NEW OVERNIGHT: American Variety YouTuber 'IShowSpeed' cancels Visayas stop in Dumaguete City, especially the big 3 selected cities to be decided on; Vietnam opts-in for his South East Asia tour [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
(Written by Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong / Freelanced News Writer, Online Media Reporter and News Presenter of OneNETnews)
HO CHI MINH, VIETNAM -- An absolute, shockingly twist of events, the widely-beloved variety and veteran male YouTuber, originating from the Ohio state in America named 'Mr. Darren Jason Watkins Jr.', who goes by his online moniker 'IShowSpeed', reportedly changed his traveling schedule during the South East Asia tour.
Originally intended by heading to the Visayas province to either visit Bacolod, Dumaguete (for both regions of Negros Occidental and Oriental), Cebu, or even Siquijor on Friday night (September 13th, 2024 -- GenSan local time), the content creator from United States of America (U.S.A.) has instead decided to head on over to 'Vietnam' from 'General Santos City, South Cotabato' the following morning on September 14th.
The visit of 'IShowSpeed' in our country has been really chaotic and memorable. When he arrived this week in Metro Manila via Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), he enthusiastically mixed with fans that caused several incidents wherein crowd control became a global worship epidemic issue. Yet, his whole thrust on trying to really appreciate the local culture and connect it to his fans showed that the interactions might be too overpowering for him.
On his 1st day this week, 'IShowSpeed' was surrounded by large crowds, leading to some tense moments, including being mobbed at a Mercedes Benz dealership in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) of Taguig. The situation escalated on the 2nd day, with fans becoming increasingly aggressive in General Santos City, prompting IShowSpeed to plead for more respectful behavior. This was after a double mini-exhibition home matches against Manny Dapidran 'PacMan' Pacquiao, relating both the boxing and chess.
Regarding the snack purchase of Oishi Pillows at a local sari-sari store, a text message reached out exclusively to 'Jerry Sara' with OneNETnews, as indicated from their verified GCash number (an electronic mobile wallet app for the Filipinos, who was owned by Mynt). IShowSpeed pocketed the change for PHP500 (almost U$D9), by being supporting Filipino snacks that were bought as promoted, during a LIVE online broadcast on YouTube (also owned by Google's Alphabet): "Taos puso po kaming nagpapasalamat sa kanya, dahil isa ang tindahan namin na napuntahan nya. Lalo na sa binigay niya, maraming blessings pa sa kanya", Sara concluded in Tagalog dialect.
The situation is already bad and rising; as we have learned exclusively from this latest information to us, The management and staff of IShowSpeed, came up with a decision to cancel their planned visits in one of the cities the Visayas region has chosen. IShowSpeed claims that immediately after his GenSan trip, he might go to Cebu City, and maybe right here in Negros Oriental, such as the municipality of Tanjay, Sibulan, and here in the City of Gentle People (known as Dumaguete) in the Philippines, if all else is planned peacefully at the end of his tour.
Instead, they opted for a silent departure to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, where the male variety YouTuber will continue his tour at night, according to an independent social media source. Their spate for sure reasons, if they resulted for a bad rainy weather, or to be taken a full-day rest off-stream for Day 3 on Friday. This was to secure his safety and well-being, as well as the security of those online fans & traditionally in-person. He is now landed recently in Vietnam today, where he will resume his South East Asia tour throughout the weekend.
These Filipino people had mixed reactions, and many know it has to be done for safety reasons, while some others were really shocked, like us, the Cebuano people in the Visayas and Mindanao, for this sudden change of plans. His worsest idea ever observed by this online epidemic of worshipping at concern. In exemption, during the whole South East Asia tour, food and cultures won't have any issue at all in the time of its writing.
Despite this, it is indeed a bit disappointing for some online and physical netizens on YouTube, especially after such a memorable visit to General Santos City and meeting with the former pro-boxer and congressional senate 'Mr. Manny Pacquiao'. That must have been an incredible experience for both 'IShowSpeed' and his fans.
Earlier, during the much-awaited Saturday afternoon broadcast from 5:30pm to 9:05pm (Manila local time), highlighted with almost 170,000 LIVE viewers. The total madness in Vietnam road is similar to the people there. He began his visit, inside a local market, trying to buy T-Shirts at the 'Tien My Shop'.
Then, local Subway-like sandwich restaurant, notably at 'Banh Mi Huynh Hoa' teaching 'IShowSpeed' on how to make one, especially if you really want to customize your food order, as inspired by the Connecticut-owned sandwich company in America. After that, a historic museum with the old-fashion of traditional dresses - needs no introduction at "Nguyen's Royal Museum". Her manager accepted him and gave it a souvenir free-of-charge, as a token of respect, to be served like a king.
Crowds gone wild, the people of Vietnam became a successful trip, with his limitations and riskiness first. Plus, he went to a local event as IShowSpeed had taken part with Gumball 3000 rally, celebrates its 25th anniversary. And wrapping last via motor bike, comparing to commute here in the Philippines, he will be staying at Landmark 81 hotel to end the night out, leaving for serving a Vietnamese noodle soup dish called 'Pho', along with a slow hit songs LIVE on YouTube for one night only.
In general, IShowSpeed's tour across South East Asia will run till the end of September this year, and resumes travel safely across the region in one continent place as a whole, and with the highest respect for cultures and fans.
As 'IShowSpeed' continues his enthralling exploration of this said continent-wide tour, there are more exciting LIVE streams, set to emanate from his YouTube channel, as he shares such rich cultures and experiences of the region. The tour itself is testament to the global impact online content creators leave in building passionate communities across the borders.

The Cultural Mosaic of South Cotabato in my Identity
My birthplace, Koronadal, South Cotabato, stands for me as a colorful fusion of cultures and values. Our society is a mix of T'bolis, B'laans, Ilonggos, Bisayas, and Tagalogs, like a simmering pot of diversity. We weave our stories and traditions together to create an exquisite weaving of heritage, synthesizing a kaleidoscope of traditions.
The T'boli people have a unique place of regard within a mosaic of cultures. They create the precious cloth known as T'nalak while secluded away on the captivating waters of Lake Sebu. This sacred fabric pays honor to the T'boli dream weavers by incorporating dreams into each of its individual strands. As dream weavers and creators of our own destinies, we too represent the spirit of our South Cotabateña roots when we wear the T'nalak.
Our culture is woven with dreams, which motivates us to pursue our ambitions with perseverance. Our spirits are woven with courage and determination, never hesitating to embark on the tough path leading to our goals. Every South Cotabateña embraces this ferocious ambition to create their own stories as a defining characteristic that has been passed down through the years.
A dormant stratovolcano known as Mt. Parker in Lake Holon lies beautifully amongst the artwork of dreams. Lake Holon which is home to quiet waters, represents the spirit of our individuals as well as our unwavering dedication to planet sustainability care. Its calm depths serve as a cultural symbol and are a testament to our constant commitment to protection and conservation. Given that we are innate caregivers who nurture and maintain the delicate balance of the environment around us, responsibility is built in our DNA.
I am proud to be a South Cotabateña, dressed in the colors of our culture. Every element of our culture, from the pulsating sounds of folk dances to the alluring tastes of regional food, tells a tale of resiliency, harmony, and compassion. I am a living example of the myriad cultures that coexist within me and represent the cultural diversity of South Cotabato. We, dreamers, rise in this land of aspirations and accountability as stewards of the planet and master weavers of our own destinies. Together, we create a colorful picture that pays homage to the past, changes the present, and creates a complex web of optimism regarding the future.

A video of Ye Gas Kafun singing a T’boli chant when prompted on the spot. Hans Brandeis, an ethnomusicologist and the original poster, states: “The recurring theme of the song is about a visit by an American (not necessarily American, could be any white race as Filipinos collectively refer to 'whites' as American). [In this case, it refers to the person making the video, and that's me.] The guest gave them bread and looks rich and so while they are glad to welcome him, they are also saddened by his imminent return to his world without them.”
Ye Gas Kafun is from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines. This recording was made on November 10, 2004 inside the house of the late hegelung (wooden two-string lute) master, Mâ Fil Angkoy. She still sings to this day.

We meet again, Bohol!
As beautiful as the Philippines is, many destinations offer mostly sand and surf. But not Bohol. This province is known for unique attractions that you can’t find anywhere else in the Philippines.
Sure, other islands in the Philippines are worth recommending, too, but most boast one or two of the following — white beaches, incredible sites, diverse wildlife, interesting history. Bohol has them all. From wild encounters with dolphins and tarsiers to the incomparable views of the Chocolate Hills, Bohol is a province that is easy to promote. It doesn’t need much sales talk.
We stayed at Coastal View in Panglao, then we transferred to On Board Beach Hostel and Resort for some quiet alone time near the beach. The wedding was at South Palms Resort, and I can attest that this is probably the most exquisite hotel here, next to Bohol Beach Club.
I was tasked with the daunting task of speaking in front of everyone. I wasn't really prepared to cry, so I let the "funny" me take over. Let me share to you guys my speech during the wedding.
"Kamusta naman ang lahat? Nakainom na ba? Kung Hindi pa, ito na yung time. Haha. For everyone's reference, I'm jasfher ako yung favorite friend ng groom and bride. Jk. Haha.
Jk. Haha
Okay kidding aside, sige maybe I'll just start ho I met the bride and the groom. Tagalog yung speech ko so pasensya na. To our foreigner friends, welcome to the Philippines. Haha.
Si brux and karla orgmates ko from UP travel society. Hindi ko din alam paano nabuo yung barkadahan namin, pero I guess we all just clicked and nagkakaayaan na lang kumain, gumala, tumambay ganyan, and the rest was history.
Yung siargao kasi grabe talaga yun gabi-gabi kami lasing as in tumatakbo kami nina karla sa kalsada tapos hinahabol kami nina brux. Haha. Grabe talaga yun. Nung South Cotabato naman, natry namin yung highest zipline in the South East Asia, may nadaanan kaming apat na waterfalls ganun kataas. Tapos ang dami naming change costume nag T'boli traditional costume kami, tapos nag abaya and hijab kami nung pumunta kaming Grand Mosque. Very dubai ganon. Haha.
Indeed a matchmake in heaven walang distance distance. They will really make way to communicate, and show their love for each other. The yin to each other's yang.
So medyo ang haba na no? haha so summary and summary? Haha. Nakita ko silang nag grow, both literally and figuratively. As in kung may masasabi akong couple na tested by time and distance ay sila talaga iyon. In between those laughters, I know genuine love is there. Sobrang happy ko na nagkatuluyan kayo, and from day 1, alam kong kayo na talaga. I know madaming taon taon pa tayong pagsasamahan, at andito lang kami para sa inyo. Congratulations, Karla and Brux, and i only hope the best for you both. Mahal na mahal ko kayo 💕
Cheers to the brucals!" Probably the best and most heartfelt wedding I've been to. Cryfest. Literally shed buckets of tears. So this is how it feels like to see your close friends get married. I was so lucky to have witnessed this momentous event in our barkada (god and tanda na namin haha)

Brgy. Miasong South Cotabato

" Blooming bright, like a Sunflower in the Light"
On May 23, 2021, in Blooming Petals in Tupi, South Cotabato, this picture was captured. On this particular day, we traveled through Tupi on the way to General Santos airport, where my parents were dropping me off for my flight back to Manila. Since they came to realize it would take a while for me to return to Mindanao, they wondered about bringing me here first.

FOLLOW-UP REPORT with THIS JUST IN: 'IShowSpeed' teases final 3rd Day in South East Asia tour, while visiting Day 2 in GenSan with 'Manny Pacquiao' outplays to 2-0 in Mini-Exhibition Home Boxing and Friendly Chess Match [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
(Written by Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong / Freelanced News Writer, Online Media Reporter and News Presenter of OneNETnews)
GENERAL SANTOS, SOUTH COTABATO -- Continuing the South East Asia tour, following after the first trip on Day 1 in 'Bonifacio Global City, Taguig' as one Ohio-native variety and veteran male YouTuber 'IShowSpeed', whose real name as 'Mr. Darren Jason Watkins Jr.' goes to General Santos City in South Cotabato of Mindanao region, setting to face off a highly anticipated mini-exhibition match and friendly chess match against retired boxing legend and former congressional senator "Mr. Manny Dapidran 'PacMan' Pacquiao", embarking on its way to its disclosed resident place.
Starting off first for the night, massive crowds on locals were extremely crazy of excitement on Thursday night (September 12th, 2024). He explored personally at a local night market, where he bought a cheap and unlicensed 'One Piece' anime shirt for PHP300 (approximately U$D5.40). Then, he pay a visit at the basketball court and passing by on-foot, to the famous fast-food chain 'Mang Inasal'.
On his way in 'Pendatun Avenue', he immediately tried 'balut' from a street vendor (a traditional Filipino delicacy consisting of fertilised chicken eggs that are eaten from the shells) on this same night. After bravely eating the balut egg, IShowSpeed is taking a short police escort to the van, and on its way to the Pacquiao's mansion.
During the Philippine trip in online broadcasting, the YouTube LIVE broadcast experienced occasional lags every few to several minutes at a time, since he was travelled from Mindanao, likely due to poor internet service in the area, which affected the live feed quality in some telcos like Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) and Smart Communications as an example, for those having Pocket WiFi(s) or mobile data with subscription promos.
Quarter minutes later from driving, IShowSpeed recently arrived at a luxurious mansion of Mr. Manny Dapidran 'PacMan' Pacquiao, which boasts a private karaoke theater, expensive vehicles, and even, he owned a basketball court, where you can play your local basketball teams in South Cotabato. His collaboration with Pacquiao marks a significant highlight of the night. The family groups of 'Team Pacquiao' are on tour for a male American variety and veteran YouTuber, which currently featured on this video-sharing platform (owned by Google's Alphabet).
Mr. Pacquiao is an 8-Division World Boxing Champion, who has been retired from professional boxing since late-September 2021, and in politics for his congressional senate role since late-June 2022, but is still active in various exhibition matches and philanthropic activities. He adds a new sporting role for basketball alone. The decision to spar with 'IShowSpeed', fascinated both the world of boxing and that of YouTube as online fans witnessed the action at home.
In front of over 200,000 live viewers on YouTube, IShowSpeed faced Pacquiao in a mini-exhibition match. During this encounter, Pacquiao floored him down twice for a knockout: once with a playful punch to the arm and another time during their sparring session. The duo also engaged in a friendly chess match to end its mini-exhibition night, using his own leather chess board from the retired boxer, leaving Pacquiao won with a checkmate. Final result overall is 2 for Pacquiao and 0 for IShowSpeed. The american variety YouTuber and retired pro-boxer later sat down elsewhere in the house and ate balut.
Before the stream ended, within several minutes before 10pm, since he was started exactly at 6:45pm (GenSan local time)… IShowSpeed visited the local Jollibee store (a popular fast-food chain in the country), here in 'National Land Settlement Administration Road' in 'National Highway corner Nisa Road, Barangay Lagao', this said city and province. He critically commented on our news team that he is better than Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC).
As he concluded on Day 2 in Philippine trip… IShowSpeed announced exclusively to OneNETnews, his upcoming plans at Day 3 to either visit Davao City in Mindanao region, or heading last in the Visayas region in Bacolod City, Dumaguete City (Negros Island Region for both Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental), Cebu City or Siquijor; shortly after reaching 29.5 million subscribers. If didn't push through on Day 3, he is moving along early to its next country to travel, as part of the South East Asia tour.
Because of this, it was due to extremely insisted public demand and requesting online fans or in-person that warns all the Cebuano people with a heartfelt plea to remain calm to ensure smoother live streaming and online broadcasting with respect: "So, I love you all boys, I love the Philippines, I appreciate to you all. But when I come back, please just chill and tone it down, so I can actually stream it LIVE. I love your energy but, just to be chill first and listen, when I tell your stuff", IShowSpeed concluded.
General Santos Mayor named 'Ms. Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao' acknowledged that IShowSpeed came to Mindanao to support local authorities with medium-rare security and crowd control; adding an official stamp to his quite memorable Philippine journey on Day 2.
As IShowSpeed prepares to spend his 3rd final day in the country, speculations have turned to where the trip will head next, be it to another Philippine city or another country, along his Southeast Asian tour tomorrow on Friday the 13th (September 13th, 2024). Philippines' visit has entertained millions of viewers, and at the same time, has showcased the warm Filipino hospitality and experience waiting for all, who were travelled himself in the country.
