hi love!! how are you??💗
theres such a lack of franco stuff 💔 so since i just saw u were asking for ideas what about maybe franco and the reader have had feelings for each other for a while but kept them to themselves and something happens that provokes franco to confess 🤭 or the other way around :)) you can do whatever you want <3
JEALOUSY - FC43
Tumblr media
listen up : no warnings!! thanks for the request this is super fun and proud of franco for q3 today🧉🫡 keep requesting!!
word count : 1200
⋆。‧˚⋆
“Hi love.” Franco says smoothly in my ear, his hand resting on my waist as I take the drink out of his hand, coughing and handing it back quickly. He frowns, “I thought you would like this.”
I shake my head, “Gross.” My friends all look at us as he sips the drink.
“Just fuck and get it over with.” My friend says, making everyone laugh except Franco and I. I raise a brow at them as they apologize and scurry away.
I step away and look at Franco, his eyes are wandering around the club. He’s in all black, his waves big and as a piece falls in his face, he catches me staring.
We’re friends. I know that. And I love him for it. He’s respectful and kind, flirty and hilarious, and will never leave me behind. But sometimes it’s hard, I feel like we have these moments then it just disappears.
“Love?” He asks and fuck me, that nickname gets me everytime. I look away and try to hide my blush but he grabs my chin and turns my head back, a grin on his face and a spark in his eyes.
“I need an actually drinkable drink!” I yell over the music as he laughs and stands up straighter.
“I’ll grab you something.” He says it quickly but I shake my head.
“No chance, Colapinto!” I back up, “Don’t cry without me.”
“Unlikely.” He winks and when I turn, my cheeks are still hot. My friends give me a look and I can’t help but smile, I like Franco. I can’t help it.
You try having your best friend flirt with you while looking like that.
I’m still smiling when I order my drink. I almost don’t notice the man sliding up next to me. He’s tan and blonde, he smiles at me and I politely smile back, looking away.
When he doesn’t move, I look back to him again, “Hi- Sorry, I couldn’t help but come up to you. You’re gorgeous.”
I smile politely, “Uh, Thank you!” I am single, even if my mind tricks me sometimes when I look at Franco.
“You here alone?” I’m about to say no but when I turn to look at Franco, I laugh out loud. He’s with a girl, she’s pretty with dark skin and boobs that Franco’s getting distracted by.
“Yes!” I turn back to him, “I am!” The bartender hands me my drink and I start on it immediately, “I’m Y/n.”
He smiles, “JJ.” He starts talking about himself and as I listen, my hand goes to his arm and he scoots a bit closer.
I find myself genuinely laughing at things he says, not because I find him funny but I find what he’s saying ridiculously stupid.
I can’t help but look back at Franco, he’s staring at me. That’s surprising. The girl is still next to him, smiling and talking still.
I raise my brows at him and he does the same to me. I mouth, ‘What?’ but he just rolls his eyes and looks back at the girl. Fuck. Him.
“Y/n? Are you listening to me?” I look back at the man who didn’t even ask me a question, as he frowns.
“Dude, I don’t even remember your name.” I take my drink and walk away. I see Franco follow me out of the corner of my eye.
I groan, walking past my friends as they ask me what’s wrong, “I’m gonna go!” They start to follow me out but stop when they see Franco.
I set my drink down and keep maneuvering through the crowd, the fresh air finally hitting me. “Y/n!” He yells after me but I keep walking, ignoring the cold.
I don’t say anything so he calls after me again, “Y/n! You can’t just leave alone!”
I roll my eyes and turn around, “What do you want me to do then? Go home with that blonde?” I say sarcastically as his face drops.
We’re farther away from any people now, “No. I wanted you to come get me.”
“And take you away from your attention holder? No thanks.”
He shakes his head, “This can’t be because you’re jealous.” he scoffs, “I was having a conversation! And we’re not…” he trails off and I groan.
“We’re not what, Franco? And I'm not the one that is jealous in this situation! You were giving him a death glare.”
“Yeah well the way he was looking at you, he deserved it.” I roll my eyes and start to walk away again but he grabs my arm, “Wait- Y/n! I don’t get it.”
“Seriously? Are you that fucking blind or just plain stupid!?” He looks shocked I would yell at him.
Well I'm pissed off and angry at him. “You can't complain about some guy talking to me when you were otherwise occupied.”
“She- No. Y/n, I was barely listening to her. She fucking recognized me and I couldn’t hear a thing she said because you were laughing with that douche bag!”
I cross my arms, his touch leaving me. “You don’t even know him.”
“What’s his name, Y/n. I’ll get to know him.” He raises a brow as I look away, “I just- Fuck it’s hard. And I don’t want some slimy prick hitting on you!”
“Right, cause you’re the only slimy prick who gets to do that.” He lets out a dry laugh. “You are jealous!”
“Of course I am!” His tone makes me frown, he sighs then looks me in the eye, “I don’t want to share you. I hate being your friend because all I can think about is us kissing but that’s weird because you don’t want more and I'm trying to be respectful and a gentleman but shit, Y/n. You’re making it really hard.”
I just stare at him, frozen. He speaks again, “And I'm sorry. I mean, I'm not sorry for getting you to ditch that guy but…” I laugh a bit and it makes him smile, “I’m sorry for not saying this sooner.”
I shake my head, everything I've dreamed about coming true in the matter of minutes, “Franco.”
“If you’re gonna reject me, just get it over with please.” I laugh and his face tells me it doesn’t make him feel better.
“Franco.” He meets my eyes again as I move my hands to his neck, then jaw, reaching up and kissing him softly, “I really like you too.”
He freezes for a second and I'm worried I've done something wrong. But then his face breaks into a grin and he kisses me again, wrapping his arms around me and spinning me in the air.
I laugh as he hugs me, “This is the best day of my life.” He sets me down as my cheeks start to hurt from my smile.
“I thought your F1 debut was the best day of your life?” His hands slide to my waist as he shakes his head rapidly.
“Fuck that. Better things have come!” He kisses me again and I melt into him, “You’re better than anything I could have asked for.”

I hope this is okay! This one was requested for Yoongi, Namjoon, or Hobi and I went with Yoongi.
#4 I should’ve told you a long time ago
#23 We have to be quiet
Warnings: Angst, swearing, Teen pregnancy
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
You felt like you’d just seen a ghost. The man standing in front of you being the same man that broke your heart fifteen years ago when he decided his career was more important than you or your relationship.
“Hi Y/N, sorry to just show up announced. I was back in the area and thought I’d stop by.”, he smiled a familiar heart stopping smile.
Against your better judgement you invited him in. Once the coffee was finished brewing you put two cups down on the table before taking a seat across from him.
“Okay Yoongi, how did you find me and what do you want?”, you spat.
He was a little taken back by your cold attitude, “I got your address from Mia. I just wanted to see you. Make sure you’re doing okay. It’s been a while.” You made a mental note to scold your best friend the next time you saw her.
“Well you can see I’m okay so finish your coffee and go. I’m sure you’ve got a hotel room full of women and booze waiting for you.”
“Seriously Y/N? That’s how you’re going to talk to me? Even after all these years.”, he questioned.
After breaking up with you and once his career took off Yoongi became somewhat of a hard partying womanizer. Always being photographed with a different woman every night or stumbling out of random clubs if he wasn’t thrown out. He’s been married three times, but claims only one was legit and the other two were just drunken mistakes. Sometimes you were glad he let you go. Maybe he did you a favor after all.
“I’m sorry Yoongi. It’s just late and I’ve worked all day. I wasn’t expecting company, especially not you.”, you said.
“I understand. I won’t stay long. I just wanted to check on you and finally apologize for everything.”
Before you could respond you heard the front door open and shut and soon after your teenage daughter appeared in the kitchen.
“How was work baby?”, you asked trying to calm your nerves and appear normal.
“Ugh well I’m covered in grease and pizza sauce, but I’m another day closer to affording a car.”, she replied grabbing a drink out of the refrigerator.
“That’s right Anna. You know the deal, I’ll match however much you come up with so the more you save the better of a car you can get.”
“Alright well then get ready because I want to have a similar one to the Porsche that is currently parked in the drive way.”, she chuckled before looking at Yoongi with wide eyes.
“Anna this is an old friend of mine. His name is Yoongi. And Yoongi this is my daughter Anna.”
Yoongi curiously looked her over before giving her a wave. Anna politely said goodbye before mumbling something about needed to scrub the pizza grease off and running upstairs.
“How old is she?”, Yoongi immediately questioned.
“She is about 15 years old.”, you cringed because you already knew what he was thinking.
“Mmhm I see. And her father is…?”
You nodded, “Her father is sitting at this kitchen table right now.”
He jumped back until he was flush against the wall, “What the fuck Y/N? What the fuck? All these years? All these years and you never once thought to tell me you gave birth to our daughter? To my daughter?!”
Just as fast you ran to him placing your hand over his mouth, “We have to be quiet. She doesn’t know about you or us. Let’s go upstairs and talk.”
He nodded as you took his hand leading him towards your bedroom where you could make sure the door was closed and locked.
Once inside you heard Yoongi laugh. “What is so funny?”, you questioned.
“Oh I don’t know. I guess because the last time you snuck me up to your room it ended with you getting pregnant and me not finding out about for fifteen years.”, he hissed.
Your blood started boiling, “Look, I should’ve told you a long time ago. I admit that. But you’re the one that broke up with me without even asking what I wanted.“
“Because I wanted to protect you. I knew I couldn’t give you the relationship you deserved with how much time and energy I had to put in my music. We weren’t even adults yet. I was young and dumb and didn’t know how to handle all the changes.”
“Maybe I would’ve been okay with that. Maybe I would’ve been okay with what little you could give me instead of nothing at all.”, you whispered hearing your voice become unsteady.
Yoongi still knowing you well knew that was a telltale sign that you were about to cry so he sat down on the bed and pulled you down next to him while while running soothing circles on your back.
“Did you know you were pregnant the day I broke up with you?”, his voice cracking at the end.
Too scared to speak you nodded your head.
“So why didn’t you tell me? I would’ve taken care of you, both of you.”
“That’s why I didn’t tell you. After you told me that you got an offer from a record label and were moving to the city to pursue your career I didn’t want to be the reason you gave that up. You were so close to achieving your dreams and a girlfriend and a baby would have only made it harder.”
He ran his hands over his face in frustration and maybe a little anger, “Fuck Y/N, I can’t believe you’ve been doing this along all these years. How could you hide this from me?”
“It wasn’t bad. My parents helped when they could. I have friends. We’ve been doing okay.”
“She’s beautiful.”, he said after a while causing you to giggle, “Of course she is. She looks like you in a wig.”
You continued, “She’s really smart and kind. She’s so thoughtful. She has a big interest in music. Just like her father. She’s a big fan too. She’s probably freaking out in her room right now. I don’t know how she kept it together downstairs. ”
He smiled at the thought.
The room fell into an awkward silence after that.
“Well I better get back to my hotel. It’s really late. Maybe I can come back and get to know her more. If that’s okay with both of you.”, he said standing up.
“Yoongi wait!”, you leaned forward to stop him, “Um what if you spent the night? You can have breakfast with us in the morning and we can talk about everything. The three of us.”
He nodded and crawled back into bed making sure to leave a comfortable space between the two of you but reaching for your hand to let you know it’ll all work out in the end.

He loves getting home to his family after a long day after work.

[freya chuckles and stop. starts chuckling again]
[collin]: what is it?
[freya]: nothing...
[freya chuckles again]
[collin]: i’m really curious right now, freya
[freya]: i’m sorry. i’m interrupting you...
[collin]: just... tell me what it is
[freya]: fine. look at this. they made a fan club for me. because they think i’m lucky to have both of the hottest middle-aged men.
[collin]: is this for real? or is it like a prank or something?
[freya]: i don’t know. but look at these editings they did...
[collin]: *reads* ... and collin is getting even hotter with time, as for his brother he is...
[collin]: oh my god! did they really write this about avery? he’s going to freak out!
[freya]: i know. thank god he hates social media
[collin]: this is hilarious
[freya]: i know, right?! although i don’t agree. you two are equally aging like fine wine to me.
[collin]: it’s funny how people are starting to see me differently now that i’m older. he was always the handsomest twin, even if we’re just the same.
[freya]: i always thought you were attractive, but you were my friend...
[collin]: that’s my point, avery was your friend, too.
[freya]: we had a frenemy situation, because of you. you were the reason avery and i used to hang out. he always followed where you were. i hate that you always felt like his shadow when he always just appreciated staying close to you. if we’re together right now it’s one of his proofs of love to you and to me
[collin]: it never bothered me, to be his shadow, freya. maybe you see it like that, because i’ve always loved you and because you were with him and not me. however, it never occurred to me to feel jealous of the attention he always has gotten from everyone. i love my brother and even when we were both discovering our feelings towards you, we never fought about it. Instead, we always pushed you to the other.
[freya]: *chuckles* like if i were a thing and not a person capable of making a choice
[collin]: well, it was clear to me that he chose you, he was just being foolish... really foolish.
[collin]: and he’s a better person than i am, because if i had a chance to be with you from day one, i would and i’d say thank you.
[freya]: i’m sorry it took this long to realize how much you mean to me.
[collin]: it is what it is... i’t’s in the past now
[freya]: still... i feel like we lost too much time
[collin]: perhaps... perhaps if we weren’t this old, we wouldn’t have been this mature to deal with this type of situation.
[freya]: you’re probably right.
[collin]: enough with the talk, because you’re looking pretty in my bed and i’m having some thoughts...
[freya]: oh really?
[collin]: every day with you is a dream coming true, freya
[collin]: and i don’t want to ever wake up. every day when i wake up in the morning i feel like i need to check if everything we’ve been living is still real. that you’re mine, that we have a son together and that my brother still loves me
[collin]: and when i get the confirmation that you’re indeed with me, that we have a family together, it just makes me whole.
[freya]: oh collin...
[collin]: i know... i’m being sappy again
[freya]: you are... but this is so beautiful. i love you.
[freya]: i love when you kiss me like that
[collin]: i’ll kiss you like that until i can’t do it no more. i’ll love you until the day i die, freya.
[freya]: i love you, collin. so fucking much.
[collin]: now, c’mere here
*giggles*

(a/n): kennedy and bucky (pre-kiss/confession mess they are) in a situation after kennedy's nightmare and well. this speaks for itself. let's just say -- pre-marital cuddling? OH THAT IS ABSOLUTELY ON THE DOCKET !!!!!! these two are just. totally adorable. soft. witty. funny. i-
When Kennedy had blinked her eyes open, she was face to face with the wall of the bunk room.
And everything was a bit hazy, her vision fuzzy like she wasn't fully awake yet.
And there was a quiet hum in the room, that vaguely reminded her of waking up in her aunt's shore house in the summer when her and her cousins would crash on the couches that overlooked the bay. A drip of nostalgia hit her insides in a way that made her rapidly blink her eyes to wake up and figure out where she was.
The blank, darkened wall of the bunk room though was enough to strip away any thought of home and remind her that she was right here.
In the Stalag.
Though for the first time in weeks, she was warm.
Considerably warm.
And there was an annoying huffing and snoring in her ear.
Kennedy narrowed her gaze, before slowly widening her eyes. Realization hit her like a slap in the face and suddenly she was aware of everything touching her body. The blanket tucked up under her chin as she curled the edge of her thin pillow against her cheek, the sudden weight around her chest and the warmth from that weight, certainly what she could consider a presence. She wasn't entirely even complaining though about the current position she was in - if anything, she was comfortable and well-rested and had never felt more protected and held in her life.
And she had been with multiple boys from the country club that her mother had sworn up and down were 'as sweet as blueberry pie'.
Blueberry pie sucked anyway if she was being honest.
As her senses came to her more, she could hear a few voices from somewhere behind her - behind her, repeat, there were voices past the person currently wrapping their arms around her form and pulling her into them.
A million thoughts raced through Kennedy's mind at what was about to occur - she was going to have to first off, wake up Bucky Egan of all people, who was laid curled around her like an unmoving excuse of a rock.
Second, once he does wake up, he would start talking and not stop and somewhere in that string of words, he would say her name.
Third, people would start looking their way, and Bucky would slide out of the bunk and she would follow, and have to explain herself in some poor fashion because she was never great with words like Annie or Bessie were. It wasn't that she was embarrassed, it was far from that if she were honest - the embarrassment would sneak in - but it was more of the fact that she let herself get so vulnerable and open and emotional. She didn't want to put that pressure on anyone, especially someone like Bucky.
Kennedy slowly shifted the slightest bit, hoping it would get Bucky to move himself awake. When she did so, she felt his grip tighten on her and a small sigh to escape his lips into her ear. Goosebumps raced over her skin and she couldn't help but feel the tops of her cheeks warm.
"You grip me any tighter and I'm going to burst a lung," Kennedy whispered quietly over her shoulder the best she could, feeling his grip loosen and a small chuckling huff escape his lips - oh, he was absolutely awake, "thanks." Bucky mumbled something unintelligible, before she felt the pressure of his head against the back of her neck again. She raised her brow.
"What?"
"I wouldn't allow that to happen." he mumbled, a bit louder this time, still sounding as if he was half-asleep, "I swear, Kenny."
"Well, it's about to and you'll be the reason." she muttered back and she heard a small laugh escape his lips as he cuddled closer to her and let out another sigh of evident comfort and content.
"You know, Kenny, one might say thank you for allowing someone else in their bunk for a night," he muttered out quietly, a light-hearted tone to his voice, "offering up this tiny little space for two people. Squished in like we're sardines. Really sticking my neck out, ya know?"
Kennedy shifted and glanced towards Bucky as she readjusted onto her back. She found him sat up a bit, one arm still lazily wrapped around her chest, as he pulled her close to him, his tired eyes looking down at her. In the morning, those walls came up, those terrors and fears that slipped from her lips were yet again buried - and she was determined to act like it had almost never happened.
Last night.
Her telling him her fears, why she couldn't sleep.
The plane.
"Thank you." she said quietly, hoping her voice was still low enough for only him to hear, "Seriously, Bucky, I mean it." Bucky grinned at her without so much so as a need for words.
"It's alright, I was just teasing, you silly goose," he said, a small laugh escaping his lips, before he caught her gaze and his eye softened, nodding to her, "how'd you sleep?"
Kennedy watched him for a moment. The window that was nearby was bright enough with enough sun to illuminate half his face, making it appear honey-gold, making his eyes seem more alive than they ever have before. His gaze was subdue, his eyes soft as they watched her, and the corner of his lip was perked upwards - and if she was being honest with herself it did make her heart race.
Something about this entire situation made her heart race, it made her entire being feel a little crazy. Something in the back of her head dumbed it down though - she was just here because she'd woken in the middle of the night and Bucky was looking out for her.
Looking out. For her. That was it. That's all it was. Sure - it didn't explain him cuddled against her or her enjoying it, but she shoved it out of her brain when she noticed him still looking at her with that quiet look. If this were another time, and somehow she was waking up beside Bucky Egan, she would wish that somehow she got to do this all the time. It beat waking up to a pillow.
"Hm?" she asked quietly, feeling Bucky shift beside her and grin.
"How'd you sleep?" Bucky asked quietly, "You look relaxed, you know." Kennedy grinned a bit, blushing suddenly knowing he'd seemed to notice exactly how she felt.
"Really well," Kennedy said, suddenly almost shy at the words that slipped from her lips, suddenly turning her eyes towards Bucky's shoulder instead of you know, his face, "better than the past few weeks, if I'm being honest."
"Good." Bucky said with a nod, a genuine one at that, before smiling at her, "Something we can finally agree on." Her eyes darted to his in mild surprise, but instead he was peeling away from her and pulling himself out of the bunk, his fingertips dragging over her jacketed stomach, his warmth following.
Kennedy watched as he stood to his feet, receiving nods from Brady, Buck and DeMarco who were stood and sat about, the likes of Annie in a chair beside Bessie who were most likely looking at a map spread out in front of them.
Kennedy reached up to rub at her eyes and then, with what will she had left in her body, turned to slide out of the bunk as well as was almost more grateful than anything when people barely seemed to bat an eye. Annie did glance upwards though - only to send a small smile her way, in a notion of a morning greeting, if anything - she was always doing that, checking in, nodding, grinning.
That was Annie Bradshaw for you.
"Coffee, Farley?" Benny asked her, standing by the mini stove, lifting up a tin cup, "It ain't much, but still tastes a bit like coffee."
"With some imagination." Brady muttered as he sipped at his own cup of 'coffee'. Kennedy stood still for a moment, vaguely feeling Bucky's eyes on her, much more incredibly aware of the fact that sometimes he'd watch her without her even noticing. He'd probably done that before and she didn't even take a second to put it in her mind. Now, she could feel his eyes right on her as she walked over to Benny with a nod.
"Sure," she said, watching as he poured the cup of coffee and handed it over.
"Imagine there's cream and sugar in there." he told her with a smile.
"Whole lotta imagination this morning, huh?" Kennedy asked him with a chuckle as she gratefully took the cup and sipped some of it down, cringing a bit at the watery bitterness but relishing it none the less. It was liquid, caffeine and something to put in her stomach. She wasn't complaining.
Turning, Kennedy picked her way towards a spot at the table and looked across at Annie and Bessie who had Buck and Bucky crowded behind them, pouring over that map again.
"What's all that about?" Kennedy asked quietly, catching Annie's gaze as she looked up from the map.
"Bessie's been taking 'walks' with Hambone." Annie offered with a slight smile, "Has the entire camp mapped out - down to the detail. Gates, entrances, barracks, washing halls, the works."
"If we ever need…." Bessie started before dropping her voice, "some sort of means of escape." Kennedy glanced over at Brady who had stood and was now standing behind the two women, sipping his watery coffee and looking down at the map.
"Where are we putting it?" Brady asked her with a low voice - ideally Kennedy's own question.
"In my shirt," Bessie said, looking back up at him with a grin, "I don't need them doing what they did to us when they found Buck's radio, alright?" Brady met Annie's eyes it seemed for a split second before nodding at Bessie.
"We could also trade off - keep it hidden, they wouldn't guess," Brady offered settling beside Annie with a smile, "better to play a bit back at them with their own game."
"Yeah, well, that's if we can even find a way outta this shit hole." Bucky said settling down beside Kennedy, which undoubtedly made her heart pound a bit as she noticed Annie's watchful eyes on her, and Bessie's rather profound staring. The boys didn't appear to care nor were that observant to mind, but it was evident that Annie and Bessie had clued in.
"You think we could even get past those guys - weapons and all? Barbed wire? Their watch dogs, huh?" Bucky said, "I don't know if there's a shot even a mile away. Plus, where the hell would we go?"
"Just start moving west - towards France then." Annie supplied, her calming voice usually one that helped them all the breath a bit easier - its steady presence and calm confidence, "We do what we can. Not saying this is happening anytime soon, but….if the opportunity were to appear….." Brady glanced at Annie before looking at the group.
"We'll keep a plan set in place." Brady said quietly and Bucky seemed to agree with that.
"We'll keep it on the low-low," Buck said softly from his bunk, "there's no telling who is hearing what or what others are saying or thinking, alright?" A few whispered agreements of 'yes' wrung about.
People seemed to dissolve into their own conversations again, a few people stepping out for air, a walk about the place. Bucky turned to Kennedy and leaned up against the table with a wide grin her way. She watched him, unflinching and raised a brow.
"What's that look for?" she asked, taking a sip again of the watery coffee, before dropping her voice, "You were cuddled up to me all night, Bucky, you could keep the staring like that to a minimum." Bucky looked flustered for a second, caught off guard by her words, before smirking.
"Correction: you were the one cuddled up to me."
"You had your arms wrapped around me like I'd run away." she countered back.
"You weren't complaining."
"Your snoring wasn't making up for it." He stared at her as she said that and smiled wider.
"I know that look, Kenny," he said quietly, reaching up a finger to lightly tap under her chin, "don't tell me you didn't feel better protected from those nightmares, huh?" Kennedy's cheeks warmed and she shrugged her shoulders. She was quiet. She wouldn't lie.
"Gotcha there." he said quietly beside her with a chuckle, "Thanks for not punching me by the way." Kennedy looked at him and then gently gave a punch to his shoulder.
"Don't start doing things then that make you ask for it, got it?" she said, holding his gaze for a second longer than she should've, but there was something about that morning sleepiness still in his eyes that made her want to stare at him. In that quiet moment, she found herself smiling a bit. "You're still tired, you should lay down."
"Nah, I'm good." he said quietly, watching her back, with a nod, "I'm good just right here. You and me." Kennedy let out a small chuckle and nodded her head.
"Really?" she asked him with a growing smirk, "Seriously, go hit the hay for a bit."
"You wanna join me?" Kennedy gave him a punch to the shoulder.
"Bucky, be serious for a minute." she said, but couldn't hold back her bit of laughter as he smiled at her again.
"I am." he said with a wide smile, before leaning forward again, "You think this could be us? Back at Thorpe Abbotts? Drinking coffee together? Maybe back in the States?"
"Are you asking me out?" she said, almost half-jokingly, sipping the watery coffee again with a confident look his way - where that boldness had come from, she blamed the will of standing up against her brothers. But Bucky stared at her, face drawn into a serious look, before clearing his throat and letting out a laugh with a smile.
"If you put it that way…." he started and she shoved his shoulder again with a sigh, ignoring the fluttering in her chest and that look in his eye.
"I'm kidding, silly," she said and sipped the coffee again, something mindless to get her distracted, "seriously, go lie down. If they make us stand out there for hours again, you'll be dead on two feet."
"I already am." Bucky murmured with a chuckle and Kennedy sent him a look. He shrugged her off as he stood.
"If you ever wanna join, you know where to find me-"
"Bucky." muttered Kennedy, shoving his arm as he stood and he only laughed, before moving a few feet to pull himself onto the bunk and look at her. She stared at him and he smirked, before flipping over and letting out a sigh. Only then, did she sit there for a few moments and backtrack that entire conversation.
God help her.

Chapter 9: The search for love
The next day, Rogue was putting extra care into his appearance for school. Instead of a messy bun, he put his hair into a clean bun, and instead of wearing his glasses he wore shades with dragons on them, because he’s cool like that now. Even fresh thought so, saying “You got mad rizz Rogue-meister.” Rogue blushed slightly but thought that he needed to stop letting fresh stick around doug, he’s a bad influence. He picked up rogue by the leg and put them into his bag, zipping it up, putting it on and heading out to school.
On the journey to school he saw Minerva walking to school with a bottle in hand, she seemed to be walking funny. Rogue decided to approach her anyway.
“Hey milady… you wouldn’t be able to pretend to be my girlfriend for me, would you? M- my grandmother is dying and-“
“Pah! Save me the sob story Cheney” she wobbled a bit and bumped into him, almost knocking his sunglasses off his face, “I’m many things but a liar ain’t one of them. So I’ll tell you the truth, you won’t find anyone in the saber tooth club willing to do this. I got my eyes on sting (but the gods couldn’t make him see me the same way), Yukino’s mad in love with her boyfriend, Sorano would walk all over you, and Lilac isn’t even here these days, you probably haven’t even met her yet. Try branching out, start talking to women outside stings radar.”
Rogue blushed a bit and nodded, “Right, thanks…” he said before quickly walking away. Was Minerva really in love with Sting? Did he have even more competition? As he  walked away he could hear Minerva singing loudly, taking a swig of her bottle,
“Why do good boys hate bad girls, I’ve had this question for a really long time! I’ve been a...”
Rogue couldn’t make out the rest.
The corridors were crowded as usual and Rogue barely made it to his locker. Sting must have already went to class since there was no sign of him anywhere. Then Rogue spotted his next potion, Mirajane Strauss. He decided to approach casually, trying not to be too forward since he didn’t know her all that well so it wouldn’t work out in his favour. Then it came to him, what would sting do? He would be confident, really confident.
“H- hey mirajane… can we talk?” Rogue asked her. She turned around and tilted her fedora, “M’lord. Come, we can talk in private.”
Minutes later the two were in some empty abandoned storage room. “I’ve thought about what you’re going to say and… I accept! I will be your wife. But-“
“A- actually, I was going to ask if you could be my fake girlfriend for a while until my grandmother dies so she doesn’t die with a broken heart… a more broken heart…”
Mirajanes eyes widen and then she tilts her fedora down, “All men are the same. You just couldn’t handle a sigma female like me… I bet you don’t even like women, your probably a misogynist.” She reached into one of the boxes and pulled out a katana
“I- I’m sorry I’ll just go…” he goes to the door.
Mirajane holds the katanas handle, “Your sky daddy can’t save you now… when you make a sigma female angry, you waken her inner demon, and you don’t want to waken my inner demon… nothing personnel kid…”
But Rogue had already left, not wanting to see her inner demon. God Mirajane was so cool, the way she used her katana like a professional and talked about how much of a sigma female she was… Rogue could only wish he was that cool. He had to get a fedora sometime…
He decided he had enough of being a professional flirt for the time being, so he went to class as normal. During the lunch break he moved to his next lucky woman. This time he was going to take a different approach, he was going to use a pickup line on Kinana, one he made up himself.
“Hi Kinana, are you a dragon? Because when you fire- when your hot- when you-“
Rogue suddenly feels a sharp strike to the side of the head.
Above him stood Laki, “I expected better of you Cheney. For trying to hit on Kinana, I’m gonna punish you…” she said, taking out a whip from nowhere in particular and pulling on it. “I’m going to tie you up in my torture chamber and step on you until you start meowing and calling me your dying grandmothers name… and I’m gonna burn all your nerdy books about dragons…” she says with a smirk. Rogue would have been into that first part but a line was being crossed with calling his dragon books nerdy. With a burst of strength, he lept in the air and did a backflip, kicking Laki in the face before running across the wall to escape. As he kicked her she made a noise that sounded suspiciously like a moan for fanservice reasons. How did she even know his grandmother was dying? Anyway, once he was a safe distance away, he turned a corner and bumped into Lucy Heartfilia, who was also running. “Rogue?” Lucy said, confused, “Why are you running?”
“ROOOGUE!!!” Laki said as she stormed through the corridor, cracking her whip.
“Her. What about you?”
“LUUUCYYYY!!!!” Juvia said, also storming down the corridor.
“Her. Quick, I know a place…” she pulled him through the door to the second abandoned storage room today and locked them in. They were safe now.
Lucy spoke first, “Let me guess, you were trying to find someone to fake being your girlfriend and used a pickup line on the wrong person, resulting in them personally insulting you and awakening a newfound rage?”
Rogue nodded, kinda confused
“Same here. It seems people aren’t as willing to start fake relationships as I once thought…” Lucy said, sitting down on the floor. Rogue sat down next to her, thinking about how easy it would be for sting to get a fake girlfriend.
“Wait, what if… YOU became my fake girlfriend?” Rogue asked, blushing
“R- really? You would do that? T- that’s a genius idea? Killing 2 birds with one stone! Rogue your so smart!” Lucy said, also blushing.
Rogue let out a sigh of relief knowing this was all over. So did Lucy.
“Meet me at my place tomorrow after school, we’ll need to get to know eachother if we want to do this convincingly.”
Rogue nodded in agreement.

51. I Miss My Friends. New Acquaintances.
Since the "fight" with Jay and Cliff, the guys hadn’t been in touch for a couple of months—the longest period of separation they had ever had.
Lana saw Jay a couple of times. It was hard to avoid each other completely when they were next-door neighbors. They just silently waved to each other across the street and went about their business.
As far as she knew, Jay spent all his time at soccer training, having become the new quarterback for the team.
Cliff and Jay had also stopped communicating. She saw Cliff with the computer club, a group he had wanted to join since the start of freshman year. She was happy to see him smiling.
Despite all this, none of them made any effort to initiate a conversation. It felt like they were just acquaintances and not best friends for life.
Tumblr media
This started to deeply bother Lana. She missed her friends, their silly times together, and their support. Too many times, she had wanted to call them; too many times, she picked up the phone and dropped it before hearing any ringing on the other side.
One morning, she woke up from a very nice dream. In it, she was back in middle school, having fun with her best friends as they roller-skated in the park, laughed at Clifford’s poor balance, and shared bites of each other's ice cream. The dream brought warmth to Lana's heart but also deep sadness.
That day, her father dropped her at school, but instead of going to class, she decided to skip it. It, actually, was the first time she skipped school without a good reason.
Tumblr media
She wandered to the local pier, walked along it for a while, thinking about what she should do, and checked the photo booth she and the guys often used to make funny pictures together. They already had a whole collection of those photos. She smiled at the thought of it.
Tumblr media
She then came to the nearby park, found an empty picnic table, and sat down, took out her journal and re-read some memories. As she was about to add a new entry, a voice from behind called her name.
“Hey, you’re Lana, right? My name is Gerard. We have a couple of classes together. Sorry, I didn’t mean to bother you, just saw you here alone and thought I wouldn’t mind some company. If you want me to leave, just say so.”
“Hi, yeah, I think I’ve seen you in Mrs. Coombs’ class. No, I don’t mind company. In fact, it’s a bit too quiet here,” she smiled.
“So, what are you up to here, skipping school?” Gerard joked.
“I guess that makes the two of us,” Lana replied with a laughter.
“Want some boba tea or something?” Gerard proposed.
“Yeah, why not,” she agreed.
Tumblr media
They spent almost the whole day at the pier.
Gerard turned out to be a pleasant young man, intelligent and empathetic.
At some point, Lana felt comfortable enough to share her troubling thoughts—the reason she was there that day.
She told him how she missed her friends, her doubts about their friendship, and her worries that neither Jay nor Cliff seemed keen to talk to her. Did they miss her? Did that stupid kiss ruin their friendship? Was their friendship as strong as she thought it was?
Gerard listened carefully and supported her, offering his advice as an outsider to the situation: “If you miss them and want answers to all your questions, just ask them, Lana. Talk with them once and for all and see what happens.”
“But what if they don’t want to be friends with me anymore? I’m scared of the outcome and afraid I’ll regret it if I lose them,” Lana started, but Gerard quickly interrupted her.
“You will definitely regret it more if you never try. You’re not in touch with them anyway, so what do you have to lose?”
This started to make perfect sense. Lana was now determined to speak with them and figure out the situation once and for all. She wanted her friends back.
Tumblr media
It was already dark outside by the time she realized how much time had passed. Gerard walked her home.
“Thank you for today and for your support; I needed it. See you at school?” Lana said as she walked back into her house.
"Sure, the pleasure was mine," Gerard replied politely, smiling.

One Little Thing
Sequel to One is the Loneliest Number, One on One
Warnings: none, Professor Steve (that’s a warning in itself)
Dunno if I’ll be doing an exhaustive drabble series but there’s at least this. Let me know if you’re enjoying it or not and any thoughts you have. Love you!
Tumblr media
You and Inez venture down to Marge’s after Grammar class. You sit near the window, a table over from where you and Steve– Professor Rogers had been. As you sit, a cherry lime parfait tea before you, you inhale the scent eagerly. You had to come back to finally get a taste.
“You came here without me? You promised–” Inez accuses as she stirs her Irish Cream.
“I know, I’m sorry,” you cradle your cheeks guiltily, “I wasn’t thinking.”
“No, I’m just teasing,” she smiles, “they have so many flavours. We probably won’t even get through them all by the end of term.”
“Oh, well, depends, with Professor Laufeyson, we might need a few extra study sessions.”
“Why did we take history?” She sighs, “I hate it.”
“Stupid, why do we need all these electives to learn about Lit?” You roll your eyes.
“Ugh, I know, did you know we have to take statistics in second year?”
“What the heck?” You furrow your brow, “I’m so bad at math.”
“Why did we decide to go to uni?” She kids as a coat brushes against her shoulder.
“Excuse me,” the deep voice pardons as he pulls back the fabric.
You glance up at the dark-haired man as he passes close between the tables. You recognise him as a professor but you don’t know him. The man behind him is more familiar as he catches your eye.
“Hey,” Professor Rogers gives a small wave as he strides by.
“Hi, Professor,” you smile and lift your cup.
As you take a dainty sip, careful not to burn yourself, Inez scoffs and tilts her head at you, “hello to you too, professor. Damn. He didn’t even see me.”
“What?” You gulp, “I– maybe he didn’t recognise you?”
“Oh yes, me, the girl with the magenta hair, so ordinary,” she snorts, “girl, is there something… going on?”
“What? Going on?”
“With you and Professor Buff Body?” She leans over the table as she lowers his voice, “I mean, I don’t blame you but I can’t say I’m not surprised.”
“What? No, he just said hello.”
“Sure,” she squints at you, “but he had that tone, like,” she sits back and puts a hand to a chest, waving coyly with her other as she deepens her voice, “hey.”
“He’s our professor,” you say curtly, “Inez, please.”
Your cheeks burn and you shake your head at your cup. She snickers and curves her palm against her own.
“I’m kidding,” she says, “it was just… funny. Seriously. He’s friendly but usually, you know, it’s that hard ass sort of friendly. I don’t know about you but I’m scraping barely a seventy in classic lit.”
“Oh, uh, well, I went to book club, maybe that’s it,” you shrug, “I thought you were coming?”
“What are you talking about? It was canceled.”
“Canceled?”
“Uh, yeah, didn’t you get the email. Rescheduled for this week.”
“But I…” you stop yourself as your thoughts flurry.
You put your fingertips to your lip and hum as you think. Steve, or Professor Rogers, had been so disappointed but why would he lie? You’re confused. You look over your shoulder as the two professors sit in the corner by the book shelf, taking up the two leather chairs there. You’ll just have to ask him. You’re sure there’s something missing.
“Yeah, makes sense, must be why I was the only one to show up,” you hit your forehead dramatically.
“Oh, that’s so you,” she laughs, “you’re lucky I scooped you up at orientation or you’d be completely hopeless.”
“Hey,” you chide, though you can’t say she’s wrong.
“You know I’m just teasing,” she winks at you, “have you tried the pastries? I’m kinda feelin’ snackish.”
“No, I… had a cake pop. It was pretty good,” you offer as you cup your chin.
“Mmm, that sounds even better,” she turns in her chair to peruse the display from a distance, “oh, shut up, they have cheesecake, that’s it, I’m doing it.” She stands and pauses, “you want a piece? My treat?”
“No, I’m fine,” you answer, “I had that muffin in class.”
“Oh yes, with that loud ass wrapper,” she chortles, “pretty sure Laufeyson was about to come snatch it from you himself.”
“Ugh, I’m gonna fail,” you whine, “go, get your cheesecake.”
As she joins the short queue, you turn back to the table and take out your notebook. You flip it open to the day’s notes and review all the rules you went over. Why does English have to be such a complicated language?
You sift through your bag for a pen and shove it back under your chair. You fix a few missing words here and there as the buzzing cafe fades into the background. You give a start as you feel a light tap on your shoulder.
“You dropped this,” Steve, Professor Rogers, places the bookmark with the dangling tassel beside your notebook.
“Oh, thanks, Professor,” you pick it up and flip it over as you play with the braided string.
“I gotta thank you for showing me this place,” he says, “brought my buddy here to try it. Couldn’t sit in the office any longer.”
“Oh, yeah,” you turn in your chair to look over at the other professor, his thumb skittering over his phone, “does he teach English too?”
“History,” he corrects you, “I know, boring old men. But uh, I guess I just wanted to check in.”
“That’s so nice, uh,” you reach to rub the side of your neck, “erm, Professor can I ask you something?”
“Sure,” he watches you intently.
“Did you cancel book club last week?”
“What?”
“Inez said you sent an email but I don’t remember seeing it, so…”
“Oh, uh, that was after, you know, er, tryna play it off, you know?” He chuckles nervously as he spreads his hand across his chest and drags it down, “saving face, right? Didn’t want anyone to know it flopped.”
“Oh, oh, I guess that makes sense. Sorry I asked, I was just… confused.”
“Wednesday,” he declares as he taps two fingers on the table, “same time. Hopefully we get a few more bodies this time.”
“Sounds good,” you say, “thanks again, professor.”
“Anytime,” he smiles, lingering just a moment before dragging his hand away, “see ya in class.”
As you’re left alone, Inez comes back and puts down a slice of cheesecake before her. You glance up from your notes as she twirls the fork in excitement. She stops herself before she can stab the tines into the soft dessert, “so, you sure there isn’t anything going on with Dr. Blondie?”
“I was asking about book club,” you sigh, “jeez.”
“Uh huh,” she sinks the plastic into the cake, “start student, over here, I tell you.”

📚 Cg! Clay HCS!!! 💚🎶
Aggagaggaggag first hc list I do EVERRR (so please be kind (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) /💗💗)
Cg! Clay x Agere! Reader!!
pretty much gender neutral!!
Cw: caps lock (just me having happy outbursts), um lotsa author notes and commentary I just wanna talk about him and about how he would be as a cg :ccc, also this is incredibly self indulgent
Also there was no proof reading ☠️
(Crossposted on ao3 @Soft_Buzz!! oh and I’ll update this if I get a new hc idea)
Tumblr media
Anyways here you go 💚:
•nicknames for you: kiddo, baby, bubba, bubba wubba (he’s squeezing your cheeks and baby talking you 😭😭), prince/princess/ lil highness/royal, and a number of other sweet nicknames or any that you prefer!
•he would be suuuuuch a sweet and doting caregiver waaaaaaah but he would definitely ensue rules for you! Calm and Strict(ish) cg! Clay would pull up to make sure you are safe and healthy even if you are feeling big!!
•he’d hate to see you hurt or sick, but he’d do everything thing in his power to nurse you back to health :]!
•Clay would definitely provide his kiddo with healthy snack or with fruit or veggie cups!
•Although Clay’s sorta strict he can be soooo soft he always want to hold you, whether it’s your hand/pinkie or cuddle up with you.
•You are his battery and he wants to recharge.
* HE WOULD SOOOO READ TO YOUUUU AHHH he loooooves reading so ofc he’d love to share that interest with his little one
• (please it’s the cutest thing ever)
• imagine him beside you with a book open (he has his reading glasses on :3) and as he reads, he gives all the different characters different voices and will always put emotion into his reading voice, which always leads to you giggling or you gasping in surprise.
• One time you insisted that you were big enough for his sad book club and that you wouldn’t become a big puddle of tears so he gave you Charlotte’s Web to read.
• You were a mess. You didn’t stop being sad for the next couple of HOURS (yes this is a reference to that JD fan art ifykyk☠️)
• Clay had to give you so many hugs, cuddles, and kisses to make up for it. He thought it’d be funny, but he sorta forgot how emotional of a little one you can be.
• “I’m so so sorry baby.” *kiss* “How can I make it up to you?? I’ll do anything”
• oh you’d grin a that. You choose to either do dress up WITH make up or draw on his face and mess around with his hair. AND ice cream.
• You took soooo many pictures (and you may or may have not shared them with Viva, Poppy, and his brothers) Clay says he hates you for it, but secretly believes it was so worth it to see that sparkle in your eyes
• he bought you a piggy and a spider (with little bb spiders) stuffie. Even if you have arachnophobia, you hugged those stuffies while crying happy tears. You gave him a tight hug which he softly returned and gave you a forehead kiss.
• (This whole event was also the birth of your happy scrapbook club!! (even though it just you :} ) )
• You and Clay will just sit together while reading different things. Him with some well recognized and praised novel or book and you with a happy lil scrapbook in your hands!
• I’d also like to think he has a puppet character like Bandit does with unicorse! (Maybe a dragon but that just me :])
• (Clay and Branch be matching with their ventriloquism skills lol)
• If you seem to be clumsy or fall often he starts to develop a sort of spider sense for it and will catch you before disaster happens
• OKOK I know this is gonna sound random buuuut I believe Clay is the type to carry lollipops, and sometimes other candy, around. Idk like I can just picture him a with a lollipop in his mouth trying to look all serious/mysterious and nonchalant LOL
• ANYWAYS back to the Agere stuff
• I think that after completing a task or being good, Clay would def give his kiddo a lollipop as a treat!! that orrrrr if his kiddo seems to be regressing in public and they really want/need a paci or just something to fixate on then boom!!! Lollipop! :D
• Talking about rewards
• This man would sooooo spoil you!! you’re his treasure and he wants you to know it!!
• He’ll either get you food you’ve been craving or a stuffed animal/little gear orrrr both!!
• (Because of the two of you, you now have a chest fuuuull of stuffies Woops💧)
• You always try to show your appreciation by giving him small handmade gifts!! A lil pop up card, bead bracelets (you definitely have matching bracelets), even something crocheted/knitted, and pretty much any arts n crafts you can make!
• Now onto funny business ( •̀ - • )!
• so ofc when it first came to having fun and being playful with you he was bit scared
• can you blame him???
• He’d spent A LOT of time trying to get rid/away from the tittle of being the fun boy
• Ofc through lot of reassurance you let him know that he can have fun and play with you and still be a very serious caregiver!
• you help him understand that being funny and silly every once in a while doesn’t hurt and that he should try to find a balance that work for him! Which he eventually does :D!!
• I like to believe that he’d be great at playing pretend and hide and seek!
• “Worry not your highness!! You will protect you from the dragon!” (It’s one of your plushies)
• “Wherever could my kiddo be?? They must have turned invisible!!” (he can hear your giggles which just makes his smile wider)
• Although he really tries to be there for you, he’s a reaaaally busy man :((( but he still tries to spend time with you through parallel play! While he’s doing his grown up paperwork, you get to colooor!! (or draw or scrapbook or anything really) as long you promise to be good and not distract him
• (plus the sooner he’s done the sooner he can give you all his attention! so it’s a win-win situation :D)
• Actually if you were feeling extra lil you’d just get a paper and scribble on it with crayon trying to copy Clay’s mannerisms (when he sees this he’s physically holding himself back from just picking you up, cradling you, and just babying you waaaah you’re gonna be the end of him)
• oh and he would sooo keep your little artworks in his working area (they bring a sweet smile to his face and warm his soul you’re the best kiddo he could have ever asked for)
• You also get to have cuddles while he works! Sometimes he’ll just sit you on his lap with a stuffie or two while he wraps an arm around you and litters your head or face with kisses!
• Now onto not so funny business ૮๑ˊᯅˋ๑ა
• sometimes Clay’ll have a rough or tiring day :((
* and that’s okk caregivers have their moments too!
• He’ll usually want to cuddle with you and hold you close. (You are his stuffie :D)
• He might even tickle you or blow raspberries on your tummy (if you give him permission ofc!!) which often leaves you with a giggling and squirming fit.
• He just loves seeing you laugh and smile (especially if it’s him who made you happy :] you just brighten his day so much sometimes)
• One time he was just so tired and just laying down on the couch and then you brought one stuffie to him and then two till you pretty much had him buried under almost all of your stuffies!!
* You then proceeded to lay on top of him, and Clay just sticks both arms out from under the pile while smiling softly with his eyes closed.
• Let’s just say you guys woke up with stuffed animals scattered eeeeeverywhere
• If you’re a kiddo/baby who tends to get overwhelmed easily, he’ll get you some noise canceling/dampening headphones and just wraps you in a soft blanket like a little burrito.
• He’ll also either get you an eye mask or will lower the lights if he can. (And if you’re feeling lil enough then a paci too!!)
• After doing any of this, he’ll just bring you onto his lap and whisper sweet lil nothings to you till you feel better or seem to fall asleep :D!
• would enforce a bed time >:( (he is a very very veeeery serious guy after all)
• but luckily bedtime means a bottle or sippy of sweet sleepy tea and a storyyyy :D!!
• Forehead kisses!! (CALL ME BIASED CAUSE I LOOOOOVE FOREHEAD KISSES but I stand by what I say.
• Oh and if he’s ever gonna to be very busy for the day and he won’t be able to take care of his kiddo, he’d ask Viva to help him take care of you!!
• Plus who doesn’t love babysitter Viva??? She’s so energetic and fun with you, but she’ll definitely tone it down for you 💛
• she’s also super strong so she’ll definitely carry you or give you a piggy back ride if you ask :>!
• She also give you lots of candies and sugary foods but shhhhh don’t tell Clay itsa secret (but I think the sugar rush/crash you have when he picks you up from Viva’s tells him more than enough
• (I feel like he would trust all his brothers with you (especially Bruce) except JD 😭😭)
• He would sooooo grab your cheeks and squeeze them like he did to Branch when first seeing him again
• Expect him to do that whenever he just wants to dote on you and baby you even if you’re feeling bigger than usual he just loves youuuu! 💚💚💚
In summary: I need this man bc he is the bestest boyfriend and caregiver ever!!
Tumblr media

Got you under my spell
18+ !NSFW!
Day 13: Strip Tease
———————————————————-
It’s silly but Tashi really wants to do it for him, surprise him by wearing something other than sweats and a t-shirt for a change. It’s his birthday and he’s… he’s annoying sure… but he’s also cute and funny and stuff. And really good in bed… like the best she’s ever had, good. She doesn’t want to tell him that but annoyingly he kinda already knows.
She spends 3 hours doing her hair and her makeup. Something she never really does outside of special occasions and he shows up late. He can only stay for 24 hours because he’s got to fly to New York for his next tour stop. She’s all dressed up for him… and he shows up late.
“This is different,” he smiles after she checks him into the dorm. He smells like cigarette smoke.
“Did you know it’s almost midnight?” She asks.
“Yeah… I’m sorry. I was talking to these guys,” he gestures vaguely. “Oh and Art says hi.”
“You saw Art? I thought you said you’d see him tomorrow.”
“Yeah… I was starving. We just met up for food.”
”I told you I ordered pizza,” Tashi says, irritated as they get in the elevator.
“Babe, come on, I wasn’t in the mood for pizza.”
“You coulda said that,” she says.
“Did I not text you back?”
“Yeah, just like you didn’t text me that you would be this late,” she mutters.
“Okay Im sorry. I’ll eat some tomorrow. It’s not that big a deal.” he says gently and he rubs her shoulders. “You look so pretty.”
She sorta melts a bit. “Do you like it?” She’s got her hair down and she’s dressed in a slinky black dress like she's about to go out to the club but she's wearing flip flops. She’s mostly thinking about what she's planning to do for him. At least now he won’t be in the middle of stuffing a slice of pizza down his throat.
“Yes, you’re fucking gorgeous,” He leans against her and kisses her.
“Happy birthday,” she says smiling against his lips.
“Fuck..is this for me? Is this my gift?” He asks, softly, teasing his fingers through her hair.
”I mean it’s one part.” She says and she leads him off the elevator towards her room.
She feels him following her closely now. He presses up against her ass, kissing her neck as she’s unlocking her bedroom door. He's already hard. She bites her lip, all the frustration with his timing becoming less and less important.
She’s cleaned everything up as much as possible. She’s put a scarf over the light to dim it just a bit and she’s playing music. She wanted to make it romantic but it doesn’t seem like he really notices. She puts the pizza in the fridge since it was a waste to order it anyway. He drops his duffle on the floor in the corner where he always leaves it and puts his tennis bag on top.
“You got condoms right?” He asks, coming back over to her, “Cause I’m out so unless you got back on the pill—“
“Patrick come on… I was trying to make it special,” she says, feeling irritated again.
“Yeah? What— you want to sing for me or something?” he teases, cradling her face. She feels a little silly now.
“Never mind,” she snaps.
“Tashi, come on, I’m joking,” Patrick grins and kisses her again. “That tastes so good,” he says gently. “What is that?”
“Lip gloss, I was gonna do a fucking strip tease or something for you but whatever. Just mess up my makeup.”
”A strip tease?” he says, smirking.
“Fuck off,” She says, shoving him away from her.
“No I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Do it. I wanna watch.”
”No it’s stupid,” she mutters.
“No it isn’t. Come on, I want to watch you strip,” he says as he walks over to her bed and sits down.
She didn’t expect any of it to go like this. He’s sitting on the bed looking at her expectantly. “Never mind,” she says, feeling awkward all of a sudden.
“Please, it’s my birthday,” he says, smiling. “You kinda have too.”
“No you…” she sighs and then decides against picking a fight. She goes to her iPod. Her friend nicknamed it the sex playlist when they sat in her room putting it together. She scrolls to the Birthday Song by 50 cent and lets it play. He laughs and she almost stops again, but he pulls her closer to him on the bed.
She eases the straps of her dress down while he’s looking up at her, she’s trying to be sexy but she feels like an amateur. She bought this fancy lacy bra and panties set from Victoria’s Secret. She’s never even worn it before today. His eyes are falling over her as she shimmies the dress slowly down her body. It falls in a pool on the floor and she plays with the strapless bra. She wishes there was a sexy way to unclasp a bra strap but she pinches it and then holds it up on her boobs with her hands before slowly pulling it off and dropping it on his lap.
“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he sighs, grabbing her waist.
She straddles him and he helps her pull his sweatshirt off. He touches her breasts, licks at one of her nipples as she undoes the buttons on his jeans. The teasing has kinda fallen by the wayside. She doesn’t fault him because she wants it just as bad. It’s been a whole month since she’s last been with him and all the late night phone sex in the world can’t make up for what it feels like in real life. He lifts her up just a moment to get his pants off properly. Any time just casually lifts her is a turn on. She palms his dick through his boxers.
“I’ve been thinking about this all day,” he sighs against her, taking a break from sucking and nibbling at her nipples.
“Yeah,” she agrees. She lets him take her panties down. He’s gonna try to take them with him. She already knows not to bother looking for them when they’re done. She gets a condom from her night stand and waits for him impatiently as he bites it open and pulls it on. Then he pushes inside of her and she rides him. The iPod is on shuffle but she doesn’t even need the music. Just the sound of him breathing and whispering in her ear would’ve been enough.
She doesn’t keep track of how many times he makes her come but it’s enough that she shivers to think about how caught up she feels. He leaves to go take the condom off and use the bathroom and she turns off the music and the overhead light. She pulls on his sweatshirt, just because… because it smells like him, fuck. Her stomach hurts.
She pulls on a clean pair of panties and ties up her hair to sleep. He comes out of the bathroom, butt naked and grins when he sees her.
“What?” She laughs.
“Nothing, it looks good on you. Like everything.” He pulls his boxers back on and she reaches for him. He gets on the single bed next to her and wraps his arms around her.
“Why were you out of condoms anyway?” She asks trying to sound casual.
“You don’t remember how many times we fucked last month do you? Remember, I was here all weekend.”
She sighs. “You didn’t buy anymore?”
“What’s the point? I’m not fucking anyone. I’m just miserable in bed every night thinking about you. Now I’ll imagine you in your little black dress.” He says squeezing her playfully. She smiles linking his fingers with hers.
“I got you a real gift too, don’t worry,” she says softly.
“Fuck, you got me something else?”
“Yeah, you can open it tomorrow.”
He kisses her on the neck, “I think this is the best birthday I’ve ever had.”
She smiles to herself thinking about what she can do for him next year. God, she’s so fucking gone…it’s pathetic. But its fine… as long as he doesn’t know… as long as she’s not accidentally the first one to say it… it’s okay. She curls up in his arms and drifts off to sleep.

I haven’t read Hideaway in a while, but is it ever told how Kai’s father felt about his arrest? If it’s possible (no pressure luv) can you expand on their relationship, I’m just in love with their dynamic 😔
I would love to talk about Kai’s relationship with his father! I’ll admit, it’s also been a while since I read Hideaway in its entirety and the last time that I read it, I only read Banks’ chapters. So, I’m mostly talking about my assumptions. As always, I’ll try to bring up references.
Tumblr media
Early on, Kai reveals that he resents his father. It’s hard to understand why, at first. By all accounts, including Kai’s, his father is a patient man. He doesn’t yell or expect Kai to fall in line with his decisions. In fact, all he wants is for Kai (and his friends) to be better. It seems his only crime is wanting them to make good decisions. The horror, the burden.
As a teenager, Kai knows his father is aware of the things he and his friends get up to, especially on Devil’s Night. Yet, Katsu doesn’t prevent him from making this choice. Kai also knows that his decisions disappoint his father, but he has no intention of stopping.
Tumblr media
If you’d ask Kai, he’d probably say that he doesn’t have much of anything in common with his father. Still, Kai has a tremendous amount of respect for Katsu. He speaks highly of him; he’s a young father in good shape, and nothing like the fathers of his friends, who he finds deplorable in nature.
Tumblr media
After his release from prison, Kai feels the weight of Katsu’s disappointment more than ever. It’s compounded with his own. He really has problems processing what he went through; he came from a good home, with a solid upbringing. How did he end up in prison next to murderers? How did he end up nearly killing someone? How did his life get away from him?
Tumblr media
The disappointment hounds him every waking moment. It builds in him, and by the start of Hideaway, all he wants is to prove himself; to prove that he’s not wasted what’s been handed to him. He still can’t look his father in the eye.
Tumblr media
So he tries to make the right choices; to be the good son.
He has a college degree – it’s not enough.
He buys a home – it’s not enough.
He builds a dojo – it’s not enough.
Tumblr media
Nothing is enough to please his father.
And then comes Banks. She gives him a place to direct that hunger. Suddenly, he can do anything… if it’s for her. Nothing is off limits. It doesn’t matter that the girl he wants wasn’t valedictorian, or class president, or a member of chess club (sorry, I don’t actually remember Chole all that well, but you get the point), or Gabriel Torrance's daughter. It doesn’t matter that Banks isn’t the girl his father would approve of.
Like how he was before prison, Kai wants to make his father happy, but not at the expense of himself. His father will be disappointed, but that matters less than him getting Banks.
Tumblr media
However…Kai doesn’t see his father quite as clearly as he thinks he does.
That whole year of trying to be the son his father could be proud of; trying to erase the damage he'd done, so he could look his father in the eye. None of that was because of Katsu. It was his own self Kai couldn't face.
Tumblr media
(I originally highlighted this because it's yet another way Kai makes sure to point out how he's less than his father, but now thinking about it, the piece of art that Rika says looks like him, is a figure without a face, strokes going outside the lines. Kai is a mystery to most people, and a rule breaker to those who do know him, which is probably what Rika was thinking. But in HA specifically, he's lost himself. He's faceless, not knowing where he's going, and I thought it was funny.)
But that doesn't answer your question. Your question was how did Katsu feel about Kai’s arrest? It’s never told in the narrative. But there is a letter floating about out there on the web, written by Katsu, to his wife Tori a little while after Madden was born. And through that, we get some insight into how Katsu really feels about his son.
Tumblr media
He talks about how he and Tori met, how he stole her away from her life because he loved how strong and thoughtful she was. And in this, he admits that Kai is more like him than he thinks.
But it's not just in stealing the girl. They both blamed themselves for Kai's faults.
Tumblr media
He compares the love between Kai and Nikova to his and his wife's - which, in the series, is the strongest marriage we're ever given insight into (the Grayson's have a good life, we never even meet Will's parents, so it's a moot point).
Kai thinks that Katsu is disappointed, and that he didn't live up to his father's expectations. He doesn't have the right kind of woman, or the right kind of friends. He didn't make the right choices.
The reality is that Katsu loves his son so much, Kai could never comprehend it. He's so proud of what Kai has accomplished.
Tumblr media
I don't know if I've covered they're dynamic well enough. What I do know, is that these men do not open up to each other. They mainly talk to through Kai's mother, who seems to have a tap on both of their emotional and mental states. However, both Kai and his father are extremely proud of each other. Kai holds his father above all others, and Katsu thinks the world of Kai.
It didn't really fit in here, but I especially thought this was noteworthy:
Tumblr media
When Damon burns the dojo down, Kai thinks about everything that's lost, but specifically about the weapon's his father donated. And I thought how sad that his father can put such faith in him, donate such important items, and Kai still doesn't see his approval.
Kai's always been blind to how deeply his father loves him.
Thanks for the ask! Hope this answered your question. As I mentioned, I'm not wholly familiar with Hideaway or Kai's character as I am with NF, so if any KaiBanks enthusiasts want to add to this, please feel free. All comments welcomed.

❀・・・❀・・・❀・・・❀・・・❀・・・❀・・・❀
Hawkins High School was nothing if not predictable.
When movies and TV portrayed what it was like to be a teenager, you were sure they’d gotten their ideas straight from your school. Sports were everything, the popular cheerleaders dated the star athletes, the weird kids were outcast from the rest, and you were just...there.
You weren’t a particularly gifted student, nor were you fairly well-known, and you certainly weren’t athletic. To be honest, you only had one friend. You met your best friend in elementary school, her being on your bus route just one stop before yours.
Chrissy Cunningham was everything you weren’t, but she still kept you around. If it weren’t for the fact that you lived so close and were able to create such a strong bond at an early age, you honestly would have thought she just stayed because she felt sorry for you.
But that wasn’t who Chrissy was.
Chrissy was a fiercely loyal friend, and that only grew once you entered high school. She made the cheer squad freshman year – becoming popular pretty much right away – but she never let it come between her friendship with you. Upon entering your senior year, Chrissy became cheer captain and subsequently caught the attention of everyone in school.
And that included Eddie Munson.
Eddie had always been a character, often interrupting lunches with passionate speeches about the popular crowds and how they excluded anyone different than them. You knew he had a club that met after school, though you didn’t know much other than it was about Dungeons & Dragons. You always had a bit of a crush on him – sure, he could be obnoxious and he was on his third try of making it to graduation, but he was friendly and cute and had no problem talking back to people like Jason Carver.
You wish you could say you were surprised when Chrissy started offhandedly mentioning that she’d been hanging out with Eddie every once in a while. You would listen to her talk about something funny he did or said, plastering on the fake interest as she spoke.
Yeah, you were jealous.
But you knew you had no right to be.
Chrissy had no idea you had a crush, and you knew her relationship with Jason only continued to please her overbearing mother, so you wanted nothing more than for her to finally be happy for once.
But that didn’t mean it didn’t sting whenever she mentioned seeing him.
“Hey, I’ll be right back,” Chrissy told you after setting her lunch tray down at the spot across from you, “I have to go talk to Eddie about something.”
You barely nodded, but it didn’t matter since she didn’t even look at you before trotting toward the Hellfire table. You kept your gaze on your lunch tray as your best friend’s voice rang through your ears again.
“Eds!” she chirped, “Do you have a second?”
“Chris!” he smiled back, “What’s up?”
Oh, that’s cute. They have nicknames for each other.
You listened to their voices fade out as they walked to somewhere less crowded, Eddie insisting to get some privacy.
Way to go with the subtlety there, guys.
You knew you shouldn’t be this hurt over it – Chrissy was way more outgoing than you, so it was never shocking when someone gravitated to her over you – but you still were. Sure, she was your best friend and she made sure to include you in everything she was a part of, but you just...
You wanted someone to see you as your own person, not just ‘Chrissy’s best friend’.
~
Sunday afternoon
You’d spent that weekend the same as you always did: alone in your room keeping yourself busy with whatever you could until it came time for your weekly hangout with your best friend. You and Chrissy had hung out every Sunday practically since the day you met. Your mom always offered her own to stay and chat, but she never did; Her mother was more than happy to pawn her daughter on anyone willing to watch her. Your mom became more of a mother to Chrissy than her own – maybe that was why she stayed at your place as often as she was allowed.
You had just eaten lunch with your mom and Chrissy and played a few board games as well – you knew Chrissy appreciated the feeling of normalcy it gave her – before you ended up back in your bedroom. She was laying on your bed watching TV, propped up against the wall behind it, while you were sitting on the floor. Your most recent endeavor to keep yourself occupied, you decided, would be learning how to take in clothing too big and repurpose clothing that didn’t fit anymore into things you’d actually use. And lucky for you, Chrissy didn’t mind – you could gossip no matter what you were doing.
“You didn’t hang out with Jason today?” you mentioned after noticing her show had gone to a commercial, “I thought he said he was taking you to Lover’s Lake?”
“Of course not!” she insisted, “Sundays are for us! And you know how I feel about him.”
“I still don’t understand why you’re still with him,” you shook your head, “It’s like he’s gotten so much more oblivious to anything other than his popularity recently. Does he even notice when it’s one of the bad days again?”
“No,” she sighed, “But you know how my mom would be if she found out I broke up with him.”
“As if you don’t already get perfect grades, are the most popular girl at school, and all the teachers love you?” you rolled your eyes, “I hardly think not dating such an ass anymore would change all that.” You smiled slightly when she giggled.
“You know what? Enough about me!” she bounced in her seat, “What’s been going on with you? I feel like I never see you anymore!”
“Nothing new,” you shrugged, “Just trying to get at least one scholarship before graduation.”
“Oh, please! You could get those scholarships in your sleep!” You smiled slightly as she continued. “But that’s not what I meant! I mean, what’s been going on in your love life?”
“What love life?” you scoffed jokingly, “You know better than anyone that guys don’t even look at me.”
“That’s not true! What about Trevor? He told me he thought you were cute! You even went on a date with him!”
“Yeah, but we didn’t end up connecting as much as we thought we would,” you shrugged, “Decided we’re better as friends than a couple. I’m just glad he wasn’t a dick about it.”
“I knew he wouldn’t be,” she said, “That’s the only reason I set you up with him. There’s gotta be someone you’re into though?” Chrissy watched you pause, making her suck in a breath of excitement. “There is someone you’re into!” she squealed, “Why haven’t you told me?! I wanna know everything! Who is it?”
“Well... He’s in our grade,” you chose your wording carefully to not give it away, “He’s in a club and a band. We’ve been to his shows a couple of times. He’s really nice, but...”
“Is he not nice to you?” she narrowed her eyes at the idea this mystery crush of yours would be rude to you.
“It’s not that, it’s just... He likes someone else...” you whispered, “But I wasn’t surprised he likes someone else more; Everybody likes you more.”
“What do you mean?” she seemed genuinely confused, “Who likes me more?”
You didn’t respond, making Chrissy furrow her eyebrows. She took a moment to think about when you started acting a little differently when it came to boys, earning another gasp of realization.
“Are you talking about Eddie?” she asked, taking your small gulp as confirmation that she was right. “Y/N, you know I would never do that to you!” she assured you, “Oh my God, I would be the worst best friend ever if I went after someone you liked!” You looked up at her with confusion, making her smile. “You didn’t have to tell me for me to know,” she shook her head, “You’re my best friend; I know you better than I know myself.” Chrissy sighed softly, moving to the floor so she could take your hand in hers and squeeze it lightly. “I’ve been meeting Eddie so much because I’ve... I buy weed from him sometimes,” she finally confessed.
“You what?” your eyes widened, “Since when do you smoke weed?!”
“I’ve been... I see things sometimes... Hallucinations, I think,” she admitted, “And I know Eddie deals, so I thought it would help.”
“You’ve been seeing things?” you repeated, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I thought it was just the depression – that it was just something I would have to live with for the rest of my life... I didn’t want to drag you into all that.”
“Chrissy, you’re my best friend,” you repeated her earlier sentiment, giving her own hand a tight squeeze, “Your problems are my problems and mine are yours; We get through it together no matter what.” She gave you a small, tight-lipped smile. You knew she was still holding back, but you also knew that she’d come to you when she was ready.
But neither of you would ever get to have that conversation.
~
One week later; Wednesday
You felt like you weren’t actually in your body anymore. Everything felt foreign and fake and otherworldly. The school felt out of it and it felt like the students were just blips in the universe. People tried to talk to you – offer their condolences – but their voices were all muffled in your ears.
Chrissy was dead; Your best friend was gone.
You’d attended the funeral the previous day – and if you thought the amount of people at school looking at you in pity was bad, you would have prepared better for the service. You humored Jason when he offered his condolences, giving him your own as well – despite how pompous and two-faced you thought he was, he still lost his girlfriend and you weren’t going to be a bitch to him.
You made it through the funeral service and burial before going back home. Your mother tried her best to lift your spirits, but you knew she was having just as hard a time with everything as you were – Chrissy was like a second daughter to her, after all.
You heard about a meeting at the town hall that would take place the day after to discuss those killed recently. You thought it would be a gathering to remember everyone – Chrissy, Fred, Patrick – so you decided to go. Your mother had wanted to attend as well, but you insisted she rest instead. The events of the past week had taken a major toll on her and she looked like she hadn’t slept in days – and honestly, she probably hadn’t. You promised to tell her everything that happened, and she walked you to the front door as you put on your jacket, kissing your head before you left.
And, to be fair, the meeting did start out as remembering the deceased.
Until Jason showed up, that is.
After those who wished to speak offered up memories, the police chief started to speak. He was giving an update on the investigation, and you could feel your blood run cold when he mentioned that they did have a suspect and were looking for information leading to his whereabouts so they could talk to him. But before he could give a name, he was interrupted by Jason.
“With all due respect, Chief Powell, I think it’s obvious who’s responsible,” Jason stated, “That freak Eddie Munson and his Hellfire cult murdered a popular girl as a sacrifice to Satan! It’s about time we band together and rid this town of him for good!”
“Now, son,” the Chief shook his head with a firm tone in his voice, “We only want to talk to Mr. Munson as of right now; We can’t just go around accusing people of something as serious as murder.”
“Don’t you all get it?” he looked around the room, “These satanic cults that are spreading around the country say they’re playing ‘some silly roleplaying game’ when they’re really planning rituals for human sacrifice! That's what the mall fire was really about! That’s why so many people are dead! It’s because of Hellfire!”
“That’s bullshit!” you looked over to see Erica Sinclair practically seething with anger, “The Hellfire isn’t a cult! It’s a club for a bunch of nerds!”
“A club? A club! A harmless club – that’s what they want you to think! But it’s a lie to conceal the truth! And the truth is it’s a cult now protecting their leader! Hiding Eddie and allowing him to continue his sacrifices! We can stop him from killing any more! We must come together and cast the evil out of Hawkins that is Hellfire! We have to-”
“Shut up!” your voice broke as you stood up from your seat, making everyone stare at you in shock.
You were so sick of everyone pointing blame at Eddie – it didn’t matter that they didn’t have proof. You would have defended anyone under those circumstances, but them only choosing him because he’s an easy target made you even more upset.
“It’s bad enough you used Billy and Chief Hopper’s deaths at that pep rally to what, boost morale at a stupid basketball game?! They died in an accidental mall fire; They weren’t murdered in some sacrificial ritual!” you threw your arms up, “But now you wanna claim they were for what, getting justice?! None of you would have even given a shit if someone else died in any other way or if it were anyone but Chrissy, so why do you give a shit now?! You certainly wouldn’t have cared if it were some random student, and you would have celebrated if it were Eddie, so why the hell do you suddenly give a fuck?!”
“Am I hearing you defending that freak right now?” Jason narrowed his eyes at you, “Just because you were Chrissy’s best friend-”
“I am Chrissy’s best friend,” you snapped back, “So I think I know damn well she wouldn’t have wanted this witch hunt! Whether you like it or not, she was friends with Eddie, and she would be pissed at all of you for acting like a bunch of fucking assholes! She wouldn’t have even given him the time of day if she thought he was going to pull some satanic bullshit on her or whatever the fuck you’re bitching about!”
“You’re just as much of a freak as the rest of them,” he scoffed.
“And you’re just as much of the asshole Chrissy thought you were,” you growled, not giving him the chance to respond as you grabbed your jacket and left, letting the door slam behind you.
~
Eddie’s POV; The next day
“Eddie?!” Dustin called out as he and the gang approached Skull Rock.
“I am right here, Henderson,” he reminded him from his makeshift seat, “And I’m sure I will be here until the day I die.”
“You’re not gonna be in here that long,” Robin insisted, “We just have to come up with a plan is all.”
“Knowing all of you? I’ll be here until I die,” he rolled his eyes, earning the same gesture in return.
“Anyway,” Dustin spoke up again, “We brought you some food.” He handed him a bag and Eddie immediately took the contents out and started eating. “Oh!” he chirped, “You know how the town hall had a meeting to remember everyone last night?” Eddie simply nodded. “Well, Erica was there and said Jason came in and started laying it on thick about Hellfire and how we’re a cult and how we perform satanic sacrifices and that’s why everyone’s dying.”
“Is this supposed to make me feel better, Henderson?” Eddie rolled his eyes, “Am I supposed to be happy there’s a bounty on my head now?”
“No, man! Erica said someone stood up and told Jason to shut up and that he’s being an asshole for-”
“Language!” Steve reprimanded, earning a middle finger from the teen.
“Dude, she said it was so badass!” Dustin bounced around the dirt path, “The way Y/N didn’t back down when Jason tried to intimidate her for the way she was defending you was so sick! She just totally laid into Jason and his stupid friends and the people going along with it and she didn’t care what they thought!”
“Y/N?” Eddie felt his heart start racing, “She was defending me?”
“Yeah? Weren’t you listening?” he frowned, “Erica said she was a real badass! I wish we could have seen it!”
Dustin kept raving about Erica’s play-by-play of your performance, but Eddie wasn’t hearing it anymore.
Chrissy’s cute friend believed he was innocent?
~
Your POV; The next day
You weren’t at all shocked when you arrived at school the next day to glares and whispers behind your back. You knew Jason and his minions were going to make sure everyone knew what you’d done. When someone said something to you directly, you simply rolled your eyes and ignored them. Jason obviously would have spun the story to make you look even worse, so you didn’t want to waste your time trying to defend yourself with things you knew wouldn’t change their minds anyway.
On your way to lunch, you stopped by your locker to put away a textbook when you saw something poking out of the slot above the latch. You grabbed it and held it under your arm against your side as you opened your locker. You put the books away and reached back for the note. You wondered if maybe it was meant for someone else and they just had the wrong locker, but you knew by what was written in it that it was meant for you.
Meet at Hellfire after school
You stared at the sloppy handwriting for a moment before looking up and around the hall. No one was watching to make sure you received it, so you had absolutely no idea who had left you the note. You flipped the paper over – expecting to see contact info? – but instead found a messily-drawn map of where to find the club in the school’s basement.
~
Three hours later
The moment the final bell rang, you were hastily leaving the classroom and walking to your locker. You’d been internally arguing with yourself all day about whether or not you should listen to this mystery note – you had no idea who sent it or what they wanted or if it was just Jason and his friends trying to get you alone – before you finally defined to just go.
Whatever happened now couldn’t be worse than when you were told Chrissy died, could it?
You shoved all of your books into your locker, deciding to just get your backpack after you were done with whoever you were meeting. You slowly made your way to the stairwell to the basement, wanting to wait until the hallway had mostly cleared out.
Once it had, you went through the door and pulled the note out of your pocket. You followed the practically-illegible map as best as you could, occasionally looking up to make sure you were heading in what you assumed was the right direction.
You finally made it to a door with a piece of doodled-on notebook paper taped to it – drawings no doubt done by Eddie – with the words ‘HELLFIRE CLUB MEMBERS ONLY’ scrawled on it. You opened the door, making the chatter in the room cease as soon as the knob moved.
You came face-to-face with a small group of people – okay, one of them is definitely too old to be in school, right? – stepping back in surprise. It was silent for a moment – the tall man looking at the curly-haired boy incredulously – before someone spoke.
“Y/N!” the boy with curly hair exclaimed before looking at the group smugly, “I told you she’d come!”
“Uh... What’s going on...?” you asked.
The boy – Dustin – then finally introduced everyone to you. You recognized him from the Hellfire table, Max from a couple of your classes, you were pretty sure Robin was in the marching band, and you could have sworn Steve graduated the previous year. You had no idea what was going on – you were only expecting to see one person in here, not four.
“I stole Eddie’s key to the room,” Dustin explained as if he could hear what was going on inside your head, “We need to talk to you.”
“About...?” you trailed off, finally looking around the room.
You could see the Dungeons & Dragons game set up on a table in front of a prop throne with seven other chairs around it. There wasn’t much going on besides the mess of other props strewn about the storage room, but one thing did catch your eye.
Sitting on top of the table was a crumpled-up wanted poster with Eddie’s face on it, a bunch of satanic scribblings all over his face. Next to it, pictures of all the people who had been killed so far – Chrissy, Fred, Patrick, Billy, Chief Hopper, and a few others you didn’t recognize – and you knew what this was really about.
“You know what? I already had this argument with Jason; I’m not interested in another one,” you stated bluntly, turning to leave.
“Steve!” Dustin huffed, prompting him to groan loudly and rush over to you. Steve grabbed your arm and pulled you further into the room, despite how hard you were trying to free yourself.
“Hey!” you started yelling, hitting his forearms as he wrapped them around your waist to keep you there, “Let go of me!”
“Henderson!” he grunted as he struggled to keep you in place while you punched him, “You said she’d listen!”
“Y/N, come on! Just hear us out!” he begged, “We just wanna talk about Chri-”
“I don’t care!” your voice broke, trying – but failing – the keep the tears from falling down your cheeks, “I don’t want to talk about Chrissy! I don’t want to remember she’s gone! I don’t want to think about it anymore! I want to go ho-”
“Chrissy died because Eddie’s trailer is a portal to the Upside Down!” Dustin finally yelled.
Steve’s head snapped to glare at the teenager – he had been so reluctant to tell Eddie what was going on, but had no problem just springing it on you? – but he couldn’t ignore that it made you gradually start fighting back less. Your breathing stunted before picking right back up again, your back hitting his chest with every exhale.
“The what?” you whispered, slouching against the man behind you still holding your waist. Steve relaxed his body as well, slowly moving you to sit on the throne. He finally released his hold on you but remained seated behind you, giving you a weird sense of comfort.
The group started explaining the Mind Flayer and the Upside Down and the portals and Vecna and why those killed were targeted and how the Starcourt Mall fire hadn’t been some tragic accident and how their friend Eleven had powers and what had been going on the last three years, and you had no idea how to even respond.
You couldn’t believe all of this had been happening for three years and you had no idea about it. Sure, you’d heard about all the deaths in your tiny town, but you just assumed what the police were saying happened was true – you had no reason to believe otherwise.
Until it came to Chrissy’s death, of course.
You suspected something more was going on – that, despite being found in his trailer, everyone was just saying Eddie was responsible because it was easy. They already hated him for being different; This was just an actual reason now.
As if he could read your mind, Dustin finally brought you back to the real world.
“-and they all think Eddie did it, but he didn’t! It was all because of Vec-”
“I know,” you choked out, earning surprised looks from everyone.
“You know?” Max asked.
“Eddie could never ki-” you swallowed the word, still unable to talk about Chrissy without crying, “He wouldn’t do that...”
“Thank God,” Dustin breathed out sharply, “That makes convincing you to help a lot easier.”
“Help?” Steve finally spoke, “Henderson, she can’t- Stop dragging people into this!”
“But she’s the only one that can convince Eddie to stop hiding out at Skull Rock! And having one more person would just make it easier to defeat Vecna!”
“That’s not the point!” he insisted, “We’ve all been able to fight whatever monsters came up with just us before! Y/N doesn’t need to be brought into that now too! Eddie’s already been dragged into this by association, we don’t need-”
“I wanna help,” your soft plea cut Steve off, causing the group to look at you, “I wanna help Eddie.”
~
Eddie’s POV
Despite it being close to 5 PM, Eddie was finding it harder and harder not to fall asleep. He was starting to lose track of time being out in the woods for so long, but he was not about to return to a place where he was basically being hunted for sport.
Eddie began to doze off slightly again, only to be jolted awake by the sounds of twigs snapping and leaves crunching as footsteps got closer to his hideout. His body immediately tensed up, holding out the first weapon he could grab – a short, broken tree branch. He peeked around the rock before hopping out and yelling like a madman, only earning eye rolls in response.
“What are you gonna do with that, poke me to death?” Dustin asked, “Put it down; It’s just us.”
“Some warning would have been nice, Henderson,” Eddie dropped the stick, waving the walkie-talkie in his other hand to remind him of it.
“I left it at home,” he shrugged, making him roll his eyes as he sat down on a nearby boulder.
“We brought food again!” Robin chirped.
“It’s just what’s available from the vending machines outside Family Video,” Steve added, “But it’s something.” He tossed Eddie a bag of chips while Robin gave him a can of soda.
“Can we come up with a plan now?” Max interjected, “I’m getting tired of hiking up here.”
“I told you guys already,” Dustin insisted, “That’s why we brought Y/N!” Eddie’s gaze snapped to the teenager before he finally noticed someone new had joined the party.
You were trailing behind Nancy and Lucas, looking at your surroundings. When you finally stopped walking and your eyes met Eddie’s, he couldn’t help but feel sick. He knew you didn’t blame him or think he was guilty of Chrissy’s murder, but something about seeing her best friend made him want to find a new hiding spot – a spot the group would surely never think to look for him. You gulped and quickly looked away from him, nervously training your gaze on the nature around you.
The group started talking about how they were going to get into the Upside Down and get rid of Vecna once and for all. They were all coming up with ideas on how to kill him – how much easier it would be if they could just figure out how to get El her powers back – when Eddie looked over and spoke up.
“Hey, uh... Henderson’s not cursed, is he?” he asked, making everyone follow his gaze to find Dustin pacing around and staring off into the forest.
“Cursed? No, he’s fine,” Steve answered, “Mental? Absolutely.”
“BOOM!” Dustin’s sudden shout made everyone jump and snap to face him. He then pointed at Steve and smirked, “I was right. Skull Rock was north!” Eddie cocked an eyebrow when everyone else sighed and rolled their eyes, preparing themselves for the argument they’d been hearing for the past three days.
“Oh my Go- Are you serious?!” Steve threw his arms up, “This again?! This is Skull Rock! You’re totally, absolutely, 100% wrong!”
“Yes,” he smiled, “And no.”
“Oh my God,” Steve repeated, his hands on his face muffling his voice.
“This compass worked correctly when we left the school,” Dustin explained, “But it started to slip the further east we went. Now that we’re here, the thing is way off! Lucas, do you remember what can affect a compass?”
“An electromagnetic field!” he perked up, beginning to realize what his friend was saying.
“I’m sorry?” Robin cocked an eyebrow, “I must have skipped that class?”
“In the presence of a stronger electromagnetic field, the needle will deflect towards that power. So either there’s a super big magnet around here, or-”
“There’s a gate!” Lucas finished, making Dustin beam with joy.
“Now we know how to get to Vecna and release Max from his curse!” the teen exclaimed. Eddie noticed you look at the redhead with wide eyes – clearly no one had told you that one of them was currently dealing with what your best friend had been.
“But we’re nowhere near Hawkins Lab,” Nancy reminded him.
“All I know is this compass wouldn’t react if something wasn’t nearby,” Dustin said, “It’ll be small and not as powerful, but it’s still a way into the Upside Down. We just have to find it.” The teenager turned and began walking down the hill, but Steve stopped him.
“Where are you going? Hey, hey, hey!” he practically shouted, making Dustin come back to the group, “Eddie’s still a wanted man! We can’t just go for a hike in the woods like we’re on vacation in South America!”
“This little steel capsule-” He held up the compass. “-might be the key to saving both Max and Eddie,” he stated, “So what say you, Eddie the Banished?” Your eyebrow quirked at the nickname.
“I say you’re asking me to follow you into Mordor,” Eddie responded lowly, “Gotta be totally straight with you: that’s a really bad idea. But... The Shire is burning...” Dustin started jumping up and down excitedly, knowing he was going to agree. “So Mordor it is,” he finished, standing up from his makeshift seat.
You breathed out a laugh when you heard Steve mutter ‘What the hell is Mordor?’ to himself.
“Let’s split up!” the teen announced, “We’ll cover more ground that way and have less of a chance of getting caught before we find it. We’ll meet back here at sunset to see who found it. Lucas and Max, go toward the Creel house. Nancy and Robin can go west. Me and Steve will go south. And Y/N, you go with Eddie toward the train tracks!” Dustin put his hands on your back and pushed you toward him.
Your POV
Eddie grabbed your elbow when you yelped in surprise and lost your balance, glaring at the teen for nearly causing you to fall. You thanked him quietly as you fixed the hair that flew over your face, surprising him by following him into the forest without protest.
You jogged a little to keep up with his long strides, prompting him to shorten them so you could simply walk. Once the chatter of everyone else died down as they walked in their respective directions, you finally spoke to Eddie for the first time.
“So, uh... This is not how I expected this week to end,” you mentioned, making him laugh.
“I never expected to be on the run from police either,” he said. You let out a small breath of amusement, but your face still fell slightly.
Eddie watched you carefully, his mind racing with what he could possibly say about the loss of your best friend. But the only thing he could come up with was the events that led up to it.
“I really thought ‘86 was gonna be my year, you know?” he sighed, “I was finally gonna graduate and leave Hawkins behind and tour the world with my band. I started making friends outside of Hellfire – a cheerleader even wanted to talk to me...” He noticed you swallow thickly at the mention of Chrissy, but he couldn’t stop rambling. “That night... Chrissy came over to hang out. I left the room to get something and when I came back, it was like she was possessed or something. She wasn’t moving and was just staring at the wall. Then she started just...levitating...or some shit. She started bending all weird and blood was coming out of her eyes... And I begged and begged and begged her to wake up but she wouldn’t, so I... I did the only thing I know how to do...” he mumbled, looking down at the leaves in front of him, “I ran away. I left her there like a coward and hid in that stupid boat house and now Skull Rock and I let everyone believe it was my f-”
“I never believed it was your fault,” you whispered, making his head snap up to look at you. You sniffled as you stared at the ground, roughly swiping your fingertips underneath your eyes to get rid of the tears. “I was mad she was gone because she’s my best friend and the only person who ever really cared about me,” you continued quietly, “But I knew the second everyone started saying how she was found in your trailer that you didn’t do anything to her. I saw how you were with her at school; You liked her way too much to do something like that to her.”
“I didn’t like her,” Eddie told you, “I mean, I liked her as a person, but I didn’t like her. She was my only friend outside of Hellfire, but she... We only hung out because... She was...just...”
“Buying weed,” you finished his sentence with a small smile at the shock on his face, “She told me before she... About the hallucinations and how she was trying to get rid of them... Apparently didn’t work, but... I guess it’s pretty hard to get out of Vecna’s curse once you’re in.”
“You know about Vecna?”
“Dustin told me,” you nodded, “Said he thinks I can help somehow.”
“No,” the firmness in Eddie’s voice surprised you, making you look at him with furrowed brows, “You don’t need to be anywhere near this shit.”
“I obviously agreed to it, Eddie,” you reminded him with a shake of your head, “I want to help if it means saving Hawkins and preventing someone else from dying. I wanted- I want to help you...” You suppressed another onslaught of tears – not even noticing the slight blush he was now sporting – not wanting to cry in front of someone you just met for a second time. “He said I’m the only one that can convince you to stop hiding at that huge rock,” you continued.
“Henderson said that?” Eddie asked. You simply shrugged.
“I don’t know why it would make a difference for me to do it, but he says I have the best shot at it,” you nodded. You heard him sigh, turning your head to find him rubbing his face roughly. “You don’t have to, you know?” you mentioned, “We’ve never even really met before today, so I don’t know why Dustin thought that I could-”
“I mean, I obviously want to stop hiding out,” he admitted, “I just can’t believe Henderson dragged you into it on my behalf now.”
“Well, you were Chrissy’s friend and I know you didn’t do anything to her because she wouldn’t have stuck around if she were scared of you performing rituals or whatever shit Jason’s trying to push,” you offered, making him chuckle, “And I’m already in it, so I might as well do what I can to help. Sure beats writing scholarship essays.”
“With your smarts, any college would be stupid not to take you,” he said without thinking. His eyes widened in horror, but his heart raced when you giggled.
“Thanks,” you replied, “It’s just disappointing I can’t put ‘saved the town of Hawkins, Indiana from an evil curse’ on any of my applications.”
“Well, you could,” he shrugged, “Just don’t expect to get into that college though.”
“I don’t think I’d get into any college after that. They’d probably let all the others know I’m insane.”
“There’s nothing wrong with being a little insane, sweetheart,” Eddie said, making you snort softly.
The two of you walked for a little while longer in comfortable silence. Eddie had since given you his jacket as it got cooler, admiring how cute you looked in it. In fact, he’d been so entranced with you that he’d actually forgotten what you were meant to be doing in the first place.
“So... How do we know if we’ve found a gate or whatever?” you asked.
“No idea,” he admitted, “But Henderson said it’ll be obvious, so I guess we just...look for the obvious.”
Suddenly, as if Vecna himself heard you, the ground started to shake violently. Eddie grabbed onto a small tree, wrapping his arm around your waist and keeping you close so neither of you fell.
“I think someone found the obvious!” he hollered over the sounds of trees being shaken back and forth, their limbs and leaves slamming against each other.
“What are you talking about?! This is totally normal!” you shouted back, gripping him just as tightly as he was holding you while your legs desperately tried to hold you up.
You started hearing loud cracking sounds in the distance followed by small explosions every now and then. Your gaze snapped up to Eddie, finding him already looking at you with a horrified expression.
“What is that?” you asked as the shaking began to subside. It sounded like it was all going away from you, so you figured the gate must be further than you were heading.
“We have to go find everyone,” Eddie said, releasing the tree and grabbing your hand. You both ran as carefully as you could back toward Skull Rock, hoping that’s what the others had done too.
All of this was happening so fast – you had just been told of the existence of the Upside Down not even three hours ago, and now it seemed like it was all going downhill faster than you could process it. You didn’t even fully understand what the gates were yet, and now it was very likely that one was opening?
“I think I’m gonna throw up,” you grumbled mostly to yourself but felt Eddie squeeze your hand in response.
When the rock came back into view, you could see the group already there, frantically looking around for you and Eddie. Steve was the first to spot you two, sighing in relief.
“Guys!” he exclaimed, making everyone turn, “Are you alright?” He, Robin, and Nancy shared a look when they realized you were wearing Eddie’s jacket.
“Where are Max and Lucas?” you asked, noticing they were the only ones not there. Eddie had yet to release your hand – not that you were going to let go of him either.
“Maybe they’re still on their way? Creel house is pretty far from here...” Robin suggested, but you could tell she felt off about it too.
“What do we do then?” Nancy shook her head, “We can’t just stand here and wait and hope they show up.”
“Well, good news,” Dustin said, “Me and Steve found the gate that was making the compass fuck up at Lover’s Lake.”
“Language, Henderson!” Steve exclaimed, smacking the back of his shoulder.
“We should still go check it out! It could help save Max from the curse!” he insisted. The group reluctantly agreed and started following Dustin toward the lake.
“Hey, are you sure you still wanna do this, Y/N?” Steve asked, “Maybe you should go home.”
“No way!” you frowned, “I’m at least finding out what the hell an Upside Down or whatever gate thing is first!” You felt your heart flutter when Eddie chuckled beside you.
“Alright,” Robin added, “Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.”
When you arrived at the lake a few minutes later, it looked completely normal. You knew you should be relieved, but you were honestly disappointed – wasn’t this supposed to be some kind of portal to the underworld?
Steve broke away from the group and went into the boat house, reemerging moments later after pushing a boat onto the water. Eddie immediately jumped in, helping Robin and Nancy in as well. He then held his hand out to you, and you knew you shouldn’t – you knew you were biting off way more than you could chew – but you immediately took it and got sat down with everyone else. Dustin started to climb on as well but Steve stopped him as Nancy started rowing.
“Not you, Henderson,” he stated firmly.
“Yeah! Bedtime’s at 9!” Robin chirped.
“What?!” he shouted, begrudgingly handing over his compass when Nancy reached for it.
“Too many cooks rock the boat, you know,” Steve shrugged.
“I don’t think that’s the saying at all!” Dustin rolled his eyes, “I think you’re just an idiot!” Eddie remained silent while you gave the teen a sympathetic smile, promising him you’d be back in no time. “There you are!” you heard his voice again, making you all look over to find the two kids you’d been worried about.
“What are you guys doing?!” Lucas called after you.
“We’ll tell you when we get back!” Steve announced. You assumed the sound you heard next was Dustin groaning loudly again and going on to explain to them what had been said at Skull Rock.
Once Nancy reached where she believed the electromagnetic source was coming from, she stopped. You all listened for something – anything – that sounded different, but nothing did. You looked over when Steve started pulling off his shoes and socks.
“Steve, what are you doing?” Nancy asked.
“Someone’s gotta go down there and check things out,” he informed you all, taking off his sweater and diving in before anyone had the chance to argue with him.
You waited for what felt like hours, jumping when Steve popped back up only a few moments later. He tossed his flashlight back into the boat and grabbed onto the side for support.
“There’s definitely a gate down there,” he informed you.
“Is that a good thing?” you asked.
But he wasn’t able to respond.
Steve was suddenly yanked back underwater, making you all start shouting. Nancy didn’t waste a second before diving in after him, Robin quickly following suit.
“Are you kidding me?!” you screamed at the water as you stood up – though you knew it wouldn’t do any good.
“Y/N,” Eddie said with a warning tone, “Don’t you da-” He didn’t finish the statement before you jumped into the lake as well. He slapped his hands over his face – he knew damn well he wasn’t about to let you be an absolute moron by yourself – and let out a ‘Son of a bitch, this is so stupid!’ out loud before following you in.
You yelped in surprise as you entered into the Upside Down. You didn’t know what you were expecting to happen, but being literally tossed into the middle of a bunch of flying...things...trying to kill Steve wasn’t it. Nancy and Robin were hitting the creatures with pieces of a broken oar, and Eddie came tumbling into the mayhem with the other one.
“Y/N, duck!” he shouted. You didn’t even hesitate before doing exactly as you were told, feeling your hair fly as Eddie’s oar flew above your head. Your gaze snapped to the side, watching a bat-like creature fall flat on the ground a few feet away from you.
You then looked over at Steve, finding him struggling against one of them choking him. Since you felt practically useless without a weapon, you figured you’d try to help the best you could.
You kept yourself low to the ground as you reached him, helping him pry off what appeared to be a tail wrapped around his neck. Once you were both successful, he grabbed the tail and slammed the thing into the ground as hard as he could a couple of times until he was sure it was dead.
The moment of silence that followed – once the creatures were lifeless heaps on the ground around you – you all looked at each other.
“What the hell were those things?” Eddie asked.
“Demobats,” Steve answered as if it were the most casual thing in the world, “I can’t believe all of you idiots followed me.”
“You’d have been a goner if we hadn’t, you dingus!” Robin reminded him.
“Well, it’s not like I planned to be dragged down here!”
“Guys, can we not fight about this right now?” Nancy held her hand up, “We’ve got more company incoming!”
You all looked to where she was pointing, noticing a new swarm of creatures – now known to you as demobats – were en route. You then looked back down at your now completely shredded weapons, knowing there was no way you’d be able to take on any more of those things.
“We need to get to my house,” she went on, “If this really is just the underside of the real world, my guns should still be in my bedroom.” You looked at her in shock.
“You, Nancy Wheeler, have guns – plural – in your bedroom?” Eddie cocked an eyebrow. She shrugged with a guilty smile on her face.
“Well, it sure beats being eaten alive by demon bats,” you stated, following Nancy in the direction of her house.
“Demobats,” Steve corrected.
“Does it really matter?!” you huffed, your head snapping to look at him. You could feel yourself doing a double take.
You then turned to shoot Eddie a look and he immediately nodded. You slipped your arms out of his jacket and held it out to Steve.
“Please take this, Prince Hairy,” you stated, “I just met you today and I’m very uncomfortable.” The group snorted softly – Robin snickering and calling Steve a dingus again – as he embarrassingly took the item of clothing from you.
Nancy led you all to her house – well, the Upside Down version of her house – and shoved the side door open. Steve and Eddie immediately wandered off upon entering, but you and Robin decided to follow Nancy to wherever she was going. You ended up in her bedroom, showing up in the doorway just as she was letting out a defeated sigh.
“Crap,” Nancy grumbled, closing the closet doors, “My guns aren’t here.”
“Now what are we supposed to do?” Robin wondered, “We can’t get out of here with those bats flying around.”
“There has to be a way to let someone know we’re trapped,” you shook your head with a frown, “I mean yeah, real life sucks, but I don’t wanna be stuck here forever!” The girls looked at you with concern.
“Are you doing okay after...?” Robin asked you.
“I don’t know,” you admitted, “I haven’t been alone long enough to think about it, really.”
“You know, I know what it’s like to lose your best friend,” Nancy offered, “So if you ever need to talk, I’m here.”
“Me too!” Robin chirped, “All this Upside Down stuff can be a lot to take in, but it sure is better than being kidnapped by Russians.” You stopped what you were doing to look at her incredulously. “Oh yeah! Me and Steve were taken by the Russians hiding out underneath the Starcourt Mall,” she shrugged nonchalantly, “They were a bunch of dinguses though – they didn’t even get the drugs they injected us with right.”
“DUSTIN?!” you suddenly heard Steve shout, making you all jump, “HEY?! HENDERSON?!”
“We’re gonna unpack more of that later,” you pointed at Robin before the three of you ran out of the room toward Steve’s voice.
You entered the living room at the same time as Eddie, all of you staring at Steve in confusion. He was pacing around like a madman, shouting Dustin’s name at the ceiling.
“Are you cursed now, Harrington?” Eddie asked.
“Just listen!” he insisted. You were all silent for a moment, none of you hearing what he claimed to.
“We don’t have time for this, you dingus!” Robin rolled her eyes.
“I heard the kid talking! It was like he was here! Can you just-”
“Steve!” Nancy shouted to grab his attention, only continuing when he looked at her, “You said Will communicated with Joyce through lights, right?”
Steve’s eyes widened and the both of them ran toward the light switch on the wall. You, Robin, and Eddie watched on in confusion, none of you understanding what was going on. Nancy flipped the switch up and down a few times, huffing when nothing happened.
“Shit,” she mumbled, “It’s not working.”
“Uh, guys...” you spoke up. The group looked at you, following your amazed stare at the light fixture in the middle of the room.
It appeared to have some sort of orange sparkles dancing around it, though the fixture itself didn’t even seem to be in working order. Nancy lifted her arm to touch it, all of you watching in awe as the light bulbs flickered in response.
“Does anyone know Morse code?” she asked, earning a chorus of dejected ‘no’s.
“Wait,” Eddie suddenly said, “Does SOS count?” You all looked at him with dumbfounded expressions, making him frown. “What?”
“Just do it,” Robin rolled her eyes, motioning to the light above you.
Eddie poked around the orange glow a few times, and you could hear Erica’s faint voice alerting Dustin and Lucas to it. They stopped speaking for a moment but you then heard Dustin say ‘S...O...S...’, making you cheer at realizing he understood what you were trying to communicate.
“How are we supposed to keep talking to them?” Eddie asked, putting his arm back against his side, “Those are the only letters I know how to do.”
“Hmph,” Nancy began chewing on her bottom lip before sighing in defeat, “I have no idea.”
After a moment of silent brainstorming – and Eddie wandering off after getting bored – you were nowhere closer to a solution than you had been. You looked back up at the light fixture and decided you wanted a closer look, only to be yelled at while doing so.
“Hey!” you heard Dustin’s echoing shout, “Stop! That’s too bright!” The group turned to find you quickly pulling your arm back to your chest.
“Sorry,” you mumbled in embarrassment, “The light got brighter when I got closer to the glass. I thought it was cool.”
“The light got brighter...” Nancy repeated softly to herself before sucking in a breath of realization, “Lite Brite!”
“Lite Brite?” Steve cocked an eyebrow, “Like the kids’ toy?”
“Yes! Holly got one for Christmas three years ago! We can use the lights on that to talk to the kids!”
“How are we supposed to tell them that though?” Robin questioned.
“Y/N,” Nancy said, making you perk up, “Touch the glass again and don’t let go.” You were confused but did as she asked anyway.
You could hear the teenagers start to complain again, all of them whining that ‘the light’s too bright!’. But as they slowly stopped, you couldn’t ignore that Nancy’s plan seemed to be working.
“Hey... Isn’t Mike’s sister playing with one of those Lite Brite things when we go over sometimes?” Lucas asked.
“Yes!” you, Nancy, Steve, and Robin exclaimed simultaneously, following Nancy when she ran down the hall to Holly’s room.
Once she dug the toy out from underneath her sister’s bed, the four of you quickly worked on placing all the pegs into the holes, filling up the entire Lite Brite board in a matter of seconds. Nancy moved her fingers across the glowing rainbow of lights, but you didn’t receive a response like you were hoping.
“Why isn’t it working?” you heard Erica ask.
“Yank it,” Dustin directed, and Lucas pulled the plug out of the socket by the cord. Nancy tried again, writing out a letter ‘H’ followed by an ‘I’. “H... I...” he said slowly before gasping, “Hi!”
“Yes!” you cheered again, making Eddie poke his head into the room.
“What are you guys doing?” he came into the room.
“We found a way to communicate with the kids,” Nancy said, “What were you doing?”
“Found a flashlight for Y/N,” he said, handing it to you. You smiled softly and thanked him, turning back to Holly’s bed. “We can communicate? How?” he leaned over your shoulder, his hands finding your hips to keep himself steady as he sat on his knees with the rest of you. Robin looked at you when she heard your breathing hitch, glancing down and smirking at the situation.
Nancy spelled out answers to the questions you could hear Dustin asking, finally able to let them know you were trapped in the Upside Down and needed help finding a way back out. Everyone listened to the kids try to come up with a plan but you were spaced out, only coming back when Robin nudged you.
“You good, Y/N?” she asked, making the rest of them turn to you.
“I was just thinking...” you sighed, “It’s probably stupid though.”
“Well, if you’ve got an idea, it would be more than the rest of us have so far,” Steve reminded you.
“You guys said that the gates open when there’s a death, right?” you asked, earning nods, “Well... If the lake is a gate because of Patrick, and that road by the fairground is where Fred was... Wouldn’t Chrissy have made Eddie’s trailer a gate too?” The four looked at each other and you watched the smiles grow on their faces.
“Y/N,” Robin grabbed your shoulders, “You’re a downright genius.” You smiled brightly, finally feeling like you were actually contributing something to the group’s efforts to get back to the real world.
“Eddie, how far away is the trailer park?” Nancy asked him.
“7 miles,” he answered instantly, earning looks from everyone. “What?” he raised his eyebrows, “I’ve been to parties.”
“That’s too far to walk,” she shook her head, “We’ll have to take Me and my brother’s bikes – Lucas and Erica’s too.”
“That still leaves one person without a bike,” Steve reminded her.
“I could ride on the handlebars,” you offered, “I used to do it all the time with Chrissy since I didn’t have a bike.”
You made your way outside to where the Wheelers kept their bikes before walking across the yard and finding the Sinclair siblings’ as well. You determined that Erica’s bike would be most comfortable, so Steve straddled the seat so you could hop on. You wobbled slightly as he began pedaling, barely catching yourself before falling off – it really had been a while since you’d done this.
“You need to lean back?” Steve wondered, “You just have to hold my flashlight.”
“I think I can handle that,” you chuckled, taking the device and doing as he asked, no one noticing the boy sulking at the sight of it.
~
7 miles later, you arrived at Forest Hills Trailer Park. Eddie moved to the front of the group to lead you to his trailer, scoffing to himself as you giggled at one of Steve’s stupid jokes. You hopped off of the handlebars before Steve parked the bike with everyone else’s, following Eddie into his home. Once the door opened, you all stood in awe as you stared up at the ceiling.
“Guys!” Dustin was smiling down at you, “How’s it going up there?”
“Up?” Steve asked, “You’re the one that’s up, Henderson.”
“I hardly think that’s important right now,” Max, who was now with the group, reminded everyone, “What’s important is how to they get back here?”
“Well, they just have to climb in, right?” Lucas shrugged, “Just find something to climb.”
“Eddie! How many sheets do you have?” Dustin questioned.
“In the hall closet!” he called back as he walked away. And sure enough, the teen returned a few moments later with an armful of sheets and thin blankets.
“They’ll need something to land on too!” Lucas chimed in, already hurrying out of sight. He called for help, prompting Max to follow him while Erica and Dustin worked on tying the ends of the fabrics together.
The two teens came back, dragging Eddie’s mattress along with them. They let it fall right underneath the portal opening just as the other two finished tying the final knots.
“Alright, here goes nothing,” Dustin said, taking the makeshift rope and looking up at the rest of you. He tossed it upwards, all of you watching it fall into a heap at your feet. “Okay, now pull,” he said. Robin grabbed the rope in front of her and put all her body weight into it, and you were all amazed to see that it actually held up.
“This is the craziest shit I’ve ever seen in my life,” Erica commented, “And I’ve seen some crazy shit.” She happily high-fived Dustin when he held his hand up for one.
“Hey, Eddie... What are those-” Robin asked, pointing to some discolored parts of the mattress. “-that we’re going to be landing on?”
“Those are...” Eddie trailed off, “I don’t know what those stains are.”
“Sure you don’t,” you rolled your eyes, “Look, I don’t even care if they’re fresh as long as I get the fuck out of here.”
The four gave you disgusted looks as Robin began her climb as the first guinea pig – her words, not yours – to leave the Upside Down. You watched her fall flat on her back, breathing heavily as she smiled.
“Thank God,” she sat up, getting out of the way as you began your ascent back to the real world. You let out a sharp yelp, not expecting the floor to be as far as it was but happy to be home nonetheless.
Eddie was next to come through the portal, sighing as he sat up on the mattress, “That was fun.” He took your hand and let you help him back to his feet, all of you now watching as Nancy gripped the rope.
But she didn’t climb up and come falling through the portal like you’d expected her to.
You all watched as Steve’s expression changed to a horrified one, grabbing Nancy’s shoulders and starting to shake.
“Nancy?!” he yelled right in her face, “Nancy! Wake up!”
Max gasped softly, her voice coming out as a whisper, “Vecna...”
“Vecna has Nancy?!” Robin started freaking out, “What could he possibly want her for?!”
“Music!” Max spoke again, “Music got me out of it before; We need something for Nancy!”
“I have some cassettes in my room!” Eddie said, prompting you to follow him as he ran toward the back of the trailer. He directed everyone to the various places he kept his collection, all of you practically tearing apart his entire bedroom to find something you thought would work for Nancy.
“Steve says you guys need to hurry up!” Erica shouted as she ran into the room.
“No shit!” Dustin responded, tossing another tape to the side.
“What is any of this stuff?!” Robin exclaimed, “There’s no Madonna, Blondie, Bowie, Beatles – music! We need music!”
“THIS IS MUSIC!” Eddie screamed back at her, shaking a Metallica tape in front of her face.
“Everyone, just calm down!” you yelled over their fighting, “Does anyone know what Nancy likes to listen to? Pop? Metal? Fucking ocean sounds?”
No one was able to respond, hearing loud thuds coming from the living room. You all ran to the door to look down the hall, finding Nancy breathing heavily on the mattress and Steve groaning in pain from landing on the hard floor.
“Nancy!” Robin gasped in relief, but you were the first to break away from the group.
You shoved Eddie and Dustin out of the doorway, running to the two as they sat up. You weren’t even fully on your knees before you threw your arms around the girl, hugging her tightly. You understood why she didn’t hug you back – you had only met her that day, after all – but you didn’t mind; You were just happy she was alive.
“I’m so sorry I did that without even asking, but I’m just really glad you’re okay!” you exhaled sharply, “You are okay, right?” Your eyes widened. “Oh my God, I should have asked if you were okay before I hugged you! I didn’t hurt you more, did I? I’m so sorry; I really didn’t mean to-”
Your rambling was cut short when Nancy suddenly grabbed your shoulders and pulled you back in, hugging you tighter than you’d previously hugged her. You took that moment to catch your breath, allowing her to remind you that she was in fact okay and actually right in front of you.
“I’m fine, Y/N,” she assured you, squeezing you before letting go to look at you, “Thank you for caring.” You gave her a shy smile.
“I’m sorry if I’m being weird,” you murmured, “I don’t- Chrissy was the only person who talked to me before, so I... I’m not really...used...to having friends...” You were looking down at your hands as you nervously played with your fingers, not even noticing the way everyone looked at each other with small smiles on their faces.
“What was that?” Max asked, “Why did Vecna want you?”
“Why me? I don’t know,” she shook her head, “But Vecna, he... He gave me these...visions.. And he wants me to tell El everything he showed me in them.”
“What... What did you see?” Robin asked carefully.
“Things that haven’t happened yet – the most terrible things,” she recounted, “I saw a dark cloud spreading over Hawkins, downtown on fire, dead soldiers, and this...giant creature with...a gaping mouth. But this thing wasn’t alone; There were so many monsters – an army of them. And then... Then he showed me my mom...and Holly...and Mike... A-And they... They were all...” She let out a shaky breath, unable to even finish the sentence, as Steve grabbed her hand and squeezed.
“He was just trying to scare you, Nance,” he tried to reassure her, but he was obviously freaked out as well, “Right? I mean... It’s not real...”
“Not yet,” she shook her head, “But that wasn’t it. He showed me these gates – four of them – spreading across Hawkins; They all looked like the one at the bottom of the lake. But they were growing. And they didn’t stop getting bigger. But it wasn’t the Upside Down version of Hawkins; It was this one – the real one.”
“You said four gates?” Max asked, making Nancy nod, “Four gates... Four chimes... Vecna’s clock always chimes in fours.”
“Yeah,” she nodded again, “I heard the clock too.”
“He’s been telling us his plan the whole time!” Max threw her arm up, “Four kills. Four gates.”
“If that’s true...” you swallowed, “He’s only one kill away from the end of the world.”
~
The next day
“He's a number like Eleven,” Max said, “So he must have come from that Hawkins Lab experiment that got it shut down.”
“Sure,” Robin remarked, “Only a sick, evil, male, child-murdering version of her with really bad skin.”
“My point is he’s super powerful,” she rolled her eyes, “Could turn us inside out with the snap of his fingers. It’s not a fair fight.”
“Then why fight fair?” Dustin spoke up, “You’re right; He’s like El. But that gives us an upper hand. We know her strengths and weaknesses.”
“Weaknesses?” Steve cocked an eyebrow.
“When El did that remote-travel thing to free me from him the first time, she told me her physical body is in some sort of trance,” Max informed you, “I bet the same is true for Vecna.”
“That’s why he’s up in the Upside Down version of the Creel house?” Nancy asked, “Because he’s in a trance to get to multiple people at once?”
“So we have to go back into the Upside Down,” you announced, making everyone look at you incredulously.
“You’re kidding, right?” Steve asked, “Need I remind you we barely made it out of there yesterday.”
“Listen, I know I just joined in on this shit show, but it sounds to me like you have to take out the physical person and not just his mind fuckery,” you shrugged, “If he’s in a trance, he’s basically defenseless.”
“What about his army of freaky-looking bats,” Robin pointed out.
“We just have to find a way past them.”
“Or distract them and lead them somewhere else,” Dustin said.
“The only problem is there’s no pattern to Vecna’s killings,” Erica finally spoke, “Not one I can decipher anyway; We won’t know when he attacks next until someone dies.”
“But we don’t even know who that someone is,” Nancy sighed.
“Yeah, we do,” Max nodded, “I can still feel him; I’m still cursed. I’ll draw his focus back to me.”
“Max... No...” Lucas shook his head slowly, “He’ll kill you.”
“I survived him before; I can survive again,” she said confidently, “All I have to do is distract him long enough for you guys to get into the attic and chop his head off or stab him through the heart – I honestly don’t care how you put that asshole in his grave. Just... Whatever you do, try not to miss.”
~
You grunted as you fell through the gate, landing with a hard thud despite the group’s best efforts to make it a pain-free landing. You assured them you were alright though, following them outside the trailer back into the desolate Upside Down.
“Alright, were all good on the plan?” Nancy asked, earning a chorus of affirmations.
“And guys-” Steve looked at you and Eddie. “-if things here start to go south, I mean, at all, you abort, got it?” he deadpanned, “Don’t try to be heroes.”
“Absolutely,” Eddie nodded, “I mean, look at us: we are definitely not heroes.”
“I’m just trying to figure out what college to attend,” you shrugged.
“And I’m just trying to graduate high school,” he added, smiling at you when you giggled. Steve, Nancy, and Robin began their journey to Creel house, but they turned when Eddie spoke again. “Hey, Steve?” he said, waiting until he looked at him to continue, “Make him pay.” Steve gave him a small nod, silently promising to do exactly that.
You stood still as you watched them leave, not really sure what to say next. Eddie looked over, noticing the weary expression on your face. He remained silent for a moment – he wasn’t sure what to say either – before finally forcing his brain to come up with something.
“You don’t have to do this, Y/N,” Eddie told you, “Nobody would blame you if you went back home.” You stared at the dark blue and grey sky for a moment, your mind racing with thoughts of ‘is this actually happening?’ before you finally looked up at him.
“For Chrissy?” you whispered. Eddie shot you a smile.
“For Chrissy,” he nodded, holding a fist up with the outside of his hand facing you. You bumped the backside of your own hand against it, both of you taking a deep breath before climbing up onto the roof.
He hopped up on top of the trailer before reaching down and helping you. You grabbed his forearms and he grabbed yours, hoisting you up until you were in front of him. He went to let go, but you didn’t. Instead, you were staring at him, your mouth making small movements until you finally found the words.
“You’re sure this is gonna work?” you asked him.
“No better way to lure over a bunch of blood-hungry demon bats than by playing satanic music, sweetheart,” he winked.
You rolled your eyes, shoving him away from you. He chuckled to himself as he grabbed his guitar, bending down to turn on the amp he, Steve, and Dustin had put up there.
Once you turned the volume up as loud as it could go, you grabbed the binoculars and looked up at Eddie. You gave him a small nod and he did the same, yanking the guitar pick off of the chain around his neck.
“Chrissy,” you heard him murmur to himself before he started playing, “This is for you.”
It took a couple moments for you to start seeing results, but when you did... Oh boy, did you see them. The bats were approaching far faster than you’d expected them too, and you couldn’t pretend you weren’t scared to death. Once the swarm was completely covering your field of view through the binoculars, you knew it was time to get to safety.
“They’re almost here!” you shouted over their screeches, “Eddie, we gotta go!”
Eddie quickly yanked the plug out of his guitar and grabbed your hand, pulling you along with him back down off the room. You scrambled to get inside, Eddie pushing you in before slamming the fence door closed just as the bats reached the trailer.
“God, that was so badass!” you panted, leaning against the wall to catch your breath.
“Thanks, sweetheart,” he smirked, “I’ll have to play it again for you sometime.”
However, your moment was ruined when you both jumped at the sound of something hitting metal. You and Eddie shared a terrified look before snapping your heads toward the sound. A demobat had made its way into one of the vents of the trailer, weaseling its way inside.
“Oh, shit!” Eddie shouted, grabbing his makeshift shield and killing it before it could get to you, “Get through the portal!” He followed you to the middle of the room, hoisting you up and watching you tumble back into the real world. But when you reached up to help him through next, he just looked at you.
And you knew what he was going to do.
“Eddie...” you said slowly, “What part of ‘don’t be heroes’ do you not understand?”
“They’re going to go after the others, Y/N,” he shook his head, “I don’t want to run away anymore.”
“Eddie, don’t you dare!” you screamed – much like he had the day you dove into Lover’s Lake to help save Steve – but it was no use; He was already running back out of the Upside Down trailer anyway.
Without hesitation, you climbed back through the portal, landing on the bed with a hard thud. You let out a quiet ‘oof’ before springing to your feet and following him back into the mayhem.
You made it to the gate outside the trailer just in time to watch Eddie running with his makeshift sword and shield, leading the bats away from the portal. You grabbed the spiked bat Steve had insisted you take from Nancy’s arsenal of weapons – “just in case everything goes to shit” – and ran after him without a second thought.
Just as you were getting closer to Eddie, you saw a demobat flying up fast behind him. You knew he wasn’t going to notice it until it was too late, so you immediately charged for it. Eddie spun around when the animal let out a pained screech as it was killed, his eyes widening upon realizing you’d followed him.
“What are you doing, Y/N?!” he shouted, “Go home!”
“Not without you, Munson!” you returned just as loudly, killing another bat as he did the same.
“What did I tell you?! You shouldn’t- Duck!” You did so, letting him kill a bat as it was diving for you. “You shouldn’t be here!” he insisted.
“I never got to help Chrissy through her shit, Eddie! I’m not going to just let you die too!” your voice cracked, making him pause for a moment.
He then grabbed your hand and both of you ran back to the trailer, Eddie closing the gate behind you to buy a moment to talk some sense into you.
“You did not let Chrissy die, Y/N,” he told you.
“I didn’t help her!” you shook your head, not bothering to hold back your tears anymore, “I knew something was wrong! I knew she was acting different! I knew it wasn’t ‘just the depression’ this time! If I just tried a little harder, she would have told me what was going on! And I could have helped her and she would still be ali-”
“Stop it,” Eddie stated firmly, grabbing your face and making sure you were looking at him, “You said it yourself: Vecna’s curse is practically impossible to get out of without knowing you’re in it. There was absolutely nothing you could have done differently. She wouldn’t want you blaming yourself.”
“She wouldn’t blame you for running away either,” you whispered, holding his wrists tightly in an attempt to ground yourself, “She would have run if she saw what you did too.” He stared at you speechless for a moment before swallowing.
“You shouldn’t- Don’t sacrifice yourself for me,” he shook his head, “I’m not worth-”
“Yes, you are!” you sniffled, squeezing him tightly, “Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean you’re not worth fighting for! You’re weird and loud and obnoxious, but there’s nothing wrong with being a ‘freak’; It’s what makes you you! People like Jason not being able to appreciate it doesn’t mean everybody wants you to disappear! We just want you to be loved!”
You could tell Eddie was getting choked up by the way his eyes started to glisten. You never wanted this to be the way you confessed your feelings, but you couldn’t let him go on his suicide mission without him knowing.
He suddenly pressed his forehead to yours, breathing in deeply and acting as if you were being converged on by a bunch of monsters.
“Y/N,” he swallowed thickly, feelings your own breathing hitch, “Please go home; Get to safety.”
“I’m not leaving here without you, Eddie,” you repeated your earlier statement, “I go where you go.”
“That is the hottest thing any girl has ever said to me,” he admitted, though he still huffed at your stubbornness, “If we make it out of here alive, remind me to kiss you.” You finally let the corner of your mouth twitch into a small grin, making him smile as well.
“Promise?” you asked. Eddie held up his hand, showing you his extended pinky finger. Your small grin only grew, linking your pinky with his.
“Wouldn’t dare break the sanctity of a pinky promise, sweetheart,” he informed you, “Now let’s go kick some demon ass.”
You were sure you fought those damn things for the next 12 hours. They were a lot stronger than you gave them credit for, often needing two or three good hits before falling to the ground. But you and Eddie still gave it your all. You weren’t backing down this time; You weren’t going down without a fight.
But as soon as it all started, it suddenly came to an end. All of the remaining demobats dropped dead at once, and, after a moment in stunned silence, you and Eddie knew that could only mean one thing.
“Vecna’s dead?” Eddie murmured, both of your eyes widening.
“Vecna’s dead...” you whispered before throwing your bat down and bouncing on your feet, “Vecna’s dead! We did it!”
Eddie joined you in jumping excitedly before he discarded his own weapons and reached for you. He grabbed your waist with one hand before wrapping his arms around you tightly. You didn’t even hesitate as you hugged him back, your own arms around his neck and your face buried in his jacket. You both had cuts everywhere, your clothes were shredded, and your hair was a mess, but you were alive.
He lifted you off of your feet and you let your legs dangle against his. You closed your eyes and squeezed each other, simply reminding the other that you weren’t dead and imagining this entire thing. You could feel Eddie start bouncing on his feet,
“‘86 really is my year, baby!” he shouted at the sky, throwing his arms up in victory. You giggled at the outburst, putting your hands on his chest.
“I think you made me a pinky promise if we made it out alive, Munson,” you reminded him. Eddie didn’t even hesitate before grabbing your face again, this time to kiss you like his life depended on it.
When he pulled away to breathe, his eyes were still closed for a moment before he opened them again. He couldn’t stop himself from giving you one more peck on the lips though, moving his thumb to wipe some dirt off of your cheek.
“I’ve wanted to do that for a long time,” he admitted, and you let a soft breath out of your nose.
“Me too,” you nodded.
“Is now a good time to tell you I’ve had a crush on you since the second you stepped into Mrs. O’Donnell’s class?” he asked you, smiling at the way your eyes lit up.
“Is now a good time to tell you I’ve had a crush on you since you told Jason that no one cared how good he was at ‘tossing balls into laundry baskets’?” you returned, earning a small smirk in response.
He didn’t say anything, though; He just returned his arms to your waist, wrapping you up in another tight hug.
“You are crazy and stupid and a total idiot for following me,” Eddie reminded you, his voice slightly muffled by the skin on your neck.
“A crazy, stupid, total idiot who kept you from being some ugly demon bat’s 3-course dinner,” you reminded him with a big smile.
“I think you mean demobats,” he copied Steve’s voice, succeeding in making you giggle.
“Whatever,” you shoved his head playfully. Eddie finally released you, stepping back and holding his hand out to you.
“Would the lady like to go home?” he bowed obnoxiously.
“Are you going to actually follow me this time?” you rolled your eyes as you placed your hand in his and tangled your fingers together, making him grin stupidly.
“I’ll follow you anywhere you tell me to, sweetheart.”

Chapter 3
“Remind me why are we doing this again?”, Jess asked at lunch time on monday, as we made our way through the cafeteria towards Peter B’s table.
She was skeptical at first when you told her about your plan.
“Gotta be honest, babe, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, I’ll tell you that”, was her initial reaction. And then you showed her the texts Harry had been sending you. He hasn't stopped since you broke up. You didn’t answer him when he called you a “stubborn bitch”, after a few hours had gone by, Harry texted you again, apologizing for what he said, telling you that he hoped the two of you could still be friends. You knew better than to tell your very protective best friend this part, but you kind of felt sorry for him.
That is until he sent you a 5 second video of him, clearly drunk, kissing a girl on the street, while other people — his friends, you assumed — screamed words of encouragement, if you could even call it that. One of them went so far as shout “fuck” followed by your name.
It was the middle of the night when you got that and it was impossible to sleep afterwards. As much as you tried to hide it, your eyes were still puffy, your heart aching.
“I thought it would be nice to have lunch at their table sometimes”, you answered her, pointing at Peter B, whose loud laugh echoed through the cafeteria. “Peter said we were welcomed and the others seemed nice about it.”
Most days you’d have lunch with Jess, with some of her volleyball team mates joining you. The days she decided to use her lunch break to catch up on some reading or errands for the many clubs she was a part of, you would sit by yourself, listening to music or reading romance novels on your phone.
This was a nice change of pace. Also, you figured it would be a good idea to spend more time with Miguel. Not only because you needed to come up with a game plan for his study sessions, but also so you’d be seen with him, make people get used to the idea of the two of you.
“Look at this, not only one little lady, but two”, Hobie gave you and Jess a nod. You couldn’t help but cringe at his line, even though you knew he meant well.
“Call me little lady again and I’ll stomp on you”, Jess was half joking half telling the truth. She was tall enough to do that, you were sure.
“Uh, darling, don’t threaten me with a good time.”
Jess rolled her eyes, sitting down near Gwen, who apologized for her friends “being so weird”.
“Hobbie, you were supposed to be a lady magnet, not repellent”, Miles complained.
“All is fair in love and war, mate”, Hobbie said.
“What? That doesn’t even make any sense.”
Peter B. was talking to Miguel, who seemed grumpy for some reason, but stopped and smiled when you sat down in front of them.
“You came back!”, Peter said, excited. He was always excited, it seemed. Which made his friendship with Miguel kind of funny to you, since the latter was so closed off.
“Thank you for having us”, you smiled back. “We barely arrived and it’s already interesting”, you looked back at Hobbie and Miles.
Peter laughed: “Oh, all in the name of good fun. It’s the Peter B’s guarantee”.
Miguel, who had remained silent until now, hid his face with his hands.
“Peter, for the love of God, you have to stop saying shit like this out loud”, he groaned.
It was so genuine it made you laugh. Not your usual contained laughs, a real one. Miguel finally looked at you, surprised. You kept laughing.
“What's so funny?”, Jess stopped talking to Gwen for a moment.
“I…don’t…know”, you fought the laughter, but it just kept going despite your efforts. Your best friend smiled at you, so did Gwen.
“Miguel, you’re already handsome and smart, you can’t be funny too, otherwise, what’s left for us?”, Miles teased. “Right, Peter?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, I’m also smart and handsome.”
“Cute, maybe, you haven’t earned handsome yet”, added Hobbie.
“I guess aunt May will just forget to make you a vegetarian pie on your birthday this year”, Peter crossed his arms.
“No no no, mate, that’s…Never mind what I said before, you are very handsome, Miguel doesn’t even compare, isn’t that right?”, Hobbie poked you in the arm.
You were recovering from your laugh fit, smile on your face, recovering your breath. You looked at him, then at Miguel. Your new fake boyfriend had his eyebrows up, looking at you with a sly smile. He really was beautiful, every line and texture on his face had a purpose, almost like he was sculpted rather than conceived.
“I’m sorry to inform you, Miguel is still very handsome”, you look back at Hobbie, then at Peter. “It doesn’t mean you can’t be too, Pete.”
“Thank you, your invitation to sit at our table has been successfully renewed”, he declared.
You nodded and looked at Miguel.
“So you think I’m handsome, huh?”, he had a smirk on his face.
“Well, it’s more like a fact rather than an opinion”, you were starting to notice how good you’ve been at bullshitting. The things you’d say when you were not overthinking it.
“Interesting”, Miguel crossed his arms.
“All smug out of the sudden. Just a few minutes ago when I arrived you looked like you were about to combust.”
“What?”, his face then coming to realization. “I was upset because there were no more empanadas left when we got here.”
You were trying not to laugh again, but he said it with such seriousness.
“Wow, yes. That can be very upsetting.”
“Why call it empanadas mondays if there aren’t enough empanadas?”
“Sure. If it was called barely empanadas monday, at least you could manage your expectations before coming here.”
“This is very serious to me, cariño.”
Cariño . You felt something in your heart. Something different, but good. You didn’t remember exactly what the word meant, just that it was a spanish term of endearment. It threw you off the banter for a second.
“Gotcha, empanadas are very important.”
“That’s correct.”
“Speaking of…we need to start our lessons. Can you stay after class today?”
“I have basketball practice”, he said. “Could you meet me afterwards?”
“Sure. I need to catch up on some homework in the library, I’ll come and find you.”
“It’s a date.”

Not The Right Time Finale
Tumblr media
Summary: Tori comes clean
A/N: Thank you guys so much for the love and support on this series, I had so much fun writing it!
“Tell me what?”
“Well it’s seems that “Riah’s new mommy” forgot she was pregnant when she was taking shots at the club.” You pulled out your phone and showed Jack the picture. His eyes widened and he looked up at Tori.
“Jack it’s not what it looks like! That was just water!” Tears welled in her eyes.
“Cut the bullshit Tori.” You crossed you arms.
“Jack I’m sorry, I just love you so much and I don’t want to lose you!” He walked up to her.
“So you thought faking a pregnancy was the best way to show that??”
“I’m sorry-“
“Get the hell out of my sight. Don’t ever come near me or my family again or I’ll get a restraining order on your crazy ass.” You laughed making her attention turn to you.
“You think this shit is so funny don’t you?” She started walking towards you.
“Yeah actually I do, your desperateness is quite hilarious.” She was inches away from your face.
“You know what I think is funny?” You tilted your head up.
“Your ugly ass daughter.” Your fist tightened and the vein in your head looked as if it could pop. Tori tried to walk away but was yanked to the ground by her hair.
“Oh shit.”
Jack ran over to you trying to pull you off of her. Of course you managed to get some good hits in before getting yanked off by Jack.
His hands strongly held onto your waist.
“Let me go!” Tori got up off the ground catching a couple drips of blood from her mouth.
“Jack let me go, she’s not gonna talk about our daughter like that!!” You fought against Jack making his grip tighten.
“Stop Y/N, it’s not worth it.” The hotel security came up to assess the issue.
“Get her the hell outta here.” The security nodded and grabbed Tori by the arm.
“You crazy bitch!”
“I’ll show you crazy if you ever speak of my daughter again!!” You yelled back at her as she left the building. Jack’s grip loosened but still held you to prevent any last minute attempts at violence.
“Hey it’s okay.” Your attention was still focused on the entrance of the building, fuming at the confrontation.
“You got her mama bear.” He snickered and turned your head towards him with his hands.
“Any marks?” He examined your face.
“Nah ma she didn’t lay a hand on you.”
You let out a deep breath.
“I’m sorry, I should have listened to you.”
“Yeah you should have. Keep that in mind the next time I get a feeling about something.”
He snickered and took in your features.
“Not gon lie, that was hot.” You scoffed and he leaned down to place a kiss on your lips. “I love you.”
“I love you too. No more bullshit right?” You looked at him with a serious expression.
“Actually I got a son with this other chick.” Your face was unamused.
“Don’t fucking play with me.” His arm wrapped around your shoulder and kissed your head. “Nah I’m just kidding.”
You pushed him away and walked towards the elevator.
“You play too damn much.” He chuckled then ran to catch up to you.
Unfortunately Jack couldn’t prolong his tour any longer, meaning he wouldn’t see you and Riah for a while.
“Do you have to go?” Tears rolled down Riah’s cheeks.
“I do princess, I’m sorry. But I’ll call you and mommy everyday. And soon we’ll see about bringing you and mommy to live with me.” Her face perked up making you smile.
“Don’t you have something to give daddy Ri?” She gasped and reached in her pocket for the gift.
“I made this for you!” She handed Jack a beaded bracelet that had a letter R and your initial on it. “So we’ll always be with you!”
His lip lightly quivered and his eyes saddened. “Thank you princess.”
Neelam peaked her head off the bus. “Boys we gotta go.” He nodded.
“Alright give me a hug!” Riah ran in his arms and hugged him tight.
“What about my hug?!” Urban threw his hands up making Riah run to him after being set down. Jack walked up to you.
“I’m gonna miss you.” You wrapped your arms around his neck.
“Imma miss you too ma. I’ll see you soon tho.” You leaned in and whispered in his ear.
“When you get back we can make baby number two.” His eyes widened and you smirked.
“Shit I’ll cancel the whole damn tour right now.” You giggled and kissed his lips. You tried to pull away but he pulled you in for another kiss.
“Yuck…” Urban fake gagged making you and jack laugh. Riah ran up to you and you picked her up.
“Love you girls.”
“We love you too!” The boys got on the bus and pulled off as you and Riah waved.
Riah’s expression saddened. “We’ll see him soon babe.” She nodded.
“Now let’s go, grandma made dinner!”
Bonus:
1 1/2 Years Later
You and Riah were now in living with Jack and you couldn’t have been happier. He called you two everyday while he was away and every once in awhile flew you out to whatever extravagant place he was at. He kept his promise and didn’t let his career come in between you guys. Eventually the media found out about you and Riah, due to Jack coming clean about hints that were in the air. They had a mostly positive outlook, not that you cared.
“Mommy look!” Riah ran into the kitchen to show you her drawing. You looked down from your cooking and smiled.
“Wow that’s really good babe! You should show daddy.” Her eyes lit up and Jack walked into the kitchen. “Daddy, daddy look!”
She ran up to him and he crouched to her level.
“This is amazing Ri! I might have to use it for my album cover.” She smiled brightly then went back to coloring.
Jack walked up behind you and placed his hands on your baby bump. “Smells good ma.”
“Thank you, it’ll be ready soon.” He spun you around and looked at you.
“What?”
“Nothing, just taking you in. I didn’t get to see you like this the first time. You’re so beautiful.”
Your cheeks flushed and you gave him a kiss. The two of you giggled after pulling away.
“I can’t wait to see how you handle a newborn.”

dinner date || c.b.
summary: after a couple of mistaken food deliveries, colby finally takes it upon himself to invite you over for dinner.
imagine colby is still in an apartment, but much less of a recluse.
you and colby had been neighbors for a few months now. you’d seen each other in passing, coming and going at different times of day. you’d run into each other at the mail boxes, or he’d stop to say hi during his walks when he saw you with your dog. your dog he actually knew a little bit better than you, as he would sometimes talk to him while sitting out on the balcony.
you came home one afternoon, after running some errands, when you saw a Chipotle bag outside your front door.
“i don’t even eat chipotle.” you thought to yourself before leaning down to pick it up. you read the tag and saw that it had colby’s name on it. you picked it up and walked it over to his door.
“hey (y/n)! what’s up?” he asked after answering the door.
“lunch time?” you asked handing him the bag. “i guess they got the numbers mixed up again.”
“oops, sorry about that.” he said, taking the bag from you.
“no worries, it’s not your fault. i’m just glad it wasn’t someone all the way across the complex this time.” you laughed.
“yeah, that was an adventure trying to find those people.” he agreed.
“well, hope you enjoy your lunch. have a good rest of your day.” you said, giving him a wave before walking back to your apartment.
this slowly became a tradition of yours, the other having to take numerous food deliveries to the other’s apartment. it was probably once every few weeks, sometimes a whole month between, but it was funny nonetheless. as doordash and postmates continuously got new drivers, you didn’t mind the mix ups, especially considering you and colby were directly next door.
one night in particular, you came home to a very large number of bags at your door step. you recognized the smell to be chinese food, and it made your stomach rumble. you double checked the receipt to make sure you knew where you were taking it. you picked up the bags and walked over to colby’s, lightly kicking the door, since your hands were full.
“dinner time.” you said, lifting up the bags.
“god dammit, i was really hoping this one wouldn’t get delivered to your door. i went a little overboard tonight.” he said, his cheeks flushing, embarrassed by the amount of bags you had to take over to him.
“no worries.” you said as he grabbed the bags from you. “i hope you enjoy. it smells really good.”
“yeah, it’s from that new place that just opened up by the walmart.”
“oh, yeah! i remember seeing the menu when they brought them by. they did have a lot of really good sounding entrees.” you said.
“hey, you wanna join me for dinner? like i said, i went a little overboard and there’s plenty to share.” he said. “you can bring your dog over if you don’t wanna leave him alone.”
“would you mind if i feed him over here? he hasn’t had dinner yet.” you asked, and he shook his head.
“not at all. we can all enjoy dinner together.” he said. you gave him a smile and nodded.
“then we’d love to join you for dinner. we’ll be right over.” you said.
“perfect. i’ll set the table.” colby flashed you a smile before going back inside. you walked back over to your apartment, grabbing your dog, his bowl, and some food. you walked with him back to colby’s apartment. you got your dog set up for dinner, and you joined colby at the table to eat.
you and colby ended up enjoying a nice and peaceful dinner together, getting to know each other much deeper than surface level.
he told you all about him and sam and what they do as paranormal investigative youtubers, why they decided to move out of LA and to las vegas instead. you told him about your job and your further career aspirations. you told each other jokes, shared stories about your families and friends. even shared a few embarrassing drunk stories of nights out at house parties and clubs.
it wasn’t often you opened up to someone in this capacity, especially someone that you barely knew. but something about the energy that colby radiated that made you so inexplicably comfortable. it was as if the two of you had been best friends for years, the way that you spoke with each other.
this evening was shaping up to be the start of what you hoped turned out to be a great friendship

Treat You Better
summary: you're falling for Nate, but believe he likes Bronwyn instead
warning: yelling at home? Tiny bit of angst?
A/n: I am so so sorry this took me so long to write @mangardel! I haven't edited it yet sorry, so please let me know if it's ok!
Tumblr media
More yelling. That's how it always was. You turned the horror movie in front of you up, half listening to it, half listening to Nate.
“Fuck, it was so funny when Bronwyn first saw this movie, she couldn't even watch it! Apparently she doesn't appreciate a good jump scare”
“Haha, I mean they can be scary though” You gave a response, but your heart sank further. You'd been friends with Nate for years, he was there for you when shit went down, and you were there for him when he had to deal with it all too. But lately you'd been feeling the distance between you grow, making your heart hurt as you realized he didn't love you back. For ages you'd felt he was in love with Bronwyn, and the more he talks about her, the more you felt you had no chance. Why bother calling him when he want's nothing to do with you?
“y/n?”
“hmm?”
“You've been silent for a while, where'd your sarcastic commentary go?” The teasing in his voice reassured you, but still you felt distant. But it was better to have him as a friend than not at all. You commented throughout the movie until you eventually ended the call to sleep. Maybe tomorrow would be better.
“This fucking sucks Rojas!”
“What do you mean?” Nate didn't bother saying hello, just barged into the conversation with Bronwyn as they waited for the rest of the so called murder club to arrive.
“It's y/n, she's driving me fucking nuts! You're a girl-”
“woman”
“-so tell me, why does she seem so on and off. It's like, we're best friends, then the next day she won't even answer my calls? I don't get her.”
“Well, have you spoken to her about how you feel?”
“huh, good one. Why ruin the thing we have? It's obvious she isn't into me” With a loud snort, Bronwyn fell off her seat.
“Are you kidding me? She's falling for you! Not even, she's already fallen! Are you so oblivious?”
“Oh shit. Really?”
“Yes dumbass!”
Another night, another fight. You'd called Nate to watch a movie with you, hoping for some distraction from the noises in your house, but he never answered. Sighing, you turned on your laptop, settling on the first sad looking romance movie you could find, only to hear your phone chime.
I'm out the front on my bike. Sneak out.
You fought yourself internally. Why meet him if he couldn't even answer a call? But also, anything had to be better than being alone right now.
As you snuck up the drive way, he tossed you his helmet. Clearly he was trying to get you out of there fast. Shit, he must've heard the yelling, you thought as he started the drive. After a while, he pulled into a small park.
“You always wanted to go to a park at night right?” You laughed at the memory of telling him, as he offered you his hand before pulling you toward the swings. Rolling your eyes, you took the swing to the left, taking the earbud he silently held out to you. The first few beats of the song filled your ears.
“I want you to listen to these lyrics ok? Really listen to them” You hadn't ever heard Nate so serious about a song, but still you listened closely, even though you knew all the words. By the second verse, Nate had caught your eyes, as if he was singing the song to you.
I'll stop time for you
the second you say you'd like me to
I just wanna give you the loving that you're missing
baby just to wake up with you
would be everything I need and this could be so different
tell me what you want to do
You pulled away, staring at the ground. What did this mean? This was all too much, too kind. You forced yourself to remember that he liked Bronwyn, not you. But just as you thought that, he was in front of you, offering his hand.
Give me a sign
take my hand, we'll be fine
promise I won't let you down
As you stood, holding his hand, he mumbled the lyrics to you.
Just know that you don't
have to do this alone
promise I'll never let you down
You didn't know you had needed to cry, but as a tear fell on your cheek, Nate stepped closer, brushing it away. He looked deep in your eyes, as you glanced to his lips, then back at him. He did the same, silently asking permission. Cupping your cheek, he tilted your head towards his, as he lent down, grazing his lips against yours. As he went to pull away, you reached up, running a hand through his hair, pulling him back for a searing kiss. Time seemed to freeze, the moment stood still and the song ended. He pulled away.
“Y/n. I, fuck. I really like you. Like, incredibly like you, which sounds silly and childish, but I don't know how else to say it. I care about you, y/n. A lot. Please know that. Bronwyn told me today that I was an idiot for not noticing you felt the same, so when you called, I knew I had to see you. It's not just something you say over the phone, you know?” Running a hand through his hair, you could tell he still felt nervous admitting this. You brushed a kiss to his cheek before responding.
“I really like you too Nate, I have done for years. I should’ve said something earlier but I was always too scared. Plus, I thought you liked Bronwyn.”
“What? No, Bronwyn is just a friend. I have and always will care about you y/n”
With a soft hand on you chin, he lifted your mouth to meet his.
