appalachia is devastated. towns i loved, towns i visited all the time, are gone. not damaged, GONE. they are leveled to the ground. there is nothing left but rubble and ruin. people are dead. appalachia is poor to begin with and relies on tourism for a lot of its income, and multiple of those tourist locations are just...gone.

my town is okay, but it's flooded and wrecked. trees are blocking all but one way out of our neighborhood. power lines are hanging limp in the roads. we've been without power for over 24 hours and will continue to be without power for likely another 24+. disabled people and poor people are GOING to die from this. gods save appalachia.

there’s a lot of misinformation about lab grown meat and i want to point out that it is not at the point yet where it is ‘cruelty-free’ or environmentally friendly. a large volume of blood is required to create lab meat, specifically fetal bovine serum, which requires the slaughter of pregnant cows (pregnant cows are not normally slaughtered for obvious reasons so it’s very expensive). none of the lab grown meat start ups have been able to figure out how to create meat without fetal bovine serum. i think there’s a big difference in asking if the lab meat of right now became affordable and available would you eat it vs the potential lab meat of the future that theoretically doesn’t require the slaughter of any animals

i’m pro animal welfare and not an animal rights type. i eat meat and i have a degree in animal science and i wish all the money being poured into lab meat was going towards improving conditions for the beef and dairy herds we already have, and towards improving their carbon footprints with things like crossbreeding programs and movement towards more sustainable grass fed operations. the real villain here isn’t animal death, which is part of life, but the fact that capitalism will always incentivize poor treatment of animals for maximum profits. lab grown meat is just another cash grab that has created a whole new demand for bovine fetal serum when it was previously only needed in small amounts for biomedical research purposes

i got different answers when i asked my vegetarian sister, my vegetarian mom, and my vegan partner so.

I had a dream that I started seeing posts on tumblr about the "the pool water update." It was some new change to the site, being rolled out gradually, that people mostly didn't like.

When I got the pool water update, it turned out that when you opened up tumblr it would fill the room you were in with chlorinated water, up to the level of half an inch below your power outlets.

So to use tumblr you had to hold still, because too much movement would cause ripples that would rise to the outlets and electrify the water and kill you.

I had mixed feelings about the update. I got some pool noodles and it was nice to float around my bedroom whenever I checked tumblr. There was a trend called 'tranquilityposting' that I enjoyed. So not all bad.

There were a lot of blaze posts on dream-tumblr selling amulets that nullify electricity damage. Also, @max1461 claimed to have developed a 'posting technique that causes uncontrollable thrashing in 60% of tumblr users,' and was demanding a cash ransom to not use it

We're not appreciating the Weird Barbie enough. It's said in the movie that she helps everyone who need help while they always see her as someone who's not as good as them. She was friends with all dismissed Barbies and Kens, was there to offer support and safe shelter for everyone who needed it in Kendom, without her nothing in the movie would've been alright. When Stereotypical Barbie calls her "ugly and unwanted" she still helps her.
