Simon Riley is Sandor Clegane aligned and I take no criticisms. Rude, crass soldier that fights for the crown because they pay him the best. An awful brute of a man that walks around with the disarming illustration of a skull on his helmet and snorts at the way it makes the soft womenfolk of the court skitter whenever he barges down a hallway.

Simon Riley who wants to dash your head against the walls of the keep whenever you forget to hold your tongue and find yourself being backhanded by some Lord or other; grumbles when he ‘has’ to pull his dirtied handkerchief out to wipe away the blood dripping down your nose and eventually tells you just to keep it, because you’ll only wind up in need of it once again sometime soon (it’s not a favour, it’s not a gift. It’s a way to make his life easier so that he doesn’t have to attend to you).

Not-quite-Knight Simon Riley taking it upon himself to guard the door to the room you and the some other nobles of the court are being holed up in whilst a battle is waged outside. You offer him wine, just to spy a slip of the disfigurement of his face when he lifts his visor to drink. He hears you tell your circle that you’re cold, ill-dressed in your nightclothes as you are, and wordlessly drops his cloak over your head. Finds himself smiling when you splutter at the weight of it, but pull it around yourself all the same.

Simon Riley who eagerly reminds the crueller Lord’s of the court that he’s sworn to the crown and the crown alone- he’s not obligated to refrain from removing their heads when they take their mistreatment of you a step too far. And when he finally does have good enough reason to, he can only force himself to ignore the twisting guilt that simmers in his gut as he gives himself the right to wipe the spray of blood from your face and apologise for losing his temper and traumatising you so terribly
