Diego is so the type to say random things in the dead of night. Like for no reason he will just say random shower thoughts or dumb things without warning while meant to be asleep like imagine it's 5am
"You think we ever met in another universe?"
"Love, Go to sleep."
"Lila would you still love me if I was a worm🥺"
"Im going to smother you GO TO SLEEP."

I got some characters for your headcanon station! :D
• Bradley. Do it. I'm hyper with the skunk >:)
• Vin Moosk! He's cool!! X3
• Numbuhs 86 and 362! Our beloved moongirls <3
• Julie (the girl from op. P.O.I.N.T.)! Cute and underrated character!!
• and our supreme girlboss... NUMBUH 23 🖤❤️
(Sorry if I sent so many asks! XD)
Hope you have an awesome day! 💕
Not too many at all! I love the variety. Since there’s so many, I’ll probably only 1-2 headcanons for each.
Bradley’s favorite room in the treehouse to sleep in is Wally’s. You know how animals always seem to know which person in the room likes them the least and then consciously choose to bother that person the most? That’s Bradley lmao. He also has a wide collection of sweaters that Kuki likes to dress him up in, but after his robo-surgery it’s a lot harder to put them on.
Okay to be completely transparent I totally forgot Vin Moosk existed and had to google him. Fake fan guys, sorry. Anyways, after Moosk breaks free of his accounting job (again), he begins his new career as a menswear bounty hunter! Since the queen tie has been defeated, he’s broadened his horizons and dedicated himself to stopping all sorts of stiff, expensive clothing. Windsor is currently trying to locate him, to no avail.
Numbuhs 86 and 362 spend most of their lunch breaks together. Rachel is often too busy to leave her office so Fanny brings her lunch to her, and they sit and talk about all the crazy confidential data they’re privy too and also how much Fanny hates stupid boys. Sometimes Rachel nods off during the conversation, but Fanny is usually too caught up in her own ranting to even notice.
Julie is one of Cree’s friends, as they’re both on McClintock High’s volleyball team. She isn’t a teen ninja, however. She’s too nice for that. Her and Marty end up breaking up a few months after their attempted date at The Point, but in typical teenage fashion get back together when they realize they can’t live without each other (they break up again next month).
I loveeee Virginia. She was 100% the girl that tried to make you eat earth worms in kindergarten. She really likes old school fighting games like Street Fighter and Tekken. Her and Bartie once connected her game console to one of the main monitors of the Moonbase Observation Bridge and were officially banned from Moonbase for a week for it. It was totally worth it.

So now that you’ve had a good few chapters of playing Hopes any thoughts on the characters’ portrayals in Hopes so far compared to how you thought of them in 3H? For me I definitely have some Takes™️ on the way certain characters ended up being handled in Hopes vs 3H. For the sake of spoilers the only take I will mention at the moment is that Hopes!Caspar SUCKS.
Like they took everything I hated about CF!Caspar and then dialed that up to a hundred. I hate how much of a violent warmonger he is. I hate how much of a moron they make him! Like he has his dense moments in 3H but in Hopes it’s like he’s an actual dumbass (derogatory) with that whole “chapper” excuse of a joke or him somehow not understanding why the people his side are invading would not hold back against his side when they get the chance to strike back. Like what happened to the non-CF Caspar who would understand when other characters expressed negative feelings towards Adrestia because he was aware of the Empire’s past interactions with other countries? The Caspar who would even feel guilt and responsibility for such pain even though he personally didn’t take part in those conflicts, just because he’s his father’s son? The Caspar who had an extremely complex talk with Catherine about ideals in battle and trying to do the right thing?
Sorry for the rant when I just wanted to get your opinion, it’s just that Caspar’s characterization in Hopes is one of the ones I feel strongest about because of how mad I got with it. Turning the goofy and dense but surprisingly compelling and endearing Caspar into THAT was something.
Whoever you are OP, you are completely right about Hopes!Caspar.
Caspar was never a character I paid much attention too or felt strongly about, but I'm offended by his portrayal in Hopes. I can't imagine how upset people who followed him more feel.
I'm a bit lacking on my Caspar lore, so bear with me, but in Hopes his character revolves almost entirely around pleasing his father and smashing things. Other than that, there's nothing to him. Even someone who doesn't remember a whole lot of details about Caspar knows that's short-changing him.
Where's his friendship with Linhardt? Where's his fear-mixed-with-respect more complicated relationship he had with his father? Where's the guy who called Edelgard out for using him as a talking point for her own views rather than learning how he felt about anything first? Where's the guy who learned more empathy from Ashe and their discussion about thieves?
To be honest, I don't like CF!Caspar either. It seems only when he's forced to fight against the Empire (his people) that he takes war seriously and realizes that "real people" are dying rather than treating it like a jolly good time and chance to just smash things to death for fun. So maybe this is just further proof that Caspar is insufferable unless he fights against the Empire, because that's the only way for him to identify strongly enough with who's dying for him to grow some perspective. Hopes is made worse though, since he's regressed to just letting his dad decide everything and Shez doesn't call Caspar out like Byleth did in CF.
Alois is another one who was done dirty big time. He's nothing but a Jeralt simp with no mention ever of his kids or wife. It's like they took everything endearing about him and deleted it. It's criminal what they did to him.
Of course, there's also, I'm sure, lots of talk about Claude, but that's a whole other can of worms that I'll hold off on until I finish the game.

What the OP Boys Would do if You Have a Bad Day
Part 1 for now
Part 2 in the foretold future (aka when I get the time to use my laptop-)
Monkey D. Luffy
Tumblr media
Boy struggles with his self-hatred on important dates in time. Remembering past friends and family who passed is one of his biggest self-hatred motivators. So he does understand when there are times when you are down too! However, he also knows his way to cope might not be the same as how you cope, but it doesn’t mean he can’t try!
Will start by sniffing out the area thinking your feelings are coming from some unknown danger to him. If nothing on the outside around you seems off he concludes it’s something on the inside! After this he will began to come up with his own reasons why you are in a sad/sour mood: stomach ache, motion sickness, boredom, things that usually would resonate with him. If it’s none of those he will just point blank ask you at this point.
“Want some meat? You can wear my hat if you want. I can do an impression on whoever you want!”
Literally just naming out things he knows cheers people up and if none of them work he is stomped! Baby literally cannot process how to help you, will mostly just bug the hell out of you the entire time until you tell him how to help you-
So just tell him.
Roronoa Zoro
Tumblr media
He can be observant when he wants to be (a man only motivated by alcohol and swords-), unfortunately he sucks at people skills-
He knows you’re upset/angry/sad, he just doesn’t know how to fix it. Would offer if you want to spar with him since that’s how he copes, if you are weaker however or don’t prefer fighting he would ask if you want to watch him. Would not offer you alcohol (both due to not wanting to lose his precious and not getting you used to coping this way-).
If he sees you cry the dude will lose it a mixture between “Who hurt you?!” and “Stop it!” Truly hates it when you cry because he feels he is failing at his job to protect you (even if you never told him to-). If you want him to do something for you, use this time wisely cause he will do whatever he has to in order to get you to stop crying.
Not the best at giving comfort, but will lend you an ear to listen to you rant. Would also give you advice to cut whoever hurt you. If you are having more self-hatred he would understand and embarrassingly admit his favorite parts about you in order to help you see how people care about you.
Vinsmoke Sanji
Tumblr media
Would spoil you (more than usual) to make your day better! Compliments, gifts, food the whole galore! He can sense the moment you wake up that you were off mentally (Vinsmoke senses? Who knows-), will bust through the door and begging you to tell him how to fix it. Honestly you might not even realize you’re in a foul mood until he tells you-
Tells everyone not to mess with/tease you constantly- “They’re having a down day, so Luffy stop talking.”
Will make your favorites and force everyone to eat it/say how good it is- Will also tell you every reason why he loves you (even if they make no sense) and gets you flowers, chocolates, hugs just everything.
The man is like the king when it comes to comfort due to the fact he will legit do whatever you ask of him. “Tell me I’m pretty.” Done. “Am I a good person?” The best in the world. “What if I turn into a worm?” You can have a worm themed wedding-
Just a good puppy trying to please his master-
Trafalgar D. Water Law
Tumblr media
The best (worst-) at handling you when you are having a bad day. Will totally doctor nag you the entire time.
“Did you drink water? No? That’s why you’re depressed.”
“Did you get enough sleep? You didn’t? That’s why you’re agitated-”
Will not feel sorry for you if it’s due to your own health neglect; however do not be surprised if after he lectures you, you find some onigiri left out for you or just a randomly placed hoodie you can take a nap with.
If it’s something more mental (as in someone hurt your feelings or you hurt your own feelings) he will just listen to you rant while wearing his usual grumpy facial features. In the inside he’s annoyed at who hurt you (even if you did it yourself-) and is contemplating on how to handle the situation. He won’t try to cheer you up and will give you some sound advice in the end, he won’t force you to take it either, you have to make your own decisions on that.
Is a sucker for tears though; oh boy it’s downhill now. Just in complete shock and can’t talk. Unlike Zoro though, he won’t do anything to make you stop crying. Will just throw a hoodie/Bepo at you and leave- baby can’t handle that-
Eustass “Captain” Kid
Tumblr media
Comfort? Him? Okay maybe just a little-
A tsundere where it matters, but deep down cares about you, he just sucks at showing it (and without insulting you first-). Will mock you for letting things get to you, and let’s all be fair here; was probably the cause of your bad day.
Boy just loves to fight, gives him a rush to see you all pissed at him over something stupid he did or said. However, he will shut up completely once he sees even a shine of wetness in your eyes. All that adrenaline is out the window and guilt has overtaken his system.
IF by some chance it wasn’t him who hurt you and it was someone else; please expect to see them get their ass beat. He doesn’t give a shit who the person is either, if they made you cry, they lost all respect from him (which wasn’t much so-). Might have you watch him beat them too, or if it’s too much/you are in a state where you can’t handle it, will bring you a bodily souvenir.
 Is the type to suggest you take out your anger in some violent way whether it’s breaking vases or faces, he doesn’t care. “Get the bat babe, we’re going out.”
Killer
Tumblr media
He’s the Teddy Bear troupe kind of guy, fight me on it-
Is worried about you the moment you show any low level cues you are having a rough time. Will suggest things you have mentioned in the past that have helped you relax. If you can’t do any of those things or is too down to do anything he will suggest things he knows help him (usually cuddles-).
Will let you play with his hair while you rant about your feelings and how they came to be in that place. Isn’t as bad as Kid, but does imagine what it would be like to show you that you don’t have to worry about a person who upset you because they are dead (if you suggest it though, I mean he ain’t gonna say no).
Babe just wants you to know how much he loves you and needs you in his life; you helped and accepted so much of him he can’t even imagine what it would be like to lose you. So if you are having any negative thoughts, please be honest and tell him, cause he will make them go away in no time.
Also please tell him if Kid says anything mean to you because he has no problem kicking his captain-
Portgas D. Ace
Tumblr media
A sweet pup who just loves to love you. Has no problems if you are having a bad day and honestly same boo, it be like that sometimes. I feel he is the most normal (well close to it anyway) on handling your bad day. Will suggest a few ideas and let you decide. If none sound good, then he wants you to think of something.
Will make jokes with you and try fun things to distract your mind. The type who doesn’t like to sit in the past and would rather see the future. So makes plans with you on random things to help clear any stress out of you.
If you are crying would throw his hat on you without saying anything and find the asshole who hurt you to talk to them. If it was something you personally feel will wait to you’re done crying and have the talk with you (Dateline meme “Take a seat”-).
By the end of the day, you honestly forgot you were even upset and that’s his main goal. He wants you to remember all the fun and great things in the world, rather than think about the negative parts we can’t control.

My High School self managed to avoid getting into romantic abusive relationships because I convinced myself that healthy ones are practically impossible especially for me
Ha ha, trauma
Anyways
I did however get into an abusive friendship. I had a friend who was very manipulative by nature and had severe abandonment issues and I put it on myself to help them heal from their trauma.
Our friendship was extremely co dependent with me depending on him for reassurance and validation and him depending on me for a safety net when all the unhealthy friendships he had crash and burned. I never blamed him, still don't. We both had our issues, and both cared a lot about each other. It's just that we were both people pleasing perfectionist in different ways and it effected my health a lot to be in that friendship.
He was also Autistic and ended up in both abusive relationships and abusive friendships. I hope he has healthier friends now but for the sake of my own health I can't be one of them.
People often don't talk about how friends can be abusive. For Autistic people it can be very easy to fall into the habit of assuming you're unloveable so you just allow everyone to push you around because at least if they're using you you're wanted. There's a lot of conversation about abuse within family and romantic relationships, but not a lot of talk about abusive friendships. Maybe because society sees friendship as an easier thing to escape, but for neurodivergent people or queer people it isn't because there's more of a need to stick together.
Also avoiding a romantic relationship for fear of being abused also tends to lead to unhealthy relationships because you become more co-dependent on friends and family who will more likely prioritize their own romantic partners but that's another can of worms.
Anywho sorry for the rant OP just felt like putting this out there.

Could we please hear some director's commentary about The Blade Called Trust, We Are The Music Makers, and Baby/Bastard AU?
Putting under a cut because long :D
BCT:
This fic 100% exists because of IDW2, because I was reading a scene between Megatron and Orion where Orion is like 'but I know you' and Megatron is like 'do you?' or some dramatic stuff like that (I haven't kept up with that series since like issue 19 lol :'D) and I was like "hmm, wonder what other dramatic conversations they could have like that but in IDW1" and then it became a massive brain worm and boom, BCT was born.
WATMM:
The title of this fic exists because when I was a kid, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory aired on cable TV all the time, and me and my brother and my dad would watch that move together all the time. There's this one scene where Willy Wonka says "We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of dreams" and all of us loved that part so much.
So lo and behold about 15 years later I looked it up and saw it was part of a really cool poem (Ode by Arthur O'Shaughnessy), and a couple years later by magical chance I got into TF IDW, started stanning the hell out of IDW MegOP, and one night in the Discord chat I was like "hey, I thought of this really angsty AU idea, wanna hear?" And then I made like 8 people cry that night. And then I decided to make that idea into a fic, and I needed a title for it, and well... if you ever read the full poem yourself, I think you'll understand why.
Baby/Bastard AU:
I don't know if I can give director's commentary on this one unfortunately. :( Like I literally can't remember how or when I came up with this idea at all, maybe it's somewhere in the depths of me and Quetzalpapalotl's DM's but I have no idea how I would go finding that lol. All I can tell you for sure is that I think it was born out of my constant, obsessive need for more IDW MegOP and especially interaction between their pre-war selves.
To be honest, the other main reason for this AU was because I just had a random plot bunny/scene idea of Orion Pax being in the mines with Megatron because they were both punished for speaking out against the Senate together, and I liked the idea of a scene where OP the idealist comforts Megatron and for a moment the reality of the system they're fighting against fades into the background in favor of comfort and hope.
And also like, a desire for ACTUAL IDW MegOP and being tired of fics where Megatron has like, a canon background with detailed character motivations and Optimus is just kind of a nice guy that was just handed the Primacy one day with no real political involvement or adventures to speak of beforehand and the extent of his personal views is Agreeing With Megatron and his most prominent personality trait is being Nice and he would Never Do Anything Questionable. It would be really nice to see more fics in this fandom where Optimus is an actual character and people actually care about what happened in canon but clearly no one except me and like 4 of my friends cares about him so I have to do everything myself as usual. But that's just what motivates me to write IDW Optimus in general so ooooooops sorry for ranting.
~~~
Sorry for the late reply, I was saving this for a time I needed a way to procrastinate on writing had the energy to give a somewhat interesting answer.
Season 5 Analysis
STANDARD DISCLAIMER: I am going to be applying the concept of criticism to a TV show you presumably love and adore as much as I do. If you do not want your idea that the show is immaculate to be challenged, I would not advise reading past this point.
Additional Disclaimer: This includes criticism of Nya’s arc, so if you’re the type of person to get catty about this subject, turn back now.
Tumblr media
Mood for this season: It’s spoopy time.
You don’t need to, but if you are interested, and haven’t seen my analysis of past seasons, you can find those here:
Pilot - Season 1 - Season 2 - Season 3 - Season 4
You can also find all of these, and future installments, on my blog using the tag #analysis
Hey everyone! I’m still doing these things! Let’s see, when was my last one? Over two years ago...? Yikes, I owe y’all an apology. I really didn’t mean to put these off that long. Anyway, get ready to hate me, cuz although (for the most part) this seems to be the fandom favorite season… I think it’s overhyped. I know, don’t kill me. I’ll explain myself. I don’t think it’s bad or anything, it’s very well structured, but I definitely wouldn’t rank it among my favorites. First, for a little context, I am making a one second of every ninjago episode video right now, so I’ve been binging the series and all it’s shorts back to back, so I think I’ll have a bit more to say about connective tissue between seasons, and hopefully you guys can look forward to more of these analyses between now and the new year when I’m releasing that video. I’m also officially a film major now so… sorry if I come of as extra pretentious or get too deep. Anyway, let’s jump into the thick of it, shall we?
Plot
This is probably the area I have the fewest number of complaints about. This season has a breakneck pace and it keeps everyone busy. I think that’s why people like it. Everyone’s favorite has something to do. Which brings me to the question… which ninja’s season is this? Lloyd is on a lot of the promotional stuff, but he’s possessed and out of the picture for over half the season, so that can’t be right. Cole turns into a ghost, and the season is a ghost season, but that can’t be right cuz I don’t know that I’ve ever heard anyone claim it was his. Nya reaches her true potential, maybe it’s hers? Well, she does have a large b-plot, but she is consistently not a part of the a-plot. Kai has a whole thing with being protective of Lloyd, he has his fear of water, maybe it’s just another Kai season? Thing is, it’s no one’s. It is an ensemble season, and I think that’s a healthy thing for ninjago to keep doing. The more we label certain seasons for certain ninja, the more complaining we’ll get about who’s turn it is for screen time that we’ll miss out on telling a good story. Also, If the season is focused on a ninja you don’t like, you are less likely to like the season (see my next analysis for that can of worms). Again, this season tells it’s story really well. Morro directly ties into the ending of last season, and Nya’s getting water powers was foreshadowed the season before. That’s some cool connective tissue to start. The opening episode establishes the three different things the ninja will be looking for, and for once they’re actual tools instead of a series of weapons, blades, masks, whatever. I like that. Jay has some really good humor, Zane has his speech changes, Kai has his irrational fears and protective instincts, Cole has his ghost angst, Lloyd has to deal with his father’s passing, Nya is a new water ninja, Wu has a shop to run and a student to reconnect with, even Ronin has an arc about developing morals and gaining friends. There’s the mystery about how to deal with the ghosts, what the rules are, there’s the leader subplot, the ninja’s money situation, and lore of the different realms, they even worked in Skylor and Borg, there’s a lot of cool stuff going on. This is a tightly woven script that manages to include a lot of new concepts that you get pretty quick. I don’t feel like there’s even that much fat to cut. The opening is a little slow and strange, and the cloud kingdom episode feels a little unnecessary, but I do like the idea of visiting a different realm early in the season so the audience isn’t caught off guard in the climax. Again, the plot all works for me, it’s the other stuff I find myself pretty meh on.
Characters
Ronin
I’m pretty sure Ronin is the only new (non villain) character introduced. I like him a lot. Ninjago needed a true wildcard to shake things up and be unpredictable. I also think he’s pretty nicely woven into the action of the plot. I think his introduction is a bit strange. Like, the ninja already know him, but we’ve never seen him before? Just the way they talk about him sounds like they’re quickly recapping who this guy is for those who missed previous episodes. It’s fine if the ninja already know him but either 1) Introduce or foreshadow him a season earlier or 2) Introduce their dynamic to the audience before it becomes plot relevant. Maybe the ninja are grumbling about him being a nuisance while tea shenanigans are going on or something. Or maybe you have a scene of him stealing the scroll and making snarky remarks about the ninja while he does it. Idk. just something so his sudden plot relevance isn’t out of nowhere. Also, I don’t hate his and Nya’s dynamic, but I know a lot of people love it, and I’m just not totally here for it. Is he supposed to be a father figure for her? Mentor? Frienemy? Just plain friend? (love interest???) it’s not super clear and I could have used some clarification. I also like his use and tie to the next season, so overall, well integrated character.
Nya
I’m adding in Nya here cuz she goes through a major character change, and how she’s handled is one of the things that rubs me the wrong way about the season. A lot of people will probably disagree and/or hate me for this section of the analysis so… here we go! The thing she has to get past to reach her true potential is fear of failure (supposedly) and the solution to that is to just… not care as much? First of all, I know this isn’t supper important, but the fun thing about the ninjago elements is that every elemental master matched up personality wise with their element. Jay is the energetic master of lightning, Kai is the hothead master of fire, Zane is the calm and calculating master of ice, Cole is the strong and dependable master of earth, Lloyd is the literal child master of energy. This especially goes for all the new season 4 masters. So what qualities are often associated with water personalities? Well, serenity, control, flexibility, elegance, patience… calm. You know, like a Zane type character (the element directly adjacent to hers). These are things that Nya isn’t - or at the very least don’t define her. (there’s also something to be said about water and its ties to more feminine qualities, which Nya has been actively shown to reject, but I won’t go into that rant here.) She was designed as the fire master’s sister, and when you try to fit a fire personality into a water shaped character mold… it doesn’t exactly mesh well. It doesn’t make sense. But, like I said, whatever. Maybe that’s the point? Like she has to change her personality to be more in tune with water? Sure. But let’s talk about this fear of failure thing. Because that’s the stated thing that dialogue tells us she needs to overcome. But when has Nya ever been afraid of failure? Fear of failure means avoiding doing something because of fear. Nya is ridiculously persistent, always has been (you know, fire personality). She tries training when no one tells her to, she makes her own alter ego to try and be a hero and save the people who would constantly tell her she wasn’t ready. Wu says she only wants things that come easy, but that’s never been her character before now, she has carried the team with her tech, research, and covert ops that no one forced her to do, all things which are not easy. Fear of failure is usually characterized by what if questions. If Nya is so afraid of failure, why don’t we hear her saying stuff like “but what if I’m not strong enough, what if I can’t save them in time, or worse, what if I lose control of my power and end up hurting people?” Cole shows much more of a fear of failure this season surrounding his insecurity about being a ghost. He wants to sit out from missions because he’s not sure he’ll be able to do it - he’s afraid of failure. But whatever, the writing isn’t clear at expressing her true setbacks, but she does display a real problem that a lot of people have and I think could have been well done if set up correctly. She shows an undying persistence that gets her too close, and makes her increasingly incapable. She lets her frustration hinder her progress (again, fire personality trait), and I think that’s interesting because I don’t think ninjago has done this character arc yet. The supposed solution to this problem is that she just needs to… care less? And yes, I kind of see where they were going with this, we sometimes cloud our natural potential by thinking about it too much, but saying “you need to stop caring” is the absolute wrong way to word it. Caring is not her problem, the problem is her control over the emotions that come from her caring. Caring is a good thing, and teaching kids that if you’re ambivalent about your problems, they’ll go away is not a good message. What she needs to do is take a step back. She needs to take a break, stop to think, and look at the big picture instead of hyper focusing on the roadblock directly in front of her. The usual and much better wording of the moral I think they were going for is “stop overthinking things”. Teaching kids to look at a problem from a different angle and give themselves time to cool down is a great thing. And just think of it, in the climax she could have this ah-ha moment where she steps back and looks at the bigger picture - the whole town, surrounded by the ocean - and gets the idea to sink the preeminent into the water, you could even easily tie that back into the bucket exercise, and that’s what triggers her true potential rather than the current… I’m honestly not sure what. Random flashbacks and the end of the season approaching quickly. Alternatively, you could tie it more directly into samurai x, and make her struggle with letting go of the past and allowing yourself to give up something good in your life to progress to something better. Anyway, I don’t think this was a bad decision long term, she needed to be solidified on the team as a full fledged ninja, I just think this season doesn’t handle the transition that well. Anyway, whatever, I’ll be waiting for your hate comments in the notes.
Romance
Um… there’s none this season? Like there’s a few Wusako moments that are still as weird as they were in season 2, but they’re really not prevalent. There’s also the Jay seeing the future thing which has some weird implications next season (again, some interesting connective tissue between seasons), but that’s about it. Maybe that’s part of why I don’t love this season? Like where’s the pixane? Lol, I’m kidding. But maybe that’s why a lot of people do like it. If you don’t like the canon ships… this is a nice little safe haven for you. Rare for a majority of the series.
Villains
So Morro is a good idea… in theory. I know he’s the fandom’s favorite edgy boy, but idk I think the brand of angsty teen they ended up with was more of an angsty 13 year old than 17 year old. His voice is really grating and I always want to yell at him to just… go get some cough drops. Stop throat screaming, use your diaphragm man! Also, everyone goes on about his last minute redemption, but as far as season 5 goes, he has like half a second of a change of heart. Literally, when Wu comes over and he’s drowning, he’s still being a persistent little idiot like “you never cared about me nooooo!” and it’s only at the last possible second that gives him the crystal, and even that he does it kind of saltily. The preeminent is pretty cool, I like her concept, her design, all that. All the other ghosts are fine I guess. Nothing super memorable out of them, although their aesthetic, especially when there’s a bunch of them swarming around is pretty cool. One last thing was I never understood how Morro “becoming the green ninja” worked and what exactly it was that… did for him? Like he didn’t actually get the power of energy, right? I don’t remember him using it. Did just him defeating Lloyd make him the green ninja? How does that transfer work? And why did he need it to take over the world or realms or whatever? Like I get that it’s supposed to give him more power and what not but idk, it wasn’t super clear. That’s a minor thing though.
Climax
Pretty cool. I like the ATMOSPHERE. Green light is a hard thing to use and justify correctly, but it works really well here, especially with the dark kinda gray blue sky complimenting it. When the preeminent starts walking into the ocean, it’s genuinely terrifying, but you understand exactly how it works and why she’s strong enough to do it. Nya’s true potential is again a little out of left field and could have had some better motivation put behind it. Like what is it Nya learned in that instant? To not be afraid to protect people? She’s… been doing that. Idk. I’ve hit on that enough for now. Overall, there was good variety. I like the green ninja fake out, I like the realm hopping, I even like the little Garmadon visit and Lloyd getting the robe. I feel like we didn’t need a part one and two, you could have had different titles. I mean come on. But hey, now we know, if Pix had only been there, the whole climax would have been wrapped up in like 10 minutes apparently. Pix for the win.
Humor
Really good. Like I’m surprised how much I laughed. Jay wasn’t annoying humor, it was good stuff, there were some good running gags, there’s a solid fourth wall joke about who the lead ninja is at the beginning of the season. Overall, I am pretty impressed. My favorite joke was perhaps the bit where Jay is sarcastically positive, the voice acting is just really solid. Then again, there’s also the whole Borg scene where he roasts half the ninja, that’s solid stuff right there. There’s just some really solid character interaction this season and the humor feels a lot more natural and less forced.
Drama
Okay, we’ve got a lot this season. Y’all know how I feel about Nya’s arc by now. It does not work for me. Ronin’s relationship with her is alright, but kind of comes out of nowhere. Ronin’s solo plot about kinda working for the ghosts works. Cole’s ghost angst works for the most part, although I wish he would have actually skipped a mission and then gone in to help save his friends once they can’t do it without him. That was probably the most solid drama of the season. The other main thing we have this season is Kai’s whole… fear/protective streak. This also doesn’t really work for me. Like, I get that Lloyd and Kai are friends and stuff, like his whole true potential was centered around Lloyd. But like, why does it have to be framed so weirdly? Sometimes in trying to make it seem like Kai is protective of him, it seems like the other ninja just like… don’t care about him? Not all the time, but there are some weird vibes. Also, it doesn’t really go anywhere. No one learns anything about themselves from this subplot, nothing comes of it, there isn’t really a payoff. Also, Kai has yet another irrational fear, this time of water, which really comes right the hell out of nowhere. They try to explain it away like “Oh, Kai feels powerless and so water can get to him” but like… what? That’s the exact situation he was in at the end of season 2 and he seemed perfectly content to literally swim across the ocean (which um… what do you mean the sworn protector of ninjago can’t swim?). Where is this coming from?! Again, it doesn’t really go anywhere, there’s not a point where he has to learn to confront it or he grows because of it. It’s just pointless stuff added cuz the writers like giving Kai vague trails to try and develop him. The cloud kingdom is kinda cool. That last minute twist about them working with Morro is… stupid and unnecessary though.
Spotlight Episode
I really like the Spinjitzu master tomb episode. Some cool riddles, I like the first two rooms a lot. I do think the third room is a bit strange. Like, the clue was “don’t look ahead” and the solution was to look beneath them, which is the exact same solution as the previous room. Like, you already have magic ice that shows the future, why not play into that? Don’t look ahead could maybe mean don’t look to the future, the opposite of that being the past. Maybe they have to draw on their past adventures to solve it somehow? Learning from the past is a good lesson, right? But overall, I really like it. Some real solid humor this episode. This episode has the sarcastic Jay optimism, Kai totally stalling for time, Zane dealing a pretty sick burn on Cole, just a lot of fun stuff. I like it. It just has great energy and nothing feels like it’s drawn out for too long.
Misc
The aesthetic this season… can be inconsistent, but the main ghost vibe displayed in the opening theme is really solid and I really like it
Speaking of the opening, Ghost wip is great and the opening in on par with last season’s (which is my fav) for sure
Ice age references… okay.
Chima references…. OKAY...
Okay, but like Deepstone can… kill ghosts? Or not? Is it just something ghosts can touch? It’s supposed to be like water in weapon form, right? Like that’s how I understood it when they first introduced it. Wouldn’t the deepstone bars kill Ghoultar then? And then like, Cole’s bike is made of deepstone. He uses it as a weapon. Wouldn’t it kill him? It kills other ghosts when they touch it. How… how does it work?! I need answers!!!
The captain of the steam boat says they’re going as fast as possible, but later Ronin comes in and cranks it up like twice as fast… that always bothered me like, why would he lie about that? Who is this captain and why is he so chill about everyone’s lives?! And then later Wu cranks it up yet again, like the ship had slowed down to it’s previous speed. What the hell is happening with the controls of this ship???
So pissed that the nasty CGI nightmare cloud monster that chases the ninja is named Nimbus. Totally forgot about that. I have an OC with a cat named Nimbus… I promise, there is not going to be a stupid twist bout the cat being the monster thing in Mists of Fate. That would be very stupid.
I was all excited that season 13 gave us minecart chases, but I totally forgot season 5 gave us one first. I really like the return to the caves of despair btw, good reuse of a known location.
How many times this season did we do the:
Kai: Oh, I don’t like water, I can’t do it uwu  Cole: ...You serious?
Thanks for reading! And if you got this far… I don’t know. I would love to hear your thoughts if you have any! These are just my opinions, so don’t think too much of it if you disagree.
CRWBY’s Lying...?
With the new merch drop for Qrow and Clover’s pin bundle, there’s no fucking way that RT Marketing would have made this set, manufactored these pins that can only be bought together and made them limited edition on a whim.
While I’m not an expert on marketing or manufactoring, with common sense it’s safe to say that making merchandise takes months possibly even years to put together; to design the product, the packaging, the marketing strategies, advertisement, and so much more behind the scenes that we consumers wouldn’t know (unless someone happens to have similar work experience/knowledge in those areas).
This has been in the making for months, it would have been impossible to pull this out of their asses before the finale dropped and release it a few days later.
So for CRWBY to tell us that Qrow and Clover’s relationship wasn’t meant to be significant AND that they underestimated how popular of a character Clover turned out ONLY for them to drop exclusive merch of the two, they’re either very delusional or lying.
They made the conscious decision to design and put together a complementary character for Qrow. There’s been a lot of posts that already analysed all the design choices that make the two match, so I won’t go too much into detail. But the colours, the opposing semblances, Clover’s red arm band, the personalities and attitude towards each other, it all points to the two having a pretty valuable relationship. Now whether it really was romantic or platonic, it doesn’t matter, what mattered is that they were building up a relationship and a contributing factor was his design.
Tumblr user astraguardian wrote a simple but in-depth analysis of the romantic parallels between Fair Game and other canon pairings, you can read it here.
They had interactions sprinkled all throughout the volume, pointless little moments that ultimately contributed nothing to the main plot and only existed to add shock value to his death. If this was all queer-baiting or not, I’m not going to get into because I’m still pretty confused and conflicted about it myself.
If Clover really wasn’t supposed to be important, then why make Qrow’s grieving so damn emotional? A person wouldn’t cry and scream like Qrow did over Clover if that person wasn’t meaningful to them. Why include that many scenes of just the two?
They could have so easily not added Clover. CRWBY could have kept the Ace Ops to four members which would have removed any and all traitor/death theories for their specific group, and the volume would have progressed and finished without a hitch. If anything, I feel like Clover was in volume 7 just for Qrow and for a dramatic death, because if Clover wasn’t in it, Qrow would have had nothing to contribute and would have taken a backseat for the entire volume (minus his and Ironwood’s interactions). His death was not earned, but that’s a whole new can of worms that I don’t want to get into here.
What i’m trying to say, is that they knew what they were doing.
They knew that Clover having an opposing semblance and befriending Qrow was going to make him popular. Because if they didn’t - if they seriously didn’t warrant for their friendship becoming such a big hit -  then why would they make a pin bundle for a beloved character we’ve known for five volumes with a pin for a character that we’ve known for less than one, that fans might not even like? They wouldn’t and they couldn’t, it would be terrible marketing and way too risky.
It would be like if they tried selling a merch bundle of Ruby with a random-ass background character that only a select few remember even existing. People wouldn’t buy it for them, they’d buy it for Ruby and at that point most people would figure it wasn’t worth it to buy a set of two just for the one pin they wanted.
They could have just sold Qrow’s emblem as a pin on it’s own and it would have done just as well- hell they could have also sold Clover’s emblem on it’s own as well. But they chose to exclusively sell the two together. It’s why Clover’s the first to be in Amity Arena and the rest of the Ace Ops aren’t (with no indication if the rest of them will be added), it’s why they put so much emphasis on him in advertising, and why now they sold out on a pin set of Qrow and Clover. Yes, sold out. All 300 limited edition sets have already been bought, so this worked out for them.
CRWBY knew Clover would be important. They knew he’d be popular. They knew his and Qrow’s relationship would be a significant for a lot of hopeful fans. Fans that were looking forward for Qrow to finally have a friend/partner/team mate who would support him and watch them bond. But we didn’t. Instead we got an arc for Qrow that’s now going backwards. And their new ‘slogan’ for the new luck merch is just such a fucking punch in the guts; “Born Unlucky.” Like- I’m sorry, fuck right off. Way too soon.
I understand that the marketing team for RT and CRWBY are two different teams; but they have to work together. They worked on this back and forth for god knows how long. I just find it so baffling how they keep trying to calm us down by spoon-feeding us pathetic excuses and lies hoping to blow it off, and then drop this bombshell of merch on us. How they’re handling all of this is terrible.
But please, I need to remind everyone to not send death threats to CRWBY or RT. If you do that, you’re not just speaking out your thoughts anymore, you’re also being an asshole. I’m not saying you don’t deserve to be upset, of-fucking-course you have that right, but don’t take it out on CRWBY in such a harmful way. Rant and vent if you need to, but don’t attack them. They fucked up by egging Fair Game on and trying to bullshit their way out of the heat, but they don’t deserve to be threatened.
Have a good week everyone.
Canon: Zane Flynt fucks
Me: haha u know what this means ;))))
Me:
Me:
Me: merfolk glamour time
[[MORE]]
Alright but for real tho u wanna see how deep I am in this fucking universe? Lego
I don't even know where to begin with this universe (Zer0 is an alien! Hammerlock is a werewolf! Troy is psychic! Tannis is a skag! Wait, no, wrong shitpost...) so imma open the 140 page document and start from the beginning
Annnnd Clay! Junpai-7.
When Zane meets Clay for the first time he mentions they did a smuggling job together on Junpai-7, u know, the water planet, so obviously this is good news (This made me super happy because my discord channel's name had been the junpai-7 moon pool for a while so I was like 'holy shit it's canon now' :') )
Timeline wise this isn't the beginning, but I don't write in chronological order and I don't order anything in chronological order, either, so. Eh.
Speaking of chronological order, I once got a line where Zane was like exclaiming something and used the moon instead of idk a god or powerful figure or smth and I was like 'lmao that's canon now'
So the moon... Elpis fucking got yeeted halfway across the galaxy or smth, and, considering we've seen (more) ocean on Pandora in 3 instead of just, like, Liars Berg (getting to THAT) or Tretchers landing, I feel bad for the tides. But that's good news for everyone else. Unless you were on Elpis, I guess.
Also hoh boy the 'end' of the game where Troy Phaselocks the moon was fun to write (it actually wasn't, I lowkey hate writing Moonstruck phases because... It hurts and I can't do it well.) also can we talk about how in tps the psychos are called Moonstrucks in tvhm because this makes me so happy. I really hope they did that intentionally considering H2O is an Australian show because my two favorite things combined can and will kill me. Wait actually the Troy boss fight is gonna be hilarious to write mostly because of that one attack with the tidal waves lol oh no
Also, also, also, you guys it's only explained in a guide book and never actually in-game as to why Captain's ship is Like That (TM) so I took some liberties and uhhh blame the Crackening. I mean the crackening happened after dahl pulled out of Pandora/Elpis so it works. It sorta works. It mostly works. Fuck. It works okay? shut. That's why Liars Berg is all frozen ocean [shoves 3 page essay about climate change on Pandora into the trash] don't need that anymore.
I was gonna talk about smth else
Oh yeah
Mostly brain freeze and trick of the light. That one meme video I made of Tannis and the Flynt Brothers imposed over that one clip of H2O (so let me get this straight: you freeze things, you explode things, and you boil things) wasn't just for laughs, it was actually a warning.
Each Flynt has a thing and Zane's is ice, Baron's is explosions, and Captain's is fire. (Glorious cleansing fire) Because it fits. It fits so well. I will say right off the bat that Mako Mermaids isn't my canon. I lowkey want to write out Charlotte as well (lol) because I've seen the 2nd season so many times and tbh I much prefer them having 1 really strong power over having 3+ really weak powers. Also Charlotte did nothing wrong in the first half of that season. Cleo was just a bitch to her. And Mako Mermaids is just. Not great on the power side of things. You can TURN INVISIBLE. USE IT. Soooo. (also cam got destroyed in s1 and I'm so glad they ended up making him work in s2 and 3. Because he deserved better and Zac was a terrible friend to him and only got away with it because he's a main character). /rant sorry I have so many feelings about these shows. Grew up with them soooooo.
And if ur wondering why I brought up trick of the light it's cause the 13th year exists and that movie was bopping. U guys remember Jess? Good times... Tuba pool scene is iconic. U know the one. I would also bring up aquamarine but ngl that movie was weaksauce comparatively. They hid that bitch in a water tower and iunno talked to earrings. Meanwhile in the 13th year they bring Jess back from the fucking dead and climb on walls like Spiderman. Clearly one is superior.
"but cruddy Aurelia has ice powers too and she's not a mermaid" no she's a werewolf like her brother we already went over that. Did u think I was kidding? No! I'm never kidding unless I am and I fucking love werewolves so I'd never kid about that. I love werewolves and I love Hammerlock and it's perfect I just love the idea of this gentlemanly hunter being a werewolf because I want to see a giant hulking monster being all proper and shit. They're just really cool. Werewolves > vampires and ngl I'm sad skyrim screwed over werewolves with the dawnguard dlc. Anyway Aurelia's ice powers are nanobots as explained in-game and listen I already lore-scienced this okay? Let me say it's amazing the things science is capable of when it thinks it's trying to beat out a competitor and doesn't realize non-Siren magic exists. Even better now that we know Sirens are not Eridian and actually existed before Eridians. Makes me giddy to think about. The universe is tearing me APART Lisa.
Oh speaking of, can we talk about the witch's brew quest on eden-6 because holy shit I had been writing Hiromi and her fascination with discovering all the secret circles long before the game came out and then learning about the group of witches and The Pact (TM) made me lose my shit because 'oh my god it's actually canon now'. We're on the canon path nowwwww. Soon. I hope we get a water planet dlc. I wants it, GB, I wants it.
Also I was totally gonna write a clip in the main story of the game (because I write a lot of backstory stuff if you can't tell, I only have like 3 scenes that take place during the events of the game and like 4 that are speculatory from before the game came out (including a scene from before I realized Troy was Like That but I edited it so he's more in-line and also has Maya's powers now so that's... Hm. In line with the storyline somewhere, but not an actual scene in the games story. Because its not possible with how the game does things (seperating Vault Hunters) I suppose I could just insert a 5th Vault somewhere and say it's the 4th Vault connected to the Machine (with nekrotefeyo's being the 5th). Fuck it.) and then 9,000 are backstory) where Hiromi comes back after like decades of the two not seeing each other and she's been hired to assassinate Zane by one of the many corporations looking for his corpse for a multitude of reasons (And Emma and Nino are both d e a d a s f, you know, for context). And like Barnabas (ya old bastard) Zane is still joking around and just having a grand old time catching up with his black ops buddy meanwhile she had just tried to blow his brains out (she's a sniper) and got pretty damn close. She's not even amused because of her psychic powers so she's just like 'ok' every time he opens his mouth because she already knows what he's going to say she's mostly just frustrated that she missed because she thought she knew him well enough to go off instead of just listening to her intuition but alas people change after, like, 3 decades of not seeing them.
Oh since we're talking about Hiromi that reminds me why Zane wears the black suit. In my non-h2o universe it's because it looks cool and provides some protection from dots. In the H2Oniverse it is because it's waterproof. Okay wait hang on context so Hiromi doesn't like take off his suit or anything, she's extremely gay and not interested, because I realize now how that sounds me relating Hiromi to the clothes, they just get into an argument about how Sirens don't have to follow any arbitrary rules to hide their magic and how it's easier to hide magic without giant glowing tattoos (and mind you this is before Zane even knows Tannis exists though he does immediately know she's a Siren and that's a whole nother can of worms) and hr's like 'I wear a bodysuit for most of my waking hours, so I am pretty sure they can try wearing long sleeved shirts and makeup for a day. Just a suggestion' but like way more in character (and for the scene) because do I sound like I'm in character right now? I'm not. I'm me. And God what a terrible thing to be.
So context for the context: ~magic is real~. If you've got it then you can usually tell who else has it if you're looking. It's especially clear if they're 'similar' to you (if ur a werewolf and u meet another werewolf then you sorta just know they're a werewolf) or if you're psychic (like Hiromi) then you can make some informed guesses. Like. Same Hat? Same Hat!!! Sirens are basically such powerful magic users that they are in literally a whole nother ball park. They're leagues above everyone else. Kill you just by looking at you sort of deal. So sirens normally don't feel other magic because their own magic is so strong it just 'overwrites' the other signals. You know, to not only explain why Lilith isn't immediately like 'who the fuck are you' to Zane and also how Amara couldn't tell Tannis is a Siren. I had a whole thing with Troy (who is psychic) being able to tell Zane had magic despite being near 4 Sirens at once because Troy grew up with Tyreen always at his side so he's used to it and knows how to look through it. Meanwhile Hiromi is basically incapacitated when she's near a Siren because she gets overwhelmed because her powers make it easier for her to read other people's magic.
Oh, context, the black ops outfit worked with Atlas for a short time (the group being Zane, Hiromi, Emma, and Nino. Emma is the yeehaw captain. She's the leader) and ended up meeting Steele for a little bit. Hiromi was just dead the entire meeting, Zane was totally out of it, and Emma and Nino were too busy eyefucking to really care that there was a Siren in the room so. Just imagine one person lying face down on the floor and crying, another staring at the wall without blinking, two undressing each other with their eyes, and then Cmdt. Steele standing in the middle like 'how the fuck did I get here'.
So that was everyone's first experience with a Siren.
There are more but ehhhh I'm tired and I mostly wrote this because I wanted to talk about it with someone else but they haven't read the whole thing yet so now I can scream into the void about it and not feel like I'm bothering them.
Hooray!
Please forgive me for tacking onto your answer, because I basically agree with what you’ve said here, and I just have a LOT of feelings about this subject. Oliver Queen has had a fairly consistent characterization in comics (unlike other characters - and more on that later), up until  the post-Grell run in the early ‘90s. Up until that point, we see Ollie primarily depicted as an opinionated, flawed, but very human character. He’s aware of his faults, and does his best to learn and be better (he was, in fact, poster child for a lot of more progressive writing in DC’s history regarding politics and social issues, along with Dinah Lance.) After Mike Grell’s run, we start seeing some tension between several major Green Arrow-centric runs, and the way Oliver Queen is characterized in other titles (specifically, stories involving Dinah, who at the time had broken up with Oliver.) So Fanon!Ollie is frustrating in that it tends to highlight his worst moments (his reaction to discovering Roy’s addiction, for instance) while downplaying his better qualities (such as, seeking to make amends with Roy and growing exponentially as a person and mentor by the time he meets Mia.) It’s also frustrating in that it’s an echo of the inconsistency of his writing in canon from roughly the early 90s onwards; particularly in what little of the post-2011 content I’ve read. (There’s also MAJOR influence from Arrow!Ollie which is also a whole other can of worms.) What I personally find really fascinating about it all, is how fanon!Bruce gets a very different approach. Despite being arguably the most inconsistently-written character in the entire DCU, a lot of fanon really focuses in on his good qualities, and overlooks the negative ones. Bruce isn’t as consistent or reliable of a father figure as Ollie, despite having more ‘kids’; though I wouldn’t necessarily call him the worst father in the DCU, either. It’s just really noticeable how much the fanon!Batfam really leans into being a family despite there being frequent instances of various Robins hating each other enough to do harm to each other; half of them have never lived under Bruce’s care at the same time; and Bruce has some wildly different types of relationships with each. Whereas whenever Ollie’s kids are all written into the same comic, there’s a VERY strong underscore of their comfort and familiarity with one another and with Oliver. (Barring Sin, but she’s also a whole other kettle of fish.) ANYWAY SORRY AGAIN TO BASICALLY DROP A GIANT ASS RANT ADDENDUM THAT JUST AGREES WITH YOU OP.
for the ask game: how about fanon oliver queen
I'd say the most annoying fanon thing is that people who know absolutely nothing about his character sometimes see him as a bad dad. Like it seems he gets judged solely on his very brief/lack of appearance in rhato 2011 when that's like... his worst appearances in literally anything.
Especially when it's in comparison to Bruce, I can see why people get frustrated if it's claimed Bruce is a better dad than Ollie because that's just.... false. Canonically speaking, from my understanding Ollie being a bad dad is more of a few time things, whereas reading batfamily content in the modern age, it's very hard to find a run without bad dad bruce bargaining in and ruining things (he literally even has bad dad moments in NTT). I'll probably have more opinions later once I've read more comics, but Oliver genuinely seems like he tries to learn and make up for his mistakes and i think it's weird fanon seemed to have just kind of, looked at him said "oh canon is always bad, dark and gritty, so he prolly just as bad as Bruce"
THIS IS A LONG RANT/ADDITION/HIJACK TO YOUR POST. OP I'M SORRY.
As a POC critter and someone who has more than tangential knowledge how BDSM should work, how this played out made me extremely uncomfortable as well. (I don't think this would have happened, or would have at least been reprimanded/smoothed over if Taliesin were there*, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
First and foremost, BDSM is not always sexual. It's an experience that may or may not include sex, and (in my opinion) sex is rarely the focus/end goal, although it may be used as a conduit. (Please don't ask me about 50 Sh***s of Gr*y. Please.)
"Safe, sane, and consensual" is a phrase you hear thrown around a lot, and there's and argument to be made that extreme forms can't be "safe, sane, and consensual", but I'm not about to dump that can of worms on here.
This post is getting long enough as it is, so here are some bullet points to illustrate how what happened would not happen in a real BDSM scene:
Contract/talk about what you're comfortable with- Loose terms were "set" (???), but no boundaries were set.
"Scene" - Beau and Caleb (also Caduceus and Yasha) were very uncomfortable. Beau told Jester she'd get her back for this -> Beau was forced to do things she didn't want. Caleb as well with the shoe shining. (Even with the assumption that any rag he had would've been dirty, that was a conscious word choice from Liam)
Aftercare - none? I might have zoned out if they did check in with each other after all of that
*he just had chains in his closet and he didn't know where they came from??? (gencon outfit video with Brian if you don't remember) and was mildly entertained when Brian mentioned using it to be submissive. Maybe I'm projecting because we're both old souls lol
TLDR; it wasn't BDSM and the M9 really need to talk with each other more about what they think is ok. Also I love Talisin Gaffe.
I understand that it was played for laughs but the slavery aspect of this episode made me extremely uncomfortable.
I understand the necessity of posing as slaves. But the treatment of their friends in that manner wasn’t funny to me.
The need to jump to BDSM to take the tension off makes sense but there was nothing sexual about the situation.
I also get that as a POC critter I have different sensibilities.
I’m not condemning anyone for their enjoyment or interpretation of the situation. I guess I just wanted to know if anyone else felt this way.
