Project brief - The land for this project is gently contoured rising up 9M towards the south with the entry at the lowest level in the north. Located in the wine growing region of India, the north faces a large river and a dam with hills beyond. The southern side rises up into hills in close proximity to the site. . The client’s requirements included a large banquet hall of 15000 sq ft in addition to 60 rooms and other facilities. Since the banquet hall would have large gatherings its access is planned directly from the road frontage at the lowest level of the site. The public facilities including the hotel lobby, restaurant, bar, spa & business centre occupy a higher level 6 metres above the banquet hall entered directly from an ascending approach road. . The rooms at the higher level are oriented to face the river in the north or the immediate hills in the south with open circulation spaces & naturally ventilated & skylit courtyards. Each level of the hotel is integrated with the natural contours of the site, minimizing land cutting & landfill. No soil was taken out of the site or brought into the site while constructing, making the construction both economical and sustainable. Over fifty percent of the walls are built with natural black basalt stone available in close proximity of the site. “Igatpuri” a wonderful place to visit

The best kind of trips is those where you can just travel without much of the planning. Igatpuri is one of such locations that fulfil this requirement. If you are bored with your daily routine, then I would suggest you plan a trip to Igatpuri which will be one of the best places to travel for some stress-busting experience. This place is located just ahead of Kasara valleys dusted with clouds, is a perfect escape from the city life which is near the city. The explicit greenery of the Igartpuri region will sweep you off. I have personally travelled to Igatpuri on my trek to the Tringalwadi fort. I do not need to think again to say that it was one of the craziest experiences of my life. I always would love to travel to a place with a whole lot of adventure. Places like Igatpuri take you to nature’s arms, the smell of the farm, singing birds, view of the mountains, and little streams of water are amazing. But it’s a sad thing that most of the people don’t know much about Igatpuri. If you ask any Puneker or Mumbaikar about Matheran, Lonavala or Khandala they will have a list of things to tell you about these wonderful hill stations. But if you ask them about Igatpuri, you will find some confused faces, few happy faces and many won’t even be familiar with this name. Igatpuri, unlike other hill stations, gives you a tour of Maharashtra like you have never seen before. My first experience at Igatpuri was mesmerising as I could see the thick quote of lush greenery and the fresh smell of the mud took me back into my childhood memories. This exquisite piece of land comes alive during the monsoon.

Places we visitedThere are plenty of destinations near Igatpuri for an extended trip on a long weekend. Igatpuri offers a spectacular view of dense forests and beautiful waterfall just like I love it. People who would love to cleanse your mind and enjoy a bit of non-connectivity with the world, head straight to Igatpuri. Vipassana academy truly is a special kind of experience. Igatpuri is surroundedby the highest peaks of Sahyadris that is the Western Ghats. It is just a drive away and is home to some amazing holiday homes at Igatpuri Nashik and the most famous Sky Water Villas, where you can rent Bungalows for one day. I arrived here at the Sky Water Villas in the morning before sunrise and saw women going around for fetching water. It was quite cold in the morning that means the weather was amazing for me as I was so happy.

How Do You Get There?

If you are travelling from Mumbai and have your private or commercial vehicle, you must carry on the Nashik highway till you find the detour to Igatpuri on the way. It will take you a close to 2 and a half hours to reach the main municipal town.

If you wish to be more adventurous and need to take in all the picturesque scenes from the railway lines, you can hop onto the Central Railway from Mumbai and take the Howrah Mail or Devagiri Express from Dadar, Thane, or Kalyan Junction stations. Make sure to book confirmed seats if you wish to take a seat during the 3 hours of the local railway journey.

Once you get off the Igatpuri station, you must be prepared for a whole new roller-coaster ride. The auto rickshaw, which doesn’t run on meters, can take you to specific places around the town. We will have a look at the nature-bound attraction in a while. S.T. Buses from near the station and can also take you to intended local locations.

If you are travelling from Pune and prefer taking the road to reach Igatpuri from Pune, check the taxi guide here. It will cost you INR 5 per kilometre, depending on the choice of your car. The toll tax should be paid separately by you. Igatpuri is about 228 kilometres from Pune. Easy access by train as well as the road makes it a cheap destination to travel to even when you’re broke. Once you reach Igatpuri station, you can hire an auto or book a vehicle, but be ready to bargain.

My suggestions depend on my own stay and the reviews I have received from friends prior to my weekend trips. The moment you enter the resort you will be welcomed with a huge lobby area and reception, designed neatly to instantly make one feel comfortable.

The resort is spread in an L shape 1 story structure has a huge Lawn area, swimming pool, gymnasium, a lot of indoor and outdoor games and banquet facility. Spa is also available on pre reservation basis.

All the rooms have the centrally located swimming pool view, which is spread in a large space which appeals you to dive in and chill. The rooms are spacious with balcony area attached to each of the rooms with a small coffee table and chairs. All the rooms are centrally air-conditioned, with a lot of natural light seeping in and good lighting, there is a huge wardrobe with safe deposit locker, small refrigerator, Led TV, Electric kettle for tea & coffee. The bed is huge and comfortable ensuring a good night’s sleep with everything spick and span. The bathroom is provided with all basic amenities and good brand of toiletries.

The moment we reached the hotel we changed and jumped into the swimming pool and stayed there till the sunset. The pool area is equipped with pool loungers and shaded pool beds. Apart from the swimming pool there are various activities that you can indulge in like box cricket, football, or play indoor games like pool, table tennis, carom, fuss ball, chess or just relax at the lawn area. You can also sit at the balcony gazing into the sky and rejoicing your drink.

Nitrro Fitness is a chain of fitness hubs set up by Prabodh Davkhare. When he opened Nitrro Fitness in 2012, it was with the sole intention of imparting holistic training. Today he has two centres in Thane and one at Breach Candy. Pune becomes the fourth hub and plans are on to set up one in Nashik soon.
