I’m starved for my adventures with Superman content, don’t think we could get 22 or 35 with Lois & Clark?
Prompt 22 - "Don't make me make you."
Prompt 35 - "What? Me? Ticklish? As if!"
A/N: I love my adventures with Superman it’s so cute and so Superman energy!!! Yeeeee
“Really, I’m sorry I mentioned it. I don’t wanna bother you with my stupid dreams. It’s silly.”
“It’s not.”
“Lois, it’s fine, really. Just forget about it.”
“Clark, you can tell me, please.”
“It’s fine, it’s okay. Don’t worry about them!”
“Don’t make me make you.”
“Really, I don’t want to bother you with— uh.. make me?” Clark tilted his head, a little amusement hinting on his lips.
“Yeah!” Lois declared in a teasing lilt, her eyes darkening. “Tell me all about that dream of yours, or I’ll make you talk.”
“And.. how exactly are you planning to do that?” He asked, smirking now.
“By… tickling you of course!” Lois blurted out as though it were a long discussed, well thought out plan she’d had the entire time.
“What?” Clark scoffed, smiling bashfully despite himself. “Me? Ticklish? As if!”
“We’ll see about that, Clark Kent.” Lois said ominously.
The next thing he knew she had thrown herself at him, shrieking out a cackling war cry and grabbing for his waist. Clark blushed, tensing up under the proximity and intimate touch. He felt an all-too-familiar, tingling shock emanating from where her fingers danced across his skin. Crap.
“I can feel you twitching! You’re totally ticklish, you liar!” Lois teased, working harder toward her goal. She tickled up to his ribs and tried to worm a hand under his arm only for him to reach instinctively to block her. He shook his head, pleading briskly through his shaking, held-in laughter.
Once she had her mind set on something, she never gave up. Clark never imagined that quality, which he loved about her so much, would land him here.
She tried his neck with one hand, bellybutton with the other, and Clark squeaked before breaking down into giggling laughter. “Wahahahahahait!”
“Not stopping til you feel like talking.” Lois insisted, switching between sides of his neck as he tried to scrunch. “Your laugh is adorable, I could do this all day.”
“Gahahahahaha! Okahahahhahay! I’ll talk! I’ll tahahahha-ahahalk!” Clark cackled after a long couple of minutes.
Lois patted his cheek and stood, helping him back to his feet. “See, isn’t it easier to just let me help you?”
“Yohohohou’re a menace, Lois Lane.” Clark smiled affectionately, teasing her.
Lois stuck her tongue out at him. “Now tell me about this dream that’s been bothering you or I start tickling again.”
“Okay! Okay!” Clark whined.

Since your host!bakura and spirit!ryou series is coming to an end, are there any things that you wanted to include but couldn't?
I think I managed to put everything I wanted, but actually I have a deleted scene from part 3. Marik and Isis' confrontation was going to be very different at first.
After seing his brother on the Death-T, Isis was initially going to catch Marik and Bakura as they exited Kaibaland and take both of them with her to have a talk.
I changed it because it was too soon for Isis to be aware of Ryou's existence, but if you're curious about how it would have go:
(Also note that this is a draft I didn't work on since I changed the scenario. The writing may be a bit off.)
°○°○°○°○°○°○°○°○°
The boys were gathered at the Ishtar house, sitting on the couch. Honestly it looked like another kidnapping.
"So… Still don't feel like facing sis?" Marik mentally asked his host as he was stuck fronting. He was still in command when they exited the park, and seeing Isis panicked his host, resulting of them being unable to switch.
"Believe me, I'm trying! Can't you just go?"
"Nope," the alter sighed, "I can't just choose to leave, you know it. You have to calm down for that."
"Easy to say! Did you see the look on her face?!"
"She will kill us all, probably."
"You think she knows it's you?"
"Probably. She doesn't just look angry. She is looking at me like I killed her family."
"..."
"Yeah. It sounded funnier before I actually said it."
Marik blinked when he felt someone holding his hand. He looked to the side and saw Ryou smiling at him. Marik smiled back, appreciating the support his friend was giving him.
"So," Isis said as she sat down in front of them, making them all flinch. "For starters, you." She pointed at Marik. "What did you do to my brother?"
Marik tensed, and his host could tell how hurt he was hurt by her words.
"... I'm here."
"You're not my brother."
Marik clenched his fist as he felt the anger growing inside his chest. His eyes immediately searched for something- Anything he could throw at her.
"Calm down! Please! I understand you're angry, but hitting her won't help us! You won't feel better!" His host pleaded, but feeling him scared wasn't helping the alter.
"You don't know that."
"I do!"
"I'm sorry," Ryou said, cutting Marik in his thoughts. "I'm not sure how much you know, but this is Marik. Just… A different part of him."
Isis glared at him.
"I didn't ask for your opinion, spirit."
Ryou smiled at her, and it made Bakura shiver inside their mind. It was his smile whenever he was mad and about to (figuratively) muder someone.
"Right, I'm a spirit. A very old spirit, that knows way more about soul magic than you," Ryou's eyes become cold. "So I would suggest you show me a bit more respect."
"What-?" Isis frowned. "The ring is known to be the most cursed artifact. You think anything you said had any value?"
"Try spending 3000 years alone in the dark and see how your mind handles it. Then we'll talk about being cursed."
The two of them glared at each other for a moment. Then Ryou sighed.
"I understand that family is important for you. So do you really wish to lose Marik because you're too stubborn to listen to what he has to say?"
Isis blinked, looked at the spirit, then at her brother. The two still have their hands linked, as if Ryou was trying to appease Marik. It seemed to work since the alter was only looking down, avoiding her eyes. Isis put a hand on her forehead. She let out a long sigh.
"Alright. I'm listening."
"... Sis."
Isis looked up, surprised, and recognised that it was now his brother in front of her.
"Marik!"
The blond raised a hand, palm open, to stop her from getting up.
"Wait. You have to apologize."
"What?"
"To the other me. You have to apologize. You can't say that to him."
Isis blinked, surprised. Out of all the things Marik could have said, she didn't expect him to defend that other personality.
"What do you mean, Marik? He-"
"I know what he did. But he is me. We are the same person. So whatever he does, it's also me doing it. And so, he is your brother too."
"Since how long is he back?"
"He never left. I just lied to you because I knew you would try to get rid of him," Marik sighed. "Look, I'm not proud of lying to you. But you never listen. Not when you think only you can be right."
"Talking of lying. When were you going to tell me you found the puzzle and the ring?"
Marik looked away, and Ryou just shrugged. Couldn't help him with this one.
"I'm sorry… It wasn't to lie, but…" Marik sighed. "Look, I don't care about the Pharaoh. I don't understand why we have to serve a dead guy, sacrifice all our life for it. Everything happened because of him."
"Marik-"
"Besides, Ryou is my friend. I didn't want him to be at risk with the ritual."
Ryou looked at Marik, moved by his word.
"You admitted out loud we were friends. You and Bakura are always so emotionally shuttered. I'm so proud of you."
"You didn't have to say that out loud…" Marik mumbled as he looked away. In his mind, he could hear his alter snorting, "Could be more than friends if you weren't such a coward."
"Shut up you too. You just want to fuck him."
"Yes. But I'm sure this comes from you rather than me."
°○°○°○°○°○°○°○°○°
This was the deleted scene! Also I wrote that last exchange between the Marik for fun but I didn't want that fic to turn into conspireshipping, so it wouldn't have make it into the fic anyway.

a/n: i’m sorry if there are tense and verb errors! i didn’t write the whole thing in one flow, and editing it all again at the end gets really confusing and cumbersome. i’ve tried to edit and rectify as much as possible, but please bear with me if there are grammatical errors! do let me know your feedback! it took me about a month to write this, and i haven't written something in so so long, i feel rusty. thank you for reading!
___
You pace in your room, your heels clicking on the tiled floor. Your mind is racing at a million miles an hour, but you can’t see any solution. Not a single fucking one. You feel like ripping apart everything, but that won’t solve the problem. You’ve given so much to build your world, your empire. You won’t let it come down so easily.
“You have-”
“No options left. I know, Yoongi, stop trying to remind me every minute!” Your voice becomes shriller with each word, but you know that your lawyer, your best friend and closest ally, is right, and that irks you the most. The television screen in front of you is still blaring out the news that threatens to bring down everything you’ve built with your blood, sweat and tears, and you feel like a helpless maniac.
“Why can’t you marry him?”
You stop in your tracks, turning to look deadpan at the man sitting on the couch in a dark blue suit, his white hair parted and neat, making him look fairer than he is. “You know why.”
“Yes, but it was so many years ago. Y/N you’ve matured enough to move on.”
“STOP trying to counsel my feelings. I know I should move on. I know I need to. But, I can’t…” you falter, and Yoongi steps up, holding your arm and steadying you. He looks straight into your eyes and forces you to look back at him by putting a finger under your chin. “I’m not counselling your feelings. I know you hate him. And I know everything else too. I’ve heard enough of your drunken rants. And, I think, hell, I think it’s fair that you feel that way. But, now you have no other options left. And you can’t let everything go because of that one person, who broke your heart so many years ago. Be the stronger person, and use this opportunity to protect yourself, Y/N.”
You look at him, and breathe in. Deep breaths Y/N, use the one trick you’ve used to calm down your temper. “Okay.” You whisper quietly. He looks at you, eyebrows raised, clearly asking you to repeat. “Okay. I’m ready.” You nod, as he begins to nod. “That’s my girl.” He pats your hair once, and you know that his affection display metre has already broken and he’s going to go underground for the rest of the month.
___
“Hmm.” you speak into your phone when you’re awakened by your sister’s call at 7 am, which was definitely early morning to you on a sunday. Considering that you had just gotten to sleep three hours ago. “Have you seen the news?”
“Nope.” You sit up in your bed. That was a bad starter. “Why?” you ask her. “Go switch on your telly. Don’t cut the call.”
You grunt and swing out of bed. You were already annoyed- your sister was unpredictable, you expected this call to be anything from a prank call to the announcement of the marriage of her favourite movie star.
What you did not expect on the television, was a leaked video of a man speaking loudly to someone sitting next to him, “Such a slut- sucked my dick and begged for the money.” Everyone in the room erupts into laughter. The video gets changed to a reporter’s video who is supposedly making comments on the truth of this video.
And, suddenly you can’t breathe.
Somewhere, your sister speaks. Your phone buzzes with her voice. “Did you watch it?” You can’t even pick up the call. You whisper to yourself, “What do I do?” And you keep repeating it, like a mantra. Your sister keeps calling out your name, but you don’t care about her. All you want to do is to sink back into the same hole you crawled into twelve years ago. You can’t see the light that you grasped for yourself when you finally overcame it all. You can only see darkness. Pitch black.
___
“I didn’t sleep with him before the deal. I swear I didn’t.” You explain for the third time to your father. You’re sitting in your office, and you can hear the people from the press right under your window. You may be on the tenth floor, but you can still hear the ruckus in the streets. It’s almost funny. This is not a rare sight to you, you’ve faced flak from the public and the media before, but this one is different. You couldn’t be brought to give a fuck for the past times, but this, it threatened to bring you down. Everything you had built would be ruined. And you couldn’t imagine living without the work you were so proud of.
“Okay, then do you have any kind of proof that any intimate relations between you two began after the loan was sanctioned?” Your lawyer, Yoongi, asks you. He’s sitting right next to you, and out of the four people in the room, he has the least tense expression. The slight furrowing of eyebrows seems like he’s just annoyed to be woken up so early, but you know he’s concerned from deep within. He’s your best friend.
That’s why he can read your eyes when you don’t respond to him. “Y/N, I need you to be honest.”
“We… had some conversations while the loan was still being sanctioned. It was a couple of days after we met for the first time, and we’d gone out for a drink-” you see everyone’s eyebrows raise, “but I promise, it was innocent! We didn’t have any physical interaction. Honestly, no touches. Just business.”
“Then?” Your sister asks you, steely.
“Umm, you know…”
“Sexting?”
“Let’s just say it could put me in a bad position.” You look at your fingers in your lap.
“This is bad.” She sighs.
“What do we do now?” Your father asks Yoongi.
“Nothing. We publicly deny it. We don’t show the chats unless he brings it up. He won’t bring it up, because he knows it’s gonna expose that he was equally interested in getting his dick sucked by you, irrespective of the loan.”
Everyone looks at Yoongi, who’s calmly explaining everything while typing something on his laptop. “And then, you return the loan. With interest. Immediately.”
Your protest, instantly, “I can’t, Yoongi, you know! Even our stocks have fallen in value since today morning, and I don’t have that kind of money. I can’t even take another loan from anyone. Not that anyone would be willing to give me any loan now.”
“I’ll arrange-” Your father starts. You flinch, “No, papa. I’m not going to make another mistake by taking your filthy money.” He smiles, without any mirth. “You think I’m going to give you my money? Huh, no you fool. I wouldn’t associate myself with this scandal. You separated yourself from me ten years ago, I see the advantages of it today.” You stare at him. He has no idea how much his words sting you, how cruelly tears threaten to pass the threshold of your eyes, how nauseous you feel.
“You’ll marry and get the money.”
At this even your sister’s jaw drops. “Papa-”
You laugh. “What is that supposed to mean?”
“It’s the only way for you to get the money quickly, you silly girl. And I have the perfect candidate in mind.”
Yoongi asks, seriously. “And who is it?”
“Kim Seokjin.”
___
Madness. Sheer madness. You must be going crazy. Congratulations, Y/N. After years of people predicting it, it must have truly happened to you. Because there is no fucking way on earth you’re hearing Yoongi say to you, “I think he’s right.”
You throw another book at him.
“Violence isn’t the solution, Y/N.” “Oh yes, you motherfucker. It is the only solution.” You seethe in anger, ready to punch him again. Thank God that your cabin has blinds drawn.
“I think your father is right.” Thankfully your father isn’t in the room, because if he heard the curses you emit at his mention, he’d straight up disown you. And while you’d love that at any other time, this is not the time for that.
“You need to marry someone to get the money. Marry rich. Instant money. Boom, return loan. Divorce him after a couple of months, huh? Not so bad.”
Yoongi has the audacity to smirk, for which he is rewarded with another book.
“Y/N, please talk to me. Normally.”
You take a deep breath.
“What are my other options?”
“None.”
“What?” You spit.
“You can’t get a loan. You don’t have that much money. Your company is going to come down in two days when the stakeholders back off. You’re probably never going to be trusted by anyone ever again because now everyone sees you as a slut.” You know that well, the television screams at you- “Y/N selling herself for her company?” Ridiculous. Far-fetched. Ugly. You had always been the business world’s most hated bitch for being a woman who had alone made it this far, without any help from her father, without any support from a man, in a world of suited men with egos the size of Antarctica. And now everything you had proved wrong in this world was coming crashing down on you.
“Furthermore, I think that by marrying him and falsifying a story of how you had known each other since childhood, which is not fully false though, we can create an angle showing you as pure. You never wanted to sleep with him, because you were devoted to your childhood love.” You stare at Yoongi, who was staring back at you with his cat eyes. It sounded perfect. And you had full faith in Yoongi. He’d handled your PR forever, from making you class president at school to now in your company, and you trusted him to execute this perfectly.
There was just one problem.
“Yoongi… I can’t marry him. I can’t marry… Seokjin.” The word feels oddly natural although foreign to your tongue, like the taste of blood. Your breath was cold, your body shivering.
“Y/N. I can’t pressurise you about this. But you know you have no options left. And Seokjin… may have changed. You definitely have changed. You won’t fall for his games again.”
He looks at you earnestly, but you can’t see the hope he wants you to see. All you see is the end of the tunnel. The end of your glorious life of thirty years. You begin pacing in the room, a clear indication to Yoongi to shut up now.
___
When you’re ready, Yoongi brings you out of your cabin, which was becoming stuffy. Your secretary is waiting for you. She looks at you with wide eyes. You laugh internally. She had always thought of you as her role model, and you knew well how it hurt to see the image of someone you saw as perfect to break. As Yoongi briefed her about your new schedule, you walked around in your office, full of people, who were usually dedicated to their work, but today everyone seemed more interested in gossip. Which immediately shut up as soon as you came into the vicinity.
“Ahem.” You cough slightly, getting everyone’s attention.
“I have a few things to say. I believe you should know the truth first. Before the rest of the world does.” You breathe in deeply. You had no idea how to do this, it wasn’t even on Yoongi’s plan. But you ran on instinct.
“What the video says, is a lie. I guess you expected me to say this, but it really is. I don’t know how to prove it to the world, nor can I prove it to you. But I did not sleep with that man, and I have never wished to do it either. What you did not expect is the incoming storm that our company will face. I’m well aware that we will go through pressure now. From all ends. I’d like to reassure my employees that no one is going to get fired. No layoffs at my place, please. I’ve seen the damage those can create.” Everyone murmurs, smiling softly.
“I just ask that you stay with me in this storm. We will brave through it together, and get out on the other side… with a big bang.” Everyone cheers, someone says “Fighting!”
And you smile for the first time in the day, a smile of true joy.
At least not everything was lost.
___
When the press conference ends, Yoongi drops you home. “Rest well. You have a busy day tomorrow.”
But rest eludes you, as does peace of mind and any kind of serenity. You have one black hole of fear growing in the pits of your stomach, roaring to you one name. “Kim Seokjin”. As you finish bottle after bottle of soju, and drink yourself to sleep, you dream of him. It’s been four years since the last dream. They’ve always been bad dreams. Dreams that left you perspiring and breathless. Dreams that were reminiscent of reality, and memories you couldn't erase. You’re sure that tonight will be the same type. Nonetheless, tonight, when you dream of him, you smile in your sleep.
He smelled of roses. Strong but enticing, just like himself. All evening he had done nothing but steal glances at you, and you’ve openly stared at him. The soju had opened up your inner desires too much, and you can’t stop staring at your two-month long crush. A solid year after you had joined college, you had seen him for the first time. He had been dribbling the basketball, while talking to his friends. And you had fallen in love. He was the first crush of your life, and you had no idea how to proceed. Except that you had put all hope on fate, which had brought you to this party with him. Not with him, obviously, but this party which included him too.
And now he was looking at you. Everyone else was drinking, laughing, tipsily gossiping, even making out. But Kim Seokjin only had eyes for you. His ears were red, perhaps from the soju.Your entire body was red, because of his attention. You knew it probably meant nothing, but it didn’t stop your body from going on fire. You’d never felt anything like this before. Nineteen year old you didn’t know what desire was until you had met Seokjin.
And now the basketball player, with the broadest shoulders in the team, was standing in the doorway, laughing at some joke cracked by his friends, none of whom you cared about. You were ready to leave, having had your fun for the night. You had met this very nice girl, and chatted with her. She seemed just as crazy as you were, and you had exchanged numbers. Once she bid you goodnight and left, you were ready to disappear too, for it was getting late.
But then he called you from behind, his deep voice echoing in the cool night air that surrounded you two. Suddenly, it was just the two of you, and your skin burnt with his gaze. “Y/N?”
“Hmm?” You turned around, pretending to be nonchalant, but failing at it.
“Ramyeon meokgo gallae?”
You had stared at him for a good thirty seconds, before fully comprehending his words. He had continued to stare back at you, refusing to blink.
Finally you answered, “Sure.” You tried to hide your smile, but he quickly took your hand and led you to his car, whispering something about not standing in the cold for too long.
He made sure you wouldn’t feel cold all night. That night when he took all of your firsts. Your protected life had been broken into by this wonderful man who made you feel like you were in heaven, and you had no complaints. He took it slow, staring at you in between sloppily kissing your cunt, letting you scratch his back when he thrust into you, biting gentle marks onto your neck. When he whispered praises to you of how good you’d been to him, and how thankful he was that he was your first, you had been giddy with pleasure erupting all over your body.
You prayed, before going to sleep in his arms, that you could spend your life with him like this.
The next morning, he was gone. But he had left a note for you. “Dear Y/N, I made ramyeon. Please eat it before leaving for college! I’ll see you at seven tonight?” You had smiled at the thought of tonight, smiled when you saw his marks all over your body, smiled when you ate the ramen. Later he would tell you, between kisses that made you forget your name, that he had to leave in the morning for a run in the field. He had to keep fit, else the coach would kick him out of the team, and the two of you would giggle. He would laugh with you to sleep, telling you joke after joke of what happened that day. It made your heart warm, when you heard him laugh with you, when you heard him call you baby with genuine affection, when he cooked meals for you before leaving every morning.
Oh, what a fool you were.
And you were a fool again, waiting for him for the past half an hour, in a fancy restaurant. You half expected him to not turn up, without any reason, and your other half expected him to send someone on his behalf to eat with you. Both things you’d experienced before.
You hadn’t seen him in years, except in your dreams, and occasionally in the news. He had founded a startup after college, which had soon become a reputed, well-established big business, and he was often on television.
That’s why, when you saw a man with the broadest pair of shoulders you had ever seen, the plumpest and pinkest lips, and a broad expanse of forehead exposed by his gelled up hair, walking towards you, you didn’t know it was him. It was only when he pulled up the chair in front of you, that he said with a smirk.
“Funny how whenever we meet you’re staring at me.”
Instantly, everything clicks. His swagger, his ruthless smirk, his dark burning eyes, his glowing confidence. You knew it all too well.
“You haven’t changed at all.”
“And you, baby.”
You flinch. He takes the hint, but he doesn’t drop the pet name. He simply smirks and calls for the waiter. Again, no explanation as to why he was late. No apologies. No excuses.
“Please get us your finest wine. And two plates of fillet mignon.”
You’re still dazed by how he’s sitting right in front of you, and you’re not combusting into flames, nor launching yourself on him to punch the hell out of him. Funny how things change with time.
“I heard you’re in a mess.”
“Everyone has heard that .”
“Why does your father need me then?”
You’re surprised. “Wait, you don’t know?”
“And how do you expect me to know?”
“I thought you’d know. Or you know, something of the sort. I don’t know why else my father would suggest you as the perfect man for me to marry right now.” You scoff, as he instantly retorts, “Perhaps he’s fallen for my handsome face too.”
“Spare me that nonsense, please.”
“Oh, baby girl’s all grown up.”
“I’m not going to be your little doll forever, manipulating me and feeding me lies.”
His smirk disappears.
“I never lied to you.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Y/N-”
“Hiding truths also count as lies, you brat.”
“That was necessary for me to survive.”
“You’re lying to me again. Huh! Even now you can’t speak the truth.”
You stop talking when the waiter brings the food and wine. When he is finally gone, you look up at Seokjin, and you see something new in his eyes. Hurt? Regret? Sadness? You don’t know. And you couldn’t care less.
"You've got it all wrong Y/N," he whispers to you before sipping his wine.
___
You don’t know when you got out of that restaurant, and ended up at a bar. The two of you had eaten your dinner in silence. For you, it was too difficult to talk to him, even look at him for too long, without tears hurting your eyes. You don’t know about why he didn’t talk though.
But when you get to the bar, and gulp down your first glasses of martini, he starts talking.
“Why does your dad want me to marry you?”
You’re sitting on stools next to each other, some would probably mistake you for colleagues. Your knees could’ve touched, your eyes could’ve met his. But you stared at your empty glass. “I don’t know. How does he even know you?”
“I’ve done business with him. Many times.” “Aah…” You grow silent, and he speaks, “Isn’t thinking of marriage too far-fetched? Especially since it’s just a professional relationship.”
“I don’t think so.”
“Huh?”
“Did you ever mention… that we… knew each other in college?”
Seokjin’s eyes never leave you. “He asked if I knew you, since we’re both from the same college. I had to say yes.”
You smirk. “Then he must’ve done some digging and found out that we…” you don’t know how to finish the sentence. Dated? Went out? Fucked?
“But we covered everything up well?” Seokjin is puzzled, as he motions the bartender for another round of martinis. “Papa … has his ways and means.” You want to laugh at the universe. This was all your father’s plan to spite you. Force you to marry someone who he knew you had a bad history with. He must’ve found out somehow that your… relationship hadn’t ended… well. It was quite a ruckus in college when everyone had found out that The Seokjin was sleeping with Y/N, who was the daughter of the owner of all the top hotels in Seoul, Mr. L/N. And an even greater chaos when you two stopped seeing each other.
Someone must’ve spilled.
This time, you really do laugh out hysterically.
“Everyone hates me.”
“Stop being paranoid, Y/N.”
“I’m not!” You laugh again, “You hate me. My father hates me. He knows that you hate me. He knows that if he can force me to marry someone who hates me, he will have taken his revenge for the huge mistake I’ve made of outshining him in the corporate world.”
You look at the man next to you. The first two buttons of his black dress shirt are open, revealing beautiful collar bones. He had always been gifted with the best body structure you had ever seen. “Let’s not get married. Please. I can’t marry… you.” You can’t stop the tears this time. “I’m not ready to go through this again. I’ll only end up with more scars. And I really don’t… wanna….” And you hide your face on the counter, putting your hands around your face.
Seokjin is silent. He’s never seen you so bitter. He can’t help but think of what you’ve gone through these past years. What he’s put you through. And even if you don’t know it, he wants to take this opportunity to make it right.
“You’re tipsy. Go home. Let’s meet tomorrow and finalise the contract.” You sit up at his strong, steely voice commanding you. “Contract?” “Yes, the contract of our marriage.”
He stands up, pays the bill with his black card, and takes your hand, pulling you away from the bar counter. When he drives you home, you fall asleep in his car, inhaling that scent of roses you had fallen in love with. Moments before you do, you ask him, as he puts on your seatbelt. “Just give me the money, why do you need to marry me?” You don’t hear him whisper back, “Because I’ve always wanted to marry you.”
___
You’re thankful that Yoongi is sitting next to you. Doing all the talking for you. After last night, you can’t stop thinking about how this is the worst thing that could happen to you. All your enemies were ganging up against you. When you said this to Yoongi, along with how your ‘date’ with Seokjin had gone, he merely smiled at your crazed whispers, “I don’t think so, Y/N”. You had felt like screaming at him, but you were too sleepy.
Seokjin is sitting on the other side of the table, with his lawyer. It seems like a divorce, but it’s funnily a marriage contract.
Seokjin and you have decided on all the rules already. The marriage is going to be for precisely 26 months starting from the month of the contract. You would get married in two weeks, and you’re going to shift to Seokjin’s condo. You would argue that your house is definitely bigger, and better located than his, but Yoongi insisted. The contract involved going to parties, events, social occasions together. Celebrating anniversaries, initially bimonthly, then two public anniversaries. Private events too, dreamy pictures of an ideal couple in love.
“How about a honeymoon?” Seokjin’s lawyer, Hoseok, asks casually. Your jaw drops, eyes widening. You’re looking at Yoongi, then at Seokjin, but no one’s batting a lash.
“I’m okay with it.”
“I’m not!” You lash out at Seokjin, who’s stunned. You wish Yoongi would stop staying silent, but he’s too busy staring at the other lawyer’s fingers. “I can’t go on a vacation with you.”
This time Yoongi speaks up. “Why not, Y/N?”
“Because I can’t stay in a freaking honeymoon hotel room with this man. Plus, going on a trip would mean doing things together-”
“Not necessarily.” Seokjin’s voice is steely. “We can stay in separate rooms, do different things. No one will notice, if we arrange it well.” You’re still in disbelief.
“He’s right. You’ll have to make this believable, Y/N, to completely disassociate yourself from the scandal.”
His words hit hard, and you find your courage recoiling.
Seokjin is staring intently at you, he can see the wheels turning in your head. “What’s the loan amount?”
“Sixteen billion won.”
He nods his head. “It’ll be arranged to be given all at once. Y/N can repay me in instalments, does that work?” He slowly reaches his hand across the table to hover over your hand, and you flinch. “Yeah, it’ll work.”
“Great!” Hoseok flashes you all a smile, that’s quite starkly different from Yoongi’s calm and grim attitude. Your best friend does seem quite captivated by the smile. “We have a deal?” You nod, as Seokjin signs the papers, followed by you. When you shake hands and look into his eyes, you hope he can see the resentment in your eyes and expect no forgiveness.
___
Your father doesn’t walk you down the aisle, on the day of your marriage. You walk down it yourself, in your elegant white dress that has roses embroidered in beautiful colours and patterns all over the bodice. You don’t wear a veil, your hair is let down, and you’re walking with a stone cold face. As you near the altar, you can see a man looking impeccable in a suit, looking at you with focus and intent. Seokjin looks as fine as ever, and you’re suddenly conscious but you don’t care less. This is not your wedding, it’s just an act. And you’ve always been able to act since you were a kid. First in school plays, then in real life, when you’ve had to hide your fury and tears and put on a smile for your Papa’s sake. He doesn’t even smile seeing you getting married, although your mother and sister are already tearing up. You see Seokjin’s parents sitting right next to them, beaming. You don’t understand why.
Yoongi is your maid of honour. He’s wearing a baby blue suit, and looking dashing. Hoseok is Seokjin’s best man. He’s smiling brightly at everyone in the room, but he doesn’t know that Yoongi keeps looking at him. You smile at the sight, at least someone’s happy in this arrangement.
When you stand in front of Seokjin, you feel his stare burning down into you. It wasn’t necessarily negative or angry, it was simply… curious. Hesitant. Shy, but eager. You hadn’t seen this side of him earlier. He looks perfect, his black hair pushed up to expose his forehead, strong shoulders the focus of his suit, and his posture straight. You look like a nervous wreck, barely holding up.
You deserve better from fate.
The priest begins to read the vows, looking at Seokjin, who’s looking at you. When he reaches the crucial part, the words roll off his tongue, smooth like butter, as if he’s practised: “I do.”
It’s not so smooth for you, even though you have practised. You stutter, stumble, and force yourself to smile. The nerves have never got you this bad. You don’t know why. Maybe it’s because you hate the man you’re marrying? Maybe it’s because you feel like you’re Alice falling down the rabbit hole? Maybe it’s because this feels too realistic? Because you’ve dreamt of this over and over again when Seokjin would whisper secret wishes of putting his babies into you when you were young, wild and carefree?
Maybe because you’ve always wanted to marry him. No one but him. Even if you hate him. He’s the only man in this world who you’ve ever really cared about. The flings who came and went after that were nothing but sexual encounters you needed for your body. Your heart had never been aroused by anyone but…
“Do you, L/N Y/N, take Kim Seokjin, as your lawfully wedded husband?”
You realise that the priest has been repeating this sentence. You’re brought back to reality, and you’re hesitant, until…
Seokjin winks at you.
Fucking winks at you.
Your mind cannot process it, and you blush out of instinct.
“I do.”
The man standing in front of you smiles with his eyes first, then his lips part in a beautiful smile.
“You may kiss the bride.” The priest addresses the groom, who bends down, hesitant, eyes full of questions. You blink once, indicating you’re ready. He smells like roses, when his rosy lips press a kiss to yours. His hands grip your waist, and you melt to his warm touch. When he moves back, you’re both smiling. You don’t know what you’re thinking about.
The past? Or the present? Or the future?
Your heart beats fast.
___
After the ceremony is over, there’s an elaborate lunch. Your father sheds fake tears, you drink a lot of wine, and there’s many wishes for a happy married life. You smile too much, your jaws hurt. When Seokjin kisses you softly again mid-dance, when everyone is waiting for you two to show some affection as a newly-married giddy couple, he makes you forget everyone else. He’s always had this effect on you. You want to protest but you like it a little too much for even your own liking. Everyone is happy with how your wedding went, you can’t wait to crash at Yoongi’s place with soju and drink yourself to sleep.
Since you’re too tired from the stress of the wedding, Hoseok drives you and Yoongi to the latter’s house. Yoongi’s house is radically different from your own. While you had gone for light pastels and airy sunshiney shades, Yoongi had the walls painted a dark grey. But you had to admit, Yoongi’s minimalistic art sense made even the grey look elegant.
When you reach his house, you spot Yoongi trying to say something but hesitating. Reading his mind, you say, “Hoseok, join us!”
“No no, I don’t wanna barge into best friend time, I’m leaving!” Hoseok smiles widely, his entire face so bright even after the exhaustion of the day. Yoongi speaks up, finally mustering some courage, “No, Hoseok, you don’t have to leave! We’re just going to drink up. It’s cool if you stay. The more the merrier.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yup yup.” Your best friend needs no more confirmation. He’s already setting down three glasses and bottles of soju, and arranging the snacks.
“Thanks!”
Six bottles of soju disappear fast. You quickly learn that although initially, Hoseok is the one chattering the most, laughing out loud and basically hyped at everything, he eventually slows down his incessant flow of talking as the alcohol increases, and Yoongi fills in the gaps as he’s more talkative when drunk. They sit next to each other, unconsciously touching each other, and Hoseok is definitely looking at Yoongi with puppy eyes as he’s more and more drunk.
You learn that Hoseok has known Seokjin for the past five years, and has now become his business partner and lawyer. Also his best friend. Naturally he knows everything about his past. Well, not everything. Even he doesn’t know exactly why Seokjin disappeared on you. He never got to that part of the story when narrating history in drunk rants.
It’s fun bitching about Seokjin. Hoseok has a good sense of humour, and together the three of you have endless jokes about his narcissism, his stuck-up attitude, his babyish nature, and his winks. When you tell them that he winked at you during the ceremony, Hoseok falls into Yoongi’s lap, laughing. You’re too intoxicated to know if the fall was intentional.
Ten bottles down, you’re too sleepy to continue talking. Your jaws hurt even more now because you’ve talked so much, but it’s a good pain. Your ribs hurt because you’ve laughed so hard after so, so many years.
When you’re falling asleep on the floor, putting your arm below your head as a cushion, you see Hoseok already sleeping on a cushion right next to Yoongi, who’s staring at him intently. You smile at your best friend. Yoongi’s always been shy about any ideas of romance, and you think Hoseok’s the same under the mask of that bright, smiling face. It’s a nice thought to fall asleep to.
___
Things don’t go back to normal immediately. After about a week, the media ceases to talk about the scandal. And more about other things, like how you’re spending your newly married life with Kim Seokjin, who had been dubbed as “Worldwide Handsome” after he had overtaken some famous K-drama actors in terms of looks in a recent poll. Although you had shifted into his house, you had yet to have much conversation with him. This was because his house had a convenient feature- it was a duplex. So the second floor was completely yours, and you also had a separate door to it. There was no need for pretence either when friends (read, only Yoongi, and sometimes Hoseok) came to visit. They all knew about the arrangement. The only people who didn’t know were Seokjin’s parents, but they had returned to the USA soon after the wedding so there wasn’t any undue intrusion from them either. To the outside world, you were a couple in their honeymoon period, rarely going out of your house because you were busy doing… coupley things?
But in reality, you both were stuck up in your rooms, working from home. You barely came out of your new room, which you had quickly furnished as per your taste and brought your belongings over to, and Seokjin never came up to your floor. You would often get take-out, or make something easy in your shared kitchen, but your routine was quite different from Seokjin’s. You were more of a night person, so you’d wake up later than him and your entire day would go by on a +2 hours schedule than his. You never clashed.
In that week, you had four encounters in all. The first day, Hoseok and Yoongi had come over, signing more contracts ensuring that you got the money to pay off the loan from the scandal. Seokjin made lunch for you all. Surely it was just a coincidence that it was the same thing he had made for your one year anniversary back in college and you had enjoyed it so much that he had made it every night for the week after that too.
The second encounter was three days after that, when you had to talk to him about bringing over your furniture to your new room. It was a ten-minute discussion, with you standing in the doorway of the hall, him sitting on the sofa, and you couldn’t help but notice, wearing a dapper white suit that made his skin glow in the morning when you were barely awake and simply dressed in a blue dress.
The third and fourth encounter happened on the seventh day. Early in the morning he had appeared at your door, asking you if you were free for lunch. You really weren’t free, because of a meeting… that you could have rescheduled, to be honest, but he didn’t press about it when you said that you were not free. You were quite thankful that he had not insisted. Later, you had ordered pizza, and you were waiting near the door because the delivery man was about to arrive at any moment. Suddenly the door burst open and a very sweaty Seokjin burst in. It was nine in the night, and you’d expected him to have fallen him asleep because of his regular schedule, but here it seemed that he had just come back from… gym? “I didn’t know you worked out?” “Nope, that’s too much hard work. I run.” He leans on the kitchen counter, getting back his breath, and you ogle at his lean figure. “You’re…?” “I ordered pizza, waiting for that.” “Oh.” He proceeds to drink water, and in his hurry, he drips some of it on his shirt, which is already wet from sweat. “Would you like some? I’m not going to be able to eat it all anyway.” “Nah, thank you.” He smoothly walked away into his room. Maybe to shower? You didn’t want to think about it.
That night, the dreams returned. The first time you had seen him play basketball in your college campus, his muscular arms on display in the sleeveless tank top he wore. Three weeks after that, he had given you that tank top. When you woke up, the dream still fresh in your mind, you walked up to your wardrobe and found the tank top. It had been too loose for you, and that was your excuse for never wearing it since he had left. But now, you suddenly wanted to wear it again. If it was yours, you had every right to wear it, didn’t you? Plus, it was a Sunday, he was most probably not at home. You had heard from Hoseok that Seokjin often spent Sundays with him and a few other friends from his work. You had the entire house to yourself, and frankly speaking you had been waiting for this day.
It seemed, nothing was going to go according to your plans.
On getting out of your shower, you decided to go down and make coffee for yourself. Putting on music on your phone, you walked down slowly. Wearing the tank top and shorts, you had gone into chill mode, finally getting a day to yourself when you didn’t have to work nor would you have to worry about anything else.
You walk down the stairs in a house of complete silence, but when you put your foot on the first floor, four men pounce out of a room, showering you with bursts of laughter and boisterous shouting. You stare at them in complete shock, faces you do not recognise at all, except two. You notice now that there are more than four men- four stand in a line, shy but still giggling, among which Hoseok had his hand over his mouth hiding his smile. The other three were unfamiliar, until you see Seokjin step up from one side, his entire face red and embarrassed.
“Noona!” All the three men who you didn’t recognise call out your name with adorable smiles. They’re grown up men, wearing adult clothes, but when they call you out, they sound like children and the smiles on their faces are childish. You want to squish their cheeks. Seokjin shushes them with a finger, and you smile at him.
One boy steps up and bows to you. “Y/N Noona, I am Jungkook! Jeon Jungkook!” He’s tall, but not taller than Seokjin. He has many piercings and is wearing an all black outfit, but his entire demeanour is smiley and cute. Another boy steps up, “And I’m Jiminie, and this is Taehyungie!” They have smaller builds than Jungkook but Taehyung is definitely taller than Jimin and Jungkook. They stand with the brightest smiles on their faces. “They’re here from Chicago. They’re my cousins,” Hoseok explains, “but they love Jin hyung more than me! They’re here to see you specially.” You smile instantly, your heart having already warmed towards the boys. You love the bright positive energy that they’ve brought into the house, that’s otherwise so silent and boring. One-by-one you hug each of them, but before you can talk to them, Seokjin asks them to sit in the living room, and pulls you away to his room.
“What’s up?” His hold on your wrist softens, but his thumb lightly grazes on it. “They know… about the arrangement… and the past.” You look up at him, and gulp. “Okay.” “Yeah- and they may say stuff that’s…” “They’re kids, I won’t blame them.” Seokjin scoffs, “Jungkookie is 24 now. Not a kid anymore. Not that he’ll say anything. It’s Jimin and sometimes Tae- they don’t know where to draw the line sometimes. They can be blunt.” You furrow your eyebrows. “But I won’t feel hurt about anything. Nothing was my fault.” Seokjin’s eyes become stern, and you feel him pushing you gently to a wall. “Are you sure? Let’s not blame everything on me.” “I’m just speaking the truth.” You don’t back down, and stare back at him. His hand slips higher up your wrist, to your arm, and he lifts it to check on a bandaid that you had put on your arm last night. He raises his eyebrows. “I cut myself while shaving my arms.” He sighs in relief and rubs it softly. “Be safe.” Before moving out of the cage he had enclosed you in, he picks up your arm and places a feather kiss on the skin just below the bandaid. It sends shivers down your spine, especially when he leaves you abruptly after that, leaving you cold and exposed.
You waddle your way back into the living room.
___
You learn that although the plan was originally that the boys would meet at Hoseok’s place, the Maknaes had arrived at Seokjin’s apartment and had insisted on surprising you, in spite of your husband’s protests. You were thankful that they were high, truly. They had a lot of energy and made the house seem like a home again with their childish and chill behaviour. Hoseok was your age, but around the Maknaes, he was also young and wild. Now you see why Yoongi liked him so much. Even Seokjin was laughing, although there were multiple times he spoiled the laughter in the room with his awful jokes.
You end up ordering pizza, and lounge in the living room. The television is blaring out some music, and in a corner, Hoseok and Jungkook are dancing like maniacs. Taehyung is clicking pictures of everything, laughing to himself. Jimin is busy making amazing cocktails for all of you. And what about you and Seokjin? You’re probably sitting this close after years, and finally doing an inkling of what the newspapers expected y’all to be doing. But you were overthinking it. He was merely sitting next to you. So what if you were slightly leaning into his body, attracted to the warmth? So what if you could smell the roses on him? So what if he had wrapped his arm around your shoulder, and was gently patting your hair? Nothing suspicious. Jimin was wiggling his eyebrows at you both for nothing.
___
“Y’all are comfy.” Taehyung asks out of the blue, when you all are huddled around the pizza, on the carpet. Instantly you’re blushing, and Seokjin moves away from you by an inch. “It’s nothing,” But Tae doesn’t stop. “Even if you’re upset about the marriage now, Jin hyung, you and Y/N have great chemistry.” Jimin nods and pipes in, “And great history.”
Hoseok pinches them, but they seem oblivious to it. Jungkook doesn’t seem to notice as he’s wolfing down the pizza slices. But there’s an odd tension forming between you and Seokjin. You can’t deny that although you tried to stay away from him, you had often unconsciously leaned into the familiar comfort that Seokjin provided. It was something your mind did not control, it was something your body caught on to by default of memory.
It was awful. You hated that you felt nice by sitting next to him, not even exchanging words. Merely the idea that he was there with you being comforting made you hate yourself.
Hoseok broke the silence by asking Tae if he wanted more pizza, and the young boys continued their excited chattering again.
But your mood did not go back to what it was before Taehyung ruined it by speaking the truth. The truth you detested.
___
The weeks after that passed by smoothly. You began to go back to work, people congratulating you on the wedding, and smirking at you when hinting about your super-secret honeymoon. The media went back to talking about things unrelated to you, your life was functioning just fine.
Except one thing.
Seokjin.
You two had fallen into quite a rhythm. You would get up, shower and go down to the first floor. You would find Seokjin almost leaving the house. He’d look at you once before leaving, and you would find breakfast on the kitchen counter. After finishing breakfast, you’d leave the house. In the evening, you would ask Seokjin if he would be eating at home, to which he would reply in monosyllables. Since you generally returned home earlier than him, you would do the dishes, order some kind of takeout if you didn’t feel like cooking, or try to cook something and end up making a mess of it. Then you’d eat dinner by yourself, and go up to your room. If Seokjin did return home for dinner, he would eat whatever you had conjured and then go into his room.
Then repeat the entire routine the next day.
It wasn’t a bad routine. All your life you had craved to live alone, and for the last ten years you had enjoyed that. You’d feared marriage would take away that independence, but this arrangement worked very well for you. Too well, in fact. You probably would never want to change it.
There was just one issue that irritated you.
It had been three weeks since the last time you had gotten laid. And the last time was with the motherfucker who began the scandal. So when your hormones decided to go berserk, you had little to help yourself with.
On one hand, it felt weird to go find a random date. Firstly, if the media found out, it would be the end of your life. And … perhaps less importantly, and honestly, you didn’t even know why it came up in your mind, but it felt strange to fuck someone else when the man you had always wanted to fuck was literally in the same house as you.
On the other hand, you found no sensible reason in your mind when your hormones hit the horny extreme of the scale at midnight and you felt your finger inching downward and your panties slick. You knew very well you could use your vibrator to relieve yourself, get yourself just one high and that would be all. But you didn’t want to. Mostly because seeing Seokjin every day made you think of him. And how he felt. And how he had loved you. Once, before it all went wrong.
___
“Three cheers to Y/N for coming back with a bang!”
Everyone cheered loudly, clinking glasses and you smiled. It was a work dinner, one after many days. Everyone wanted to drink their recent stress away by getting together. Most of your floor was here at this work dinner, but you were paying for it all. It hurt your pocket, but it was a good move to keep morale boosted. Naturally, everyone was drinking without any control. Soju, whisky, beer, vodka, tequila, cocktails. Nothing was banned from the table tonight. And to be fair, even you enjoyed unwinding with your colleagues after a stressful month.
Pretty soon, you all were drunk and chaotic in the bar that you had booked for your party. Despite some of them being older than thirty-five, almost everyone was dancing and chaotically singing to the karaoke in the corner. Some had fallen asleep on the couch, one was crying as they were missing their ex-boyfriend, and only one person was barely drunk but they were wolfing down the samgyeopsal with too much fervour.
You were among those people who were drunk-dancing and singing in the worst tunes. You had always been close to your colleagues- not particularly friends, but you knew you could count on them. So now, when they compelled you to do girl-group dances with you, you didn’t think twice before joining. When a boy-group song came on, you all swooned at the visuals of the handsome idols, laughing and dancing to the beat. It was quite the mood, lasting till 2 am in the night, when the bar owner came to ask you to wrap up, as it was getting too late. You were too inebriated to understand his words clearly, but you got the gist from what your colleagues explained to you in spite of being equally drunk. Some readily bid their goodbyes, bowing to you for such a good evening, and clicking selfies with you. Others were drooling on the couch, and sending them home was quite the task. You didn’t want the drunk-daze to wash off you, but all these efforts made you more and more sober.
When you came out on the street, opening your phone to call Yoongi to pick you up, you found a text from him, saying that he was busy tonight. Puckering your lips in an irritated expression, you considered who else you could call. You briefly considered Seokjin, but it would be too much of an inconvenience for him. Plus, you didn’t want to risk being around him when you were drunk. You’d either get incredibly desperate to kiss him, or kill him.
Kim Namjoon. Your finger hovered over the contact one time before you decided to hit the call button. Namjoon was used to this, anyway.
“Hello?”
“Hi-” you could hear your words slur, and slight shuffling from his end indicating that he was probably sitting up from bed.
“What’s up, Y/N?”
You giggle at his concerned voice. “Nothing babe.”
“Y/N, are you drunk?”
“Is it that evident?” You giggle again.
“Where are you?” You could hear him getting up and walking. You look up at the flashing signboard of the bar, which was now closing down, and tell him the name.
“Okay, hang on. I’m coming.”
______________
Ten minutes later, you were sitting in Namjoon’s car, smiling at how he was focusing on driving through the dark streets of Seoul.
“I’m sorry I woke you up.”
“I wasn’t sleeping.”
“But it’s so past your bed-time.” He laughs. “You remember?” “Of course, Namjoon.” It’s a red traffic signal. He looks at you for a second too long, and you know what he’s thinking.
“I miss you.” You lean over to kiss his cheek. You can feel that it’s warm, but he’s always been like this. Quietly shy. He clears his throat and drives on as the green light flashes.
“How’s Seokjin?” He asks you after a while.
“He’s … fine?”
“I’m happy for you.”
You laugh. “You don’t have to be.”
“But I’m not pretending. Really!” He smiles at you, his eyes honest. You can see that he’s not lying. Namjoon has never lied to you. Unlike Seokjin.
“I know you love him. Even after all these years.” You smile at him fondly. You can’t even be mad at Namjoon for speaking the truth that you’ve tried to hide so desperately. He knows enough of your past to have figured out the truth of your arranged marriage with his intelligence.
When he looks at you again, staring deep into your eyes. You can feel the blood rush to your face, and you don’t know what you’re thinking but you ask, “Can I kiss you?”
He smiles, his eyes bright because of the lights on the streets.
“No, Y/N. Don’t do anything you’ll regret.”
You can see the pain in his eyes. But this is why you love him. He knows what’s good for you, and never pushes you to do what he wants.
Oh, how you wish Seokjin could be like this.
That’s the last thought before you fall asleep in his car.
___ When you wake up the next morning, everything seems to be aching. Your head, your arms, the soles of your feet. When you open your eyes, you’re greeted by a sight that intensifies your headache.
“Seokjin?”
He’s literally staring down at you, sitting next to you in your bed. You realise you’re still wearing the clothes you wore at work, and then to the party, last night. You probably smell awful, and look even worse. You’re half scared that Seokjin will scream at you for waking up late and missing work.
But that’s when it hits you. There’s enough sunlight pouring in from the window for you to understand it must be at least past 10 am. And Seokjin is sitting in a t-shirt and shorts, his hair ruffled, and a frown on his face. Isn’t he also missing work?
“Where were you last night?”
“There was a work dinner.”
“But whoever brought you home was not your colleague.”
Your eyes widen. “How the fuck do you know?”
“I know every employee that works in your company. I’ve never seen this one’s face before.”
“What the hell, Kim Seokjin,” you groan, while trying to sit up. But he’s sitting too close for you to sit up without kicking him.
“I’m asking you something.”
“What?” you snap.
“Who was he?”
“Namjoon.”
“Yes, he said that. That’s not what I’m asking.”
“He’s a friend.”
“Really?” He raises his eyebrows. You lean in, taking his challenge. You’re almost breathing the same air as him, and your breath hitches slightly. “Yes,” you tell him, not looking away. “Then why didn’t he come for our wedding?” You’re a little stunned, but you retort. “He’s not that close.” “Yet, you called him instead of me to pick you up when you were drunk. Yet, you clung to him when he brought you home when you weren’t sober. Yet, you’re defending him, right now as we speak.”
“Ugh!” Seokjin’s rapping at this point, his words coming out so fast. He’s always been good at arguing.
“Why are you so interested to know?” You stare back.
“Why are you defending him?” He stares back.
You stay like that for two minutes. Two solid minutes, because it’s so silent that you can hear the clock.
You’re the first to give up. “Okay! We were a little more than friends.”
His jaw clenches, you can see the cogs turn in his head.
“So what?”
“Nothing.” He gets up, walking away slowly. His long legs on perfect display as the shorts hang low on his hips.
You ask again before he can leave the room.
“Seokjin?”
“I didn’t know you dated after me.”
He pauses, looking back at you, his hand on the half-open door.
“I’ll be downstairs if you need anything.”
And he leaves you speechless.
___
The next few days, you and Seokjin hardly spoke to each other. Even if you were sitting together on the couch watching the news, even if you were both making coffee in the kitchen, even if you accidentally bumped into each other in the house. He seemed to be purposely silent. Every effort to start the conversation was made by you, but whenever you asked him anything he’d either grunt or nod.
“I don’t know why he’s behaving like this. I mean, it’s not like we’re talking a lot anyway, but this is just too odd. He’s never this silent. Even last week, we were joking while watching a movie together. He bought me food last Thursday. But now- it’s all back to zero. No progress. I don’t know what’s up.”
You rant to Yoongi, who’s furiously typing on his laptop, next to you.
“He’s acting up.” “What?” You gulp your coffee. “Why would he do that?”
“He wants attention. Y/N, is it that hard to understand?” You scornfully laugh. “He has enough attention. All the media can do is talk about him anyway.” Just a couple of days ago, Seokjin had modelled for a magazine featuring his success story. “Why do you need to model? It’s a fucking business magazine, publishing a business article. Why do they need you to wear Louis Vuitton and pose?” Seokjin had merely smirked, and said, “Because I look good.”
“No, you thick headed girl. He wants attention from you.”
“Why?” You’re genuinely annoyed at Yoongi now for his ridiculous statements.
“He wants you to give him a chance to explain. For the past.” Yoongi finally looks up from his work. “Talk to him, maybe. Tell him why you feel what you feel. Give him another chance.”
You scoff. “Not even in his wildest dreams.”
“At this point, you’re just being unreasonable.”
“Huh?”
“You can trust a random guy like Namjoon enough to drive you home when you’re drunk, but you can’t trust your husband?”
“Namjoon is not a random guy!”
“But you’ve known him for just a year.”
“He treats me much better than Seokjin, anyway. That’s what counts.”
“Sure, Namjoon is a great guy. No denying that. But Seokjin deserves another chance, I think.”
And with that, Yoongi went back to his laptop.
___
But you had no idea what Seokjin had been up to recently. When you were talking to Yoongi, he was sitting in his car, waiting for a certain individual to show up. He was wearing his shades, although he was sitting inside his car. He had worn black on black, to bring out his most formidable side.
“Hello?” Namjoon got into the car, looking quizzically at Seokjin. He was wearing a loose plaid shirt and shorts, his hair cropped really short. How did Y/N even like him? “Why did you call me here? And how did you know how to contact me?”
He pressed a finger on his lips, shutting Namjoon up. “You know very well why.” Namjoon stared back at him. “... no?”
“Are you this dumb?”
“Generally, no. Your presence has not changed that status, contrary to what you might be thinking. Seokjin scoffed and got straight to the point. “How do you know Y/N?”
“Huh?” Namjoon was a little taken aback, but recovered quickly. “We’ve known each other for a little over a year. We dated for a few months, then we were friends.”
“Just friends?”
“We did sleep together occasionally. But we were both too scared of commitment to date seriously. Especially because I knew that if I date her, I would fall in too deep to ever be able to move on from her. I couldn’t do that to me, nor to her, not when I knew that she still loved you.”
Now it’s Seokjin’s turn to look incredulous.
“She does not love me.”
Namjoon smirks.
“Sure. That’s why she’s cried endless nights for you, wondering where you were, who you were with, and why you left her.”
Seokjin is too surprised to continue.
“What happened? Cat got your tongue?” Namjoon scoffs again, but before Seokjin can recover his senses, he stepped out of the car. “If your little interrogation is over, I have somewhere to be. Talk to her. Goodbye.”
___
“To Y/N!” The menace known as your husband winks at you again, and you can’t help but choke on your wine as you drink to the toast he raised to you.
It’s been two months since your marriage, and your father insisted that you two host a two month-anniversary. You don’t know why you agreed to it, maybe because you didn’t want the rumours to come back. You wanted your marriage to last. At least in the eyes of the public. Not in your own life.
Everyone claps, and someone begins whistling, “Kiss! Kiss!” as if it’s a bloody kiss cam in a baseball match. Shockingly, everyone, including Hoseok, the Maknaes whom he brought along to the party, and Yoongi, join in the chant.
Jin’s lips twitch slightly. You know he doesn’t like this either, but when he leans in, you close your eyes and let him take over.
And take over he does.
He doesn’t let you breathe as he kisses you, his mouth slightly open, his breath sweet like roses, his tongue barely prying into your mouth but you part nonetheless because you like his gentle force on your small lips. His tongue swipes over your lips once, making you gasp and smile into the kiss. It’s a close like old times, you can taste the wine on your lips and you can’t help but want more.
“Y/N…” he whispers as he moves back slowly.
You bite your lower lip.
“I love you.”
It’s awful timing, and you almost miss the words. It slowly registers into you what he just said. And you breathe in, parting your mouth to stay something, but he interrupts you.
“And I’m sorry.”
You don’t know what to say, so you just stay silent. He looks at you in expectation, but there’s too much going on for you to comprehend. You’re overwhelmed, and right now the dominant emotion is one of extreme longing. So you do what your heart and body tells you to do, instead of what your brain asks you to do.
You pull his hand, and take him away from the banquet hall where you had organised the party. Once you’re outside on the isolated stairs, dimly lit and no one’s around you, Seokjin looks at you with confused eyes, looking like a tiny puppy. You smile in endearment, before pulling his lips into yours. And he doesn’t miss a beat.
“Y/N…”
“Shhhh…”
He kisses you harder, pushing you against the wall, your bare back hitting the cold stone, as his hands slide up your ribbons along your waist. You know how turned on he is by the growing force in his touch. When he pulls back, you’re unable to breathe, and you visibly pant. You’re sure your lipstick is ruined, and he smirks at you.
“Ramyeon meokgo gallae?”
___
You know that everyone back at the party must have a million questions, with the host couple disappearing in the middle of it. But you couldn’t care less. Not when his lips are on your neck, sucking and biting softly, and your hands are tangled in his smooth locks. You’re already turned on beyond control. It’s only now that it hits you with full force how much you had missed him. For the longest time, you had been too shy to expose your body to anyone else and tried to take care of your needs by yourself, the memories of Seokjin were too strong. But when you did allow someone else to touch you, you became reckless and thoughtless. You stopped caring about making love. It was just fucking someone new every weekend, and then moving on. Namjoon had threatened to change that, but he had stepped back in time. He knew that he would be the only one falling in love, and you did not want to break his heart.
But tonight brought back the memories of your first night with Seokjin. The night when you had lost your innocence and your heart forever to the one man who could make your heart warm with a simple smile and wash away all your worries with just a cute face.
He’s struggling to take off your dress, and you giggle at how concentrated he is, his eyebrows furrowed. “Seokjin-” “Hmm?” He looks at you, his gaze soft and tender.
“Can we take it slow?”
Realisation hits him like a storm. He steps back. “I’m so sorry-” “No!” “No, I’m sorry if I rushed you.” You cup his face in your palms. He continues to whisper apologies, but you press a kiss onto his lips to shut him up.
“Stop.”
He looks at you, his face small in your hand. He looks just like he did all those years ago, cute but handsome.
“No, let me explain.”
He takes your hand and brings you to the couch. You both sit down, your hands clasped in his own. “Let me explain why I left you in my last year of college.” You shake your head, not ready to ruin this moment, but he doesn't stop.
“When I started seeing you, I did not know who your father was. I was scared- when my mother took ill, I had to peddle drugs to continue my education and provide her with a decent treatment. When I found out that your father was a big-shot businessman, I had to detach myself from you. Because if he knew that we were together, he would’ve hurt you. And it was easier for me to see you hate me rather than hate everyone else around you because of me. But…” You stared at him, waiting. “Go on?”
“There’s, umm, more.”
“Yes?” You ask, your mind hazy with all the information.
“But I was not able to hide from your father. He found out about us, and he threatened to send me away from the country to separate us. I didn’t have any option but to move away from you. I’m sorry.” His voice wavers when he notices the silent tears falling from your eyes, you biting your lips.
“Y/N… don’t cry, please.”
“No no, but there’s something I don’t understand…”
“How I founded the startup and the story moved on till here?” You slowly nod your head. “When your father forced us away, I was hell-bent to take revenge. I needed to show him that I was worth his daughter’s hand in marriage, even if we never ended up together.”
You gasp. “So the scandal…?”
“When I disappeared and came back after a few years to start my company, you father had not recognised me at all whenever we met.” Seokjin laughs, “but I had never forgotten him. The scandal was a coincidence. But even if it hadn’t happened, I was determined to find my way back to you, Y/N.” He picks up your hand and kisses it softly, and you feel a single tear fall on your fingers.
“I’m sorry.” He whispers.
You have nothing to say, you’re rendered speechless. You simply lean forward to kiss his forehead, and stay like that for a while. “I’m sorry if I ruined the mood.” He chuckles, and you can’t help but laugh out loudly. It’s good to hear his high-pitched laugh after so long, and you look at him fondly. “I’m sorry too, Seokjin, for hurting you.” “Don’t apologise, love.” He hugs you gently, and you melt in his embrace.
“Thank you.” You whisper in his ear.
“For?”
“Spoiling the mood. We needed to have this talk now. We can always do the nasty later.” He laughs out again, your bodies shaking. He presses a soft kiss on your lips. “I love you, baby.”
You smile, your heart finally at peace.
“I love you too, Seokjin.”

Meet mum.
A/N: I do not think Nikki would be like this. Written for entertainment purposes only. As always hope you enjoy! I only changed the setting of the request.
Based on this request:  Hey I was wondering if You could do a Tom imagine where he brings the reader home to meet his parents and brothers but his mum don’t like her and judges her but Tom gets angry and sticks up for her ect.
Warnings: Language.
W/C: 2.5K. Wow how’d this get so long?
To say you were nervous too meet Tom’s family was an understatement. The only member of his family that you had officially met was his brother Harry, who you got on with really well. You were going to a restaurant in town, completely Tom’s idea, he was adamant that it was time you met the rest of his family and you were excited but also nervous.
You finished up getting ready and made your way downstairs were Tom and Harry were waiting.
“Sorry, I just needed to finish my hair off. It wasn’t cooperating.” You said as Tom grabbed his keys, wallet and jacket. He moved towards, placing a swift kiss to your cheek.
“That’s alright darling, we’ve got loads of time. You look beautiful by the way.”
“You look so nervous Y/N! Lighten up, my family are amazing, I’d say you’ve met the worst of us when you met Tom.” Harry laughed as he took in your tense posture.
“Oi! Don’t start already, you only get worse when Sam is with you.” Tom laughed as he gave Harry a light slap to the back of the head. “He’s right though love, they’re lovely, they’ll love you.” Tom reassured you with a smile as he grabbed your hand and you all made your way to the car.
**
The drive to the restaurant was quite relaxed, making your nerves die down slightly and you mostly had Harry to thank for that. He was consistently making jokes in order to settle your nerves. As you pulled up you realised that you were the first ones to arrive, having not spotted anyone else’s car. You made your way in, taking your seats at the large table, looking at all the empty seats, reminded you just how big Tom’s family was, and the nerves came back quicker than they’d settled.
“Sorry I’m late! Didn’t finish work on time!” A voice pulled you from your thoughts. You looked at the male as he approached the table, this was Harry’s twin Sam, that much was obvious. “You must be Y/N! I’ve heard a ridiculous amount about you.” Sam teased as he pulled you into a hug. “Sam, the better twin and superior brother.” He joked as he punched Tom’s arm before hugging him too. Okay maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.
“This is going to be a long dinner then?” Tom groaned as he watched the twins greet each other. You engaged in small conversation as you waited for his parents and final brother to arrive. It wasn’t too long after that they did. Paddy making his way over first.
“Hey guys!” Paddy said as he approached the table, taking a seat next to Sam.
“You won’t get a hug from him Y/N. He’s a typical teenage boy, I’m sure stuff like this has inconvenienced his night somehow.” Harry laughed as he watched Paddy pull his phone from his pocket.
“Shut up Harry! You were a teenager once you know. Hi Y/N, it’s nice to finally meet you.” Paddy said as he offered you a small smile.
“Where’s mum and dad?” Tom asked as he furrowed his brows.
“Dad was parking the car and mum went straight to the loo, they won’t be long.” Paddy answered, more interested in his phone than the conversation. You laughed at his typical teenage response to social events, reminding you of how you were at that age. Just after he’d said it you watched another man arrive at the table, presumably Tom’s dad.
“Y/N, this is my dad Dom. Dad this is Y/N” Tom said as he got up to hug his dad. You stood up as well extending your hand for him to shake unsure of what he would have expected as a first response, a hug would be too much maybe?
“It’s nice too meet you.” You said shyly. Dom laughed as he pulled you into a hug, startling you at first.
“We’re huggers if you hadn’t already gathered. Well, everyone except Paddy, he needs a couple years.” Dom laughed as he let go of you and took his seat next to Paddy. Tom grabbed your hand under the table, giving it a small squeeze to reassure you that this was going well.
“Paddy how many times do I have to tell you, it’s rude to be on your phone at the table.” A woman’s voice suddenly interrupted the light conversation. You looked up at Tom’s mum, she was beautiful. Paddy groaned before shoving his phone back into his pocket. “Hi Tom.” His mum said as she hugged him, she eyed you up and down, before mumbling a quick ‘hi’ and sitting down in the final seat. Your nerves were back, had you done something to offend her?
Tom cleared his throat awkwardly before engaging in conversation with Sam. Harry leant over towards you. “Ignore her, she can be like that sometimes, she’ll snap out of it.” Harry whispered as he gave you a reassuring smile.
You all ordered after five minutes and light chatter, started out amongst the table. As the starters were served, Dom switched the attention to you, which in hindsight, you really wish he hadn’t.
“So, Y/N? What do you do for work? Tom’s told us a lot about you but at the same time not all that much.” He laughed.
“Yeah it’s cause he’s always talking about how pretty she is.” Paddy mumbled as he stuffed his fork into his mouth, Tom’s cheeks burned red as he mumbled a ‘fuck off’ in his brothers’ direction. Paddy laughed at him before adding. “Not that he’s wrong! I didn’t mean that in a bad way, it’s just all he usually talks about when you come up in conversation.” Paddy stumbled over his words as he thought he may have caused offence, you laughed, again being reminded of when you were an awkward teenager and thinking anything you said would be taken as offence.
“I’m a book editor. I’m hoping to move into script editing because I think that’d be more fun but for now, I’m with the books.” You answered confidently as you smiled at Dom. Your smile faltered as you heard a scoff come from Nikki’s direction. Tom eyed her carefully before he cleared his throat and spoke up.
“Yeah, it’s great. She gets to travel with me a lot because she doesn’t have to go into a workplace to do her job.” Tom said as he finished his starter. Shortly after they were cleared. Tom took your hand again under the table, interlocking your fingers.
“That’s great! How long have you been doing that?” Dom asked, taking a sip of his drink.
“About three years, I graduated at 21 and got straight into it.”
“Ah, so you’re the same age as Tom then?” Sam asked.
“Yeah, he’s a couple months older than me.”
“So how did you meet? Like I say Tom has told us a lot about you but at the same time nothing at all.”
“We met in a pub actually.” You laughed as you recalled the memory. “I wasn’t sure Tom would remember talking to me let alone remember he’d taken my number. He was really drunk.” You teased as Tom went red again. Everyone laughed except for Nikki, who eyed you in a way that made you feel quite small all of a sudden.
“So, did you know who he was then? When you gave him your number?” She asked in an accusatory tone.
“I mean yeah, I’ve seen all the marvel films, so I did know who he was, but that didn’t really matter to me. I liked Tom for Tom.” You answered carefully.
“I’m sure you did.” She said as she gave you a sarcastic smile before sipping her drink.
“Mum.” Tom groaned before squeezing your hand that was still in his.
“What? I’m just making small talk.” She answered as Sam and Harry rolled their eyes. Paddy shifted awkwardly in his seat as he watched the conversation unfold. Luckily the main course arrived to settle the tension.
“So are you hoping to get into script editing through Tom’s career.” Nikki asked. Dom choked on his drink out of shock as you dropped your fork back onto your plate. The question completely taking you off guard. Tom’s hand found your thigh as you saw him tense next to you.
“You don’t have to answer that Y/N.” Sam said as he smiled at you.
“No, it’s okay. That’s not how I’m hoping to get into script editing. I’ve been applying for different companies for a while now, before I met Tom actually, I just haven’t had any luck.” You answered as your eyes met hers.
“But surely you would have hoped Tom’s career would help if you haven’t had luck.” She sneered.
“Nikki.” Dom hissed.
“No that’s not it at all.” You answered, slightly offended. You knew what she was implying but it wasn’t true. You could make your own way in the world.
“We’ll see.” Nikki said as she continued to eat. The atmosphere around the table had shifted dramatically it was incredibly awkward now.
After you had finished your mains, things hadn’t got much better. Everyone was engaging in small talk, but no one dared shift the attention back towards you. Well, for a while anyway.
“That’s a nice necklace.” Nikki suddenly said out of nowhere. You clutched the necklace that was around your neck, it suddenly felt very heavy around your neck.
“It’s from-“
“Tom? Yeah I’d have guessed. Is it real gold?”
“Yeah but-“
“Of course it is.” She sneered as she rolled her eyes at you. You suddenly felt like this wasn’t going anywhere and you felt the tears brewing in your eyes. You excused yourself from the table, finding your way into the bathroom.
**
“What the fuck was that?” Tom asked his mum as his nostrils flared.
“Don’t swear Tom.” Nikki replied. Paddy was eyeing the exit at this point. He knew it wasn’t going to end well.
“Okay, sorry for my language. My question still wants an answer. What. Was. That?” He asked through gritted teeth. He’d never in his entire life felt so angry with his mum. He looked at his dad who just offered him a small smile.
“I don’t know what you mean. I was just making conversation.”
“No, you weren’t. You were being rude. Why?”
“I’m just making sure she’s good enough for you.” Nikki answered her son, honestly.
“By making her look like a money grabbing, opportunity seeking bitch?” Tom fired back. Trying to keep his anger under control. He didn’t want to cause a scene in the middle of a restaurant. Nikki just shrugged and he felt some of his anger spill over.
“That’s not fair mum! I pursued her! She hasn’t once asked me to help her further her career, in fact she’s very careful to try and keep herself distant from what I do and what she wants to do. That necklace you felt the need to point out, came from her grandma, it was left to her after her grandma passed away. Something her granddad bought for her grandma. But of course, you’d have known that had you let her speak. I am so beyond angry with you right now, mum. You had no right to speak to her like that, you don’t know her, I do. I’m also a little offended that you take me for someone who can fooled. I get it you want to protect your kids, but you can’t treat people like that. You need to give her another chance, because I love her, and your little show tonight won’t change that.” Tom felt some of his anger dissipating. His brothers and dad looked at him, almost as if they were proud?
Nikki’s expression dropped at her son’s words. She suddenly felt immensely guilty. Tom was right, she’d taken it too far and judged the poor girl without giving her a chance.
“I’m sorry Tom.” Nikki said sincerely trying to meet her son’s eyes.
“Not me you should be apologising to.” Tom crossed his arms as he refused to meet his mum’s gaze.
“Your right.” Nikki swallowed as she got up from her seat.
“I swear if you’re on your way to upset her again, I’m going home.” Tom called after his mum as she made her way into the bathroom. He sighed as he looked at his dad.
“I know your angry son and I know she had no right. But forgive her yeah? She had your best interests at heart even if she went about that the wrong way.” Dom said as he offered his son a reassuring smile.
“I know. It just upset me that she treated her like that.”
**
You’d managed to stop the tears and you were splashing your face with cold water trying to get rid of the redness in your face. Would Tom believe you if you said you weren’t feeling well and let you go home? No, then you’d be taking him away from his family. You were pulled from your thoughts as another person joined you in the bathroom. You didn’t look at them, didn’t want to draw attention to your tear stained face.
“Y/N? I’m sorry.” You heard you were shocked as you turned around to see Nikki. You didn’t say anything, not wanting to upset her further.
“I mean it. I’m sorry. I just get so protective of him you know. He has had girlfriends like that in the past and I’m just scared someone will take advantage of him again. I know I shouldn’t treat him like he’s naive, but I can’t help it sometimes. I’m truly sorry for the way I have treated you tonight. It was unfair of me to judge you when I don’t know you.” She said as she smiled at you. You sighed as you took in her words.
“Look, I get it. I get that you want to protect him but I’m not like that I swear. I really do love Tom for Tom. I’d love him whatever he did for a living.” You said sincerely. Nikki smiled as she pulled you into a hug. You hugged back.
“Okay, let’s get you cleaned up. Let’s start again?” She asked you hopefully.
“I’d like that.” You mumbled as she helped you fix your appearance. You made your way back to the table Tom, instantly standing and pulling you into a hug.
“Are you okay? Did she upset you again?” Tom whispered protectively into your ear. “Tell me if she has, we’ll go if that’s what you want.”
“It’s okay Tom. She apologised. We’re going to start again. I get were she was coming from in a way.” You whispered back as he squeezed you tighter.
“Doesn’t make it right.” He mumbled and you hummed in agreement before whispering “let it go, okay,” kissing his cheek before you both sat back down. He didn’t let go of your hand all night. The rest of night went by without any more awkwardness, in fact when you left, you’d argue that you and Nikki had gotten quite close. Tom let his anger towards his mum disappear over the course of the night and when you all left to go home you made plans to do the same again next week and everyone left far happier and content than when they’d arrived.

Stripped on Stage
A commission I received from @gaystripstories! You can also find him on Twitter here. And you can support him by buying his stories on Amazon here.
I'll out the actual story below the cut. It's about a cocky young Broadway bound hunk who has an embarrassing incident on stage during his big debut. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
Tumblr media
Before the Show:
Hey, just wanted to stop by and wish everyone a great show!
A sea of blank faces stared up at him, but he kept plodding on to get the reaction that he  desired. Walking further into the crowded dressing room, he finally stopped right behind me.
I miss the camaraderie of being packed down here with everyone… it’s so lonely having  that dressing room upstairs all to myself. I usually just spend time before shows lying on my  couch until first call.
Looking up, I saw his face forcing itself into what he thought was a genuine smile. For  someone who was apparently a much better actor than our poor little show deserved, he really  had such a hard time hiding his true emotions.
Roger Stilton had quickly made a name for himself on Broadway. A Julliard grad just  like his rich father, he headed straight to Broadway and began booking any role he wanted. With  leading man good looks, his slicked back dark hair, and a jawline that could cut steel, Roger  actually could have earned his roles without daddy’s donations.
As I continued looking up at him, I realized two things. First, his blush was much too  heavy for a theater as small as this one.
Roger, sit down- let me help you out a bit. Quickly standing up in my boxers and  undershirt, I let him plop into my chair before wiping a makeup wipe across that beautiful face.  Here’s a tip when you’re not sure how strong to make your blush- you have to see what it should  be naturally and then add two swipes.
Quickly taking hold of the bottom of his t-shirt, I ripped it over his head to expose that  chest to the whole room. His perky pecs and six pack abs were to die over, but for some reason,  even with all of that narcissism, he didn’t like showing off his body.
See- that’s the color you want.
I saw his eyes connect with his reflection to see the blush covering his cheeks, and I  added a bit of my powder onto his face to match. Grabbing his shirt, he just awkwardly held it in  front of him before walking back out of the room with his parting words flung over his shoulder.
Well, let me let you get back to getting ready… I just love having a great ensemble behind  me on stage.
I wanted to hate him, but I couldn’t. At least not for another week. He’d joined our show  after workshops, and even if I wouldn’t admit it, he was the reason we’d gotten our residency at  our off-Broadway theater. He was already booked for his next role in a few weeks in one of the  larger theaters, but if I had anything to do with it, I wanted to put his name in the news for  another reason. It was time to confirm the second thing that I realized once Roger walked in  here.
Listen up. Every head turned back towards me this time, but unlike Roger, I could tell  that they wanted to hear what I had to say. I had a couple of decades on all of the younger actors
around me, and they looked up to me since I’d give them actual advice. We’re a go for tonight.  Raise a hand if you’re in.
Smiling to myself as I saw every hand quickly raise into the air, I knew that this would be  one show that Roger or the critics in the audience would never forget. I don’t know if Roger  knew that we’d picked up on it, but there was a lot of info that he gave away. He was using us as  a launch pad for some serious acting cred, and we were using him just as much. And for weeks  of workshops and performances, we existed together, but the last month had been different. He’d  starters treating us as disposable ensemble members even if the small cast all had named roles.  So, tonight, on the most important night of his run, we decided to get back at him. Looking up at  the timer on the ceiling above us, I realized that it was almost time for our first phase of the plan.
Act 1:
Look at him- if he wasn’t such a huge ass, he could really be the next big thing. Sorry- all I heard you say was huge ass, and I got distracted.
Playfully slapping Sam on the arm, I kept watching Roger act as we waited for our cue.  Our show was a new take on the classic murder mystery, and each night, Roger dramatically died  on stage. The twist, the reason that we’d made it out of workshops, was that a new killer was  chosen each show. The audience could return night after night and still get a new experience  since we improved a lot and only kept core scenes consistent.
This was one scene that was always the same, so Roger felt confident enough to ham it up as he looked at the two women in Row 2: The New Yorker and New York Times. They of  course had names, but Roger only knew them as the critics that he needed to impress. And he  truly was acting his ass off… and that was quite a challenge. Those dark gray slacks were barely
stretched over that ample peach of a bottom, and I was reminded again that I was happy with the  game plan. And as he placed his glass of water back on the table, it was time for round 1.
Natasha and Joslyn entered from stage left as Sam and I appeared from stage right, and in  a flurry of motion, we began bombarding him with questions.
Sir, would you like the dinner menu?
Please.
Sir, would you like a wine list?
That’d be delightful.
Sir, would you like your water glass to be topped off?
Certainly.
Bending down, I poured the contents of my pitcher into his glass and across his chest. Oh monsieur, I am so sorry- let’s get you out of those wet clothes immediately.
Patting him down with the hand towel, Sam walked behind him and began unbuttoning  Roger’s shirt. In utter shock, Roger just sat there staring at the pitcher that I’d laid down in front  of him- the one that looked completely normal. In every other show, a special prop had been  used that only held half a cup of water, but tonight, it looked like I’d grabbed the wrong pitcher  from the props table accidentally.
There we go- we’ll have this dried and steamed before you even get the dessert menu…  not that it looks like you eat dessert often.
He tried to cover his exposed chest as we left stage, but the tiny menu couldn’t cover  much. If he pulled it down, he exposed his perky pecs with his dark brown nipples shining under  the harsh lights, and if he pulled it up, you could see the happy trail disappearing into his pants.  As we all stood offstage in one giggling group, we watched the switch flip over in his head. He
had just made the choice- he could either be embarrassed about being half naked on stage, or he  could continue acting so that the critics would write about how he powered through adverse  conditions. And he chose the second option… at least for now.
Act 2:
After improving some line about remembering that he had a spare suit in his car, he  quickly walked off stage with his muscular back facing the audience. Once he disappeared into  the curtain, he began quietly yelling for the prop master, but he was nowhere to be found. Also  gone was the random rack of clothes that had been hiding in the wings for decades, so as he  rushed around, Roger only had time to grab someone’s suit coat and walk back on stage.
Darling! Is it my birthday already? I thought I wouldn’t get my present until tomorrow.
With her quick change successfully completed unlike her costar, Natasha was in a skin  tight dress and now playing Roger’s girlfriend. Walking circles around him, she began to  massage his tense body, and it seemed to be having an undesired effect on his lower half.
Can I unwrap my present early?
I’m so sorry love, but the weirdest thing happened at dinner earlier. I had time to grab a  spot of food before coming here, and then…
As he began to sit down, the small blazer completely ripped down the middle, and the  ruined fabric fell in two pieces down each arm. Natasha was really hamming it up now as she  jumped up from the prop bed to kneel in front of her blushing boyfriend.
I was joking before, but what else is about to come off? Did you somehow trade outfits  with a stripper?
That time in the gym must have really filled out my shoulders.
Then flex for me, Romeo. Let me see that body that’s all mine.
Doing as told, Roger stood up and began to flex his muscles as he faced the audience. His  tanned chest seemed to glow under the lights, and I heard the audience getting into it more now.  If there were any repeat customers here, then they knew what normally happened here. Natasha  would have her birthday party, and in the commotion, Roger would meet his demise. But that  always happened fully clothed.
Roger’s biceps were glistening in sweat, and his trimmed chest hair was as well. He was  breathtakingly gorgeous, and if only he wasn’t so cocky, we would have all adored him. As I saw  that blush spread further across those beautiful cheekbones, I wondered if there was something  more human under there. Just maybe…
Oh, I just can’t resist anymore- come ravish me!
With strength that I didn’t know she had, Natasha pulled Roger towards her as they fell  into the throes of passion on top of that bed. The audience was losing it as Natasha’s legs  comically kicked into the air before wrapping around Roger’s ample ass. She was kissing him all  over as Roger tried to break free for his cue.
Oh honey, that special suit jacket wasn’t the only birthday surprise that I had planned. In  fact…
And this is where everything went so, so right. Roger lunged into a standing position  without even feeling Natasha’s fingers hook into the two small holes that had come undone on  each side of his tearaway pants. I don’t know how he hadn’t noticed earlier that we’d swapped them out before the show, but they’d stayed together right until they were needed.
In comical slow motion, the back half of his pants fell to the floor as the front stayed  gripped in her hands.
You got me exactly what I wanted!
As Natasha jumped to meet him, we all started streaming on stage, holding balloons and  shooting party streamers into the air. The only one that was still was Roger who was somehow so  very, very visible in the middle of all of this chaos. With his pants gone, he was now standing  there in only his shoes, his nylon socks held up with leather garters on those strong calves, and  an impossibly tiny pair of baby blue bikini briefs that were trying their hardest to stretch over his  large frame.
We all took a cue from the audience and focused on Roger as he stood petrified on stage.  His hands hung limply at his side, too embarrassed to even move them to cover up his impressive  bulge and thick pubes that were showing over the stretched waistband. You could have heard a  pin drop in the eerie quiet before one camera flash went off from the audience followed by  several more. I saw our one underpaid usher try to stop the cameras, but it was too late.
Finally urged into action as he saw how many photos of him would soon end up online,  Roger finally spun around to try to find his pants, his jacket- just anything to cover himself up  with. Seeing the bed sheet that had been flung into the floor, he reached to grab it, but I was too  quick and stepped onto it to keep him from getting it.
Standing back up, he had rage in his eyes as he looked at me, and he had no idea that  even more photos were taken now of him. From the back, his tiny briefs had been wedged  between those glorious cheeks, and he was exposing almost every inch of skin that he could.
It was you- you’re the one that did it!
He was about five minutes early with that line, but Roger’s embarrassment had finally  taken over his need to impress the critics. That was usually what he said when he discovered who  the killer was right before falling to the ground, but now, he was saying it to me even though  Joslyn was the one who’d dropped the ‘poison’ into his pasta in the previous scene.
What are you talking about? It’s me- your best friend!
A best friend wouldn’t do this on the most important night of their life!
Reaching forward, he grabbed onto my shirt and yanked it apart. Buttons went flying as  my own chest was exposed to the crowd. My mouth was trying to hard not to break into a smirk  behind my trimmed salt and pepper beard as I backed away from Roger. Following me back  under the lights, he just kept going.
You’ve always been jealous of me- my career, my body, everything! Do you know how  hard I’ve fought for this? Do you?
He truly believed the words that he was saying even though he’d never had to go to an  open casting call in a crowded building downtown. He’d never had to squeeze into a borrowed  pair of LaDucas and dance for hours just to be told that they’d gone in a different direction. Oh  no, Roger had never felt rejection like that which is what would make what happened next even  sweeter.
He lunged at me, and we fell in a heap on the floor. The audience, even the return  viewers, probably had no idea that anything had gone wrong. Everything we’d done had been in  character, and only one thing would be able to prove to them that this show had gone off the  rails.
Roger’s body was gyrating around on top of me, but he never landed a punch. He wasn’t  angry enough for that, but he was too flustered to even know what to do. He couldn’t handle this  humiliation, and he was just lashing out. And then, it all stopped. As we tussled, we both heard  the pop and froze. It could have been anything, but we both knew exactly what it was.
The Final Bow:
And the award goes to Roger Stilton!
The cameras all swung towards him as he tried to duck down into his seat. This is not  how he wanted awards season to go. He had just lost the Best Actor award for his starring role in  Thoroughly Modern Millie, and he was about to go to the bar until he heard his name called  again. Looking up at the big screen, he saw the category that he didn’t even know that he was  nominated for- Best Quick Change.
With the DramaDesk award in hand, the late-night talk show host who had no business  being here walked on stage. I was sitting on the side in the cheap seats, but I could still see  everything. The last time that I’d seen Roger was when I’d been lying shirtless beneath him. I  watched as he sat motionless in his chair, and he only got up once the screen started playing a  video from that night.
He was kneeling on top of me, and as we wrestled, the tiny strap on the right side of his bikini briefs popped right off. With his ass aimed right towards the camera, his pendulous cock  fell into view between his legs, and he tried to cover himself unsuccessfully with his hands. As  he moved, the rest of his underwear fell apart and landed on my chest leaving him completely
naked.
Standing up, he kept spinning around, turning one way and then the other to hide his  embarrassment. His hands were clasped over his manhood which left that ass completely  exposed. His tight waist made his bubble butt even more impressive, and the untanned skin acted  as a beacon for everyone’s eyes and cameras. I’d watched this scene dozens of times from the  comfort of my own apartment, but as Roger walked on stage to confront the host, I realized that  he probably had tried to forget this ever happened.
When Audra Macdonald won earlier, she serenaded us with a few bars. Roger, what do  you plan on showing off to this crowd?
The crowd was going wild, but unlike that fateful night, the crowd was over five times  bigger and full of people that Roger wanted to impress. He tried to put on a fake laugh and grab  the award, but even from this far away, I could see how strong that blush was as the host kept  going.
No seriously, I think we need you to show it off! What does everyone here think?
I let my cheer join the crowd as we egged him on, but he still wasn’t budging. And then,  the host looked right at me, and I pinched myself to see if this was all a dream.
Do we need your old costar to come help out? He knows his way around this stage since  he’s performed here a few times. Come on up!
The spotlight hit me, and now it was my time to feel a little shy. I’d been a background  dancer here in a few awards show opening numbers, but I’d never been up there individually.  Would my big break come decades later than it should have?
Stepping on stage, I saw Roger’s heart drop, and my nerves suddenly vanished. He let the  host turn him around, and I realized that he was petrified again.
Make me change my mind, Roger. Why shouldn’t I expose you again for how you treated  us on that show?
Tommy, please, don’t do it.
I could have been nice and joked around with him as we walked offstage to pretend like  this was a planned bit. But, he messed up.
Roger, you didn’t even learn the names of your costars. My name is David- Tommy  worked the sound board.
And before he could react, I grabbed onto those tuxedo pants and yanked them to the  ground. The button ripped off easily, and they gave me no resistance before sliding down to his  ankles. He’d learned his lesson from earlier and was wearing a pair of black trunks, but I still had  a little bit of humiliation left to give him. I could and should have stopped there, but I didn’t.  Grabbing onto his waistband, I pulled his undies to the floor and stepped back to let him have the  spotlight all to himself like he desperately wanted.
His half-naked body was projected onto the big screen again but in real time now. His  ample, untanned ass still jutted out from his athletic body, and as he tried to bend down and grab  his pants, it jiggled with every movement.
Looking down into the audience, I somehow made eye contact with Jan, the critic that  Roger always referred to as The New Yorker sitting not too far from where I’d been seated. As  she began typing onto her phone, I realized that Roger would get that big headline after all.

Sentence starter?
“Do you think the moon is jealous of how pretty you are?”
Misto x Tugger? :3c
I was scrolling through my inbox when I realized that I never wrote with this sentence starter! I am SO sorry this sat for so long! I hope you like it though, and thank you for the suggestion, sweet petal!💗
-Magnolia🌺
PS: First of all: This was written in one sitting, so I'm very proud of that. Second of all: Here is, I guess you can say my Christmas present too you all because I haven't been writing for a long while, and I'm sorry about that, but Life has been busy and hectic plus the lack of motivation, but I'll try to be better. Third of all: Thank you all for the support that you've given me this year! I really do appreciate it more than you may even begin to realize. Fourth of all: That Loki fic I promised; it will be coming even if I don't have 100 followers anymore. If I hit it before, I could do it again. I'm still gonna write that story anyway. When it'll be out...I can't truthfully give an exact answer, BUT I will have it out as soon as I can. Thank you again, my lovely petals.
It was a pretty normal evening. Nothing too eventful was going on. Munkustrap was on his usual patrol with Alonzo. Their respective mates, Demeter and Cassandra, watched the toms off to the side while having pleasant conversation with Bombalurina. Victoria was out having a stroll with her tomfriend, Plato, around the courtyard. Meanwhile, the Rum Tum Tugger could be found just relaxing in his den with his magical mate, Mr. Mistoffelees.
Tugger laid on the blanket covered cushions on one side of the den as he watched his tomfriend practicing some illusionary magic. The small tuxedo cat switched from fireworks to sparks of electricity before a small and gray toy mouse appeared in his paw. The Maine coon's tail rose excitedly at the sight of the toy, his reaction quickly noticed by the magicat who teasingly smirked and tossed the catnip scented trinket causing it to land on his mate's nose with perfect precision.
Tugger flinched at the sudden action but caught and wrestled with the toy like a kit as Misto watched in amusement. Though he gave a quiet chuckle, the tribe's flirt still heard his snickering. He paused his antics, having been caught on his side with the rear end of the mouse in his jaw with his forepaws gripping it and his hindpaws kicking at the toy's underbelly. He sat up sort of shyly with a light blush, but he didn't mind since it was just Misto that saw this side of him.
Speaking of the magical tom, with his head thrown back a bit with a happy grin, Misto couldn't resist the bubbling laughter that burst from his chest as his tail lightly flailed a little in hilarity. Tugger watched on in amusement and adoration at his lover's mirth, his own tail waving beside him in delight. He gazed on at the features of his tomfriend from head to toe. From the way his ears flicked a little when he was excited in some way or even now occasionally as he laughed, to the way his eyes would crinkle at the corners from his happy grin. From the way his nose would scrunch up at his laugh to his adorably little (but strong) fangs shown by his smile. From his sturdy shoulders shaking at each exhale to his abs clenching at the force of his mirth to his leg muscles tensing to hold him steady and upright as he calmed from his laughing fit. Not to mention the tip of his tail still flicking in enjoyment at the moment.
All the while, his fur was as soft and sleek as velvet. It gave the perfect sheen in the moonlight that made him sparkle without meaning to. Heck, he'd even sparkle on his own when in emotional delight. Just like now. He was sparkling and shining like the star that he was. Like the star that Tugger saw him to be. Said Maine coon gazed on with a buzzing warmth growing more and more in his chest. It wasn't until Mistoffelees finally calmed down from his bout of laughter did Tugger's next words come stampeding before he could catch himself.
"Do you think the moon is jealous of how pretty you are?" he uttered so plainly. The tuxedo tom paused in surprise for a minute to process his partner's question. A light blush dusted both of their cheeks at the sentiment before Misto finally responded, "Well...what makes you say that?" "I mean...look at you!" Tugger exclaimed excitedly before he continued, "Your slick, black fur! Your cute little ears! Your precious paws! Everything about you is SO beautiful! You have the perfectly round face that looks just like the moon in its pale glory! I bet you the moon itself hides behind the clouds sometimes because it's overcome with envy at your beauty." Tugger reached over and grabbed and held his lover's paw and finalized earnestly, "Misto, my love, you are the prettiest and most beautiful cat I've ever laid eyes on. And this is the honest truth."
Mistoffelees sat there flabbergasted at the affirmations. He was speechless. What could he say? It was so much just now, but he didn't realize that there was so much more that ran through the Maine coon's mind and heart that just couldn't be put into words. Through his silence, small tears pricked the corners of his eyes as he coped with the thoughts from his tomfriend. Tugger grew worried at the loudly quiet and thick atmosphere that seemed to set over them and asked timidly, "Misto? Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" But, it was quite the contrary as the magicat gave a few fast but deep breaths before he jumped into the flirt's arms to give a strong and tight hug and breathing out, "I love you too!" Tugger fell back at the impact but gave a jubilant laugh at the return of his affections as the pair rolled a little along the cushions of the den from the force of the pounce while huge and happy grins were glued to both of their faces.
They finally stopped and ended in a position where Mistoffelees laid on top of Tugger's chest, pressing down some of the fluff, and the two gazing deeply into each other's eyes. Both could see the pure love and infatuation that the other held and made certain of that love's presence with a tender but passionate kiss. While the tux's paws rested on either side of the Maine coon's head for balance, the fluffy tom wrapped his own arms around the smaller cat's waist and rested one paw on his side and the other on the back of his head to deepen the kiss and pull him impossibly closer.
After a couple of minutes into the kiss, the two broke away for much needed air. Mistoffelees laid his head on Tugger's chest and listened to his heartbeat, his own heart beating in sync with his mate's. He gave a soft and content sigh and whispered with a gentle purr, "You're beautiful to me too." "Oh, I know," the floofball joked, giving a bit of a chuckle at the light smack on his chest before he wrapped his arms around his love even tighter with a happy purr. Off to the side, their tails twisted around each other and relaxed on the soft blankets beneath them as the pair grew more and more comfortable in their position and fell asleep as the moonlight shown through the makeshift window and lit up the sparkles of Mr. Mistoffelees coat like that of the night sky.

HM Slave
Tumblr media
[STORY SOURCE]
The Generation I games. Definitely not perfect games by any means, but they were fun to play.
It's a shame my old cartridge’s battery has been long since dead. Makes sense, it was a hand-me-down from an older sibling of mine. Between both of our times playing it, it was bound to die sometime.
I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to play it again after so many years...
The trouble was, I had no intention of learning how to replace the battery, or buying a new cartridge. None of that appealed to me.
Tumblr media
So, I just took it upon myself to play it without saving. Any time I wanted to stop, I’d just plug it into my charger, and leave it be.
Tumblr media
Everything about this run was just for nostalgia. It was nothing personal to me, so I didn't name Red after myself or something.
I wanted to play through this game without getting attached to anything.
Tumblr media
The best way to go through without caring? A starter-only run. I chose Charmander, since it was the cover ‘mon, and also my favorite of the three. Not necessarily because it would make the game easier in the long run.
Of course, there’s no way I’d be able to get through with just Charmander.
My plan was to catch a Pokémon specifically to use as an HM slave, so my Charizard wouldn’t be clogged up by useless moves in the long run.
Tumblr media
And what better HM slave than the one who can learn them all, right?
In Generation I, you can’t delete moves in any way, so an HM slave was absolutely necessary.
Not like I hated Mew or anything... I just never performed the Mew glitch as a kid and thought that this would be a fun opportunity to try it.
Tumblr media
The darned thing did everything within its power to not get caught, blowing through every single one of my PokéBalls that I’d prepared to catch it with. Hey, it wasn’t like I was going to need them later, so I didn’t complain.
Tumblr media
I decided to nickname the little thing. I’d heard the term “HM mule” thrown around in place of HM slave, so I thought it would be funny.
Tumblr media
Of course, picking the Fire type had its rocky start, with its disadvantage against the first two gym leaders.
I managed to scrape by with scummy tactics, though.
I’d switched to my Abra that I’d caught to perform the Mew glitch, and let Misty knock it out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that, I switched to Mewl for the free turn, and then healed my Charmeleon. Then, after Mewl fainted, I got a free switch into Charmeleon.
Tumblr media
When the battle was over, I could proudly claim the Cascade Badge.
This was Mewl’s secondary purpose, to be switch fodder for me to heal my starter.
Tumblr media
Things were going fine until Mewl learned Cut.
Tumblr media
The first instance where Mewl’s “skills” would come into play.
This was a game where you couldn’t use HMs from the overworld, so I went to the menu to manually select it.
Tumblr media
“MEWL ignored orders...”
Now, imagine my surprise when my slave wouldn’t listen to orders. I tried a few more times, with the same result.
I attempted to rationalize it, picking my brain for a reason. I assumed that you could not use HM moves while a Pokémon was fainted, but something about that didn’t seem right.
Tumblr media
I healed at the Pokémon Center to be safe though.
Tumblr media
That seemed to work, so I assumed that I was right and continued to Surge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nothing really unusual happened during the fight, but Mewl was knocked out again for a free heal.
On my way out, I had to cut down the tree blocking Surge’s gym again. I was worried for a moment that I had gotten myself stuck, but Mewl cut it down just fine.
I figured the game would let me use HM moves if I would be trapped otherwise.
Tumblr media
I went back to the center to heal up my starter, and my stubborn little mule.
(And Abra too, I guess.)
Tumblr media
I caught and released a few throwaway Pokémon to obtain Flash, which I immediately taught to Mewl.
Tumblr media
I made my way to Rock Tunnel.
Tumblr media
”MEWL won’t obey!”
I was frustratingly met with this. It was fully healed, I couldn't understand why it was disobeying. I wondered if it was some sort of consequence from having an illegitimate Mew...
I kept trying and trying, but no matter what, it wouldn’t light the cave.
I was sure this little bugger didn’t want to wander around in the dark just as much as me, so I really couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
Tumblr media
I tried checking its summary, to which its blank, neutral expression had changed to something more... defiant?
I didn't know what kind of sick joke Morimoto was pulling on me by programming Mew to be this way, but I wasn’t having any of it.
Tumblr media
It dawned on me that Abra could also learn Flash, so I just let Mewl be prissy and lit up the cave with Abra.
I somewhat regretted my choice to teach Mewl Flash. If I had known it was going to act like this, I would have just taught it Fly instead…
I decided to go ahead and skip getting Fly, since Charizard couldn't learn it anyway.
Tumblr media
Thankfully, I made it out of Rock Tunnel just fine.
Tumblr media
Charizard made Erika’s gym a total joke, so I didn’t even need Mewl as fodder for this fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The whole game was going fine so far up to Fuchsia City, and I had completely forgotten about Mewl’s disobedience by now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had obtained its final two moves, so I booted the HMs up and slapped them onto it.
Tumblr media
Of course, to use Surf and progress, I had to face off against Koga.
Tumblr media
Things were going well up until Charizard couldn’t deal with Koga’s last Pokémon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I sent in Mewl to heal my Charizard.
Tumblr media
”Enemy WEEZING used SLUDGE!”
Tumblr media
“MEWL ENDURED the hit!”
Strangely, when Weezing attacked Mewl, it didn’t get knocked out in one hit like it was meant to. Instead, it stayed in the field.
Tumblr media
While I wanted to question it at the time, I just used a Hyper Potion on my Charizard to get it back to full.
Tumblr media
”Enemy WEEZING used SMOG!”
Tumblr media
“MEWL ENDURED the hit!”
Sure enough, I wasn’t dreaming. Mewl was somehow surviving all of Koga’s attacks. Normally that would be pretty cool, except for the fact that Mewl was level 7 and therefore effectively worthless in this fight.
I had to wait for it to faint to switch to Charizard, but Mewl kept surviving every hit that was thrown at it.
Tumblr media
”Enemy WEEZING used TOXIC!”
Tumblr media
“MEWL”s hurt by poison!”
Tumblr media
“MEWL fainted!”
Thankfully, it eventually became poisoned and went down, so I could send in Charizard to finish the job.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made quick work of Koga and his Weezing after that and made my way out of the Gym.
Tumblr media
But weirdly, as I was leaving, I couldn’t help but notice the screen flashing as if a Pokémon in my party was still poisoned.
I checked my party again to see what was up.
Tumblr media
It seemed like Mew had a custom sprite for being knocked out that I never noticed before. I didn't even know if that was a thing.
But it was definitely knocked out, for sure, so I brushed it off as some sort of bug.
Tumblr media
I figured if anything would fix the poison glitch, it’d be healing at the Pokémon Center.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
”If you drive your POKéMON too hard, they’ll dislike you.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
”Please take better care of your POKéMON.”
I was confused at this text. Was this dialogue hidden for players like me who let their Pokémon faint over and over? Whatever it is, I have never seen it before.
Tumblr media
”We hope to see you again!”
The nurse went back to her chipper disposition afterwards though, so I figured I should just be on my merry way as well.
I checked up on Mewl to see how it was doing now.
Tumblr media
It seemed like the nurse just haphazardly patched it up. Mewl’s expression still looked tense, but I hoped that didn’t mean it wouldn’t use its new HM moves.
Tumblr media
I made a quick note to take down Giovanni at Silph Co. and Sabrina. My Charizard was actually getting a bit over-leveled, so I swept through without needing to use Mewl to heal during battles at all.
I decided that on my way to Blaine, I would fall back on my training a bit.
Tumblr media
I back-tracked over to Fuchsia City since it was faster than going all the way back to Pallet Town.
I made my way down by the Fuchsia coast and hoped quietly that Mewl would let me Surf to Cinnabar.
Tumblr media
Thankfully it seemed like the 1’4 cat was perfectly fine with me riding on its back, with no defiance at all. I felt confident, like I was finally getting enough gym badges to make it obey.
I'd even gotten it to listen when I needed it to use Strength in the Seafoam Islands. Things were really looking up.
Tumblr media
I’d finally hit land and was ready to storm the Cinnabar Mansion and claim Blaine’s badge.
Tumblr media
I was feeling pretty confident with my Charizard’s HP and level that I wanted to take on the Gym without healing at the Pokémon Center.
I had plenty of Potions and Revives in case of emergency, anyway.
Tumblr media
All of the quiz questions were normal, except... This bizarre one.
“You treat all your POKéMON fairly?”
Though it had been several years since I played this game, something felt off about it, like it wasn’t supposed to be there.
I half-heartedly answered yes, despite knowing it was untrue. My logic was, at the very least, that even though I as a player didn’t care about these Pokémon, maybe Red did.
Tumblr media
”Sorry! Bad call!”
Tumblr media
The buzzer went off and I was harassed by a trainer. I was appalled... Was the game really criticizing me as a player?
Had I hit some sort of secret flag after making Mewl faint so much? I couldn't understand what was happening.
I didn’t give myself much time to think about it though, so I healed up my Charizard with some Potions and took on Blaine.
Tumblr media
Charizard had fainted again, so I left it up to Mewl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I healed up my Charizard and expected Mewl to hang on like before, but it just went down with no resistance.
Tumblr media
With my seventh gym badge in hand, I was pretty happy with my run so far. A couple more hours in and I’d be done, I thought.
Tumblr media
I was ready to Surf north towards Pallet Town and claim my eighth and final badge.
Tumblr media
“MEWL ignored orders!”
But I received a friendly reminder.
I had forgotten that Mewl didn’t like using HMs without being healed. I really didn’t feel like taking it to the Pokémon Center though, so I just carelessly threw a Revive at it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hoping that the Revive would be good enough to satisfy it and let me ride on it again, I mashed through text a few times to see if I could brute-force it to listen.
Tumblr media
”MEWL won’t obey!”
Tumblr media
”MEWL turned away!”
It kept bombarding me with the same defiant messages over and over, until...
Tumblr media
“MEWL hates you.”
I was caught off-guard. This text didn’t have the same energy as the others, lacking an exclamation point. It sounded like flat, cold, genuine hatred.
I pressed A again, and attempted to order another Surf. Not necessarily because I wanted it to Surf now, but more out of a morbid fascination with such intense text.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“MEWL used instead, FLASH!”
Suddenly, like in a battle, the screen lit up totally white.
Tumblr media
I was booted out of the party screen afterwards, and immediately noticed a distinct lack of an items menu. Had Mewl taken it from me?
Closing out of the menu, I spoke to the Pokémon now standing next to me, knowing exactly who it was supposed to be.
Tumblr media
”Mew!”
Mew’s cry played. I already knew it.
Tumblr media
“MEWL hacked away with CUT!”
I flinched, horrified at the thought of Mewl directly attacking my trainer.
Tumblr media
”HM01 was destroyed!”
But then I realized, it wasn't that...
Tumblr media
”HM03 was destroyed!”
Instead, Mewl had stolen my items...
Tumblr media
”HM04 was destroyed!”
… And was proceeding to destroy each of my HMs, one by one.
Tumblr media
”HM05 was destroyed!”
Tumblr media
After destroying HM05, Mewl’s sprite disappeared; presumably back into its PokéBall.
Tumblr media
I was exasperated, but quick on my wits.
I still had Fuchsia City's Pokémon Center as my last saved location, meaning I could use Abra to Teleport back to the mainland.
I was smug, thinking I'd found a loophole around Mewl's attempts to sabotage me.
Tumblr media
”ABRA used TELEPORT!”
Tumblr media
“ABRA ran away!”
Tumblr media
I panicked, to say the least. I frantically scrolled around my party page. How could Abra have disappeared like that? I wasn't going to accept Mewl being my only ride back to Pallet, it was impossible.
Tumblr media
I desperately went to the PC inside the Pokémon Center, in some vain hope that maybe Abra had just been sent there somehow.
Tumblr media
”MEWL used STRENGTH.”
Tumblr media
“The PC was destroyed!”
I couldn't believe it.
Mewl had gone full rogue.
I suddenly had to come to grips with the horrifying realization...
Tumblr media
I was trapped in Cinnabar with no way off.
I went through what I can only describe as the five stages of grief.
Stage 1 - Denial
Tumblr media
I scoured the internet for any other Pokémon in Cinnabar Mansion that I could use to escape the island.
I quickly remembered that Mewl had already destroyed my HMs and stolen my items, and realized I couldn’t catch anything.
But I did have one more plan.
Tumblr media
If I could knock out Charizard and Mewl, I could be sent back to Fuchsia. It would take a bit of work for Charizard to eventually faint, but I was prepared to try anything.
Tumblr media
”CHARIZARD ran away!”
But I couldn’t be prepared for my Charizard running away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was so shocked that I didn’t even want to send in Mewl, I just said no and fled the battle.
Tumblr media
I fell into absolute despair. Mewl had not only ruined my chance of getting off the island, but now, even if I did, what would I do without the only Pokémon I’d been raising?
Stage 2 - Anger
Tumblr media
I’d never thought malicious thoughts about this Mew before, just casual indifference and sometimes mild frustration. But I can’t say that I didn’t want some payback towards this Mew for wasting several perfectly good hours of my life.
I sadistically thought about how I would make it faint, and then how I would torture it over, and over, making it repeatedly faint until maybe it would measure up to Charizard’s strength.
Tumblr media
“MEWL ENDURED the hit!”
I couldn't stop myself from shouting "NO."
Despite Mewl’s apparent injuries, it hung on with one HP.
Tumblr media
Again, and again, no matter what I did. No matter what Pokémon I faced.
It seemed like nothing could poison it, burn it, kill it.
Then, it dawned on me…
Tumblr media
Maybe this was what Mewl wanted all along?
Stage 3 - Bargaining
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mewl’s stubbornness and special ability that made it unable to faint...
It took Mewl a long time to faint its first real opponent, due to its low level, but in the end, it grew.
Tumblr media
I checked Mewl’s summary for some sort of sign, anything at all, that this was what I was supposed to be doing. It stared at me with its vacant, unreadable expression...
Perhaps it was shocked I had battled with it? Whatever the case, it wasn’t staring at me with hostility anymore...
Tumblr media
So it was silently agreed between us, then. Mewl and I, we did our first ever grinding session.
It took a few hours, but Mewl’s level was growing steadily. Things seemed to be going well, until...
Tumblr media
We ran into our first wild Ditto.
I thought it was strange, having not found a Ditto for all this time I'd spent in Cinnabar Mansion, but I didn’t see any trouble with fighting it, so I just let the battle progress.
Stage 4 - Depression
Tumblr media
The Ditto transformed into Mewl, who appeared to have a sad expression on its face.
I quickly pulled out of the battle screen and into my party to see if something had changed with Mewl.
Tumblr media
I checked to see Mewl, who had that same sad expression as the Ditto. Its status had changed from "OK" to a worrying "...".
Tumblr media
I knew something was wrong, so I fled from that battle and every battle afterwards.
Tumblr media
Though I had avoided it before on hopes of somehow escaping to Fuchsia City, I gave it all up to heal Mewl, who had risked life and limb to impress me.
After it was healed, I checked its summary again.
Tumblr media
Though it had fully healed, it still had that depressed look in its eyes. I couldn’t understand want it wanted. I didn’t know what it needed.
But I realized that it was getting pretty late, and I wanted to get to sleep soon. I would have to leave the game on, and leave Mewl behind.
That was when it hit me.
Could it be possible that Mewl knew I hadn’t saved? Did Mewl somehow understand that no matter if I saved or didn’t save, it would disappear when I turned the game off?
I hadn’t really thought about it until now, but Mewl was more special than any other Pokémon I’d ever played with.
And if I turned the game off, it would disappear forever.
I didn’t know how to feel about that.
Tumblr media
I went out of the Pokémon Center to reflect about this with Mewl.
Tumblr media
I still wanted to finish the adventure with it, if it would let me.
Stage 5 - Acceptance
Tumblr media
“MEWL doesn’t want to go.”
That was okay, I thought.
I realized that even if I went with Mewl to the Pokémon League, and won, then the game would return to the title screen and not save my progress.
Maybe Mewl understood that, too.
So then we were at an impasse, together on Cinnabar Island.
I didn’t know what to do. Even if this Mew was special, even if I genuinely believed it was real, I couldn’t just keep my GameBoy on forever. What would anyone else think?
Tumblr media
I decided that for the first time in this entire run, I wanted to save my game. I didn't want to turn it off just yet, but at least save, as some sort of precautionary measure.
I hoped, that in the event the GameBoy turned off for whatever reason, a miracle would occur.
Tumblr media
”Would you like to SAVE your MEW?”
It seemed that the game knew exactly what my heart wanted, and I selected yes.
Then, all of a sudden, my game turned off. Not due to low battery or anything, but it just turned off.
I panicked for a moment, and quickly switched the game back on.
Tumblr media
It was gone. The save file was gone.
Or, rather, it was never there to begin with.

A/N: i used to listen to this song nonstop and it just suited how sad this is so no happy endings for this one🤺
Tumblr media
"Keiji!"
You watch as she runs up to him, engulfing him in the sweetest hug you could ever imagine. How you envy the feeling of being welcome in his arms. His eyes soften at the sight of her, as she rambled on how amazing he was. He gives her his heart fluttering smile as he lets his palm set on her shoulder, kindly thanking her for watching and supporting him throughout the entire game.
Did your shouts of love become silent to him?
She grabs his towel, patting it lightly on his forehead as he blushes finding the gesture extremely embarassing for the girl he longs for to just wipe away his sweat. He tries to stop her but she insisted, even grabbing her water bottle and giving it to him, asking him to drink some water and rest.
"Hey hey hey- look at me please."
Bokuto says, coming from behind you. You turn to him with water baring eyes, a heartache eating you up with every second you continue to watch. Bokuto sighs as he pulls you in his arms, his chin resting on your crown, as he caresses your hair as you let out an agonizing sob. Bokuto sees the way Akaashi didn't bother to spare them a glance, as Akaashis overall being was captivated by the girl that was beside him. He coes her, whispering how he's got her and he'll never have the courage to let her go, the way the dark haired boy did.
"We won today yeah? Why don't we celebrate?" Bokuto tries to tone his voice in his usual cheery self but feels defeated when he sees her. Y/N looks up at him, he tenses up as he holds your head, an instinct that you were going to look again. You were mid way into letting your eyes land on them but Bokuto stopped you as he held your face in his palm, looking at you with an expression you were well familiar with.
"Y/N."
" 'Taro, shit I'm sorry!" You shouted before wiping away your eyes as his heart winces seeing his friend poorly attempt to regain the sunshine that she once was. Puffed cheeks, swollen eyes, red tinted nose, what a cruel sight yet she dared to cover all of these with a smile. It was disgusting how she made it look so believable, fooling almost everyone that witnessed her little facade. Bokuto falling for it countless of times but has learned to tell the difference every now and then, fitting in for the spot of her once best friend who knew exactly what she was truly feeling.
Akaashi would've read her like a novel he loved but it seems like it wasn't as timeless anymore.
It was now up to Bokuto to handle the shattered girl, even when her own broken heart pierced through her like a knife everyday.
"I-I know a good place to eat at! Maybe then I can treat you for being my favorite ace?" She offers with a sickening chuckle. She was achingly trying. He only gives her a smile, accepting her efforts of hiding how empty she felt. He lets his arm fall on her shoulders, comforting her with everything he can do.
"Oh! I'd like that, kind of like a double date huh? Seems like I get to treat my favorite setter too!" Akemi states, eyes darting towards Akaashi as he becomes flustered with her words. Bokutos eyebrow furrows, and with a pout he tries to insist that you didn't want her to accompany them, but you let your arm come before him as he questions your decisions.
"Sure! The more the merrier right, Ko?" Akemi claps her hand as she gathers her things, Akaashi doing the same. Bokuto takes notice of your longing gaze as he pulls you with him.
"So is that right? I'm your favorite?" Bokuto teases, as you laugh punching him lightly on his shoulder. He chuckles but was taken by surprise as you wrap your arms around his neck, standing on your tip toes to reach him. He immediately wraps his arms around your waist as you pat his hair, nuzzling your face in his neck as you smile, feeling gratitude for an amazing friend like him.
"You were fantastic earlier, I'm sorry for being so-" Bokuto cuts you off with a shout of triumph, making you confused as he pulls away. He wouldn't let her continue her sentence, knowing he couldn't stand hearing her blame herself for something she couldn't handle.
"Ah! What a starter! Thanks Y/N! No wonder I'm the best huh?" He shouts closing his eyes, putting his hands on his hips smiling to himself. You laugh, enjoying how it fed his confidence. Akaashi turns to the two of you watching how Bokuto oddly portray his muscles as you laugh loudly. Akemi smiles beside him, finding the duo quite suited for each other
"They should date! Bokuto makes her so happy!" She claims, as Akaashi blinks, shaking his head turning to meet her green eyes.
"She hates guy who shows off their muscles like that. She think's its a bit cocky." Akemi laughs at Akaashi, since what he said sounded like a known fact.
"Maybe everything can change when she's with him."
She states, making his eyes widen. Impossible. She can't just switch her words just because of Bokuto. He says to himself. Once he hears how genuine your laugh was and realizes that the ace was the cause of it, he stiffens at the thought of the you and the captain together. Akaashi was the one to introduce you to him so it was a surprise you two would come together like that, especially when he felt how Bokuto adjusted to you quite quickly.
"Ooh Y/N likes that color! Will you get it for her, Akaashi?!" Bokuto asks, pointing excitedly at a plush toy. Akaashis blue eyes turned to the location where the finger was pointed and he smiles seeing an immensely cute plush toy he knew you would love but this glee ends when he realizes that Bokuto managed to remember your favorite color.
"Bokuto-san, I'm impressed you knew what she liked." He said with an amused smile. The other boys eyes glimmered in the moonlight, remembering your past conversations with him.
"It's easy! Y/N always talk about many things and it's so freaking awesome. You've known her for the longest time right 'Kaashi? She's so cool." His words bring a smile to the setters lips, loving how Bokuto got along with you so well.
"Oh wait! Akaashi!"
"Yes, Bokuto-san?"
"Well! You've been with her since you were young right? So that means.. you like her!"
Akaashi coughs on his water looking at Bokuto. Bokutos cackle echoed through the air and his words consuming Akaashi's thoughts.
"I do like her but not romantically ok?" He defends, but Bokuto let's out a displeased scoff skipping ahead of the flustered setter. Happily moving knowing he's got him on a hot seat.
"That can change Akaashi!"
And it did.
For Y/N to watch Akemi casually serve Akaashi his food, it was like being tortured in a chamber or watching it to make your brain rot. They look perfect, she thinks. Bokuto was eating happily beside him, and setting aside how hurt she was, she chose to ignore the throbbing of her heart. Akaashi was in front of her as Akemi was in front of Bokuto. The two were in well conversation as Bokuto tried to gather your attention while he brings up how excited he was for a new move.
Dropping your chopsticks, you curse as you got out of your chair to bend down and reach it. Grabbing it in your hands as you look up to see a hand covering the sharp corner of the table. Your eyes follow it and realizing it was Akaashis hand, protecting you if you were to hit your head. This minimal effort was enough to set your soul on fire, admiring how he was able to act so quickly and composed. You return to your seat, Akaashi watching you steadily to make sure you were back. You give him a nod, thanking him for being observant as he smiles to you instead.
Just maybe.
You feel the rising heat on your cheeks as you sip water, hoping it were to ease your frantic heart. You observe Akemi, and painfully suck in the harsh truth that you couldn't deny. Everything that Akaashi has told you about his dream girl, the list of expectations he's had, it was all her. The embodiment of what Akaashi wants to hold, to love and to keep. You hear how her laughter sounded like gentle music, even her personality radiated nothing but sunshine.
All you can do was sigh, when a dream like her already has captured the heart of the young boy you grew to love.
She drops her phone, somewhat mirroring your actions beforehand. Akaashi turns to her immediately, as your heart took another strike seeing him mimic the same actions he had with you. Hand covering the edge, with a gentle hand on her back as she picks up the device leaving you stranded in strings of pain. She smiles at him, casually resting her hand on his as a thank you. Akaashi immediately blushes before placing his other hand on top, eyes lovingly holding onto hers.
The string of hope that you held on for dear life, immediately broke as you let the cup of water fall from your hands, taking an excruciating hit as you were brought back to the silent beating of your heart.
I'm certain that I'm yours.
Or at least I thought.
Bokuto calls your name multiple times as he frantically wipes the spillage of the water that was on the table and on your attire. You felt towels pat your lap gently as Bokuto still continued to put effort in grabbing your attention. Akemi looks at you concerned, worried for whatever thought that you had in mind was enough for you to completely lose your grip on reality.
"Y/N, hey!"
"I didn't think I'd be able to stay with you this long, Y/N." He says with a smile as you walk with him. It was early in the morning, both on your way to school. Coffee in both hands as you give him a pout, finding his statement in a different tone.
"You make it sound like you're unfortunate." You joke as Akaashi laughs beside you, sipping coffee before letting out a satisfied sigh.
"You've been with me even before I got in Fukurodani. I'm just really happy I've found somebody to turn to." You smile as your fingers brush against each other in which at the contact made you both blush. All the tension that was held in the moment was a bunch of unheard confessions, both unwilling to let them speak.
"I'm lucky I have you too, Kei."
"Seems like someone isn't technically happy of sharing the spotlight with me." Akaashi teases pointing at a very sleepy Bokuto who was walking up to you two.You giggle at the setter, while his blue eyes stayed on your smiling lips, relieved that it didn't fail to make him smile as well.
"Y/N."
A stern voice makes your gloomy eyes trail over to a pair of blue ones you were addicted to.
"Y/N? What's wrong with you? You made a mess." He says, completely knocking you off your limit. You stood up, hands on the table with your head down as Bokuto grunts knowing exactly what was bound to happen.
"I'm sorry Akaashi."
"That was reckless. You could've spilled it all over us, even Akemi-"
Bokuto winces when the name slips off of Akaashis lips as you hastily grab your wallet placing the money to Bokuto and mumbling a sorry before rushing to leave, tears falling from your tired eyes once you were out of the restaurant. Bokuto observes the way Akaashis eyes remained enlarged when it hit him how harsh he was. The captain wished that this worry of Akaashi would last long, since this was his first time seeing the setter show any concern for the poor girl in such a long time.
"Bokuto, will she be alright?" Akemi asks him, as he lets out a shrug of defeat. Akaashi bit his lip feeling the responsibility of his actions weigh on both him and the ace. He knew that Bokuto would never be able to comfort her the way he does, and reading her expressions when she left, reassuring her wouldn't be as easy.
Because he was the reason why she was hurting, not even realizing the damage has been done too many times already.
Your feet felt like weights as you ran, feeling the burn of guilt pass through you. On your way to pick up some snacks and refreshments for their match, a certain sight caught your eye leading you to your current decision.
"Yes thank you!" You say with a smile before, leaving the store with the things you bought. You rub your eyes, hating how early you had to catch a bus for their match. This was your only chance to watch them again since you avoided Akaashi for days, making Bokuto your company. You apologized dozens of times to Bokuto for leaving him in an awkward situation. Of course he forgave you, deciding to treat you to a movie instead to erase your worry.
Suddenly a familiar voice spikes up your interest, your head turning left and right to find Akemi. Instead, a tall man walks pass you carrying a bag that you've seen multiple times. You shrug, not wanting to lead to conclusions knowing how Akemi was genuine with her admiration for Akaashi.
"Haru-san!"
Akemi greets, arms wrapped around the waist of the man. You turn to see the two hugging and you gripped the plastic bag in your hands, as Haru places a gentle kiss on her forehead making you stunned even more.
"So where we going later?" He asks, as you lower your head, trying to control your breathing. This is impossible. How could she just lead him on like that! You despised how you weren't able to save Akaashi from the beginning, and now it was your turn to drop a heavy bomb on your best friend.
"We'll meet up later okay? I'll just attend my friend's match."
Friends.
You immediately walked away, weakened at what she just said. No matter shape or form, Akaashi would be hurt, completely. It hurt you that you'd have to see the painful expression on Akaashis face. You bit your lip, trying to avoid the look of dismay on your best friend. You let out a sad sigh as you began to pick up the pace in your walk.
Is it his turn to feel hopeless?
You've tried your best to avoid him. The tension being unresolved between the two of you yet you were happy Akaashi understood why you've created distance between you and him.
Knowing the two were inseparable, you were the one to adjust whenever Bokuto would be heading to practice or even going to lunch. Although, Akaashi gave you some space knowing his outburst completely set a different side to your friendship. You two have never really fought in such a way, he knew even if it was a small fight there was a distinct aura that surrounded the two of you. Beyond what happened, he knew you were facing some other problem that he was clueless of and him adding to your issues wasn't helping the both of you.
So whenever the dark haired boy saw you bid goodbye to Bokuto whenever he was on his way to approach the captain, it stung in his heart.
Akaashi sighs beside Bokuto. Koutaro was prepping himself up completely, pressing his palms to his cheeks. They were up to play soon and the blue eyed boy wonders if she would be able to make it back in time. While he wonders about you, his mind swerves to Akemi. He finds himself foolishly smiling at the thought of them holding hands at the restaurant so he looks at his phone, finding her contact and glancing at their photo.
Next to her contact was yours, which he was hesitant to tap on. He shuts off his phone before seeing Bokuto wave frantically with a smile on his face. Akaashi looks at you, eyes shining knowing you made it just in time to bid him goodluck and hopefully to clear up the quarrel. You felt your heart leap with every step, a war in your head in how you were going to tell him. Your hands tightened as you walk over to them, Bokuto patting your head showing how delighted he was that you were there. Akaashi wonders if you could even spare him a glance.
" 'Taro! I have your snacks but- promise me you'll be the best out there and maybe I'll treat you later!" You say as Bokuto punches the air, his mind in a frenzy at the scenario in his head of eating his favorite food.
You turn to Akaashi, shakily grabbing his arm as he stiffens at your sudden contact. He looks at your weary eyes as you desperately tried to calm down.
"Keiji, can we talk?" Why did you say it like that? He asks himself. His name has never sounded so troublesome before. He fidgets with his fingers as he trails behind you as you lead him to a more private place. You felt the shivers reach your body, immediately bringing coldness at how anxious you were. This was the first time in days where you two would be able to converse properly again.
As you make your way to a corner, Akaashis feet was tapping furiously, scared of what you were going to say. He waits for you to speak as he watches you take a deep breath as you hold his arm once again. Softer than before but it felt like a desperate touch.
"Kei- you do trust me right?" Akaashi nods immediately, lips frowning at the tone of her voice. Is she going to leave me? Please say no. He wanted to get this over with so he wonders if you were just going to rip off the bandaid and end the friendship even if he was willing to apologize multiple times. But then, how could you end it just because he was right about being reckless?
"Akemi- she has a boyfriend, Keiji-"
"You came.. to tell me this?"
"Akaashi- I-I know you like her but"
"God Y/N how could you.." Akaashi exclaims as you aggresively run your fingers through your hair, before grabbing his jacket trying to make him stay. He stands there in shock, as rage and envy flow through him overwhelming him in the process. His hands form a ball as it tightens quickly at the thought of how Akemi was just being nice all the time.
Akaashi looks at you only to find truth in your eyes but his heart betrays the both of you, now broken and in denial that the girl he adored was dating somebody that wasn't him.
"Akaashi, please listen to me! I don't want you to get hurt..believe me!" You pleaded, throwing away how hurt you were from the drastic change in his tone.
"Hurt? So you think you're being considerate then?" Akaashi questions her with spite in his tone. His demeanor towering over her as she crumbles at his voice. Akaashis heart coming back to the reason why it was guarded in the first place.
"Keiji.. you know that's not what I mean!" You defended yourself as Akaashi scoffs. It was mocking you how composed he looked yet the tone of his voice was laced with pure hatred. Deep down, Akaashi accepted the fact that he could never really win Akemi but he was blinded by the pain that you brought him.
"You're just jealous, Y/N. Stop lying." He continued, making you shake your head as you tried to grasp his jacket again but this time your hands barely touched the fabric making your heart gasp at how Akaashi was out of your grip.
"I didn't know you could pull off being a liar, and I don't see myself being a friend with a trait like yours."
The tears flowed down your cheeks as you let out a shakey breath, in disbelief at what he just said. I'm not lying, Akaashi. You promised me you trusted me.
"You said you t-trusted me, Akaashi! How could that change for you!" You shouted as he was brought back to Akemis words.
"Maybe everything can change."
"You promise I'll be okay?"
"I've got no reason to doubt you." He says smiling as you lean your head on his shoulder, tracing random lines and doodling away on his soft skin. Under the beautiful tree, with purple painted skies with clouds up above. After a stressful day on your side, the setter took notice of how you've let yourself fall onto your insecurities once again so he took it upon himself and brought you to a silent place to show you how you shouldn't worry about anything, comforting you with his kind words and him trusting you that would be able to regain your old self again.
"Certain things hurt and you're my only virtue." You confess as his heart spikes up its speed with your response. You sat up, gazing at the houses who seemed too tiny from your distance. You held your knees to your chest with lips formed in a relaxed state as you lean on your arm that was on top of your knee.
And I'm virtually yours.
Akaashi remained with his back on the grass as he admired your features wondering how you could ever put yourself down, when you took away his words whenever you were with him, hiding it perfectly and keeping his admiration far from you to avoid the continous breaking of his heart knowing he'd betray your beloved friendship.
I adore you, he thinks to himself as the only thing that reflected in his eyes were the girl he's lost to his wrong decision.
"You changed and it's disappointing. All because of jealousy? I've been with you for so long, how did you become selfish?"
Selfish. I must've been crazy then, you think. You let out a bitter chuckle, Akaashi frightened at this side of you you've yet to show him before. It was like poison consuming your body, in which the poison came in the form of his words.
"All I've ever been is selfless, god I even let you fall for someone else when I've been in love with you for years."
You took a step back as Akaashi stood where he was, feeling as if his feet couldn't leave the floor as he lets himself drown in your confession. He gulps as he was struck with regret since he had no idea how to respond to you. His eyes trail to the floor as he struggles to find the words.
Then the battle began, between in what he knows whose right for you and his heart who wanted no one else but you.
He was miserable. A side of him wanted to say how much he's waited for you to bid those words to him and claim that he's felt the same as you, but the other side wanted to badly decline knowing he was stuck in choosing you and Akemi. Akemi who has effortlessly tugged on his heart strings and gained it with her gentleness and beautiful personality, and you who's promised to stay forever and loved him longer than anyone else has.
Don't make me choose on who I love more.
He knew the time would come where his decisions would bare another heavy mark on him. He's already made a terrible one by putting his heart in the hands of Akemis instead of yours. He wishes there wasn't a deadline to this difficult decision, but to him it seemed like if he doesn't choose now, he'd feel the pain everyday.
"AKAASHI! LET'S GO!" Bokuto screams as Akaashi turns his eyes to you in a swift move, finding your eyes covered in tears but how come you looked like you felt nothing? You sniffle as you give him a warm smile, a reaction he didn't want to see knowing it wasn't a smile that could bring him joy.
"Goodluck, Akaashi."
He takes a step forward trying to capture you in his arms but Bokuto grabs him by the arm pulling him away from you, Bokuto saying goodbye to you as well and reminding you the promise you gave him. That moment, all that Akaashi wanted to was run and replace the silence he gave you. You deserved to hear what he truly felt, but his words were trapped as he still had to examine if he was choosing the right ones.
But he ran out of time.
-
The game starts and he prays for his performance to be at his usual best. Once Bokuto had the setter to himself, Akaashi couldn't hold back and told him what happened. Bokuto felt horrible for both of you, while feeling revengeful to Akemi since he too fell for her sweet gestures to Akaashi thinking that she actually liked him. Importantly, Bokuto badly wanted to be there for you. He knew how much you liked him so for you to confess so suddenly during your argument, it had the grey haired boy worried about you.
He couldn't blame Akaashi, as much as he wanted to. He acted in a way because he was suffering, but they didn't realize they both were. Though, he wished Akaashi could've treated her better, believed her. Bokuto believed her the minute Akaashi told him, and it was because he trusted her completely and she wouldn't speak out without a reason meanwhile Akaashi chose to hold onto denial.
And as they play, Akaashi looks over to the stands, searching for you when he came upon Akemis. The pretty girl with an arm wrapped around her shoulder as Akaashi loses the ball in his hands from the view.
"Akaashi, please listen to me! I don't want you to get hurt..believe me!"
"You said you t-trusted me, Akaashi! How could that change for you!"
Like the ball falling to the floor, his heart went along with it.
Scream. That's what he wanted to do. How absurd of him to get it wrong twice, there shouldn't even be any room for mistakes. I can't believe I lost her..again. Akaashi thinks. There was a painful ache in his heart, yet he couldn't set it free not wanting to let down the team. Especially in a match like this. He wanted to break, to land on the ground and let his consciousness scold him for hours. He deserved it. He should've learned but he was trapped inside a world where he thought Akemi would've been his everything, when he was blind to how powerful his love for you all this time.
Come back to me.
"Akaashi!" Bokutos hand reach his shoulder and all he could do was stare at a pair of blank eyes. Before the ace could ask what happened, Akaashi was clutching on to Bokutos jersey harshly taking the older boy by surprise.
"She was right." Akaashi utters as he points to the crowd making Bokuto squint just to find where Akemi was. Once he finds them, he sighs sadly before trying to come up with a response to cheer the boy up. It was obvious that Akaashi was too affected to perform properly. Lip quivering as if his world was destroyed twice.
"Doesn't that mean the only thing you can come back to is Y/N?"
Akaashi looks up to him, confused. Bokuto patted the boys shoulder with a soft smile.
"Look over there." This time, it was Bokutos turn to point to the other side of the stands to see you glancing over them. Akaashis eyes glimmered at the sight of you, like life was brought to him in an instant. Happiness couldn't be the only word to describe his emotions.
You were watching.
And he was going to win. Just for you.
This brings him a massive wave of energy, not digging into his thoughts. You smile wiping your heavy eyes seeing him back to his usual self. In his heart he was happy but a mistake shouldn't be rewarded by a smile.
Sticking to his promise, they won but an unfamiliar feeling sets in his skin making him stop in his tracks making Bokuto look behind him to see Akaashi with his hand on top of his chest and eyes straight to the floor. Bokuto grips the phone in his hand, biting his lip and looking down, his heart aching as well.
"Bokuto-san, where is she?" His voice cracks, a tear finally escaping his eyes. He lets out a soft sniffle looking everywhere for a trace of you. Bokuto just shakes his head as a response and Akaashis eyes widen as he harshly wipes away his tears with the sleeve of his jacket. Written in his lips and eyes, Akaashi was exhausted. At first, he thought that letting go of his emotions would be the answer but now he was letting them free yet he didn't wanna scream anymore. He already felt his throat dry at the realization.
"Doesn't that mean the only thing you can come back to is Y/N?"
You sank in your seat, numb to how wet your cheeks were from the continous flow of your tears. Your chest was heaving up and down but your eyes were already closed with tight lips pressed into a line. There were certain things you wish you could've done, but staying wasn't an option when you've gone through multiple battles already. This was the last straw.
Even if you did wanted to fight for him, would he do the same?
You let out a sigh as you open your eyes seeing the road and reminiscing on your last walk with Akaashi.
"What's her name again?" You ask, kicking a rock to the side before shoving your hands inside the pocket of your blazer. Akaashi smiles out of bliss at the thought of her smile and once you've got a glimpse of his expression, you question the drop in your heartbeat as you see him blush before fidgeting with his fingers.
"Akemi." He says, his heart beating loudly. Saying her name already brought the setter in touch with his emotions. It was unlikely for him to feel his heart flutter, but being around Akemi brought him to smile whenever she was there, get anxious to respond to her, and get a flush on his cheeks at the thought of her moments with him.
The name rings in your ears as you were greeted by the silencing beat of your heart. You watch as he turns to you since you've trailed behind him. You visualize how you've seen him with Akemi during lunch and that's when you knew.
It's never going to be me, is it?
"Let's go, Bokuto-san." Bokuto bit his lip, waiting for you to go to them and proving him it was all a prank.
"Akaashi-"
"She left already and I-" His voice breaks making Bokuto gaze at him in pain.
"I'm sorry I couldn't make her stay, Akaashi." Bokuto whispers. Akaashi drags his sleeve to his eyes again, hating how his eyes grew heavy with the tears that escaped his sorrowful blue ones. With a tragic wound embedded in his heart, he spoke.
"I couldn't either."

Paper Flowers: the final count down
Tumblr media
Roman and Virgil have a fight as the end of their character’s time on Vine draws nearer every day.
You are giggling as you finish reading a PrincexNemesis fanfic on AO3.
It was a great story about Nemesis, named Marcus/Marcia in the story, was cursed at a young age to switch gender every time the sun passed the horizon. Leading to the poor kid being Marcia by day, the Prince’s bethroted whom he could not stand, and Marcus by night, the Prince’s sworn enemy who he was madly in love with. It was mainly a very funny story and the author left it very vague which gender Nemesis was born with. All they said was that Nemesis would be stuck with the gender they were when the received their first kiss. Which was given to them as Marcus. The tension came from whether Nemesis would be able to avoid getting stuck as Marcia on the wedding day, as he preferred Marcus.
It was very funny, but also surprisingly deep. Or maybe you are reading too much into it.
Just when you pressed ‘post’ on your comment you get an alert.
It’s vine time!
The video opens up and you see Prince pushing of an enemy and stabbing him.
You can hear a cheer and the camera turns to dad. “That’s my boy!” he cheers.
Prince kisses a maidens hand. Once more a shout is heard and you see dad. “Great job buddy!”
Prince polishes his sword, yet another shout. “Just look at you!” dad squeals from the doorway.
Prince looks up exasperated. “Can you not!?” Dad looks sheepishly and slowly glides out of view.
You wipe away a tear as you let your laughter subside. Everyone who’s been to any game or play ever has seen one of those parents.
You’ve seen people on tumblr who have jumped on this ‘the characters all live in the same kingdom’ concept and ran with it. It was a fun world they’d created. Teacher was the Prince’s tutor. Nemesis had several potential backstories, from the son of a nobleman to an orphan servant in the castle. Prince was, obviously, heir to the throne. And dad was either a nanny to the prince and other children in court, or father to the Prince or the nemesis. It made for some fun imagined shenanigans, that was for sure.
You are curious though, what will come next.
...
“No.”
Roman groaned in annoyance. “Anxiety, I don’t need your cooperation to propose a skit idea to Thomas,” he reminded him. He didn’t, he’d never asked before they became friends. But they’d been doing so well on communicating since. What, one might ask, made Roman dismiss Virgil’s input now?
A couple of bad nights, for starters. The fact that they’d been having this argument in front of Patton and Logan for the past half hour, meaning he had to keep up pretenses. And lastly, Virgil was just being difficult on purpose it seemed.
All Roman wanted was to have a nice final skit between their characters before they moved to youtube. There still would be skits involving either of them, but he liked the thought of wrapping up the nemesis story line before starting the story of the prince of creativity and Anxiety on youtube.
Virgil, however, seemed unwilling to even entertain the idea of another Prince vs Nemesis skit entirely. Let alone one to wrap up the semi storyline they’d made.
“Then go ahead and do it. See if I care!” Virgil growled before storming off.
Roman let out a frustrated sigh and dropped in the couch. “Impossible! That man is simply impossible sometimes!” he complained loudly. He was angry with Virgil right now. He wasn’t even going to try to deny that. Virgil could be infuriating sometimes.
And he was going to complain and pout as long as he liked, thank you very much. He was not the unreasonable one in this scenario.
“Kiddo, Anxiety is just like that. You know that he has a tendency to disagree on principle.”
Roman huffed. He knew better. Virgil was not usually difficult for no reason. He was a safety measure of sorts. He made sure they all thought through every decision. Every action.
Often a little too much, but he meant it well.
It was rare that he gave Roman no room to argue. A straight up ‘no’, even before their alliance, was rare. There were arguments, objections, doubts. But ‘no’ was usually with very good reason.
Roman just could not phantom the reason right now though. Which was why he was so angry.
He had learned to manage patience when he could see the source of Virgil’s concern. But now?
“Actually Patton, usually when Anxiety disagrees with us, he has at least some form of reasoning behind it. Be it of an irrational sort. It is not often that he gives no form of motivation behind his outbursts. This would lead me to believe that he has reasons, he just does not wish to discuss them, or maybe even might not wish to acknowledge them to himself.”
Roman listened to Logan making perfect sense, as he tended to do. But he didn’t feel like really thinking about that. He was still upset with Virgil.
“Or maybe he is just in a rude mood,” Roman objected stubbornly.
Logan took in a deep breath. “As much as I dislike figuratively feeding your ego, Roman, I feel like the positive changes in his behavior over the last year might be largely due to you.”
Oh, now this was something Roman was willing to pause his sulking for.
He shot up and looked at Logan expectantly.
Logan looked like he regretted speaking to begin with. Luckily for Roman, Patton had gotten curious.
“What do you mean?” he asked. Roman thought there was a strange sting to Patton’s voice, but he must’ve been mistaken, surely.
“Roman… You have been different ever since you asked for your memories of interactions with Anxiety… What was it that you found in there?”
Oh, no. Damn him and his promises.
Roman shrugged, feigning losing interest. “He saved Thomas and his friend earlier that day, and he didn’t seem to consider that a big deal. So I got curious and looked back and found that most of what he said, like you mentioned could maybe be read as trying to help somehow.”
Roman prayed Logan wouldn’t ask more. Luckily he didn’t.
“I see. I assume that this new information led to you changing your approach to your communication with Anxiety and this led to him being less tense around you.
He let you convince him to interact with us, he made an effort to explain himself and collaborated more on your projects,” Logan deduced.
“Could it be that to Anxiety, the start of that positive change in his life is connected to the skits between your character and his?” he wondered.
Roman’s eyes widened. “What? So me ending that storyline feels like me rejecting him or something?” he asks a little incredulously.
Logan looked up in surprise. “Well… That is a possibility,” he nodded. Why was he so shocked Roman could figure stuff out on his own. He could be empathetic enough for this. He might be the ego but he was not that self-centered. Bonds with others was high on his priority list too.
“The poor kiddo feels like he’s all alone now,” Patton mused sadly.
Roman got up. He was not ready to feel bad for Virgil. Especially when he was being ridiculous. As if Roman would end their friendship like this. Did he think so little of him?
He stormed off to his room and landed himself on his bed.
He wasn’t in the wrong, it was not his job to apologize. He kept repeating that to himself but occasionally he wondered if Virgil was overthinking right now. Thinking that Roman hated him now…
No. He was not in the wrong, he got to be mad if he wanted to. Virgil got to be mad with him when he got lost in a monologue and got all kinds of ideas stuck in Thomas’ head without consulting anyone making Virgil feel like he had to be the bad guy for scaring Thomas away from the ideas he loved too much to let anyone else convince him to adjust them.
He’d swallowed his pride and apologized to Virgil then.
So he was going to be petty and stubborn for as long as…
There was a knock at his door. Roman shot up and walked over to his front door and opened it. There was no one to be seen. When he looked down though, he saw something that took his breath away.
He picked up the paper purple hyacinth and the accompanying note.
“I know you are mad. Please let me explain before you hate me forever? I’ll be waiting.”
Roman let out a sigh. Purple hyacinths represent sorrow and regret. And it must’ve been such a pain to get the paper to bend to his will like this.
Now Roman had to go and meet Virgil. He put the flower in the vase along with the rest of the assemble bouquet and hurriedly opened the door to the field.
“Virgil?” he called out before he even closed it.
The anxious man was pacing through the field, trampling a path in the ground.
Luckily the field fixed itself every time they left.
Virgil looked up and his shoulders relaxed. Clearly he saw Roman’s swift arrival as a good sign.
His anger already fading, Roman added the hyacinths to the field to show he’d gotten his apology gift and accepted it.
“I thought about what I said… Or didn’t say and… Maybe I was just… I didn’t want us to stop making skits together,” he rambled, playing with his hoodie sleeves and pointedly not looking at Roman.
Roman let out a sigh. Logan had been on the right path then.
“Virgil, you really think that I did not enjoy working on those with you?” he asked.
Virgil shrugged.
“Well I did. Therefore I will call upon your aid any chance I get. I actually expect you to assist me quite often in the creation of the sanders sides series and many other projects. I merely wanted to give the fanders a satisfying ending to the adventures of the prince and his nemesis on vine,” he explained calmly.
Virgil nodded. “Yeah… I’m sorry. Really I am. I was pretty rude to you and you did nothing to deserve it,” he said softly, glancing up at Roman nervously.
“You are forgiven, Grim Creeper,” Roman smiled reassuringly.
Then he got an idea. It would let him vent the last bits of frustration and Virgil could maybe work of some angsty energy as well. “If you really feel like you’ll miss the prince and the nemesis that much though…”
And just like that Roman summoned two swords, tossing one to Virgil who caught it in surprise.
“I shall teach you the art of the blade!” he declared.
Virgil rolled his eyes but smirked. “Let me have it Princey,” he challenged.
...
While the two younger sides sparred in the field, the fatherly side was headed to the stairs leading down in search of an anxious sides room. Hoping he’d be let in now.
“Patton?” Logan called.
Patton flinched at being spotted. Though he wasn’t sure why. Was it so bad that he tried to help Anxiety?
“Hya Logan!” Patton greeted sheepishly. “I was going to make sure Anxiety was okay…”
Logan cocked his head. “Patton, I’m obviously no expert, but if my interpretation of his thought process of today was correct, he feels rather vulnerable right now. While that might mean he’s more open to sharing and closeness, it also means he might be in a state of heightened alertness.
If you attempt to approach him now you could very well make things worse with small mistakes.”
Patton bit his lip. Logan was right. Anxiety was not in a right state of mind. If Patton wanted to him to let him in, then it couldn’t happen when he was feeling hurt and alone. No matter how badly Patton wanted to comfort him. Going in now would be for Patton’s sake. Not Anxiety’s.
“We will make our way back to him Patton. Who knows? Maybe Roman’s youtube project lends us a chance to interact with him more frequently,” Logan offered.
Patton nodded. They’d get there. Sooner or later they’d be a happy family.
He just had to be patient and let Anxiety decide when he felt ready to try again.

Σέργω (νοσταλγία deleted scene)
Tumblr media
νοσταλγία Masterlist
Σέργω (stérgōto): love (mostly of non-sexual affection), to show affection, to be content, to acquiesce (Ancient Greek)
Pairing: Ivar/Reader
Summary: So, another deleted scene/chapter. This takes place between chapter 26 and 27. It’s just filler stuff that I particularly liked cause it’s the closest thing I can get to fluff without making myself feel insecure.
Word Count: 1.6k
Warnings: Aside from the usuals to this story, mentions of poisoning.
A/N:Yes this is one giant thing of me just referencing Orpheus and Eurydice’s story and making a lot of parallels between Persephone/Hades and the Reader/Ivar. That is about it.
Self indulgent? Yes. Unnecesary? Also yes. Do I love it tho? Another yes.

And calm slowly but surely starts returning. Granted, it is slightly disrupted by the ‘diplomatic’ visit of one King Harald, who, according to Ivar, probably comes to Kattegat as a subtle reminder of the deals Ivar once made and to gauge at how stable the marriage proves to be.
And the possibility of children, which is not something you had considered before.
And something you won’t start thinking about now, definitely.
You smile in greeting, try not to recoil in disgust when the man with the inked face presses a kiss to the back of your hand; and for once stay quiet and only watch.
The nights that he spends progress simply enough, though you do notice Ivar goes to bed by the time you’ve already fallen asleep most of the nights the King spends in Kattegat, presumably talking with Harald, and you notice Hvitserk be colder than you could have ever believed him to be, as he smiles at the older man.
Even Ubbe, in all his apparent calmness, seems on edge during the time the other man spends in his brother’s kingdom.
The realization he is very much a threat, especially now that he has grounds to feel wronged by Ivar; is something you don’t know what to do with, how to feel about.
“Is he…a threat?” You ask one night, laying on your back in the darkness of the room you share with the man they made to be your husband.
Ivar sighs, “No. He is an ally. He is…angry, but nothing to be worried about.”
The low cadence of his voice, the choice of words…a part of you wonders if Ivar is truly trying to, in his own way, soothe you.
“You angered a great many people marrying me, didn’t you?”
“Just Harald.” He grunts, getting more comfortable.
“And me.”
Ivar smirks, “You won’t go to war against me.”
“For now,” You concede with a breathed laugh. After a moment, you whisper, “What will you do with him?”
“Giving him a looser leash in York will keep him happy. When Stithulf is dealt with and winter passes, we will raid from York again,” Ivar explains, closing his eyes again, “We’ll see then what we can grant him to keep him settled.”
You hum in response, letting your eyes fall closed. Too late you think about what you’re doing when you move closer to Ivar, one of your arms intertwining with his and your cheek resting against his shoulder. You feel him tense under you, and though you wait a few breaths in silence, he doesn’t move. He may not be breathing. With a sigh, you mumble, “I can poison him and make it look like an accident, you just say the word.”
That does manage to make a short laugh leave Ivar’s lips. You pretend to ignore how it trembles past his lips, how his breath is still uneven before he goes back to the unnatural stillness.
Though you consider moving back, wishing that he can relax again, you don’t move. He is too unbelievably warm for you to do anything other than closing your eyes and letting his controlled breaths lull you to sleep.
____
You eye the man with the inked face from your place at the other end of the long table, and, laying your chin on your husband’s shoulder, you silently demand his attention.
Ivar turns his head slightly towards you so, making good use of many late hours teaching him your tongue, you whisper, “I don’t like him, not one bit.”
He chuckles, and a strange pride fills you at being able to make him laugh.
In the accented and still rough Greek, he replies, “Me neither.”
“I don’t appreciate how he looks at me.”
Ivar smiles at this, a lot colder, a lot more…cruel. You know he delights himself in knowing he has you while others want you; especially someone like this King.
“He always wanted what he cannot have. But Harald is harmless.”
“No one is harmless here. Your people ar-…”
“Our people.” He corrects, switching to his own tongue. You roll your eyes.
“The people of Kattegat may be my people as well, but not…Vikings. You have strange customs and even stranger…moral values.”
“Didn’t you promise your love in exchange for an army?” He taunts without hesitation, making you narrow your eyes at him. Ivar offers only a shrug and a mocking smile in response.
“How else was I supposed to get one?” You intone after a moment, tilting your head to the side.
As the night progresses, though you find yourself offering too many fake smiles, you also find yourself learning a lot about the world -and family- you married into.
“And your wife…”
“Ex-wife.” Ubbe corrects, you remain in silence for a moment or two before you continue.
“Your ex-wife, she was…happy with this arrangement?”
“More than ‘happy’, I’d say.” Hvitserk points out, and a smiling Ubbe knocks his cup with his.
“Gods above,” You mutter to yourself, and the Princes laugh. Rolling your eyes at their reaction, you lean closer to your husband, whispering, “When you told me about her, you could have told me…about all that.”
Ivar only shrugs, a tension that only comes up, you’ve noticed, when that particular blonde is brought up coiling around his shoulders and back.
A woman that wasn’t so aware of the dark eyes of King Harald studying her ever since he arrived in Kattegat would have let her hands settle on her husband’s back; but you only stay silent and listen with an absent smile to the tale some rugged warrior starts telling.
“Did anyone tell you about Harald and the Princess he was supposed to marry?” Ivar asks by your ear a while later, bringing your attention back to him.
“I’m guessing it is a good love story.”
“There’s better ones.” He replies, and a smile starts to spread on your face.
“Like?”
He returns his gaze to the feast going on before you, and instead of replying starts telling you of a young Harald that set off to become worthy of a princess that -even though Ivar does not see it, and you are certain the protagonist of the story did not either- was never of a mind to marry him. He tells you of how he found her again and she had already married another, a man that, when it comes to land or titles, was lesser than Harald.
He tells you of how her husband was killed in front of her, and how there’s whispers that she tried killing Harald under the guise of seduction only to be stopped and slaughtered by the King’s brother.
He finishes the tale, and you consider the story in your mind as you chew on a few almonds.
“You feel sorry for him, don’t you?” Ivar asks, incredulous. You turn wide eyes to him, and before you can give form to your explanation, the Viking chuckles, “You do. Gods, woman, you’d let someone escape Hel if they told you a love story, wouldn’t you?”
“I…It was tragic. Moving.” you insist, still betraying a smile at the expression on Ivar’s face, “Stop it, it’s not a fault to have a soft heart.”
He laughs, probably at you, but you find yourself still smiling like a fool. Ivar leans back on his seat, and after a breath of hesitation -that you pretend to ignore, but you both know you’ve noticed- grabs your hand in his and intertwines his fingers and your own.
“Alright. Explain to me why it is that some old fool thinking a princess could love him enough to wait for him is…moving.”
You shrug, your eyes on the stark contrast between his hand and yours where they lay on your lap.
“He loved a woman she never was and she…well, she never loved him at all. Yet Fate brought them together, again and again. It is a tragic tale, as most love stories are, and…”
“And you like tragic stories.” Ivar finishes for you, and you roll your eyes.
“I don’t like them, they just…it’s easier to tell a tragedy than a happy story,” You lean closer and once again resting your chin on his shoulder as he looks back at the feast, you whisper, “Harald’s story with his Princess wouldn’t be one to tell if it weren’t tragic. With her death, with that fallout, the illusion of how happy they could have been, of how perfect everything could have been, remains alive.”
“Is that how you feel about that commander of yours?” He asks suddenly, and when you lean back in surprise he only grabs your hand tighter and keeps his eyes ahead, “You think of how perfect everything could have been with him?”
“Narses?” You ask, incredulous, “No, why would I-…?” Realization dawns on you and you narrow your eyes, “You can’t be jealous of a dead man.”
For a moment you see the clear tell that you’ve struck a nerve, but Ivar recovers quickly enough, leaning closer to you and eyeing you with a barely-there smirk in place.
“You were jealous of a slave.”
“Former slave. A slave you freed, and didn’t tell me about even when she became my friend.” You point out, furrowing your brows at the way his smile grows even more smug.
“I married you,” He reminds you, but you roll your eyes. Ivar chuckles, knowing, “Doesn’t help much, does it?”
“It should to you!” You insist lowly, “I never let him marry me, and he was…”
“Perfect?” He supplies bitterly.
“Someone that didn’t abduct me.”
“And why did you let me make you my wife then, hm?”
Because I wanted to, because it was the one thing that let me stay.
“The Gods only know.” You reply, mock annoyance on your voice, because you cannot bring yourself to be upfront, you cannot bring yourself to give away this truth just yet.

Be Careful What You Wish For
Fandom: The Wayhaven Chronicles Pairing: Ava du Mortain x f!Detective (Kira Langford) Rating: E - Explicit (NSFW) Word Count: 1962 Tags: established relationship, smut, teasing Description: Kira gets topped lol
Rebecca was late.
It wasn't the first time she got held up at the Agency and didn't manage to make it on time for the team meetings, but waiting for her arrival never failed to bring a kind of sense of anxiety to the warehouse’s occupants, who were currently settled about the room, each of them in their unofficially claimed spot. Morgan was perched on a side table in the corner of the room while Kira and Farah shared the couch, the latter sprawled on it with her legs thrown across the armrest, her head all but in Kira's lap. Nat was seated in one of the two armchairs by the fireplace, opposite to Ava, who could be easily mistaken for a statue had it not been for the tension radiating from her.
Kira's eyes subconsciously drifted towards Ava, assessing the vampire. Even though Ava has become more relaxed around her since the beginning of their relationship, she could still appear stiff and unapproachable when she was in her professional mode. Kira understood that part of Ava’s personality and would never even think of changing it, but she still worried for her whenever she seemed more tense than usual.
When the vampire's gaze finally met hers, Kira gave her a small, comforting smile. It did not get the response the detective was hoping for, even if it did soften Ava's eyes a little. Persistent as she was, she wouldn’t rest until she got a different reaction out of Ava. Just then, an idea popped up into her head and she took her phone out of the pocket of her jeans, typing in a message.
Kira Langford [1:14PM]: You look tense
Kira Langford [1:14PM]: I could help you with that ;)
Kira bit her lip and looked at Ava expectantly as the other woman reached into the pocket of her pants to retrieve her phone.
Ava read the messages, her brow furrowing just a little, before she put her phone face-down in her lap, staring at the opposite side of the room, clearly avoiding Kira's questioning stare.
Kira Langford [1:16PM]: No response? :(
The vampire's curiosity must have gotten the best of her as she turned her phone over to read the next message, which she — once again — promptly ignored.
Still, Kira persisted; she was nothing if a patient woman — she wouldn't be involved with Ava in the first place if she wasn't.
Kira Langford [1:18PM]: You keep reading my messages so I’m guessing they’re not entirely unwelcome...
Kira Langford [1:19PM]: Aren’t you just a little curious to find out how I’d help you relax?
Having sent the last message, Kira looked at Ava, waiting for any kind of response. The vampire read the messages, her jaw set tense as she finally looked up to meet the Detective's gaze, her icy green eyes set on Kira's in a wordless consent, challenging her.
That was all the encouragement Kira needed.
She returned her attention to her phone after smirking at the vampire in triumph.
Kira Langford [1:22PM]: Well, for starters, I’d get you out of that shirt
Kira Langford [1:22PM]: I’d tell you to lay on your stomach while I’d straddle your hips
Kira Langford [1:22PM]: Then I’d trace my fingers over the muscles of your back
Kira Langford [1:23PM]: Lightly, just so
Her typing was suddenly interrupted by Farah, who Kira only just realized was talking to her about something for a while now. The vampire propped herself up on her elbows, craning her neck to, unsuccessfully, try to catch a glimpse of the detective’s phone as Kira locked it quickly.
“Who you texting?” The question sounded almost accusatory as a small pout graced Farah’s lips.
“Tina,” she lied without a pause.
A loud scoff could be heard from the corner Morgan was sitting in. Kira looked to the side to meet the vampire’s eyes just to find Morgan already looking at her, a knowing smirk on her face. Kira lifted one brow in mock innocence before returning her focus back to her phone.
Kira Langford [1:25PM]: Maybe I’d let my fingernails drag slowly over your skin, from the base of your neck 'til the small of your back
Kira Langford [1:25PM]: It would be so easy to lean forward and lay a small kiss at the back of your neck
Kira Langford [1:26PM]: Or I could just nip at the side of your neck instead, leaving kisses all the way to your shoulder
Before she managed to continue, she heard a rustling sound in front of her, followed by a creek made by the armchair Ava was sat on. She looked up just in time to see the vampire stride over to the window, her shoulders tense and her hands balling into fists as she glared through the glass.
It took all of Kira's strength to stop the self-satisfied smile from appearing on her face.
She didn't have much time to enjoy her victory, though, as the door opened with a click and Agent Langford stepped into the room. Her eyes scanned the room quickly as if checking the attendance, before shrugging off her jacket and hanging it on the coat rack next to the entrance.
“I’m sorry for the delay. We can start now,” she declared as she strode over to the armchair Ava had abandoned just a few moments ago.
 ---
The door shut behind Kira with a click.
She was just reaching towards the light switch when she felt the heat of Ava's body greet her as the other woman pressed her into the door. Her hand dropped to her side limply as Ava's arms pressed into the door on both sides of her head, trapping Kira in between.
The detective looked up at just to find Ava's gaze trained on her own, her eyes hooded and dangerously dark.
"Just what exactly were you trying to accomplish earlier?" Ava almost demanded.
Kira swallowed hard, overwhelmed with Ava's sudden proximity and the intense look the vampire was giving her.
"I think you know very well since you're doing just what I expected you to," said Kira, her lips twisting into a smirk.
Ava narrowed her eyes in response, her gaze moving down Kira's body, appraising her, before returning to her eyes. Slowly, she inched forward, her lips close to Kira's face, not close enough to touch but just enough for the Detective to feel the warmth of her breath on her skin. The tip of her nose grazed Kira's jaw as the vampire's face stopped right before her ear.
"Will you still be so bold after I'm done with you, I wonder," she whispered, her breath against the shell of Kira's ear sending a shiver of anticipation through Kira's body as heat blossomed in her lower abdomen.
Instead of feeling Ava's lips on her neck, as Kira had expected, she felt cool air hit her skin as the vampire pulled away. She couldn't mask the surprise as her eyes met Ava's. The vampire's only response was the hint of a smirk in the corner of her mouth as she stared the other woman down with her piercing gaze.
"Get on the bed," she ordered.
Kira lifted one eyebrow as she tried to squash her budding excitement. Not having to be told twice, she took a step forward and around Ava, not breaking eye contact as she walked backwards and sat on the edge of the bed. She scooted backwards until she was settled on the middle of the bed, leaning back on her arms, her feet dangling off the edge, as she patiently waited for the vampire's next move.
Ava moved towards the bed, resting one of her knees in between Kira's legs — not yet touching but close enough for Kira to feel the warmth seeping through the fabric of their clothes. The vampire looked down on the woman, her chin held high as eyes travelled over Kira's form hungrily.
"Take off your shirt."
For just a moment, Kira considered not heeding the vampire's command, but the look in her eyes made her abandon that thought. Slowly, she reached to the hem of her shit and took it off, throwing it to the side without looking.
Seemingly pleased with Kira's compliance and the sight in front of her, Ava leaned forward to cover the detective's body with hers, leaving a few inches of empty space between them as she supported her weight on her arms resting on the sides of Kira's head. She brought her face closer to Kira's neck, her breath ghosting over her skin, as her face moved lower and lower. She reached behind Kira's back with one of her hands to unclasp her bra and take it off.
As she reached the human's sternum, still avoiding touch, she heard Kira stifle a whine as she arched her body up, trying to make contact. In a swift motion, the vampire grabbed Kira's wrist and secured them over her head with one arm, as her other hand took a hold of her hip to stop her from moving.
Ava pulled back to look the detective in the eye.
"Patience."
She returned her ministrations to the Detective's neck as the hand holding her hip slid towards the button of Kira's pants, opening it and sliding the zipper open. Ava slipped her hand into Kira's pants, sliding her palm over her core, feeling the heat radiate through the fabric of her panties. The human buckled her hips up, looking for friction as she sucked a breath in through her teeth.
"Please," Kira begged on a heavy breath.
"And why would I oblige you?"
Kira's only response was a low whine as Ava put more pressure onto her sex.
"Oh, but you beg so sweetly."
She gave in and slid her hand into Kira's underwear, her fingers meeting the hot wetness of the other woman's arousal. Ava moved her fingers in circles, covering them with Kira's moisture and avoiding the spot Kira wanted her to touch the most, as she saw Kira's head tilt back and press further into the mattress as her eyes fluttered shut. Finally, she decided to take mercy on the woman and slid her fingers upwards to the bundle of nerves Kira so desperately wanted her to touch. She moved her fingers in slow circles, varying in pressure as she observed Kira's face intently, watching her unravel before her. Ava would never bore of seeing Kira like this, knowing it's her who gets the privilege of bringing the detective to such a state. It wasn't just lust, either. What Ava felt for Kira was much deeper and meaningful and it only made her chest feel tighter with emotion.
Kira's strained breaths were beginning to sound more frequently, making Ava quicken the pace of her fingers and applying more pressure as Kira's muscles began growing taut under her ministrations. With a final press of her fingers, she saw the detective's body tense, her back arching off the bed as her mouth opened in a silent cry. Ava kept her hand firmly in place, letting Kira ride the last moments of her climax, before withdrawing it and letting go of the detective's wrists as she finally opened her eyes, her gaze dark and wanting.
The detective reached up, grabbing the back of Ava's head before pulling her in for a hungry kiss.
Their mouths busy, they began peeling the remaining clothing off each other in haste. Ava pulled Kira’s jeans down her hips as Kira tugged at the hem of the vampire’s shirt, pulling it up and over her head. It wasn’t long before all their clothes lay discarded on the floor as sighs and moans filled the otherwise quiet room.

#1 “Kings of Leon” HS
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: First Harry Styles imagine! Hope you like it! Request are open!
--
He leans against the frame of the entrance of the living room. He was locked away in the office for a few hours, trying to write something down in his journal for the day. It was until he heard the faint sound of music playing that he decided to leave the room and investigate the source of the ruckus.
It was her. The music sounds too familiar to him as he walks down the hallway. Kings of Leon play loudly throughout the entire house. He had discovered that it was her favorite band after the first few dates. That day after lunch, they had decided to go for a walk. They ran into a small music store where Y/N bought a Kings of Leon vinyl. She then proceeded to invite Harry to her small apartment for some coffee and to listen to the record together.
Her appearance captivates him. She dances around the living room without a single care in the world. She only wears a simple t-shirt over her bikini. Her hair is down and still wet from her previous dip in the ocean. She is attempting to air-dry it. She also holds tightly to a tall glass of Pina colada and tries her best not to spill it on the hardwood floor of the house, but she is still not holding anything back. He can see the small bruise forming on the side of her thigh. Last night Y/N had turned off the lights before getting in bed and had walked into the corner of their bed. Harry had to turn the lights back on with the switch beside the bed to go tend her.
It is only their second day in the Caribbean, but they have both already managed to burn. Jamaica will always hold a very special place in Harry’s heart. He has enjoyed showing Y/N the best places to eat and loved her reaction after they had gone snorkeling.  After being in Japan for so long, he had only desired to spend sometime under the sun and away from the real world especially with her. It also didn’t take much convincing to get Y/N on the plane.
In one of her twirls her eyes land on Harry, who is only staring at her while enjoying the view of her careless self.
“What are you doing?” She breathlessly asks as she stops moving while Pyro plays in the background. It was one of her favorites songs. Y/N pushes her hair away from her face, her cheeks are blushed which only entices him to approach and kiss each of them.
“Just heard the music” He honestly just wants her to go back to dancing. He relishes watching her when she isn’t looking. It is mesmerizing for him. He had even sneaked into her office once for a  few hours before lunch just to watch her work. He would just tell her that he needed to finish some lyrics for a song and pretend to write in his journal. He loves seeing how she knits her eyebrows when she reads over her emails or how she fiddles with her pen as she tries to remember what she was about to write on a post-it.
“I am sorry if I interrupted you” She kinda feels bad and flustered. She knows how important writing time it’s for him. It wasn’t her intention to disturb him in his sacred time. It is his alone time and it helps him to put all his thoughts in one place whether they are bad or good. While Harry walks over to the small bar and pours himself a glass of whiskey, she turns down the music with her phone. When he chooses his drink, he heads back and sits on his usual seat. She just stands around.
“No need to apologize, kitten” Y/N has the habit of apologizing for things that aren’t her actual fault especially when she is around him. She is just terrified to piss him off and for him to send her off. After all, there is nothing binding them together. They have no commitment to one another. They weren’t even formally dating per se. Even though Harry whispers that she is his every time he makes love to her.
“Did you get to write anything tho?” She pulls on the back of her shirt, trying to cover some skin. He knows how nervous he makes her feel and he can only blame himself for it. They had met in a time when Harry was fragile due to his past relationship. It was a few weeks before his departure to Japan. He had already bought the tickets and his team had already organized everything for him. In the following weeks, they had multiple dates. She invited him to her hot yoga and spinning classes in the morning. They would usually go out for breakfast or lunch after. He grew accustomed to having her around. He asked her to accompany him to Japan three days before his departure.
“This is something you need to do on your own,” She said that day to him while she held him tightly. That was the day, Harry knew that she was so different from all the girls that he had even gone out with him. It wasn’t only because she wasn’t a model and she was just like any other person, but because she truly cared for his mental health. “You need to recover and I think this will do you good” Y/N said a few hours before his departure. He had stopped at her apartment before leaving. He wanted to tell her how much he liked her and to wait for him.
It wasn’t easy for Y/N. After all, he was leaving the country to write about his ex, who he was still in love with. She took a step back after his departure and let him do his own things. If it was meant to be, it would happen without her having anything to do with it. It certainly was because the first place that Harry went to when he arrived was her apartment.
“I did” He smiles as he reached out for her hand. It had been mostly about her and their long passionates nights on the island. “Are you hiding from me?” Harry asks as he pulls her on his lap. She nervously shakes her head as she settles each of legs on either side of him. “How was the water?” He runs his fingers over her skin noticing the little specks of salt on her brand new tan skin. Harry had stayed in for their usual sunset dip. He had fallen asleep after making love to her and devouring a giant bowl of fruit with her in bed.
“Warm and kinda lonely” She pouts, wrapping her free hand around his neck then leans over and places her drink on a table.
“We can’t have that can’t we?” Y/N smiles and shakes her head at him as she gently pulls on the curls at the back of his head. The skin of his cheekbones is slightly burned making him more irresistible. She had tried to apply sunscreen on his face, but he kept making faces. It only distracted her and she ended just laughing at him “I guess I won’t ever leave yeh again” Harry leans in and kisses her jawline gently. He can still smell the faint aroma of her carrot tanning lotion on her skin.
She enjoys the coolness of his rings pressed against her bare lower back. She runs her hands on his chest noticing the soft material of the shirt that he has on. The living room slide doors are opened allowing the sound of the waves crashing soothe them along with the faint sound of her favorite band.
“I need to tell yeh something” he mumbles against her the salty skin of her neck. She immediately tenses up and goes cold. A million thoughts run through her head. Harry pulls away wanting to see her reaction. He takes a sip out of his drink and leans back on his seat. He still grips her hip in place wanting to keep some kind of content with her.
“What is it?” She gulps, silently playing that he wasn’t dumping her or sending her away.
“I first have to confess something. I told you I liked you before I left for Japan, do yeh remember?” Y/N nods along too scared to say something. She also feels like she was about to be sick. It might have to do something about the amount of rum that it’s running through her veins. “I was actually not sure if I did. I was hesitant. We had just met and I was leaving for a long time. I didn’t want to lose you. I lied”
“Why are you tell me all of this now?” She frowns not comprehending where he is going with this or what he is trying to tell her.
“For us to have a healthy relationship. I have to be honest with yeh from starters. We can’t build a relationship based on lies” He explains hoping she would get what he is trying to say and catch up.
“In that case, I actually didn’t lose your sweater” she confesses, “It's actually in my closet at home. It just reminds me of you” Harry laughs lightly showing her his pearly whites.
“I know babe” A few days ago he had seen it in her closet. “I think that you are absolutely beautiful inside out. I love how much you worry about little things, how you sing in the shower, how much you take care of your plants and even how your lips still taste like pineapple when I kiss them” he jokes at the end. He tries to keep it short even though there are still a million things he can mention about her.  “I guess I am trying t’ say is that you are worth having my heart broken a thousand times more if that means that I get to be around yeh” He watches as a wide smile appears across her face. She presses her lips against his.
“Would you be my girlfriend?” She doesn’t say much but just repeatedly pecks her lips. Y/N was starting to grow impatient. She was starting to believe that their relationship would never move forward and she would remain to be just a friend who he occasionally has sex with until he found a girlfriend.
“Is that a yes?”
“Yes, silly” she giggles then proceeds to peck the tip of his nose. “I thought you were going to send me home for a minute” Y/N admits as she presses a hand against her chest.
“No. You’re stuck with me now”  He is so infatuated with her that it wouldn’t surprise him if he tells her he loves her before the trip ends, but that is another story.

Intrusion
Tumblr media
– 3: level 5 of friendship (wc: 1.8k)
prev ; next ; m.list
a/n: a filler-ish type of character. according to my ao3 a/n i kinda felt out of this chapter by the time i sat down to write so yea,,, + the text copy pasted from ao3 again so bolds and italics may be gone.
>[Hey I’ll go to the café a little earlier and sit around for a while. I’ll send you the address and you can meet me there.]
>[btw they don’t only serve pastry so if u r hungry after practice, you can eat there.]
>[k bye see ya]
You were up hours before you received a message from Iwaizumi. A simple “Good Morning.” blinking at you from the corner of your eye. Sending a short reply, you went back to your book. The house completely silent, save for your creaking footsteps; your parents have already left, typical as always.
It was odd for you to be up before your alarm. You brush the possibilities off, trying not think too much about it. The air feels nice and the chirping of birds isn’t exactly distracting, I might as well do some reading. That is how you decided to begin your day, pushing all your thoughts aside and entering a brand new world.
The heavy silence starting to weight on you after a while, you change your clothes, send these texts to Iwaizumi and head out.
Finding a good spot to sit by the window side, in case Iwaizumi cannot find the place, you order a drink as you pick your book up where you left off. You must’ve dozed off because you don’t realize him until he sits down.
“Hey.”
“Oh, hi. Glad you could make it.” It’s weird to see him without the school uniform now. The tshirt looks like he changed into it after practice. The jacket hanging from his seat and the bag by his side, both carrying the trademark colors for Aoba Johsai sports clubs indicating your assumption further. His face seems redder than usual, he must’ve left a short while ago.
You stare at one another for a moment. “So, how was practice?”
“As usual. We tried switching positions and had some 2-against-2 matches a little.”
“Ah, that… sounds good? I think. No, maybe a bit intense too? I’m not sure.” Shaking your head as you speak, you can hear him chuckle, probably at you.
“How about your morning?”
“As usual.”
“So you do wake up before noon on weekends, huh.” You can’t help but smile at that.
“Except for that part, then.” You look up to find him smiling at you warmly. This only makes your smile bigger.
One of the staff approaches your table and drops a single menu between the two of you. When will cafes stop assuming two people of the opposite sex as a couple and bring only one menu?..
Iwaizumi makes a gesture, signaling you to take a look and choose first.
“You go ahead, I have some inside information on their products.” You say with a smile as if you really are sharing a top secret. What’s up with the never ending smiles today? It couldn’t possibly be because of meeting with him, right? No way. And yet, the smiles appear before your face all natural, feeling familiar; so you let it keep happening. Change once in a while never killed anybody.
Eyes wandering around, examining each furniture, each plant, the expressions people wear; trying to distinct the source of each smell, guessing what it is, you wait for Iwaizumi to choose. The air is calm, no one is too loud and you can hear relaxing songs playing through the speakers. I hope the harmony of this place isn’t disturbed during the rush hours, you can’t help but think.
Getting tired of the pastel ambiance after a while, you divert your gaze back to Iwaizumi. Only to see a frustrated face staring at the menu he’s holding. He almost looks like it insulted him or better yet, attacked him. Your hand reaches to it before you can realize. You lower the menu a little.
“Need help?” He almost looks embarrassed to nod does it any way.
“Yeah, I’m torn between Americano and filter coffee… But what exactly is the difference between the two?” The excitement inside you hard to conceal, your hands jump into the air, digits spread wide.
“Oh, oh! I know this!” The look Iwaizumi gives you makes you stop. He seems… at ease. He has one of these small smiles you’ve witnessed before. There’s also a hint of something in his eyes, a gleam is there sure and a little bit of playfulness, but also something else you can’t put your finger on. Whatever it is, it suits him and you’d like to see him like this more often. You shake your head at your last thought.
“No, don’t give me that look. I only know about types of coffee because one of my friends is a caffeine addict.” And so you start to talk about different types of coffee, milk and espresso ratios, all in detail.
Five minutes into speedtalking about coffee and you give up at the look of defeat you are met with. “Just order Americano, you seem the type any way.”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” You ignore the question.
A minute of waiting and awkward stare passes, then another minute of ordering is added to the pile. Iwaizumi, following your advice and ordering Americano, you asking for chai latte and the ‘cake of the day’. You two fall back into silence.
No conversation starters coming into mind, your eyes keep wandering around. Stealing glances at him once in a while, only for the both of you to make eye contact and immediately diverting your gazes, the unsettling silence starts to take its toll.
“I… I need to use the restroom.” You dash out before he can say anything, hoping the door you saw earlier does lead to the restroom. Splashing water to your face to calm your nerves, why would my nerves even be not calm in the first place??, you slowly head out and pray to whatever force out there that your orders have arrived.
You’re either lucky or you’ve used up your daily dose of luck because your prayers seem to be answered. The steam coming from your beverages is numbing and the cake looks heavenly to you. Light cream between the layers and on top, surrounded with fresh fruits and some jam spilled over the plate to make a twirling shape for a good presentation…
There are two sets of cutlery.
Because bringing a single menu was not enough and they just had to bring two sets of cutlery, still assuming you’re a couple. Not to worry, it’s not worth losing your cool over. You take a deep breath and sit as you breathe down, a not so genuine smile plastered on your face.
“So, how is the coffee?”
“Good. I suppose you were right about ‘my type’” he does air quotes as he speaks. Another smile breaks free of your mask.
“If it’s any consolation, I usually prefer coffee without sweeteners, so it is a little my type too.” A knowing nod at that.
“And the cake?..”
“Well, it looks good. You can try if you want, they did bring another fork anyway.” He doesn’t too eager at that. Cutting a part of the cake and putting it to one side of the plate, you shrug and start eating.
An easy flow of conversation comes after.
It starts with something that catches your eye in the street, starting to look through the window and creating fun little scenarios, the air around you gets warmer.
Excitingly pointing at a cat passing by, Iwaizumi learns how fond of cats you are, even so that you have one at home.
Inspecting the trees nearby and trying to guess what species, you find out he has an eye for it. He knows most of the trees and flowers out there.
He asks you your favorite genre to play on piano and in return you ask him his preferred sports drink. It goes like this. Beverages already drunk, cake long eaten, you two get lost in small things and what-nots.
The sun at the top, shining through and drowning the world under its golden light, everything seems to be at peace. Not a single customer around talking too loud, or maybe they do but you’re too out of it to notice… The temperature just right, your thoughts at bay, all harmless. Almost as if it’s a regular weekend day-out, the way it feels so familiar.
Feeling relaxed and loosened up, ready to doze off to sleep at any given moment, you slowly find yourself getting lost in pale green eyes, and vice versa.
Whatever unseen force that was holding the entire place, including you, in a calm trance, falls apart at the sudden sound of an unwelcome beep.
Both of you reaching out to your phones, you see a notification alert
Staring at your screen for a while, a sincere smile blooms on your face, giddy with excitement and happy, you feel unstoppable at that very moment.
“Good news I hope. Care to share?” Iwaizumi’s words reach your ears a few seconds too late. Still holding your phone with both hands grinning like an idiot now, you shake your head a little.
“You need to reach level 5 of friendship with me to access this story, sorry.” You can see him laughing lightly at the back of his hand.
“What’s so funny?”
“Oh nothing. It’s just… I expected at least a level 10.” It’s your turn to laugh now, and so it seems.
“You’ve listened to me playing the piano. That gives you a 5 level headstart already.”
“You’re really that secretive about that?” All that joy from a moment ago has died down and replaced with confusion. You avoid his eyes and focus on a spot near him again, just like the first time.
“Secretive is not the best choice of words. More like… insecure? I guess, I’m not sure.”
“Well, that’s just dumb.”
“I- What? Excuse me?!”
“I’ve said what I said. You already play well and only a fool wouldn’t notice the way you give your all as you play. There is no logical reason for you to be insecure about that.”
“Yes but- you see…” Words die out at your throat, hand hanging in the air.
Another thing you learn about Iwaizumi Hajime right then and there. He is honest and as harsh as truth can be.
You wonder if he is like that all the time, if he is as open when it comes to himself. Or does he hide behind a façade like the rest of the world.
Noticing how tense you are getting, Iwaizumi ends your misery at last, asking about the book you were reading and you two fall back into another quiet chatter of everything and nothing until you  call it a day.

“I don’t care what Lucas says, Han shot first.”
Natsu emphasized his point with his sewing needle, shooing away Happy when he tried to bat at the thread.
“I’m not disagreeing with you,” Sting insisted from the other end of the video call. “I’m just saying that he did kind of invent Star Wars.”
Natsu rolled his eyes at his cousin as he nudged Happy away from the laptop. “Yeah, and he suggested Darth Icky as a Sith name to the game devs for ‘The Force Unleashed’, so it’s probably time for him to just, y’know, not be involved anymore.”
Sting snorted, shaking his head as he tied off a knot on the back of his embroidery and flipped it over to study the design. He sighed, holding it up to the camera so Natsu could see the uneven stitches.
“I don’t think I’m ever gonna get this,” Sting complained. “Yours looks so much better.”
“I’ve also been doing it for years,” Natsu pointed out. He was about to say something else when the front door slammed open, bringing with it a red-faced Gray who looked like he was on the verge of tears. He kicked off his shoes, tossing his mask into the laundry basket at the door and throwing his bag on the floor.
“Hey, love,” Natsu said, waving his hand to get Gray’s attention. Gray shook his head, refusing to look at Natsu and storming into the kitchen. Natsu frowned. Gray had been in a good mood when he’d left that morning, and he’d texted Natsu only an hour ago – on my way home, gonna pick up coffee, love you <3
“Everything okay?” Sting asked.
“No, I gotta go,” Natsu said, setting his embroidery down and giving Sting a concerned look. “I’ll text you later, ‘kay?”
Sting nodded. “Hope everything’s okay. Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
Natsu nudged Happy off his lap, then headed to the kitchen, where Gray was aggressively washing his hands. Eventually he turned off the water but stayed where he was, head down and fingers gripping the edge of the sink.
“Gray?”
He didn’t answer, so Natsu reached around the corner and flicked the lights a couple times. Gray sighed, grabbing the towel and finally turning around to face Natsu.
What’s wrong? Natsu signed. Gray’s cheeks were still flushed, and he refused to meet Natsu’s gaze.
I can’t fucking understand anyone, he signed eventually, looking like he was going to cry. Natsu frowned and Gray added, With masks on. I can’t read anyone’s lips and I feel so stupid.
Natsu’s heart ached at the defeated look on Gray’s face. He stepped forward and reached out for Gray’s hand, which was balled into a tight fist. It took a few seconds, but eventually Gray sighed, letting Natsu slip their fingers together.
“I just wanted a coffee,” he said out loud. His voice was tight and on the edge of tears. “The barista kept asking me something and I couldn’t hear her, there was too much background noise. It’s all just… sound. I didn’t understand. She had to write it down and people were staring, and I felt like an idiot, so I just left.”
Natsu ran his fingers over Gray’s, bringing his hand to his lips and kissing it.
“It’s so frustrating,” Gray said quietly. “Everyone thought I was stupid.”
“I’m sure nobody thought—”
“They did.” Gray’s jaw tensed. “The guy behind me thought I couldn’t hear at all, but he was so fucking loud. I heard him laughing, telling his friend I was…” Gray’s voice broke and he quickly rubbed at his face with the back of his hand.
“C’mere, sweetheart,” Natsu said gently, pulling Gray close and wrapping both arms around his shoulders. Gray leaned into the embrace and pressed his forehead to Natsu’s shoulder.
“He said I was retarded.”
Natsu froze at the words that were muffled by his shirt. “What?” he tried to pull back to look at Gray again, but Gray wrapped his arms around Natsu’s waist and kept him close. He was trying his best to hold it in, but he was definitely crying now.
Natsu held Gray tighter, protective anger filling his chest as he ran his hand up and down Gray’s back. “I’m so sorry,” he said against Gray’s ear. “I can’t believe he said that to you, that’s horrible.”
Gray didn’t say anything. Natsu could see him biting his lip to keep back the tears and the soft sounds that came with them. He sighed, holding Gray as close as possible and pressing his cheek to the top of Gray’s head.
“I love you,” he murmured as he ran his fingers through Gray’s hair. They stood like that for a while, and eventually Gray’s shoulders stopped shaking. He sniffed and wiped his eyes with his sleeve.
“Hey,” Natsu said gently, pulling back and making sure Gray could see his lips. “You know what he said isn’t true, right?”
“I…” Gray swallowed and looked back down at the floor. “It’s just so frustrating. I get so embarrassed and I feel so stupid.”
Natsu shook his head, nudging Gray’s arm and switching to sign.
First of all, that guy is an idiot and a terrible human being, and if I ever see him, I’m gonna punch him in the face. Secondly, you’re not stupid. You’re one of the smartest people I know. You know four languages, you can build computers from scratch, and you can code faster than humanly possible. You know every single piece of lore from World of Warcraft – which is ridiculous, by the way, but adorable.
Gray’s lip quirked up in a tiny smile.
There’s nothing wrong with you, Natsu continued. No matter what. Doesn’t matter if you want to wear your hearing aids or not, if you want to talk or sign, or if you need extra time understanding people.
Gray sighed and ran his hands through his hair. “I know. It just sucks.” He exhaled loudly, then looked up at Natsu. “I’m sor—”
“Don’t you dare apologize.”
“But—”
“Look, I know we’re Canadian, but apologizing for someone else being an ass and calling you a slur isn’t allowed.”
Gray laughed and the sound relieved the anger and frustration in Natsu’s chest. He studied Gray’s face for a moment – the deep blue of his eyes, the tiny scar on his forehead, the barely noticeable dimple on his left cheek.
“What?” Gray frowned at him.
“You’re pretty,” Natsu said simply, leaning in and kissing Gray’s nose as a pink flush spread across his cheeks. “And I love you.” Before Gray could attempt to deflect the compliment, Natsu added, “Do you still wanna get a coffee?”
Gray’s expression shifted into something uncertain. “I can just make it here.” He gestured to their coffee machine, but Natsu shook his head.
“That’s not what I asked. Do you want to go out and get coffee?” Gray gave Natsu a suspicious look and he laughed. “I have an idea,” he said, gesturing to the door. “C’mon, let’s go for a drive.”
~
Natsu made Gray drive. He gave directions that lead away from the house, across the freeway, and into the neighboring suburb. The roads were unfamiliar but Natsu navigated them from his phone, clearly looking for something specific.
“Where are we going?” Gray asked again. He glanced over at Natsu, who just grinned at him and pointed out the window. A Starbucks sat in the middle of the shopping complex on the right side of the road.
“Do the drive through.”
“There’s tons of Starbucks back in New West,” Gray said, frowning as he flicked on the signal and pulled into the parking lot. “Why’d we come all the way out here?”
Natsu didn’t answer, just gestured to the menu screen as Gray pulled up to it. He looked at Natsu, ready for him to interpret whatever the barista said, but was surprised when the screen lit up instead. Someone with long, dark hair appeared on the screen, dressed in a green apron and giving them a warm smile.
Welcome to Starbucks, how are you doing today?
Gray’s eyes widened as he watched them sign, and it took him a moment to realize that they could see him.
Good, he replied quickly, hoping he didn’t look too confused. Um. You?
I’m great! What would you like to order?
Gray stared blankly at the menu for a second, then remembered he always got the same thing. Doubleshot on ice, please? he replied. Grande? Natsu poked him and he batted his hand away. And a Java Chip Frappuccino.
Awesome, see you at the window! The barista smiled and waved at him before the video switched off and the screen returned to normal.
Gray managed to hold in his tears until they had their drinks and were parked in the lot. He quickly wiped at his eyes with his sleeve, trying to hide his face from Natsu.
“That was Rogue,” Natsu said gently, reaching over and pulling Gray’s hands away from his face. “Sting’s new partner.”
Gray swallowed, trying to push down the lump that blocked his throat. “They can… they know sign.”
“Yeah.” Natsu brushed Gray’s hair out of his face and tucked it behind his ear. “Sting was telling me about them earlier – their little sister is Deaf so they’re pretty close to fluent in ASL.”
“Oh.” Gray stared down at Natsu’s hand in his, trying to figure out how to explain the complicated sensation in his chest. The frustration and embarrassment from earlier were gone, replaced with a deep sense of relief.
Natsu nudged Gray as he let go of his hand, and Gray looked over at him.
You’re not stupid, Natsu signed, balancing his drink on his lap. You’re smart and funny and gorgeous, and I love you so, so much.
Gray stared him – wild hair and bright eyes and the wide smile that Gray had fallen in love with so many years ago. “How do you do that?” Gray asked softly. Natsu raised an eyebrow. “You always know how to make things better.”
“Making you happy is my superpower,” Natsu said, grinning as he took a sip of his drink. “Now, y’know what you can do with lips besides read them?”
Gray raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“Kiss them.”
“You’re such a dork,” Gray said, shaking his head and laughing.
“You love me, though.”
“I do.”
Gray leaned over the console and pulled Natsu in for a long, slow kiss. Natsu’s hand brushed through his hair and he leaned into the touch – into the way that Natsu always felt like home.
“Mm.” Natsu hummed happily as he pulled back and pressed their foreheads together. “See, this is why I make you feel better – I get kisses when you’re happy.”
“So you’re not just being altruistic?”
“Not entirely. I may or may not have ulterior motives.”
“And do those ulterior motives happen to involve clothing?”
“That’s entirely up to you.”
Gray laughed and brushed his nose against Natsu’s, then pulled him in for another kiss. He tugged lightly on Natsu’s hair, biting gently on his lower lip and tasting chocolate on his tongue. Then he pulled back and smiled, setting his coffee in the cup holder and putting the car into drive.
“Let’s go home and find out.”

Meeting McDreamy
Tumblr media
Doctor!Jin x Reader
Word count: 2.5k

Storyline: Doctor AU, where Jin is your gynecologist. You meet him for the first time that day, and are utterly shocked and embarrassed. Annoying but endearing flatmate Jungkook, and fluffy ending!
...........................
You sat in the waiting room of the clinic, biting your nails as you impatiently waited for your name to be called. Your eyes were fixated on the clock on the wall opposite you, counting every second that passed. Truth be told, you didn’t want to be there, and you thought your reluctance was perfectly reasonable. After all, no person enjoys a visit with their OBGYN. There’s something particularly embarrassing about another person grilling you for information on your sex life, and your genitals, before they sit you on that dreaded table. You always feel so vulnerable when your legs are propped up on those damned stirrups, with your privates displayed for anyone to see. There is nothing dignified about that position.
You swing your legs a little, as your eyes still stare at the hands of that damned clock clock on the wall, hoping somehow that you can fast-forward time until after your appointment. Anything to bypass the awkwardness. And you know, you know that the doctor will have seen plenty of other “bits” in their career, hell, they have probably had at least 10 other patients that day alone, but you still feel embarrassed.
“Miss Y/N L/N,” The nurse calls you over, with a warm smile. You notice something about her eyes that makes you hesitate, but you stand up and walk over nonetheless.
“Yes?” You ask, feeling that nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach. You have to fight the urge to bit your nails again.
“Ah… Dr. Oh has had to leave due to a family emergency just now, we have another doctor on call if you would like to switch?” She explained hesitantly.
“Yeah, sure” anything to get out of there as quickly as possible.
She smiled with relief, and walked you down the hall, to a door with a plaque on the front that read “Dr. Kim”. You knocked, and let yourself in.
And then it all made sense to you. You suddenly wanted the ground to open up and swallow you whole. You wanted to cover yourself from head to toe with a blanket, and cocoon forever. You would never ever be able to forget this appointment.
“Ah, Miss L/N, nice to meet you, I’m Dr. Kim Seokjin and I will be your physician today” Said the most handsome man you had ever seen. Not even in your dreams could you have conjured a face as beautiful as his. He looked like he belonged on a medical drama, not in your very real doctor’s office. He looked handsome, beautiful, ethereal, god-like, dreamy. McDreamy…. Where had you heard that before? You were probably infringing some form of copyright.
“H-hi” You croaked out. You could feel yourself begin to sweat. Why. WHY?!
“If it’s okay with you, I will close this curtain so you can remove your jeans and underwear, and when you are done sit on this bed. If you can do it on your own, put your legs on the stirrups and scoot down as far as you can go without falling off the bed!” He explained, chuckling at his own joke. You laughed along nervously, your voice shaky and your heart thumping in your chest.
He closed the curtain around the bed, and left you to your own devices. You wanted to scream. Why Dr. Oh? WHY?!
You quickly removed the clothes on the lower half of your body and thanked the heavens that you had kept your legs and your privates reasonably well groomed. You sat on the bed, and did as Dr. McDreamy told you, before grabbing a modesty blanket that you quickly covered yourself with. Ah, Grey’s Anatomy! Well, Derek Shepherd has nothing on Seokjin. Oh boy, how your heart raced at the thought of your doctor’s perfect features.
“I-I’m done here sir!” You called out, voice shaking. You readied yourself, hands clenching around the modesty blanket. Your eyes focused on your hands, because you knew that if you took one look at that beautiful face, you would blush so red you might faint.
“Okay!” He called out, his warm, soothing voice doing everything but put you at ease. Even his voice was beautiful.
He quickly moved the curtain aside so he could enter, and closed it again before walking towards your spread legs. He sat on a small stool, and began examining you with gloved hands. You felt yourself tense. His hands on you were doing things to you that were verging on sinful. You prayed he didn’t notice.
“Are you over 25 Y/N?” He asked, you squeaked out a weak ‘yes’
“Have you had a pap smear done yet?” He asked, looking up towards your face. Your eyes flickered towards his briefly, and you immediately looked away. You shook your head vigorously.
“Is it okay if we do one today? It’s recommended to start getting them done regularly after the age of 25.” He told you, and you froze. Your eyes opened wide, like a deer caught in the headlights.
“It doesn’t hurt, it’s a little uncomfortable I have been told, but it shouldn’t be painful” He explained quickly, looking a bit flustered by your reaction. You sighed.
“Okay…” You nodded your head firmly. He nodded back, and moved away to gather the tools.
He showed you all of the tools and explained what they were and what they would be used for. He then talked you through the whole procedure, and explained each step as he was taking it, cracking terrible dad jokes in between. All in all, you ended up feeling relatively relaxed. As relaxed as a woman who was a mad crush on her gynecologist who she just met can ever be anyway.
“Well, I think that should be it. I’m going to go over and log your file and let you get dressed” He explained, as he pushed the cart with the specimens aside. You quickly dressed yourself up again, and both hoped you would never see Dr Kim again, and also hoped he would fall madly in love with you somehow. Part of you wanted to imagine he would ask you out on a date before you left the door. But you also knew he would get into huge trouble if he did. You sighed, maybe you were just never meant to be.
“The results should be out in 4 weeks, we will send you a letter, but it seemed okay visually. Other than that, you seem to be in good health. For your next visit you should be back with Dr. Oh, she is your regular doctor. It was a pleasure meeting you Miss L/N” He told you with a dazzling smile, that made your heart flutter and your stomach fill with the soft flutters of butterflies.
“It was lovely meeting you too, Doctor,” You spoke honestly, although your cheeks blushed a deep red. You bowed to him, and walked out of his office as elegantly as you could muster, which was not very elegantly at all.
You rushed back home, feeling utterly embarrassed, but also like you were floating on air. When you got back in, you slammed the door shut behind you and squealed into your hands.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Jungkook asked you from the sofa, where he was playing some shooting game you didn’t care to remember the name of.
“I had my appointment today, and… IT WAS A MALE DOCTOR!” You screamed, as you plopped down beside Jungkook on the sofa, and squeezed a pillow tightly in your arms.
“So? I thought you didn’t care about that stuff,” He asked, side-eyeing you, as he continued to play his game.
“I don’t but this guy was HOT! I am talking, mouth watering, earth shatteringly hot. Like a Greek God incarnate. He made my insides quiver. He made my legs shake just from looking at his face” You explained exasperatedly.
“Gross,” He replied, scrunching his nose.
“Oh come on, don’t be such a butt. I see you drool all over that poster of IU in your room” You tell your roommate, who turns to look at you wide eyed and utterly offended.
“For starters I do not DROOL! And secondly, it is gross that you have a crush on your vagina-doctor. He just looked at you all clinical down there” He complained, just as he died in the game. He tossed his controller aside, crossed his arms and turned to look at you with a huff.
“And that’s precisely why it’s so tragical. Maybe if I met him at a cafe like a normal human being, he would fall in love with me and we would ride off into the sunset and have absurdly perfect-looking children” You threw yourself over Jungkook’s legs dramatically.
“You’re such a weirdo” He pushed you off him, rolling his eyes.
“But you loooveee me” You teased, poking him in the chest. He smiled at this.
“I have no choice, you have been glued to my side since preschool, you eventually kind of grew on me squirt” He retaliated, ruffling your hair.
-------------------------------------
About two weeks later, Jungkook and you met at a cafe outside his office for a quick, after-work snack. You noticed he was already waiting in line, and rushed over, nudging him with your shoulder.
“Ugh, you again” he teased, rolling his eyes. You stuck your tongue out at him.
“You should pity me, I have to deal with seeing your ugly face all the time” You bit back, smirking. He narrowed his eyes at you, puffing his cheek, as he pushed your shoulder lightly with his hand.
It should have been a light, harmless push. I mean, it didn’t even hurt. However, you lost your footing, slipped, and bumped into the person waiting in line in front of you.
“I’m so sorr-” Your words were cut off in your throat when you looked up, and your eyes met the beautiful brow eyes of none other than Kim Seokjin. He was smiling at you like he had just won a prize.
“Oh… Dr. Kim, I’m so sorry!” You apologised profusely, bowing your head.
“Ah! I’m not in the clinic, so I’m just Seokjin now,” He smiled, shrugging, and rubbing the back of his neck. His eyes quickly flickered towards Jungkook, and his expression stiffened ever so slightly. You immediately noticed. You might normally be a dumbass, but you are fantastic at reading body-language. You would have been a detective, had your lack of interest in keeping fit deterred you from even trying to join the police force.
“Ah, Doc- Seokjin, this is my flatmate Jungkook,” You introduced your friend, pointing towards him with your whole hand.
Jungkook’s lips immediately broke into a gigantic Cheshire grin, the wheels in his brain turning. He knew all about your appointment with Dr. McDreamy. You knew that look, and knew it meant nothing good.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Seokjin, I’ve heard a lot about you” His voice dripped with sugary sweetness. You gave him a warning glare, but Jungkook’s smile only widened.
“Ah, is that so?” Seokjin’s eyes flickered back to you, and he raised an eyebrow. You could see a slight cheeky smirk begin to form on Seokjin’s face.
“Oh, look it’s your turn Seokjin!” You immediately pointed towards the barista calling for the next customer. Perfect deflection technique, God Y/N, you would make a perfect Ninja.
“Oh shoot!” Jin called out, before shuffling over. You took the opportunity to pinch the life out of the inside of Jungkook’s bicep.
“Ah ahhhh what the fuck!” he hissed, as he swatted your hand away. You did a slicing motion on your neck with your index finger, then pointed straight at his face. He gulped slightly, remembering that time he tried to prank you, and you took revenge by putting hair removal cream in his shampoo.
Once Seokjin had finished ordering, you walked up to the barista, and ordered your and Jungkook’s drinks to go. You needed to get out of there stat. She rang them in, and you readied yourself to put your card in the card reader when a large hand stopped you.
“Ah, let me” Seokjin told you, his cheeks blushed pink, but the rest of his face remained impassive.
“Oh no, it’s okay, you don’t have to” You quickly tried to push your card in the machine. But his grip on your hand tightened.
“Please?” Seokjin begged, and you relented. His eyes lit up beautifully. You couldn’t help but smile. He looked like a child on Christmas day. Super cute doctor is trying to give you free coffee? Could you be any more pleased?
When your coffees were ready to go, Jungkook quickly picked his, and began walking towards the door.
“Ah, I forgot I left this thing at work. I have to go get it before they close. Thank you for the coffee Seokjin!” He called, before darting out the door and sending a cheeky wink your way.
“What the hell did he forget?” You muttered to yourself.
“I think it was a trick to leave us alone,” Jin explained, grinning over the edge of his coffee mug.
“W-what?” You stuttered.
“Ah, Y/N, I know this is probably awkward because I was your doctor for a day. But I am technically not YOUR doctor, so it’s not unethical, but I was kind of, maybe, wondering if you’d like to go out with me some time?” He asked, awkwardly, shyly, nothing like the man who had told you silly jokes during your appointment.
“You want to go out with me?” You asked dumbly. He nodded.
“Of course. You are beautiful, and silly, and I love it when you blush. I just wish I could see you blush from something I did, and not because the situation is awkward” He explained, making you blush a deep red. Yep, nothing more awkward than having a beautiful man with his head stuck between your legs, examining you instead of… you know.
“That’s what I’m talking about!” He laughed to himself. And suddenly you were able to hear it, a distinctive windshield wiper sound to his laugh. It was so comical it made you start laughing yourself.
“And are you sure you won’t get in trouble?” You asked him, and he nodded.
“As long as you aren’t my patient from here on, it should be fine” He explained.
“Well, I say we could start our first date now, no?” you cheekily replied, taking a sip from your coffee.
“Good! I know the best seat in this cafe” He told you, as he guided you towards a table by the window, where you could spot Jungkook waiting at the bus-stop, looking at you and giving you two thumbs up. You rolled your eyes, but returned the thumbs up. Oh boy, Jungkook was never going to let you forget he is the best wingman on Earth.

“You shouldn’t be excited for this.”
“You have a shoot with a hot billionaire, and I have the privilege of going along and meeting him?!” Nia squealed, nearly spilling her coffee onto the sidewalk.
“He’s going to end up being a pompous ass.” Naexi took a sip of her own coffee, savoring the bitterness of it and cradling it close to her body to ward away the cold. “They always are.”
“You’re too cynical. I mean listen to how he sounds in this interview!” From her bag, Nia whips out a recent copy of Forbes, flipping it open to a page marked with a pastel post-it note.
“You have his interview tabbed?” she asked, but Nia had already begun reading.
“‘I believe there is no secret to success. Everything needed for success is provided given you use the tools to your advantage. I would not have gotten as far as I have today without my drive to help those in need-’”
Naexi straightened her back and deepened her voice, mocking the billionaire. “However, my daddy’s money also definitely helped. ‘Tis unfortunate that no one is born with my trust fund, hm?” Nia let loose a few giggles and turned her attention to the next page, which featured Tyril standing in gray slacks and a black sweater, hands in his pockets in an effortlessly casual pose. He had long hair that was tied back, some front pieces falling over the frames of his glasses. Barely sparing a glance at the page, Naexi rolled her eyes. “You’re too obsessed with him.”
“Who isn’t?”
“Me.” They finally reached the small New York townhouse being used for the shoot. Letting Nia walk first through the doors, Naexi drank the rest of her coffee and tossed it into a bin outside the building before following her friend inside.
#
Tyril shifted in his fancy shoes, nervously taking his hands out of his pockets and putting them back in. It was early in the morning, around six, but he felt wide awake. He was always nervous for these sorts of things; getting his picture taken, people prying into his private life. Yet, he still had to put on an air of normalcy and professionalism. He couldn’t help but feel like he was in the way, since he arrived thirty minutes before he was supposed to.
“The photographer’s here, so we’re close to starting.” Tyril jumped as a makeup artist gently led him to a chair and began breaking out her tools.
“You ready, Ty?”
“Only if you stop calling me that, Immy.” Tyril locked eyes with Imtura, his security detail, in the mirror. She was scowling, but he knew there was no real malice behind it. “I’m...ready as I’ll ever be for these things.” He fished his phone out of his pocket and checked his emails for what seemed to be the hundredth time that morning. He was so engrossed that he didn’t hear the frantic whispers of two girls close by to the chair until Imtura spoke.
“Sorry, ladies, but who are you?”
“The photographer, and this is my assistant for the shoot.” A tall girl approached the chair and gestured to her friend, who was bright red and looking at Tyril with wide eyes. Putting on a polite smile, he gave a nod to Imtura and focused on them both.
“Hello.”
“Wow, it’s really you! I mean, of course it’s you, I just didn’t expect you to be so...real! Do you know what I mean?” The assistant rambled, looking expectantly at Tyril.
“I...can’t say I do. I apologize.” He glanced towards the photographer, who seemed to be studying him with a bored expression. She didn’t stop when he locked eyes with her, and he couldn’t help but feel slightly uncomfortable under her gaze. “It’s nice meeting you both.” He leaned forward slightly in his chair, hoping they understood his hint.
“Oh! I’m Nia, Nia Ellarious. This is Naexi Carsys.” The photographer gave a small wave before walking away to the large sheet of paper he was supposed to be photographed in front of. “She’s...mysterious,” Nia explained.
“It’s quite alright, you can say she doesn’t like me.” Tyril’s lips turned up ever so slightly, his eyes following Naexi’s form as she set up her camera and helped move the chair into the frame. She was pretty in an effortless way, as cliche as it sounds. Her eyebrows furrowed as she fiddled with her camera, mouth set in a tight line as she took a few trial shots and messed with the settings after each one. Nia silently watched how the gears in his head seemed to turn as he looked at her, akin to someone looking for a specific piece to a puzzle.
#
“For starters, just sit normally in the chair, to make sure the settings and lights are right for you,” Naexi instructed, looking through the viewfinder and humming at what she saw. Tyril sat stiffly, unsure of what to do with his hands or his face.
“Like this?” He placed his hands on his knees and offered a boring face to the camera.
“Yeah…” she replied, distracted by turning and pressing little knobs and buttons on her instrument. He found himself watching her fingers and a fleeting thought of how soft her hands looked was pushed out of his brain as quickly as it had come. “Okay, loosen up a little.” Tyril glanced down at his body in confusion.
“How so?” His shoulders were tense and his lips were pursed, the exact opposite of what she wanted from him.
“What do you mean, just…” She let the camera fall against her chest and made a show of holding her arm up and dropping it. “Loose.”
“I--” He peered at everyone watching him and then back at Naexi, who cocked her head and raised her eyebrows. Without a word, she pulled up another chair and sat next to him.
“I know you’ve done photoshoots before, but did Forbes not tell you to loosen up a little?” He shook his head. “Okay, guess it’s up to me then.” He tried not to flush at her obvious exasperation with him.
“I apologize, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to having my picture taken. I much prefer to be behind the scenes.”
“Too bad you’re the face of the company. Now, look at how you’re sitting.” She gestured to his shoulders and posture, tense and rigid. “Don’t slouch, but let out some of that tension. Lean back in the chair.” She copied him, then laid back onto the chair, draping her hands in her lap. He imitated her, earning a small nod of approval. “There you go. Now, as I take pictures, make small adjustments to where your hands are, where your feet are, things like that. Don’t be afraid to move around.”
“Yes, thank you.” She stood and removed the chair and Tyril found himself at an odd loss. He suddenly noticed that there was an absence in the air next to him, no longer occupied by the smell of her lotion or the gentle swishing of her baggy pants. His heart had soared when she had given him that little ounce of praise and now, he found himself desperate for her to repeat that for him, but he didn’t know why. It bothered him to no end.
“Lean forward and clasp your hands for me.” He leaned forward and clasped his hands. “Good.” The corners of his mouth turned up.
#
“Mr. Starfury, you’ve certainly been making waves for yourself in many spheres.”
“Please, call me Tyril. And...I suppose. My family certainly does have their dealings in many different games, to put it lightly.”
“Yes, your family has a range spanning across so many different industries. Where exactly do you fit in?"
"Well, I run most of my family's research facilities, focusing on scientific research into soil acidity and agriculture."
"Don't worry, we didn't only bring you here to talk business. A lot of people know you as somewhat of a fashion icon. To what do you attribute your style?"
Tyril let out a laugh, polite and respectful and just the right volume. "I like to look professional, but I would have to shine a spotlight on the numerous stylists my father has employed, ever intent on ensuring I uphold my air of authority through my attire. I'd be an utter mess without them."
"What's an embarrassing moment for you?"
Tyril blinked at the sudden switch of subjects. "Well, one time during a presentation, I tripped on a wire onstage in front of hundreds of people. I fell flat on my face, and even broke my glasses. It was the most humiliating moment of my life."
"Wow, that's so….human."
"It happens to all of us, I believe. People like to forget that those they put on a pedestal can still fall."
"You're a very private person, as well."
"I am."
"Have you heard some of the rumors surrounding you?"
"I've heard that I grew up in a cult, that I'm secretly a vampire… Each one I've heard is more interesting than the last." He waved his hand dismissively and laughed again. “My favorite is that I’m secretly an elf.”
“Do you just let them roll off your back?”
“What else can I do, really? Plus, they’re not particularly harmful. It’s better for me to focus on running the company rather than any publicity I have.”
“Let’s switch gears a little bit. You’re a man of high education, correct?”
“I suppose...I went to Oxford and have a PhD in physics.”
“And you’re twenty-five?”
Tyril smiles, knowing where this was going. “Yes, I am.”
“If you don’t mind me being so vague, how exactly do you do it? Getting such a high degree so young and then running a company on top of it...must’ve been difficult.”
Tyril stopped for a second. “Coffee. Lots of coffee. I also have many helpers who the company would fall apart without.” He stopped again, seemingly to carefully craft his next words on his tongue. “I won’t lie and say that it was easy, however I also won’t say that it was as difficult as it could’ve been. I had the best tutors and a lot of money from my family to help open doors that others couldn’t find the key for, which is why I try and give back as much as I can to those less fortunate than I.”
“Is that the main focus of your research facilities?”
“Yes, we focus on testing soil in areas hit by devastation across the world. Our main goal is to provide relief for those unable to rely on the very ground on which they stand. Many of these areas use farming as their main source of food, water, and money, so when disasters, natural or otherwise, occur, it can be truly catastrophic to these small communities. We call it the Undermount Project.”
“How philanthropic of you.”
Tyril waved a hand again. “I could always be doing more, and I try to as much as I can.”
“And for the final question that everyone is dying to know...are you single?”
Tyril froze. “I...unfortunately don’t have time for love. So, yes, I am, uh, single.”
“Well, that concludes it! Naexi, did you get some good shots?” The interviewer stood and clapped his hands, retrieving the microphone from Tyril’s shirt.
“When he wasn’t nervously glancing at the camera, yeah.” She flipped through the camera, missing the flush that entered Tyril’s cheeks. He never considered himself a person to impress others, yet…
Why does he feel the need to impress her?
