Is venture bros worth watching? heard about it for many years but somehow allways in the background as if it was far away...
Depends. I’m not sure it’s a show that works for everyone, but for the people who DO like it? Very enjoyable. I think it largely depends on the content you’re okay with.
Like dark humor? Humor that gets gross or uncomfortable or offensive? If so, you’ll like this. I wouldn’t describe it as a show that runs solely off of potty humor or shock value though; genuinely, there is some clever writing in Venture Bros. That said, it’s still an adult cartoon with a lot of vulgarity, and definitely has a “push the envelope/what can we get away with” style.
Another factor to consider here: Venture Bros. parodies and references A LOT of different media. Pretty much every character is based off of some specific trope, classic character, or even a song. The core cast of characters are a big riff off of Johnny Quest, the Hardy Boys, macho spy tropes, G.I. Joe, and the superhero genre. And that’s just naming a few. That said, I don’t think you HAVE to know that stuff to enjoy the show. The basic idea is that Venture Bros. takes beloved icons of classic American media (usually of the more nerdy or “vintage” variety) and asks “okay, but what if there were consequences? What if we made this darker? What if we pointed out how silly this is? What if we went to the logical conclusion?” And so on.
That said, Venture Bros. Also has an emotional core. This is apparent in the first season, and even more visible in later episodes. It’s a labor of love directed at all the media it parodies. Although each character is wacky in some way and— with a few exceptions— usually a terrible person, there are grounded moments, and motivations that actually feel human. Most viewers eventually become emotionally invested in these characters. I’d say this factor even makes the humor better!
An example of this, and an overly sentimental way to reframe the series, is this: Venture Bros. is about Rusty Venture— a former “boy adventurer” who was traumatized and molded by all the crazy stuff his awful but successful father put him through— and Rusty’s sons, who are forced into being boy adventurer themselves. Other characters are— for better or worse— pulled into the family’s destructive and wacky orbit. Everyone is still affected by the “legacy” that Venture Sr. left behind.
And also there are funny jokes.

One thing im confused about is the entire changeling thing in soul eater. (Blair)
We were introduced to changelings in the first episode/chapter when Maka and Soul thought she was a witch. But then like,,, we know changelings exist but it was never further explored to my knowledge? Like it's just Blair? Why are changelings so similar to witches?? They can change into animals and have magic powers?? What makes a changeling so different from a witch? And why is Blair legit the only changeling we know?
Am I being dumb bc Istg I've been thinking about this for a long time

Nobody voting for Kid in the Breakdancing poll is criminal smh, he literally is a skater allready and pulls out freaky fighting moves all the time, his reaper biology would probably allow him to spin 8 hours straight

Small Hiatus incoming
So, with the posting of the last chapter of the little Patty side adventure arc (which took as long as the whole "Amber Chamber" lol, just imagine that it's a movie) it's time to conduct my plan: Basically, I wanted to get rid of "distractions" or better said, just try to unscatter my brain, by not focusing on twenty projects at once - so I can finally put all my brain power to the promised iceberg (which will get updates on @not-souleaterpost But, as delegating a whole account to it shows, this is not the time to talk about some stupid youtube video that will get taken down to copyright infringment - but the comic.
So do I have more to say? Well a bit - basically, I think the time off will help me also restructure some thoughts, and actually decide more exact placements of events in future chapters. Cause I'm not making this shit as I go along, I got many plans, but just haven't decided on the exact details.
So let's spice it up with a poll. Do you (the two people reading) prefer that a charachter gets a whole storyline for themselves all at once, or should I just cut to somebody for one chapter regularly, so it's allways gets switched up and if one doesn't care for a charachter, they don't have to endure 7 chapters of meandering (as I fear some people felt with this arc lol)
Anyways, thanks for the support, especially for @an-archaic-archivist, who somehow liked the latest chapter 10 seconds after me publishing it lol, but to everyone else, even if you just read it with disgust, I ain't picky with my audience lol. So yeah, as a preview expect some slice of life chapters to chill out and show the main cast again, Crona and Soul making a shitty bandcamp album, an evil crow and maybe even what Kim and the other runaways are up to...

Thoughts on Ohkubo's "new artsyle" for Soul Eater one can see in the new artbook/art gallery thing? To me, in general I didn't really vibe with the style in his twitter doodles, but, being allways the contrarian, I actually kinda get what he's going for when looking at the gallery anouncment art and the cover for the artbook. Still it isnt my favorite style by far, but I also think it has some merit, so I was wondering how others feels - besides the consensus of it "sucking" lol
Okay, just looked it up and, honestly, I’m not super into it, but I understand that artists generally shift their style over time. Some of it looks a little creepy— not in a way I like, unfortunately— but we all know he’s a talented artist who can draw in a lot of different styles, so I’ll count it a win that he drew some Soul Eater stuff at all.
That said, I couldn’t find many pictures of his new style, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. If I see any more of it I’ll probably have a firmer opinion.

Drew some art for chapter 8 of the fancomic “Soul Eater Post.” Didn’t plan it out as much as I probably should’ve (sorry to Maka and her lazy scythe form) but I like the colors.
For anyone interested in the original comic, here’s the link below. It’s a really fun anime continuation that gives all of the characters some time to shine, especially Crona, Maka, and Soul in the beginning.

Did Ohkubo try to steal One Piece's plot twist thunder?
souleaterpostanime submitted to soul-dwelling:
A bit scatterbrained and deranged, but maybe interesting to people disapointed with Fire Force and caught up with One Piece https://www.tumblr.com/not-souleaterpost/731706486699524096/fire-force-as-a-one-piece-ending-prediction?source=share
Scatterbrained and deranged? No.
A convincing argument? While I don’t think Ohkubo anticipated what Oda was going to do and wasn’t trying to intentionally do a twist before One Piece could, yes, I do think it’s a convincing argument that One Piece could end up in a similar spot where Fire Force ended up by, as the original post’s author says, common tropes and cultural osmosis.
Is this what I want to happen in One Piece? God no.
This is my own pet peeve, my own irritation, not at all against the original post’s author, because I think their idea makes sense and is a logical conclusion based on the evidence.
But, again, pet peeve, I am so tired of the storytelling choice of, “It was our world all along, just changed in the distant past.”
I am fine with a story just being its own setting, it doesn’t have to connect to our real-world history.
I know that is a very particular, trivial complaint to make, as there are so many stories that work as “our world, but something happened in the past to bring us to this point” (something akin to Mad Max), versus stories that I don’t think work as well taking that approach (Planet of the Apes, Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics, Thundercats) when the better approach is usually just “it’s like our world but it’s not our world, just go with it” (Fullmetal Alchemist manga).
