Double glazed doors are an essential feature for homeowners and businesses seeking enhanced energy efficiency, security, and comfort. APS Double Glazing in Melbourne offers a range of high-quality double glazed doors that provide numerous benefits compared to traditional single-pane doors.
The primary advantage of double glazed doors is their superior insulation properties. Similar to double glazed windows, these doors feature two panes of glass separated by a layer of air or gas, such as argon or krypton. This design effectively reduces heat transfer, keeping the interior of your property cooler in summer and warmer in winter. As a result, you can enjoy a more comfortable and consistent indoor temperature while reducing your energy consumption and utility bills.
In addition to thermal insulation, double glazed doors also offer excellent soundproofing properties. The multiple layers of glass and insulating gas create a barrier that effectively blocks out noise from the outside, providing a quieter and more peaceful indoor environment. This is especially beneficial for properties located in busy urban areas or near noisy streets.
Furthermore, double glazed doors enhance the security of your property. The dual layers of glass make it significantly more challenging for potential intruders to break through, providing added protection against break-ins and theft.
At APS Double Glazing, we offer a variety of double glazed door styles and designs to suit your preferences and complement the aesthetics of your property. Whether you prefer traditional hinged doors, modern sliding doors, or stylish French doors, we have options to meet your needs.

Creating a Peaceful Oasis: The Ultimate Guide to Soundproofing Your Home
Welcome to our blog, dear readers! Today, we are delving into the wonderful world of soundproofing - an essential aspect of creating a tranquil and harmonious living space. Whether you're dealing with noisy neighbors, bustling city streets, or just want to enjoy a more peaceful environment, soundproofing Melbourne is the answer to your woes. In this guide, we'll walk you through the ins and outs of soundproofing your home, and you'll soon be reveling in a serene oasis of your own.
Understanding Soundproofing
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty, let's take a moment to understand what soundproofing is all about. Soundproofing is the process of minimizing sound transmission between different spaces, helping to keep unwanted noise out and desired sound in. It involves reducing the impact of airborne noise, such as voices or music, and controlling vibrations caused by heavy machinery or footfalls.
The Benefits of Soundproofing
Soundproofing your home offers a multitude of benefits that can enhance your overall well-being. Here are some of the key advantages: Peace and Quiet: Enjoy a peaceful ambiance free from the disturbances of outside noise, allowing you to relax and unwind without distractions. Improved Sleep: Soundproofing can significantly improve your sleep quality, leading to better health and increased productivity. Privacy: Create a private space where conversations and activities remain confidential, without being overheard by others. Enhanced Focus: If you work or study from home, soundproofing helps you maintain concentration and productivity by eliminating distracting noises. Increased Property Value: Investing in soundproofing can boost your home's market value, making it an attractive feature for potential buyers.
Identifying Sound Leakage Points
Before you begin your soundproofing project, it's crucial to identify the areas where sound leakage occurs. Some common culprits include: Doors: Gaps around doors can allow sound to seep through. Weatherstripping and door sweeps can help address this issue. Windows: Single-pane windows are less effective at blocking sound. Consider upgrading to double or triple-pane windows, or use soundproofing curtains. Walls: Thin walls can be a major source of sound leakage. Adding extra layers of drywall or using acoustic panels can make a significant difference. Flooring: Hard surfaces like hardwood or tile can transmit sound easily. Rugs and carpets can help dampen sound vibrations.
Soundproofing Solutions
Now that we've pinpointed the problem areas, let's explore some effective soundproofing solutions: Acoustic Foam Panels: These panels are excellent for reducing echoes and reverberations in rooms, especially home studios or entertainment spaces. Mass-Loaded Vinyl (MLV): MLV is a dense material that effectively blocks sound transmission. It can be used to line walls, floors, and ceilings. Sealants and Caulks: Use acoustic sealants to fill in gaps and cracks in walls, ceilings, and around windows and doors. Soundproof Curtains and Blinds: These specialized curtains and blinds are designed with noise-reducing materials to minimize sound leakage through windows. Bookshelves and Furniture: Placing bookshelves or heavy furniture against shared walls can act as a barrier to sound transmission.
DIY vs. Professional Installation
When it comes to soundproofing, you have two options: the DIY route or hiring a professional. Consider the following factors: Budget: DIY solutions are often more budget-friendly, but complex soundproofing projects may require professional expertise. Skill Level: Some soundproofing tasks are straightforward and can be handled by any homeowner, while others may demand specific skills and tools. Time: DIY projects may take longer to complete, while professionals can get the job done quickly and efficiently. Conclusion In conclusion, soundproofing your home is a worthy investment that brings numerous benefits. From creating a peaceful haven to improving sleep quality and boosting property value, soundproofing offers a range of advantages that cater to your overall well-being. We hope this guide has shed light on the importance of soundproofing Melbourne and provided you with valuable insights into the various solutions available. Whether you opt for simple DIY fixes or enlist the help of professionals, the result will undoubtedly be a home that exudes tranquility and comfort. As homeowners increasingly prioritise sustainable living, incorporating high-performance insulating glass has become a sought-after solution. With its exceptional thermal insulation properties, this type of glass prevents heat transfer, keeping the interior cool during scorching summers and cosy during chilly winters.
To further bolster energy efficiency, the utilisation of Low-E coatings has gained prominence. These microscopic layers applied to window surfaces minimise heat loss by reflecting radiant heat back into the room while allowing natural light to pass through. This transformational technology not only reduces energy consumption but also provides a tranquil ambiance that fosters relaxation and comfort within your living space.
By embracing these energy-saving techniques, you not only contribute to a greener environment but also enjoy long-term benefits such as reduced utility bills and an enhanced sense of well-being within your home. Homeowners are now opting for window frames with clean lines and thin profiles, allowing for a more modern and sophisticated aesthetic.
These slim designs not only enhance the overall appearance of a home but also offer practical benefits. The reduced frame thickness allows for a larger glass area, maximising natural light intake and providing unobstructed views of the outside world. It creates an immersive experience within your own living space, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.
Imagine waking up to rays of sunlight gently filtering through your thin-framed windows, or enjoying panoramic views of breathtaking landscapes without intrusive window frames obstructing your vision. To create a peaceful sanctuary, soundproofing solutions have become a prominent trend in modern double glazing windows Melbourne design. The key to effective soundproofing lies in the utilisation of laminated glass. This innovative material consists of multiple layers fused together with specialised interlayers, creating an extraordinary acoustic barrier. Laminated glass effectively absorbs and dampens sound vibrations, significantly reducing noise pollution from traffic, construction sites, or any other external disturbances.
Imagine peacefully sipping your morning coffee while overlooking a bustling cityscape without being disrupted by honking cars or blaring sirens. With the advent of soundproof glazing solutions, you can transform your home into an oasis of calm where everyday stressors melt away and tranquillity reigns supreme. Embrace this trend in double glazing window design to experience the blissful harmony that every homeowner deserves.
Trend 4: Maximising Natural Light
Incorporating large glazing panels is a key trend in maximising natural light within your home. These expansive windows allow an abundance of sunlight to flood your living spaces, creating a bright and airy atmosphere that promotes a sense of well-being. Imagine waking up to the gentle warmth of the sun's rays streaming through your floor-to-ceiling windows, rejuvenating you for the day ahead.
To further enhance natural light, innovative window configurations are gaining popularity. Picture unique designs that incorporate skylights, glass walls, or clerestory windows strategically placed to capture the optimal amount of sunlight at different times of the day. These configurations not only bring more natural light into your home but also create stunning visual effects that highlight architectural features and elevate the overall aesthetic.
By harnessing the power of natural light through large glazing panels and innovative window configurations, you can transform your living spaces into vibrant sanctuaries filled with positivity and tranquillity. Embracing this trend will not only enhance the beauty of your home but also contribute to your well-being by connecting you with nature's rejuvenating energy
Exploring Innovative Window Configurations for Better Daylight
Windows are not just functional elements; they can also be artistic statements within a home. By incorporating innovative window configurations, you can create a space that is flooded with natural light, providing both a visually stunning environment and a positive impact on your well-being.
One popular option is the clerestory window, which is placed high on a wall to allow light to enter from above. This unique design not only adds architectural interest but also maximises the amount of daylight that enters the room, creating an uplifting atmosphere throughout the day. Additionally, bay windows with their panoramic views and extended sills offer ample sunlight and provide a cosy nook for relaxation or plant cultivation.
For those seeking privacy without sacrificing natural light, frosted or textured glass windows are ideal choices. These innovative configurations utilise various techniques to diffuse incoming light while maintaining an airy ambiance. From geometric patterns to organic motifs, these artistic touches not only enhance your home's aesthetic but also inspire tranquillity and creativity.

Difference Between Aluminium Single & Double Glazed Windows & Doors
Aluminium windows are immensely popular and recommended the most by architects, designers, and even homeowners who prefer them firsthand. They contribute significantly to make your property energy-efficient, and with aluminium double glazed windows and doors, you can save a good amount of money on electricity bills. Aluminium is preferred because it is recyclable and considered a highly sustainable material used in the construction industry.
DOUBLE GLAZED WINDOWS
Double glazed windows and doors enhance the energy efficiency of any property and regulate thermal insulation. These windows come with two panes of glass fitted with a light space between them. This space is a vacuum and is filled with inert gases like argon. They work wonderfully by trapping heat and preventing its conduction from the indoors to the outdoors and vice versa.
Two glazing options are available for aluminium windows, and the names are "single glazing" and "double glazing".
SINGLE GLAZING
Vendors of awning windows Melbourne and stacking doors and windows say that when there is only a single pane of glass, it is given the name of single glazing. Because there is just one pane, the thermal and noise reduction capacity is reduced considerably. Also, single-glazing compromises in terms of security and safety.
DOUBLE GLAZING
As compared to single-glazed aluminium windows, double glazed windows and doors offer a significant amount of energy efficiency. They do this with the help of two panes of glass separated by a dense layer of inert gases like argon. The benefit of double glazing is the significantly decreased noise pollution and energy efficiency.
Listed below are the advantages of double glazing
ADVANTAGES OF GLAZING
Soundproof your indoors
Enhanced security and safety
Save on high electricity bills
Keep the summer heat at bay
Water-tight
The cavity filled with inert gases absorbs the sound and works as an excellent buffer. It is always recommended to choose double glazing windows and doors as compared to single-glazed options. These windows should be built using high-quality, non-recycled virgin aluminium if you are opting for aluminium windows. The company should use extensive, state-of-the-art technology and keep a strict eye on quality control and deliver only the best. When these features integrate, you will get high-performance, anti-corrosion windows that don't warp, fade or discolour. They will maintain their shape, size and lustre for years to come without requiring too much maintenance.

The Importance of Home Insulation
Are you looking to save money this summer and maybe the winter? If you are noticing uneven temperatures throughout your home and if your HVAC system is overheating, it may be time to check out your insulation. Air leaking in and out of your house is not desirable especially if you are looking to save money and energy. Insulation is a great way to seal up your home so that it stays comfortable and lowers your utility bills.
Why Insulate?
Whether you are considering investing in solar panels, solar water heating, heat pumps or any other green source of energy for your home, the first step you should take is to improve your home’s insulation. This will ensure that you maximize the use of natural resources and don’t waste energy. If you skip this step, you will end up spending a lot of money buying a very powerful system to cover the energy needs of a badly insulated house.
Insulation is one of the most efficient ways to save energy at home since it keeps it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. In fact, the Energy Saving Trust estimates that in one year a typical three-bedroom semi-detached house can save up to £310 on energy bills by installing loft and cavity wall insulation.
This guide will help you understand the importance of home insulation as well as introducing you to the different measures you can choose from to improve your home’s insulation and make it as energy efficient as it can be...visit greenmatch - to know more.
How to Insulate Your Home
If your home isn’t properly insulated, it may get very warm during the summer and cold in the winter. If you want to insulate your home to control the temperature better, there are easy ways to fix the problem. You can easily install insulation in exposed walls and your attic on your own. Many small gaps can also cause drafts and affect the temperature, so sealing those areas can maintain the correct temperature in your home. You may also put insulation in finished walls on your own, it can be more difficult and require training.
Look up the minimum R-value for insulation in your area. The R-value of insulation refers to the insulating power, or thermal resistance, of the insulation you’re buying. The higher the number is for the R-value, the more effective the insulation will be. The R-value you need depends on your climate, the type of heating and cooling system you have, and which part of the house you want to insulate.
Determine the area and stud distance of the area where you’re installing insulation. Measure the length and height of the wall and multiply them together to find the area of the wall. Then measure the distance between 2 of the vertical studs on the wall so you know how wide your insulation needs to be.
Choose batts or foam boards for your walls. Insulation batts are thick pieces of fiberglass or natural fibers that come in rolls or pre-cut strips, and they work best for insulation walls, floors, and ceilings. Insulated foam boards are large panels that work best for foundation walls, floors, and ceilings.
Read more, at - Wiki how.
Why is it Important?
Heating and cooling accounts for up to 50-70 percent of the energy used in an average home. Installing Insulation in your house is the most practical and cost effective way of making your home more energy efficient keeping it warmer in winter and cooler in summer and can save up to 50% on your energy bill. In addition Insulation can also reduce condensation in your home and some types of insulation can make your home more soundproof. A well insulated house is very energy efficient and will need very little additional heating and cooling.
Insulation helps to:
save money on your energy bills
reduce your energy use and lower greenhouse gas emissions
reduce reliance on heating and cooling systems
improve your comfort at home.
The most important part of a house to insulate is the walls which typically lose about 30-40% of heat, the roof comes in second with about 25% heat loss, then windows and doors with 20% and finally the floor.
How much money you will save by insulating your home depends on many different factors like the size of your house and the type of insulation used. In addition if your house is old you will probably have to add more insulation...more at blue design.
Greater energy efficiency, lower energy bills
The value of energy efficiency is obvious: it saves homeowners money on energy bills and reduces power plant CO2 emissions to lower carbon footprints. The benefits aren’t new, but they continue to become more important as energy bills rise. Since 2004, residential electricity prices have jumped 39%.1 In fact, the average homeowner spends $2,200 per year on household energy bills—which is 4% percent of their average pre-tax income.2 By way of comparison, median household property taxes are $2,090 per year.
Homeowners are demanding more
Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important to homeowners. However, there’s generally a disconnect between the energy-efficient features most frequently being offered and those that matter most to home buyers...read more at - insulation institute.

Why Double Glazing Windows can be the best home investment?
If you have ever had to deal with draughty windows and doors, you will know how annoying they can be. The wind is a common problem we all face in the UK when it comes to our windows and doors. It causes them to rattle, which is not only annoying but also very inefficient as far as heating and cooling your home goes. This is where Double Glazing Windows Melbourne comes in.
Silence- Sound Proofing
The second reason why uPVC double glazed windows are better than single glazing is that they are soundproof. Regular windows don't have insulated glass, so when the wind blows or there's a sudden noise outside like a car alarm, you can hear it inside your home. Double Glazing Windows Melbourne reduces the amount of noise by a lot! It's not completely silent but as long as you have closed curtains and/or blinds on the outside of your window then no one will be able to see inside at all either which means you can still enjoy your privacy without having those annoying noises coming in too loud.
It Makes Your Home Valuable
Double glazing is an investment that will add value to your home. It makes your property more appealing to potential buyers, increases the marketability of your house and will increase its value in the future.
If you are thinking about installing double glazing, there are several things you should know. You will need to get quotes from several different companies, compare their prices and find out what they offer in terms of warranties and guarantees.
Save On Bills
Energy saving is an important aspect to consider, and with the right double glazing you can save a lot of money. Double-glazed units reduce heat loss by 50% compared to single-glazed windows. This means that, on average, you could be losing up to £100 per year from your energy bills as a result of having old windows! The good news is that it’s really easy to get this money back by upgrading your home’s windows. In addition, uPVC has excellent thermal properties which prevent heat gain through your window frames during summer months while keeping out unwanted noise in winter.
Conclusion
After reading this blog post, you should have a better understanding of how Double Glazing Windows Melbourne works to help reduce noise and heat in your home.
This makes it an ideal option for anyone looking to save money on energy bills or make their property more valuable. It’s also good for the environment because it uses less material than traditional windows do.
Plus, there are so many varieties available that you should have no problem finding one that fits your needs perfectly!

Enough to make one’s blood boil, right? The question is how? The answer to this is acoustics. As acoustic experts in Melbourne, we know how unwanted noises could obstruct your peace, and to save you from such troubles we recommend noise control or residential soundproofing through acoustics.
Acoustic options to consider for noise control at your home.
1. Opt for Acoustic tiles made of sound-absorbing materials.
2. Consider acoustic flooring materials like vinyl tiles, carpets, rubber flooring, etc.
3. Soundproof your doors, pool pump.
4. Double glaze your windows to prevent excessive noise penetration.
2. Help reduce the repercussions of noise pollution.
Today, the entire world is struggling with noise pollution and the repercussions of it are endless. While measures are being taken across the world to control it, as acoustic experts in Melbourne, we believe that we all can do our bit to secure ourselves against noise pollution by engaging in the right acoustics.
How can acoustic help on this front?
1. The health consequences of aircraft noise are numerous. As per medical science, constant exposure to aircraft noise increases the risk of heart diseases and high blood pressure. Here, proper acoustics could protect you from such troubles. And this is exactly why soundproofing an airport is of utmost importance.
2. Unwanted noise reduces the quality of your life by inducing sleeping troubles and anxiety. Acoustics could help keep such noises at bay. Especially at hospitals where noise could lead to further deterioration of patients’ condition.
3. With excess noise comes the possibility of hearing impairment. So, protect your ears against such noises to the maximum extent with acoustics.
3. Cinema acoustic for a better experience.
Acoustics not only prevents unwanted noises from entering an indoor setting but also prevents the outflow of noise. And in places of entertainment like theatres and cinema halls, such a system is of utmost importance. Imagine watching a movie in a cinema hall and hearing the sounds from the adjacent hall or going to an opera and being disturbed by the sound of another performance. Would you even want to go to that place again? That’s why cinema halls and other such places invest a lot in acoustics meant for sound isolation. Also, if the blasting sound of speakers from a theatre makes it to the outside world, several legal problems would come running to you.
4. Acoustics promote overall productivity in the workplace.
Imagine having to work in an environment filled with unwanted noises of all kinds. Imagine giving a presentation in a conference room and being disturbed by the noise outside. Such an atmosphere doesn’t have an ideal workplace ring to it. Does it? These noises impact your overall productivity and lead to stress, dissatisfaction, and lower concentration levels. Therefore, as acoustic experts in Melbourne, we believe that for employee satisfaction and greater levels of productivity at any organization investing in proper acoustics is a good option.
Interesting Fact: Did you know that acoustic witness experts are consulted to solve cases involving sound?

Returning to the geographic wellspring of what we’ve dubbed Marvellous Migrant Modern Melbourne! Today, we are thrilled to get a peek at a super glam do-up of a local landmark.
This post-war townhouse, within a complex of two, was designed and constructed around Melbourne’s bold Olympic blush of 1956, where newly arrived faces with dynamic minds began to carve out their own place in the city. Though the architect as is as yet unknown, this startling example of international modernist architecture built for European sensibilities was purchased by the present owner from the original ten years ago. They immediately set to work on a renovation that would marry contemporary elements with a celebration of local heritage.
Beginning with the oft overlooked grit of rewiring, plumbing and a demolition of a tired 80s kitchen, they turned up the dial on the light-filled and generous spaces with new cork, bold tile, crafted joinery and lovely furniture pieces. Each decision guided by the mid-century motifs and materials of the original residence, from the triangular etchings in the entry doors to the daring pop of colour in the stairwell.
Underpinning it all is the lifestyle of a city-dweller. This is a home to gather friends (one day soon people, hold on!) to enjoy the sun at all hours, as well as becoming a soundproof nest for quiet Sunday comedowns or an easy Tuesday meal.
As such, it is a real ‘townhouse’. Its utilisation of space, material and design offers an elegant, medium-density option for a lifetime, a far cry from so many plaster and foam, profit-driven piles of thoughtlessness we see filling the spaces of once huge, green, urban allotments.
So, kudos to the owner and their vision, for we know this long-awaited appreciation and respect for such historical brilliance now grows steadily by the day.
2/5 Northwood Road, Caulfield North will be sold via auction on Sunday, October 24th at 11:00am. See the listing here.
