Ok. Watching the episode now and I have seen some spoilers so I have been bracing myself each time Misaki was on screen. Ultimately, I feel like Misaki's writing was less of an issue than I was lead to believe - I was almost pleasantly surprised as I was actually afraid they would pull back on her ep10 characterisation - it was the story direction that took the hit. Out of all possible ways to resolve that conflict I feel like this one was the cheapest. BD had only three female characters actually relevant to the story; one of them appeared in one episode, another is five and now the last one was just killed off for plot progression. On the whole, this somehow actually managed to be both better and worse than I expected

Listen, I'm just gonna offer the best gpose tip anyone has ever told me...
If the clipping is happening out of view
Then clipping doesn't exist.
This is the same for crunchy limbs, crunchy elbows, weirdly posed cloth, etc.
Clipping happens. Clipping in gpose is an unavoidable thing. The sooner you accept clipping happens, the happier you will be trying to gpose.
Yes I know it's not easy to accept. Esp if you're very hard-wired to correct any errors, or if you're a perfectionist (like me).
But I promise you, eventually you just stop caring about it.
And if you point it out, or any flaws on someone's gpose when you were not explicitly asked for constructive critique, on someone's gpose I hope both sides of your pillow are warm and that you stub your toe on something different every time you get up so you can never avoid it.

what did you mean about laudna and ashton driving you nuts?
mmmmm. dangerous territory! for me, i mean. to indulge the side of me that don't give a fu about–
it's pretty interesting how this ep turned out to be a direct comparison between laudna and ashton and how they discover and come to terms with the idea that there is an option for them to ostensibly destroy themselves in the name of protecting/helping/saving the rest of the party
a few ppl have already discussed this with far more thought and nuance than i'm willing to put into words right now but something something both of them taking this as an opportunity to Be Useful and Contribute to the cause, blind or perhaps willingly ignorant to the fact that these people love them for who they are and that they don't need to Do Something in order to be loved - in fact, losing them is actually a far less acceptable outcome to the party than whatever reward they perceive to be gained from their self-sacrifice. which is all very sad and tragic and juicy and pulls at the heartstrings which i always love. but this is kind of where the similarities end?
laudna follows this with a conversation in which she tells imogen what she would want to happen in rather explicit terms. and when imogen responds by saying she'll do everything in her power to stop it from getting to that point, laudna says "i can accept that." the next morning, they tell the whole group what happened. on the other hand, ashton pulls fearne aside and has their own grave conversation but in more vague terms, at least in the sense that i don't think fearne picked up what they were putting down or at the very least wasn't given the opportunity to really process and respond to what was asked. and then ashton isolated the two of them from the rest of the group to undergo this transformation without their knowledge. all of which drives me nuts! to see the direct comparison in which one is so much more communicative than the other
and i don't think it's fair to say that this is a consequence of the party being poor communicators overall. it's somewhat reminiscent of vax's initial response to scanlan leaving in c1 - we don't know your mother's name because you never talked about it. aka there's a difference between ashton bringing up this desire or plan to hold both shards and everyone brushing it off/not sufficiently exploring it vs. ashton choosing not to ask for their opinions, ideas, or feelings about it because he thinks they won't let him do it. he unilaterally made the decision for everyone, which is the most frustrating part for me. they presume to know what is best for everyone, and they presume to know that this is the only option, despite being surrounded by not only some of the most powerful people on the planet but also the people who care for them the most. which he said himself: nobody will miss me when i die, given that we all die - implicitly saying that if i am the only one who dies, i know you all will miss me. so to me it feels disrespectful to them, because even having acknowledged that they care, he doesn't trust that they might have ideas for a better solution or that they might recognize what this means to him and try to help him survive it. or that they might not want to be "saved" if it means losing him. or that they might like to say goodbye.
i know many people are saying that this is in line for ashton's character, frustrating or not, which i think is true. but it feels stagnant to me. ashton has come a long way in terms of learning to care for these people but they have learned little about being cared for. and while laudna is trying to believe what others say to her (that they love her, that she's important, that she deserves life) with varying degrees of success, to me ashton feels like they have made minimal progress and/or aren't trying to make progress. they refuse to see bells hells for what they so loudly and clearly are - people who love and care for each other, ashton included. and unfortunately, 77 episodes in and coming up on a vastly important mission (the first in a while), this brand of hypocrisy (taliesin's words not mine!) and lack of awareness for the group's feelings in the name of High Risk High Reward is something i have a rather low tolerance for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
and for the record i've been thinking about this a loooot because i know most of it is colored by my general apathy toward this character. and i understand that a lot of people who love this character are so so fascinated by and invested in what happened. but my apathy toward ashton is something that i've tried to circumvent or logic my way out of a LOT in the past few years and at this point it's kind of an immovable object. and doing mental gymnastics to try and enjoy someone that i simply don't makes everything so much worse! so i don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but these are my thoughts whether i like it or not
tl;dr the end of this ep didn't make me excited, it just kinda made me feel annoyed and crazy. sorry

Orchid and Horror doodles! (More context under the cut!)
Orchid is an errormare ship kid! She was made from loose magic in a bid to make an heir for Nightmare so that he could give Dream even more hell than before. However, the child he'd intended to train into a weapon ended up being far too cute, so he raised her right instead.
Horror was one of Orchid's main influences as a babybones, because Horror was pretty much the only one who'd looked out for his brother in his own au. Night trusted him to be around her from the start (Dust and Killer didn't recieve that same trust) so as much as Orchid most certainly knew Night was her father, Horror was her Uncle from the start. He knew how to raise a babybones and helped Night learn (with actual hands-on learning instead of his books).
Of course, Horror was also her main influence even after her bad injury (cracked open her skull and snapped off her leg). The rest of the household coddled her, rightfully so, but she didn't like the taste of their pity and wirry. She would more often than not try to keep up a brave face up until Horror arrived, and then she'd dig into his jacket and cry and tell him all about her woes. Little kid logic on this one I guess.
And of course he didn't always know how to help, but he tried not to take away her freedom now that she was injured. Obviously her bed-rest days were important, but he'd carry her around on her better days and have her watch him cook or train. She picked up most of her swearwords from Horror, and she loves to use his hands-on fighting style when she's older too.
Horror was the reason she grew less ashamed of her head wound and loss of death perception. He never treated her too differently about it, and one day during an outburst, Nightmare told her that Horror had the same injury as her, in a way. That had almost immediately changed her perspective.
And yeag, idk. I just really wanted to finally draw Orchid with her favorite uncle. She might've gotten all her magic lessons from Nightmare, but her combat style is built on the base which Horror gave to her.
Oh!! Bonus art!
Tumblr media
Idk if I posted this or not, but Orchid is on the right! She usually uses her 'Spindles' to move, but Post-Eternal Ashes and very shortly after her injury she uses these canes(???) To get around a lot more often. As a kid Horror and Dust taught her how to keep her balance on her one leg and move quickly using these crutches so she wasn't vulnerable if her magic was restricted. (Don't mind Shotput on the left, he's unrelated. Just didn't wanna crop it weird.)

im gonna complain about da4 fandom again for a hot sec
so like, back when folks were defending the surprise layoffs, there was an argument i saw from 2 or 3 big DA4 accounts on here that mary kirby deserved to get fired for writing all the racism into the dragon age universe (??????? HUH??? WHA???). anyways it's VERY FUNNY (weird) to see the exact same bloggers gushing about mary kirby's work on DA4, because they found out she wrote their new fav blorbo lucanis. like a month ago yall were saying she was a horrible terrible person and deserved to get fired and were accusing her of being violently racist??? now you're clinging to her every post about her writing for the game??

Am I the only one who is really fed up with the in-game state of Orisa right now?
She has been more of a menace after her rework in general, with the golden rule being Don't Shoot The Horse, but I think it's been getting a bit out of hand. It feels like every update, the small indie developer Blizzard forgets what happened last time and just buffs her again.
You can't even counter Orisa properly as a tank. There are heroes that play into her weaknesses, yes, but the best advice on how to counter her still remains just Please God Do Not Engage The Horse. The only problem is that if an Orisa is smart and decides to just W into you at all times, getting so close she can smell the sweat running down your neck, there is virtually nothing you can do, or at least it can feel like that.
Like, there is a huge problem with tank counter-swapping in general, but when I load in just wanting to vibe as a Ramattra main and the tank swaps Orisa? I think tearing your skin off would be a more pleasant experience at this point.
This tank has two CC abilities, one that eats projectiles and pushes you away if she runs into you, and another that does decent damage (which they just buffed btw...) and stuns you for a good couple of seconds. But if that wasn't enough, she also has an ability that not only reduces damage taken, not only gives overhealth, but also makes her immune to all CC.
If she had one or two of these - you know what? I think she would be fine. Maybe taking one displacement ability from her could already do the trick. Or maybe make her just a little less tanky. But as is I hate the stupid Horse and I hope it gets nerfed soon because I have to play against it ever second game. Sorry to Orisa as a character btw. she's cute but let her reign end please.

It grows ever more likely Campaign 3 will legit kill off Vox Machina and/or Mighty Nein characters as a plot device to show the severity of the Bells Hells situation (Vax again?) and I personally, am just not here for that.
