Latinas Murdered in East Harlem Rapist Sought
Excerpt from The East Harlem Murders by Daniel Golio
They received a 911 call around 10 a.m. about a body found in the trash compactor room of an 11-story building on 107 East 126th St. As they arrived at the scene, they were greeted by the frantic building manager who led them to the second floor, where the body was found.
It was a disturbing sight, the nude body of a teenage girl, bent over a garbage can. Her legs were spread wide with her long brown hair
twisted around her neck. Her green eyes wide open and the look of fear written all over her face. Her once vibrant body now cold and pale. . . .

East Harlem Murders
East Harlem Killer Gets Another 20 Years
You’re lucky to be getting raped by such a good looking man,” Marko Gomez. “Act like you love me.”
But he was was penitent and oddly cheerful as he was sentenced to another 20-year prison term for raping a 17-year-old girl in a Harlem basement — a decade-old attack in which the DNA caught up with him only this year.
The sentence hardly alters the future of Marko Gomez. It comes on top of the three life sentences he’s already serving after his conviction on eight sex attacks on young teenage East Harlem Hispanic girls — three of whom he murdered by stabbing or strangling.

Murder in East Harlem
Excerpt from The East Harlem Murders by: Daniel Golio
The victim, a young Latina in her early teens is found brutally raped and murdered on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in what is known as Spanish Harlem.
Her legs were spread wide and her breasts severed from her chest, she was savagely stabbed multiple times.
Her clothing was piled neatly by her naked body that the killer discarded like yesterday’s trash. And in her mouth, CSI found a sick and twisted poem.
It was a horrific bloody scene as the Latina teens’ breasts and panties could not be found.
Soon after, another Latina was found raped and brutally murdered on the upper Eastside of Harlem and it became clear to the authorities that a sexual predator was targeting Latina teens in the upper East Harlem area and a serial rapist and murderer was on the loose.

(AN: I know I said I was working on the part two for the fae fic, and a fashion designer piece, but the idea for this guy hit me like a train. Apologies for any Spanish mistakes, I'm coming along in my learning!)
The sound of raucous cheering rings out throughout the crowd of the 'Dog Pit' Den, Harlem's most prolific underground fighting spot. Fighters from all over the city come here to try and earn a living wage. Backbreaking, degrading work, boxing, kicking, and spitting in the no-rules ring. A crack, a cheer, and the sound of a collapsing body, before the announcer yells that Matias Lopez has taken yet another challenger down. A sweaty, tanned man hops back and forth on his feet, arms raised in the air as he celebrates his victory.
"Ladies and gentleman, Matias 'The Mayhem' has taken down yet another challenger! You know what that means! Make some noise!" The announcer yells, and the room shakes with boos and cheers, the stomping of feet making the ground tremble. "Matias Lopez has won the 500 dollar Rookie Fighters Championship prize!" Another round of yells, and Matias spits on the ground. He makes his way out of the cage, kissing the rosary his mother always makes him wear, even when he's cracking skulls in an illegal cage-fighting circuit. To be fair, she doesn't know. He sighs, tearing his fist-wrappings off and running a hand through his sweaty locks. He changes out of his outfit, switching into a casual gray hoodie, a pair of sweats, and some slides. After reapplying deodorant, he hears someone outside. One of the guys who runs the 'Dog Pit' has come to give him his check.
"Yo, Matias, my man!" He greets, slapping a hand on Matias's toned shoulder. "Me and some of the 'execs' as we've taken to calling ourselves are gonna hit the club', you in?" Mattias, clicks his tongue, and shakes his head. "Nah man, not tonight. I gotta get home n' see my girl. I was supposed to be home earlier." He glances down at the floor. "Shit, alright man, here's your check. I'll see you later." Mattias nods as the man heads out, stuffing the check into his duffle bag, before sliding out the alley exit.
Matias and you have been dating for a little over a year now. Both of you met in a pretty rough part of town, he was working a day-job at a gas station, and you were a cafe worker. He'd come in occasionally, claiming that the gas station coffee just wasn't up to his standards. He scared you, at first. Mattias has a very tough exterior, tattoos and muscles, but an even tougher interior. He was kind of stoic when you first met, and you couldn't quite get a read on him. He wasn't outwardly flirty or affectionate, which is why it took six weeks of him stopping by the coffee shop for him to pull you aside and ask what he was doing wrong, and why you weren't picking up on his advances. You had explained, and shortly after that you began dating. It was only a month or so into dating when you had learned of his cage-fighting career, but he assured you that he was tough, and no guy was gonna hurt him. You both needed the money on the side, so you reluctantly agree. That's what leads up to where you are now, passed out on your couch, waiting for him to come home.
He heads towards your shared apartment as quickly as he can, taking the subway about 8 blocks east, before running up the fire escape to the flat's balcony. He knows you deadbolted the door any time past 8:00, and doesn't blame you. It's kind of a dangerous neighborhood, and he feels bad enough leaving his girl home alone as much as he does.
"Pobre mami, espero que no me haya esperado." (Poor mami, hope she didn't wait up for me.) He pulls up the window, making sure to slip in quietly, in case you had already gone to sleep. As he places one foot on the floor, the wood barely creaks beneath him, when he hears a soft groan coming from the couch.
"Matty?" You mumble, sitting up from the plush couch and rubbing your eyes, trying to make out his large silhouette. He sighs, tossing his bag to the side as he stretches "Hey, hermosa, did I wake you up?" He asks, looking at you with his usual hooded gaze. "I guess, I don't think I was asleep that long..." You run a hand through your hair. "How'd it go?" He smiles softly, chuckling. "You know me, baby, I don't lose." He sits on the arm of the couch. "Gotchu' five hundred dollars, gonna' get you something real pretty with it." You sigh, and shake your head. "You've got me plenty of gifts, what we should be doing is saving up for somewhere else to live." You explain. He shrugs. "Yeah, you right, you right. That's my bad." He puts his hands up in surrender. "Well, if you aren't gonna let me get you somethin' pretty, you outta lemme' take ya to bed." Before you can react, he scoops you up in his arms, causing you to squeak.
"Don't scare me like that, God!" You smack his chest, but your hand only bounces off his firm pecs. e chuckles. "Gonna' have to hit harder than that, mami." He flicks off the living room light as he carries you to your shared bed. He lays you down, gently this time as opposed to the times he throws you on the bed, usually to pin you down and tickle you, saying things like '¿Qué pasa, bonita? Solo empújame, no es tan difícil...' (What's wrong, Pretty? Just push me off, it's not that hard...). Sometimes though, his manhandling isn't that innocent. As you snuggle down into the bed, Matias strips off his hoodie, and you blush at the way the light coming in through the blinds hits his chest. He lets out a soft groan, as the plush mattress and soft bed sheets soothe his sore body. Matias bites his lips as his eyes trace over your sleepy form, and he rolls over onto his side, tucking an arm around your waist.
"Mmm, no Matias... m' too tired tonight." You whisper, your face scrunching up. Matias was never a very soft guy. Playful and devilish, sure, but soft? No. His hands were calloused from years of bruising skin and bloodying faces, working and scrounging every penny he can get to get a better life for himself. Deep down, he couldn't imagine placing these damaged, dangerous hands on something as soft and sweet as you. He could snap you in half if he desired, and the thought terrifies him.
"What, no baby... I'm not tryna' smash at-" He looks over at the clock. "Shit, 1:00 am already? Jesus Christo..." He turns back to you. "Just wanna hold you, mami." He presses his long torso up against the curve of your back, pressing his face into your curls and inhaling your scent. "You feeling okay?" You ask. He knows he doesn't. He knows he should have been home for you sooner, and it didn't help that he had to make a stop on the way back home.
He feels a sense of dread in his stomach. You won't ever know about the stop he made, you were asleep. Besides, he comes home late all the time. What you will learn about is your bloodied new co-worker being found with his skull smashed in, just a few blocks from the cafe. Due to the graphic scene he left behind, it's sure to be on the morning news. Matias hadn't expected your new friend to be working the late shift, but he was still on an adrenaline high from the fight, and god... he couldn't stand the idea of that bitch getting to spend more time with you than him. He wants to be home for you more, he does, but he can't. Still, that doesn't mean he's going to let any other guy fill that void. Hell no.
"I'm fine, Hermosa. Just sore from the fight, wanna' hold my baby." He whispers, placing a chapped kiss on the shell of your ear, making you flinch. "That tickles..." You giggle. He smiles, and squeezes you gently. "C'mon, stop being silly. Necesitas descansar, especialmente después de quedarte despierto para mí." (You need to sleep, especially after staying up for me.) He scolds. You roll over to face him, and tuck your head into the crook of his neck. "Love you, Matty." You sleepily coo, before drifting off in his arms. He freezes, his breath labored for a minute as he looks down at you. Even now, after dating for so long, he can't process the softness of you juxtaposed with the beatings he both takes and gives every other weeknight. It's a transition he sometimes struggles to handle. He feels a smile creep onto his face, and he curls your small form into him, practically cradling you against his broad chest. God, he'll take on an extra five challengers next time, all for you.
"Gonna get you a penthouse baby, real nice neighborhood too. Somewhere safe, somewhere that makes me feel better about leavin' you all alone..." He whispers, knowing you can't really hear him. "Better not have anyone but me over, no fucker's from work, aight'? I'll kick the shit out of any of em' just for you..."

The East Harlem Serial Rapist and Murderer is still at large. This excerpt from "The East Harlem Murders" by Daniel Golio describes the brutality of the crime.
Excerpt from The East Harlem Murders by Daniel Golio
An autopsy of her lungs revealed she was breathing when the match was struck. She was burnt alive. It also revealed that she was savagely beaten. Her skull had hairline cracks; both breasts were brutally cut from her body with some type of butcher knife that cut all the way down to her breastplate. The spreading of her legs and the fact that her panties were missing indicated that she was raped . . . .

Carla Dominguez (OC ) "CSI: Miami" Headcanons
Born February 5, 1957 in Harlem NYC
She is Dominican and Black
Her mother is balck and her father is Dominican.
Her family comes from both the US and Dominican Republic were once slaves, but gained freedom in the 1830s and made a life in the USA.
Her grandfather started a jazz club at the height go the Harlem Renaissance and Passed it down to her father and eventually her.
Horatio and Carla meta at 4 years old at the same pre-school and became instant best friends.
She is the extroverted of the two, New York aggressive (iykyk) but very nice and sweet.
He learned Spanish from her but never picked up on the language. he understood it over time but couldn't speak it. He couldn't roll his R's.
Hasn’t been in many fights but can hold her own.
She taught him how to dance and he even got exposed to latin music through her. Her parents owned a jazz club in Harlem and he and his friends would spend some nights or weekend there dancing at her house or dancing out in front of the club learning how to dance.
Carla became so much more than a friend but became family and they considered him as a son. for him and they gave him so much more valuable than he can ever repay: gave him love, kindness, fun, laughter and good food of course and how to party, but more importantly how a family should be.
She never knew he was being abused until one day , Her father got him a bike at 10 years old and he rode it home, his father was off that day and all she knew is an hr and a half later a a loud bang o n the door she was in the living room with her cousins watching tv and as her father opened the door there was this large red head short haired man , Horatio In the hands of his towering father, as big as their door, Barked at her father about the bike short and quick and threw it, literally threw it on the stoop and drug him back where they came. she was in shock not only as that her first time seeing him but the sheer anger and seeing Horatio in that state, she just clicked it all together.
After that event , her father decided to just keep future presents for Horatio at his house form that point on, they had an extra room usually sued as play room for her cousin but they dubbed it Horatio bedroom and they had parties as
The next time she saw him,He profusely apologized fearful of losing her as a friend , his face red and with tears trying to explain. she never blamed him or was upset. But It was like word vomit for him , he was like that for weeks until she had to tell him to stop. They never spoke about it again.
Carla had chosen to have a Quince over a sweet 16 and Horatio helped her plan and even came up with the color scheme: pink and brown . he regrets util this day lol but at the time it seems like a good idea. He was in a brown with pink vest in the vest toe and Carla in two gowns , one for church and another for the party after which was a pink prairie dress style gown less tules and fluffier so she can dance with a few brown accents and a Tiara. but they had a good time.
3 months later tragedy struck her best friend when his arrests died , allegedly murdered, by Horatio. Something she never believed even after the charges were pressed. All he members her telling is that his father and mother were at it again , and he was in the house and hearing the argument and watching them and seeing his mother hit the floor and then , next thing he woke up in the hospital covered in cuts and bruises and his head hurting. No memory in between.
Her family became legal guardians to Horatio and his brother a year later, it was a long hard fight with the state but they it finally happened. Horatio initially tried to refuse but they isisted plus he didn't want his brother separated from him.
She stuck with hm through it all, even though he still had nightmares and wetted the bed still, had to deal with prying eyes for the rest of high school, she was still there.
She got married on May 3rd 1974 to a tall handsome mocha skin colored black man named David Rayes a tax consultant, who was tall handsome.
She wanted to make Horatio her maid if honor but he vehemently said no, plus he would not have had time as an officer, so she got someone else.
Carla had to be convince several times by him not to fight his ex gf that was getting physical with him.
Carla ended u having 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. one if her daughters Kelly, enned up later on pursuing music as a singer and plays several instruments including percussion , piano and guitar.
when Horatio moved to Miami ,she was sad to see him go but she didnt fight him when he left, he looked so emotionally worn out she was the one to get him a Spanish learning audio set and headphones because she knew he would NEED it in Miami.
They had a hard time keeping in touch over the years, more Horatio part than hers but he checked
In every now and then but his life has been a series of uos and downs since then
When he finally got out on trial for his Mirder charge, she testified on his behalf

Serial killer in East Harlem
Excerpt from: The East Harlem Murders by: Daniel Golio
The garbage room was cold, the concrete floor dirty with scattered pieces of garbage thrown about. On a mattress on the grey concrete floor littered with broken garbage bags and empty tequila bottles lay the naked body of Angela Lopez and kneeling next to Angela was Marko Gomez, who meticulously arranged the young girl's clothing into a neat pile.
As he did he paused to sniff Angela’s panties and savor the scent of her crotch, then tucking them into the pocket of his jeans he stood, turning to look at the frighted naked girl at his feet.
The girl's eyes are red from crying, with tears flowing from her large brown eyes, her body shaking in fear as if she knew the fate that was to befall her.
Marko unbuckles his belt and as his jeans drop to the floor he pulls his briefs down and bends down to spread the girls' legs apart. He reaches out to fondle her 32B tits and begins to suckle her nipples as he reaches out to touch her, feeling the delicate skin of her inner thigh.
Angela now trembling her whole body shaking with fear pleads with Marko not to rape her starts to scream and yell for help.
Marko position himself between her legs, his erect penis brushing against her vagina. He begins slapping her in the face with the back of his hand and telling her to shut the fuck up as he steadies himself, and then thrusts forward, feeling the tight heat of her body engulf him.

She lets out a sharp gasp, her eyes flying open in surprise, but the moment is fleeting as she quickly sinks back into a daze. He begins to move, slowly at first, but gaining speed and force with each passing moment. Her body trying to break away as he drives his penis deeper and deeper into her. She screams as loud as she can hoping that someone will hear her but she is in the basement of the building with no one around to save her .

Marguerite Annie Johnson was born in St Louis, Missouri in 1928. When she was 8 years old, her mother's boyfriend sexually abused her. He ended up spending only one night in jail, but was murdered four days later, most likely by one of Johnson's uncles.
For the next 5 years, Johnson became a mute. "I thought, my voice killed him; I killed that man, because I told his name. And then I thought I would never speak again, because my voice would kill anyone."
A teacher and family friend by the name of Mrs. Bertha Flowers was the one who started to help her speak again by introducing her to books written by literary heavyweights such as Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe.
The family soon moved to Oakland, California and at the age of 16, Johnson became the first first black female cable car conductor in San Francisco. She described it as her "dream job." However, in her 20s, she pivoted careers and began studying modern dance, eventually performing professionally in nightclubs around San Francisco in the early 1950s. It was during this time that Johnson decided to change her name to Maya Angelou in order to set her apart from other dancers.
From 1954 to 1955, Angelou toured Europe performing in an Opera production and made it a point to learn the languages of all the countries she visited. She became fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, and Fanti.
In 1959, she met writer John Oliver Killens who encouraged her to move to New York City, where she joined the Harlem Writers Guild and launched her writing career, becoming an important voice for women and the black community.
In her 1969 autobiography, "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings," Angelou writes, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
