　There is something fundamentally flawed and deeply wrong about Will Graham. If not the odd and peculiar way his mind worked—something off-centered and skewed towards the grotesque; something that made him suspended in isolation, so naturally it made sense to him and everyone around him that he didn’t have a soulmate. He had never questioned it. Not even when the prime age of finding one’s soulmate long since passed him by. He didn’t have one. He couldn’t. Not with his mind the way it was.

You can imagine his reaction when the world around him erupts in color. First a vibrant startling red —— poetically and rightfully the color of blood, of life, and of how his world was now aflame. He had made his peace with solitude so he didn’t welcome any of the following colors to sprout and burst into life alongside the crimson of Faust’s glasses. He hated it, truthfully; as it had no explanation and made absolutely no sense. Will had zero capacity to have a soulmate and even less desire. He wasn’t just uncomfortable but horrified. It was the rudest of awakenings.

And it was unfair for Faust. He deserved someone not so broken, someone far more capable.

His tongue dances on the roof of his mouth to catch and swallow back his immediate and harsh no. Will’s eyes fluttered and he tenses. Nothing would really aid in making this easier. Maybe when the shock has worn off he could try to reason with it. Two very oddly wired brains finding one another might seem romantic to some but for Will? It’s just unsettlingly unexpected.

“It’s not that——the colors, they’re harsh but not horrible.” They often gave him a headache. The harsh color when he was so used to monochrome. Like Faust had literally become a sun that painted vibrancy into his life. Unwelcomed. “I just was under the assumption that… I didn’t have a soulmate. That I’d be alone. It’s extremely rare and unheard of it to reach my age without finding one. So, I made my peace. And now? I don’t really know how to undo that.”

Synopsis: Everyone is born with a soulmate. Everyone knows by the time they hit age 18, a different kind of soulmate mark will appear. Some are unable to see color until they meet their soulmates gaze, others have matching tattoos. These are the more common ones; ones that can be tracked down in history but others are rare. So rare that there’s rarely any information available about it. Rare like yours and the only case of this soulmarking was dated decades ago with only two lines describing it.

"Person A and Person B afflicted by this marking will discover themselves to be covered in string-like tattoo markings in certain areas. These areas are what the soulmate A or B deem unworthy of themselves; or rather, what they hate about themself."

This wouldn't be a problem for you if it wasnt for the fact that everything from the collarbone to your ankles was decorated in white string-like lines.

So back story is:

Shiloh has joined the SBR to ensure he keeps his inheritance from his dead grandparents. Won't go into too much detail as I don't feel like tagging or censoring, but Shiloh's dad is an abusive POS. All he wants is to buy some land far away from his home and have a little farm of his own. He's the oldest of 5 siblings. He is from Texas, iirc Dallas, to be specific? Or at least the Dallas area.

I am still working on the details on meeting Johnny and Gyro. But I'm vibing with Gyro approaches Shiloh at a checkpoint bar. He sees Shiloh sitting all by himself, and Shiloh is what we would call a "pretty boy" in looks. So naturally, Gyro is drawn to him... though later, Gyro reveals he felt literally drawn to Shiloh. As if they were meant to meet each other. (Yes, ShiYro has the soulmates dynamic that plays in every AU)

Shiloh is a tsundere, and while yes, he too feels drawn to Gyro. He immediately blows him off. I suppose I could make it where Gyro vaguely invites Shiloh to join him and Johnny. That sounds like a possible thing he'd do.

Heading into now, Gyro hc territory: So this came from my friend, but Gyro writes home. He loves his family dearly. So when he meets Shiloh and starts doing this race with him and getting to spend time with him. He writes home about how much he loves and adores this man.

Anyways, gotta drop this factoid somewhere: Gyro knows Shiloh is AFAB not because of his "medical" background but because of him accidentally walking in on Shiloh mid shower/bath. He never treated Shiloh any different after learning this fact, nor did he ever tell anyone Shiloh's secret. This put Gyro on good terms with Shiloh. He knew he could definitely trust Gyro after that incident.

Later on, Gyro tells Shiloh why he's doing this race and Shiloh's reasoning for being in this race change. He chooses to actively help Gyro win first place. He wants to bring Marco to America so that they all can become a family. Centurion of the Iron Legion, Warmaster of the Vigil, Commander of the Pact, and founder of Dragon's Watch. The main story gal, and surprisingly normal despite all that. Kind, strong-willed, and a lover of all animals, but especially her smokescale, Snips. Firmly retired after the events of EoD, and enjoying a long and well-earned vacation.

GAVROS SCROLLSEEKER // Guardian - Firebrand // [tag]

Esteemed Magister of the Durmand Priory. Once a fearless explorer, delving the unknown in pursuit of magical artifacts, he now prefers the comfortable life of the research division. An avid scholar, he's never found without a book (or three) in hand. Despite his years, he's still quite the sharp combatant, happy to dole out his finely-aged wisdom at the end of a mace.

FELIX LIGHTFORGE // Engineer - Holosmith // [tag]

A misfit soldier of the Blood Legion, and later the Pact. Born with physical defects that would have seen him cast aside if not for the support of his warband. To overcome his perceived weakness, he devoted himself to studying holosmithing techniques, building his own Photon Forge as well as a set of light-powered mobility aids.

SOREX GRAVEWHISPER // Necromancer - Reaper // [tag]

A grousy old necromancer. After losing her warband to a ghost ambush, she became fixated on harnessing the Foefire for herself, and was banished from the Legions for unapproved tampering with spectral magic. She now spends her days hunting down ghosts and exploring ancient ruins with her soulmate, Vitalis.

VEDRIX RUINWRAITH // Thief - Deadeye // [tag]

Ex-Ash Legion. Part of a special warband tasked with hunting down and eliminating Legion traitors, deserters, and other undesirables on the quiet. Eventually he found himself on the wrong side of a job, and rather than become hunted himself, went into hiding. He ended up in Elona, where he took up a living as a freelance bounty hunter. Years later, he still has a massive chip on his shoulder regarding his former bosses.

DECIMA SPIRESOUL // Revenant - Renegade // [tag]

Once a disabled gladium, discarded by the Legions after nearly-fatal battle injuries left her no longer fit to serve their purposes. Her scrape with death caused her to develop strange magics, driving her into seclusion for many years. Now, she serves the Dominion as a formidable Centurion of the Frost Legion. Eager to enact retribution on those who cast her aside, her heart is as cold as the frigid magic that suffuses her body.

LIFEBINDER RANUK // Ranger - Druid // [tag]

A wandering Olmakhan healer, with a special interest in rare plants. He is extremely adverse to combat, relying on the strength of his pets and defensive nature magic to escape dangerous situations. Despite this, he is often found deep in the wilds of Tyria, braving the unknown to get even a glimpse at a unique specimen.

SANDSHAPER URIAH // Necromancer - Scourge // [tag]

An elderly Olmakhan shaman, one of many charr killed in an Awakened attack on Althoma. His body was taken and later raised as a part of Joko's army, made to fight against his own kin in the Battle of Gandara. Now free of the lich's influence, he lives as a lonely hermit in the Kournan desert, too tormented by the guilt of what he'd done to return home.
