i don't even like, disagree with this person on the (implicit) opinion that the movies could stand to be more plot- and character-centered but you really are going to soup store looking for clothes idk what to tell you. maybe it's time to join the devastated legion of starved idiots seeking those rare crumbs of halfway-decent fanfiction

one of the funnier opinions in that thread (designed for highly controversial opinions, exceedingly few of which escaped milquetoast range) was that the movies only exist as a carrier to deliver fight scenes.

Alright I'm not one to talk about drama more than once because I just really don't like to interact with that sorta thing, but there's been an update that's almost comical in how it was handled

Basically this guy on twitter, Jay, essentially created an account either today or in the last two days, then posted a PDF saying a bunch of stuff that boiled down to "Nuh-uh, it's not our fault you didn't ask to be paid and also we definitely didn't do those things you said, this is all YOUR fault"

And literally only showed screenshots that corroborated their story, which could EASILY fall apart once the other party shows screenshots that show the other half of it

(I would recommend reading the PDF for yourself btw because that's about all the detail I'm gonna give on it here)

Then he logged into the Quackity Studios account specifically to follow this obvious burner account and retweet the PDF (Only for someone else I assume, to just straight-up delete the retweet pretty soon after, because it's not there now)

And THEN, the person who originally brought this whole thing up made a response doing EXACTLY that thing I said before (Showing the other screenshots that the PDF didn't show because it wouldn't match their story)

AND THEN JUST CASUALLY THREW IN A "Oh and btw, I have NO clue who this Jay person is"

The absolute irony here is that this guy could've been waved off as some rando, if he hadn't specifically logged into the Quackity Studios twitter to interact with his account. But instead he did exactly that, which 100% confirms that there are people on the admin team who are aware of what's going on, and are actively trying to cover it up, even trying to downplay it to the current members of the Admin Team. They literally just added credibility to the Whistleblower's statements

There's just something about the fact that this guy is obviously pretty frantic in trying to cover up what's going on. It's almost funny to me in that it has absolutely failed and will inevitably backfire (And technically already has a bit) because it's just so obvious that this was all done incredibly hastily. Like he's scrambling to do damage control now before he can get found out. Which again, only serves to prove he has something to hide

seeing how the md confessions orbit seems to be on a sorta nuzi vs envy kick i guess ill just kinda say my peace on it for the hell of it.

with the way i interpret it, nuzi and envy are/were both canon, but in different eras and ways. envy was a sort of childhood crush type of deal, during the mansion days. maybe it could've became something more, but due to the events and circumstances that happened with the solver it just wasn't possible. i think n's crush on v from the pilot was either a remnant of the mansion days shining through or a meta setup for it, kinda like how that one drawing from under the floorboards in cabin fever seemed to be setup for the tessa skinsuit reveal in ep 7.

and nuzi is the current one obviously, the relationship both uzi and n are trying to save from the same ending that n and v had while in the manor. i dont think i really need to go in depth on nuzi and its dynamic and such, its been done dozens of times. and i might not necessarily be a big nuzi OR envy fan but i can easily see the merits to both ships, they're both neat! both relationships were able to convince me that theres actually a world where uzi n and v are remotely straight so i think they deserve some merit for that

Menophilia | Size Difference | Heartbeat (Ian/Damien)

I wrote this one while listening to TXT's new album (stream Freefall y'all!!!)

What Ian didn't expect when he came in for Beopardy that day was to have his wrist held down against the table. He also didn't expect to like it. Damien apologized for it a smile on his face and Ian fought the flush that threatened to show. He hadn't realized how strong he was holding it down so easily even when he wasn't going to guess. And as he was reviewing the footage for upload he couldn't believe how tiny he looked compared to him. He was only a hair taller than him but much broader arms practically twice his size and he couldn't help but invade Ian's space already practically hanging off the table. He couldn't stop the thrill that went through him at that.

He tried not to think about it but when he talked to Damien his brain would keep getting distracted staring at his chest and his arms until he apologized and asked him to repeat himself. Which he obliged (of course he did) but would ask if he was okay afterwards which he brushed off as probably not getting enough sleep. He didn't know why he couldn't stop thinking about it couldn't stop thinking about his hand on him his frame dwarfing his own... But it was getting on his nerves. What made it worse was that stupid character he did during a Let's Do This opening a can of beer without the tab with just his hands. He swallowed thickly eyes darting away. Fuck-

"Hey you seem distracted lately everything okay?" Damien asked gently, concerned after the shoot. Ian mentally cursed himself but he put on a smile waving his hand dismissively.

"Yeah I'm fine just a lot of stuff on my mind," he said which it wasn't completely a lie. Him and Anthony were so close to getting Smosh back and that was definitely on his mind. But so was Damien. He gave him a face that showed he didn't really believe him.

"Well you know you can always come to talk to me about anything alright?" he said sincerely. Anything? Ian thought for a moment. Maybe he could just talk to him about it like an adult. He sighed.

"Could you uh... Come to my office later after you're done filming?" he asked nervously.

"Sure thing dawg," Damien said with a smile. He looked at phone and his eyes widened. "Shit. Speaking of filming I gotta go. Talk to you later." And he was gone leaving Ian to his own thoughts once more. He paced his little office trying to distract himself but he couldn't really focus on anything nerves on edge. Could he really talk to him about it? What if he thought he was weird? He was his boss after all... Maybe he should keep his mouth shut and just deal with it like he dealt with everything before: pushing it down and pretending it never existed leaving it for future Ian to deal with. He was taken out of his thoughts by a knock on his door.

"Come in," he said and the door opened. Damien stepped in closing the door behind him.

"So you wanted to talk to me about something?" Shit- he hadn't made up his mind yet. He took a deep breath.

"Yeah uh... Let's sit on the couch," he said gesturing to the couch on the far side of his office. They sat and he fidgeted with his hands not even knowing how to start this damn conversation. He could feel Damien's warmth from the other side of the couch and tried to ignore it to clear his mind. "So you know that episode of Beopardy we filmed recently?" He nodded. "Well you know during the last question and you uh... Grabbed my wrist?"

"Yeah I do I'm sorry about that I didn't know what I was thinking," he said face flushed pink. Huh? "I hope I didn't hurt you." Ian shook his head.

"No not at all in fact I-" he hesitated, nervous. "I kinda... Sorta... Liked it," he said the last part almost inaudibly. Damien blinked at him.

"Uh... What was that?" he asked. He could've sworn he heard he liked it but he had to make sure. Ian groaned.

"I liked it," he said face red with embarrassment.

"Oh," was all he replied. Well that wasn't what Ian expected but he looked at him to see him looking at him with curious eyes. Oh.

"And another thing... When the hell did you get so big?" he asked jokingly hoping to lighten the mood. He knew it happened gradually which is why he never caught it but now his eyes were back on his arms and broad chest once more.

"Why do you like that too?" Damien asked bluntly with a smirk and Ian's breath caught in his throat almost choking on it.

"... Maybe," he said softly looking down. Then he felt a hand on his chin lifting up to meet his eyes.

"No need to feel embarrassed. Everybody has their kinks. And I can't exactly say I don't like it either," he said gently. He felt like his eyes were burning into him but he couldn't move away. "So what is it hmm? Like feeling small? Or overpowered?" Ian gulped.

"Both," he said softly. Damien chuckled. His hand left his chin moving to his wrist as his other grabbed his other one. He gripped them tightly pushing him back into the couch. Ian gasped looking up at him as he smiled down at him.

"Is this alright?" he asked but Ian could barely think. The grip on his wrists felt nice and he liked how he felt dwarfed by his frame arms flexed as they held his wrists. He finally found it in himself to nod and he moved to hold both his wrists with one hand as he gripped his thighs spreading it for him to slide between. They were pressed groin to groin and he chuckled. "Oh you really like this," he said as he felt his hard-on pressed against him. He whimpered, eyes looking everywhere but him. He ground against him and he gasped hands curling into fists. He looked down seeing how spread his legs had to be accommodated him groaning and throwing his head back.

"Fuck-" he groaned and Damien tutted.

"Such a dirty mouth," he chuckled grinding again. He used his free hand to undo his jeans pressing his hand inside and gripping his cock. "Awe you're so cute," he cooed as his hand almost covered it completely. He stroked it running his thumb over the tip capturing the precum there and spreading it around. Ian shook with it trying to wiggle free to no avail. He kept stroking him languidly as he pressed his own hard on against his ass and he groaned pressing down against it. OOhhh Your Cannibal AU fic was very neat to read!! It's nice to see more insight into Rin, her thoughts, and her observations even if they're not entirely reliable. (I see u Rin, pointing out your apathy and lack of person, all the while feeling splashes of emotion and flashes of person-hood that contradict that... We see you!!!) Love the "what-if" type of feelings regarding Minato as well; logically, he likely wouldn't survive if he's not been drinking or eating for weeks, but then the storm passed days later after eating him... Could he have survived if they waited longer? Were his injuries really that bad? Was there some solution Rin could've thought of to help him, had she not been so apathetic? Was he comatose from an infection, and effectively living-dead the very moment that kunai lodged itself deeper into his spine, and nothing could've been done from the start? What-if....................

It's also really, REALLY funny to me just HOW EASILY her other teammates were on-board to start eating Minato, with very little prompting too! I'm not too sure if that's just because the Shinobi world in general is kinda blasé about that sorta thing, or if the entire team's moral compass is just super esoteric... It's probably the latter honestly! Rin did seem to feel some sort of camaraderie, comfort, and understanding for the first time in her life eating her sensei in a dank cave with her teammates, after all.

One other thing I'd be super curious to know is how Kushina would react to the news; from my understanding, she and Minato were already a steady couple for a few years, so I wonder how she'd deal with him dying so soon?

the "what-if" is one of my FAVORITE aspects of the premise. like. no one has any way of guaranteeing that minato was really, truly, done for! there was a chance he would survive- a chance rin tanked because she really truly *doesnt* give a shit about him specifically, but you know. (imo rin has the potential to be a Great mednin but she doesnt tend to act quick enough to do anything/underestimates her abilities and then doesnt act. which is a result of her being forced into the position by the gender roles running rampant in ninjaville and her weird views about agency (if she was forced into doing something SURELY it is impossible for her to do it well)). but yeah rin's best bet WOULD have been to risk doing spinal surgery herself. she just didn't. it wasn't even too late by the time they ate him- thinking logically, the best option would have been for rin to do the surgery regardless of risk and if he dies, they eat the body, and if he lives, he can teleport them out to konoha! win-win! rin did not think of this because she had already disregarded "healing minato" as a plausible option. babygirl...

yeah team minato's moral compass's are WAY out of whack. i think we all know what's going on with rin. or at least most of it lmao. and kakashi is utilitarian to a fault on account of the trauma (many of these childrens personality traits are on account of the trauma). he Doesnt want to eat minato, but also he thinks what rin's saying is making sense, and since the only reason he can think of not to eat minato is just his own peresonal feelings, he sets aside his feelings to be a Good Ninja as is habit of his. get therapy boy!!! obito denies it at first, but also obito, for all that he stands out and fights with kakashi, is at his heart a people pleaser methinks. god i love the way all of them bounce off each other. the team minato dynamic really is unparalleled.

kushinaaaaaa my girl im so so sorry. on one hand obito brought you back some cinnamon. on the other hand. well. my take on her grief is that kushina has already lost a LOT. and she uses a kind of fake it till you make it attitude to deal with it. like an evil rin. *kushina voice: if i act happy around everyone surely this means that i am actually happy.* so while she is legitimately devastated by minato's death (i rag on the man but he IS a person, culpable to the system but not solely responsible for its flaws!!!!! i think his relationship with kushina is actually very sweet and far from the worst a ninja has ever had. i mean not to say its HEALTHY but its kind of close??? progress??) she kind of brushes past it so that she can GET BACK TO BEING HAPPY. this is not a great coping mechanism. but she can get in line for therapy. because there's a long long line.

i have been thinking of adding more to that timeline... i think it could end up being a REALLY interesting exploration of what would happen to team minato without the influence of madara/zestu/all that nonsense. (the answer is broken and dead. they're always gonna be broken and or dead.) i am a FIRM believer that regardless of weird plant guys interference team minato was destined for tradegy, on account of being shinobi. and it'd be interesting to explore. Film student anon back here. First of all, I'm loving all the different industries/students of said industries that ranboo's managed to upset, it's really funny to me. I always forget to add this but I'm a bit of a writer too. Sorta, I do fanfic so I never studied it formally but I'm very happy with my works! (But I'll always defer to the actually writers who pop in here cause fanfic is a very different ballgame)

Ok so like, obviously a million is a lot, but it's both more and less than you think for media/film projects. And actually since it's an indie project, it's way more

There's different tiers of film budgets, starting at micro to big, I had a whole class on it (fun fact, pirates of the Carribean 3 was the most expensive movie ever produced it I remember correctly)

But a million dollars for an indie project is insane. And what's more insane is how poorly that million was used. He could've had access to so much good lighting, actually good costumes (full offense to ranboo those costumes were so incohesive), a good camera for those shots in the second stream

The Blair Witch Project, one of the most successful indie films ever, cost a mere 200k to produce (a lot for us but the film world gets very expensive very fast, renting a decent camera can easily set you back a few hundred a day, so multiply that by however many days you shoot and the camera alone can be thousands of dollars). And that was back in the 90's with a fraction of the tech we have now.

Wait sorry, I'm just reading the wiki article for the Blair Witch Project since I had to google the production cost and it gets better. Most of it was actually done by improv and one of the actors was chosen on the basis that he could use a camera. That's actually so cool. Sorry I got sidetracked there

Anyways ya, so that's a lot of money that ranboo had access too, and a lot more when you consider the average cost of most indie projects, and even with all that, he blew it

It makes sense outside of the universe, as they wanted to show off the funky magic system and the power of a djinn better etc, but, in universe, it makes Hakuei look incredibly bad at the whole "having a djinn" thing. Like I've said, Ryosai ends up beating her very fast, and while in the manga, too, she was a bit of show-offy, at least we could've easily blame it on her conquering the dungeon recently, and just not fully understanding how to use it. She overuses her magoi, because she doesn't know yet how to manage it. Here, though? She comes off as having the experience and skill, and still losing. This is the Full-Body Djinn Equip! It's supposed to be insanely powerful! How do you lose so easily? Where's your Extreme Magic? You can still go with her being that new to this, but it's much easier to assume she's just weak. F.

(They were being attacked by arrows). I will give the credit where it's due, though. Clearly she isn't using Extreme Magic, because she has no intention of actually harming her people. It's all for show. If nothing else, this does show that Hakuei is a person that really means well. Not to mention, it kinda gives the perspective to WHY they manage to stall her & her Djinn Equip - she has no intention to actually fight.

Like. It's smart, but also ASDFGHJKL HakuRocket.

Stil ended up using some spell, though it's not the same as her Extreme Magic, unless she has, like, two. But, again, how the fuck these people actually survive that?

uh oh, something weird and bad happened during a walk today!

I was with Cocoa (cause when aren't i lol) and it waa towards the end of what had been a very calm and normal walk. Nothing had really happened except Cocoa receiving a warning growl, which isn't too unusual because he still has rambunctious puppy energy and a lot of dogs sense that and don't want to deal with it, and both dogs were on leads so we just carried on no problem

I actually met two other customers (and their owners) which was nice. Echo was all over me and despite not seeing me for a week Cocoa showed no signs of jealousy (not that he has before but he's never seen another dog fawn over me like that and he is a spaniel so i did wonder) which is a relief. he is, for the most part, a very good boi

towards the end of the hour we turned back. The park we were in is fairly small, just big enough to fill an hour, and i took a small shortcut down a path through some bushes and trees. on the main path on the other side was a man and his off the lead dog, which looked a bit like a slightly overweight greyhound (tho idk if it was)

Cocoa was also off-lead and wanted to say hello which isn't unusual because he LOVES greyhound type dogs, but the owner took his dog's collar and held him still, so of course I immediately called Cocoa because ok, not friendly i guess, nbd

Cocoa came back and while I was kinda mentally rolling my eyes and thinking 'ok but your dog should be on-lead or at least have a special jacket or collar or something', nothing had actually happened so it was cool

(I would also like to add that we were in an area with no lead restrictions, where people bring their dogs specifically to let them off-lead. it's actually leads-only season in the nearby royal park right now so if this owner was concerned about his dog he could have easily taken him to a place where leads are mandatory)

except the owner started saying something like... "you need to set an example for your dog"?

and I was like 'i don't know what that means but ok'. I assumed he was just concerned for his own dog because yeah ok, we sorta emerged suddenly from the bushes it might've been startling, and didn't say anything

the owner kept walking, and also kept speaking, even tho I was out of range and couldn't make out the words

I was getting bad vibes by that point and starting to think 'ok, he's a bit weird, maybe a bit mentally ill'. but he hadn't actually done anything

I waited for him to get a bit further ahead so we wouldn't pass him where the path was narrow and potentially set off his dog. I put Cocoa on the lead just in case and continued walking

AND THEN

guy and dog came sprinting back up the path towards me

and guy rammed his shoulder into mine as he passed

and did not stop. didn't even look back

I'd rolled with the hit so it was more surprising than painful. I stopped and called after him smth like "bro what the hell??"

and dissonantly, from within the bushes further up the path, I heard him shout back something to the effect of "take responsibility for your actions!" as if it had been my fault??

I said, "you could at least apologise!"

to which he repeated the part about responsibility and actions and... followed it up by calling me a tomboy??

(diversity win! the asshole who clipped you isn't enough of an asshole to call you a slur!)

I couldn't even see him and in retrospect it was actually kind of comical. also in retrospect I should have kept walking and not risked antagonising him but I was very much not thinking straight lmao

as it was, we both kept going in opposite directions and didn't see each other again. HOWEVER

the next people to come up the path were an elderly woman with downs syndrome and her carer. if that guy had run into them he could've knocked them to the floor. by that point I had gone from startled to pissed!

I warned them because I had no idea where the guy was and whether he was still barrelling around, but fortunately soon after I got away from the trees i spotted him on the other side of the open field, just walking, not sprinting

I took Cocoa home without issue. he'd been such a good boy and while I kinda wish he'd barked in my defense I'm glad he didn't do anything to make the situation worse. he was remarkably calm. I love him so much

but god what a weird, bad thing to happen! my area isn't rough by any means and while I've met some oddballs before (i am one myself!) I've never encountered anyone like that

and now I have a bruise on my bicep just above my elbow and another on my hip where my elbow hit it. I hope that asshole has them too lmao

FE10 Thought: Ike is boring in FE10

Ive been thinking about it and Ike is a lot less interesting in Radiant Dawn than Path of Radiance imo. He's at borderline Mary Sue territory.

Like I still love Ike but... mostly because of most of the stuff in Path of Radiance.

Radiant Dawn does so much to make you like him. And you do but... I don't think I remember seeing Ike have...a flaw. Or struggle that much really.

The Greil Mercenary's are much stronger than the other two parties.

They save Lucia(who I feel should've died/become too injured to fight) in one of the coolest scenes in the series.

Ike is the only one who can kill the final boss with that being the literal ONLY time that's happened in the history of the games as far as I know.

He gets two personal swords

Him Vs BK is still awesome to this day.

Etc etc...

It's...kinda a lot. He didn't really need this much to be cool. He already is/was in the first Tellius game.

He overshadowed Micaiah in what I feel like was her game, considering she IS on the box.

And everyone sorta hates her because of gameplay, and also FE10 bringing up the blood pact when it could've easily been told to us in FE9.

It also doesn't help that she dislikes Ike, even if she does have a reasonable explanation as to why.

Plus there's the whole branded/magic healing/cool background, but like... She's not really that much of a Mary Sue.

Imo a Mary Sue is someone who controls the entire setting they live in, bending the story and narrative to their will to make them likable. And she definitely doesn't do that.

I saw a video once saying you could remove her from the story entirely and nothing would really change, besides a few details here and there.

And even Ike doesn't bend the story too much, but a LOT is done to make you like him and his group more than the other people.

That's concludes my mini essay/rant/ whatever this is on FE10 is really wierd.

2. Any sleep habits either had to get used to? Matsuda expected that he would rarely get sleep because Beyond would have a shit sleep schedule. But it was BB's odd habit of sleeping under inadequate "blankets" that took him by surprise. B doesn't sleep with blankets, just those thin unfitted sheets that are supposed to go between you and the comforter. Matsuda finds this very cold and ends up buying a blanket to hoard during the cold nights when Beyond refuses to snuggle. For Beyond it was getting used to sleeping in a bed. The best he slept on was a cot, even at Wammy's House. After leaving, he just sorta slept on the floor with a makeshift nest like bedding to sleep on. So having an elevated platform to sleep on is new, and being on a bed that's soft and won't leave his back sore in the morning is novel.

3. Hot and Steamy or Soft and Tender? Of course. I wouldn't expect anything more from you. From Matsuda's side, it will always seem soft and tender. Matsuda is a little hopeless romantic and he loves grand gestures of love. He also lives for the small simple things of waking up to his boyfriend carding his fingers through his hair. For Beyond, though, it changes and shifts depending on the storyline that I'm going for. Sometimes, it would be soft and tender. Mostly happening because Matsuda and B happened to meet during the Kira case and he uses Matsuda mistaking him for L to get cute little dates out of him until he eventually comes clean. For the other ones. I don't think it's best described as hot and steamy as much as it is "Matsuda, are you crazy?". Mainly cuz Beyond is a little possessive and would see Matsuda as a play thing first and foremost in those settings. But that's more based around B having hang ups around L, and less about Matsuda. Although there are many ways that could easily turn into a very cute but very straining relationship.

17. Who fell in love first? Matsuda if we follow the idea that Beyond is having hang ups on L at the time. Matsuda is, like I said, a hopeless romantic so it would only make sense. Although if Beyond is just meeting up with Matsuda under false pretenses, it's Beyond more likely. After all, why would you be sacrificing time to stalk L to spend time with Matsuda who barely talks about the case outside of work, B? Hmm??? Got something to share to the class? But really it just depends on the flavor I want. A lot of the time tho, it's Matsuda who shows it. Since if Beyond Birthday is good at anything, it's denial!

so! the hopes :D they are my oc family for undertale and i've made a few variations on them for different universes. the one that's more fleshed out tbh is technically for underfell but honestly it's more my own au at this point. with credit to nic since it was an old rp but. anyway i'm gonna answer for that version just cause. yes <3

anyway so first things first about these guys, they're cat monsters, and they're all colorpoints. specifically different colors of colorpoints because it's my ocs and i get to make the rules <3 if you don't know what colorpoint is, it's the gene that the siamese are most known for - the dark muzzle, ears, paws, and tail. i learned when i was doing a paper on different coat patterns in high school that colorpointing is actually a form of albinism that's heat-based, which is why the body is that white-cream color! if it's colder, you'll see the whole cat turn more to the color their gene is, and if it's warmer, you'll see them turn more white. this is entirely unrelated to the hope family i just think that's a really neat fact about the gene sdkfhgbakjsdhfgklabhdsjkhgbajkdshfbf

3. where would they go on vacation ?

kat would love to have a nice quiet vacation in the country honestly. she's very easy to please askdjfgkjhabdskfjhbg ky on the other hand would love the beach. she prefers more exciting places.

4. what is their most embarrassing memory ?

for ky it's probably like, wiping out while skating or something sdfjhbgkashdjfb for kat... hm. she gets embarrassed a lot more easily than her twin, but probably... i'm gonna pull a bit from future canon to what i'm writing and i thiiiink something i may have done as a prompt on a side blog but i think kat's most embarrassing memory would be when she was at a halloween party with a lot of friends and she got in a quiet fight with this one guy that escalated and ended up with her tripping into the punch bowl. defo ran from that embarrassed to all hell.

8. what keeps them up at night ?

oh for ky its absolutely how she'd treat kat when they were younger. she was close to being her number one bully. she feels like that's something she can never really make up for, but she absolutely tries her best to. for kat i think sometimes it's just worry about losing the ones she loves, which in my story is an extremely valid fear because it. kinda does happen. so she doesn't want it to happen again, at all. she'll have nightmares about the person who's the reason for it and all of the things he did and how things could've turned out, both good and bad. this is also true of ky but it's not as strong for her.

13. what’s something that holds them back ?

ky wishes sometimes that she was nicer. it's hard to not immediately go for the snappish, mean response for her. on top of that, even after what's going to be in the story, she's much more critical of kat than anyone else, and she hates that about herself. for kat, she wishes she could stop feeling like she has to hurt herself sometimes. it's something that stuck with her so long as a kind of survival tactic because of their parents - violence and physical harm were punishments that were used liberally. kat kinda held on to that for a long time, even after my story ends. it's something she's able to control most of the time, but there's days where that urge is too strong to ignore.

7. what’s something that we haven’t seen in the show yet that you’d like to see?

i clearly wanna see some resolution or 'get together' scene ONSCREEN (cuz i have argued previously that they HAVE already banged offscreen in Dennis Gets Divorced) but I'd like to see, at the very least, going from writing Macdennis as subtext to making that the overt text. Which, in their defense, they've started doing since s12 ... but I just hope they execute the culmination of the storyline they started in s12/s13 in a way that.. does not suck ass. and i'm usually willing to give rcg a lot of leeway about this particular thing cuz like. theyre str8 they dont know any better LOL. but yeah i wanna see mac and dennis kiss, fuck, date, idc! something!

other things i'd like to see: i'd like to see charlie getting some cathartic 'snapping' arc where he goes back into the badroom and in the vents and the gang cant get him out cuz hes rlly emotional (like as a result of his dad dying or smth) and he basically just snaps, Phantom of the Opera style but he'd be like the Phantom of Paddy's... and maybe this is all while Dee's trying to host an event of whatever kind and so hes just lurking around the whole time trying to sabotage the event... maybe he kidnaps someone LOL thatd be ccool

i also would LOVE to see waitress becoming a more recurring character, esp to team up with Dee. I'd ideally like to see them move IN together n be a duo, but I'll take what I can get. I also just wanna see Dee going crazy. I kinda want Dennis and Dee to have a swap where DEE is the angry, spiteful one and Dennis is just sad and pathetic at his lowest yknow? LOL. Like I think they could easily do this as well, and it seemed to me like they experimented with that kind of dynamic in Gets New Wheels. and lastly, PUT DEE IN THE DUSTER!!!!

i'd like to see more of Mac's ACTUAL life... cuz he has been TALKING about doing all this shit the past couple seasons but we dont get to see what he's ACTUALLY getting up to. So sorta a Mac's Double Life ep but done much better LOL. I just want some character exploration with Mac cuz they seem to be struggling with what to do with Mac since he came out. And I know part of that also has to do with Rob wanting to have a gay man in the writers room but (so far, as far as I know) not being able to get any lol.

I'd also like to see some shit about whatever is going on with Frank that we found out he has a serious, terminal disease in s11... but ik a lot of ppl have said that before me, and for good reason its like.. wtf is going on there LOL

shit... good question.... yknow i'll just use this as an opportunity to say i hate the way they wrote fat mac. it just felt like they squandered his potential. the way they executed the joke itself was just reeking of rcg's own body image issues which makes it just uncomfortable/not funny if you dont ALSO have rcg's body issues LOL. like i think if they'd done a slower progression over time where the characters just Look Their Age as they age would be a good subversion and probably not too difficult to maintain LMAO. and if Rob wanted Mac's part in that to be gaining some weight for a season/a couple seasons that could've been subversive in itself and done well. But I think bc they made it a seasonal gimmick it suffered for that. So I'm not really answering the question i Know but KJDFGNKDJ tbh i loooove the cast of characters we've become familiar with I think they're all great

The first half of this movie has it's entertaining bits, but really loses its air when it turns out be "friend lies to friend to use him in getting closer to the subject matter." Like, clearly they needed some twist to make there be a 2nd half of the movie, but the fact that she so easily lies to him is kinda a slap in the name of friendship. Especially given the dangerous situations that she wanted them to insert themselves into. Plus, even worse, she emotionally blackmails him into helping by repeatedly bringing up his dad's dream for him, and then completely takes advantage of him and kicks his dream to the curb. ... The bits with Prateik Babbar were fun, but that didn't last very long. ... On the other hand, I'm very glad they didn't persist with Sanjay Mishra's character's constant stuttering. That was already getting old the second time they did it.

The first half of the second half (I know) becomes a bit better in terms of comedy, but on the other hand, the action becomes much more farcical. It takes almost a Welcome-style turn with the movie filming (except more serious this time), but it also sorta doesn't really show much in terms of struggles for a bunch of non-actors, aside from some pointless ridiculousness to bring in Pankaj Tripathi's character. And that also quickly becomes a bit much. ... And then the sudden switch in love stories, also ridiculous and unnecessary. I know this is a Bollywood movie, and clearly we've seen an Akshay/Kriti coupling before (Housefull 4), so it was bound to happen because the age gap doesn't matter when it's one of the big-name actors, but ... come on. Let it sit with him and Jacqueline's jodi. Kriti is there to be a movie director; the brief romance/love bit is unnecessary and forced. They could've spent more time in coming up with a better story that she doesn't come across as a bad friend - plus, why does Arshad even stick around when the one thing she'd promised him, a big role, turns into no role at all - and just let her end up as a successful director.

The twist with Sophie's killer/killing was also pretty obvious to anyone that has ever seen a Bollywood gangster movie. The end movie release stuff has shades of Dhoondte Reh Jaoge or the final movie in Tees Maar Khan. And that she takes his story and makes it into a comedy/spoof shows us that she isn't just about lying to friends, but is about straight up lying to everyone. And that she doesn't understand what she's done is even worse. (And, yet again, why is Arshad still there after all the lying, and what happened to her constantly bringing his dad's dream into it, only to completely stab him in the back?)

Honestly, I know this is supposed to be a comedy movie (it isn't, really) and a gangster movie (it is, sort of, for a bit of it), but really, it should've ended with her suffering more than she does for the lying. Like, essentially, the movie is saying its okay to lie to anyone and everyone as long as you become successful in your final aims. Which, well, is a very shitty story. It should've ended with her death - even if they do show him improving/changing after the fact. Like, him becoming a better person and great is all, but it being borne entirely out of her lying and using hidden cameras and tricking him is just unnecessarily weak and cowardly.

Lie to your friends. Mistreat the people that are helping you. Doesn't matter as long as you become successful. Such nonsense.

Backlog Reviews 2024: Batman Arkham Asylum

Well, after Bionicle the Game was such a massive disappointment, even by my lowered standards, it was nice to see this game live up to all of the hype.

It's not without flaws, of course, but overall, it has solid gameplay, a "gets the job done" story that only has a few bits I'd say are bad, and the difficulty is fairly balanced if you pick the right mode.

Killer Croc's section kinda sucks ass, though. Just really long and boring?

Really, the biggest delay for writing this review is that I just don't have THAT much to say compared to the other two. Most of what I have are minor quibbles that I think would be amusing.

For example, I had to play this at the lowest settings for a consistent framerate. Like, I tried medium with all of the optional settings turned to low, but that gave me this one room early in the game running at 12 FPS on those settings, and 60 FPS at low settings. And even then, I had some minor frame drops here and there. My laptop isn't a top tier gaming PC or anything, but I'd think it could run a 2009 game a bit better.

The lower settings also gives a lot of people blind eyes. Idk why, it just does.

Some of the pre-animated knock-out poses for the thugs are weird, too. Like, they'll ragdoll into a natural position, then set themselves up like:

It's bizarre to see in real time. Why did they intentionally make it as weird as possible?

Though really, the "because it's a video game" shit in this game does sorta bother me. Like, many times, you'll face obstacles that Batman, in-universe, SHOULD be able to move or get around much more easily, but the developers want you to do some weird challenge that doesn't really make much sense. Every video game has this to some degree, but I hate how artificial it feels here in particular.

This also leads to moments where Batman feels like kind of an idiot, though? Like, you look at him, and go, "Why aren't you better at doing your damn JOB, bro?"

One example that broke me a bit was the Bat Claw upgrade. He assembles it in his Arkham Batcave, and it can pull things. Pretty cool, right?

Well, later, as things get worse, Batman is in the same Bat Cave, and he assembles the Ultra Bat Claw from some nearby parts, which can do everything the original Bat Claw can do, but also a LOT more.

SO WHY DIDN'T HE JUST MAKE THE ULTRA BAT CLAW IN THE FIRST PLACE!?

We wasted HOURS of our lives with this shit, Bruce! We could've gone so much faster with that thing, and you only NOW put it together!? ARE YOU STUPID!?

So yeah, those quibbles aside, I quite liked this game, though would still call Lego Batman 2 my favorite Batman game so far.

8/10.

Nonagon Infinity - Review #5

Nonagon Infinity opens the door, Nonagon Infinity opens the door, Nonagon Infinity opens the door, Nonagon Infinity opens the door...

this album singlehandedly brought back my love of listening to music and got me to pay more attention to why i might love an album. i don't consider myself much of a "critic" as i very rarely listen to music i don't enjoy, but after hearing this i wanted to discover what it is about a record that makes it stick. for this one, it's the absolutely ridiculous breakneck, rollercoaster-esque pace this thing takes on. Robot Stop alone took me like a week to fully process before i was ready to dive into the full experience.

there are so many fucking bangers on here. as mentioned before, Robot Stop is the best possible opener for this that you could hope for, having so many intricate details and leitmotifs shoved in there that continue to reappear over and over later on (it even hints at their next record with the little microtonal segment!). i don't necessarily know what they all mean, but it's always fun to notice when they reuse a melody you recognize. it really ties this thing together as if it's just one really long song. Big Fig Wasp acts as a sister track, building on a few ideas introduced in the opener while presenting some new material. Gamma Knife is the first switch-up in my opinion, having a more distinct vibe compared to the last two, and acting as a very clean transition into People-Vultures, which has a much more foreign sound, almost like a desert-ish thing. it also happens to be my favorite track most of the time. Evil Death Roll is the longest, clocking in at 7 minutes and 14 seconds. it brings the record back up to pace after the more mellow Mr. Beat and is just a fun as hell jam all around. despite being on the longer side of things, it flies by. it reflects basically every good thing about this album, which sorta makes me think of it as a title track in a way.

the most unique and intriguing fact of this record is widely known already. it cleanly transitions through all nine songs and then loops back to the beginning, hence the name Nonagon Infinity. every time i heard a track transition in any other album, i wondered if it was possible to just transition everything, like these guys did, so when i found out that was a real thing i was stoked. a band actually pulled through and managed to utilize this concept. and they utilized it VERY well. it allows the record to truly feel like an experience. once you were along for the ride, you couldn't get off. it pulls back at every right moment and never hesitates to head right back to full throttle.

...until the last track. the closer is a bit of a flop in my opinion. something really sick could've been done here, but that just didn't happen. Road Train isn't bad, it's just underwhelming. transitioning back to the beginning wouldn't have even been all too difficult anyway, so i'm not sure why they went with this approach. it doesn't ruin the record or anything, it just annoys me a tad. still a good song, just not the best it could be.

so far this is easily my favorite King Gizzard album. i'll be surprised if anything beats it, but who knows. considering these guys have over like 20 albums it's totally possible that there's something out there i like more than this. still, i highly recommend taking this one for a spin, especially if you're new to the band sorta like i am.

HOOO, okay, strap in. This will take a while.

First off, 100%, you're right. I remember even before I grew attached to him as a character I would be seeing Taka's free time events an being like "Aren't his motives directly contradicting the message of the school?" Cuz, let's be honest, Hope's Peak is sending a message. It's simple existence implies that they only want to cultivate those with talent already there. Why bother waste time on people who COULD do something great, when there are those BORN to be amazing? I also think that this message went over a lot of the Ultimate's heads, because to them, they weren't BORN to do this, they enjoy it. (There are some outliers like Leon, and I feel like his character could have been explored more in that regard too, but I digress) Anyway, if any student were to see this message for what it is, and hate it, it would've been Taka. Hard-work, effort, his downright hatred for the simple word 'genius'? His entire personality represents everything the school is NOT. He is so clearly polarizing to it's morals. WHICH MAKES IT TEN TIMES WORSE THAT THEY DIDN'T ADDRESS THAT. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall him saying, in the game or in any of his free time events, anything against the school. Which is so out of character. This boy is quite literally working his ass off to be recognized for his own effort and skill and to be seen as someone other than his grandfather. You're telling me that he would be accepted into this school, this school of talent and natural skill, and just be good with it? Be good with all his work being chalked down to born talent? Fuck off with that. It was such a missed opportunity on the writers part to not just- to not mention his hatred for it. To give him some sort of motive that goes beyond the Mondo, and his death. Hell, they could've easily pulled something like "Mondo might be dead, but Taka's not gonna quit because of both the promise he made and his desire to dismantle this system." That would've been SO cool! And we would've been given a three dimensional character! Who exists beyond his stereotype of 'uptight rules guy'! And I would've legitimately killed for there to be an arc in Danganronpa ZERO in which he's committing to that plan and actively working to push morals of effort and skill, especially during the Tragedy. Would that have not made an interesting side plot?? I dunno, man, there was just SO much more they could've done with his character and personality.

ALSO- On the note of him being Ultimate Moral Compass. That could've been SO interesting to explore. Because like. It's such a broad and vague title? Because morals are a personal and different thing to each person? And it's clear that one of Taka's most prominent moral is working hard and effort. Which is, again, contradictory to the school. So the fact that they give this boy, this boy who is so fiercely against the schools message and, let's face it, existence. The fact that they give him the title of their 'moral compass'. It sorta feels like they're saying that his morals are 'correct'. But his morals do not at all match up with theirs. Which makes me think about their real motives for accepting him and how much they might've underestimated his drive.

The danganronpa writers really created a character who was the complete antithesis to hope’s peak and some major characters in later games only to pretty much play him for laughs and then kill him off early.
