obikin rough draft fic excerpt (abo)
Here, have some tattooed omega!Obi-Wan. Someday I will fill it out and complete it. Maybe, lol.
Oh, and in case you didn’t catch it in the post title, this is A/B/O. There’s nothing explicit in this excerpt, though.
*
It's not that Anakin's looking, alright.
But when Obi-Wan strips off his under-tunic after their lengthy sparring session, Anakin's attention is possibly a little bit more drawn to the movement than it should be.
And it’s why he spots the mark on Obi-Wan’s flushed skin. The mark is palm-sized, a murky whorl of sooty, ashen color blossoming across his ribs too nicely to be a bruise.
"I didn’t know you had tattoos,” Anakin says, gesturing to the blooming color there.
Obi-Wan follows his hand movement and lifts up his arm to look at the space below it. “I - don’t.”
*
"Is it contagious?" Ahsoka asks, once Obi-Wan's returned from the Halls of Healing. "Because Rex said you can catch a fungus if you don't wear shoes in the showers."
“Ahsoka,” Anakin says.
“No, young one. I don’t think it’s contagious,” Obi-Wan patiently answers.
“Is it because you’re an omega?” Ahsoka asks.
“Ahsoka!” Anakin hisses.
“I shouldn’t think so,” Obi-Wan says, bemused, then draws a small datapad from his robes. “At any rate, Healer Che asked me to monitor the condition with daily stills.”
Anakin frowns, and he’s fixed on the tablet in Obi-Wan’s hand when the terrible, horrible offer just spills right out of his terrible, horrible mouth, “I could help you. Take the stills, I mean. It’s in a weird spot, so it might be hard to get the angle right.”
Obi-Wan stares at him, and Ahsoka does, too, and this is how it starts.
Day 1
“No changes,” Anakin says.
Obi-Wan snorts, tugging his tunic back into place and taking the datapad from Anakin’s hands. “It’s been less than a day since the onset.”
He follows Obi-Wan out of the ‘fresher and into the small living space. It’s a lot neater these days, now that Anakin’s moved out and taken his mess with him. His scent, too.
Now, Obi-Wan’s scent permeates every inch of the place, fresh and clean and undeniably omega. Something in him – a little ugly, a little primal – is urging him to leave his mark, run his hands over every surface and claim this place as his own, again.
He doesn’t, of course. Obi-Wan would pitch a fit. But if Anakin maybe smooths the tips of his fingers down the front door as he leaves, well, what’s the harm in that.
Day 4
Obi-Wan frowns. “Does it look darker to you?”
Anakin leans over his shoulder and peers down at the datapad in Obi-Wan’s hands, where a procession of images is pulled up on its screen. He shrugs. “Not really?”
Day 9
“I’m not sure how to say this--” Anakin starts, watching from the door as Obi-Wan fold ups his tunic and sets it near the sink.
“Then you should just say it,” Obi-Wan says.
“--I think it’s spreading,” Anakin finishes.
Obi-Wan stills, meeting his eyes in the mirror. “Are you quite sure?”
Anakin brushes his elbow, directing him, and Obi-Wan lifts up his arm to a horizontal plane. The position, they’ve found, least distorts the shape of the mark. He regards it, the dark smudge on Obi-Wan’s pale, muscled flesh.
Before, he could have covered it up entirely with his palm. Anakin holds his hand over the mark, not touching but close enough to feel whisper soft vellus hair when Obi-Wan pulls in a particularly deep breath.
Now, the cloud of black and gray has extended well past his fingertips, blossoming across the side of Obi-Wan’s ribcage, creeping towards the front of his body.
“Well?” Obi-Wan asks, above him.
Anakin straightens up. “It’s definitely spread.”
“And your method of measurement was what, your hand?” Obi-Wan asks, mildly.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Anakin shoots back. “Did you have a ruler laying around?”
Day 13
“You look terrible,” he says, breezing into Obi-Wan’s quarters.
Obi-Wan sighs, close behind him, and Anakin can feel the heat of it brush the back of his neck.
Day 14
“Oh,” Anakin says, when the door opens.
The scent of oncoming heat is unmistakable, and it’s overpowering, and it hits him with enough force to send him shuffling back a step.
If Obi-Wan had looked terrible yesterday, he looks even worse today. There are deep shadows under his eyes, his hair limp across his brow, and his clothes are damp with sweat.
“It’s best we didn’t today,” Obi-Wan says, finally.
“Right,” Anakin says, voice rough like it’s been dragged over gravel. “Is - can I get you anything before I go?”
Obi-Wan smiles tightly. “No, thank you, Anakin. I will see you in a few days.”
Anakin doesn’t even get the chance to say goodbye before the door is sliding shut in his face. It sends a billowing waft of something that feels like, well, like untouched, unmated, unprotected, into the hallway, and Anakin holds his breath while he walks away.
Day 15
Obi-Wan will be livid if he finds out, Anakin thinks, as he slips the glove off his right hand and steps up to the door, sometime in the dark, early hours of the morning.
He runs both hands – organic and prosthetic – over every surface of the door’s control panel. The transparisteel display screen, the durasteel plating, the rubber-padded plastoid buttons, even the sharp edges where the box itself is bracketed to the wall.
After he’s satisfied with the way his scent has shrouded the doorway, he pulls his glove back on and leaves.
Day 21
“Master Obi-Wan is here!”
Anakin rolls his shoulders to ease the achiness there. He’s been hunched over his mechnoarm for the last hour, at least, trying to reconnect a fragile strand of loose wiring.
“Having trouble?” Obi-Wan asks.
He glances up from the needle-nose pliers lodged in his wrist. Obi-Wan looks better, well-rested, he supposes, and a lot less…sweaty. “It’s fine,” he says. “Just give me a minute, then we can go do the thing.”
Obi-Wan takes the seat across from him, brow raised. “The thing?”
“The picture thing,” Anakin tacks on.
“About that,” Obi-Wan says. “I think we ought to do the thing, as you say, here, for the time being. My quarters – well –”
“Your quarters, what?” Anakin asks. “Smell bad?”
“Yes, Anakin, my quarters smell bad.”
“I guarantee they don’t smell as bad as you think they do,” Anakin says, just to push him, just a bit.
Day 28
Obi-Wan touches little in their quarters and never stays long enough to leave much of a trace, but it must leave something. Ahsoka’s nose crinkles every time she walks through the door.
Day 32
“Well,” Anakin says, powering down the datapad and setting it on the cluttered sink. “I took five stills this time. To get everything.”
Obi-Wan exhales. He moves away from Anakin, then, and reaches for his tunic. The movement twists and pulls at the grayscale whorls spiraling out over his side, down his abdomen, and his entire left pectoral.
Faint, fine lines and the lightest shading spill out across his skin around the edges of the marking, but it’ll be swallowed up by darker color soon enough, if this thing keeps up, keeps spreading.
As it stands, it’s a hair’s breadth away from the cleft of his spine, and Anakin watches the muscled flex of his back as Obi-Wan slides his tunic back over his head.
*
Anakin’s known from the start that Obi-Wan sends off the holostills to Master Che every day-cycle. What she does with them – or doesn’t do with them, since it’s not like she’s figured it out yet – really isn’t Anakin’s business.
So he is well aware he’s not the only one to see the monochrome tendrils creeping across Obi-Wan’s skin. And, he realizes in a numb but sudden sort of way, it bothers him utterly that there are others who do.
The feeling makes itself known when Anakin happens across Che and Jocasta Nu and Nu’s padawan in the library later that afternoon, grouped around a computer terminal, studying his still of Obi-Wan’s body.
“Exquisite,” Nu says, and her gnarled finger raises up to trace across the screen one of the swooping lines on Obi-Wan’s right oblique. “Simply exquisite. I have never seen anything like it.”
Che sighs. “Nor have I. That is the problem.”
“I shall begin my research straight away, Vokara,” Nu says, resolved. “You will keep me apprised of any changes to Master Kenobi’s condition?”
“Of course. Thank you, Master Nu.”
The old librarian turns to her padawan, then. “And what do you make of this, boy?”
The boy shrugs, edging closer to the screen. “No clue. It’s pretty, though.”
Hidden away in the shadows of a towering bookstack, Anakin bites hard into the spongy flesh of his cheek, prosthetic knuckles whirring from the strain of his tightening fist.
Day 35
It’s been two weeks since Obi-Wan’s heat ended, more than enough time for the scent of it to air out and fade away. Still, Anakin leaves Obi-Wan’s quarters with the urge to claw out of his own skin.
Day 40
“Knight Skywalker.”
“Master Che,” he replies, scowling at her retreating back as the healer glides down the hall and out of sight.
“There’s been a development,” Obi-Wan says.
Anakin meets Obi-Wan’s flinty blue gaze. “I’m guessing it’s not a good one, then.”
Day 42
The markings on Obi-Wan’s legs are even more remarkable the third day he sees them.
A couple days ago, the lines had been faint, like the lightest press of graphite on a piece of flimsi. The markings had barely shown up in the stills he’d taken, and he’d had to mess with the datapad settings before Obi-Wan had sent them off to Master Che.
Today, though.
Today, the lines are the deepest shade of black, heavy and wide. They curve in on one another, then cleave apart, and splinter off into webs of thinner, still defined lines. From the curl of Obi-Wan’s toes to the knobby bones of his ankles and kneecaps, all the way up to the mid-center of his thighs, he is covered.
It’s so unlike the chaotic, celestial explosions swallowing up the surfaces of his torso and back. There’s a pattern here in these new markings, maze-like in their design. They’re mirror images, or pretty damn close, on Obi-Wan’s right and left legs.
“And this all appeared overnight?” Anakin asks, a little breathless.
“Essentially,” Obi-Wan says, eventually. “Are we finished?”
Obi-Wan shifts where he’s prone on the couch, and the hard muscles in his calves flutter and bulge, just a fraction of a second, really, but Anakin notices, crouched at Obi-Wan’s side and entirely too close.
Anakin’s brain stutters for a moment. “What?”
“The pictures, Anakin,” Obi-Wan says. “Are we done?”
“Oh.” Anakin looks down at the glowing datapad, lax in his grip.

How did you make your edits for the Austin Moon stuff?
hello bobby lol thank you for the ask!!! um my explaination is going to lack technical terms because i kind of just go with whatever looks right as i edit (hence some inconsistencies) but hopefully this makes sense.
to start: i do all the editing on my phone with the apps pixlr and proknockout. both are free, though they have a quite a bit of ads—they get the job done. additionally, all the original photos either came from ross lynch’s or laura marano’s instagram or a lot of google searching for the perfect picture
now the concepts for the playlists as fake albums came from me rewatching austin & ally this year and being like “wHAT HAPPENED IN THE TIME SKIP???” yknow those years between ally giving austin her book and them being on the helen show? yeah. i was like “what happened?!? i need to know” and originally i was thinking of a fic but i started also getting into the driver era and thus i thought up “what if like... austin moon had other albums?!” cos we kind of just know of his first album in canon. and then it extended to “hOLY MOLY WHAT ABOUT THEIR DUO ALBUM?!?” anyways that’s way more backstory so onto the edits
WiLdHeArT
okay so this was the simplest of the edits. basically i took this photo:
cropped it into a square, played around with some of the exposure and such to make ross look less washed out, and then rotated the image and put some text over it. the font is provided with pixlr and i chose it because it conveys how i’d kind of imagine austin moon’s handwriting. the “album” itself was meant to have a very personal/authentic aspect so i thought it fit.
for the back cover/track listing, i took this photo:
and used proknockout to crop out ross. then in pixlr, i layered it over a solid background, with some rotation. add some filters, played with lighting, then blurred the whole image before adding the text on top. definitely one of the more rushed back cover edits.
ECLIPSE
okay so i had fun with this! the front cover comes from this original photo from some magazine shoot the driver era did (i think it was MOOD but i can’t remember)
this “album” was intended to capture a darker side to austin moon’s music and i really love ross’ harley hair so i had to go with brunet ross lynch. in pixlr i cropped to a square, did a lot of filtering to have cooler tones (matching the darker feel of the playlist) and then played with a filter that adjusts texture. after that, i layered the image over itself with adjustments to size and position to get that distorted effect. then i added the font and such lol
for the back cover the original came from pexels which is a royalty/copyright free image site
basically to match the title i wanted to utilize an eclipse image. i played around a lot with how i wanted the track listing to be. eventually i figured it out, put the text down with pixlr, and then played with filter and exposure and such to get the bluish glow that matches the front cover edit along with a warmer tone for the background. then i used a filter that inverted the colors to get the contrasting blue-black side. then i used proknockout’s collage option to put the two together—kind of to convey the crossing-paths aspect of an eclipse.
last step was going back into pixlr and if you look closely, it’s not just a solid background. it actually has several lines of the text “there’s no way i could make it without you do it without you be here without you” which is an oblivious reference to the austin & ally theme song. it’s meant (in this au of sorts) to be austin giving recognition to ally’s impact in his life and career on an album that marks a step away from his past. ANYWAYS! the text just has very very low opacity to make it blend better.
where you are
this one i think i had the most fun and the most trouble with because i could NOT find a nice image of both ross and laura. thus i had to search to find the right images. bc tumblr is limiting me to 10 images total on this, i’m only including one of the two images of laura i used. they’re both from the same photo shoot and screenshots from one of her recent instagram posts. the images of ross/base photos for the edits came from the driver era instagram.
okay so front cover edit took this phot of laura:
and used proknockout to crop her out of the background. then i used pixlr to layer it into this image of ross to kind of make it appear as if she’s standing behind the piano:
which you can see in the final edit! then i layered black squares, erasing majority of their inside, to get those black frames throughout the edit. finally i added text. originally I had a logo concept for austin & ally but then thought the simple font looked much better for the concept of the album—which was meant to convey their maturity as artists. also played around with the coloring and shadows and exposure.
finally for the back cover, i cropped this image (sorry rocky):
and used proknockout to take an image of laura sitting and layer it onto the driver era image. then i played with some exposure and filters to get laura’s lighting to match that of the original image. after realising the pic of laura was way higher in quality than ^this, i blurred it A LOT. then i used the same technique with the black squares, only this time lowering the opacity a bit. then i went with a font that was a bit more playful to set up the track listing. “two in a million” was left as a bonus track since it’s not on the playlist because it’s not on spotify.
and yeah! that’s how the edits were done! they were honestly a lot of fun and sparked by the playlists i made towards the beginning of this year. they all had a few different versions LOL but anyways, thank you for asking! i had fun sharing and i hope you enjoyed the playlists, the edits, and/or this explaination! sorry it’s not too technical!
#askbobby-t-wilson#mutuals#i dont have a tag for asks so i guess i’ll make it this#my writing#using the tiny font to save space on the internet lol#long post

My Friend has been Falsely Accused of Tracing So I Will Defend Him
Okay I accidentally deleted the blog I posted this one because I’m a dumbass, so I’ll just repost it here even though I don’t use this blog anymore, but apparently I still have followers. Bless caches because I was able to get this back from google caches so I don’t have to retype everything. I added further evidence and refutes to claims that were not in my original post btw.
Anyways, I am making this post to help out my good friend @5ru9 aka Falco who has been recently accused of tracing/copy pasting other people’s / official art!
I’ve known Falco for over 3 years, and we’ve grown as artists together. Once in a while we give each other advice on art (thanks for the mech and armor advice and teaching me how you line and color!), but most of the time we just meme each other.
Anyways, a lot of people have pointed out that they’ve seen him livestream before, and he’s already posted some of his block outs and other wips as proof that he does not trace in his post here:
http://5ru9.tumblr.com/post/168277137427/hello-i-have-been-informed-about-a-callout-post
To further prove his claim with solid evidence, I shall present to you!
Times he’s asked for advice on his art, or I randomly decided to mention things I notice in his WIPs!
Exhibit A-1:
A Tenkai Knight he made up! I pointed out a few things I thought were awkward about the perspective in his WIP.
Exhibit A-2:
He started working on this way back in July and didn’t finish it until much later because he was working on several other pieces at the same time. I suggested lowering the eyebrows and drawing the eyes a bit narrower to get more of the playful expression he was aiming for. In his final piece here, you can see that Falco continued to refine the piece.
By the way! The reason he sometimes posts a lot of detailed artworks one shortly after the other is because he sometimes works on multiple pieces at once! And then finishes coloring them around the same time.
Exhibit A-3
Falco and I spent good time trying to figure out why he felt like something was wrong with his sketch! I thought maybe it was the trapezius and I decided to red line (or blue line i guess) it so it’d be easier for him to see approximately where i thought the line should go to fix it.
Exhibit A-4:
The gif-ing process turned white bg into blue… anyways! Falco showed me an early version of his Tenkai Knights OC that he eventually used in an April Fool’s joke to pass off as a new character in the series. He mastered the tenkai style enough that at first glance, people really did believe it was official! Like you had to get a good look to realize Shiyu was not really a real new character! Btw I had to go into my old twitter acc to find this…. (Edit: the gif wasn’t working bc it was too big so i had to make it smaller… and choppier and stuff to fit the mb max)
Well now that brings us into!!!
Exhibit B
Some of his old art!! (I’m so sorry falco i’ll be exposing your ancient art to ppl now)
Here you can see his progress from 2014 Tenkai fan art to early 2015! It starts looking more and more like the official art, which is what he was going for.
For reference, here’s what the character Ceylan Jones/Washizaki looks like:
I blocked out fan art by everyone except falco (which i marked) that shows up in this google search. Everything else is official art. The two fan arts by falco you see here are more recent, the angel one being from 2016 and the chicken one from 2017 (i think he also made a version with sonic instead of the chicken? lol). They’re both on his dA accounts btw! The 2017 one really looks like official art, doesn’t it? But it’s his artwork! He practiced a LOT to reach that point, and I hope the earlier arts I showed above this one are enough to convince you in his art progression! Side note: i only used images w/ceylan because 1. i’m biased because ceylan is my favorite character and 2. he drew ceylan a lot because ceylan is his favorite character Also you can see his handle change from s3iwashi to burningbraven. 5ru9 is is a pretty recent handle.
ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN IN THE TENKAI FANDOM FOR A WHILE CAN VOUCH FOR HIM!!!!!
And now for the last one,
Exhibit C
WHAT? WHO IS THIS???
This is my favorite character from a Chinese series called AOTU World! His name is Grey, or 格瑞。I commissioned Falco to draw Grey for me, and let me tell you it would be IMPOSSIBLE for him to have copied any of this. Why? Because the donghua is 3D and the manhua’s art is very inconsistent!
Let me show you the reference pictures I gave him to work with!
They’re all in my gdrive folder here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CqwH5KS-pHX0ZqLHQpoIZBi6W-gsU_Tz
This is all official art from the manhua, except the 3D model is from the donghua. Look at how inconsistent the references are! There’s no way he could have copy and pasted or traced this! Grey doesn’t even do this particular pose anywhere. lol. I told Falco “give him a cool sword pose”. (I’m sorry for being so vague, Falco! But it turned out great!!) The style he ended up drawing in was a mixture of all of them.
Btw!! here’s the blockout and the sketch he sent me before I sent my payment for the commission!! You can see his construction in the block out!! The arm construction and leg construction is light, but it’s there. You can also see the block out below the sketch. Notice he actually fixed the leg length from block out -> sketch?
ARGUMENTS AGAINST SPECIFIC ACCUSATIONS
LOOK, thte actual drawing doesn’t even match the sprites that closely. Pay attention to the collar especially. The whole frankensteining the image and then painting over it thing is just way more effort than drawing it himself. They don’t even match that well in the overlays. Like wow it’s such a crime to try and stay on model.
WHO WOULD EVEN NEED TO TRACE A MOUTH LIKE THAT? IT’S SO EASY TO DRAW. I CAN DRAW IT PERFECTLY JUST BY LOOKING AT IT. (well i AM an animator so I also do style mimicking)
Doesn’t the fact that you have to edit the sprites to match his artwork prove that you’re just a tryhard in making up fake evidence and not a tryhard enough at art since you think it’s so impossible for people to draw characters on model?
Yes he referenced the broom and possibly the heels from this image, but your overlays for the leg and arms are disingenuous and you know it. The leg positions are different, and the overlay doesn’t even match up. Face tracing also makes no sense. You literally stretched the mouth to try and make it fit but it still doesn’t fit. Do you really think it’s that hard to draw mouths and eyes in the DR style? DR faces are really simple to emulate. Also you fool, if you follow Falco’s artwork enough, you’d realize the way he draws bodies is actually rather consistent even as he does different styles. Especially when it comes to hands. His way of drawing hands is how I recognize his art and know right away it’s his art and not official art or a trace (also his coloring style). The heels he drew are also reminiscient of how he typically draws shoes/feet. he draws them bulkier. The other art has dainty heels. At most he referenced how backside works because he’s used to drawing sneakers.
Also come on, if all you referenced from an image was a broom because you liked the style (his is also clearly drawn by himself since you can’t overlay it on the other one. like i said he mostly used the style as a reference for how-to-broom) and you referenced pieces from many other images, are you going to list every single thing you referenced? While yeah it’d be nice to, it’s a little ridiculous to expect all 5-20 references whenever they post the image. It’s a thing where, if someone asks, you’d tell them, but it’s too much to list all of it. This isn’t a 20 page thesis.
If it’s such a crime, then holy shit sue all those people who parody other people’s comics and sue everyone who dares!!! to ever draw something remotely similar to someone else. Dang.
Art doesn’t live in a vacuum.
Okay, this one is just plain stupid. You distorted the sprite to match it up with his, but what would be the point for him to distort it just to trace? Also if he traced, can you explain the rest of the fingers that are drawn nicely but clearly different from the sprite? Also the thumbs don’t even match up. His faces more downward while the sprite is facing more forward. Also explain the turned body in Falco’s sketch, then!! And the hair! OH WAIT YOU CAN’T EXPLAIN IT BY ANY OTHER WAY THAN HE DREW IT HIMSELF!!! BECAUSE NO SPRITES MATCH IT AND YOU CAN’T FIND ANY SPRITES TO DISTORT ENOUGH TO EVEN GET CLOSE TO MAKING FAKE EVIDENCE FOR IT.
By the way, the style he drew it in is closer to the drv3 than this sprite. while it’s pretty much the same style as the older games, drv3′s art is more refined than the older games. Falco’s art is also more refined as you can see. (wow not only did falco’s art improved from back when we first met; even professional artists improve. shocker. /s)
Dude what the hell? The overlays don’t even match up even ifi you tried to frankenstein them. And these are really common poses at really common angles, and once again, must every single thing we reference from be listed in the description of every place we post an image? Let me just list all 30 videos and 50 images i used as reference for one of my prints. jfc.
As for the saihara animation based on the digimon opening animation? It was pretty clear to everyone that it’s some kind of parody. Many people when making parody animations don’t mention the original video either?? It’s a fun thing for fans of the franchise to recognize the reference themselves. Yes he could have said it was the digimon opening on the description, but at least he didn’t say he thought of the idea himself? And if you talk to him about the animation, he will openly tell you it’s from digimon. And the fact that you think it’s a trace despite how much the overlays do NOT work out is practically proof that you’re just doing this maliciously and hoping that saying he traces enough with shoddy evidence will make people believe you.
ALSO PEOPLE LITERALLY TRACE ANIMATIONS TO MAKE PARODIES OF, DOWN THE STYLE WHERE ALL THEY CHANGE IS THE HAIR AND OUTFIT, AND YET SOMETHING WITH DIFFERENCES EVEN DOWN TO THE STYLE LIKE THIS IS SOMETHING YOU THINK IS A TRACE? Do you need a new pair of glasses?
I was gonna ignore this one because it was the same as a lot of the others, but you literally erased Falco’s face line so it would match the sprite, and you covered the bigger boobs Falco gave her, and totally ignored that the angle doesn’t even match properly. Like you covered parts of his sketch in your overlay just to make it look more like it matches, but if you actually fucking overlayed it correctly, even with squashing it, it won’t fit. (Also sorry to point this out Falco, but the circles on your goggle lenses are too small compared to the sprite; Maybe if you actually traced like this person claims you’re doing, they’d be perfectly like the sprite. OH BUT WAIT YOU DREW IT YOURSELF SO OF COURSE THERE’S SOME DIFFERENCES. JUST LIKE HOW EVEN THOUGH ALL YOUR OTHER WORKS ARE REALLY CLOSE TO THE STYLE AND PRETTY MUCH ON MODEL, THEY’RE NOT EXACTLY THE SAME WITH THE SPRITES! SHOCKER...!)
HOLY FUCK. I already pointed out and gave evidence that Falco started on the Nier Automata drawing waaaaaaay before he posted the actual picture. The 2 sketches are sketches! They don’t take a super long time. I busted out 10 inktobers in 1 day. (thumbnails of my artwork below)
Look I even even lined and colored 5 fairly detailed chibis in 1 day (i did the sketches earlier though. btw i hand drew the plaid on ray. it was annoying)
At the moment I have 5 wips. They’ll likely all be done around the same time. I know Falco often has multiple wips as well, and sometimes he also finishes some of them close to each other. Some artists (like my friend Fish) can pump out extremely detailed paintings in less than a day. WOW some artists can draw at a fairly fast rate. WHO KNEW? (manga artists in weekly magazines pump out 15-20 pages of manga in a week)
He’s still developing a style; he’s mostly doing style mimics of series he likes in the mean time.
At the moment he’s mostly experimenting with the drv3 style, but he was practicing p5 earlier. By the way, he DESIGNED a phantom outfit for mishima. Who the heck would he copy that from? He made it up because he loved mishima and wanted to make him part of the gang in some AU fan art. Mishima doesn’t have artwork like this for him to trace, so it should be obvious it’s his own work.
And the pokemon and crash bandicoot ones are actually not that close. The pokemon one looks like a good attempt at imitating the pokemon style, but since he hasn’t practiced it enough, you can tell it’s a little off model because, well, he drew it himself and doesn’t practice the pokemon style a lot. Same with the crash one. Had it been a trace, with his level of control over his lines (which you can’t refute), it would have been much closer.
And you act like it’s a crime to imitate others’ art style. It’s really not. What is wrong with you? Do you want to slow down animation production by only letting the character designer draw everything? Or do you want animation where the art has 0 semblance of consistency because all the artists draw in vastly different styles? lol. What do you have against artists that try to stay on model?
LOL THIS IS ONE IS SO STUPID WHERE DO I EVEN START?
Oh, I KNOW. Why don’t I do that same pose with my own hands?
IT’S A MIDDLE FINGER, YOU IDIOT.
Just because YOU don’t know basic anatomy and can’t tell a middle finger from a pinky, doesn’t mean everyone else is as incompetent as you. He wasn’t doing the rock-on hand pose (sry idk if that pose actually has a name lol), and he’s drawn the rock-on hand pose properly before.
Closing statement
I believe I covered a lot of things and provided a lot of evidence here that Falco and his other friends did not cover in his defense against the false accusations.
I even added more counter arguments in this repost because apparently my original post wasn’t enough to convince people.
Perhaps the person calling him out meant well (no, I doubt it because they made a new side blog just to diss him because they knew if they did it on their actual blog, they’d be called out for being a jerk), but they did not do enough digging to find out if their claims were true or not (and they probably know well enough that they MADE UP THEIR EVIDENCE).
If you’re going to make a call out post, please make triple sure sure of everything before you accuse people. Talk to them first. Talk to those who know them too.
Many jobs require you to be able to draw characters exactly in the style given. Animators for example! There are multiple animators working on one series, and they all need the skill to draw consistently! Some games also have teams that need to be able to draw in the same style so they don’t have to leave everything up to one person. Comic artists often have assistants that help them draw background characters, but those background characters can’t be too different from the main style either.
As for the people who believed the call out post before, it’s perfectly understandable. I am also guilty of falling for similar posts in the past. Due to that, I decided it was best to double check before retweeting (i say retweet because i use twitter far more than tumblr these days. heck i almost never post anything on this blog) things, and if i wasn’t sure, I would just leave it be.
I hope my post was able to convince you on Falco’s innocence and all his hard work. And if you already believed him but checked out this post anyways… Thanks! ObligatoryPleaseWatchAotuWorld.
And again:
Art does NOT exist in a vacuum. All artists are influenced by each other and MANY artists, especially professionals, use a lot of references, whether it be from photographers, their own pictures, others’ artwork, life, or whatever. We all use many different resources. If you’re going to say that’s wrong, you just dismissed millions of artists in the world.
