hiera hodos lore....
ID: A comic depicting Mara Sov and Sjur Eido from Destiny 2. Sjur is a tall, muscular woman with light purple skin, and yellow markings on her cheeks. The marks are concentric semi-circles that extend from her jaw to below her ear. She has long, pale blonde hair, with bangs that hang down to her eyebrow. the front part of her hair is braided back to a small bun, while the back of her hair is worn down. Sjur is wearing a reddish-purple coat with a fur-lined hood and a long gray skirt, and is carrying her bow on her back. Mara is wearing a dark purple cloak with gold lining, over an off-white sweater and dark purple pants, with dark brown boots that go up to her knees.
Panel 1: Sjur and Mara are walking up a hill in the Reef, towards the left. Sjur is in the foreground, far ahead of Mara. They are walking on a path that winds up the hillside, all the way from a small settlement in the distance. Asteroids and stars are visible in the sky. It is snowing, and there are several inches of snow accumulated off the path. Mara is saying "Slow down," and Sjur is glancing back at her.
Panel 2: Sjur turns back to Mara, with one hand extended back to her, and the other placed politely behind her back. She is smiling, and says, "I could carry you." Mara is doubled over resting her hands on her knees, hanging her head and exhausted. Text hovers next to her reading "tired" and "tfw tall gf."
Panel 3: Mara is standing slightly straighter but still bent over. She is reaching for Sjur's extended hand hand, smiling with her eyes closed. She says "Don't." Sjur is grinning, leaning towards Mara.
Panel 4: Sjur is tilting her head, grinning cheekily as Mara takes her hand. Sjur says "~ mhm ❤️." Mara looks at her from the corner of her eye, blushing slightly and looking almost shy. Text points to sjur that reads "going to pick you up immediately." A speech bubble from Mara reads "..."
Panel 5: Mara is sprinting dramatically to the right and towards the viewer, blushing hard with a determined look on her face. Sjur is in the background, chasing after her with her arms stretched out over her head and a comically distraught expression. Sjur is shouting "But my queen! My heart's calling is to serve you!!!"

Dungeon Meshi Quick Reacts: CH44
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How is Senshi the cutest one every time.
Tumblr media
Putting your cat into little outfits energy.
Does she even need a coat? She's got fur...
Tumblr media
eat the little screaming man, izutsumi
Tumblr media
laios really said "my hungry ass would NOT be here if eating monsters turned you into a monster" and Marcille straight up did not catch it. He's a cm away from the edge. He's out here covering himself in oil and running around the campfire, trying to lure werewolves out to bite him. He's simmering himself into soup. Wake up. Laios has the more complex nonsexual vore kink ever.
Tumblr media
.......why is her troupe trying not to use her name? I wonder if there's something specific about that. It wasn't just a nickname?
Tumblr media
Awww, dad's all tuckered out.
Tumblr media
I know I'm probably meant to find Izutsumi relatable on a childish level but I'm gonna be honest here. Her character hits too close to home where spoiled people are concerned for me to harbor any level of affection for her. I can understand how she might be beloved but man. Everything she says makes my eye twitch. If she were legitimately a child, it would be understandable. But she seems to be a young adult. At which point like. If you don't like the circumstances.... leave? Just leave. Just walk away if you don't want to eat their food. What are you yelling for? 😂 You joined THEM. They ain't forcing you to do shit. But instead of peacing out you're just screaming at them like a toddler.
Although to a point, I can understand her motivations. I understand how she has come this far, being so feral. I get WHY she is the way she is. But man. These guys are so patient with her.
Tumblr media
I'm sorry wh. What.
Tumblr media
Oh, I'm sure that's FINE.
Tumblr media
Oh, yeah, for sure. That's perfectly fine.
Tumblr media
When I said walk away - yeah, that's exactly what I meant. But Marcille and the others are chasing after her, so I guess... they don't agree. 😅
Tumblr media
Child.......................... ah, nevermind. It's not even worth it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, the cutaway from the heartfelt selfless message to a cat just going 'ah, well, fuck it, I don't care' WAS kinda funny actually.
Tumblr media
This is hilarious because in Japanese, the word order (SOV) means the translation here is incorrect. I mean, it's correct for what matters. But while the English phrase is 'close your eyes' then Japanese sentence is '目 を つぶって' which is literally EYES (ACC. particle) CLOSE!!
Tumblr media
I love Marcille. She's a wimp, but she's the strongest wimp I know.
Tumblr media
Laios:
Wolves: Man, I don't think I want to have whatever HE'S having.
Tumblr media
So....is it.... like meat.... or is it like a vegetable...???
Tumblr media
the fucking STYLE SHIFT
Listen, Tade is earning her thighs. Leave her alone.
Tumblr media
Izutsumi and Chilchuk can bond over being babied by the other three.

Fictober day 14 "Yes. No. I don't know."
“Yes. No. I don’t know.”
Emmers just blinked at this individual's explanation. Of all the people who didn't run at the sight of her, this one was just interesting. Before long the confusion erupted into laughter. Almost like you could also hear two sets of laughter.
Forgot how long it’s been since we’ve had a conversation so enjoyable. I could get used to this.
She grinned. “Considering I just asked you your name, and you said that. Completely fine, of course. We like it.”
"Oh, what's a name? Just something to call yourself. I haven't decided for today anyway." The albino individual just seemed as calm and carefree as when they first showed up.
Emmers just let the parasitic part of her tongue out to test the air a bit before looking them over. No reaction so far from even seeing that. It would make sense since they are not human.
The magic of enhanced senses. So many new things to discover now in the world. I won't push it now, that would be rude. I've only just met this person after all.
“Then what shall I call you in the meantime?” She asked.
They perked up at the question. Like they were just waiting for her to ask the right one. “People tend to call me Sovergin for some reason, so it just stuck. If I haven’t said anything then use that, or just Sov.”
“Then you may call me Emmers." She just gave a big grin. If Sovereign was expecting a reaction to the name they gave, then she wasn't showing it. The name she choose wasn't any different in her eyes.
Sovereign just got excited as they started shaking her hand with enough energy for the both of them. "So exciting to meet you as well. Should I call the other part something as well, or are they speaking for themselves?"
So they picked up on that part too. Well, here I thought we would talk more before we got to that.
Her grip stopped the handshake. "We are always together, but together is what made me exist. Here I thought we would get to know each other before asking stuff like this."
She started pouting like a cat. Which made Sovereign a bit more dramatic.
“Oh dear me what have I done?”
They dramatically looked dismayed, but quickly smiled. "In all seriousness, I do apologize. Sometimes I get a little excited meeting people. Especially unique ones like yourself."
Oh, I am going to love it when they come back.

IOTA DRACONIS
Legendary / Energy / Fusion Rifle
"The paths between stars are fractal mirrors of the neurons in our brains and the vicissitudes of our fates." —Sjari, Awoken Techeun
Daniel insisted they check in on Saint-14 and his rescued Osiris once they returned to the Tower. If the Cryptarch got a little misty-eyed emotional over the relief and adoration the Titan held for his returned husband, Jack wouldn’t ever mention it. He has stood watch and cared for Daniel so many times himself, hoping to be the first thing he’d see upon waking. Jack knew exactly how Saint felt and it left him feeling something rather emotional, too.
So much so that when they parted ways with Saint that evening, Jack took Daniel directly home and made love to him slow and tender by the light of the Traveler shining in through the apartment’s windows. He poured his heart into Daniel through kisses and touch, watched him respond beautifully, like a flower soaking up the sun. And when Daniel fell apart from too much, Jack held him through the storm of their passions and gently tucked him back together in the calm afterwards.
It was a stolen moment of pure joy. A gift for them and their yearning hearts before being forced to regroup. A reprieve before the nightmares began again, tragedies starting anew. After all, who really knew what the hunt for Savathûn would bring.
Without a Ghost of his own, Daniel would always be vulnerable. Every mission they ran, Daniel was at risk of permanent death. Seeing a Guardian, especially a Warlock as powerful and willful as Osiris, lose their Ghost: that hit hard. For Jack, though, watching Saint-14, the strongest and bravest of Titans, reduced to worry and panic over his now Light-less beloved? That hit him even harder.
That could’ve been Daniel. Savathûn could have snatched him up, used him just the same as she had Osiris. Jack could see how she played with his Cryptarch’s mind even from her crystal cage, tried twisting him just like she did poor Crow.
There had always been something melancholy and desperate in Daniel since he’d initially come home from the Dreaming City, something that Jack hadn’t seen in him before on their first fateful mission to The Reef. Jack noticed it after giving Daniel simple gestures of affection, even more so after taking Daniel to bed and loving him thoroughly. The Hunter chalked up the sad little quiet moments and private bouts of needy intimacy to grief and loneliness. Daniel thought he was hiding it, but Jack knew him too well.
Or at least he believed he did. Because somehow Savathûn had tapped that pain in Daniel. Even Mara Sov could pull the ache to Daniel’s surface. What did they know that Jack didn’t? What did they know so directly about his lover, while Jack only found himself stumbling over it like an Eliksni web mine, leaving him confused and drawn up short? What was the common denominator hiding in them all?
“You can talk to me, you know,” Jack said to the curve of Daniel’s neck, hopefully sounding confident, as he placed a kiss on his shoulder.
Daniel stretched his long body like a lazy cat before turning and curling on his side and onto Jack. He folded an arm over Jack’s chest so he could rest his chin on it and stare up at him sweetly under heavy eyelids. The electric blue of his eyes was brilliant without his glasses to dim them, even more so with satisfaction turning his gaze soft. “I don’t?” he teased.
With a snort, Jack had to concede that one. “Okay, talk to me, not just at me. About anything. I mean it.”
His laugh was full of fond amusement. “Are you looking for a bedtime story, Jack? Because I’ve been talking to Eido down in the Eliksni Quarter, she’s been telling me all about how she’s recorded the House of Light’s history. Ah, there’s the glazed over expression I’m so familiar with.”
“Daniel,” Jack said, eyes narrowing in a flat look of irritation.
Daniel smiled, all coy innocence and boyish dimples, backlit by the play of Light softly rippling under his Awoken skin. “Jack?”
In privacy together was one of the few places Jack could ever witness Daniel so carefree and unguarded. Forever at odds among his peers in the Cryptomancy, and with the past abuses heaped upon him by the people he once considered loved ones and the losses of so many dear to him, Daniel tended to have a subtle edge about him that he very rarely dropped. Somehow Jack had found favor with Daniel, was given his trust—his heart—like a precious gift, and Jack loathed to break it.
And yet, here he was, trying to prod at invisible wounds, looking to hurt Daniel in his own happy place. For what purpose? To be nosey? To assuage some kind of jealousy that others knew his Cryptarch better? In all honesty, those could be true, but Jack just wanted to soothe whatever it was that made Daniel ache so much he didn’t feel he could show it.
“What’s eating at you, Daniel?”
He blinked rapidly, eyelashes fluttering, before his eyes looked down, darted away. He took a deep breath, licked his lips. Jack could feel his body tensing up, fight or flight kicking in. He put an arm around Daniel to keep him close, rubbed circles on his back to try showing he didn’t mean any of this in harm.
“I’m fine. I, uh,” Daniel swallowed and gathered a brave face, looking Jack in the eyes, “I don’t know what you mean.”
“Is it Riven?”
The perfect lavender flush from their lovemaking has long since vanished, but now the pale blue of his face faded to a deathly gray, the ribbons of Light under his skin pitching into Darkness. The guilt and sorrow crashed over Daniel’s face in slow motion, Jack’s educated guess taking him more by surprise than he was able to protect himself against.
“Did you make a bargain, Daniel?”
He tried to push away, but Jack wouldn’t let him. So Daniel tried harder and they scuffled, losing the blankets and pillows to the floor. But Jack prevailed, hugging Daniel to him, one arm across his waist and the other around his back, his hand gently pressing against the back of Daniel’s neck. Daniel settled with his arms wrapped defensively around himself, his forehead resting on Jack’s sternum as he just tried to breathe.
“They say Wish Dragon bargains really were cursed. Monkey paw wishes.” Jack’s fingers brushed at the short hairs at Daniel’s nape, offering a little comfort. “I know you knew this, going in. But you can’t help the wishes in your heart.”
Daniel was very still in his arms.
“You don’t know that your life is forever tied to the damn thing once you’ve made a bargain, though,” Jack said quietly. “How else would the curse stay with you long after they’re gone. When the raid team went in, we all had a wish in our hearts. Revenge for Cayde. We killed Uldren and it wasn’t enough. Riven started him on that path, we wanted her dead for it. So, she wished a curse on the Dreaming City with her last breath, a trade for us putting her down.”
He felt Daniel shudder. “You don’t understand,” he gritted bitterly.
“You think I don’t? I was greedy, Daniel,” Jack said, his voice taking on a harsh whisper in his confession. “I made a second bargain before I even pulled my gun. All I could think about was you in the chamber above, alone with Taken waiting in the wings. ‘Let me bring Daniel home alive.’”
Breath turning ragged and heavy, Daniel seemed to be biting back words, shaking his head where his forehead rested against Jack’s chest.
“I got my wish. I got you out of there and back to the Tower. Safe. Alive. And every mission after, no matter how near to death you may reach, no matter how many times you come close to it, I still bring you home alive.”
“This isn’t real,” Daniel choked on a quiet sob. “This is still Riven. This. This is Savathûn.”
Jack was floored by the accusations, enough so that when Daniel pushed away this time, Jack didn’t even think to stop him. He just watched stupidly as the Cryptarch clambered off the bed and as far away from him as possible. He grabbed for the first article of clothing he could find, Jack’s thermal pants, and quickly pulled them on. Jack would normally find that hot, Daniel half dressed in Jack’s own clothes, but at the moment he felt impossibly cold.
“Daniel?” Jack sounded raw as he called to his lover.
“Oh god, Jack, I want to hear you sound hurt. I want, I want so much for you to sound like you care for me. But it’s not real,” Daniel insisted.
Jack sat up and held out his hands. “Daniel, please, come back to bed.”
Daniel’s arms came up around himself in his defensive self-hug, his shoulders tight and high around his ears. “I can’t. I want to, but, Jack, I can’t.”
“What do you mean, you can’t?” Jack stood up, confused and just wanting to hold and calm Daniel.
The Cryptarch backed himself further across the room, glowing blue eyes darting between Jack and the apartment door once he figured out he was on the wrong side of the bed to escape. The horrific realization that Daniel was trying to protect himself against Jack, was looking for routes of escape from Jack, had him dropping back to sitting on the bed, utterly staggered.
“Ahamkara warp reality to grant wishes. Don’t you see, Jack?” Daniel began to pace along the far wall, his words picking up speed as he warmed to his argument. “This isn’t real. What we have, what you think you might feel for me? Riven did that to you. Against your will. Because I wished for you.”
“Me?” Jack asked, as a cold rock settled in his stomach. The probability that all this, the best thing that had ever happened to him since Charlie, might not be true left him stunned.
“For all that I had—Sha’re and Skaara, access to the Dreaming City, my mother’s past—I missed you, Jack,” Daniel said, pressing his back to the wall and sliding down to the floor. “When the Taken came, I needed you. All I could think was, if you knew, if you just knew I was in danger, then maybe you’d. Maybe you w-would save us. You’re the only person I’ve ever known to truly, unconditionally have my back. You were my friend.”
Daniel hung his head, shamefaced and defeated. Jack could just see the glint of tears slipping down his chin by the light of the Traveler’s glow. “It could have been any Guardian, but in my heart. I wanted you. And then you were there.”
Shaking his head, Daniel’s breath hitched. He continued on in a helpless whisper. “I should’ve wished for freedom, for the safety of those in the Dreaming City. I should’ve wished for Sha’re and Skaara or the Techeuns to be released from the Taken. But Riven shoved her claws into my heart and pulled you free and I couldn’t. I couldn’t.” The guilt hung heavy on Daniel’s shoulders, weighing him down and curling him in on himself.
For three long years, he bore the burden of a wish coerced from him in desperation. Every kiss they shared, every time they made love, Daniel believed it to be a lie. The curse of Riven’s wish come true. The sorrow Jack had seen in him all this time was that Daniel knew it was all a sham, but felt so much for Jack that he couldn’t give it up. He thought he was selfishly taking advantage of Jack all this time.
But wait. They’d wished for each other, hadn’t they? Daniel needed Jack to come for him and Jack, he just wanted to bring Daniel safely home. Didn’t that cancel the curses out or something? And what about what Jack felt? He was grudgingly attracted to the geeky Cryptarch before they even left for The Reef, and his admiration only grew worse as he watched Daniel in action as they fought and negotiated their way to the Venetian Outpost. They were friends then, but Jack was pretty sure now that he was already on his way to falling for Daniel. Why else would he make a bargain with a damn Wish Dragon to bring the infuriatingly brilliant pain in his ass home with him?
“You know, I’m not a Warlock,” Jack said slowly, glad that some semblance of confidence had returned to his voice. “I don’t get the whole reality warp thing. I just care that I get to live in the reality where I can love you.”
Daniel went very still, to the point Jack wasn’t even sure he was breathing.
“It’s always felt real to me, Danny,” Jack went on, his voice low and sweet, just the way he liked to murmur the secrets of his heart against Daniel’s skin. “Every moment felt like a truth. I thought my heart grew on its own for you all this time. So what if it was nudged? Or led? I still feel it. And it feels right.”
“Jack?” There was a desperation in the way Daniel said his name. It was as if he was hanging from a fragile edge—urgent—but raising his voice above a hoarse whisper would shatter everything.
Jack answered back calmly and sure, “Daniel.”
The dam broke and Daniel’s grief poured out. Jack, still naked, crossed the room to his sobbing lover and gathered him into his arms. They sat tangled together on the floor as the Traveler shined on through the window over their heads.
It made sense now to Jack why Daniel somehow always managed to interrupt him from ever saying I love you. Why would he want to hear it, if it wasn’t true? So Jack whispered it over and over, in Daniel’s hair, against his cheek, into his ear. I love you. I love you. I love you.
When Daniel could breathe again without the hiccup of tears, Jack pulled them both up to their feet. But Daniel pushed him away.
“I have to. I have to go,” he told the Hunter. Jack hoped he had washed the guilts and aches away from Daniel’s heart, but even now he still wore them. He just wasn’t hiding it from Jack anymore. Jack tried reaching for him, but Daniel fended him off and backed away quickly. He grabbed a shirt from the back of a chair, his own that he tossed there as Jack hustled him to bed a few hours ago, and yanked it on. “Please. I just. I need to think. Clear my head.”
“Daniel.” He wasn’t above begging, not for his Cryptarch, and his name was a plea on Jack’s lips.
“Jack.” Daniel looked torn, as if fighting himself over wanting to flee as fast as his long legs could carry him, or to curl into Jack again and never leave his warmth. Shutting his eyes and squeezing them tightly, Daniel nodded to himself and determinedly made his decision. “Just. Just stay. I need you here. When I come back.”
A rush of nervous energy, Daniel only stopped long enough to shove his feet into a pair of boots—Jack’s—and fumble with the locks of his door. Then he was gone.
Jack sat naked on the rumpled bed in Daniel’s apartment, the Traveler a witness through the windows. Marge was quietly tucked away, but no doubt she heard it all and was only keeping her peace for the time being. Probably just waiting for Daniel to come back to give him a passive-aggressive piece of her little Ghost mind.
He sighed and picked up the pillows, straightened the blankets from their tussle. Not even a half hour ago, they’d been enjoying a sweet afterglow. But Jack had to open his mouth. He didn’t regret it, though; he finally said the words he’d long to tell his distractingly talented Cryptarch. I love you.
At some point, he must have fallen asleep as he waited, hoped, and worried over Daniel’s return. He turned over and reached out for a warm body, but was only met with cold, empty sheets. Disappointment sunk his heart.
He opened his eyes as shadows played with the mid-morning light glowing in his face. Wreathed in a perfectly cloudless blue sky, haloed in golden sunshine, Daniel stirred from his perch on the windowsill. He must’ve been watching the Tower coming to life below, listening to the calls of merchants in the Bazaar and chatter of the remaining New Monarchy’s members discussing Tower politics. He probably heard Jack rustling the sheets and turned to him, putting a mug that no doubt held coffee down on his seat as he stood.
He looked tired. Ragged. Wistful. Endlessly beautiful.
The grip this man held on Jack’s heart still felt exquisitely, crushingly real.
He pulled back the blankets and wordlessly opened his arms. With no hesitation, Daniel climbed into the bed with Jack, wrapping himself in his embrace. He cupped Jack’s face with a tender hand and drew him into a slow, sweet kiss.
"I love you," Daniel murmured against Jack's lips, desperate and unapologetic. And it was the honest truth.

The Basics #3: Sentence Structure and Particles
안녕, 여러분! Hey, everyone! Welcome back to my blog! In this lesson, I want to teach you the basic sentence structure of Korean. Let’s start by examining the sentence structure of English, first!
In English, we use the SVO (subject-verb-object) order to form basic sentences. For example:
I like cats
Subject = I
Verb = Like
Object = Cats
In Korean, however, we use the SOV (subject-object-verb) order to do this. Thus, instead of “I like cats,” we would literally say “I cats like.” The Korean translation for the sentence above, for example, would be:
저는 고양이들을 좋아해요                                                                                        Subject =  저는 (I)                                                                                                  Object =  고양이들을 (cats)                                                                                    Verb = 좋아해요 (like)
To a native English speaker, this looks very odd at first. But don’t worry! After some practice, you’ll have no problem with this!
Now, let’s talk about the real confusing part: particles. In English, we don’t exactly have particles to indicate which word is the subject or object. Korean, however, does. They can often be dropped in normal conversation, but using them creates less ambiguity and makes your sentences clearer. Let’s begin with topic particles.
Topic Particles: 은/는
As their title suggests, topic particles show what the topic of the sentence is. In the sentence, 저는 고양이들을 좋아해요, 저는 is the topic. 저, I, is the one doing the action, which is liking something else.
Let’s look at another example: 제 이름은 미셸입니다. (My name is Michele)
Here, the word for “name,” 이름, has a topic particle attached. We are talking about my name, therefore it’s the main focus of the sentence.
*note: 는 is attacked to nouns ending in a vowel (ex. 저는), while 은 is attached to those ending with consonants (ex. 이름은). This is just for the sake of easier pronunciation!
Subject Particles: 이/가
Now let’s move on to the subject particles. Let’s read this example:
오늘은 날씨가 좋아요. (The weather is good today)
오늘 = today
날씨 = weather
좋아요 = is/are/am good
*Note: 이 is attached to nouns ending in a consonant (ex. 집이), while 가 is attached to nouns ending with a vowel (ex. 날씨가).
We have both a topic particle and a subject particle. Here, the topic is 오늘. We are talking about today, so that’s the main topic of the sentence. You may also think of this sentence like this: As for today, the weather is good. This sets up “today” as the main topic.
But what about 날씨? That’s also what the sentence is about: the weather. So why does it have a subject particle instead?
This concept can be confusing for even advanced learners (and me too lol). The truth is that they are essentially the same thing. There is, however, a difference in some situations. Let’s use the same example.
오늘은 날씨가 좋아요.
This could simply mean “the weather is good today,” but may have a different nuance depending on the context. 오늘 has the topic particle attached, meaning that a comparison between “today” and another day could be a part of the conversation. For example:
어제 비가 왔어요. 오늘은 날씨가 좋아요.
It rained yesterday. Today, the weather is good.
어제 = yesterday
비 = rain
왔어요 = came (literally means rain came yesterday)
Because 오늘 has 은 attached, there is an emphasis on “today” (in this particular case). We are pointing out a distinction between the events of yesterday and today, hence why 오늘 should be emphasized--it rained yesterday, but as for today, it is very nice outside. Shall we try another example?
 제가 집에 안 갔어요. 민지는 집에 갔어요.
I did not go home. Minji went home
제가 = another way of saying I/me (as the subject of sentence) (formal)
집 = home/house
에 = location particle
안 = not
갔어요 = went (past-tense of “to go”)
* When talking about locations, the location you are indicating would usually go after the subject/topic, as seen here. Sentences must always end in a verb, unlike English!
In the second sentence, 민지 has 는 attached. In this context, you are trying to make a comparison between what the two of you did. You didn’t go home, but Minji did. Perhaps someone thought you left their party before it was over, but in reality, Minji is the one who left early. Hope that makes more sense! Still have the energy to learn about object particles?
Object Particles: 을/를
Let’s look at our first example again: 저는 고양이들을 좋아해요
Here, 고양이들 (cats), is the object. This means that I, 저는, am the one doing the action onto the cats. Let’s try another one:
저는 책을 읽어요. I read a book.
책 = book
읽어요 = read
Like the previous example, I am the subject acting on the book--I am reading it. Thus, the word for book gets the object particle as it is being acted upon in some way.
That’s about it for the subject, topic, and object particles. Let’s discuss location ones now. These are a little simpler and even mirror what we use in English, so don’t fear!
Location Particles: 에/에서
에 can be used to mark a time or place. In the example above, for instance, you can say 민지는 집에 갔어요 to mean Minji went home. Although we don’t have a particle in the English translation, 에 basically means “to.” In other words, this sentence may be translated as “Minji went to the house.” When you want to indicate that you are going to somewhere, you can attach 에 to that location. Here’s another example:
학교에 왔어요 = I/you/he/she/they came to school.
* In Korean, the subject/topic of the sentence can sometimes be dropped depending on the context. Sometimes, it it understood what/who you are talking about, so the subject/topic doesn’t always need to be indicated.
In this sentence, 에 is used since you came to school. It suggests some sort of change in location--you were in one place first, but you got up and went somewhere else.
에 can also be used when talking about time. For example:
7시에 일어났어요 = I got up at 7 o’clock
시 = word for “o’clock”
일어났어요 = got up
에서 is a little different. The closest English translation is “at.” Unlike 에, 에서 indicates an action that is being done while at that location. For instance:
학교에서 공부해요 = I study at school
공부해요 = study
Like in English, you wouldn’t say “I study to school,” because “study” isn’t a word of motion like the words “go,” “come,” “arrive,” “fly,” “drive,” etc. When using those motion verbs in Korean, you should use 에 since you are moving to another location. 에서, however, simply shows that you are doing an action at a location. This concept isn’t too different from what we use in English, so I hope it makes sense!
에서  can also mean “from” when discussing locations. Like we saw in an earlier lesson, you can say 저는 미국에서 왔어요 to literally mean “I came from America.” In this case, 에서 means “from.”
There are a lot of other particles in Korean that I might make a future lesson about, but I think this is enough for now lol. These are the ones you should know for basic Korean, so just focus on these for now! I hope this was helpful!! As always, feel free to ask me any questions you might have!! 안녕!

exotics make the noise, boys, but legendaries do the work.
After so many posts celebrating Destiny’s exotics I feel compelled to pay tribute to the other, far larger portion of the weapon pool: the legendary gear that pulls its weight all day every day. These are my top five all-arounders, the weapons I infuse up first, the ones I go to when I don’t know what I’m going up against. These are:
Blast Furnace / Hammerhead
Type: Pulse Rifle / Machine Gun
Slot: Kinetic / Heavy (Void)
Perks: Outlaw+Rampage / Dynamic Sway Reduction+Rampage
Kills: 16827 / 8697
Two of the Black Armory’s pieces, the Blast Furnace pulse rifle (shown here with the Verdigris shader) and Hammerhead machine gun (Amethyst Veil shader) still pull their weight a year after their introduction. Falling squarely on the scifi end of Destiny's scifi-fantasy spectrum, Black Armory weapons are easily recognized by their sleek-but-practical look, not flashy but new and designed and manufactured with great care. They have open straight-edged cowlings with visible internals and usually show traces of the Black Armory’s signature moiré-pattern animation.
Blast Furnace superseded Forsaken’s Go Figure pulse rifle (another of my go-to kinetics) with better stats in pretty much every column. The pulse rifle archetype is already one of Destiny’s best and Blast Furnace’s great stats, great perk pool, good chatter, and friendly sights - not to mention the ease of farming for the roll you want by completing Black Armory weapon frames instead of hoping for a random drop - plant it squarely in most Guardians’ top 10 if not 5. My chosen roll is Outlaw (reload much faster immediately after a precision kill) and Rampage (damage increases with each kill, stacks up to 3x), a classic top-tier perk set.
Hammerhead was one of the first non-exotic machine guns introduced and its decent range (here extended by Ricochet Rounds), 59-round clip, and fast-but-not-too-fast 450 RPM fire rate put it right at the sweet spot where it performs well against both large numbers of weaker enemies or a handful of powerful ones. It also fares well in PvP where heavy ammo is very rare and Hammerhead’s ability to put paid to a Guardian in 5 or 6 solid hits means you get more effective bang for your heavy ammo crate buck. My Hammerhead features Rampage and Dynamic Sway Reduction (holding down the trigger boosts accuracy over time) which doesn't come up much when firing short bursts but helps a lot when pouring an entire clip into a boss’ crit spot. Whenever I’m running an Energy-slot exotic or if I just don’t want to think too hard about my loadout, it’s a good bet I’ll throw on one or both of these weapons.
Subtle Calamity
Type: Bow
Slot: Energy (Void element)
Perk: Dragonfly/Archer’s Tempo
Kills: 11806
Subtle Calamity (Clouds At Sea shader) has no great lore or storied manufacturer behind it; it’s a general world loot drop added in Forsaken. And it’s great. I was already pumped for the addition of bows and Subtle Calamity ended up hitting the sweet spot for daily use. With bows the key stat is draw time; longer draw times equal more power but also, well, longer draw times. Hence why I went for the perk Archer's Tempo, which decreases draw time as you land precision hits. It also has the Dragonfly perk, a flashy ability I like probably more than it deserves, which causes enemies killed with precision hits to explode into AoE elemental damage. Bows are a lot of fun, occupying the middle ground between Auto Rifles and Sniper Rifles that Scout Rifles were supposed to fill, and given how lousy I am with snipers if I need to land precision hits I'll usually go for a bow instead.
In-universe, what's the explanation for Guardians suddenly getting into bows? It's because of the events of Forsaken and the Guardian push into the Tangled Shore and Dreaming City i.e. into more regular contact with the Awoken, for whom it's a culturally-significant weapon - something like a claymore to a Scot or a katana to the Japanese. More pragmatically when the Awoken first returned to our solar system and settled in the lashed-together space derelict habitats of the Reef they faced the problem of using weapons inside said space habitats as well as launching cables and small satellites. Their solution was bows: strong enough to fly far, carry payloads, and deal damage, but unlikely to pierce a hull and far easier to manufacture than firearms. Awoken Corsairs still use bows as near-silent precision weapons in actual combat, relying on technologically-advanced payloads to deal the real damage. Or not so advanced - Sjur Eido puts a broadhead arrow through an inch of Guardian plate armor with little more than determination, skill, and the properties of whatever magical material Wish-Ender is made from.
Tigerspite / Age-Old Bond
Type: Auto Rifle / Auto Rifle
Slot: Kinetic / Energy (Void)
Perks: Outlaw+Kill Clip / Rampage+Fourth Time's The Charm
Kills: 14623 / 11863
Though they come from different sources in-game, I’ve grouped these two together because they’re both Awoken weapons. Age-Old Bond (Circadian Chill shader) drops from the first encounter of the Last Wish raid while Tigerspite (Night’s Chill shader) comes from activities in the Dreaming City. I love both of these weapons and use them all the time even when they’re not ideal for the situation at hand. Tigerspite, like the rest of the Dreaming City weapon set, has an elven high-fantasy style featuring cloth wrappings (?) and long, sinuous curves. The Last Wish raid set has a similar aesthetic but goes for a combination of carved-bone paneling and animated celestial diagrams that recall Awoken tech displays.
Fun lore note: Tigerspite is one of the few non-exotics to be mentioned by name in the lore. Sjur Eido selects a Tigerspite for one round of her duel with Uldren Sov back in the Distributary. It gets referenced again as a standard Awoken weapon after their return to our solar system, so it’s had quite the service life. Tigerspite’s stats were superseded a while ago by newer auto rifles but I love its sights and feel and keep using it anyway. Outlaw (faster reload on precision kill) and Kill Clip (increased damage immediately after reloading after a kill) are a classic weapon perk combo that’s always in season. Also I’m pretty sure a cat gave me this gun. Not a cat-cat, a Dreaming Kitty, one of the nine adorable stone cat statues hidden in the Dreaming City. While doing Dreaming City activities you’ll sometimes pick up an item called “A Small Gift,” a dish of something that “smells faintly of mint.” Since catnip is a member of the mint family, that’s your hint to bring that gift to your nearest Dreaming Kitty. Doing so rewards a weapon and causes the chosen statue to disappear. I’m pretty sure the first or second kitty I ever found gave me this specific gun, which just seems appropriate given its name.
Age-Old Bond is a special weapon to me. It comes from the first fight of the Last Wish raid, an encounter with the Taken Techeun Kalli, the Corrupted, and was the first fight I ever completed with my informal raid crew named “World’s Worst Fireteam.” Last Wish released at 550-590 light at a time when most Guardians were still trying to crack 530 and thus could barely handle redbars on raid day one. We were like most Guardians. But we were unlike most Guardians in being stupid and stubborn, and so we went into the raid anyway, because if we couldn’t get World First, we could still get World’s Worst. We never had a chance at the full raid, but after great struggle and great teamwork we finally managed to bring down Kalli and net ourselves our first Last Wish raid drops. For me that drop was this specific auto rifle - which is not just sentimental, but actually special. Some legendary weapons in Destiny have “curated” rolls, perk and stat combinations chosen by Bungie to be top-tier if not the best possible. Anytime you get a weapon drop you have the chance to get a curated drop instead, which comes fully-masterworked with those chosen perks. Age-Old Bond’s curated roll was the only one at the time with the new Fourth Time’s The Charm perk; when you land four rapid precision hits (they don't have to be sequential) it refunds two rounds directly back to the magazine. This does more than you might think for the weapon’s versatility, since if you’re pouring fire into a single target’s crit spot (i.e. a boss) it effectively gives the weapon 50% more clip i.e. a solid 48 rounds before you have to reload. It won’t replace a Heavy or high-DPS weapon anytime soon, but it’s pretty handy in a tight spot. The other perks on the curated roll max out Age-Old Bond’s range stat compared to other auto rifles, one of the dump stats of that archetype, and with a Counterbalance Stock mod to reduce recoil it’s practically a trace rifle.
I do favor these five weapons, but I also try to mix it up - I picked these five based on my top kill counts, but that biases it towards Y2 guns that have been in service longer. Plenty of newer weapons routinely turn up in my loadout these days: the pleasant chatter and Demolitionist perks of Outlast, Full Court/Field Prep Love and Death, the delightful new kinetic bow Accrued Redemption, Shaxx's broke-ass Crucible pinnacle weapon The Recluse, last season's snappy Patron of Lost Causes, the 600 RPM bullet-hose Arc Logic, and of course the reliable, venerable Y1 IKELOS shotgun. But in the end the only wrong loadout is one you don't enjoy, and the best choice is whatever you find the most fun.
