Retro: What was the first CD they ever bought with their own money? Do they still have it? Do they still like it?

Hmmm so I’m not sure whether this would definitely be hir first, but I’m going to say Rascal Flatt’s album Me And My Gang. I could see Hedwig playing it loud when hir parents weren’t home and belting along to What Hurts The Most and crying hir eyes out without being able to identify why. It’s a breakup song, but for Hedwig it really worked with hir pain at being home alone so much (“What hurts the most / Was being so close / And havin' so much to say / And watchin' you walk away” and “Not seeing that love in you / That’s what I was trying to do”).

I feel like Hedwig still has a copy of the album, even if it's not the original. The original probably got destroyed scratched up or stepped on or something from hir playing it so much and not having the careful hands of an adult yet. I'm not sure whether ze still likes the music... probably? Probably one of those things where you don't listen to a song for five years and then play it fifty times in two days.

Voice: What does their singing voice sound like? Do you have voiceclaims(s) for them? 

Yessss YEEESSSSSSS. I’m so glad someone asked me this one! I don't know the technical terminology for this stuff, but hir voice is very smooth and evocative and has a lot of range in the notes ze can hit. I like to imagine ze gives people chills. The other day I spent so much time trying to figure out Hedwig's voice, so this is very specific, but I imagine hir voice as some combination of:

Adam Lambert (early years), like in his cover of “Ring of Fire”

Cher (recent years), like in her cover of “Fernando” for Mamma Mia

and Dimash Qudaibergen, like in his cover of “S.O.S. d’un terrien en détresse”

Their male friends won’t seem to really be against you two dating, but I get strongly that they might be a bit paranoid because they think you’re a bit too secretive.

They worry that you might be like one of your partner��s exes (probably got cheated on before meeting you). I’m not saying they will immediately think you’re a cheater (some of them might assume that tho), but they’re rather careful with you. They will think you’re a chill one though. They might approach you with a high level of curiosity and you might find them a bit nosy in your relationship, especially if your partner is a male. If your partner is a male I see them constantly texting him asking how’s the relationship with you. It’s ridiculous haha. Later on I think they’ll understand that you might only be a bit mysterious out of anxiety. They’ll like you after 3 months or so, don’t worry. They’ll know you’re a good one and won’t feel like needing to get into your relationship anymore.

The boys will know you don’t want to break this person apart like the last one did, and they will let their guards down and will support your person’s decision on marrying you/being with you. If your person is a female I’d say that some of her friends will see you as competition because they might’ve already liked her but were afraid to approach her.

Your persons female friends will be a lot more chill than their male friends. I feel like your person doesn’t have many female friends and the ones they have are most likely from their childhood, so they seem to trust your person with their judgement. Perhaps they’ve already asked their female friends what they think of you or if you’re worth a try and they said “yeah sure”.

Their female friends seem to notice that you really click with what your person is looking for and they will be very friendly towards you. With the Queen of Pentacles here I get that they will think you’re someone aesthetically pleasant and trust worthy, loyal and generally nice and beautiful. I see them complimenting you a lot, your person too. They see you as someone with many positive attributes and someone full of creativity. You are also very kind and very nice.

As I said, their female friends seem to be very open to meeting you and they will want to be bridesmaids at y’all’s wedding for sure. If your person is a female then I see them chatting a lot about you on a friend group and I see all of them saying “he’s/she’s the one for X”. Their male friends will think you’re someone who has relatively a hurtful past and they will try to be easy on you. I feel like their friends dated a lot and they have experience with your typology of people. They will be extremely friendly towards you and they won’t make you uncomfortable or they won’t get into your relationship like the boys from Pile 1 will. I feel like they will know you’ll be your person’s last one and they won’t worry about you. They might have religious friends (I’ve just heard) and you might have the same views as some of them.

I’ve heard that you will remind one of them about their ex. That person could’ve cheated on their ex. For a minority of you I get that you will meet your person through your ex and like, you will already know your person because your ex has already introduced you to them and your person realized that what their dumbass friend did was extremely shitty. Here pain is somehow tied to the relationship between you guys. So anyway, their male friends will be totally be fine with you and they won’t doubt your feelings towards your person. They’re gonna just go with the flow like you will.

You get along very well. I feel like you’re gonna want to hang out with them friendly, nothing else. They will realize your person carries a significant amount of comfort which they offer you.

Their girl friends seem to empathize with you and understand what was going through your mind when you’ve chosen your person. They will see you as a hardworking person, who’s a very good thinker. I feel like they will notice you might be onto the more reserved side and won’t want to scare you away with their bluntness.

They will accept you as if you’d be in their friend group. I feel like they won’t expect you to be the way you are. Maybe your person has been dating the complete opposite than the way you are. For others of you I get that they might’ve thought your person is gay and might’ve faced a shock seeing they date someone of the opposite gender😂 There’s a chance that your person is pretty emotional and they will be very open to share their emotions with you and their girl friends will be like “why weren’t you crying with us?”.

For some reason my ovaries hurt so perhaps your person is someone with a lot of sex drive and their friends might’ve think that they’re interested in your only to have sex with you (that’s some bullshit). Your person will guard you seriously when they’ll see that one/two of their friends are interested in you and might even not want you to talk to them anymore, but yeah, you will hand out with their friends and go to parties together if you’re the type. Y’all probably have some fire into your charts. Their friends seem to be onto the taller side so if you’re short, you might be a bit intimidated by them. Some of their friends might be rockers and might dress a bit like punks but they’ll probably be the nicest to you. The ones who won’t flirt with you will actually be very friendly to you and you will most likely have common tastes in music and common opinions. I feel like you will get drunk around them many times knowing they won’t do anything inappropriate

Jesus Christ holy shit, the amount of duality here is incredible 😭 Their friends will either love you a lot either hate you to death. I feel like half of them will have a huge amount of hate towards you and you’re relationship with your person and the other half will be fangirling and hoping you guys stay together forever.

The ones who will hate your relationship are most likely people from the past who still like them and are mad because they didn’t shoot their shot at the right time and are now extremely jealous of your relationship with your person. This hateful half will be like “I hope y’all go broke and live under a bridge”, toxic bitches lmao. You’ll literally be the person who stop their crush. The other half, on the other hand, seems very supportive and happy for you. They will want to hang out and talk to you a lot. They’ll want to know you to a T. Very loving.

They will want to be there for you and support you and make sure you’re safe. If you’re a male, they seem to totally like you, like, you’re one of us kind of love. They will feel like you’re making their friend happy and this is what matters. Nothing else matters. I feel like they’ve been talking about you to their friends quite a lot and their friends got to know a lot about you.

While some of them are bros before hoes, the rest will be more like “oh cool man, glad she’s/he’s nice👍” and much more open to you. They’re going to feel like you’re making their friend more open and more outgoing and won’t see this as a fail or as something bad. They will be very neutral regarding y’all’s relationship. When the song started playing I got this image of a girl crying in the bathroom asking herself “how did time fly so fast?”. I sense that they might’ve had a best friend since childhood and she doesn’t have any romantic feelings for your person, but is rather sad because she can’t believe how fast life and childhood went and how they met you. It’s like she just blinked and your person met you.

This girl will be a bit anxious and will try to spend as much time with your person as possible. You are the only pile which I feel like will marry young. I feel like you will move into their city/country and you’re going to meet your person there. Their female friends are very cerebral. They really value logic. Yeah, their girl friends will see that you’re someone who can teach people a lot and has experience in life. When the World came in the song said FINALLY, so perhaps they waited for your person to meet someone like you(?). Perhaps all their partners were people with who they’ve wasted their time and those female friends are relieved to see that they finally found something good for themselves.

Those girls might even look up to you, I get that they wish they were as blunt as you are. I feel like you’re going to teach them a lot in the future and they’re almost grateful that your person has met you. They will see that you’re not like the others in general, that you’re someone who knows what you’re capable of. I feel like you might come out of a heartbreak before meeting your person and those girls would like to talk to you about it. Trying to heal those things like they’re close friends. Oh gosh, Lynda’s songs... Well La Centenaire is literally one my top five favourite songs of all times and all languages I think, standing side by side with with giants such a The Show Must Go On or Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) in my personal wall of fame. It’s just so beautifully written (C’est que je suis avide/Mais qu’y a plus rien à mordre/C’est qu’mon passé déborde/Et qu’mon avenir est vide 😭😭), and addressing such an universal topic: what’s the point of living old if that’s in a world that is no longer yours, where everyone you’ve known is already gone? I can’t help thinking about my grandmother who’s turned 92 this year and whose mindset is definitely getting closer to this song every year.

And the song in itself is absolutely beautiful, the piano theme, the little violin arpeggi, Lynda’s voice at its finest bringing so much intensity to it, especially for an acoustic song... To me it’s just a masterpiece with a rare degree of perfection and I cry every time I listen to it because it’s beauty in pure form 😭❤️

And ugh, Les Deux hommes is basically La Centenaire’s little sister, a beautiful, beautiful acoustic melody and pure poetry, heartbreaking lyrics about same-sex parents facing homophobia... It makes me cry a lot too (btw thank you no thank you for this ask, anon, I listened to them both in a row to write that reply, and now I need a minute. Or two. Heck, make it an hour, okay?)

All right, all right, La Marmaille is nice, but how about I counterattack on the motherhood field with Si Je Ne Te Fais Pas d’Enfant, then ? 💔 (L’amour peut bien durer longtemps mais un enfant ça dure toujours, gah, she has her ways with words, huh?)

And oh, I didn’t know Les Maudits Français, this one belongs to the Funny!Lynda side, kinda reminds me of Les Souliers Verts which is the first song I’ve heard from her (pretty sure that was her first hit in France?) and which made me laugh so much back then 😂 (not for the story itself which is rather sad, but the lyrics are just sooooo funny and inventive)

Well, I’d say that if you know Starmania, c’est l’essentiel!!! 😍😍 I don’t necessarily find Berger’s music particularly fitting of an HPI mood, I guess that Message personnel kinda fits any bittersweet-angsty shippy situation?
