By himself, as Blackrock's most infamous scientist, it's not comforting that someone so twisted and rotted would so casually sling an arm around another. It's unsettling. To know that someone so highly regarded and so highly feared asserts themselves so closely, acts so intimately despite the blood that so proudly soaks their hands. It's uneasy. It's terrifying. You may have to thoroughly remind him, but he'll understand if you're not savvy about his physical affections. If not for the general discomfort of lingering so close to someone whose very presence is poisoning, then it'd be for all other reasons, such as personal space or boundaries. Swords, he can understand. He remembers those lowly colleagues of his trying to get him to cozy up to them.

- Though if you are completely fine with his means of love, it's almost as if you've given him the opportunity to be close to you in ways you couldn’t fathom. You’ve given him the chance to be beneath your skin and bone, laying near the fragility of your heart as a sign of love. In other words, he's all over you. Maybe to a bothersome degree. Those casual affections only become sickeningly sweet when he's around you. After all, you are just about everything to him. Other than his devotion to Blackrock and its progress.

- But, again, his hands will seldom be away from you. An arm will lazily but securely drape around your waist, occasionally squeezing your sides to remind you of his presence. WORDS OF AFFIRMATION - The Head of the Robotics Division, Blackrock's greatest scientist, there are a multitude of titles and names that revere Subspace for his absolute brilliance and talent. However, whatever sweet praise they may have for him, it is utterly nothing when he hears your honeyed words upon his ears.

- If it wasn't apparent, you're what matters most to him other than the success of Blackrock. How others perceive him means nothing, whether they fear him or respect him; as long as you love him, then all other beliefs are practically worthless. After all, what does it matter if his exasperating colleagues tell him that he's a genius? He has you. Those words mean infinitely more when you briefly and blissfully kiss his cheek, praising him for his endless erudition.

- Though for your sake, it'd be wise not to mention that near-feverish flushing of his cheeks. It'd also be wise not to mention the near-worrying dilation and shaking of his pupils. Lastly, it'd be best not to mention the faint tremors of his body. Somehow, someway, a cruel and cunning scientist like him acts like a skittering student whose crush had just complimented them.

- If you do end up mentioning his dopey bashfulness, then expect for Subspace to impulsively chastise you. He's an inphernal with a reputation to uphold. And as much as he'll try to dull his usually sharp words, he'll slip to his old habits when it comes to being vulnerable with you. Of course, he'll apologize in his own way.

GIFTS: - For his most illustrious position at Blackrock, there are many luxuries that are easily accessible to him. The finest and comfiest clothes can be tailored at a moment's notice if he should ask, the most decadent meals can be made if he ever wanted them, and the most expensive gifts or commodities can be bought without even worrying about the numbers. Subspace follows such sentiments and practices as a reminder of what his brilliance has brought for him.

- By that logic, it wouldn't be wrong to assume that Subspace would only want gifts that satisfied his standards. He wants the most beneficial tools, the most opulent clothes, everything else of the sort. Yet, truthfully, Subspace adores whatever gifts you have to offer him. From costly presents to hand-made goods, Subspace cherishes each one- Not that he'd ever openly express such sentiments.

- You believed your first gift to him would be met with reluctance. Maybe he'd politely smile at you for your extravagant present before casting it aside somewhere where no one and not even himself could find it. However, to your surprise, he had gazed at it with a fondness that, at the time, you didn't know he was capable of. And later on, you'd find it proudly displayed on his desk. An almost entire spot dedicated to your craftsmanship.

- Subspace wouldn't have told you, at least not yet, that he always holds and looks over whatever gifts you give to him. Sometimes, it's to pass the bleak time in his laboratory or office. Other times, it's to remind himself of the love that you so eagerly give to him. No matter what, whether you consider them "half-assed" or "gaudy," he looks at each gift completely mesmerized.

ACTS OF SERVICE: - Some part of him used to be ashamed that he doesn't love as extravagantly and grandiosely as others. Unlike other inphernals, who could so easily embrace or cherish their partners with ease, Hyperlaser almost acts as if you're a complete stranger to him despite your being your lover.

- Too many times, he's "messed" everything up. He tries to offer you sweet praise, but his words are choppy and mumbled. They're curt and blunt, almost as if he's referring to you like a colleague rather than a partner. Then, he tries to offer you his physical affection, and they're clumsy too. It's either he handles you stiffly, like he's never held anyone in his life, That, or he handles you roughly, like he would anyone in a phight. You reassure him that there's no need to apologize for his inexperience, but he feels the guilt in his gut every time.

- Hyperlaser tries to make up for his awkwardness by making your day-to-day life less stressful. It'll be simple things. Maybe he's just opening and holding the door for you as often as he can. Maybe he's accompanying you on your errands. Or maybe he's smoothing the creases in your outfit. It's simple stuff he hopes you'll think is sweet; It's simple stuff he thinks you'll like.

- Over time, they're less and less simple, but he still believes his involvement in otherwise "insignificant" chores is nothing. He'll insist on cooking for you, whether that be in the rising dawn or the latest nights; It's a tender notion. Sometimes, you'll come home to the procrastinated pile of laundry done and neatly folded on your bed, courtesy of Hyperlaser. And when he feels his safest with you, he'll occasionally join you in the shower to do something like wash your hair for you.

- It is everything to you. It is everything that Hyperlaser is so persistently by your side. If not because of what he does to help you, then it's because he listens to each word of yours. He hangs onto each fleeting thought, complaint and comment of yours. He carries them onto the day in the hopes to make everything easier for you. It takes Hyperlaser time to realize that he has always been tender, soft, and loving the way that he believed fit. And so, through all of this, he learns that he doesn't need to change anything about himself or how he loves; He already loves as extravagantly and as grandiosely as he's seen.

PHYSICAL TOUCH: - It's foreign to him. He's to used to being met with the violence and cruelty of skin ship, returning it with the same sentiments. Hyperlaser has known cracked ribs, swelling bruises, stinging cuts, and debris lodged in his limbs that he almost is unsure of what to do when its anything but. He nearly retreats from each gentle and innocent touch you offer him.

- It was bad the first time. You had unexpectedly touched his shoulder from behind, and so, he reflexively had spun his heel and nearly swung at you. Forgive him. So much of his younger days were spent on learning drill commands, firing through a sniper rifle, and learning how to kill. Hyperlaser had felt so guilty when he realized what he could've done. Spent an entire week trying to make it up to you despite your reassurances that "It was fine!" and that "It was an accident!"

- It takes time; Everything takes time. Hyperlaser allows himself the vulnerability that is letting his rigid guard down, if just with you. Only then, does Hyperlasser realize that he wholly adores your touch. He loves you. He loves to feel you. He loves to have you feel him. It's safe and secure to him, something that is so fleeting to him sometimes with his life as Blackrock Mercenary.

- Nevertheless, he greedily accepts whatever affection you lavish him with even if he does not openly express such. So lean against him, rest your head on his shoulder or on his helmet and trust him as he does to you. So hold his hand, intertwine your fingers with his own calloused ones. And most importantly, take off his helmet and take his scarred visage in your hands. Whisper your honeyed nothings and handle him like he is not the hardened mercenary he has become. Tell him, through your touch, that he is everything to you as you are to him.

Why is it so hard to find ppl that actually understand bruce? I am tired of either finding ppl that see him as an abuser or others that only love wfa version of him I am really tired of this like really I can't even join a Fandom without getting my favorite character not getting mischaracterized left and right 😔

I'm going to rant a little bit here, and I apologize in advance. This isn't really directed at you. But I'm kind of tired of this flavor of ask. I get it a lot -- half of these asks are praising me for having a "good" interpretation of canon, and the other half are blasting me for being too "fanon" and bending too much to fandom tropes in my posts and writing. And of course the nonstop WFA hatred in my inbox is tiring.

Be the change you want to see in the world. If you don't like what the fandom is doing to your blorbo, write him your way. But sitting at the edge of the playpen complaining about how someone else is playing with their toys isn't useful. And it's really getting annoying to me, as a content creator.

I'm also tired of the superiority some canon-adherents have over those who write/draw more fanon tropes. So many of you are SO bitter over the idea that fandom is "ruining" Bruce or your other Batfamily blorbo because how DARE they write your blorbo in that way that is so OOC. How DARE they! And yet, you sit on the sidelines and create bitchy tumblr posts about how those fandom participants are stupid, or ill-informed, or simply don't have the higher thinking ability to understand your blorbo like you do.

And yet. You don't write Bruce the way you "enjoy." You don't create content or share posts or promote those canon characteristics you so highly value. Instead, you write posts complaining about the others in this fandom and deride them for being stupid like adhering to canon strictly somehow makes you better than anyone else. You mock their acceptance of fanon tropes as canon as if there is required reading in this fandom, entirely dismissing the idea that the line between DC fanon/canon is confusing as hell on a good day, and ignoring that the natural progression of engaging in fandom is finding out -- sometimes on your own timeline -- what actually happened in canon. Especially when canon is so vast.

And guess what? At the end of the day, we are all on the fandom website(s). You're still reading fanfiction at the end of the day. Canon or fanon or some blend of the in-between, you are still a fan participating in fandom content in some way or another. And we are all equal in that respect.

We are all here to enjoy these characters. Fanfiction is a medium that allows us to further explore canon, yes, But it is also a way to explore the OOC, the what-if's, the out of character but fandom-fave ideas and tropes people want. The fact that OTHER people enjoy those things should never impact your enjoyment of fandom.

If you cannot handle someone else playing with the same toys as you, but playing with them in a way you don't like, you need to go back to preschool. And if someone won't give you your toy back, find another one. Write the story. Create the post. Build your own engagement from the ground up, finding likeminded people if you can. They are definitely on here.

But I get the impression that when people complain about fanon "ruining" fandom, what they're actually saying is "I'm upset that canon content isn't as popular as fanon content." And that, I can't help you with. We can't always change what other people love or want to engage with.

I'm sorry that this rant is blunt, but it's been simmering inside me for a while. I'm really tired of getting and deleting this ask 15 times a day. You will not find much sympathy on this blog for canon purism and the derision of fanon/fandom, and for that I apologize. But it's the truth.

I enjoy consuming content about both "fanon" and canon Bruce. I like the contrast and complexities. But I have seriously had to stop following a ton of blogs in the last year who don't create "canon" content anymore and instead spend their time complaining about other people in the fandom who are just enjoying themselves and creating their own content. It's incredibly disheartening and frustrating.

This post has to be about me lol since op has me blocked. Though it could be about someone else, or many people. But there's always someone who is the last straw. They wanted us to see the discourse post yet blocked...

I guess I am an older fan, spiteful and entitled... but the thing, sn is still popular, the ooc version of it that is. In some ways it's worse than before, because they go out of their way to argue it's in character using shit like weird fillers or merchandise which are not CANON. They are not an oppressed minority by any means, just because me or maybe someone else writes posts criticising their portrayal. SN fics still portray Naruto as a doormat (tbf, it's hard to find ic fanfics in general) and Sasuke as weirdly sexually aggressive.

SN is popular "there aren't a lot of us anymore" is not true at all. The most popular sn blogs still make Sasuke daddy jokes, talk about Sasuke's dick size endlessly (and clearly think whoever has the bigger dick HAS to top), and compare Naruto to bimbo women like Ariana Grande and so on, and use Naruto as a fandom bicycle claiming everyone wants access to his butthole, while Sasuke of course cannot be shipped with anyone else (despite the fact both of them are only obsessed with each other). People even use someone like Megan Thee Stallion to argue Naruto has to be bottom lol. Even someone I know who is new to the fandom, admitted that SN portrayals are rarely ever in character, even if she finds many NS portrayals who are ooc, there are many times more SN ones that are like that.

Also I use Kishimoto's manga to argue about Naruto and Sasuke's characters, not 'headcanons'. I have gotten anons tell me they like my blog specifically because I focus on canon, don't mischaracterize either of them, instead of focusing on whose dick goes where all the time. :)

However, I do think there's more variety nowadays! But the ooc:ness is much more aggressively pushed at the same time. But what I heard from other people the person who made this post also likes Naruko and Naruto in a maid dress acting all girly and demure mostly and follows all the artists who mischaracterize them so I doubt they are the most unbiased person themselves when it comes to the question if sn fandom has changed or not. And you can just admit you only like sn, there's no need to pretend you used to like ns... and you aren't the person to yell at other people for their "ooc headcanons". I'm sorry to tell you but the Naruto in Kishi's head is not the type to dress up in frilly stuff and acting all girly girly. Also an actual female Naruto would be a tomboy.

Oj won't admit it, but anger management was only made for Paintbrush, despite its later popularity. Their anger issues are the only reason they're a fire hazard after all, so this was the solution to reduce the chances of them getting angry. Whether it's working or not is debatable.

*Candle, upon being classified as a fire hazard, was put in AM alongside Paintbrush. Though she quickly proved to be better as a teacher, replacing Goo, whose analogies weren't exactly helping anyone calm down.

Silver Spoon was not labeled as a hazard yet started attending classes after a few petty arguments. Though he was initially reluctant, he seemed not to complain after finding out Candle was leading it.

YinYang's behavior, though improved, has landed them both in trouble occasionally. AM was more so a suggestion.

There are more attendees, but they either aren't regulars or don't have a good enough reason to be listed

Lifering's "Life Guard" program:

Lifering volunteered to help prevent any accidents when there was no other reasonable solution. This includes sticking closer to "hazardous" objects. He's been spending the majority of time just being in the same room as Candle. Besides that, Lifering has generally been available immediately in case of emergency. (But then again, when was he not?"

Anti-Mold:

Food objects are susceptible to molding, especially if they eat moldy food, so everyone has been asked to leave dates on anything in the fridge. They aren't sure what they'd do if someone did start molding, but it's better to prevent it all together.

Just because we got to see a more vulnerable side of him lately it seems like some people are quick to forget this guy was RUTHLESS as head of the Oak Family. Also, are we going to pretend he didn't have to listen to the vilest stories ever as a Bronze Melodia? Regarding your post about sasuke mischaracterization and ships I have to agree with everything you said. When I see sns fans fighting s4susakus I can’t help but think how ironic it is sns fans act superior and call the sasuke in r3tsuden ooc when they give him the same personality but with naruto and think that’s not ooc too why is it so difficult to ship a ship and keep them in-character

simple, because they don’t like how naruto and sasuke’s dynamic is actually in canon. ss/sk/sns all want sasuke to act differently because his personality doesn’t fit what they want for their favorite characters so it’s either change sasuke’s personality (which leads to also change naruto’s and sakura’s and karin’s) or just go ship something else and make sasuke the toxic ex (many of such cases)

there’s also people thinking that by swapping their personalities/roles you make the ship more “equal” / “mutual” otherwise their relationship is toxic or unhealthy because tjey view ships through real life relationships which is ? because they are fictional characters. and also w sns they are already equals, being equals is not about that

I believe its because Mai didn't coddle Zuko in the beach despite him being a shithead in that episode is why she gets so much heat because you never heard from mai haters about zuko attacking man simply for talking to her is bad which i close to acutal abuse instead its she shouldn't have flirted with him thats the problem. they love to victim blame Mai for zukos bad attitude. so first of all, im probs gonna focus on bianka a lot in this because im unbelievably obsessed with her. and goddamn was that scene so bad. and also repeat a lot of things you Already Said.

to begin. it's very rushed!!!!!! this scene in its Base Format is inherently flawed simply because... bianka would not reveal her origin that early. like obviously at that point she was already being written very ooc [LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE ARC. SERIOUSLY. IM SO ANGRY ABOUT THAT] but arrrghgh. at least before this scene they at least pretended to preserve bianka's. how do i call it. General Cautiousness?

this is something that clearly means a lot to her and is shown before trying to figure out how to break the news in a gentle way. she is simply not a person who would say [in a very strangely spoken way] "oh im your daughter by the way". She Would Not. this is a woman who would awkwardly try to hang out with these two for a solid 2 months as she feels out how to Tell Them. while obviously, during moon arc she had already spent enough time with the rest of the main cast to Chill Out a bit, she's still just!! kind of emotionally and socially awkward!!! but in a completely different way than showcased in moon arc. does that make sense

also bianka does not speak like that istg if mhy doesn't learn the difference between a character that is Kind Of Serious and a character that sounds like they use a thesaurus for most their sentences-

but kiana and siegfried aren't safe from this either!!!!!! as you said. they departed on Not Great terms and have been separated for years. while they act as if its been maybe a couple of days. its very disappointing for me personally to see the complete lack of regard for the fact that yes, they do care about each other and this reunion is a very happy one, but still!! their bond was. a rocky one.

plus, there's a giant difference between a preteen and, at that point, an adult woman so. siegfried is not meeting the same person he lost. kiana has changed, and due to her experiences- probably even abnormally so, so they NEED to rebuild their relationship simply because even IF before their separation there was no conflict, it would change the fact its been far too long to treat each other as if they have never been apart.

AND the fact that kiana especially was so... unbothered? by the fact that DURANDAL IS HER SISTER. like. do i even have to elaborate. kiana kaslana, world's #1 identity crisis haver, someone who idolized, hated, and respected bianka [in that order], was just like. okay 💗 yay 💗? sighs so deeply. look at how they massacred my girls

theres much more i could say but i dont quite know how to put most of my dislike of this scene into words so like. arrggh. it was personally very very frustrating to me because, as i said, i am a big fan of both kiana's and bianka's. identity, and especially family heritage, is an extremely important part of both of their characters and it was physically painful for me to see a scene i looked forward to A Lot be dismissed like this.

which, unfortunately, is true for most of the moon arc, since it was the worst offender for characterization [or rather, lack thereof] in the entire game, with basically everyone being reduced to a mildly philosophical much so devoid of personality i probably couldn't tell their lines apart if presented with a couple. but alas.

i got smth in my inbox that i deleted because i got nervous and scared that someone hated me and then actually thought about, so i wanted to state it here

just wanted to say, i'm not trying to reduce silver spoon's character to "either a twink or trans". It's an inside joke i wanted to slightly include in the roleplay account but a lot of people kept overly adding it to the roleplay, and it's funny so i go with it but i also still don't like making it only about that. I'm not trying to reduce a character into one or two things, I've done a deep analysis of Silver Spoon before and i know that the character goes a lot deeper than just my headcanon. I'm sorry if I sometimes do reduce her character to just one headcanon, i tend to joke like that a lot (this also includes the usual "trophy is a twink" and stuff, i know the character goes a lot deeper than just a joke)

I am fully aware that Silver Spoon is a lot more than just a headcanon and thing i joke about with my friends. I'll try to make the stuff a bit less about the joke I have, none of this blog is supposed to be fully serious or taken as more than a silly thing i made for fun. Might change my bio to have less of it later, sorry for what i did, will try my best to not do it so much

The batshit thing about the R/K shippers hating on Jamie is that Keeley and Roy both love Jamie. The haters have completely ignored every character beat and growth and instead focused on "het couple is always end game" and got pissed when that didn't happen because it turns out their characters are more nuanced than that.

they mischaracterize all three of them to an insane degree because they for some reason feel the constant need to prove that R/K are the healthiest most well adjusted couple in the history of television and Jamie possesses absolutely zero threat to their relationship whatsoever because they both are merely 'putting up with him' at best or secretly hate him at worst (all of which are laughable claims to anyone who has watched the show with their eyes open, and possesses even the most meager analysis skills in their brains).

I also think the way they talk about R/K is often so reductive if not genuinely gross (in addition to just being like, generally of a heteronormative flavor)...and that's the ship they're meant to LIKE. like there were people yesterday screaming about how "Roy would NEVER share Keeley!!!1!!!" and it's like...well Keeley isn't a toy they're passing around or hogging, so jot that down. She's a person with her own agency, who isn't with... get this... EITHER ONE OF THEM at the end of the series!!! Yeah, that includes ROY!!! So Roy at the moment really has zero say in whether she wants to fuck Jamie again or not, lmao. she's every bit as capable of getting back together with him as she is Roy post canon. and if they were together, opening their relationship to someone else would be...a mutual decision...because Keeley is a whole character of her own and not just a prop for your male fav...

And then there's the whole "well we ship something that's actually CANON and therefore BETTER, whereas R/J & RJK shippers are just weaving mystical delusions because they're ~desperate for representation~ or whatever. Which is apparently why the Apple TV account and even the actors should never, ever so much as allude to RJK again, because it diminishes their "real and correct" couple. Again, NEITHER PAIRING IS EVEN ENDGAME CANON.

And finally, all the little ways they constantly try to mask the fact that they just hate Jamie because he's in the way of their ship with "real analysis" that boils down to such riveting takes as: "Jamie = Irredeemable and Bad because he hurt Keeley three seasons ago" "Roy = baby boy who has never hurt Keeley ever in his life and is perfect for her in every which way. oh? here's a canonical scene where Roy is canonically hurting Keeley? Tang Yun x Hall Headcanons:

(I feel like some of these are ooc/mischaracterized I'm so sorry)

They already met before either joined the Decree because their brothers hung out a lot, but they only started to know each other after becoming shadow guards

They first met when Bardon dragged Hall to one of Lucas’ shows, and while trying to find a spot to get away from the overwhelming music and yelling, Hall found Tang Yun hiding in a secluded corner, at the brink of tears and having a huge sensory overload (one day I’ll write a fanfic about it)

They both have very cheesy but cute pet names for each other:

I've already mentioned in a post that Hall calls Yun "Angel" because of the shape of his ears, but he also calls him "Min Elskede" which means "my darling" or "my beloved" in danish

And Yun calls Hall "pudding" because he likes to say that Hall is very sweet, just like pudding

Tang Yun likes to play with Hall's hair when he's bored or as a distraction to pass thr time after missions, he always does tiny braids on it

They’re both bilingual and they're teaching each other how to speak their languages(Hall speaks Danish and Tang Yun speaks Mandarin)

When they first started dating, Leon threatened to snipe Tang Yun if he ever hurt Hall's feelings and the Xie twins, especially Yuzhi, also made similar threats towards Hall  (they threatened to bury him alive if he ever fucked up)

They can't even stand next to each other without some shadow guard yelling “GET A ROOM”, it's mostly either Freddy, Jeanne or Yuzhi doing that just to annoy them

Tang Yun learned how to write in braille so he could leave little notes with loving messages scattered around Hall's apartment for him to read, Hall thinks it's really cute and he kept all the notes found so far

Hall will frequently buy a random trinket and gift them to Tang Yun because it made him think of him(they're usually mini stuffed animals, mini axolotl figurines, ponpon keychains, bracelets, etc), as much as Yun thinks it's adorable and cherishes every single trinket given to him, he can't help but worry about Hall's spending habits

Tang Yun's avataras are also very affectionate to Hall, but that actually makes Yun a little jealous (this hc was inspired by "The New Guy" btw)

Hall started hanging out with the Xie twins more often because of Yun, He became their alibi whenever they did their pranks and sometimes he joins in on it as well

tbc taking characters into uglier or darker characterizations than their canon counterparts isn't always bad, in fact it's frequently fun and really interesting, I'm specifically talking about shallow mischaracterization to get Pesky Wimmin away from m/m ships. A widespread epidemic which plagues us all.
