Space School is officially on a small hiatus until August! This is only for public updates, and not for Patrons. The purpose of the hiatus is to get used to my new process, and to get folks a little more ahead of public updates to give them more bang for their buck.

In the meantime, I'll be sharing some older art I still like (that I suspect a lot of you haven't seen, because I realize there's not really any good archive of old art that people are actually checking) and just going wow, can't believe we're at Chapter 11! FINALLY!

LGBT PEOPLE'S SUPER SPACE POWERS

Is... Is the post before the last one suggesting that if you are gay you can breathe in space?

Have they only send straight astronauts into space because they want to conceal this secret? Like do you have to put 'straight' on your resume to get into spaceschool????

Homophobia in the spaceforce isn't cause of assholes, its to protect a secret.

They are very strict. All people have a test where they are shown pictures of people of the same sex with a pulse meter attached to them. Liam hemsworth is in there for the dudes just so you know. Everyone who's heart rate get higher is kicked out. Therefor, no enimies of hemsworth or fans of his rolls or his brothers are in the spaceforce aswell.

In the contrary, the lesbian forces are slain by a newly added picture of brie Larson. Which also means there are no sexist men in the crowd as those shall be enraged at the showing of a picture of the female superhero that could beat them up.

For that reason alone, Carol is one of the only woman pictures shown to men.

Bi and pan people are very common in the airforce, as their heart rate is higher for both sides. This part of the lgbtq community can not breathe in space though, their ability is the strange gift of communicating with outwordly spicies. At least that is what people speculate about as we are yet to discover another spicies.

So, while the people who have a diffrent sexuality have an advantage in space (the other sexualities have yet to be discovered powers, except for ace and aro people who have the ability to walk on planets with lower or higher gravity rates as if it were earth) the people who identify as a gender other then the one they were assigned at birth, have an advantage on other instances.

Transmasculine/ ftm people have the rare and strange gift of being able to point out the planets where plant life exists or that could be suitable for human inhabitants. After discovering this fact nearly a year ago , a full team of only transmen was hired and are currently looking for planets that earth's inhabitants could make their new home.

Transfemine/mtf people have the ability to eat and drink any form of undiscovered plant or liquid which others are not capable of eating as it is poisonous. This makes for a big part of the people actually going to other planets in the near future to be transwomen, an elite force of only mtf astronauts is currently being trained to be at the top of their game, would we discover a new planet.

Then there's the whole spectrum of none binary/gender neutral people. Though they do go by a lot of pronoun, they all share the same trait of being immune to the extreme weather's that some planets have. The spacesuits of every astronaut are being made to withstand immense heat, but few can actually survive the boiling heat or freezing cold that makes it so hard for us to learn more about other planets around us. This is where these people jump into action.

Though I am sad to say that there isn't a lot of gender neutral people in the spaceforce, as most are afraid they will fail the entry test.

The gender fluid and bigender people have an advantage that is yet to be discovered as they are with few. Though a recent study shows signs of being able to both breathe in space and underwater when the water has a lower oxogen level then is usually holds in the areas where we normally go for a swim. While this seems similar to the gift that gay and lesbian people have received, the gender fluids don't have to breathe at all to survive in these situations while the gays have what appears

To be a small bubble like force around their mouths which recicles the air they are using. Which would explain why it has always been described as warmer then the usual cold wif of oxigen.

“It’s very odd I don’t remember one thing about that first conversation we had. The moment plays in my head on repeat. I can see it all clearly almost 3 years prior to the exact day but why does it play on mute? I may not remember what we talked about but I remember how it felt and what I was thinking in the moment. Those first moments with her I tried to absorb every drop of her like I’d found the oasis, a charisma that intrigued me like nothing I’d ever experienced in this lifetime. Her presence absolved me. I found myself in the most crucial pursuit of my life. Instead of leaving me out of breath and aching chasing such desires for my own pleasure as my very recently abandoned dogma would react to such an admirable asset. With these few simple moments in such a short span of time now knowing Alyvia, my whole world became inverted. Now that I’m thinking about that first night I may not be able to remember words said because maybe, just maybe that day I became no more. It wasn’t just my world & my life from this point forward. I’d never truthfully been able to love anything more than myself or my own selfish wants and needs before anyone else’s, it wasn’t even a question. Only my happiness mattered and everything and everyone else’s would just fall in line behind. With no question I wouldn’t mind putting anything else in the path of despair or turmoil as long as I profited or it brought me joy. I realized that was no life at all! I was living in blind oblivious fear telling myself I was brave, wearing my confidence like my fake jewelry, constantly in denial While unfulfilled. Trying to prove to the world why my life is better than the rest when it’s just a struggle to find a good excuse everyday to why Im still alive and not wasting someone else’s air who is so much more deserving of it than I am because a life with no love is no life at all.

As everyday that passed by before her I became to understand that growing older doesn’t always add beauty to one’s life. Personally as the days passed the hope weakened. Love was becoming a mere myth to me, a made up story. I was slowly being let down of everything I believed in, first Santa Claus and now there’s this seeping feeling in my heart that I’m searching for the unobtainable. Chasing the fucking wind. Here’s a metaphor of love I was ready for spaceschool and they give me a kite to fly, such an unreliable source of elevation. I’ve been craving to soar reliably my whole existence. I’m a dove born with a clipped wing in awe of the sky yet the earth clings to me reminding me of the place I’ll reside. I just wish I could fly, get away from this fire forever and believe death is just a lie for at least until winter time what happens when my burning desire makes me feel nothing but tired inside?

Where is my light?

I only seem to find darkness

I’m just barely getting by

Feeling my way through Tartarus

Love has only made me blind

To earn to feel the right

You must become a martyr

Because to believe in love is to die alive.

Their journey together had been somewhat brief-- meeting in town, agreeing to leave together…

Meeting the witch of the forest, the witch of the air, fighting off deadly creatures, and discovering more about each other...but, that whole time, the cursed witch had lied to the scared witch.

He didn’t know his way thru the forest, he didn’t know their destination, he didn’t know anything-- he couldn’t preform any real magic or show off any real skill…

The abilities he boasted were all side affects from his curse; he admitted that now...and yet…

The scared witch held him by the shoulders and forgave him.

From the start he had known; he had seen thru the lies and known the fragile persona in front of him. He knew what secrets looked like, he knew what lies sounded like-- he knew it all...and yet…

He had stayed with the cursed witches side. He had traveled with him, ate with him, laughed with him…

“Let’s keep going, we can make it.” He urged. “Together, we can make it.”

Thru tears, the cursed witch thanked him. Over and over. He had never been shown such kindness before.

The scared witch laughed then, “Thank me when we’re safe on the other side of this forsaken maze.”

Pulling himself together, the cursed witch could only utter; “...it’s a promise!”

Happy Halloween everyone!

I really wanted to re-visit the witch designs for the boys basically all year-- so I finally did it!!! I also figured a short ‘lil story to give you an idea of the world would be nice-- so I hope you enjoy!

That’s right! It’s time to start getting ready for Space School’s 4th annual 12 DAYS OF GUESTMAS!

It’s that time of year again! Time to start getting ready for this year’s Spacemas!

BASIC INFO:

I need to fill about 10 guest comic slots.

Comics should be 1 single page. (2 pages can be negotiated!)

Comics should be in full color.

Comics need to be X-mas/Winter themed!

I’m accepting illustrations this year as well– but they must have a clear narrative or dialogue! (Comics are obviously preferred.)

Tone can be humorous, serious, anything like that. As long as it’s Space School and X-mas/Winter themed all at once.

DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 13TH FOR ALL FINISHED ART!

HOW TO APPLY:

DON’T send me any completed art– instead just send your idea/pitch for what you’d like to do for said comic.

And of course, Day 12 of Guestmas will feature this year’s Spacemas picture by myself!

I would love to see some of these past outfits re-created in any comics but new ones or just general winter themed outfits are fine too. Zeggy should most always be Santa though, unless joke calls for otherwise.

SPACE SCHOOL AND THE HOLIDAYS:

Because Winter-time has always been a time of hoilday-stuffs for lots of places and planets (especially those who were colonized by Earth or Nubia) Space School most often gives the whole school the entire month of December off from school-life.

All holidays are accepted to celebrated within the walls as long as everyone is being respectful of each other– as with most things in Space School. The School decorates mostly with lights and tries to stay away from leaning one way or the other. Students are allowed to decorate inside their dorms as they please, obviously.

Most students leave home to their respective planets for the holidays but some students and teachers stay at the school thru the whole month– sometimes celebrating together!

It’s an exciting and peaceful time for everyone~

Alkaline, Zeggy, and Toggy usually go home for the holidays (sometimes together) and Joe stays at the school. Sometimes Joe joins Toggy, Terrago, and Omnivera at their homes.

Dude, Maleena, and Vava either see their separate families alone or all stay together in their home near the school.

Dennis and Booker spend the holiday cooped up alone at Booker’s apartment avoiding everyone but each other.

ZEGGY AND HIS PLANET’S CULTURE:

Zeggy is canonically the most all about Christmas out of the whole group.

X-mas was an adopted holiday by Ollce when Earth colonized the planet and as such, it resembles Christmas as we known it with some key differences.

As far as the tree goes, it starts out as a sculpted pile of dirt resembling a tree or other X-mas object that is watered thru the month with various glowing mushrooms and other fun alien-glowy-bits appearing as it’s watered– so by the time Christmas rolls around the tree will have grown it’s own ornaments to light up the room!

You buy bags of seed/spores each year for the tree, these bags make great gifts and are often put in stockings!!!

Otherwise, a lot of the traditions are the same with either having different looking aesthetics. They do stockings, presents under the tree, and Santa– who instead of having a sleigh– instead rides a single giant mole (which is a creature from purple planet, I can provide reference for) and is of course, purple himself. He rides this mole– who is named Rudolf, around all the underground cities of Ollce delivering presents to all the kids.

Zeggy gets into the holiday spirit way too early and way too fast. He decorates his whole dorm room as well as wearing as much X-mas accessories as he’s allowed over his school uniform.

He’s the type of person to put everything non-Christmas away and replace it with Christmas themed things.

He absolutely spoils Alkaline with tons and tons and way too many gifts– all of which are extremely personalized.

Otherwise, he only buys presents for his parents/grandparents, Joe, Toggy, and gives cards to his teachers. Most of his efforts go towards Alkaline.

He eats a billion food, sings a billion songs, and is fucking obnoxious. It’s beautiful.

ALKALINE AND HIS TRADITIONS:

Alkaline likes Christmas just as much as everyone else and is definitely not as hype as Zeggy because who could match Zeggy’s energy, honestly. But, he definitely gets into the spirits! Enjoys the food, drink, songs, presents– etc.

Christmas on Earth is very similar to what we think of it now which some differences– many of which haven’t totally been decided upon so feel free to have some fun interpretations.

Christmas has most definitely become a non-religious holiday in most all senses on Earth. It’s more just about the aesthetics and being with family members, buying fits, eating food, etc.

Alkaline is either with Zeggy in his home on Ollce or has Zeggy over on Earth. He stays with his Mom and Sister, visiting extended family on Christmas Day for dinner.

Alkaline buys everyone he knows presents– even if it’s just something small!

I usually draw Alkaline as a reindeer because Alkaline with antlers is super cute.

JOE’S ‘CHRISTMAS’:

Christmas isn’t celebrated where Joe is from– they have other traditions. However; Christmas Day is actually Joe’s birthday– which he usually chooses to spend alone or with Dennis or Lorna (his girlfriend)– depending on the age.

As such, Joe doesn’t care too much about Christmas and see’s it more of just as “his birthday” but starts to appreciate the holiday more when Zeggy’s festive spirit invades him. And, he likes the presents.

I’m sure Zeggy and Joe have some special X-mas moments together with Zeggy trying to show Joe all about “The Christmas Spirit”!

TOGGY’S TRADITIONS:

On Nubia, they don’t really have a Christmas but rather a big celebration of a New Year like holiday where they begin the new calendar year.  Like Christmas, it’s a time to celebrate with family and loved ones.  

Typically people travel long distances to spend the two days reunited with family, and everything shuts down.  The most important part of the festivities is to tell stories about the year–letting out stress or frustration while also reliving good moments and bonding with family members.  

This is always accompanied by large amounts of alcoholic beverages, which are enjoyed by all ages.  

Oftentimes everyone gets really smashed the first day and then sleeps it off the next.   Food varies from region to region but typically includes mostly unprocessed foods such as berries and vegetables, or dried lizard or fish jerky. As the festivities mark the beginning of the new year, many Nubians will dye their hair to a different color or get a new piercing around this time. Presents aren’t really a thing on Nubia, though it is common for parents and grandparents to give their children small sums of money to encourage them to have new adventures in the new year.  

Toggy’s family is a bit more accustomed to Earth traditions though, and so he tries to buy his close friends gifts for “Christ-mass” but they are always strange and often food.

DUDE, MALEENA, VAVA:

The 3’s traditions are similar to Alkaline’s since they’re all from Earth– so not much to say there.

Dude spends a lot of time in an apron baking cookies, cakes, etc as presents for everyone he knows and Vava and Maleena definitely gain some weight this time of year.

They all get drunk a lot and laugh a lot and just have a good time together BEING A LIL FAMILY.

Dude always makes sure to exchange presents with students he’s helped thru the year; since he often takes troubled students under his wing.

DENNIS AND BOOKER:

Booker nicely decorates his apartment and spends a lot of time with Dennis on the couch eating food and talking. They frick a lot too.

It’s chill.

OMNIVERA AND TERRAGO:

As the resident “gays into roleplays”, Omnivera and Terrago do a lot of dressing up for X-mas.

There’s a lot of time Terrago will be with Toggy’s family with them-- and so I’m sure Omnivera is there sometimes as well. In a billion, expensive outfits.

The two of them absolutely spoil each other and nobody else in presents-- except for Toggy who they buy something for-- OF COURSE.

NOTE ABOUT REX: Due to some wild stuff happening with the creator of Rex, Rex will no longer be appearing in Space School and therefore should not be appearing in any Guest Comics! Sorry!
