This morning, I asked the cards "What do I focus on today?" I drew The Page of Wands, the King of Pentacles and the Seven of Cups from This Might Hurt Tarot. What wonderful cards for today! 💫 The Page of Wands symbolizes the beginning of a spark. She is about to play something on her ukulele, about to create a song with those strings. She is joy and celebration and light and she shines with it. She glows with happiness, so intent on nurturing that spark and making it into a flame. She is about to strum a song, what song will she play? 💫 The King of Pentacles has it all. He's worked hard to get to where he is and has gotten there through hard work and a kind heart. Marie Kondo

In 2014 my sister, Cheryl, bought Marie Kondo’s book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.  She had good intentions of reading said book and decluttering the house.  Good intentions and roads to hell, right?  In 2017 she gave the book to me.  I’m OCD so it seemed like a good fit.  A better way to organize?  Terrific. Guess who never read the book?  It’s been in my TBR (to be read) pile for 2 years or so.  I’m organized to within an inch of my life.  I can’t function when things are messy.  I’ve managed just fine without reading her book.

Two days ago I saw an interview with two celebs who raved about Marie Kondo, her Netflix show, and how she’s changed their lives.  Then I see Facebook  posts about this darn woman.  What???  I immediately dug out the book and surfed to YouTube.  Sure enough there’s Marie, organizing like crazy.  Clip after clip of peoples belongings going bye-bye.  I wanted to cry.  Do I say goodbye to my things before I toss them?  Not really.  More of an it was nice while it lasted statement.  Do I only keep things that spark joy?  Lots of things spark joy for me.

I’ve decided to donate the book, decluttering my TBR pile, and forget all about Ms Kondo.  My shoes are in boxes, my purses are in linen bags, my clothes are arranged by color, my books are all over my Darlene cave and it’s just the way I like it.  Marie can have my joy sparked things when she can take them from me.  I’m taller and outweigh her so that’s not gonna happen.
