i was going to draw spacerap originally because its another personal favorite but spacedolls holds a special place in my heart, mostly because they remind me of me and my girlfriend

"will you tell me about solaria?"

ricky's head snapped towards the voice, seeing jane peer over his body with her dark, unblinking eyes. in a strange way it was cute, like she had too much fascination to remember to blink. although he knew it was because she had the head of a doll, it couldn't blink naturally.

he hesitated for a moment, a bit surprised by her sudden curiosity about the vast realm that resided within the fortitude of his mind. would she think he is strange? but maybe she wouldn't, she was objectively stranger.

"well, what do you want to know?" ricky replied, his voice slightly scratchy from having not been used in years. it was....weird being able to talk after a lifetime of being silenced. he could finally be heard, and seen, he was no longer part of the background.

"why are the solarian people fighting the dog aliens?" she asked curiosily, tilting her head to the side and staring at him. she was so genuine, a heart without taint, a building without ruin. perhaps it was troubling to be unknown even to herself, but to ricky it could be a fresh slate. jane could be whatever she wanted, she was entirely free of biases and preconceived notions.

"well dogs and cats often don't get along so i imagined it would work the same way, even with alien species." he explained, his hands moving around as he described the world created from his synapses.

he painted vivid imagery, words coaxing the ideas into jane's brain so she would understand the world ricky sculpted. and she sat there, listening carefully to his every word as though he spoke of things with only to utmost importance. it was unnerving for ricky to be percieved so fully, but endearing all the same.

she occasionally asked questions, showing that she was truly paying attention. she seemed so invested, ricky's heart almost catapulted out his chest as she watched him. he really liked jane, he liked her now and he was certain he would like her once they learn her name.

there was something else better than his imagination, something to make him want to live outside of his mind. her.

RTC FANDOM WE NEED TO TALK

So get this. In the musical ride the cyclone, the representation of physical disability in Ricky Potts character was already pretty horrible. Because he loses it as soon as he enters the afterlife even though it’s such a vital part of his character. And it’s literally just for the ease of making him “better” to choreograph with. To this day, there has only been one person who is disabled in real life that has played this character, and they were treated horribly, not at all accommodated, not even told the character was written to have a disability, to the point where they were physically ill on set. They were then fired for being too disabled. To this day, the theatre blocks any attempts to speak out about the incident and refuses to even admit that it happened. The actor has received absolutely no compensation. Well now the official writers of the show have consented to the disability being removed entirely. Erased. Gone. What little representation was there was garbage anyway, but when I tell you I wouldn’t hesitate to deck the people responsible for this. OH and by the way, anyone who does the show now has to use that version of the script
