EDIT: Since I've seen some confusion about this; Bela Krajina is a region in Slovenia with a distinct culture and clothing style. The majority of the population are ethnically Slovene (here represented by the Miku on the right, "Slovenian Miku"), however there is a minority ethnic Serb population (also sometimes referred to as Orthodox Uskoki) who have lived in Bela Krajina since the 16th century and who have their own distinct folk clothing style (here represented by the Miku on the left, "Serbian Miku"). I wanted to include both of them because I find the cultural diversity of Bela Krajina really fascinating (and based on my experience, people in Bela Krajina are really proud of their diversity too!) and because the Serb minority in Bela Krajina is really small nowadays and often forgotten.

Are there any queer south slavic people on here who are willing to talk about how pobratimstvo and posestrimstvo is very queer? I have a few reasons to believe this and I'll probably make a post about it or I'll reblog it on this one. When a language wants to be as unique and authentic as possible and tries to replace all the international words with their own stuff - I can definitely understand that.

But what have Vienna? has ever done to you?? dear Slovenia??? so you don't even acknowledge it's existence???? And simply refer to the river Dunaj instead?????

(also in several other south Slavic languages, like Serbian or Bosnian, Vienna is called Beč, where č makes the "ch" sound and the whole word sounds kinda like "bench" without "n" in it)

I checked and while the spelling is slightly different, I am delighted to know that Polishbro did indeed call his cats Gluhi and Glupi. I wonder if a Polishbro would understand why kid me called his twin white cats, which were very majestic and regal when they grew up, Mic and Mac.

Still occasionally recall that post somebody shared on reddit(?) of their cats, introducing them by name. And someone in the comments asked "hey did you know that your cats' names mean 'deaf' and 'stupid' in polish?"

And this person answers "I am polish. The white cat is deaf and the orange one is stupid."
