Every AF attack I'm like "surely THIS will be the most complicated one I do. I need to chill." And then I simply try harder and dig into some weird experimental shit.

Fun fact: I actually had to put a filter on this while coloring/rendering to lessen the eyestrain. This is the highest saturation piece I've done... ever. Kinda obsessed with it.

I don’t typically share dreams, since that often gets really silly (and at best they just pinpoint something I’ve got anxiously lingering in the back of my mind), but this one was amusing looking back on after awakening.

So, you know the trope of “space madness” when sci-fi has horror or horror-adjacency? Think Event Horizon (people go mad from the ship’s exposure to a hellish dimension of chaos) or Dead Space (the Markers intentionally turn people violently out of their mind to start making corpses they can reanimate). You likely have seen it dozens of times if you have interests similar to mine. A good writer is using this as a theme for just how truly dangerous SPACE is; it’s not just the obvious physical dangers, but even your MIND, the truest expression of who you are, is not safe to exist intact (yes, I am enough of a philosophical materialist to know that “the mind” is also just an expression of physical interactions within the brain, but we humans like to consider our think-spaces special and distinct and some writers tend to treat these threats more metaphysically than they scientifically need to).

Anyway, my dream involved a space crew suffering SPACE MAAAAAADNESS, slowly turning on each other and turning violent and all the clichés associated, until there were just two cosurviving, with the underlying current of uncertainty. Will this equilibrium last? Will one of them turn on the other? Are they like this forever now?

Should be stressful, right? Well, there was one element that made things absolutely not that. You see, these spacedudes were experiencing all of this in a completely mundane urban apartment. No space, no sci-fi hallways, no future tech, nuthin’. They were wearing some degree of sci-fi-ish suits, so I assure you, they were spacefellers. They were giving into violent mental discontent in the face of a small-but-bigger-than-many-people-have modern apartment. The last two guys were having a meltdown because the laundry machine had A NEW KNOB THAT WASN’T THERE BEFORE OH GOD and they could reach out and physically feel it but they knew it wasn’t supposed to be there, which would be scary if it were, like, flesh on the walls or the protagonist’s pre-fridged late wife or whatever, but it was a dial on the washer. Wildly surreal, definitely no longer scary.

I’m sure there’s a metaphor in here about society or something, and this whole thing probably says a lot about BaneShake’s Charlie, ngl.

Todays sketch. Some random space dude. The texture in this sketchbook kinda sucks. Well not kinda it does suck. Pen brush gets grainy and rough when using it, microns bleed a lot on the paper, lines just aren’t clean or smooth with this sketchbook.
