I dont think you meant to give me an opportunity to talk about dogman but im here anyway (the perils of being a leafcabbage mutual) you might know this already but the premise of the comics is that they're being written by two 5th graders (who are learning about classic books. so some dog man books are called things like "Mothering Heights" and "Tale of Two Kitties") so a dogs head being sewn to a man's body because they're both dying is like average 10 year old boy storytelling lol. dav pilkey (dog man and captain underpants author) has such a good idea of how kids Are and I love it

on many levels the captain underpants series was so good!! adhd/dyslexia rep, approachable, genuinely funny, and so so absurd,, for me it was right as schools/librarians were pushing the "graphic novels are novels" message which i know was/still is a big deal for a lot of kids..

anyways my dav pilkey story is that i got to meet him at 18 as a college freshman and tell him how much i loved his books and that i thought it was really cool harold married a man and now i have a signed full-color copy of the first captain underpants book
