It's been a while since i last used this blog for anything cos i stopped thinking about my OCs for a while. BUT i saw this one prompt of "get to know your OCs as 1) a child 2) a teen 3) an adult"
And somehow im just really excited. I have a ton of OCs tbh and nothing will make sense to anyone here since I don't really talk about them they just exist in my head. BUT ANYWAY.
The Very Sorry Series
My most dysfunctional children (affectionate). Conceived when my brain was majorly fucked in one way. (Differently fucked today)
Haley
As a child: Grew up in a villain lair, following her mom around like a terrified duckling, silently absorbing literally everything around her like a sponge
As a teen: academically excellent, incredible at masking already at this point, still largely quiet, mother has lost it and around this point has been instilling in her the idea of Villain Excellence and finishing what her mother started
As an adult: fully functional on the outside and completely dysfuntional on the inside, full on villainy and wrecking shit and getting insanely bruised up but then turning up to her senior management job the next morning with full-face makeup as if there's nothing wrong, all her villain activity are basically dramatic self-harm and suicide attempts (shhhh dont tell anyone that)
Justin
As a child: sunshiney and cute, many kisses to his puffy little cheeks, daring and adventurous, already has powers but no one really figures it out for some reason
As a teen: constantly failing class, trying hard at everything but only thing he is good at are his powers, which he tries not to use all the time. Except there's this villain in town who keeps disturbing the peace... so he steps up once in a while
As an adult: unable to hold a single job or partner, his best friend is his biggest nemesis, he basically borrows her money all the time because he literally cannot hold down the fort by himself, he is beside himself with grief because he doesn't know how he can continue living as someone who basically cannot function in society, despite society needing him to save it
Dave
As a child: high awareness, already noticed a lot of people who treat him like he's stupid (calls him a r*tard), has dyslexia, already liked drawing, had loving parents (oh wow revolutionary) but he kept a lot of things to himself so unresolved issues
As a teen: more drawing, the ArtTM kid, develops intense crushes on the Baddest Girl in school, was a sorta sweater geek, a little bit bullied in school but not target practice, timid but kind, does not see much worth in himself
As an adult: comic book artist, very last-minute with his work, insanely in love with his next door neighbour who can clearly kick his ass (somehow gets even more obsessed with her after finding her bleeding out in villain costume), still timid and still kind, still near zero self-worth
Kirsten
As a child: knew she was trans, very oddball and offputting child, would eat bugs and is fascinated with all those "horrible history" books and stuff like that
As a teen: crazy vibes, people steered clear away from her, knew of haley and thought she was your average top scorer, beginning to dabble in tons of home experiments and stuff, halfway through transition but also uhhh it's almost all home-made or villain-adjacent-sourced
As an adult: transitioned and incredibly happy with all the self-modifications she's done, is The Villain Scientist (you cant be in the villain industry and not know her), weirdly enough the most functional person in this series because at least she has no self-harming/deprecating behaviours, very worried about every single one of her friends though because none of them are doing well, still a Weird Girl though
Grown to love water
Conceived during the period I was figuring out asexuality (and looking back, aromanticism), also body negativity stuff. But yeah, my softest most painful boys
Leon
As a child: happy little selkie child, loved by his community, big dreams of going to the surface, a bit of a romantic who dreams of a very traditional selkie romance (all the pelt stuff)
As a teen: first gf! Very nervous and giggly child, things are going well but he slowly gets very insecure about his body which causes him to distance from his gf, gf breaks up with him bc he isnt fulfilling much of her (sexual and emotional) needs and he just keeps backing off
As a young adult: (bc this story goes through a lot of phases) is in the surface world but at what cost? At the peak of his insecurity and low self-worth, hes a round guy (selkie blessings and human... not-so-blessings), awkward nerd, studies marine biology (for some reason??? Idk why, today, i'd say hes a geology major), MAJOR depression, intensely insecure about being a virgin for some reason and would do literally *anything* to lose it (except going out to meet people) until one day he meets a siren and is like: I'll let you eat me if you fuck me
As an older adult: still sorta depressed but he's recovering, no longer a virgin yay, much more secure in himself though, (mostly) knows hes a fricking gem, still chubby (important), also has a beautiful siren sorta-husband??? It's complicated lol but they have rings and stuff
Devon
As a child: smart, pretty, fawned over because hes a rare male siren, smug little bastard who knows he can get away with most things because he's cute
As a teen: started with the siren stuff, majorly fucked up because of that, welp he frequently has pedos for lunch i guess, notices differences between himself and most other people, oh oops! He can't love!, no new connections with others
As a young adult: loves to flirt and fuck around, still knows he can get away with most shit, same major as leon, knows the massive crush Leon has on him and takes advantage of it, a bit frustrated that Leon never rises to the bait so he can't eat him (but only because Leon never thinks the flirting is real), grows a soft spot for Leon as a friend
As an older adult: is leon's sorta-husband, loves Leon in his own way and enjoys the stability that Leon offers, still out there knowing he can get away with most shit, no longer fucking any of the men he eats anymore because he has a very horny selkie to satisfy, would love to be a trophy husband but unfortunately works to pay the rent, very touchy and constantly stirs Leon up on purpose, loves feeling loved

Megumi x FR
•Megumi aged up•
Megumi X Cheerleader
❗Warnings❗{Smut, degradation, hard dom, dacryphilia, spanking, drinking}
A/N: Megumi thinks you're pretty much an airhead since you're a cheerleader so he tries to take advantage of that but ends up falling for you
Your body drops letting him see those tight safety shorts all the cheerleaders wore, it's like you were all made for slutty clothes. It was pretty hot but for some reason he never looked at the other girls, only at you. It was probably because you werent like the others, you were so naive, so innocent and such an airhead. It was fun teasing you, making fun of you for getting simple answers wrong and tugging at your skirt even though you hated it.
"Megumi" he looks up seeing your bright eyes and large smile, "Hey" he says with a nod as you sit down in front of him, "so whatre you doing here?" You ask while opening a bottle of water. "You left this at class" he shows you a white book covered in stickers making you blush beet red. "G-give it!" You rush to grab it but he pulls it back, wrapping his arm around your waist.
So close! Megumi was super good looking! One of the hottest guys at the campus in fact but this wasnt important. "Give it Megumi" you say but he doesnt, only holding you down with a smirk. "I was being nice but now I'm kinda curious" and worry fills your mind. "D-dont" you say but he opens it and looks through the pages.
"What's this?" He asks as he looks through the pages filled with notes and drawings of buildings with measurements, but arent you in arts? He notices you looking away, you gave up? That's weird, you never gave up. "Dont worry about it, its nothing" you say while taking the book back and grabbing your stuff. "See you later" you leave making him shocked, so personal things like that make you pissed? How fun.
"C'mon" his fingers graze against your thigh making you curl up, "Leave me alone" you whisper, your hand pressing against his chest. "Why? You're always flirting with Megumi so why cant I?", "I-I dont flirt with him" you mutter feeling your blood boil. You talked to Megumi yeah, but it was because he was always being a dick or when you needed help with assignments but that was it. "Hey" both of your heads turn and the guy is sent flying across the hall.
"M-megumi" he looks at you with a look hes never given before, worry, "Are you okay?" He asks in a softer voice too. Is he okay? "I'm fine" you whisper, fixing your bag and taking your sweater out of it to wrap around your waist. "What the fuck Megumi" he hears from on the ground, "I may be a douchebag but I'd never touch a girl if she didnt want it" he says then grabs your wrist, pulling you down the hallway. Uh oh.
"You're so fucking stupid" he says as he pushes you into an empty classroom, "So fucking naive and you cant even stick up for yourself" you look down at the floor but he tilts your face up, grabbing your cheeks hard to make you look into his eyes. "When something like that happens do anything to stop it, because if you dont, bad shit will happen and I'm not alw-" he stops but you both know the end of that sentence making you blush a soft pink.
"I'm sorry" you whisper and as your phone buzzes you pull away, "Thank you, if you're still here by six maybe I can take you to eat somewhere" you leave in a rush as he looks at his hand. Hes getting too close, way too close.
You dance to the blaring music, holding a plastic red cup in your hand filled with who knows what. He watches your body move, holding a bottle of beer and listening to Yuji ramble about girls and which ones hed like to sleep with but it was Yuji, he never got any girls unless Sukuna was taking over his body.
"But my first one would have to be Y/N, I mean just look at her, shes got an amazing body and I'd love to hear her scream my name" he clenches the bottle tight feeling his anger build up, almost overflowing but he calms himself down. "Eh, shes not that special, total airhead" he says then leaves to a different room, Yuji could do whatever he wanted, it didn't matter because he didnt like you that way and never would.
He watches as he walks up to you and suddenly hes walking towards you as well. Your eyes glance back slightly shocked as arms slowly wrap around you but your widened eyes soften. "Megumi" he smiles hearing his name come out of your mouth, "Hey Beautiful" and you blush, you've been told it often but the way he said it sounded so meaningful and honestly it was the first time you've ever liked being told it.
Time passes as you both dance and talk, giggles filling whatever silence there is and soon enough you and him are drunk, muttering things into each others ears, sitting on his lap, his hands holding your skirt down to make sure no one sees anything and your arms wrapped around his neck. "Why're you so pretty?" He whispers as he leans into your lips, barely touching them making you slightly mad. You wanted to kiss him but he wouldnt get close enough, wouldnt let you get close enough too and you could feel your need building up.
"You want to kiss me?" he whispers into your ear and you drunkenly nod with a small giggle. "So drunk arent you" you lean into his lips but he stops you, "Gimme a kiss" you mumble but he shakes his head.
"Sorry Princess but you're incredibly drunk and I cant just do that to you" he says, trying to make you feel better but all you do is grumble and whine. You were worked up, he had a massive boner and it got you horny too and all you wanted was to please him.
"Your place or mine?" He asks after some time of walking but finds you asleep, "I guess mine" he says then heads to his.
You nuzzle into his chest as his arms wrap around your body, "Megumi" he looks down but you're still asleep making him smile. You looked so peaceful but the shared smell of liquor was making it less comforting. Maybe he should wake you, it wouldnt be good to sleep like this. But then again you didnt have any clothes and you needed to sleep.
You turn around and his slightly intoxicated self heightens the feeling of you pressed right up against him. He whispers your name into your ear, making your eyes open slightly, "Hm" you hum out, you start sobering up and he whispers something into your ear making you turn red.
"P-pervert" he chuckles as his hand rub your side, you were soft but goosebumps were forming which was cute. So shy and so innocent now that you're sobering up. His eyes close again feeling sleep take over him but your grinding against his crotch keeps him from it. "Stop it" he says but you dont, "Play with me" you mumble and as his hand runs up your body you expect him to tilt your face to kiss you but instead his hand wraps around your neck, grabbing it with a bit of force eliciting a gasp from you.
"Take your clothes off, say Red to stop" he mutters in a lower tone and you nod fast, he sounded irritated and you didnt want to make him angry. Once your clothes are off you look back, turning red, seeing him naked as well with only his hipbone and down covered. He smirks seeing your eyes take in the sight, you knew he worked out but you didnt know he was this strong.
"Want a kiss now?" You nod fast as your eyes shine and he smiles, "Take it then" you rush to kiss him making him chuckle at your eagerness, he pulls you onto his lap, looking up at you slightly as his hands rest on your backside, grinding you against him slowly. Tiny, soft moans escape your mouth feeling his hardness rub between your folds, "Megumi" you whine out into his neck.
"I have con-", "No, want you" his mouth goes dry and he lifts you slightly, "You want me?" He asks earning fast nods. "Like this?" A gasp fills the room as he pushes in a single finger, "N-no, want you" he chuckles against your neck thinking of endless ways to tease you but the main thing he wants is for you to beg so, he doesnt remove his finger, he pushes it in and out slowly, not doing anything only making you angry.
"Please" he leans into your ear and bites it slightly, "What do you want?" You shake your head earning a spank. "Tell me" he says but you shake your head again earning another one making you hiss and whine. "Please Megu- ah!" You cover your mouth as he delivers another spank but it's harder this time.
The process goes on, him asking to barely receive an answer and none are what he wants, he sighs then pulls your hair back as you softly cry, "One last chance" he growls out slightly, "Y-your cock, please" he pulls you down onto him making you whine and sob into his neck.
"Such a naughty girl arent you?" He asks as he guides you on him, you felt like actual Heaven, your insides were nice and tight, warm and you were sucking him in so nicely. You nod as tears fall down your face making him twitch, "Fuck me, you're so perfect" he growls into your ear, insults coming after of him telling you how needy you were, that you were just a hole to him, a cumdump, something to use making more tears fall down your face but you loved it, something about being put down like this made it feel so good.
You move your hips to his movements feeling yourself about to break and as it's about to crash he keeps you still. "Try to come without me again and I wont be very nice", "Sorry" you whisper, leaning into him more, feeling soft, mushy and needy.
You both go again and the insults slowly turn into compliments, he moans as you clench around him and you whimper, "Come" he says and your body shakes, immediately at his demand. He thrusts up into you hard making you sob out into the room, "Shh Baby, I've got you" he whispers, hands rubbing your back, pulling you as close as possible and leaving soft kisses on your head.
"So perfect for me, such a good girl. Everything I said isnt true, okay?" You nod with soft cries and he kisses you softly, too rough for the first time and definitely not the right time but you were both definitely sober by now. "I love you" he suddenly says making you stop crying, "I love you too" and he stands. He always said hed never date, especially with someone like you but here he is, confessing his love for you and needing you more than ever.

I’ll Make It Up To You With;Diego Hargreeves
A/N: Hello? I’m so happy to have gotten some love on my last post so I had to deliver again. Just a short Drabble kinda thing for now. Expect more imagines about this emotionally-stunted man child because I’m 100% in love! Also quick shoutout to @gemimaya Bc our little convo in the comments gave me this idea💜
*gif not mine*
“Listen, I thought there’d be at least one restaurant available tonight. It’s a big city, how was I supposed to know everyone and their mother are going out to eat tonight?” Diego’s words were rushed, something he tended to do when he knew I was right.
“You said you made reservations Di.”
“Did I?”
“What you don’t remeber? Something along the lines of ‘baby the new Italian place down the street has our names written all over it so I made reservations for the best table ther-”
“Alright, okay I may have bluffed a bit.” The argument was playful as he held our apartment door open as I walked in before him, his other hand carrying my heels that had been long discarded once we realized we wouldn’t be eating out tonight. I wasn’t actually mad, but seeing him this flustered and guilty was just too cute to pass up. Plus, now he owed me one.
“A bit? I thought you had already gotten to know the owner and there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us at our amazing table.” I continued to tease over my shoulder as he huffed, putting down my shoes and slipping off his own as he closed the door.
“Like I said, a bit of a bluff. But I really didn’t expect every restaurant to be so packed.”
“Mhm, real shame Diego. I even got you to put on a sweater for the occasion.” I tsked from my place on the kitchen countertop. He rolled his eyes, moving over to me and trapping my body between himself and the counter with his arms.
“And you got to wear this new dress, did I mention how gorgeous you look tonight?” My eyes narrowed as his hands moved to my hips, he knew exactly what he was doing with that smirk and that cologne...Enticing, he knew it too judging by the way his eyes searched mine with a smile as he started to lean in. Lips so, so close and enough for me to shudder at the feeling of his breath against me as he moved even closer to connnect our lips. I awaited for his lips to just barely brush against mine before I placed my hand on his jaw and pressed my thumb against his lips. Maintaining our close proximity as I softly spoke.
“Hargreeves, you’re delusional if you think a kiss can make up for my empty stomach.”
I giggled as he groaned, head falling into the crook of my neck as his hands fell to his sides.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“I was anticipating a hot plate of penne all day, and you’re the one upset?”
“How many times do I have to apologize before I get to kiss you?” His whining continued as I moved to our bedroom, searching the drawers for a T-shirt of his I could change into. “Hello? Now the silent treatment?” His arms were crossed against his chest as he leaned against the door and glared as I shrugged in response.
“Fine, I didn’t think it would have to come to this y/n but you leave me no choice. My mouth opened to question him but was replaced with a help of surprise as he lifted me up and tossed me into our bed. Larger body coming to lay on top of me as I struggled in a fit of laughter beneath him.
“Get the hell off of me Diego.” My words were the least bit of demanding as I helplessly squirmed underneath him.
“Aha! So she speaks, I’m not getting off until you forgive me.” How was I supposed to keep up the act now? With those stupid honey brown eyes peering hopefully into mine as he awaited my response. “Listen, I’ll order takeout and we can watch all the stupid 80s movies you want. Anything so you’ll forgive me.”
My resistance ceased at his words as I bit my lip in consideration. Giggling again as his forehead pressed against mine whilst he poked my sides.
“Okay, okay you had me at takeout. I draw the line at tickling.” My hands gripping his wrists to hault his movements as he beamed down at me.
“So I’m forgiven?”
“Well, there’s just one more thing.”
****************************************
“Two on each side and that’s it.”
“But Di it’ll look so much better if I do all of them!” I whined from below him, legs Criss-cross on top of his lap as he shook his head.
“I can’t believe I actually agreed to this.” He grumbled as I shook the small bottle of black nail polish in my hand, grabbing his wrist so his fingers were spread out over my thigh.
“You promised you’d do anything for me to forgive you, please baby?” I looked up to him with a small pout, giving him the best doe eyes I could muster at his own narrowed ones. Doing my best to not let my frown falter as he shifted uncomfortably under my gaze.
“Fine, just s-stop looking at me like that.” I grinned up at him with a laugh, pecking his cheek and giddily twisting open the bottle as his attention turned back to the tv.
“I don’t get this movie. They just waltzed out of detention with a new appreciation of life and understanding for each other?”
I groaned at Diego’s words, him having asked hundreds of other questions throughout the movie due to his lack of attention span.
“This is why we cant watch any other movies besides action.” I countered as the credits rolled, boxes of Chinese food long forgotten in a pile on the small coffee table in front of us.
“I’m just saying, that Jerry guy couldn’t have socked that douche in the suit?
“He was their principle babe, and his name is Johnny not Jerry.” I corrected with a chuckle, using my nail to rub off the access polish on his ring finger as he continued.
“Isn’t that what I said?” My defeated sigh melted into another laugh at his confused tone as I turned my entire body to face him. Closing in the space between us to give him a real kiss this time, figuring he deserved it after all the shit I’d put him through tonight. He hummed into the kiss, hands moving off my thigh and towards my hips as I quickly pulled away and grabbed his wrists.
“Sorry Hargreeves, the polish isn’t dry yet.” I shook my head as I spoke, giving him another peck as he let out an exasperated sigh.
“I hope you know you’re killing me right now.”
“Mmph, but look how good they came out! Ten more minutes and they’ll be dry. And did I mention how hot you look with them?” I admired the black polish against his tan skin as he replied.
“Yeah well enjoy it while you can, it’ll be off by tomorrow morning.”
“What, you can’t kick criminal ass with freshly painted nails?”

Oink The Stuffed Pig
WARNINGS: Swearing | Mentions of Sex (a dirty joke or two) |
Pairings: Kim Seokjin x Single Dad!Male Reader
Genre: Parent!au, neighbor!au, some angst (just a lil), fluff, humor
Word Count: 11,838
Summary: Due to complications, M/n moves to a new city with his son. Though struggling, the two grow to like their new lives and new neighborhood, especially Kim Seokjin, their neighbor across the hall who is more than kind.
A/n: IM ALIVEEEE! I suck at endings so like... my bad. I tried to get this out because I know a few of you were excited for this. Turned out a little more angst than I plan but uh... surprise? Again sorry it took me so long to finish it! 💙☀
I sighed and looked out the window as the train I was in, drove down the tracks. I looked at my watch it was around 7 pm and I knew it was going to be a long night. I looked over to my son, he was happily playing a game on an old phone of mine. I let out a sigh as my eyes trailed down to look at our backpacks on the floor.
I’m sorry we have to go this far.
I leaned forward, opening the side pouch of my backpack to take out my phone. I had muted it days ago and didn’t bother to look at it.
I unlocked it and looked through my messages.
Mom: Okay, just be safe, okay? The both of you.
Dad: remember to secure the new home. it will give everyone a piece of mind
.
Unknown Number: you cant just take him! I said I wanted to work this out!
I rolled my eyes at the last one, deciding just to message my parents since we were more within the city.
M/n to Mom: I found a nice little neighborhood, close to his school and there are some good jobs I can get for the time being, just until I save up a bit. We’ll be safe. Don’t worry too much.
M/n to Dad: I had a security system kit sent with some of our stuff. I’m going to go to the store tomorrow to look for tougher screws for the doors. We have a balcony so I have to figure something out! Safety is my second priority!
“Who are you talking to?” I heard my son’s small voice ask.
I looked over to him, his eyes were big, full of curiosity as he lifted himself up in order to look at the screen. I only smiled.
“Your grandparents.” He gave me a small pout.
“Why the pout?” I asked with a sad chuckle, “…Expecting someone else?” I asked dejectedly.
I swore I saw his eyes twinkle, “Aunt Hyejin!” My heart dropped to my stomach.
I tore my eyes away from his, prepping myself to lie, “Ha… Aunt Hyejin… she…” Oh god, what would be a good lie to tell him?
I glanced back at his perfect brown orbs, stabbing into me for an answer.
“A… Aunt Hyejin is not herself right now. So… I can’t talk to her right now, okay?” I wasn’t lying, but it sure in the hell felt like I was.
I could see the sadness enter his eyes, as well as those same eyes water. My eyes widened as I quickly held my hands up as if he were now holding a weapon to me.
“But why?” He asked, his voice sounding very upset.
“Junseok-ah, it’s complicated. BUT you’re going to make new friends and have your own room!” I tried to sway my son.
“I don’t want new friends I want Aunt Hyejin!” He was now crying, I grimaced.
I looked around the empty train car almost frantically, as to search for something to get my son to stop crying. I let out a heavy sigh.
“Listen, Junseok-ah, stop crying. Some people aren’t going to be in your life for the rest of your life. Some people have their own lives to live, some care dearly about you, and some will care only for themselves. It has nothing to do with your personality or who you are as a person. Aunt Hyejin… I have a feeling she only cares for herself right now. And right now, I have to care about you, and you have to care about yourself right now too.” That probably made no sense to him.
Oddly enough my son only nodded his head, using his sleeve to wipe his tears, I offered him a small smile.
“Don’t worry, I got us a place to stay and you have your own room!” Which I have no Idea how I’m going to pay for it.
“We live near a school you’ll be going too!” Some of your new teachers think I’m irresponsible for moving so late in the year and hate me already.
“I’m getting a new job, so new cool things!” You might not get anything good for your birthday if it's a low-paying job.
“Our new home is in a nice neighborhood with lots of kids so you’ll make friends.” You’re more extroverted than me and the families will more than likely hate me.
“It’s a little far from grandpa and grandma, but this is a better life!” I’m scared.
“…Okay. Can we get something to eat before we go to our new house?” He asked softly.
I nodded, not wiping the smile off my face, “We’ll get whatever you want. Just don’t be sad or scared. Just know that I love you with all my heart. Forever.”
Junseok sniffled a bit and moved closer to wrap his arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him onto my lap to keep him closer. I could feel him relax in my hold as I moved my hand to rub his back.
“We have reached Hoehyeon Station.”
“So how have you settled in?” My friend Jeongguk asked, he was the one who convinced me to move to Seoul.
I could hear my son let out a scream as he ran around with a plushie pig toy and a Spider-Man toy, a throw blanket tied around his neck as a makeshift cape. I soon then heard a bump and something clatter to the floor. I was unpacking a box on the kitchen counter, taking out glasses and plates.
I let out a heavy sigh, “As settled as we can be I gue-,”
“NO! NO! NO! NO!” I could hear my son shout, making me snap into action as I threw everything I was holding down and ran to his voice.
He was in my bedroom, the window open and him half hanging out.
“Junseok! What are you doing!?” I demanded, running over to yank him away from the open window.
“I dropped Oink! I have to get him!” My son protested as I threw him over my shoulder to stop him from squirming out my grip.
“You won’t get anything besides a trip to the hospital hanging out the window like that!” I scolded, sitting him on my bed.
I pulled back to see his tear-filled eyes. I let out a deep sigh, “If I tell a friend of mine to look after you, will you behave while I look for Oink?” I can’t believe I was going to search in an ally for a stuffed pig.
Junseok quickly nodded his head, almost desperate to get his oldest friend back.
“Fineeee.” I groaned, walking back to the kitchen to get my phone.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” I grumbled, moving a trash bag out the way as I tried to look for a bright pink stuffed pig.
I let out a growl of frustration, “Where are you, you little bitch?” I grumbled, trying to think of new places to look.
I looked at my watch and sighed, I was in a hoodie and jeans but it was only getting colder as the sun was no longer in the sky. It was close to 11 pm and I didn’t want to spend all night looking for a stuffed animal. My son cherished that stuffed pig since it was his first stuffed animal but was it really worth it?
Yes, it was. My son loved it so I will find it.
I groaned at myself, kicking a trash bag and going back to looking for the lost pig.
I was ready to give up thirty minutes later until I saw pink fuzz that looked familiar. I quickly moved whatever was in the way and yanked the pig up into my view.
“Fuck yesss!” I chuckled in satisfaction as I began to dust off and examine the pig.
I frowned when I noticed how flat and lumpy it was, it was less to it being dropped out a window, and more about the years of washing, drying and laying on it.
“Mmm, you need a good stuffing, huh?” I asked the pig, examining it more for rips or stains.
“…Uhhh…” I heard a voice draw out behind me.
I immediately spun around to face the person. A man, he was a little taller than me, wearing a white sweater, dark sweatpants, and white shoes. He had broad shoulders and had the most handsome face I’ve ever been blessed with ever seeing. His eyes were wide as he held onto a trash bag, his eyes dropped to see the flattened stuffed pig and he let out a breath of relief with a chuckle.
“I…” He let out a very unique laugh that tumbled from his rose-colored plush lips, bending over, “I thought… Oh my god…” He tried to speak but only laughter came out.
He looked fairly young but I had no idea how I was supposed to address him, “S-Sir? Is something funny?” I asked, praying he wasn’t some guy who lost his mind and planned to murder me in an ally after I spent an hour and a half looking for a stupid stuffed pig.
He held up one finger as he continued to laugh. I assumed it was to give him a minute so I did.
“You have to understand,” He began, trying to catch his breath, “I just heard your words and saw your back and nothing more!” I saw red begin to bloom in his cheeks.
I tilted my head slightly in confusion. He took my confusion as the go-ahead to explain which he only did in few words, with a smirk.
“Fuck yes? You need a good stuffing?”
It slowly clicked together as heat began to rush to my face and embarrassment washed through me.
“I-I was just talking about a stuffed animal!” I raced to explain, which only made him cackle more.
“Wait! No! I’m not fucking the stuffed animal! That sounded wrong!” The man was now leaning against the building, trying not to fall to the ground from laughing so hard.
“M-My son dropped this out the window, he can’t sleep without it.” I explained nervously.
The man straightened up, trying to gain his composure, “You’re a dad?” He asked breathlessly.
I know I’m ‘too young’.
“Yeah. He’s four… This is an awkward way to meet… We just moved in today.” I gave the man a small smile.
He looked surprised, “Really? Nice to meet you! I’m Kim Seokjin!” He introduced himself happily, moving to shake my hand.
“L/n M/n.” I informed, shaking his hand.
“Welcome to the neighborhood, hopefully, there are no more… misunderstandings.” He joked.
I felt a wave of heat travel to my face again, “I hope not.” I agreed with a nervous giggle.
Seokjin opened his mouth as if he was going to say more but as interrupted by my screeching friend.
“M/N! WHAT IS OUR SON’S FIXATION WITH THE TOILET!? HE TRIED TO FLUSH MY PHONE!” Jeongguk shouted out the window.
Well, that was a nice moment…
I let out a deep sigh, “Sorry, I have to head back up. I’ll talk to you soon, Seokjin?” I questioned.
He nodded, seeming at a lost for words. I frowned a bit. He was so open a few moments ago. I walked past him, giving him a small wave as I began to jog back into the building.
I ran to one of the two elevators and pushed my floor number. Using the time to think of what jobs I could apply to and how to make sure ‘Aunt Hyejin’ didn’t come to visit my son while he was in school.
The ding of the elevator broke me from my thoughts and I went to my apartment door. Before I could dig in my back pocket for my keys, my door flung open to reveal my friend Jeongguk.
“He keeps flushing things in the toilet. You lost a roll of toilet paper. ” My friend informed me, crossing his arms, looking upon me in judgment.
“He’s acting out because he wasn’t very excited about coming here…” I notified, rubbing the back of my neck with the hand that wasn’t gripping the stuffed animal.
Jeongguk sighed. I could hear another ‘ding’ but took it as the elevator I got off of closing it’s doors and going back down.
“I know he’ll like it here, you will too. Did…” Jeongguk looked down, biting his bottom lip as he chose his next words carefully.
“Did Hyejin know where you were going? I don’t think it’s a good idea if she knew where we live.” Jeongguk voiced apprehensively.
“Don’t worry about her. I just told her I was leaving town. She tried to tell Junseok that he could stay at her place if he didn’t want to go.” I stated bitterly.
“Are you fucking with me? She literally doesn’t quit does she!?” Jeongguk scoffed, anger beginning to radiate off of him.
I shook my head, “I was just wondering how we would get him to school without her finding him.”
Jeongguk’s eyes widened, “Do you think she’d go school hunting!?”
“I wouldn’t put it past her.” I grunted bitterly.
Jeongguk let out a frustrated sigh, leaning on the doorframe and pinching the bridge of his nose with two fingers. After a few moments, Jeongguk looked up, sadness and sympathy in his eyes. He reached out, grabbing the collar of my hoodie and pulled me into a hug. He wrapped one arm around my waist and his other hand was in the middle of my back. He let out a long exhale as he began to rub my back. I wrapped my arms around him, fully accepting the comfort in my friend’s embrace, even going as far as to bury my face in his shoulder.
“We’ll figure this out together, M/n. I’ll introduce you to some friends of mine, we’ll settle you in, get you a job and support you for as long as you need, okay?” Jeongguk promised.
I felt a weight lift off my shoulders, knowing I wouldn’t do this alone. I was prepared to do it alone, but I knew Jeongguk wouldn’t let me. He was my best friend. I really counted on him and he counted on me.
The comforting resolve was disrupted by the sound of a flushing toilet.
Jeongguk let out an irritated growl. Jeongguk yanked away to turn to look into the apartment.
“WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT THE TOILET!?” Jeon demanded, grabbing my arm and dragging me into the apartment with him.
I made a wild grab to close the door behind us, trying to fight Jeongguk’s tight grip. I pushed the door closed and Jeongguk let me go, deeming me as the reason he couldn’t move fast enough to scold my son. I only chuckled, moving to the kitchen to throw the stuffed animal in the washing machine.
“YAH! NO SON OF MINE WILL FLUSH IRON MAN DOWN THE TOILET!” I rolled my eyes at Jeongguk’s words.
I could hear my son whine a response as I set the washer to quick wash. I heard footsteps and turned to see Jeongguk holding an armful of toys.
“Uncle Gukkie!” My son whined, trailing after him.
“No! You can’t have these back until you learn how to treat them right.” Jeongguk huffed, dropping the toys in an empty box and swiftly picking it up so Junseok couldn’t snag a toy back.
“Why all his toys?” I chortled.
They both looked over at me, my son with pleading eyes and my friend with the eyes of determination.
“Because our son needs to know what ‘stop’ and ‘don’t do that’ means.” He asserted.
“Stop calling him ‘our son’, people will get the wrong idea.” I giggled, moving to get the detergent.
“No! I’m helping you raise this brat, so he’s my son too!” I shrugged my shoulders. Fair enough.
“Any ideas for dinner?” I asked, starting the washer.
“Daddd!” Junseok whined in complaint of me not defending his toys.
I just knew Jeongguk made up his mind and I mostly agreed with him.
“We’ll order take out for now. Tomorrow we’ll have a better plan, we might be a little too busy for a sit-down meal though.” Jeongguk smiled, happy I wasn’t fighting him.
I nodded in understanding, “We’ll have to get some kind of ‘we are new to the neighborhood, don’t mind the screaming’ gift.”
“I think we’ll be fi-” Junseok cut Jeongguk off by jumping up and grabbing the edge of the box.
Junseok yanked down, causing the box to rip and toys spill out.
“JUST WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!? I said you don’t get these back until you learn how to treat them!!” Jeongguk began and ‘our son’ began to argue back.
“I’m thinking baked goods.” I sighed.
“Jeongguk, you…” I growled, holding one end of the entertainment center as Jeongguk held the other.
“You what!? Finish your sentence!” Jeongguk challenged, stopping in the middle of the entrance.
“You soggy piece of toast! Stop pushing me! You’re making me lose balance!” I snapped.
“You’re so fucking slow!” He clapped back.
“You’re so fucking impatient!” Thus the best friend bicker began.
Soon it wasn’t even about the stupid entertainment center, it wasn’t anything too harmful, just us venting out the stress of the day, per usual. We even set down the entertainment center to argue better.
“NO ONE EVEN LIKES THAT RAMEN SO WHY WAS THAT ONE ON SALE?”
“MAYBE BECAUSE NO ONE GOT IT SO IT WAS GOING TO EXPIRE!”
“THAT MUST HAVE BEEN IT!” After a few minutes of this, we finally drew some breath.
“Okay, now we can get back to work.” Jeongguk exhaled.
I have a quick glance around, “Uh… where is Junseok?” I asked blankly.
Jeongguk quickly spun around to face the living room, “He WAS on the couch!??”
Jeongguk and I slowly met eyes as the realization dawned on us. My best friend and I jumped into action.
“CALL THE POLICE!” Jeongguk shouted as he ran at the door.
As soon as the door opened I could see the door across the hall slightly ajar. This led me to think that my son got curious as to what the door was because he’s never lived in an apartment before.
I tried to grab onto my best friend’s shirt to stop him but he was already out the door and down the hall to the stairs before I could say anything. I heard him shove the door open to the stairway and take off. I sighed, wishing he would’ve saved me the effort of having to call him.
I hesitantly closed my apartment door and made my way to the door across the hall. I lightly pushed open the door, caution pulsing through my veins. I could hear bad playing of a guitar flood the nice-lit, comfy apartment.
“Don’t go too hard on the strings or they will break.” I heard a familiar male voice softly instruct.
The air smelled like muffins and I could hear the sound of a tv. I entered the apartment as quiet as I could, taking off my shoes and taking a deep breath. I raised my hand up and tapped my knuckles on the wall beside me.
“Come in!” A cheerful voice chimed, making the place seem even more inviting.
I stepped forward out the entryway to round the corner. My son was sitting on the floor, holding a guitar WAY too big for his body. His tongue was sticking out, his eyebrows furrowed as he tried to focus on the cords he was strumming.
The man I met in the ally, Seokjin, was sitting on the chair with the stuffed pig on his lap. The pig was plushier than before. I assumed Seokjin restuffed the animal since he had a sewing needle in hand, mid-tug of the thread. Seokjin’s eyes seemed to widen at my arrival.
“I’m sorry if he interrupted your afternoon. He was on the couch one moment then he was gone the next.” I apologized, bowing my head in remorse.
“That’s okay! He hasn’t caused me any trouble.” Seokjin assured me.
I lifted my head up, “Really!? He’s been bratty since we arrived.” I was dismayed. My son listened to a complete stranger more than me!?
Seokjin’s plush lips pulled into a smile, “Yes. Your son has been well behaved!” Seokjin grabbed the scissors and snipped off the extra thread from the pig. Seokjin stood up, a new aura around him that was ignored by my son as Seokjin seemed to strut up to me.
“If you feel that bad about interrupting my afternoon, you can treat me to a better one this week?” Seokjin implied, his eyes whirling with confidence.
I almost choked on air. Did my attractive neighbor just ask me out?
“I… Well…” I was at a loss for words.
Seokjin’s small smile turned into a bigger one, almost cocky, “How about tomorrow? Here. At six.” He tempted, one of his hands moving up to fix my shirt. I’m pretty sure he could feel my heart going faster than it’s ever gone before.
Seokjin’s eyes playfully cast up, awaiting my response.
“So what did you tell him?” Jeongguk asked, getting himself a glass of lemonade and leaning against the kitchen island I was currently sitting at. Head in my hands as my body burned with humiliation. Junseok was on the couch, too emersed in his game to understand how badly I ruined myself.
“I shouted ‘I’m gay’ and ran out.” I grumbled.
Lemonade shot out from Jeongguk’s nose, spraying out onto the countertop. My eyes widened and I jumped up to get him some paper towels, grabbing a few myself to catch the liquid that threatened to ruin the floor. Jeongguk grabbed the paper towels and held them up to his face as he began to cough and sputter. I swore I heard slight chuckling in the distress.
“I-I don’t… I don’t think that line works in THIS scenario…” Jeongguk coughed as he moved his cup to the sink, having no desire to have lemonade again any time soon.
“I panicked!” I tried to defend myself.
“Do you want to go on a date with him?” He inquired.
I threw my hands up, “I don’t know! I hardly even know the guy!”
My best friend rolled his eyes, “Well, you won’t know him anytime soon with you shouting ‘I’m gay’ while running out his apartment like he was asking you if you knew his lord and savior Jesus Christ.” Jeongguk smirked.
“I didn’t say ‘I’m gay’ while running out! I said it then ran out. Get your shit straight, Jeon.” I dropped back down to my seat with a pout. I leaned forward, dropping my head so my face was against the cold countertop, groaning in defeat and embarrassment.
“Okay, I’m sorry.” Jeon tried to refrain from smiling, but was failing horribly, “I shouldn’t tease you about this. Maybe go over, see if the offer stands and if he was serious. He came on a little strong. You never know, he might be as freaked out as you.”
My head lifted up and my eyes filled with hope. “Will it be that easy? You think so?” I asked in ease.
“No. He definitely thinks you’re weird and probably has another date set up in your spot. When you get there tomorrow, you’ll be interrupting his date.”
There were a few moments of silence as my expression fell and his lifted.
“I hope that lemonade burned your nose.” I muttered, laying my head back on the island.
"But Uncle Jeonnnn." My son whined from the kitchen island the next day, after a busy morning.
"No. I said we'd get ice cream AFTER you put away all your toys." Jeongguk asserted, lightly kicking the large box of toys that had been taped up from being ripped.
I only shook my head as I loaded the fridge with groceries.
"But I already cleaned my room, helped dad in the kitchen and helped you!" My son bargained.
"He has been helping a lot today, Jeon," I informed with a small smile.
Jeongguk's head snapped to face me, betrayal written in his eyes, "Who's side are you on!?"
I let out a sigh. I had two toddlers now.
"I'm not picking a side. Junseok, he said after you put your toys away. But Jeongguk, you can't discredit the work he's put in today without being a brat or complaining once. " I resolved.
My best friend pouted, deep in thought. He then turned to my son.
"How about we get junk food and play video games for an hour as your reward?" Jeon suggested, making my son's eyes light up.
"Good, because I don't want to go back on my word. You only get ice cream when you put away your toys. Go get ready." Jeon chuckled.
My son jumped up and rushed to his room quickly as if Jeon would change his mind in under thirty seconds. Jeongguk stood next to me to open the fridge for a bottle of soda.
"Are you sure you're okay with this? I know you said you wanted to help, but I don't want you to be doing all this because you feel obligated to." I frowned.
Jeongguk raised his eyebrow and swallowed, "M/n? I'm only taking him to the convenience store and back?"
"That's not it, " I rolled my eyes, "You've helped me mostly unpack, arrange the apartment and even took a week off from work to get us settled in. You've given a lot in the past few days."
It was then my best friend's turn to roll his eyes, "Seriously? Friends help friends move. And BEST friends arrange your fucking apartment for you because you don't have your shit together. If I didn't want to be here I wouldn't show up. You and your son deserve some happiness right now, so if I have to call another customer service line to help me set up a shelf, I fucking will."
I smiled at how much determination filled his eyes. "You didn't have the right tool, like a dumbass," I recalled, trying not to cackle.
"The manual said I didn't need a hammer!" He snapped.
"Your voice got a little offended there. Did I hit a nerve?" I teased.
"Know what? Fuck you, " Jeongguk stated dramatically as he put down his soda and began to stride out the kitchen, "I'm leaving you! I'm going to stay with my parents and I'm taking our son with me!" He ranted as he walked into the hall.
I chuckled, shaking my head as I moved back to stock up the kitchen. After I loaded the pantry I looked around for the box with the plates. I walked more into the living room to examine the stacked boxes by the door but didn't find any more boxes for the kitchen. I frowned.
"Hey, Jeongguk?" I called rotating boxes, hoping I read them wrong.
"Yes?" He called back from my room.
"Do you know where the last box for the kitchen is?"
"Check the hall! There are a few boxes out there that just got delivered!" In the hall!?
I shook my head in judgment and walked to the front door and out into the hall. Sure enough, to the left of my door were two stacks of boxes, four boxes high. I jogged back into the apartment to get my box cutter off the kitchen counter and ran back out to get to work on opening the last kitchen box that conveniently sat on the top of the first stack.
After I cut the tape open, I retract the blade in the box cutter and shoved it in my front hoodie pocket for easy access. I opened the box and took out a plate to examine it for any damages.
I could hear Jeongguk and my son talking as they entered the living room, then the entryway to pull on their shoes.
"Off to get junk?" I asked, checking other plates.
"Yes! He even dressed himself." My eyes widened at my best friend's words, making me spin around to face my mismatched son.
He had on red pants, a white T-shirt, green converse, a pink hat, and a yellow zip-up hoodie.
"...Junseok...Why?" I wasn't disappointed or judging, just confused.
Junseok shrugged, "It's comfortable."
"I mean, at least that's what matters." I gave him a warm smile.
Jeongguk reached in his back pocket, "He's adorable, I should take a picture." Jeon froze.
"Fuck! I forgot my phone. Wait here, Seok." Jeon gave my son two quick pats on the head and dashed inside.
My son and I gave each other and look then shifted our gazes to the apartment to give my best friend a judgemental look he couldn't see. Once Jeongguk came back, he took my son's hand and gave us both a big bunny smile.
"We're off!" He announced, puffing out his chest.
"To see the wizard?" I teased.
"Off what?" My son questioned.
Jeongguk deflated, "Let's just go." He grumbled as I held back a chuckle.
"Bye, Dad!" Junseok happily waved and began to drag my best friend down the hall.
"I'll grab you the usual!" Jeon quickly told me as my son dragged him to the elevators.
I giggled, shaking my head. I turned back to the boxes and lifted up the kitchen one. I took the box into the kitchen, setting it down on the island and made my way back out to the hall. I grabbed the top box on the second stack, turning it to get a better look at what I had written on the side of it.
As I was checking I could hear footsteps behind me. I smirked, figuring it was my friend forgetting something, "Forgot your wallet now, Jeon?" I teased, turning around.
I was met with someone who wasn't Jeongguk.
Seokjin was looking down at the floor. It looked like he had been biting at his lips and his hands were shoved in his pocket.
"Hello, M/n..." His voice was awkward and I didn't expect it from the man who was so confident and straightforward yesterday.
"Seokjin! Hi! How is your day so far?" I asked just as awkwardly.
There were a few moments of uncomfortable silence. Seokjin let out a groan of frustration as he pulled his hands out his pockets and lifted his gaze.
"I wanted to apologize!" He stated, his chest seeming to puff up.
I pressed my lips together in an effort to not smile, "Apologize for what?"
"I came on too strong yesterday." -Seokjin looked down at the floor again- "You had barely met me and I thought if I made an impression, you'd be as interested as me. I talked to my friend about it and he called me a dumbass. I understand why though. You and your boyfriend seem to be happy together and have a son an-" I raised one finger up as I let out a small giggle of disbelief.
I knew it was rude to interrupt but I just had to.
"Y-You... You think Jeongguk and I are boyfriends?" I held back laughter.
His eyes widened slightly, seeming even more embarrassed, "Are you not??"
"Jeongguk is my best friend, he has a habit of calling my son 'our son' because he's been around him since birth and helped me a lot with raising him. I feel nothing but platonic feelings for Jeongguk and he feels the same. We're like brothers." I explained, a smile on my face.
So Seokjin was a softie. I should've guessed.
"I... I could've sworn... Well, that makes sense!" Seokjin threw his hands up and groaned, turning around so his back was to me and put his face in his hands.
"Seokjin? If the offer still stands I would love to go on a date with you. I just don't know if I can do it tonight." I smirked, feeling bolder now that I knew he was as awkward as me.
"I'll admit you DID make an impression. You made me so flustered I told you I was gay and ran." I added light-heartedly.
I heard Seokjin let out a small laugh and saw his shoulders shake a bit.
I pressed my lips together, thinking of how to make this situation less awkward.
“Would you like to have a drink with me? I’m kinda tired and need a break.” I smiled.
Seokjin nodded, only moving when I began to walk into my apartment.
“Woww!” He exclaimed in awe.
“What is it?” I asked, spinning around, full of fear.
“Your apartment looks so clean!” I let out a breath of relief.
I thought he found something bad. Like my son leaving a half-eaten sandwich on the floor or even Jeongguk forgetting my underwear on the couch because he insisted that he do laundry today.
Glad it wasn’t anything bad, I strolled to the kitchen to serve us glasses of lemonade. Seokjin looked around a bit before making his way into the kitchen.
“So, who’s your friend with the blunt advice?” I giggled, lifting my glass to my lips.
Seokjin smiled, “Yoongi. He goes back and forth between staying at my apartment and our friend Hoseok’s apartment. The day I did that was the day he was at Hoseok’s. He said I was like a toddler who he couldn’t leave alone.”
“Jeongguk says the same thing. He teased me endlessly for what I did,” I chuckled.
“Well, now we’re having a conversation like adults.”
“More like teenagers, because we’re having lemonade awkwardly.”
“Adults awkwardly drink lemonade too!” I laughed, only shaking my head.
“How old are you anyway? I want to say you’re my hyung, but the way you act contradicts that.” Seokjin pressed his hand to his chest in fake offense.
“I’m 26!”
“So you’re a goofy hyung.”
“And you’re a rude dongsaeng!” Now it was my turn to be offended.
“How so!?”
“You should’ve asked my age when we met!”
“Well, I’m sorry I was distracted!”
“I know I’m handsome but please have manners!” My face pretty much heated up the whole room.
“It’s because Jeongguk shouted out the window! Then the second time you cornered me!” I defended my honor as best as I could.
“Ahh, I knew my handsome face affected you.” He smiled playfully, shifting his hand to blow me a kiss.
“…I will kick you out of my apartment.”
Seokjin let out a laugh, “Why?”
“Because you’re backing me into a corner!”
“If it makes you feel any better, I think you’re handsome too.”
“…Where is Yoongi-hyung when you need him.”
“Yah! Why do you automatically call him hyung and not me!?”
“Because I learned my lesson!”
“Why didn’t you learn it before me!?”
“…I’m sorry, Hyung. I’ll do better next time.”
Seokjin smiled bigger, “Ah,” He clutched his chest, his face scrunching a bit like he was touched and proud, “what a respectful young man I’m raising you to be.”
“…I’m kicking you out.”
Over the next few days, Seokjin and I would wave to each other and sometimes he would knock at my door just to hang out. Jeongguk and Junseok seemed to really like him. It wasn’t long before I gave him my number so he could just text me when he would come over so I could just leave the door unlocked and so we could talk more.
If he wasn’t complimenting himself or me over text he would be giving me horribly good dad jokes.
I settled in easily and got a job working at Jeongguk’s ‘assistant’ since he worked as a camera operator. I was supposed to be as qualified as him, but what ends up happening is him teaching me how to work the camera and then him judging me when I fuck up. I am getting better, and I’m happy to have my best friend working with me.
After work is usually when Seokjin invites himself over. Since Jungkook and I are mostly attached to the hip, we pick up Junseok and all go home to my apartment together, so we make a ton of noise.
I needed to clean my apartment and go shopping one day, so Seokjin agreed to watch Junseok. I thought he would mind at first but he said he ‘would be honored to teach this young man his ways’ if I just promised that I would feed him dinner too… I wasn’t sure if I should’ve left him with Seokjin…
I had Seokjin stay at my now clean apartment while he watched Junseok since it would be easier. It was just Seokjin and Junseok since Jungkook had to go back to his own apartment to clean up.
I looked at the two bags of chips, one was ‘original’, meaning salt and a ton of grease and other one was octopus flavored. Since I haven’t tried the octopus flavored chip, I figured ‘what the hell’ and dropped them both in my basket.
“Old habits never die huh?” I heard making me freeze.
Please don’t be her.
I spun around and felt my blood boil, “Hyejin, what the actual fuck are you doing here?”
She gave me an awkward smile, “It’s nice to see you too.”
“Drop the crap, what do you want.”
“You just leaving was cruel. He’s my son too.” I narrowed my eyes at her, fighting every urge not to explode in a semi-busy store.
“You wanted nothing to do with him because it inconvenienced your ‘perfect life’. So you can fuck off with that. You literally delivered him, then handed him to me and never even visited until a few months ago. ”
“Because I regretted my decision.”
“Because the party was over. The people who ‘knew you better than me’ decided you were expendable.”
She sighed, “Stop being so mean!”
“Stop pretending like you came to this decision yourself and like you actually give a fuck.”
“What makes you think that I don’t!?”
“What’s the name of Junseok’s pig?”
There was silence. I sighed at her look of panic. Maybe I was too harsh, but I didn’t want MY son to be hurt by an unreliable person who only cared about themselves.
“Listen,” I began, looking down at my hands, trying to think over my words, “We used to have something and I didn’t plan on having a son so soon. You basically took matters into your own hands and forced this on the both of us. You had him, then handed him to me and never even looked his direction. I moved here to start over with him. So he wouldn’t hear stories of his mother at least for now. You left us both. You can see where I’m coming from can’t you?”
I looked up at the end of my rant to see her fuming.
I guess she couldn’t see where I was coming from.
“You can’t just pick up and start over without me! I’m his mother!”
“A mother doesn’t give her child up for partying and people who don’t care about anyone or anything.”
“Stop bringing my friends into this! It’s YOUR fault!”
I let out an annoyed sigh. This was going nowhere.
“You’re obviously not mature yet. Please leave me and MY son alone. I would consider you visiting my son if you grew up a little bit because you obviously haven’t learned anything. He starts school soon, and if I see or hear of you stalking him there or waiting at the fucking gates, so help me I will get every lawyer I can get my hands on to MAKE you stay away. So I’m politely telling you to go fuck yourself.” I grabbed another bag of chips and began to push past her.
“You can’t take my son from me!” She yelled as I walked away.
“I didn’t! You handed him over!” I called back, trying to walk away in fucking style.
I couldn’t stop thinking about Hyejin on the elevator ride up to my apartment.
Maybe I WAS too harsh.
Or maybe she was too stubborn to take a fucking hint.
I kept wondering if there was a compromise we could come to or if something was wrong with my logic.
I was afraid she’d get bored like before then leave again. Play nice for a few weeks then leave.
I didn’t want someone like that in my son’s life but she was right, she was his mother and she had rights.
What if I DID have to involve the law?
What if they decided that I shouldn’t get my son?
What if it all went downhill because I was too stubborn to just let her see him??
What if I DID let her see him and she took him from me??
I was so stuck in my thoughts that I didn’t notice that I got out the elevator and shoved open my front door.
I didn’t snap out of it until I heard a male scream. My head snapped up to see Seokjin leap from the couch and frantically look around for something to defend himself. After finding nothing he, for some reason, settled on Oink who was laying on the couch, cocking his arm back like he was going to throw it at me.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa it's just me!" I held my hands up in front of me- "Put. The. Pig. Down!"
"You don't just walk into a man's home!" Seokjin scolded, shaking the pink stuffed pig at me in a demonstration of dominance.
“It’s MY apartment!”
“It was MY territory before you entered!”
“Like hell it is! I pay the bills!”
“I babysit and grace this place with my looks! Now tell me who REALLY provides for this family!”
As much as I tried to fight it, that made me smile. Despite me being too stressed and worked up to focus when I walked in, Seokjin made it all melt away in a matter of moments.
It was like 10 tons was lifted from my shoulders.
I sighed, letting my body relax, “You, Seokjin.” I smiled tiredly as I walked over to him.
He looked a little shocked at my words, still holding his guard up as I threw my arms around him to pull him into a thankful hug.
“You provide for this family more than you know.” I spoke, letting the silence hang in the air.
Then too much silence. It was only a few seconds of silence but it seemed like minutes. I was considering apologizing and pulling away, but I felt Jin wrap his arms around my waist and pull me closer.
It was now peaceful, comfortable, and reassuring silence.
It wasn’t like a hug with Jeongukk. Though it was filled with love and comfort, it felt like that but so much more.
I could feel my emotions pool in my chest and threaten to spill out. All from a simple hug.
“…I’m lost.” I admitted, hiding my face into his well-built shoulder.
Seokjin let out a small sigh, his arms tightening around me, “I’ll always be here to guide you.” He seemed to promise in a soft tone.
Maybe I could be willing to let Seokjin into my life more than I already had.
It really wouldn’t be so bad to let Seokjin be the person he wanted to be to me… Would it?
“So…about that date.” I began.
“Remember not to put the glass pitcher in the front of the fridge!” I called to Jeongguk as he was sat on the floor with my son.
I could hear their loud game continue, letting me know that they were far from listening. Their bowls of noodles sat behind them on the coffee table, untouched as they numbed themselves to the gaming world,
“Yah! Eat your food!” I snapped, making Jeongguk roll his eyes with an annoyed groan.
“Fine, MOM. We’ll eat.” He sassed, tapping my son’s side to get him to turn to the table.
I could hear a soft knock on the door that made me rush over to it. I pulled open my door, ready to tell Jin to just come in because I needed to wait for my socks to get out the drawer but my jaw dropped at the sight of him.
Black leather jacket, black shirt, dark jeans, and dark boots. A beautiful earring dangled from one of his ears, giving just the right amount of flash to draw attention.
I couldn’t help but stare in awe of the man I happened to snatch up by chance. I was taken by surprise by the outfit. He usually went for a more softer look. So my dumbass was wearing an oversized sweater and jeans to match his soft look but now that wasn’t happening.
Seokjin began to smirk at my obvious staring but just like that, it was over. The moment ruined with a noodle flying across the room, sauce splattering a bit on his face and my son cackling like the tyrant he was growing up to be.
My eyes widened and I quickly ran to get paper towels as Jeongguk began to scold my son about wasting noodles.
I made a mental note to scold my son for not only wasting noodles but ruining a perfectly good leather jacket.
“Sorry, Hyung! I should’ve warned you not to wear anything nice.” I let out a small awkward laugh.
“After all I’ve done to save Oink and THIS is how I’m treated!?” Seokjin mocked offense, a smile blessing his face, making me let out a breath of relief.
Seokjin the ran over to my son to ‘tackle’ him to the floor and wiggle his finger’s against my son’s side, causing my son to squeal with laughter. Jeongguk quickly picked a side as he jumped on Seokjin’s back to annoy him, causing Seokjin to yell at Jeongguk, but not causing him to stop tickling my son.
I smiled as warmth spread throughout my chest. Despite Seokjin’s attire, he was too soft for his own good and I loved that about him. He didn’t prod at my personal life, he didn’t push his boundaries, or judge how young I was with a son. Or even judge my relationship with Jeongguk. He just took it as it was and didn’t try to change it, he just wanted to be involved. He wanted to know me. He wanted to be a part of my life and take care of us.
“Yah! You’re ruining my date!” I complained, causing Jeongguk to blow into Seokjin’s ear as a form of rebellion.
“Stop giving foreplay!” I snapped at Jeongguk, causing his eyes to widen and for him to freeze in place.
Seokjin used Jeongguk’s pause to his advantage, grabbing Jeongguk to have him on his back so Seokjin could tickle him relentlessly too. Jeongguk let out a loud laugh as he tried to squirm out of Seokjin’s grasp.
“M/N! GET YOUR BOYFRIEND!”
“I don’t know, man. The way you were teasing him makes me think he’s YOUR boyfriend…”
“LESS SHIT TALK, MORE HELP!”
The date was not what I expected, but in a good way. Seokjin said he had a reservation somewhere and I thought it was a restaurant but after a few minutes of walking, he bought two bags of chips and some drinks as we casually strolled, which was gradually making my sanity decrease.
“So… Is this the date?” I asked as Seokjin’s eyes were trained on looking in his bag for the perfect chip.
“Would it be terrible if it was?” He asked, not bothering to look up.
“Not really, I just don’t really understand why we took an hour train ride to walk around.”
Seokjin only smirked. A moment of silence.
“So what do you think of koalas?” He tested.
“WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING!?”
Seokjin let out a laugh and kept walking. I glared at the back of his head, wondering if it would be too cruel to trip him.
Words can never explain how much I felt like a child as I hastily pulled off my shoes and put them away. I practically vibrated with excitement as Seokjin led me into the empty place.
A trampoline park.
No one else but us and staff.
I was frozen in place, taken by surprise at just how huge this place was, “How did you manage to do this!? Are you rich or something!?” I gasped, “Am I your sugar baby now?” I asked as Seokjin un-glued me from my spot by pulling me by the hand.
“As much as I want you to think I’m perfect, my friend Taehyung works here. He offered the night to us.” He explained, stepping on the boarders of the trampolines on the floor so he could walk easily.
“…Are all your friends cool?” I asked, causing Seokjin to stop in his tracks and whip his head around to face me.
“Yah! Why do you want to know? I’m the coolest out of them! I’m the only 10!” I pressed my lips together in attempts to not burst out laughing.
Seokjin shook his head, “Let’s play a game! There are a few balls around, I go on one side and you go on the other, it hits the wall behind me, you get a point, I hit it behind you, you get a point.”
I could feel my competitive spirit spur in my chest, “Oh you’re fucking on!” I smirked, playfully pushing him to the side and rushing to get to the other side of the room.
“WHY DID YOU PUSH ME!?”
“PLAY THE GAME HYUNG!”
Seokjin decided to set a timer, 20 minutes, whoever got the most points in those 20 minutes was the winner. The loser had to buy dinner and the tickets back home. A few minutes into the game and I was only pulling 2 points ahead.
Seokjin was more athletic then I gave him credit for. Soon it got way too hot in the sweater I decided to wear. I was so used to playing these kinds of games with Jeongguk that I didn’t question it when I yanked off my sweater and threw it to the side to quickly get back into the game before Seokjin attempted to score.
However, that didn’t happen. Seokjin was walking with the ball, eyes too focused on me to the point where he stepped wrong between two trampolines, causing him to slip and the brightly colored borders to go directly into his groin. My hand flew up to my mouth as I heard the wind get knocked out of him painfully. I could feel second-hand pain in my stomach as he fell to the side, his hands cupping the now extremely sensitive area, his eyes watered.
“Holy shit! Hyung!? Are you okay!?” I asked, trying to run over but ended up losing my balance. Which ended in me doing a useless belly flop in his direction.
Seokjin let out a pain-filled chuckle, “Stop being cute I’m dying!”
“I’m sorry, Hyung!” I apologized quickly, getting up as fast as I could and stepping on the border so I wouldn’t lose balance again.
Before I could race to him Seokjin’s words stopped me, “YAH! Put on your shirt first!!”
I nodded rapidly and rushed over to grab my sweater, yanking it on and turning to sprint to Jin. Which made my impatient ass slip.
Again.
I let out a frustrated groan as I belly-flopped again.
“Oh just fucking forget it!” Seokjin murmured breathlessly, rolling onto his back.
“How about I just walk?” I suggested.
“That would be best considering this place is a death trap.”
I stood again, moving to walk carefully on the borders until I got to Seokjin. I kneeled down beside him, petting his head in attempts to comfort him.
“…Thank you.” He muttered, staring at the ceiling, looking like he was questioning every choice he’s ever made.
“…This means I win right?”
“Gloat all you want but I’m never bringing you here ever again and I’m telling Taehyung that he tried to kill me.”
“…No one had you staring.” I tried to hold back the laughter that was bubbling in my chest.
“SO NOW IT’S MY FAULT THAT YOU GOT NAKED IN FRONT OF ME!?” Seokjin suddenly popped off.
“I just took off my shirt. It was too hot.” I defended.
“TOO HOT IS RIGHT! YOU CHEATED! YOU KNEW THAT WOULD MAKE ME FLUSTERED! I WANT A REMATCH WHEN I CAN FEEL MY LEFT LEG AGAIN!” Seokjin ranted.
I giggled, “Hyung, just admit that you like my body and you lost.”
“I didn’t lose! You cheated! How would you feel if I took off my shirt during a game?”
“I would like it very much.” I teased.
I could see color bloom in Seokjin’s cheeks and ears.
I could feel adoration fill my chest, “You’re so cute.”
“I’m a 26-year-old man. I’m not cute.”
“If I get you dinner can I call you cute?”
“You get me dinner and I charge you for getting to have a meal with me.”
“You called me cute, this isn’t fair.”
“Don’t talk back to your hyung.”
“…My hyung just broke his balls…”
“And it demands respect!”
I half expected Seokjin to take me to a cafe or something, but instead, he was arguing on the phone as I grabbed chips out of a vending machine.
“I set up that reservation three hours ago!” My eyebrows shot up.
“How the fuck did you even do that in the first place??” Seokjin pressed his hand to the phone as if to completely keep the person on the other line from hearing.
“Someone canceled and I booked it.” He responded in a hushed tone.
The other person seemed to say something because Seokjin quickly removed his hand and snapped, “They DID cancel!”
I only shook my head as I looked around. There were a few small restaurants. One looked like it had some good looking noodles. Another one had shrimp wrapped in something that I first thought was noodles. It was more like a batter of sorts, it was all dipped in the deep fryer. I was more curious about what the hell that dough was than hungry for it.
I did see one stall that stood out though. An older woman was making knife-cut noodles. She didn’t have many people since there was a constant battle of everyone one-upping each other.
I turned to Seokjin, who was still arguing with this person who wasn’t budging. I grabbed his hand and began to pull him towards the stall. He was too focused on bickering that he just let me drag him along. I pushed down on his shoulders to make him sit then turned to the surprised woman.
“Two bowls please!” I eagerly asked.
“Would you like chicken or pork in your bowl?” She asked, mirroring my smile.
I frowned a bit looking over at Seokjin, still arguing. I wasn’t really sure what he would prefer.
“One bowl of each? He’s a little stubborn.” I chuckled awkwardly.
She only nodded in understanding as she began to cook the noodles. I was excited, getting chopsticks and looking over the add-in options.
“Hyung, she has soybean paste!” I exclaimed.
I didn’t hear a break in his stupid dispute.
“WHY TELL ME THERE WAS A CANCELLATION IF THERE WASNT!? THEY CALLED TO CANCEL THEY CAN'T JUST TAKE IT BACK!”
I let out a huff. Well at least I know he’s passionate about what he believes in.
I reached up and grabbed his phone, ignoring his appalled face as I ended the call.
“Yah! I was winning! That was rude!” He scolded me.
“You weren’t winning! You were arguing with a wall! Pay attention to me.” I grumbled, moving to shove his phone in my pocket.
“Hey! Give me my phone!” He tried to lunge for it but I held my arm out to just keep it out his reach.
“We came out to have a nice time!” I whined.
“We are having a nice time!”
“You arguing about a table is not a nice time!”
Seokjin was about to retaliate but was cut off by the woman setting the bowls in front of us.
“Thank you!” I smiled at her, successfully pocketing the phone.
“Pork or chicken?” I asked, handing him chopsticks.
Seokjin wordlessly grabbed the chopsticks from me and slid the bowl with chicken closer to himself. A pout rested on his rose lips.
I groaned, “Hyung, the reservation wasn’t THAT important to argue for twenty minutes.”
More silence.
I let out a sigh and pulled the pork bowl closer, mixing the noodles and beginning to eat. I looked over to the add-in options and got the hot pepper paste. I put a decent sized dab in my bowl and offered it to Seokjin, who just took it in more muteness. I only rolled my eyes and went back to eating. Who knew an argument could mean so much to him.
After about half a bowl of noodles, he finally spoke.
“I wanted tonight to be perfect.”
I raised an eyebrow at him. He was only staring at his noodles in defeat.
“And it is so far… except for you arguing for twenty minutes then ignoring me for ten.”
Seokjin turned to me, sadness in his eyes, “But you finally said yes!”
His words slowly sunk in as he continued, “I didn’t get a lot of time to set this up, but I still wanted to blow you away.” Oh great now I felt like a dick for not planning the date at a later time.
“I said yes because I wanted to know you more, not what you could offer me. I understand you want it to be perfect but I honestly feel more comfortable eating noodles at a stall than in a fancy restaurant that I have to get glares every time I laugh too loud. This IS perfect, Hyung.”
Seokjin looked back down at his bowl, “…If I would’ve known you were this cheap I would’ve had a picnic at the park.” He grumbled.
“CAN WE!?”
Seokjin shook his head at me, a disapproving look on his face.
"I make a KILLER lemonade!" I added with a proud smile.
I saw Seokjin try to hold back a smile, "We'll have a picnic date next time." He confirmed, lifting up a bundle of noodles.
We heard a clatter to the side of us. We whipped our heads to look towards the woman. She had dropped a spoon and looked a little... surprised?
"Ma'am, are you okay?" I asked softly.
Seokjin only frowned, "Yes, we're on a date. I've even seen him without a shirt and I liked it."
My head snapped over to look at Seokjin, "Hyung!"
"We're planning on going home together," Seokjin added to my horror.
"OKAY!THANKYOUSOMUCHFORTHEMEALWE'REGOINGTOGONOW!" I yelled in one breath, frantically trying to pull my wallet out of my pocket.
"He even has a son so we don't need to adopt. We're going to raise a CHILD. TWO MEN."
"HYUNGSTOPTALKING!" I slammed the money on the table, just knowing I gave more money than was needed.
My face was way too hot and my brain was far too scattered to deal with what Seokjin just did.
I grabbed his hand and began to try to yank him away. It was useless. The man didn't budge.
"I'm going to use the belt tonight because he made me lose an argument."
World.
Just open up and take me now.
It wasn't just the woman who was staring now, it was others around the small market as well. I wanted to melt into the floor.
“Hyung…”I whispered, “If we leave now I’ll buy you cake.”
The ride and stroll home was by far my favorite part of the date. Even though I had to buy Seokjin a pretty expensive slice of cake –I’ve never seen someone shove a whole slice of strawberry cake in their mouth– we still talked the whole way home. Embarrassing stories of our childhoods, who our friends were and everything in between. It was amazing until the dreaded topic was brought up.
“What about Junseok? Does he talk to his mother?”
Fuck.
I looked down at my feet as we walked, thinking over my works. I tried to figure out how I was going to tell this story without being biased or have Seokjin thing badly of Hyejin.
Seokjin must have thought I didn’t want to tell him, “You don’t have to tell me if it’s too sore of a subject…” He added, a little disappointed.
“It’s not that!” I quickly said, looking up as fast as I spoke.
I let out an awkward laugh from my outburst, “It’s just that I don’t know how to really tell the story in a neutral or fair way. I only know one side of the story so it’s a little complicated.”
Seokjin let out a sigh. He reached over to grab my hand and dragged me over to some stairs close by. He sat down and patted beside him, “This sounds like it will take a while, so start from the beginning. We have the time.”
I looked down at him, shaking my head, “You just want to torture my best friend.”
“Looking after that well-behaved, future child of mine, is not torture.” I raised an eyebrow.
“Future child of yours?”
“Just sit down and spill.”
I sighed, and plopped down next to him, this was going to be hard explaining this to someone who didn’t know Hyejin.
“I used to have two best friends. Jeongguk, and Hyejin. Hyejin was a girl and she kinda stuck around us,” I began, trying to keep my eyes dead ahead so I wouldn’t have to look into his eyes. I was almost afraid he would judge me.
“Jeongguk was in sports and had two other friends, Jimin and Taehyung. So sometimes Jeongguk and I couldn’t hang out. I wasn’t mad about it, I mean I didn’t expect him to not have other friends. But Hyejin made it seem like it was like he committed treason,” I scoffed at the ridiculousness, “She kept saying ‘if he’s having fun so should we’.” I mocked her stupid voice.
I could see Seokjin press his lips together to hold back laughter. I sighed and began to rub my hands on my thighs nervously.
“I was an art student. I was trying to keep my grades above average and I didn’t care about having fun. But Hyejin kept going on and on and I knew that she wouldn’t stop until I gave in and went with her at least once. So I did. ” I could feel my heart speed up at the thought of finishing the stupid story that seemed to affect me years later.
“Jimin had told me once that Hyejin was giving me heart eyes. I told him she was our childhood friend, so he was wrong. Jeongguk and I talked about how she seemed to be the most unconvinced when I came out, but I was too idiotic to think she would just let it go.” I could feel anger begin to build and sting the back of my eyes.
“So sure enough, I got black-out drunk and wandered upstairs. I just wanted to pass out and have someone drag me home in the morning. I remember diving onto the bed and texting Jeongguk. I remember Hyejin coming into the room and asking if I was plastered. I remember saying something stupid like ‘I’m not plaster, I’m a person.’. I remember her flipping me over and complaining about taking me home. I just remember her hovering over me. I thought she was just going to complain more and take me home like a decent fucking human being would.”I nearly growled.
Seokjin scooted closer to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. He pulled me close but said nothing, allowing me to continue.
“The last thing I remember was her stupid fucking face hovering over me. I woke up next to her. Being the idiot I was, I woke her up and told her we would keep it a secret. I dumbly thought she was as wasted as me and we just happened to hook up. We didn’t talk about it and I told her that if she brought it up, we wouldn’t be friends anymore.” Even the summarized version made my blood boil.
“A few weeks later, she called in sick to school. When Jeongguk and I called in to check up on her, we were yelled at by her mom. Well… I was yelled at by her mom. I was called a low-life player and a bunch of other stupid shit. When I asked her what the hell her problem was, she told me Hyejin was pregnant.”
“I had to explain to Jeongguk what happened. Of course, Jeongguk was pissed. My family wasn’t very stable financially. But Hyejin’s family was. I had to explain to my parents. They weren’t as hard on me as they could’ve been, but they were disappointed. Jeongguk was the first to say she did it on purpose.”
“I believe him.” Seokjin’s voice was barely above a whisper.
“I do too. I tried to get a job, I mean I was going to have a kid. So I stopped taking school as seriously. I figured if I passed just above the bar it would be enough for art school. Hyejin kept telling me that being a parent was a full-time thing. She wasn’t going to let me go to art school. I told her that I WAS going. There were plenty of fathers in college! I tried damn hard to get above the bar while working. It’s was 8 months of hell with Hyejin. Jeongguk would invite me to hang out with him and his friends, only for Hyejin to somehow find us and tell off Jimin like he was trying to steal me away. I told her to cut it out, only for her to tell me I was hers until the baby was born. Jeong–”
“Bitch.” I choked on air.
Seokjin patted my back as I coughed and sputtered, “Are you okay!?” He questioned, worry written all over his face. My choking turned into laughter as I leaned onto Seokjin’s lap.
“What!? I’m sorry, but that’s crazy stalker level bitchery!” He defended, only causing me to laugh more. Literal tears.
I felt Seokjin’s fingers comb through my hair as he let out small laughs of his own, waiting for me to calm down.
It wasn’t so bad in Seokjin’s lap. It was warm and comforting. Just what I needed for the finale of the horror story. My laughter died down. He didn’t stop playing with my hair as my breath evened out.
“Jeongguk was going to move here. But he stayed until Junseok was born.” I said softly.
I rubbed my face more against his thigh, “That was nice of him.”Seokjin’s voice was feather-light.
“She left us.” I stated.
Seokjin’s fingers froze.
“Her parents were insisting I should marry her. My parents would fight back. A few weeks before Junseok was born, her parents put us in an apartment to live together. My mother hated it. It was pretty high-end. A few days before Junseok was born, Hyejin and I got into a fight about us getting married. I wasn’t going to do it. I would support her and my child. I would make sure he grew up right, but I wasn’t going to trap myself in a loveless marriage. So when Junseok was born. She ignored me almost the whole time. Only waking up to feed him then going back to bed. Jimin, Taehyung, and Jeongguk were more excited to see him than she was. It was no surprise that as soon as she was able to walk around, she packed her things, handed me Junseok and left everything to me.”
I felt wet hit my cheek.
After a moment of confusion, I looked up at Seokjin. His eyes were red, tears beginning to streak down his cheeks.
I quickly sat up to cup his face, “Why are you crying?” I asked, trying to wipe away as many tears as I would.
“He’s such a great son. Why wouldn’t she just give him a chance?!” I’ve never seen him so hurt and angry.
I let out a sigh, “She came back last year. She tried to act like nothing happened. She just kept coming over and saying I was the problem for not giving her a chance. He knows her as his aunt, which creeps me out. So I moved so she would leave us alone. She just knows I’m in Seoul.” I sagged my shoulders and dropped my hands to his thighs.
“Well she can suck my ass he’s my son now.”
“WHY IS EVERYONE TRYING TO CLAIM MY SON??” I demanded.
Seokjin chuckled, “I’m telling you, he’s a great boy. You did perfect.” His voice was soft and comforting.
He placed his hand in my hair to ruffle it, “You and your son are perfect for me.”
He’s face was still blotched red. His eyes shined with the light and his nose was as red as his ears. He was beautiful. It hurt to see him cry, but I couldn’t help the fondness that built in my chest.
“You’re perfect for us too.” I whispered.
His eyes turned into crescents as his smile grew.
“You’re even handsome when you cry.” I smirked.
“Yah!” The switch flipped.
Seokjin drew back to smack the back of my head, “I’m starting to think you only want me around for my looks!”
“That’s not true!” I rubbed the back of my head with a pout, “I keep you around because you cook and make dad jokes.”
“…Do you appreciate them?”
“Very much so.”
“…Then I will continue to stay.”
Seokjin and I walked into the apartment building hand-in-hand. I would occasionally swing our hands, being the idiot I was. Seokjin had a thing for winking at people who stared, which I had to scold him for.
Upon exiting the elevator, Seokjin turned to me, “How about I hang out at your apar-”
A loud shriek cut Seokjin off. Making us both jump and look down the hall.
“JUNSEOK GIVE ME THE BASKET OF TOWELS!!!” I could hear Jeongguk’s muffled yelling from in the apartment.
“SECRET AGENT SEOK WILL USE THEM TO ESCAPE THE EVIL VILLAIN!”
“YOU USE THEM TO CLIMB OUT THE WINDOW AND I WILL GRAB SCIS- STOP TYING THEM TOGETHER YOUR FATHER WILL KILL ME!”
I let out a deep sigh, turning to Seokjin, “You still sure he’s a good son?”
Seokjin gave me a big smile, “He’s tormenting Jeongguk. He’s the best son.”
I could hear Junseok scream.
“SCREAM ALL YOU WANT! YOU CAN’T GO OUT THE WINDOW!!!”
Seokjin let out a sigh of his own, his hand tightened around mine, “Let’s go handle our son, shall we?”

standrew high school au!
is there a more hallowed high school tradition than having your first kiss on a school bus on the way back from a field trip? probably, but that’s what I went with for this!
no warnings, because this is just pure goddamn fluff, like approximately 85% of what I write.
exactly 2.5k, on ao3 here.
an endless yearning in your heart.
Ordinarily, by this time of night, Andrew would be in bed.
If he wasn’t already asleep, he would probably be under the covers, reading a book by the dim glow of his bedside lamp and absently petting his cat. Maybe, depending on the night, he would be lying in the dark, talking to Steven on the phone and trying not to drift off or say something incredibly stupid, something like I love you or I wish you were here with me.
Tonight, however, is no ordinary night.
Even though it’s just past midnight on a Friday, he’s in the back seat of a school bus, an hour and a half away from home. They were supposed to be back from their field trip, which was a full day of museum hopping followed by a movie, three hours ago, but barely five minutes after they’d left the theater, the back tire on their bus had abruptly exploded. They’d had to wait in the empty parking lot of a big-box store for a replacement to arrive, swathed in a sickly yellow glow from the towering lights overhead. At first, there had been an excited energy to the air, an energy that manifested itself in shouts and sudden explosions of laughter and darting movements as people chased after each other, an energy brought on by the sheer novelty of the situation.
By the end of the first hour, the energy had waned. By the time they all trooped back onto the bus, it had almost vanished. While some of his classmates had gotten a brief second wind once they were back on the road, it had quickly died, plunging the bus into a near-silence that has persisted for the most part, broken only by snippets of whispered conversation and the occasional snore or snuffle (some coming from across the aisle, where Adam and Annie are fast asleep).
Outside, the world whizzing by the dirty windows is dark. The traffic is light at this time of night, and only occasionally does a lit-up billboard appear on the side of the road, as bright as an artificial moon. Inside, the glow of a laptop screen coming from a few rows up is illuminating a small patch of the riveted ceiling in eerily blue light. The glow doesn’t quite reach to the back row, but it provides enough illumination for Andrew to make out the outline of Steven’s face, mere inches away from him. From there, his mind is more than able to fill in the details, able to sketch in Steven’s dark, expressive eyes and the upturn of his nose and the slight quirk of his mouth.
Even though the seat is wide enough to fit two people without them touching, Steven is leaning against Andrew’s side, with his head canted over to rest on Andrew’s shoulder. His hair is tickling Andrew’s neck, impossibly soft, like a butterfly kiss. His knees are braced against the back of the seat in front of them, and every so often, when they go over a particularly large bump, one of his dangling feet bumps into Andrew’s thigh.
They haven’t talked since they got on the interstate - trying to carry on a conversation at such a low volume felt like more effort than it was worth - but they’re listening to music from Steven’s phone, sharing a pair of earbuds. Andrew’s heard the album before, usually in the background of their study sessions; the music itself is soft and quiet, mostly acoustic guitar and piano, but the singer has a soaring, melodic voice perfectly suited to the bittersweet lyrics of heartbreak and love.
If Andrew was sitting beside anyone else, he’d be trying to get some sleep, with his sweater stuck between his head and the window to try and absorb some of the bumps. As is, even though he is tired, even though his eyes ache to close, there’s nervous energy coiled underneath his skin, concentrated in the places where him and Steven are pressed together. Every time one of them moves, no matter how minutely, the touch buries under his skin and flushes him with heat. When Steven moves his head slightly, so that his cheek is resting against Andrew’s chest, Andrew has to try and disguise his sudden gasp as a cough.
The thing is, he should be used to this by now. This thing isn’t new; he’s had a crush on Steven since ninth grade, practically from the first time he saw him. He should have trained these reactions out of himself long ago, should have figured out how to keep his skin from igniting every time Steven so much as brushes against him.
Should have, but hasn’t.
And now, even though he should be trying to get some sleep, all he can focus on is Steven: on the pale smudge of his hand where it’s resting against his own thigh, on the way his lips are moving soundlessly to the lyrics, on the way his shoulder presses into Andrew’s whenever they go over a bump. In fact, he’s so distracted by Steven’s general existence that, when the album draws to a close and a muted kind of quiet fills the earbud, it takes him a few moments to realize it. He waits to see if Steven will find something else for them to listen to, but aside from rubbing his cheek gently against Andrew’s chest (probably to scratch an itch), he remains motionless.
It’s all too possible that Steven simply hasn’t noticed yet - maybe he’s too busy caught up in his own thoughts, thoughts of the post-graduation world that awaits them in only a few months, or something less ominous. Maybe he’s on the verge of dozing off. Either way, when the silence starts to become oppressive, Andrew turns his head and gently knocks his shoulder against Steven’s.
“Steven?” he asks, pitching his voice low so that he doesn’t wake up the people sitting in front of them.
“Yeah?” Steven straightens up slightly and turns his own head, so that his chin is resting on Andrew’s shoulder.
Just like that, Andrew forgets what he was going to say.
They’re close enough that their noses are almost brushing. Andrew can feel Steven’s breath ghosting against his mouth, and they’re pressed together from shoulder to hip.
Andrew’s heart feels like it’s going to stop or catch on fire.
“Uh,” he says as he struggles to find his voice again. The smartest thing for him to do would be to pull away before he does something stupid, but there must be a miscommunication between his mind and muscles, because he doesn’t move. “The album is over.”
“Oh.” Steven glances down at his phone but doesn’t make a move to turn it on. “You’re right.” The words are shaky as they leave his mouth - Andrew is familiar enough with Steven’s vocal patterns to know that he doesn’t imagine it. But he doesn’t have a definitive answer as to why they’re shaky. It could be from being tired or it could be because he’s feeling uncomfortable.
Or it could be from something else. Maybe, just maybe, the unsteadiness in Steven’s voice is being caused by the same thing that’s making Andrew’s chest too tight.
Perhaps it’s because of the darkness surrounding them and the lack of prying eyes, but while Andrew would normally be quick to dismiss that possibility as wishful thinking, tonight, he wants to know with certainty if that possibility is reality.
Carefully, he inches his hand out of his own lap and moves it over, bit by bit, until it’s bumping against the side of Steven’s leg. He pauses for a moment, both to gauge Steven’s reaction and to take a deep breath of preparation to move a little further.
Before he can let the breath out, Steven’s hand lands on top of his.
Andrew glances down, unable to see more than the faint outline of their hands, and pauses again, just in case Steven made a mistake. Instead, Steven wiggles his hand underneath Andrew’s and flips it over, palm up. Without thinking, Andrew shifts slightly, and that’s all it takes for their fingers to slot together. He can almost hear them click together in his mind.
He’s pretty sure that his whole body is going to catch on fire, never mind his heart.
“Do you want to listen to something else?” The words stumble out of his mouth; he’s pretty sure the only reason he manages to get them out at all is because he’s still looking down at their intertwined hands, not at Steven’s face. When he glances back up, he swallows heavily. Shaking his head, Steven’s chin momentarily digs sharply into the meat of Andrew’s shoulder before he moves closer.
“No,” he stutters. He’s so close that Andrew nearly swallows the word. “Do you?”
Andrew shakes his head, takes a deep, steadying breath, and squeezes Steven’s hand.
“No.” His head feels barely attached to his shoulders, and his stomach has dropped to the floor. This isn’t his first kiss - that particular honor went to Eugene during a round of truth or dare in freshman year - but he’s never been this nervous to kiss someone, never been so worried about fucking up. After using his free hand to tug his earbud out so that it doesn’t get in the way, he carefully turns slightly and, with shaking fingers, drops his palm to the smooth curve of Steven’s cheek. Steven makes a quiet sound, an unsteady oh that is quite possibly the loveliest thing Andrew has ever heard.
“Andrew,” he whispers, craning his cheek into the contact. Andrew’s imagined what it would be like to hear Steven say his name like this, breathy and quiet, but what he created in the confines of his mind barely holds a candle to the real thing.
“Can I?” He’s fairly certain that he knows the answer, but he needs to be sure - there’s no way that he’s going to take a step over this line on a hunch, even if it’s one he’s mostly confident about.
Steven nods fervently and abruptly moves forward. With a quiet clunk, their foreheads collide, and even as Andrew momentarily winces, he can’t help but laugh, barely louder than a huff.
“Oh God, I’m so sorry,” Steven begins. Before he can keep going, possibly launch into an apology that will wake up the entire bus, Andrew leans in and does what he’s been dreaming of for literal years.
Namely, kisses Steven.
Steven makes another one of those tiny sounds, a quiet oh, and squeezes Andrew’s hand, almost to the point of pain, before he slumps against Andrew’s side and opens his mouth a little wider. His lips are chapped, and there’s a slight divot on the bottom one from where he’s always pressing his teeth in. Andrew wants more than anything to gently press his own teeth there, see how they fit, but he’s not going to ruin this by moving too fast.
Hopefully, there will be plenty of time in the future for him to explore all the possibilities filling his head. For now, his only goal is to make Steven’s first kiss something that he won’t regret.
All too soon, when the bus goes over another particularly large bump, they break away from each other. Andrew slowly opens his eyes and rubs his thumb along the ridge of Steven’s cheekbone. There’s a lump in his throat that feels suspiciously like his own heart, and he has to swallow before he can speak.
“Was that okay?”
Steven nods and bumps his nose against Andrew’s. “Can we do it again?”
Andrew almost laughs, not because it’s an absurd question, but because he can’t believe he’s lucky enough to hear it.
“Yeah,” he answers, tamping the laugh down and leaning back in. “Definitely.”
After their second kiss comes to an end, Steven actually laughs, quiet but giddy. He doesn’t ask for a third; he simply leans in for it, and Andrew meets him halfway, has to try and quell his grin so that he can kiss Steven properly.
Eventually, once their kisses have turned open-mouthed and firm, Andrew decides to take a chance on something. Carefully, he brushes his tongue against the swell of Steven’s bottom lip, as gently as he can manage.
He’s prepared for Steven to have some kind of reaction, to maybe sigh quietly or gasp or tighten his fingers around Andrew’s. Instead, he shuddersfrom head to toe. The movement reverberates through Andrew, where they’re pressed together, and he fails to bite back a moan from deep in his chest. Already, if there’s one thing he’s learned, it’s that Steven is so damn responsive, and while Andrew doesn’t want to get ahead of himself, his mind is racing with thoughts of how beautifully Steven might react if Andrew got his mouth on the long curve of his neck or the smooth skin of his chest.
As much as he doesn’t want to, he thinks that maybe it’s time for them to pull back a bit, before things get a little too heated or they manage to wake someone up. After another gentle brush of his tongue (and another shudder in return), he backs away and presses a softer kiss to the corner of Steven’s mouth. He opens his eyes, wishing that the lights were up so that he could actually get a good look at Steven, so that he could memorize the image of his flushed cheeks and his swollen lips panting for breath.
“Wanna come over tomorrow?” Steven asks, bracing his forehead against Andrew’s. He sounds breathless, overwhelmed, and for a moment, Andrew almost rethinks his decision to put a pause on things.
But they can always pick up where they left tomorrow, in Steven’s bed, which is a hell of a lot more comfortable than the bus seat.
“Yeah,” he answers. A grin blossoms across his face, a grin that he couldn’t restrain even if he wanted to. “What time?”
“As soon as I wake up. Whenever that’s gonna be.”
“Maybe we should try and get some sleep now then, so that we don’t sleep in as late tomorrow.” Even in the dark, Andrew is able to see the flash of grin that Steven shoots him before he leans for another quick kiss.
“You always have the best ideas.” Scooting down lower in the seat, which sends his knees further up the back of the seat in front of them, he drops his head back to Andrew’s shoulder. Bringing their still intertwined hands up to his mouth, he presses another soft kiss against Andrew’s knuckles before he lowers them back down to his lap and starts thumbing at his phone with his free hand. After a moment, the album that they were listening to before starts playing again. “Goodnight, Andrew.”
With an utterly content sigh, Andrew drops his head on top of Steven’s, presses his face into the soft mop of Steven’s hair, and closes his eyes.
“Goodnight, Steven.”

Polaris Part Three
Parts: Preview, Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four (Coming soon!)
Genre: Action, drama, romance, sci-fi, etc.
Paring: Jongin x Character
Word count: 7.0K
A/N: Warning for sexual assault and mentions of sex with minors. I know. Just so y’all know, Tribil SUCKS. I obviously do not condone this. Just warning about character past stuff.
I groaned, opening my eyes and move, trying to sit up. I look over, seeing Kyungsoo, who was currently in pants and a sweater sitting as he played a game on his Reader. He glances up, quickly closing the game and moving over. “How are you,” He asks, looking at me with cautious eyes.
“Peachy,” I say, starting to lean up. I hiss in pain, as he stands, helping me. “Thank you. For you know, saving my life and all that.”
“You’re welcome for saving your life and all that,” He says with a smile. “You’re in your room. I just traded with Jongin for a little bit to watch you and make sure you don’t accidentally rip your stitches open.”
“I can picture his pout now,” I say, wincing, holding my side.
Kyungsoo shakes his head, “Actually, he agreed immediately. You probably wouldn’t be alive if he didn’t put his hand over your wound, though I’m not going to tell him that.”
I frown, “Thank you. He’d hold it over me forever.”
“He… Lyra, Jongin hates losing people. He hates people dying, especially if he thinks there’s even a microscopic change he could have done something about it,” Kyungsoo says, pointing at my shirt, “I need to change the dressing of your wound. Lift your shirt.”
“Yes Sir,” I say, pulling it up. I didn’t know how to react to what he just told me about Jongin. For the most part he just gives off this air of confidence and pigheadedness. A lot of people tell me he isn’t like that, and, I suppose, there could be another side to the man who makes my life difficult.
“You don’t have to call me Sir,” He says, “I hate it. Well, except Baekhyun and Chanyeol. They keep picking on me, so I try to intimidate them.”
I smile, watching as he quickly and with care removes the bandage and replaces it easily. I smile at him, as he moves out the room to throw away the used bangade. Sehun slips in the door after he leaves, as he moves, sitting on my bed next to me. His beautiful face marred with red eyes and a look of sadness. “Thank you,” He says, taking my hand in his. Sehun is a very touchy person, though not with everyone. He and I are friends, but he’s never been the type to hug me or touch me like he does with his other friends.
I just smile, “Well, we can’t deny the Milky Way a chance to see your beautiful face, now can we, pretty boy?”
He just smiles, looking up. “Seriously, Lyra, I would have been dead if it wasn’t for you. I don’t know how to ever repay you.”
I smile at him, patting his shoulder. The Etherion was older than me, but somehow more… I don’t know… scared. Sehun’s greatest fear is letting those around him down. Knowing him he probably thought he let us all down by getting hit while he was flying. Stupid. I smile, it was growing more into a smirk as I just give him a smug look. “How about you finally admit you have a crush on the Phoenix Captain and we call it even, hm,” I say with a small smile.
His eyes go wide, his face flushing as he just pouts. “Shut up, Lang. That’s an order.”
“Nah,” I say with a grin. It’s been so obvious for ages. Sehun would help him with whatever he needed. Need someone to spar against? Sehun would come back bruised and grinning from ear to ear. Yixing needs someone to run an errand? Sehun would do it even if someone of his rank shouldn’t. He did whatever he could to try and help the special forces member. It was cute. I just smile at his blush as Kyungsoo opens the door, only to have Minseok following him.
Minseok smiles, moving and sitting down on Jongin’s bed. I do a little salute, “Major General, sir.”
“Stop with that,” He says, scolding me. “Lyra, thank you. For saving Sehun. I can’t… He’s like a brother to me, that kid.”
“I mean I wasn’t going to let him die,” I say, earning a laugh from Kyungsoo. The doctor lifts my shirt with ease as I lie down, wincing a bit. He peels the leftover tape off as Minseok looks over.
He hisses, “Ouch.”
Kyungsoo just nods, “The stitches look great. Let me rebandage you and you’ll be ready for dinner.”
“Cool,” I say. It was quick, and with their help, I was able to stand. The pain in my side was sharp, but I pushed through it with a hiss and multiple curses.
As Kyungsoo left the room, he looks to the side, “Jongin still asleep?”
“Sehun went to wake him,” Junmyeon says, from his position in the pilot’s seat.
I move, sitting down in the easiest seat and the end of the bench, groaning in pain as I rest against the table. I sighed, looking up to see Kyungsoo set a glass of water and some pills down for me. I smile, seeing Sehun and Jongin come from the hallway. Jongin looks up, his eyes looking over me with worry. I look at him, taking in how he looks. In sweatpants and a tanktop, hair an unruly mess. He, even if he just woke up, looked exhausted. The type of tired that settles in your bones for a while until you can finally relax a little. I look at his arm, seeing the bandage. I vaguely remember digging my nails into him. The look of absolute brokenness as he watched, glancing down at me as he did what he could to help.
“Sorry,” I say, pointing to his arm. Sure, I didn’t like the man, but having him there really helped. Being able to just hold something in the moment was better than having nothing at all to distract myself from the pain. Even if the distraction was small.
He looks confused, looking down at his arm, “Oh… No, it’s ok. If it helped that’s all that matter.”
Yixing hops over the bench, sliding into the seat next to me, placing a tablet down. “I examined Sehun’s fighter for you. Looks like the thruster on the right is almost completely done for. Probably not worth trying to repair.”
I look it over, pushing a button on the screen that makes a 3D hologram above the tablet. I spin it, looking it over. I sigh, “I’m going to have to make a whole new thruster. Fuck.”
Sehun slides into the booth, pulling Jongin down with him, who lazily followed. “Sorry,” Sehun says, grimincing.
“It’s fine,” I say, “If you want I can take one off the spare so you can use your Fighter.”
“Not like that you can’t,” Kyungsoo says, looking over his shoulder as he put oven mitts on his hands. “It’ll be three days for you to heal completely because of the Evo-DNA.”
“In three days I’ll do it then,” I say, rolling my eyes, quickly picking up the water and pill. It had an awful after taste. “If you’d like, I’m sure Chanyeol could easily move the thruster to Sehun’s Fighter. Super easy to do. Well all had to learn that.”
Chanyeol nods, giving a thumbs up. His grin is huge, “Sure can! They’re the same as bombers, but, you know, a bit smaller.”
Sehun smiles, nodding. “That would be great!”
Kyungsoo sets a bowl in front of me, a soup with some bread to the side. “Eat. You need your strength.”
Junmyeon stands, “Going on Autopilot.” He stretches, looking at us. He moves, pushing Jongin to the table as I grab my spoon. “Eat, and then get back to sleep,” He says, voice stern, but somehow still very tender.
Jongin just nods, not even arguing. Sehun told me that Jongin loves to sleep. Even if he got nightmares, he loved to sleep. I start to eat my soup, watching as each of his three brothers look over him, making sure he was ok. Jongin pouted, whining, “Just because I’m the youngest doesn’t mean to all have to baby me!”
“That’s exactly what that means,” Jongdae says, looking over with worry. “Kid, you almost get killed every time to go out and fly.”
Minseok nods, making taken a seat and eating soup from a mug. It was more like he was drinking it, which was odd. “We can’t do anything when you’re out there. We can’t help you then. So you’re going to let us take care of you when we can.”
I finish my soup as I look, seeing Jongin roll his eyes.
Kyungsoo smiles, having eaten quickly already. Yixing was the fastest eater, practically devouring his bowl in less than a minute. Something about being trained to do that, to eat quickly so he could get back to work. He was sitting next to Baekhyun, playing against him in a game of chess. The reader lying flat made a hologram of a chess board and pieces. It looked solid, hiding the reader, but it had to move on voice commands.
Baekhyun was practically ripping his hair out. He was examining the board with a frustrated gaze as Yixing was leaning against his hand, looking more bored than if he weren’t playing. Chanyeol and Junmyeon both moving the thruster from the other fighter over. From what I hear, it’s going well. Jongin was drawing something on his tablet, Kyungsoo looking over once in a while as he was cleaning his laser pistol.
“Ummm… Oh! Knight to E5,” He says, grinning. The piece moves, flickering as the knight piece turns, using its hind legs to kick Yixing’s queen in the face. Baekhyun smiles, looking at Yixing with a look of huge satisfaction. “Good luck! Today I win!”
Yixing, looking unbothered, as he just muttered, “Rook to F7. Checkmate.”
Baekhyun’s mouth falls as he looks, watching as the castle piece goes to his king, ramming it into pieces. “I… what the fuck?”
“Your king was hidden by your knight. I’ve had that rook there waiting to take it when you finally moved it for five moves,” Yixing says, the smallest of smiles on his face.
Baekhyun just let out a loud yell of a curse. Kyungsoo glared at him, rolling his eyes. I laugh, watching as Yixing just pats Baekhyun’s shoulder.
“Oh,” Kyungsoo says, “You can go back to your room, Jongin. Lyra should be fine unless she decides to do yoga or something.”
Jongin nods, “Alright,” He says, before getting back to his drawing.
I sign, getting up, “I think I’m going to go to sleep, actually. I’m oddly exhausted.”
“Being in pain is very tiring,” Kyungsoo says. “The more rest you get the quicker you’ll feel.”
I look at everyone, “Make sure they don’t completely fuck up the thruster, yeah?”
Jongin gives me a thumbs up, “Trust me, Sehun won’t let that happen.”
I smile, moving and slowly shuffling back to my bed. Sitting down was hard, but the softness of the mattress was wonderful. It was like being on a cloud. I close my eyes, trying to calm down and rest. My memories won’t leave me be, seeing the Kryton again. I haven’t seen one that close ever. The closest they’ve gotten to me was over 10 feet. The worst part was the smell. I thought it was awful before, but, as it turns out, it was worse up close.
I hear the door open as I close my eyes, attempting to pretend to be sleeping. I open my eyes a little bit, to peek out. Jongin sits on his bed, setting his bag on the ground. He sighs, looking back at the picture he put on the wall. The frown grows for a moment, before he sets his reader on the bedside desk. From his bag he takes a pen like thing, clicking it on. He takes something else, a glove, pulling it on. It was the same color as the pen, a black, with chip like things on the fingertips.
He presses it to the wall, moving it and leaving a strand of light in its way. It looked like neon, as he uses the glove touching it. From a menu, he turns the brightness down as changes the color. I was mesmerized, watching him as his pen glides. He changes the colors, carefully placing every line. Soon, it was a face, as he starts to carve out the details. Making the nose the perfect shape, using a very light white for the hair. He spent a long time perfecting it. When he finally moves away for a second, I see the face, clear as day.
She had white hair, bright purple eyes. Her lips were in a smile, looking happy and full of joy. Her lips… they looked like Jongin’s. It clicked. The woman he drew was his mother. They looked so alike. She looked beautiful, as he used the glove to make it smaller, pinching it between two fingers and moving it along the wall, some place where he could see it.
They had the same eyes. The same lips. All of the Kim’s had the same eyes, but apparently the youngest was graced with more of their mother’s features. One thing I couldn’t help but to notice is how… carefree she looked. People as happy as her are usually not involved with the Syndicate at all.
Jongin lets out a loud yawn, before pulling his tank top over his head and tossing it over into his dirty clothes basket. He was under the covers quickly, turning the light off from the bed as he turns, having the wall.
It’s weird, seeing someone who’s such an obnoxious ass be… well, not like an obnoxious ass. He’s backed off, not asking me or taunting me for my mistake. It was confusing. I can’t help but wonder more about him. There’s more to him then just what’s on the surface. Wondering more about him and the woman he drew, my eyes fluttered closed.
The next two weeks went by in a blur after I was allowed to work again. The thruster was built in record time as I threw myself back into work. Then came fixing a few minor dings and such in the metal outer shell. Sehun took the job of painting it himself, as most Fighter pilots do. The weirdest thing was Jongin not really speaking with me. When he does, it’s one or two words. Granted this is what I wanted for ages, but for it to happen, it feels like something is wrong.
We are expected to get to Ysimir in a few moments, Baekhyun already telling them over comms of out impending arrival. The president, an Etherion by the name of Histor Yssa, told us that he welcomes us and will provide rooms for our stay. He also mentioned General Kim, and how delighted he was to help not only the Syndicate, but the sons of his friend. I could see each of the brothers tense at that, which I found odd but decided not to comment.
“Have you ever been to Ysimir,” Chanyeol asks, watching as we approach the planet. I know a little of the planet. It was mostly purple, as that was the color of the acidic seas there. They’ve managed to turn some of the lakes into fresh and salt water, man made and natural. It allows for some fish from other planets to be shipped over.
“No,” I say, shaking my head, “But I’ve heard some… unsavory things.”
Jongdae laughs, “I assume it’s the saying? Wystria is the planet of love, Ysimir the one of sin?” He says, wearing the same uniform as the other higher in command. The metals on his jacket, a few from fighting but most from fighting for justice in the courtroom. Draping from his shoulder to below the arm was a piece of purple ribbon, noting that he was of the Justice branch. Minseok’s was silver, since he was the commander of EXO Prime. Junmyeon’s was a light blue, same as Beakhyun. Yixing’s was black with single red line through the middle. His suit was covered in metals from his many battles. Kyungsoo’s was green for a medical officer. Jongin and Sehun’s were red, noting that they are Fighter pilots.
Since they are all higher ranks, they wear formal uniforms like that. Chanyeol and I do not have to. We wore our usual underclothes. Pants that are dark blue with a lot of pockets and a simple dark blue jacket of the same material. Under we both wore sleeveless shirts, as they get in the way when you’re working.
On all of our chests were name tags. They were screens, which said out name and would shimmer, changing the letter to say our ranks. It was made into the clothes. Some are even made in clothes for design to shimmer and with moving patterns. They’re costly, which explains my lack of any, but they are really awesome.
We land, letting the door open as we walkout. The air heavily scented with all the flowers that are around. The place we landed had the sea behind us, the purple acid lapping at the force wall that protected the rock. There were some things in the air sailing, people having fun and over by a pool which reaches just a few meters to the left. People from all over the galaxies come here, some are even rich enough to live here. The leaves on the trees are even floral scented. It was like a light, pleasant perfume. Nothing too strong, but just perfect. The music was hypnotic, the building closest to us the metal base. Small, about a hundred times smaller than the one on EXO Prime. To the left was a glittering massive building. It spiraled up in golden spears, like it was reaching for the sky.
“Wow,” I mutter, looking around with my eyes wide.
“You act like you’ve never seen a place like this,” Chanyeol says, smiling broadly.
I shake my head, looking over at him. I see a few people in out group looking over, probably more curious. Jongin does, keeping quiet with no biting remarks for once. “All I’ve ever seen besides space stations is EXO Prime and Tribil.”
Chanyeol nods, smile falling. He pats my back, “No wonder. This place is the exact opposite of Tribil from what I hear.”
He’s right. Tribil was a desolate wasteland where you’re more likely to starve than anything else. All the higher up government officials and rich gold and Quantinium miners are taking all the credits for themselves. The only ways to earn some money are few and far between. One way to make a living is to either run errands for a little that, if you save three days could feed you two meals. Not two days. Two meals. Mostly of bread and dehydrated meat. The other is work in the mines. They’ll feed you and shelter you, but you live in a small house with thirty other people and the food is rationed out. They keep you just fed enough to work but not enough to revolt.
The last way is to sell yourself. If you’re pretty, someone will find a use for you, so long as you stay pretty. Then they will throw you away and you’ll be left to die. Tribil’s laws are awful. Through some loophole they manage to not have to follow the standard Syndicate laws for planets under our protection. That’s not to say sex work is illegal, just safer and… well, usually doesn’t include minors. The Syndicate’s hands are tied, since they need the Quantinum in order to create our forcefields and walls. Since Tribil sells half of what they mine to the Syndicate at a forty percent discount, they don’t want to anger them either.
Yixing’s face get’s a hint of anger on it at the mention of our shared home. Something tells me it wasn’t a fond time for him, either.
That we have in common. Tribil killed the only family I had. I was an orphan, but, growing up, there was someone like a brother to me. He was four years older than me and, in order to survive, he went to the mines. He’d save up the few credits they would get and send it to me. Then, he was killed. Mining accident. Quantinum is very dangerous and explosions are very common.
After that, I was starving and hungry. I’d do odd jobs for people. Every now and then I’d find myself in a fancy hotel on my back, letting someone have their way with me. I didn’t like to think about it, since I was very young. They were rare times, and I was happy when I was accepted into the Syndicate so I could put those days behind me.
I was pulled out of my thoughts from an elbow to the side from Chanyeol. A man in a suit that shimmered like a night sky, his white hair pushed back as his one purple eye glitter. The other was replaced with a robotic one. This eyes are rimmed in black and his lips covered with a deep shade of red. He smiles, smoking a cigar holding a glass out in a cheers motion. The bubbling liquid was a light pink with some fruit pieces. He laughed, “Hello Major General Minseok! I’ve heard a lot about you!”
Minseok steps forward, nodding and shaking his hand. While Ysimir isn’t Syndicate controlled, they allow the Syndicate to have a base here in order to refuel and fix any minor damages. In return, the planets near keep the Krytons away from here and, if they are attacked, the Syndicate quickly responds.
“You look so much like your father,” Histor Yssa says, “Old fuck. One day I’ll convince him to take that stick out of his ass!”
Minseok smirks, nodding, “If you manage it, I will buy your drinks for life!”
Histor lets out a belly aching laugh, putting his arm over Minseok’s shoulder, “So, please, introduce me to this collective you’ve brought with you. Obviously I can tell your brothers, but, since we’ve never met…”
Minseok gestures, “Brigadier General Kim Junmyeon.”
Junmyeon nods, shaking his hand and bowing a little, “Pleasure to meet you, president.”
And it went down the line until he got to Sehun, who was standing next to me. Histor smiles, “One of my own! How much?”
“Half,” Sehun says, nodding. Etherions are always curious about how ‘pure’ the blood is. They, for the most part, are never ‘pure’ anymore. Their planet was taken over a hundred years back by their neighbors. They killed half and then enslaved the rest. Twenty years ago The Syndicate helped the Etherion people take it back. Now it is a melting pot of all different types of people. It’s still recovering from that time under the Victris rule. Half Etherion is the most people ever are, anymore, and they are rare to find. It makes him a little uncomfortable, and for obvious reasons, but that’s how his people are, anymore.
The president’s eyes are wide, “My, it’s rare to see someone so pure!” He says, placing a hand on Sehun’s shoulder, “I’m only a third myself, thankfully my mother was beautiful for a human!”
Sehun just nods, looking cool and calm as the president's eyes look to me.
“Master Sergeant Lyra Lang,” I say, shaking his hand. He smiles, looking me over
“Mrs. Lang, may I ask what it is you do,” He says, taking a sip from his drink after moving his cigar for a moment. His eyes went along my body, which was hard for me not to make a comment about. Etherions, for the most part, are obsessed with beauty and bloodlines.
“I’m the Fighter mechanic,” I say, nodding. Something about him makes me feel a bit weird, but it could be because I’ve never met someone so… ostentatious.
He grins, “Wonderful! I was wondering why you looked so strong!” Before I could say anything he polishes off his drink, handing it to one of the people behind him. “If you would follow Klause, he would show you all to your sweets! We’ve got you staying at the best hotel on the planet,” He says, before bowing, “I must get back to work, but rest assured I will meet you all for dinner!”
The ride to the building was quick. The rest of the city was in the valley below, looking just like jewels surrounded by lush foliage. A large waterfall of acid to the side, which goes through a machine about a fourth of the way down that turned it into water. I look back, seeing the huge hotel. So, we were there, Aurora. Hotel and casino. There are a few from where I come from, but only people who are filthy rich or those who are offering their services are allowed. I walk along, looking around. Tanks filled with sea creatures I’ve never seen before, bright lights and pieces of art that looked magnificent. The floor marble as we walked though. People lining up at betting stations, watching sporting events from all over with anticipation and excitement. I could hear people celebrating in the casino as we pass. People dressed just like the President. The suits and dresses all with moving patterns of every color. Soon, we’re led to an elevator.
“A whole floor was given to you for your use,” The voice says of the man who led us as the door opens. Klause was tall, his skin a pale orange. He was very human like, save for his eyes, which are reptilian and his tongue, which was thin and forked. He bows, “Choose whatever room you like. Room service is for free for you all. Dinner with President Yssa scheduled at 19 hundred hours, which is in ten hours. Until then you may spend your time however you wish.”
I nod, before moving and picking the closest room to my right. The walls were a lovely shade of light blue. The decor was very… royal, I suppose. Looking like it was fit for a queen. It was a large room. Living room and small kitchen. The bedroom was huge, the bed looking inviting.I open the door to the bathroom, peeking in. A smile, seeing the tub. It’ll be nice to have a relaxing bath. I nod to myself setting my bag down and sigh, falling into bed. I smile, letting out a little laugh as I move, setting my reader to 19 hundred hours Ysimir time. Quickly I take of my boots and throwing my coat onto the chair to the side. This place is known for their late night dinners and their twenty two hour days, I learned having read up on it a little before we got here.
A few moments later, I hear a knock at my door.
I move with a groan, getting up and moving. They knocked again, “I’m coming!”
I throw the door open, before being pushed inside and having the door closed. I didn’t even get a look at the person’s face before they were inside, looking down. Yixing stares at me, before grabbing my wrist and shining a green light down on my skin.
The Tribian triangle mark on my skin glowed. The old tattoo like thing I got when I was nine. There were small roses on either side of the tattoo, along with the Tribian letter which stood for the common letter A. For approved. I pull my wrist back, glaring. No one on any other planet has those lights but Tribians. Only we know about the ‘tattoos’. It’s not a thing we like to talk about. They use the lights to to check people, see if they are an approved sex worker. If you’re not approved, you’ll be rejected by everyone. It costs nothing, all you have to do is be checked to make sure you’re not carrying any diseases. Once a week you get checked if you perform services everyday, but I went about once a month.
The truth was, they are not tattoos. They’re small nano technology embedded into the skin designed to be hidden. It makes us do whatever someone commands of us if they have the Master one. The triangle with a crown and the Tribian letter for M. So long as someone has that mark, we are powerless. When you are hungry, you’ll do anything.
Yixing’s eyes were wide, his hands shaking. He looks up, his eyes holding anger. They started to swell with tears, “How old?”
I look down, before looking back at him with a glare, shoving him. “Why the fuck should I tell you?!”
He pushes his sleeve up, shining the light on his wrist. The same glowing design. “I was six,” He says, the tears of anger slipping down his face. “I remember seeing you… then man who… the one who liked me wanted a new one. A younger one. He cut it off with me and found someone else.” He says, his voice eerily calm. Yixing looked at me, “Sir Ulysl.”
I looked up, my eyes wide. “He… he was the first I ever… I was nine.”
Yixing sighs, taking a moment to wipe his eyes. He looks back to me. “I’m sorry. For doing this. For not asking. I know it’s a sensitive subject.”
“I had to,” I say, shrugging. “It’s wrong, but everything is wrong on Tribil. You know how it is. You do what you have to in order to live.”
I could see the anger held back in his posture. He was tense, glaring at the ground like it killed someone precious to him. It’s something that’s in all of us, the poor Tribians. An unrelenting anger when we think about the past. About how people are still being used like that. Yixing looks up, eyes meeting mine. “I saw Rhys in the casino,” He mutters, looking up. “He will probably be at our dinner tonight. How would the President not invite oldest member of the Tribian monarchy to dinner, after all?”
Those words take my breath away. I remember times, in the highest room of the largest building. Iscar Rhys, the then king of Tribil. My willingness to do whatever he wanted because the pain in my stomach was getting unbearable. Whatever he wanted, I did. At different times in my life. Starting when I was nine. I remember him saying he wanted to teach us how he liked it. My stomach feeling uneasy, thinking about how a man in his mid thirties acted like what he was doing to a nine year old was normal.
“What made you want to tell me that,” I ask, trying not to give away how awful that name made me felt.
“I was one of the highest requested, Lyra… and he only asked for me twice,” He says. “All of the professional ones, we talk. Mostly about how much we hated all the people we were fucking. We see every single one of the people who only did it sometimes, making bets if they were ever going to go full time,” He explains, leaning against the wall. “As long as we had one who was sweet on us they’d give us a place to stay and all the food we could eat. They have grand feasts and not even half would be eaten. So it would be given to us.” He looks up, “I saw you, a couple times. He would always come and get you when you were young.”
I glare at him, “If you say anything-”
“That’s why I told you,” He says, looking up, “No one knows. If I tell, you tell. Insurance, such is the Tribian way.”
I sigh, looking up at Yixing. The strong Phoenix special ops captain, so strong and deadly, looks as if his heart has been ripped out. Like, for a moment, he’s an empty shell of a person who barely exists. Such is the way of Tribil. Ripping people apart and leaving them to wither away.
Yixing pats me on the shoulder, looking up, “If he is at dinner, it’s you and me. We stick by one another to avoid him. Tribil’s ways are not well received. They’re not spoken about. He won’t say anything unless he gets one of us alone.”
I nod, putting my hand on his shoulder too.
As he left, I couldn’t help but feel gross. I move to the bathroom, filling the tub. I wanted to just melt away, forget about everything for a moment. I pour in some of the bubble bath. I undress, getting in and trying to let my mind rest from the bomb that was dropped on me. When I tried out for the Syndicate, I had to prove I could be useful. I was terrified I would fail and be left to rot on a desert city forever. Forgotten. Thankfully they saw the potential and the drive I had. I was petrified of failing. I couldn’t fail.
The Syndicate saved me from a life of screwing people for money and, when that ended, starving to death. When people say that the food is awful somewhere, I can’t help but think about how it’s better than the constant pain from hunger. After a while of soaking, a few hours if my prune like fingers and toes were any indication, I got out and dressed. A message on my phone told me that the ‘dress code was casual’ according to Sehun.
I put on my clothes, wearing my jeans and a sleeveless top. Put my hair up, looking at my reflection. I forgo the make up, no matter how minimal I wear it, I don’t want to draw attention to myself. I mentally try to prepare myself for what was about to come.
I was working on autopilot, practically. Everyone was around but I was just following them. I was looking, on guard, searching.
And then I saw him.
He’s in his late forties, looking more casual than he ever did before. I was use to seeing him in his fully regal attire. His flack hair was greying. His face still clean shaved. His skin still the same pale almost white. The Jurist blood in his veins making his eyes black with a blue iris. He looks over, in a fancy suit that would have on the legs and arms had flowers and vines growing and blooming. He looked over everyone and I could see his eyes widen slightly when he recognizes Yixing to my right. I feel Yixing’s hand on my arm, holding steady. His eyes move, looking and spotting me.
The small smile that grew made me want to punch him. I wanted to make him hurt physically the same way he made me feel emotionally. I wanted to take that glass and smash it across his face. He look over, speaking with Minseok as I was blinded by my rage. He looked down the line, before, like it was clear and there was no other sounds. He looks at me, smiling, showing off his perfect fucking teeth and his perfect smile.
“Who are you, my dear,” He asks, though I could see it. The devious look in his eyes as he patiently waits for me to act on what he wants.
“Lyra Lang,” Yixing says beside me, his voice curt and to the point.
“It’s nice to meet you,” He says.
We were ushered into the next room, and, as I passed by, there were two tiny words he muttered that made me feel uneasy and on edge all over again.
“Hello again, Little Lyra,” He mutters, the smirk on his face grew, his eyes kept on me as I walked to my seat.
I was furious. My blood might as well be boiling as I say down and looked, trying to avoid his gaze. I look around, finally taking the time to see the room we’re in. The walls covered in screens, projecting lush wildlife like the jungles in the valley. I was trying to calm myself as small talk was made.
I just glare at him now.
The dinner went by in a breeze. He’d make comments towards Yixing and myself, and we’d answer curtly. Surely all of our compatriots were noticing how we were acting.
The food was probably delicious, but I wasn’t paying attention. I would look around, noticing Yixing glaring. Sehun was looking at the both of us with a questioning look, and Jongin was curious, whispering to Yixing as he sat next to him. Everyone was catching onto the fact that Yixing and I were not comfortable at all here.
President Yssa smiles, “And now dessert!”
“I’m actually full,” I say, not thinking I can stomach it. I already said something to Yixing, and he was fine with my leaving early. He’d stick by someone he trusts so he won’t be cornered alone. I stand, bowing, “Thank you for the meal and your hospitality. I’m actually really tired, so I think I’m going to go to bed early.”
I turned, leaving the room before anyone could say something.
Truthfully, I was walking in the garden here instead. A huge glass house full of flowers from all over the galaxy. I see a Tribil black rose, the only thing that can withstand our desert conditions. I took a deep breath, letting out a shaky sigh.
“Little Lyra,” A voice says right behind me, hands on my hips. I turn, about to shove him away from me before he just mutters one word.
“Stop.”
My body freezes all on it’s own. I fought it, trying to move. He just smiles, shaking his head.
“You've become bitter, my little Lyra,” He says, “Calm down. Lower your arm.”
I do as he says, my eyes filling with tears of rage.
“I was so shocked to see you,” He says, smiling, “My beautiful little flower has flourished.” he smiles, placing his hand on my face, caressing my cheek. “I was so disappointed when you left for the Syndicate.”
“Get away from me,” I say, glaring at him.
He smiles, “Show me your wrists.”
I show them to him, even as I fight against it. The powerless feeling making me more and more scared. Before, I did it because I was starving. I was desperate. It didn’t matter what he wanted from me as long as I could eat.
He takes a small little thing from his pocket, shining the light down on my wrist. He smiles, “Just as beautiful. The best invention in Tribil history, wouldn’t you say so?”
“What is that on her wrist,” I hear a voice ask.
I look past Rhys, feeling elated to see Jongin standing there. He was dressed casually, walking up and seeing the symbol on my wrist.
I wanted to scream at him what it was, but for every Tribil who leaves, we’re told never to talk about it. That’s why no one knows what does on in Tribil. The Syndicate knows of whispers, but no actual proof.
Jongin looks me in the eyes, seeing the distress in them. He smiles, looking at Rhys. “I’m sorry, I hope she didn’t bother you. I was coming out here to check on her because I know long flights make her a little uneasy,” He says, moving close to me as Rhys turns off the light and puts it back into his pocket. Jongin places his arm around me, pulling me into a hug. “I was so worried about you, babe. Are you sure you’re ok?”
“J-just feeling a little sick,” I say.
Jongin nods, “I think I better help my girlfriend to her room. Thank you for coming and checking on her, though.”
Rhys nods, using his charm to hide his true feelings just as Jongin was doing. “I might not be king anymore but I still worry.”
Jongin pulls me with him, “Goodnight, your majesty!”
We walk, our shows making noise on the marble flooring. Once we get to the elevator, Jongin looks at me. “What is going on,” He asks, looking alarmed. “You left, and then he left. Yixing told me to go after the both of you because if he did he would have killed him.”
“I can’t tell you,” I say, leaning against the wall.
“Yes, Lyra, you can. Spit it out,” He says, rolling his eyes.
“Jongin, I really can’t! I want to but I can’t,” I says, shaking my head as tears fell from my eyes. “You’ve heard it. The saying. ‘Seekers of the Secret are met with thorns’.”
“What was that mark,” He asks, looking at my wrist. “I’ve never seen it. There’s nothing about a tattoo on your file.”
I want to open my mouth and scream, but I can’t.
Jongin sighs, running a hand through his hair. The glowing of the blue lights in the elevator making him look sadder, in a way. “I just want to help you.”
“I know,” I say, shaking my head. “All I can say is… think along the lines of our biggest export.”
“Quantum,” He says, nodding. “So… it’s a type of tech?”
I remain silent as I see him trying to search for clues. I take the time to look over him, seeing him in jeans and a tight black tee. His hair a little wet, slowly drying through dinner. His purple irises looking at me, trying to uncover the secret I wasn’t telling. I want to tell him everything but I can’t. He nods as the elevator opens.
“My room is the one to the right of yours,” He says, “When you decide you trust me, I’ll be waiting.” Jongin looks sad, his eyes which are normally full of joy now dull.
Watching him go and close the door behind him was excruciating. Knowing he thinks I’m not just saying it to him. This I would scream at everyone if I could.
But I can’t.
I just have to hope he asks around about the clue I gave him.

___________
“what movie should we watch tonight?” peter asked as you entered his room on a very cold, sunday night in mid-december. The rush of the cold air hit your bare shoulders as you scanned his DVD section. You lips curved into a smile when your eyes hit “nightmare before christmas”, one of your favorite movies of all time.
“this one,” you speak, grabbing the DVD, beaming with excitement. If peter were completely honest, it was his least favorite movie, but considering how whipped the boy was, he just gave you a sweet smile before he got up to put the film on.
you both get comfortable on his bed, leaning against the wall, hands laced together loosely. day like these were by far the best; just being with peter, watching movies all night. the only flaw about this night, in particular, was that you were freezing cold. didn’t help that you made the really stupid decision to not wear something that could keep you warm.
peter liked to keep his room at a cold temperature most of the time, which bothered you sometimes, especially now because it’s fucking December and its cold as shit.
you now regret wearing a short sleeve shirt, and not bringing a sweater with you. because now you could see visible goosebumps forming on your arms. you didn’t want to draw attention to peter, so you sat there and quietly shivered to yourself; thinking you’d be able to pull it off.
peter may have been clueless sometimes, but he knew you very well - he knew you were acting a little weird and had to know why.
“something wrong, pretty girl?” he asked softly. you tried not to beam too much at pretty girl and decided to shrug it off because you didn’t want to be a bother.
“i-i’m fine.” you respond quietly, literally shaking from being so damn cold. seriously, peter, you’re a dork. it’s fucking december why is it 60 degrees in your room.
peter noticed instantly, “you cold?” he questioned, rubbing your bare shoulder, sending more shivers down your spine.
you nod slowly, shying away, “y-yeah, it’s like an iceberg in here peter...”
“ugh, i know i keep my room cold and i’m sorry.” he said chuckled sincerely, rubbing the back of his neck.
“uh i want to be rude or anything, sorry,” you muttered, cheeks going a light shade of pink.
“do you...” peter couldn’t help but form a sweet smile and did an awkward hand gesture, “want one of my sweaters or something???” he asked. the made your heart grow ten times bigger.
you were in the early stages of dating, about two to three weeks give or take, so this was a very big milestone. you shyly nod, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear.
peter gets up from his spot and goes to his closet, opening it, grabbing his blue midtown high sweater.
you LOVED this sweater on him more than anything, this made you feel so giddy inside and very special.
peter wanted you to be nothing more to be comfortable and happy —seeing you in his sweater would just make his heart burst.
“is this okay for you?” he asked walking towards you, holding out the sweater.
you smiled sweetly at the pretty boy, “uh, i, um, love that sweater actually.” your nose scrunched, touching your other arm with your hand awkwardly as you felt embarrassed for sounding so..weird.
peter literally melted inside due to that comment, even though you thought it sounded so weird, “here, don’t want you being cold anymore.” he handed you the sweater and you silently thanked him.
you both just stood there for a second, none of you speaking — even though you two were a couple, you still felt like it would be awkward to change in front of him. It didn’t even sound like such a big deal, but for some reason, you just felt very self-conscious.
“anyways,” you cleared your throat, “i should - i should go change in the bathroom..”
to say that peter parker was an absolute gentleman was a huge understatement. he knew that you needed your privacy and totally respected that. “no! uh, no, it’s okay - change in here. just let me know when i can come back in,” he assured you in a gentle tone, earning a small nod from you. he walks out of his room, shutting the door behind him.
you remove your t-shirt, folding it and putting it next to the backpack you brought with you, and slipped on his hoodie. the scent of peter’s usual cologne, that he started using when you two first met, hit your nose causing you to smile and feel warm inside. the sweatshirt was pretty big on you, due to peter being taller than you, but you felt very secure and a lot warmer in it.
taking a small glance at the mirror you smile and put your hair up in a messy bun then roll up the sleeves a little since they originally went past your hands.
you sigh at your appearance, and walk over to the door to give the cute, freckled boy an okay for him to walk in. not sure what to do, you knock on the door.
you smile as you could hear peter chuckle softly to himself. “dork, what’s up? you good?” he asked.
“mhmm, all good, pete.” you answer, biting the inside of your cheeks.
peter’s heart was instantly filled with happiness the second he walked in and laid his eyes on you, as you awkwardly stood in front of him.
you, his dorky and sweet girlfriend, were wearing his sweater. he felt nothing more but warm, ethereal, and fuzzy inside, he thought you looked absolutely adorable. hmm, pretty. he thought.
“what?” you asked, slightly laughing, fiddling with your hands.
peter rubbed the back of his neck and shook his head, walking over to you. he felt quite dumb that he had even staring at you this whole time, but of course, you never minded when he did. and he did this a lot., “i-uh..you look pretty - uh, yeah really..pretty.”
you felt your cheeks and the tip of your ears get insanely hot at the two words, quickly growing very shy. peter wasn’t always the shy one here. you had many moments where he’d compliment you or do something sweet that would make you completely and utterly bashful. the brown-eyed boy noticed your very pink face and was now grinning like crazy.
“aww,“ he giggles softly, “what is it?” he teasingly inquired. peter knew you were shy; he always knew.
“you’re making me all...flustered! stop!” you say in a whiney tone, covering your face in your hands. oh, how he adored you.
peter felt a wave of confidence as he reached over and held your free hand, that wasn’t covering your blush. “come onnn, y/n. what? i cant compliment you? the cutest girl in the whole world?” you bit your lower lip as you lifted your head up, leg slightly shaking due to the butterflies forming in your stomach. peter smiled back at you, hesitant about walking closer; but he did it anyway. his hand reached over to you and adjusted the sleeves of the sweater, for they were too long - but you looked cute.
“it’s nothing new!” you protested, poking his cheek.
peter laughed lightly, oh how cute he was when he laughed, “uh, you’re quite right - you do you cute like all the time.” giving up, you sigh as you bury your face in his shoulder.
“i cant believe how you’re making me feel right now. dork.” you mumbled in his t-shirt.
“ditto, ya goofball. and please wear my clothes more often. you look, like, ten times better than i do anyway.” he says, kissing your forehead.
“uh, i think i may have to raid your closet someday; this sweater is so comfy.” you replied.
“sure thing, dork.”

May I please request a college or uni senior Hyuk scenario? Thank youuu
A/N: I have three other hyuk scenarios other than this oh god im channeling all of my inner hyuk. i had to watch ridiculous hyuk videos on youtube just to get his character right. But so worth it.
uni senior hyuk would be the kind of guy that everyone knew of but nobody really knows him. do you know what i mean? he’s way more approachable than the 4th year senior hyungs like leo, n and ken but definitely not as self revealing as anyone would like
i imagine hyuk as a physics major, something related to science or architecture most definitely. he’s definitely got the brains for it. He also seems like the kind of student who makes it to the dean’s list or becomes the class representative or the vice president of a club. and even if he isn’t constantly in leader positions, he is very respectful and kind to his professors, which makes them all the more inclined to give him assistant positions and that’s how you first met him.
hyuk had walked into your class as a sophomore and you were immersed in the new book you were reading. he had casually passed on some announcement about assignments from the professor and walked out of class just as quickly, except he ran back into the class and straight to you, to mention that the professor had asked you to meet them. much like hyuk, the profs were kind enough to take you up for research and assistant positions when in need
you didn’t realise what was happening but this very bright senior with his black hair falling into his eyes was asking you if you understood what you had just said. honestly? you didn’t hear a word. the protagonist of the novel in front of you was too interesting to focus on the real world but you were sure whatever hyuk was saying was important. but just as you had gotten up the courage (and mind) to ask him to repeat himself, he was already out of the class. but ofcourse the girls around you had to make a big deal out of it. they mused about everything from his hair to his clothes o his hotness to how cool he was. all you could remember was that he strangely smelled like petrichor. and you loved it
you forget to actually ask him again and let the matter go until a week later when the professor meets you directly and asks you why you haven’t been showing up at the meetings?
wait what???
meetings???
and thats when the prof mentions that you were invited to a fairly exclusive club about research and were invited to the dean’s dinner! (im literally just making it up as we go im so sorry)
you finally make it to the club meeting only to realise that you’ve missed a series of them and hyuk’s the one leading it. just as you enter, he rushes you to just sit down and catch up and goes on and on about whatever they were discussing earlier. to be fair, you were utterly lost.
so you wait until everyone’s left, literally shaking in your chair from the nerves and slowly get up to talk to hyuk. hyuk looks goddamn amazing, you have to agree. he always wore comfortable tshirts or oversized hoodies or sweaters to college and that just made him all the more handsome. he had a very effortless beauty to himself that you couldn’t help but admire. if you weren’t so stressed with uni work and the idea of having missed out so many meetings because you FORGOT TO ASK HIM AGAIN, you would have actually admired the way his long fingers effortlessly arranged the papers on the desk into a neat pile. or the way one corner of his sweater was always lodged into the belt of his pants. or his nervous habit of biting his lips when he was distracted with work
but instead, you walk up behind him and begin slowly, “umm excuse me…” and hyuk literally WHIRLS around. hyuk has the grace of a tycoon tbh and he nearly knocks you out but thankfully, he grips your shoulders to balance you and you’re a bit shocked because you just went from nervous wreck to in startling close space with the cute uni senior dear lORD HELP YOU
“right haha sorry about that. how can i help you???/”
“sO… im extremely sorry but i have missed quite a few of these meetings -”
“yeah i noticed”
“-and its entirely my fault idk what ive been thinking -”
“no no its ok”
“–but im just super sorry and id love to help but everything you say goes over my head and i know i should get it god im sorry but -”
and by now hyuk’s heard you apologize for a complete set of 10 times since you entered the room and he is trying real hard to stifle a laugh but you make it so hard because you’re so cute and your hands are curling into a grasp and he desperately wants to straighten them out like the pile of neat papers on the desk behind him so he kinda does (this boi i mean)
he reaches out for your hands and holds them in his and stares at them almost wistfully as he says “you’ve got to stop this bad habit of starting with an apology” and when he looks up he nearly wants to kiss the living daylights out of you because the sun outside is setting and you’re in one of the oldest rooms of your uni and with the winter cold, you seem like the warmest most delicious thing in the room
so he puts all his effort into putting his hands into his pockets and offers to help you catch up with the meetings personally
what follows is a series of cafe dates where you both catch up on all the plans for the upcoming exhibition (think of it like a summit of sorts) and you realize he relies a lot on you for decisions and occasionally stops to hear what you think about his ideas so far
the dates begin as a very formal thing with both of you dressing very well and maintaining a respectful distance and only ever opting for the occasional coffee. but after the 4th or 5th meet you decide to try different coffees and your clothes become more relaxed with you turning up in your favorite sweater dress and your hair in a messy bun and your smile light and easy.
from there, you hit it off so well. though you’re all caught up he stlil offers to show you this one restaurant he really loves and “you’ve GOT to try the food you will CRY BECAUSE ITS SO GOOD” and you’re always up for a good challenge so you meet up for dinner after all your classes in your hoodies and stuff yourselves with food and drinks and chat late into the night.
by now both of you are very sure you’re attracted to each other because fuck how can you try and ignore him when he looks so good and he was definitely sure he lost all self control when you turned up so messy and bright in that sweater dress.
but its the dean’s dinner that does you in he shows up in the crisp white shirt, dress pants and a vest and you nearly lose it with his hair swept up like that and you’re in a cocktail dress and he can think of a 100 things to do with you and none of them should be spoken about in respectful company
and when the night draws on the old croak is making some stupid comments about his accomplishments in life that both of you could care less about, he whispers lazily “i cant wait to get out of these clothes” and you absent-mindedly reply “you look way better in comfortable clothing anyway” and he cheekily says “i half expected you to offer some help removing the clothes” and he doesn’t expect your answer but then
“i could. do you wanna leave and let me try?”
and thats how you end up in his apartment after sneaking out of the dinner with both your clothes lying on the floor and he’s kissing you like his life depends on it and maybe it kinda does because he literally ditched the dean for you wow
but after a solid make out session (and other things *ahem*) the rain is pouring cats and dogs outside and you get into one of hyuk’s huge shirts and he’s wearing just his track pants and the both of you are just sitting by the window, nursing a hot mug of coffee and listening to old songs and occasionally hyuk leans in to smell your neck and kisses the base of your throat and you realise
you’re uni life just got a whole of a lot better
YOU ARE WELCOME.
