Like when Chuck was shot, he just refused to let him die.

You know, he probably could have been a real PAIN IN THE ASS sometimes, as a officer and a human being in general. I sometimes wonder how he behaved around officers who outranked him and how he took orders he thought were stupid.

I mean, it would be funny if the "Dick" was sometimes used as a short version of Richard, sometimes affectionately and sometimes as an insult. Probably didn't happen, but would work in a fic xD

Can see them all on ao3 or even on a discord arguing about the smallest thing like a herd of chickens over a worm.

But it's hilarious, because it would be like he used every godamned nice way to tell Dick to fuck off and nothing worked, so he used the Nixon card. And it didn't work anyway, because Dick was a dick (pejorative meaning).

I'm sure he was a handful. I'm sure so much of why nobody can answer things is because they took a 'I just don't want to know' stance. Winters had more than a few of the guys running to him tattling about things Speirs did that was unfair and Tab just left. According to his letter he never explained why he was evacuated and the medical records look like he used an old knee injury to go home rather than deal with Speirs. And 'Why you took Nixon and Welsh but not me and left me with Speirs. j/k but not really' was a little much. WHY did you leave him Dick?

Dick said Speirs could take orders but made bad personal decisions? I don't know if that was about murder, yelling at guys to dig up boulders, Matheson's Slutty Speirs comment, or how he 'was different with the men than with the officers'. Richard, THAT is what you wanted...right? That's why you were mad at Buck. But Sparky was out drinking and shooting with Carson. "A real human person" to Lipton who was very eloquent and that was such a weird phrase. AND Dick starts out pretty positive about Speirs but then swings to 'Murdery bastard' later on, but has to say they were 'really close' in that one interview and I don't think they were? Sure as hell weren't when he wouldn't leave him alone, he took the phone off the hook, went to Montana and then told him he was too deaf to hear phonecalls. (You remain a legend, Sparky.)

I can picture Ron throwing a letter to Dick in the mailbox, getting in his Buick and driving up to LA and arriving on Nix's doorstep with a bottle of Vat69, a tin of cookies and a photocopy of Dick's letter and just saying, "I'm being nice, but he's being a real dick. You handled him during the war, do it again now. He's about to get his package of Hershey's Kiss shoved up his ass."

Nix in a chair, not doing his physical therapy for his leg surgery, having been ordered to stop drinking for his many health issues watching the bottle like a hawk. "Sparky!!! Long time no see."

- "Epiphany" by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross for Soul

(To me, this particular piece just evokes so much the tenderness/kindness that Ominis prefers to keep hidden out of fear of being taken advantage of and really encapuslates just how it feels when he begins to open up to the MC and show his true self to them. Not to mention the hope his relationship with them would give him as it continues to grow and evolve, the desire it gives him to become kinder to, and even forgive, himself for the things that had happened to him in his youth-)

Natsai Onai

- "September" by Sparky Deathcap

(Immediately, this instrumental just evokes the adventurous/wondorous spirit that Natty has, as well as how profoundly her relationship with the MC affects them and the way they see the world. And how they in turn leave a deep and lasting impact on her as well. But, after Natty takes the crucio meant for them, they find that they have a chance to truly get to know one another better without all of the action around them being their primary focus. Only to find themselves inexplicably wrapped around the other's finger and finding everything about the other as captivating as the dangers they had faced together.)

- "Lucy Meets Mr. Tumnus" by Harry Gregson-Williams for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

(This piece never ceases to make me think of MC spending nights stargazing with Amit, seeking out astronomy tables together or going over old tomes on the observatory deck with hot cups of cocoa to warm their hands (courtesy of Deek-). Sometimes keeping to their studies, other times getting to know one another better. Once even trying and failing not to fall into a laughing fit when they stay out for so long that their robes had gotten frozen to the observation deck's railings. Amit in particular coming to realise that he's spending less time looking for the constellations in the sky, and spending more time looking for them in MC's eyes-)

Sebastian Sallow

- "The Ludlows" by James Horner for Legends of the Fall

(God, this piece. This piece really just captures the bittersweet tenderness of MC's relationship with Sebastian. How bright, how hopeful their very beginning together had been and how they grew to draw strength from and depend on one another in their times of need. How deeply they cared for one another before Sebastian's worries, his fears nearly took him to a place MC couldn't follow. With venomous words said and dangerous actions taken. But it also captures the relief of managing to come back together after everything is said and done. How MC could still see him as the boy they first came to know in the withdrawn and angry stranger he had become.)

Poppy Sweeting

- "Emma Suite" by Isobel Waller-Bridge and David Schweitzer for Emma

(This suite has a lot of unexpected qualities and hidden treats within it, something that perfectly fits Poppy and how she first approaches MC. And it definitely captures just how intrigued the MC is by Poppy as well and how drawn they are to/protective they are of her. Both in her endeavours to do right by the magical creatures around them and on a personal level. And is also quite fitting in how Poppy is initially singularly focused in doing her best to make amends for her past and family, but steadily comes to recognise just how important it is for her to have MC in her life and reaches out to show her own trust in them as well.)

Garreth Weasley

- "Obituary" by Alexandre Desplat for The French Dispatch

(The quirky and endearing nature of this piece is absolutely spot on for what the MC's relationship with Garreth would be like. Absolutely full of moments that make them want to rip their hair out, unbelievable fondness and enduring sweetness that just mellows everything out. Garreth is far from perfect and neither is MC but thats what makes it all the better when they come together to work on how to making this thing between them last.)

1. i've listened to a couple of mechs songs!! i need to listen to more. i've listened to half of UDAD and a couple miscellaneous songs (pump shanty, loki, our boy jack, lost in the cosmos etc.) also i love their designs so much they're so cool looking. especially ashes i love them

2. favourite album is for sure 1896 (closely followed by mk iii) it's so so good and full of absolute bangers. favourite song,,, i have so many but on a crescendo, i'll rust with you, the pulls, intertwined, on top of the universe (steamworld heist), latum alterum, transform, bad days on the horizon, the ballad of delilah morreo, the suspender man... etc. i will start listing the whole discography if no one stops me

3. RABBIT!!!!! she's so silly. would do anything for the bit. but her story and character are so incredibly tragic and ougjhhghgj i have so many thoughts about her. and her tendency to carry all the people she has ever cared about with her in her music. and the fact that she still feels guilty about the 1950 incident, which wasn't her fault in the slightest :( her ever-shifting design. AND HER SONGS. so many emotions. i think about rabbit a normal amount.

4. i have so many favourite photos. i have an entire folder on my laptop of every single rabbit design chronicled by date and show for drawing reference. JKHSDF i'll put some standouts from the many photos i have accumulated under the cut:

5. i kind of have a fanbot? but she doesn't really count i think sjkdhfs. when i first got into spg it was through honeybee (like literally everyone else). and i decided to for some reason read all of the lore before listening to any other songs. and i also decided to design honeybee as a robot rabbit might have fallen in love with (and subsequently broke up with). it turns out honeybee has a canonical design i think - if the cover art of honeybee is anything to go by. oh well. i still like this funky bee bot design. maybe i'll design an actual fanbot someday!

Pokémon Chronicles

Now recently, I was thinking about rewriting another part of the Pokémon anime; a small side show that barely got attention called…

Now I did like the idea of this series exploring how things were going outside of Ash’s journey, especially with Misty and Brock after they parted ways with Ash in the 273rd (and second to last) episode of the classic series. However, over time, I began to think that Pokemon Chronicles had opportunities that it unfortunately never touched upon.

Giving Misty’s big sisters; Daisy, Violet and Lily more to do and to under go a character arc similar to that of Lightning McQueen (in cars 1).

Giving Jimmy and Marina (from the three-parter Legend of Thunder) more to do.

Giving Richie and Sparky more to do and even heading to Hoenn.

Exploring Brendan Birch’s side of the story, with several ideas and moments being similar to those in the manga; Pokemon Adventures: Ruby and Sapphire.

Giving characters like Marius and Timmy Grimm AKA The Phantom of Verdanturf Town more to do.

Adding Wally from the games; Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire, into the anime.

Exploring Team Magma and Team Aqua and explaining the reasonings behind their respective moments.

I’ll explain these objectives in future posts as they have a lot to talk about each. So stay tuned.

Silly rambles, feel free to read or not. Just thought posting.

Saw a post from someone about SWSH and how it's a little funny coming back to those games and remembering how people complained about them, only for SV to release even worse.

It just brought up a thought for me. SWSH is like XY to me. And I mean this as in you will NEVER catch me whining about them or talking shit about them. Those games, despite their respective flaws, are both incredibly special to me for incredibly different reasons. I'll talk about both of them now because I want to.

XY were my first ever pokemon games. I got Y for my 8th birthday (or that christmas), if I remember correctly, and my sibling had X. I loved playing those games. They introduced me to Pokémon as a franchise entirely, and I still hold those games very dearly despite how everyone talks about how shit they are. I find them wonderful and a really fun trip down memory lane. I seriously hate seeing people so constantly and consistently hate on these games because of how important they are to me, but I get that not everyone feels the same way. These games mean nothing to most people, but everything to me. I wish the games got a little more love.

Sword and Shield, on the other hand, means a lot to me in a different way. Lets start with the innocent fun stuff. I'm going to be honest with you all right here and now; I love Leon. Almost everything about him I love. He's a silly and fun champion who just wants everyone to have a good time. Plus he has a Dragapult. Based. I also love Raihan and Hop. Raihan is just. S+, no notes. I can't explain why I love Hop, but I really just do. His whole arc of wanting to be exactly like Leon, then realizing that's not what he truthfully wants out of life and instead deciding to research pokemon to become a professor instead is just. Super appealing to me! He also probably just gets bonus points for being Leon's brother anyways seeing as how Raihan and Leon are tied for my favorite characters from SWSH lol. Also, all 3 of the starters are awesome. I love all 3 of them. Zamazenta and Zacian are also cool legendaries :) Spectrier too.

Now. On a more personal level. My dad started to play switch games with me and loved to watch me play during the pandemic. We played Animal Crossing New Horizons, Diablo III, Ace Attorney (Trilogy and Chronicles) and Pokémon Shield together. In Shield, he would do whatever he could to get me a pokemon I wanted, especially shinies. I have so many shiny pokemon just thanks to him trading almost all day for me. Most of them are hacked, yes, but I don't care. It was really just the thought that mattered to me. I have a shiny Porygon Z named Jitters that he went above and beyond just to get me. Unfortunately, in 2021 he passed away due to Covid. These Pokémon are. More important to me than ever. Because they were some of the last gifts he got me before he passed. Jitters specifically will always mean the world to me. And I will always name a shiny Grimmsnarl "Mr. Legs" based off a joke I had with my dad about its gigantamax form.

Damn. Now I want to hunt a shiny Scorbunny and name it "Sparky" (one of my dad's nicknames) since that was his chosen starter. I think I'll go start that now.

Fazbear Frights (The Fanfiction Chronicles): It Should've Been Me... (Ch.1)

Synopsis:

Spartak "Sparky" Winnings is trying to cope with the loss of his twin sister, Leena Winnings. The siblings had recently gotten jobs at their local Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where part of their job involved roaming in mascot outfits. Unfortunately, this location still utilized the "hybrid" outfit: a suit of spring locks that can be switched between human bodies and animatronic ones. How can Sparky live on knowing that if he didn't have Leena cover his shift, she wouldn't experience the infamous "springlock failure"? And how can he possibly move on, when she's not exactly gone?

[Chapter 1: She's gone... Right?]

"Sparky," a nickname for the young man named: "Spartak Winnings." A nickname specifically from his twin sister, Leena Winnings. Oh, his dear twin... She's why Sparky stands before the pizzeria, as the medical stretcher transports her covered body. Upon seeing it, the teen falls to his knees, deaf to the concerned responses in his direction, before slumping onto his stomach and face while completely shutting down. It was his fault... It. Was. HIS. Fault.

He heard the news, how Leena's suit had experienced something called a "springlock failure": when the spring coils within the hybrid suit unfurl, impaling the human body underneath it. One would think Fazbear Entertainment learned from their past mistakes and would get rid of the cursed suits, but it was far too convenient and cost-effective to have one type of suit on standby: less money spent by having less suits owned and made, which could be swapped between a wandering human's form and a performing animatronic's endoskeleton. Oh sure, they claimed they made them "safer," but was it worth even the slightest risk...? No, nothing could make Leena's death "worthwhile": not whatever lawsuit funds the Winnings family could obtain, not whatever fame and sympathy this would bring them-- nothing about this could bring Sparky any manner of gain. Well, it's not entirely true when there is something to "gain": eternal guilt.

Sparky couldn't speak in protest when his parents tried to explain it wasn't his doing, he couldn't blink when they lowered Leena's closed casket into the ground-- he couldn't do anything more than stare and whatever basic function was required, such as sitting or walking. He stares up at the living room ceiling, having to sleep (more or less) on the couch and away from the bedroom they still shared only a couple days prior. A new book... That's what cost him his sister: a stupid, new addition to a series he'd grown fond of. Now, he doesn't want anything to do with the franchise and would even burn his collection if he could muster the effort. Then again, burning the book he traded his sister for may be a giant glob of spit in her deceased face: making her death for entirely nothing, even if he could've waited to buy and read it... Why, why did he have to be so excited about it?

It took his mother tearfully begging to not lose her surviving child, but Sparky would eventually make an effort to care for himself again: cleaning, eating, but all for his concerned parents rather than personal interest. Hasn't this family already suffered enough because of him? After that, he'd need to return to school again. Fortunately, Sparky would be excused from homework and other projects not deemed as essential to his overall curriculum, only having to make up and focus on what his teachers deemed most important. However, he would've preferred being drowned in schoolwork and having his mind distracted from his current situation.

Whenever he wasn't inside his head and mulling things over, he'd notice everyone staring and whispering: their eyes are rich in pity or empathy regarding loss, while their voices expressed such tones or the shaming of Freddy's for letting such a thing happen. At the very least, Sparky could have satisfaction in knowing the place would likely lose enough business from the events and be forced to shut down. This wasn't a very big town, after all, so such a tragedy wouldn't be bounced back from easily. Sure, it wasn't good news for the employees who might've needed that job, but better unemployed than facing a similar fate and having their families mourn. Sparky would even see the closed building on a bus ride, soon enough.

"I know, let us work there!"

The words ring in his head, as he slams his forehead into the window. Of all the times he felt a need to counter his sister's typically concerning ideas, why couldn't he have sensed disaster then? Yes, not many would expect death from a job at someplace intended for family fun, but still...

"Yeah, why did you not think about that, Sparky...?"

The boy perks up and snaps his head around. He should've been alone; she definitely SHOULDN'T have been beside him...!! But she was: a girl of equal age, the same blue eyes and brown hair (though expectedly longer)... all within the bloodied suit that he imagined she appeared as, in her crushed state underneath that tarp. Freddy's form bled through every possible joint, Leena's dead and glazed eyes serving as his own blues, and springs coated in flesh and blood stuck out every side of the abdomen. Naturally, Sparky screams at the living corpse that suddenly appeared before him, pressing his back to the wall. It was a shriek that not only got everyone's attention, but forced the driver to suddenly stop. Many annoyed cars honked behind the large vehicle; but never mind them, the driver had a bigger concern on hand...

"Hey, what's going on back here...?" he approaches the seat, "You sound like you were being murdered!"

Sparky uncovers his shakey blues, thankfully seeing a normal and live face before him now.

"I... I want to walk home, please..."

It'd certainly be non-permissible if Sparky had been an elementary schooler or of such a young age, but as a highschooler and if such leg-stretching could help the victim of a recent tragedy... Sparky hurries down the bus steps and catches his breath, before the vehicle continues its travels. He looks back at the pizzeria, his mind racing over what just happened. Was Leena mad at him...? No, it couldn't have been her ghost or something else superstitious-- whether an actual spirit being unlikely, or Leena loving him too much to torment him like that. He must simply be going crazy, that's all. Well, even if it may not be much better... He should probably just continue his journey home, lest he causes his parents to worry about outliving BOTH offspring. Yet… It turns into a jog back home, when he sees Freddy's head lean out from the pizzeria's neighboring alleyway, dead eyes and all.

Nevermind survivor’s guilt, he may be facing something more after all.

A bit of a short chapter-- in fact, it'll be a rather short story overall since it's better NOT to force excessive content out of something that can work simpler. All you really need is some kid trying to cope through event after event and the more important aspects of it, and it'd be pretty depressing to linger too long on a young teenager crippled by guilt and grief... Isn't it sorrowful enough more than said "guilt and grief" COULD be haunting the boy?
