A Villain Deku scene
Katsuki woke up, his head spinning. His gauntlets were missing from his arms. Looking around, he realized he was tied to a chair. Nearby, watching a screen, was Deku Izuku. Izuku turned around, moving his body to face Katsuki.
"You're awake now, good," Izuku said. "Now tell me exactly why you were here." He delivered the last part as if it was a threat, with a wave of his knife to show just how dangerous he could be. Katsuki already knew that, though. He had seen the reports, the videos, of Izuku fighting even seasoned pros with the quirks he had at his disposal.
"I wanted to tell you something-" Katsuki began, but he was quickly cut off by Izuku speaking again.
"Is that why you showed up in your hero costume? Is that why you brought these?" Izuku questioned, pointing towards Katsuki's gauntlets that Izuku had placed aside.
"Yes. I was scared, because I thought something like this might happen." Katsuki answered.
"Something like what?"
"A misunderstanding. I was worried you'd think I was coming to attack you, and I wanted to be prepared in case you decided to go after me preemptively," Katsuki said.
"Alright. But what did you want to tell me?" Izuku asked.
"I wanted to tell you I was fucking sorry," Katsuki said. Izuku seemed a little shocked at that admission.
"Really? Now that's unexpected Kacchan," Izuku replied.
"What?" Katsuki asked, "That I'm sorry or that I'd admit it?"
"Either one, really." Izuku replied.
"Well it's true. I don't expect you to forgive me or anything, I just wanted to tell you. Now let me fucking go," Katsuki said.
"No," Izuku said, bringing back the threatening tone he had earlier.
"What do you mean no? I told you what I wanted to tell you, now let me go!" Katsuki replied angrily.
"Do you really think I'm just going to let the heroes' best assests just go? Kacchan, it's only thanks to that little admission that I'm not killing you right now." Izuku said.
Even now, Katsuki had failed to see Izuku as a threat. He knew what he could do, sure, but he hadn't even thought that Izuku could threaten his life. But he realized it now, that throughout this conversation, he was talking to someone who had killed or injured dozens of pros. He should've known from when he came that it wouldn't be easy to walk out alive.
"Well then what are you going to do with me?" Katsuki asked, only now having any hint of fear in his voice.
"Oh, I'm not sure. This is a big base. I'm sure I could find use for you somewhere. Although I might just put you in the vault," Izuku said, and for the first time Katsuki thought there might be a fate worse than death.
In fear, he let sparks fly from his palms, igniting the sweat that had gathered there since the beginning of the conversation. The chair broke apart, and Katsuki was pushed forward from the explosion. He ran to the nearest window, using explosions to propel himself further.
"What are you doing?" Izuku asked incredulously, not only worried that Katsuki would escape, but worried that he could die from whatever fall he hoped to take.
"I'm following my own advice. Taking a swan dive and praying," Katsuki said as he jumped out of the window. Katsuki fell until a winged hero swooped in from above, catching him before his fall could seriously hurt him.

Hawks held a caring glare towards Katsuki through the flight. "That was a stupid plan, y'know."
"It worked," Katsuki grumbled, regretting the fact that he had left his gauntlets with Izuku. He was going to have to get the Support Department to make him new ones. At least he had a good reason for redesigning them.
"You could've gotten yourself killed, Bakugo," Hawks said with a twinge of caring anger. "Did you at least get to say what you wanted to say?"
"Yes."
"And do you feel any better?" Hawks asked.
"Not really," Bakugo replied. This was the first time he held fear for the other boy. Not Izuku Midoriya, his old friend, but Deku, the villain he helped create.

Rooftops
Pairing: ProHero!Deku x Reader
Description: Sometimes being a Hero isn’t just fighting villains and rescuing people from burning buildings; sometimes it’s battling demons and rescuing people from themselves instead.
Warnings: Suicidal reader, thoughts of suicide, attempted suicide? (reader doesn’t succeed), trauma bonding, mentions of bullying, little bit of touch starvation? Talks of therapy, decision to try therapy.
A/N: I guess you could say I needed to vent some heavy things. PLEASE do not read this if you are triggered by anything mentioned above. Also, I HC that Midoriya never would have gone through with it, but he might have at one point been in the reader’s position, and I wish they would expand on how what Katsuki said and did to him in middle school affected his life more. I will never be satisfied until we get a proper apology from Bakugou and the two of them sort out their feelings about it, bc you KNOW that had to create some trauma. So I guess this might be sort of a fix-it fic? Also, I’m sorry for the ending, it might be cringe, idk. I can’t help but add fluff to everything I write, apparently. I love Best Boi, what can I say?
You breathed in the cool night air as you leaned against the railing, fingers trembling slightly against the rusty metal. Everything seemed so surreal; the noisy traffic below, the people bustling down streets and alleyways, the dimmed apartment lights from the building across... What did any of it matter? In the grand scheme of things, you were just a small spec of the universe observing all these phenomenons, a waste of space taking up time that could belong to something or someone more useful than your sorry excuse of an existence. That’s what you thought, at least.
You leaned a little farther over and rested your chest against the bars of steel. Would anyone miss you if you were to just...disappear? If you dropped everything and left right now, would anyone care? Would anyone cry for your absence? These were questions you had asked yourself over and over again, and each time you had managed to convince yourself that maybe, just maybe, the answer was yes, someone would care. But each time the questions rolled around in your head, it got harder to convince yourself of that. You found doubts in every corner of your mind, in every crack and crevice of your brain that they could slink into. Quiet at first, but now as loud as a siren, they overwhelmed you and made you believe you were worthless. They beat you down, exhausted you, claimed your once happy spirit and soiled it with numbness and apathy. Those doubts were the reason you wholeheartedly believed that you no longer mattered to anyone.
They were also the reason you were twenty stories up in the air on the roof of your apartment building.
Steeling your nerves and taking a deep breath, you let everything sink in. This was what you were waiting for all these years. All of your life had lead up to this single moment; all of your past mistakes, all of your life decisions, all of the lost friends, your job, your family and their snide remarks, your short comings...and all the rest. It didn’t matter. Every time you blinked, every sneeze, every laugh, whether genuine or fake, didn’t matter. Nothing mattered, including you.
Nothing matters, and no one cares.
And with that final thought, you hoisted yourself up and over the railing, limbs heavy with a dull numbness as you planted your feet loosely on the other side. For a second you balanced yourself, arms outstretched behind you to grip on to the bars for one last fleeting sense of security. Just one more step. But even as you moved forward, you found that your hands seemed to tighten their grip on the steel, and suddenly you felt physical panic despite your mind telling you that this was what you really wanted. It seemed your body was defying your mind.
“I don’t think you want to do that.”
Startled, you stumbled back and tightened your hold on the rails until your knuckles turned white. Were you imagining things, or did you just hear a voice? And if so, who was it and what were they doing all the way up here? Whatever their business was though, it surely had nothing to do with you, right? So why were they meddling in your affairs when you just wanted to be left alone? The thought of it was just a little too much, and you found yourself snapping at whoever was behind you.
“Uh, yeah, I think I do.” It came out more spiteful than you meant it to sound. But then, that was just how you were these days...bitter and cold. All the more reason to end everything.
“Please, just come back over here to the other side of the railing. We can talk if you want, or I can just sit with you, or we can listen to music together if that would help?” The stranger’s voice was gentle and pleading, as if he was afraid to break you if he spoke too loud.
“Just leave me alone! Why do you care anyway?” You stole a glance behind you to get a good look at the person trying to talk you down. The first thing you noticed was the green hair, and then the pair of concerned emerald eyes reflecting back at you. Under those were a set of freckles, giving him an overall boyish look, and finally- his costume. You recognized Japan’s Number One Hero, Deku.
“Because I don’t want to see you get hurt...or worse.” His tone was solemn. “I’m sorry, but I can’t just leave you alone up here. Clearly you had one purpose for coming up here, and I’m not going to let you go through with it.”
For a moment, you felt your heart soar at the possibility that someone cared after all. But just as hope was about to take root and bloom within your chest, it seemed that your mind had other ideas to cut the poor blossom out. As fast as the feeling settled, it was gone, and you reminded yourself that this was his job; he was required to help anyone who he thought might be in trouble. It wasn’t like he really wanted to be up here talking to you.
“What the hell do you know about why I’m up here? And anyways...it’s your job to save people. You don’t have to pretend to care about me. It doesn’t matter if you’re the number one hero or not, you’re still going to forget about me some day or another. A week from now you won’t even think twice about me. I’m forgettable. I don’t matter...not really. So please just leave me be. You’re bothering me.” No matter how hard you tried to keep the anger in your voice, you couldn’t help how it faded with each passing second. It was tiring to keep feeling everything and nothing all at once. You wanted it all to just stop.
There was long moment of silence that passed between the two of you, which you took as a sign that you had been right about everything you had just said. Your anxieties and nerves were starting to get to you by then; you were about to really go through with it and had inched forward slightly when he decided to speak again.
“Once, someone told me to take a swan dive off the roof of my old school.” Your breath hitched as you stopped in your tracks. “I know what it’s like not to be wanted or needed by everyone around you. To feel like a failure, like there’s no hope left... Like you’re not worth saving. But even if you really think and believe all those things you said about yourself, just know that I care. And it’s not because it’s my job to, or because I’m a Pro Hero, or because I just happened to be in the area and saw you up here after my shift ended. It’s because at one point in my life, I could relate to where you are now.”
You were left without words for once as you stood there, wind whipping through your hair and eyes focused on nothing in particular. After the initial shock wore off, you finally turned around to face him. You searched his eyes for any trace of deception, anything to prove that maybe he was lying or just trying to get to you, but all you could find was sincere honesty. And Deku, upon seeing you turn around from the edge of the building, seemed to tense for a second before continuing.
“I climbed up to the top of the school roof that day and when I got up there, I just...stared down. All I could think about at the time was making the pain and the numbness go away. But then I thought of my mom’s face when she would hear the news...and I thought of how I would only be a statistic after that- a number, you know, like the ones I recorded every day in my notebook. But I didn’t want that. I had a name that I loved, a mother waiting for me at home, and a dream I was still holding on to. I realized what I really wanted was to prove everyone wrong, to still become the hero I wanted to be as a little boy. And even more than that, I just wanted the pain to stop. I think that’s what people truly want- just to feel better.” He gave you a small smile and offered a hand to you after that, and you swore his eyes were glistening a little if you looked close enough. “I would care if you were gone. I would think about it every day. I don’t even know your name, but your face is already engraved in my mind. I would have made the biggest mistake of my life had I ended things that day; look at where I am now! If I let someone else take away all their future opportunities and potential life experiences knowing that I could have stopped them, knowing that I didn’t offer them the support I desperately wanted when I was going through it, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.”
“...you mean that?” You couldn’t help the tremble in your voice.
“Every word. Please, just come back over to this side and talk to me. Tell me what’s going on in that head of yours. I promise I’ll do my best to help however I can.”
Something pulled at your heartstrings as you listened to him. He had put into words everything you had been feeling these past few months, everything you wanted to express but just couldn’t. Tentatively, you reached out a hand to meet his, and he wasted no time as he wrapped his other arm around your waist and hoisted you back over the railing towards safety and into his arms.
“Oh thank god,” he breathed out. His arm was still wound tight around your waist as he pulled you flush to him and walked you backwards. When the two of you reached the wall of the entryway to the rooftop, he stopped and slid down to the floor with you, a heavy sigh of relief escaping his lips. “Please don’t ever scare me like that again.” You blinked back tears as you leaned into Deku’s tight hug, your arms coming up to wrap around him as well. You couldn’t remember the last time someone had been so loving and caring with you or the last time you had been hugged like this.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you. I’m here.”
That was all it took for the dam inside of you to burst.
Hot tears finally spilled over and soaked Deku’s costume as all the emotions you had been suppressing came back full force. You hid your face in his shirt to try and stifle your cries as much as you could, but it was no use. There was no hiding the turmoil in your soul; all you could do was endure the sadness and frustration while he held you and comforted you. Slowly the reality of the situation started to sink in, and the realization that you almost took your own life hit you full force.
“I...I almost-!” You didn’t have the strength to finish your sentence as you sobbed harder and shook in the hero’s arms. He eventually shifted the two of you around to a more comfortable position and rubbed circles on your shoulder soothingly while you cried, a look of understanding and empathy in his eyes.
“But you didn’t. And you know what that tells me? That despite all those lies you’re telling yourself, there’s still a part of you left that wants to live. There’s still a part of you, no matter how small, that’s holding on to hope that things will get better. Find that feeling deep down inside you, grasp it, and never let go of it. You deserve to exist here. You deserve to be loved. You deserve to wake up each day and live and enjoy life. And I know you probably don’t feel that way right now, but believe me when I say that it’s the truth.” A comfortable silence settled between the two of you as you took a moment to contemplate his words.
“You said we could talk if I wanted to...” you sniffled.
“Sure, we can talk. It doesn’t even have to be about anything in particular. Whatever you want to talk about, I’ll listen.”
So you told him everything. You poured your heart out to someone who was no more than a stranger to you, even if you recognized his face because it was plastered on every poster and broadcasted on every T.V. Even if you knew who Deku was, the person behind the mask was someone else entirely, and it brought a sense of comfort to you to know that a real person was listening to your troubles and caring about them. For once, someone was taking the time to make you a priority, and that was not something you were used to.
“I’m sorry, you’re probably tired of listening to me by now. I can’t believe I dumped all of that on y-” you tried to apologize, but he shook his head and cut you off before you could finish.
“Don’t be. I offered, didn’t I? I genuinely want to hear about what’s troubling you. Everyone deserves to be listened to, especially when they’re hurting. You’re important, and what you have to say is also important. Don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise.”
You blinked up at him with wide eyes. How was he so good at this? A thought crossed your mind then, and you wondered for a brief moment if...had anyone ever listened to him? He had taken the time to calm you down and make you feel important by listening wholeheartedly to everything you had to say. The least you could do was return the favor, right?
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re a really good listener?” you asked, a small but sincere smile on your face.
“Yes, actually. Plenty of times, but I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing it. It just means I’m succeeding at making others feel important, which is what I aim to do, so thank you for that.” He stared up at the night sky, his eyes reflecting the sparkling stars above. They were...so full of life. You found that fact inspiring.
There was a small pause before you asked him another question, hesitance evident in your voice. “Have you...told anyone? About what you said to me earlier, I mean.” It came out more awkward than you intended it to, and he seemed confused about what you were trying to ask.
“About what I said to you earlier?”
“Y-You know, the...rooftop...” you trailed off, not wanting to pry if he didn’t want to talk about it after all. “I’m so sorry, I just assumed since you mentioned it earlier that maybe you wanted to talk about it or something- Ah, I’m making things worse, I’m really sorry!” You ran your hands through your hair, anxiety getting the better of you and making your heart race. Deku shifted slightly beside you but kept his arm around your shoulders, a look of understanding coming over him.
“Oh, that?” He gave a small airy laugh. “While I appreciate the concern, I have a really great therapist. It’s kind of a requirement for Pros; we deal with a lot on the job.”
“...oh.” Oh. Oh. You weren’t sure what you were expecting, but certainly not...that. “Again, I’m sorry if I pried,” you apologized one last time. At the sound of your third ‘I’m sorry’, Deku looked over at you thoughtfully.
“You know, I used to apologize a lot too. Actually, my therapist was the one who got me to kick the bad habit. Speaking of which...” He reached into one of the red pouches on his costume belt and produced a single card between his index and middle finger, the lamination of it emitting a dim glare as he held it out to you. “I think you could really benefit from therapy. I’m not saying that to be rude or anything-!” His face flushed as he tried to explain himself; he didn’t want you to feel like he was dismissing you or that he wasn’t concerned with your issues. “I swear! I just...really think you could use another person in your corner right now. They’re super nice, I promise! I’ll even help you set up an appointment if you want.”
You shrunk a little at the idea of seeing a therapist, but took the card anyway. The writing on the little piece of plastic stared back at you menacingly, an uncomfortable feeling settling in your gut.
Dr. T/N T/L/N Deku Agency Specialist in Psychology Phone: 800-888-8880 Email (Mon-Fri): T/nT/l/[email protected] Office Hours: Mon-Sat, 9am-5pm
As if he could read your turbulent mind, Deku pulled you closer and rested his head against yours. “I know talking to someone else about your problems seems scary at first, but it really helps. If you keep everything bottled up, then those feelings and problems don’t have anywhere to go, and they’ll eat you up on the inside. Therapy gives you a safe way of letting those feelings out and sorting through problems in healthy ways. Of course it’s ultimately your choice, and everybody’s experience differs...but it did help me.”
You considered everything he said, including his offer to help schedule an appointment. If nothing else, you could really use another friend... You pocketed the card and decided to worry about it later; exhaustion was starting to settle in by now, and the air only seemed to get colder by the minute. It had to be past midnight by now.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done. It means a lot to me, truly. I’ll...think about the therapist.”
“I’m glad to hear that. But in the mean time, can I see your phone?” The question caught you off guard and forced you back to the reality of where you were, and what you’d planned to do earlier.
“Uh, well...” you started, “I left it in my apartment. I didn’t think I’d need it up here since... Anyway, I don’t have it on me.” You stared off to the side, not wanting to talk about the subject any longer.
“Do you live around here?”
“Yeah, actually, I live in this apartment building.”
“Oh! Then, I’ll walk with you back to your apartment, since it’s getting kind of cold now. But first...” He whipped out his own phone, opening the contacts app and clicking on the ‘Create New Contact’ option. “What’s your phone number?”
“My phone number?” You stared at him, dumbfounded.
“Yeah, so I can text you and call you. I’d like to be friends, if that’s okay?” He gave you a shy smile with a faint blush, and it was hard not to burst into tears again.
A friend. You had made a new friend. One that cared about you, that wanted to make sure you were okay, that would put in time and effort to talk to you and see you. You could hardly believe it.
“Really?”
“Of course! Sooo, can I have it, then? Oh, and I guess I’ll need your name at some point too, huh?” he teased, a playful glint in his eyes.
“It’s Y/N,” you stated happily.
You immediately gave your number to him, and then the two of you stood to go back inside. He helped you up and held the door open for you, and from there you took the stairs back to your apartment. You made small talk on the way back, and things finally started to feel normal to you for once. But as soon as you turned down the hall that led to your apartment door, you started to feel it; that familiar sinking feeling was creeping in, apathy and the sense of nothingness overwhelming you again. The night was finally coming to an end. You would go back to your apartment, and things would go back to normal, and Deku would probably forget that you even existed. He said he would text, but would he really? He was so busy with hero work, and you half expected things to go back to the way they would be. What if nothing changed? What if you went back to feeling numb? What if everything that happened tonight didn’t really matter? What would you do?
“Whoah, Y/N, slow down. Everything’s gonna be alright.”
Huh? Shit! Had you said all that out loud?
You panicked as you stared at your door. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t-”
“Hey, look at me.” He cupped your face between his hands, tilting your head up to meet his concerned gaze. “Everything will be okay. But these kinds of problems don’t just disappear over night, they need time, and sometimes some outside help from others. I promise to keep in touch with you. I want to make sure you’re okay, and I’d like to get to know you better too. Maybe I can introduce you to my friends? They’re really great people, and they would make you feel right at home. But for now, let’s just focus on one thing, okay? Let’s get you settled back into your apartment for the night.” He ruffled the top of your head softly, and while others might have taken the gesture as offensive or belittling, you were just glad to have felt his warm touch.
“Okay,” you agreed quietly, and you twisted the handle to the door, which you remembered you had left unlocked.
The small apartment greeted you with familiar darkness, that is, until Deku flipped your light switch and the few lamps you had lit up the living room. He let himself in and shut the door behind the two of you, earning a surprised look from you and giving you an apologetic look of his own. “I don’t mean to intrude...I just...” He looked like he was choking over his own words. “I don’t think it’s a good idea to let you be alone right now...but if you want me to leave, then-”
“I don’t want to be alone either,” you were quick to cut him off. You had wanted to invite him to stay, but you also didn’t want to overstep any boundaries. However, it seemed like he beat you to the punch. “I don’t mind you staying. Besides, it’s late, and you look tired. The couch pulls out into a bed; let me get you some extra blankets.”
You tried your best to be hospitable, even with him insisting that you didn’t need to and that he could just crash in the comfy clothes he wore under his costume. You didn’t have any extra clothes for him, but at least you could give him a pillow and a blanket. As you went to fetch those, you also grabbed your phone from your desk and dropped it next to him on the makeshift bed. He took the liberty of entering his phone number and his real name into your contacts before passing it back.
“No way, you like All Might too?” he asked as you handed him the themed blanket. “This is the same exact blanket I have at home!” A wide grin came over him as he cuddled into it.
His enthusiasm made you laugh a little as you tossed him the pillow. “Yeah, I guess you could say that.” You started to walk away to your bedroom, and as you were about to turn the lights out, he stopped you.
“Hey, Y/N.”
“Did you need something?”
He peeked his head over the edge of the couch. “I just realized I never gave you my name. You can call me Izuku, if you want. Since, we’re friends now, and all.”
“Izuku,” you echoed, “I’m really glad I met you.” And you meant it.
“Yeah, me too.” A moment of silence. “That I met you, I mean! I’m glad I met you too!”
You smiled and turned the lights out. “I’m gonna head to bed.” You hesitated a bit to ask him the question burning at the back of your mind, but your anxiety forced you to ask anyway, the fear of not knowing eating at you. “Will you still be here tomorrow morning?”
He answered you right away and gave you a reassuring look. “I’m off work tomorrow, and I don’t have any plans, so I won’t be going anywhere unless you want me to.”
“Okay. Goodnight, Izuku.”
“Sweet dreams, Y/N.”
You let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding for so long, and with that, you made your way to your bedroom and changed into your favorite pajamas. The card that Izuku had given you earlier dropped to the floor while you were changing, and you picked it up carefully before reading it over again. Maybe...it was worth a shot. You had a lot you were dealing with, and the idea that you could talk to someone about it without being judged or made fun of almost sounded too good to be true. Sure, you had Izuku now, but you knew realistically he wasn’t going to be around all the time. You were tired of feeling like you were always alone, tired of feeling everything and nothing all at once, tired in general. It was all so exhausting. And he had said the therapist was nice...
You crawled into bed with your phone and pulled the covers over yourself. The home screen lit up the room as you opened your contacts and scrolled, looking for one name in particular. You tapped on his name and the familiar conversation screen appeared, the little vertical line blinking at you repeatedly as you worked up the courage to type out your message. Finally, your fingers flew across the keys, and you hit send before you could think twice about it.
Y/N: I think I want to schedule an appointment with the therapist. Can you help? 1:34am
It didn’t take long for you to get a response.
Izuku: Of course. I can contact them tomorrow, if you’d like? 1:34am
Y/N: I’d like that a lot. Thank you, Izuku. 1:35am
Izuku: Are you alright? If you need anything, come get me. I won’t mind. 1:35am
Y/N: I really appreciate that. I’m doing a little better. I’ll let you know if I need something. 1:35am
Izuku: Promise? 1:35am
Y/N: I promise. 1:36am

What did I walk in on?? Part 2
Kiribakudeku soulmate au
Part one HERE
Eijirou tried to work out the situation, he really did. From what Izuku and Katsuki would tell him, the two have known eachother since they were toddlers. He also knew that Izuku never looked him in the eye when he talked about Katsuki and Katsuki didn't seem to like Izuku.
All in all, it was a Mina-approved shitshow.
Without really knowing what to do, he tried to make friends. He unconsciously gravitated toward Katsuki, though, Izuku didn't really talk much and what he did say was nervous and second-guessing. By the end of the day, he had acquired a nickname from his soulmate. 'Shitty hair' wasn't exactly peak romantic but he guessed it was better than Deku, or maybe Deku had a good meaning, seeing as Uraraka started calling him that.
He started calling Katsuki 'Bakubro', and seeing as he wasn't exploded, he thought it was an acceptable nickname.
Day two was...interesting, to say te least.
Training was a heroes vs villains exercise, and Eijirou got a sinking feeling in his gut when he saw his two soulmate's names on opposite teams, pitted against eachother. He shifted uncomfortably at the glare Katsuki shot at Izuku before they went out of the observatory into their respective positions.
Katsuki was definitely bull-headish during the test, he completely ignored Iida and went straight to attack Izuku. Katsuki looked so pissed, his glare made half the students shiver, even through the screen.
It seemed Izuku had a plan, though. He was almost mesmerized as Izuku led Katsuki around like a bull tamer, flawlessly getting Uraraka to go for the real goal.
"HOW LONG?!" Katsuki snarled, slamming open the door to yet another room. "HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING ME?!" Izuku tripped a bit, catching himself but being cornered by Katsuki. "NO ONE JUST GETS A QUIRK AT 15!" He growled, a hostile look in his eyes as he poised his hands to fuel his explosions. And Katsuki swung at Izuku.
And Izuku grabbed him, flipping him in one fluid movement until he lied on his back, winded. Kirishima had to say, that was one of the manliest things he'd ever seen. The fight after that was brutal, and a small part of Eijirou was bothered by how Izuku barely reacted to the burns that were wracking up.
The grand finale left everyone speechless. The high-tech cameras perfectly capturing the horrendous third-degree burns and severe bruising on the boy's broken arms.
Katsuki looked about as terrified as Eijirou felt. Izuku was carried out in a stretcher on the second day of school.
A week had passed since then, and everyone was pretty much acting normally again. The only problem was that Eiji couldn't look his shorter soulmate in the eye. Every time he saw those wide green eyes all he thought was how easily he had broken himself over the most trivial training exercise. He had nightmares about Izuku dying trying to save people, which, from what little Eiji had come to know of his green-haired soulmate, would most likely actually be how he would die.
He went to his dorm (because srsly dorms should have been implemented earlier) and tried not to think about it too much.
He woke up at 2:32am to a knocking on his door. He quickly got out of his bed, opening the door to reveal a surprising head of sandy blonde hair. Katsuki's entire body was tense, his knuckles white and his hair covering his eyes, he just stood there.
"Bakubro?" He quickly whipped the sleep out of his eyes.
"We're soulmates." It was a statement, and Eiji simply nodded. "Deku's your soulmate too." The redhead pursed his lips a little. "Yeah, he's our soulmate." Katsuki tensed a little further.
"So you know how fucked up that was, during the training exercise a week ago." Eijirou sighed in relief, finally having someone say it out loud. "Yeah, how the hell did he get so tolerant to burns?" He asked, and Katsuki seemed to almost curl in on himself, before inviting himself in.
Eiji awkwardly shut the door before turning back to Katsuki, who was sitting on the floor leaning on the side of his bed. His eyes were still on the floor, and his knees were pulled toward himself.
"Do something." The blonde demanded weakly, his voice less sharp that Eiji had ever heard it in the week and a half he'd known him. "What should I do?" The redhead asked softly, trying to set up some boundaries before trying to comfort him.
"I don't fucking know!" He raised his voice, it was gravelly and he sounded like he was about ready to cry. "My parents are soulmates and my dad always helps mom when she's like this, so just work your soulmate magic or something!" His voice was cracking and he clutched his legs closer to himself. Eiji nodded and sat next to the blonde.
"I'm sorry, but I need to know what's wrong so I can try to fix it, bro." He said gently. Katsuki sniffled. "You know, if you didn't say 'bro' all the time, you'd soul just like the old man. It's weird." Eijirou let out a hum but didn't say anything.
"...deku." Katsuki growled, answering Eijirou's question and making him wilt a bit. He never did understand their relationship.
"He almost fucking listened to me, if it weren't for him-" he cut himself off, glaring at the floor like it was the wood's fault. "We've known eachother for as long as I can remember. The nerd followed me around like a lost puppy, and when we figured out we were soulmates..." he let out a small chuckle, a hollow one. "...we argued over who would wear the dress when we got married." Scarlet met crimson. "We decided on you wearing the dress."
Katsuki whent back to burning a hole into a spot on the ground with his eyes. "I'm a fucking idiot." He muttered. Eijirou would have argued, but he wanted to hear everything Katsuki had to say.
"I fell in a pond once, we were walking on a log to get over it and I fell. It hurt, all the gravel and shit, but the extras following me just laughed so I laughed with them." His knuckles turned white gripping his pants. "But deku, he fucking climbed down to the pod to make sure I was okay. I smacked his hand away, I thought he was looking down at me, so I yelled at him until he cried." He but his lip.
"He still followed me around though, looking at me like I was amazing even when I yelled at him, cussed him out, pushed him around, he'd always pick himself back up and start following me again."
"Middleschool and he was still following me sometimes, even though I'd kick the shit out of him if I saw him." Eiji couldn't help the sharp intake of breath. "I told him I hoped you were better than my other soulmate, and that he'd better not get in the way. Now deku can't even look at you without those big sad puppy eyes because I'm a fucking idiot." His voice got a little louder at the end.
"He always did everything I fucking said because piece of shit thought no one else would love him like he deserves!" He'd uncurled himself at this point, still glaring at the same spot on the floor. "I knew he did everything I told him, why did I tell him to swan dive off the fucking roof!!?!!!" He was yelling at this point, tears streaming down his clenched jaw and onto the floor. Eijirou was stunned into silence.
"He almost did it to, said so himself. But he didn't." The anger had fizzled into horse whimpers. "He didn't because I was fucking in trouble. If he didn't help me get that breath of air out of the slime fucker, I could have died, I would have died." His whole face was scrunched in so many different emotions before settling on anger.
"Then he gets a quirk a decade late?! Was he lying to me?! And then that bullshit during the training and he breaks both his arms for no fucking reason, like he's disposable." He gripps his hands into his already messy hair. "It's all my fault he's quiet and nervous and self-destructive, but here I am whining to the soulmate I tried to take from him."
Eijirou would process that truth bomb later, at that moment, Katsuki needed a hug and Eiji was but a humble supplier. He wrapped his arms around the blonde, and to his surprise, Katsuki melted immediately.
The blonde gripped onto the back of Eijirou's shirt and buried his face in his chest until he fell asleep from the emotional workout. Eiji, weak to cuddles, also fell asleep soon after.

Then, we were Strangers
So this is my first ever post on here! This is also my first My Hero fanfiction and I, of course, had to do it with my man Bakugou! I’m really sorry if this sucks-
Prompt: “And suddenly, we were strangers again.”
Paring: Bakugou Katsuki x Reader
Total Word Count: 1,732
Warnings: Swearing, mutual pining, angst, bullying, I didn’t edit this at all~
Day by day it was a growing struggle to watch Bakugou Katsuki grow up without you. It felt like more of a battle as he slowly left you behind like he did Izuku. Except, you weren’t quirkless… you helped Bakugou and his crew out (mostly his crew) when they got hurt considering your quirk was healing related.
Now you sat as you watched Bakugou torment Izuku once more. Muttering of “useless” and “worthless Deku” rolling off the tongue that had long grown bitter from its own sweetness. Sometimes you wondered what had gone and turned the boy that helped you from the ground when you were three to the seven year old that stood in front of you now. What had happened to the unbreakable bond between Bakugou and Izuku? What had changed other than the appearance and lack-there-of of a quirk?
That’s what had done it and you knew it as your seven year old self watched as Bakugou verbally tossed aside whatever Izuku had to say. “Katsu-” You called out only to be ignored by the boy you had grown up with. “Katsu we should go-”
“Shut up!” He growled at you as he sent you a spine-chilling glare. You nodded your head at him as he continued his torment on the ever compliant Izuku Midoriya.
~~Seven years later~~
14 year old Bakugou Katsuki was no better than the seven year old version of him. While some in the class had grown better and more refined it seemed as if Bakugou had only grown more rebellious. You had grown up with the boy and you knew that eventually, he would cut ties with you. Being the best came with a price after all…
“If you wanna be a hero so bad, why don’t you make it easier for yourself and take a swan dive off the roof? Maybe you’ll have a quirk in your next life!” An aggressive Bakugou Katskui said to a fragile, shaking green-haired boy. Your heart ached for Izuku but as much as you wanted to say something, you knew better. Bakugou, with a hearty laugh, left the room. You, as the good friend you were to the boy, followed.
As you left the artificially lit room you glanced behind you to Midoriya. Your eyes screaming “I’m sorry,” and swimming in sorrow. While his emerald eyes only held one question, “Why do you stay with him?” In truth, you had fallen for the boy long before you knew what love was. Every time you tried to walk away from him, your heart just pulled you back in for another load of heartbreak.
“Are you coming?” The gruff voice of Bakugou called out to you successfully pulling you from your questioning. “I don’t have all day you fucking nerd.”
Your eyes rise up to meet his vermillion ones as you say with the faux confidence you had around the arrogant boy, “Yeah. I’m coming, don’t worry.” You shook your head and followed the boy like you always had while wondering what he would be like to you if you were quirkless.
After the rest of the group had gone home Bakugou turned to you and asked with a hint of anger, “Are you still coming to my damned house?”
Your head tilted up as you replied, “If you want me too. I can always go home if you don’t want me over.”
Bakugou rolled his eyes while snorting out, “You hate your house. I don’t fucking mind if you come over you damn nerd.”
You smile slightly and continue walking in peaceful silence with the boy. “Bakugou?” You question hesitantly. When you catch sight of his eyes shifting to your face you continue, “If- if I was quirkless…” You take a breath in and spit out, “If I was quirkless would you treat me like Izuku?”
You swear you saw Bakugou's eyes almost pop out of his skull for a second. “Why does that matter? You aren’t fucking quirkless and you aren’t like that shitty nerd Deku.”
You sigh, “Well… I just wanted to know…” You cast your head to the ground as you hear Bakugou huff.
He groans when you don’t look up again. “Are you seriously-? Fine. I’ll answer your dumbass question. If you were quirkless, I wouldn’t treat you like that damn nerd.” His eyes tilt down to see that smile he had grown accustomed to slip back onto your face… and he puts on his own smile at the sight…
~~After Bakugou’s acceptance into UA~~
“I’m so happy for you Bakugou!” You congratulate with care in your eyes.
“Tch, whatever. I knew I was going to get in. I’m the best after all.” He says with an eye roll as you take the forms.
“You did the best on the entrance exams! That’s amazing Bakugou!” You exclaim with wide eyes. “It says here that you showed tactical understanding and excellent understanding of your quirk!” Your eyes come into contact with Bakugous and his heart aches for what’s going to happen between the two of you when he starts at UA and you don’t.
“Of course I did.” He boasts as he smirks. “Have to be a hero after all.” You smile while you agree with him and continue to read over the acceptance form.
“I’m really proud of you Katsu…” You mummer to him. His heart bangs against his ribcage at the old name slipping from your lips. Your eyes widen as you realize your mistake. You scramble out, “I- I’m sorry Bakugou! You told me not to call you that anymore! Shit, I’m so sorry.” You feel your face heat up as you internally punch yourself.
Bakugou snorts and your eyes shoot up to him. “It’s fine you fucking nerd. I don’t care as long as no other extra is around.” He waves off the nickname as his heart beats faster at the sight of your face. He should’ve dropped you a long time ago so it didn’t hurt as much as it did now. His mind is torn between what he wants and what he needs to do. He wants you as his but he knows that leaving you behind will let him achieve his dreams faster.
“Are you going to come sit with me or not?” You ask in the voice that makes Bakugou’s resolve for leaving you to crumble. Your eyes are innocent, unknowing of what Bakugou is going to force himself to do.
He grumbles out a “Yes,” and sits by you. You start ranting about anything you can think of and Bakugou is captivated by you in every way as you talk. Your presence is calming to him and he doesn’t want to let you go but he has to. “(Y/N),” Bakugou states forcefully.
You stop talking immediately at the use of your first name. “Yeah?” You question. “Do you not like what I’m talking about? We can talk about whatever you want. I don’t-” You don’t get to finish your ramble before Bakugou is cutting you off once again.
“(Y/N), I-” He clears his throat and continues, “I don’t think we can be friends anymore.” He looks away as he catches sight of your eyes breaking.
You look at him panicked and choke out, “Baku- Bakugou… Why? Am I being a bad friend? Are you upset with me? I- I‘ll do whatever. I- can’t- I can’t lose you too.” You put major emphasis on your final sentence as you feel tears build up. You couldn’t lose him. Not after everything you tow had been through. Not after all the years together.
“I just…” He stops as he looks for the right words to say. He doesn’t want to hurt you. “I just think that I’ll be best if we stop being friends. I don’t- I don’t need you anymore.” He internally grimaces as he can feel the pain rolling off of you. “I’m off to attend UA, I only wanted you around to keep my cuts clean. Now that I’m going on to better things, I don’t need you.”
“That’s- Your lying Katsuki. You don’t mean that. If I was just a toy for you to use then what about all the sleepovers? What about all the secrets? What about all the aspirations? What about the future we planned out? Did all of that mean nothing to you? Did I mean nothing to you?” You try to argue with the boy as tears stream down your face. You couldn’t believe that you meant nothing to him. Not after all the memories and years together.
Bakugou swallows the part of himself that wants to tell you he didn’t mean what he said. He wanted to tell you that he loved you but his pride wouldn’t allow it. “I mean it. You mean nothing to me anymore.” He stands and goes to your door. “You were just my pity project. Nothing more.” He goes to step out until he feels a scarily strong grip on his wrist.
“You promised- Katsuki Bakugou you promised you wouldn’t leave me. You can’t just walk out on me. Not after everything.” You begged him. You reminded him of a promise from long ago when he called you sweet nothings. A time before a strive to be a hero took him over. A time before he cared about being the best and only cared about being yours. Suddenly the ring hung around your neck that he had given to you all those years ago felt like a brick dragging you under the sea. “You promised me…” You plead to the boy.
He looks at you with an icy red glare and says, “Promises are meant to be broken.” With that, he walks out of your house, out of your life. He didn’t want to do it and some part of you knew that.
No matter how many miles were between you two, there would always be something there. As he walked away with silent tears starting to build up and you crying with an unmistakable pain in your chest, you both long for the other. As the tears spill from both of your eyes you both whisper together, “And suddenly, we were strangers again.” The next day though, you got a letter from UA. You had been accepted as a support student who worked with Recovery Girl and the students of the hero courses…

my fault, not yours. || bakugou katsuki
pairing : bakugou katsuki x f!werewolf!eventual villain!reader
genre : angst
words : about 1.3k.
tw : i tried to refrain from bad language as much as possible because i had to type this up on a school computer, so it might be slightly ooc. also hints of a dark past, suicide, supernatural being(s)?
please don't read if you're uncomfortable with anything listed above. other than that, i hope uou enjoy :)
their story began like this.
bakugou katsuki is one of, if not the most, noticeable students of ua's class 1-a. known for his explosive quirk and personality to match, it is no surprise that he has thrown some harsh words around that has hurt his peers.
(l/n) (y/n) was one of them.
as harsh as it may sound, she's considered fairly average for being in the top class of first years. (h/c) hair, (e/c) eyes, and a fit physique as is required of hero school students. her quirk, sound manipuation... a little overpowered in use. this was one of the reasons why bakugou picked on her. how heavily she relies on her quirk, how she tires easily during sparring. heck, even her chest size - everything was under the boy's scrutiny.
he's smart, sure. but there's a lot of things he didn't know.
he didn't know how she used over half of her energy, trying to contain her immense power to avoid injuring eveyrone around her. he didn't know what she was, who she was and he picked on her nonetheless. he didn't know what happened to her in the past, what her parents did to her. but above all, he didn't know that she loved him.
if he had, then perhaps all of this would have been prevented.
i'm so sorry.
a car swung through the air, nearly crashing into deku. seeing this, shouto quickly froze the vehicle seconds before it found its target. the green-haired pro-hero thanked his heterochromatic counterpart, the latter responding with a nod.
"we need to get this sorted out. siren is getting stronger by the minute, we have no time to lose."
"exactly, you idiots! get the pedestrians! i'm going after her!
"wait, but how do you know that siren's a female--"
before deku could finish his question, the male was already off with a bang - literally.
soaring overhead, ground zero could see above the cloud of smoke, making out the telltale rings of destruction and familar red waves radiating from a crater in the concrete below.
red, huh?
ceasing his explosions once he got close enough, bakugou sailed in through the gray clouds of debris and landed right behind the female figure in the center. he stood up, dusted his hands off, and stood still. everything was silent around them.
through the shadows, bakugou could see the furry ears on top of the female's head twitch. without turning around, she muttered a single word. no, name.
"katsuki."
with this one sound, the deceptive peace shattered around them, and immediately the two clashed in an explosion of red.
they were evenly matched; each blow would be countered with another from the opposing party. so the fight continued, as the world around them fell away, each person caught in their own chaos, fighting their own battle. the dark night skies glittered with bloodlust, flavored with smog, seasoned with uplifted earth. it was a dangerous kind of beauty. nostalgia.
regret.
she could remember those days, when she would be quietly pining after hiom, admiring his strength, ambition, looks. the days when, even if he were cruel to her, she would still remain by his side and love him through his scars. she remembered that day, when she had been planning to leave ua, but got caught by bakugou. terrified of the possibility of having her plans be revealed to the population of the school, she had shut him up with a kiss, and fled.
he remembered those days when he would not notice her except to shove her out of the way, intent on reaching his goal. but now that he did, he felt empty. as if something was missing. he had thrown away the one that thing he had been wanting all along. she had become so scarred that she could not love him anymore.
oh, how the tables have turned.
with another nitroglycerin explosion, bakugou managed to blast the villain onto the rooftop of the tallest building in the city. once he had also made his way onto the skycraper, he sized her up, feeling her do so to him as well. both were covered in cuts and bruises, clothes matted with blood and grime. neither budged from their spot, neither in a defensive stance. they were simply standing still, relaxed as if trusting that the other would not harm them. the irony was enough to make one laugh, if only this weren't such an unbefitting situation.
"katsuki."
"don't call me that."
he immediately snapped back, just like the old days.
like the old days.
siren chuckled. the hero could hear the melancholy fatigue in her voice. her laugh, once bright and happy, now dulled to a blank slate. and yet, her voice remained as beautiful as ever.
“bakugou.”
he kept his silence. taking this as a sign to continue, the girl sighed and took off her mask.
"it's been a while."
"so it has."
(l/n) smiled - it was a small, genuine smile, but it was weary.
"i'll get to the point, i suppose. i know that you know that i loved you."
this sentence took his breath away.
i didn't then... but i do now.
"i know you probably hate me."
shut up. i don't.
"so... i wanted to apologize."
"idiot, what are you apologizing for?!"
her smile dropped. "for loving you. for caring when you didn't want me to. for what i'm about to do - what i've wanted to do for years now, frankly. you told midoriya to take a swan dive off the roof... and while i'm not midoriya, i think you want me to fulfill that request just as badly--"
"i don't hate you! i never did, and i still don't."
the smile was back. "i'm glad."
"so don't do this!"
she shook her head. "katsuki..." she took a deep breath. "katsuki... i love you. and i know that it took a long time for you to come around and all but... trust me, if i could, i would come back. i would pretend like nothing happened and be myself again. i would come back... to be with you. but... things have changed. and maybe-- maybe if society were willing, i could prove how much i want that - to be normal - but it's not possible now, is it? once a villain, always a villain. the same couldn't be said for a wannabe hero, especially after all i've done. all that's happened to me and made me... do things i regret. i've done to much. i never really wanted this... i regret it all."
he swallowed, and seeing that he was going to interrupt, she shook her head and silenced him again.
"i don't want you to regret anything like i do. i know that you're going to say that my parents did this and i'm not at fault, but in all reality, i was the one who chose to solve my problems in this terrible way and i couldn't find someone to give me the help that i needed. above all, please never blame yourself for this. you wanted to be a hero, not to have a relationship with some girl with issues. and i respect that. there are much better people out there that are stronger than me, more beautiful and aren't burdened by things that could easily make them go insane and lash out... like me. because i don't want you to be in danger because of me. hurting you genuinely is the last thing i would ever wish to do. love someone that isn't a monster, like me. please. love someone... that isn't me."
"but i only want you! you can make it right again! it'll be okay! if you let them know, if you told them what happened... if you believed in yourself like i believe in you..." he sobbed.
"please, katsuki. if not for yourself... than for me."
the werewolf female watched as he crumbled, her heart aching with his. he could form no coherent words as he cried into his calloused palms.
the great ground zero, at the peak of his career with a right future, was slowly breaking down for a lowly, hybrid, villain.
"hey, katsuki." her calm voice was quiet, commanding almost. he felt compelled to look. sniffing, he raised his head.
with some difficulty, (y/n) mustered her brightest, happiest smile, reminding him of when she was still an innocent classmate of his. then, he remembered the day that she ran away, eventually proclaimed allegedly dead. that day, she had given him this same smile. he had to keep this secret for years, the knowledge of her departure tormenting him, knowing it was partially his fault that he didn't prevent her from leaving. and today, she gave him this beautiful, terrible smile once more.
he clambered to his feet, horror painting his face and his heart.
"i'm sorry."
"no, no, no, no--"
he was too late, she was already gone.
bakugou katsuki, one of if not the most, powerful of heroes. he's known for his easily distinguishable quirk, with a personality and looks to match.
(l/n) (y/n), a misfortunate soul, losing her life to the light of her life.
their story ended like this.

Hi!! So I’m a really big fan of both your quirkless!izuku fics and was wondering if you had any recommendations for similar stories? I dont have a preference for either villain or hero Izuku, or any particular pairing, I’m just looking for well written multi-chapter fix’s to see me through the apocalypse.
So, I have taken this ask as a challenge!
Quirkless Apocalypse (Over 50,000 words)
*WIP
Sorry most of these are WIPs, but I just went through my bookmarks and picked out some of my favorites.
Entropy*
Maybe it was All Might's betrayal that finally broke him. Maybe it was the torment from his friends, day in and day out, or the crushing weight of society's collective dismissal of his existence. The reason isn't important anymore- only the consequences. Two years after he and three other students vanished from U.A., Midoriya Izuku is the leader of the fastest-growing group of villains in Japan, and no one is left to stand in his way- no one aside from All Might's successor, the next Symbol of Peace.
All orderly systems descend into chaos. No one is immune to entropy, heroes least of all.
One of my favorite villain fics, basically Izuku becoming worse than the league of villains ever was.
Four Makes One Team*
“Kacchan,” Izuku said, getting the attention of the boy beside him. “What if I don’t want to be a hero?”
Izuku spoke as if he was setting the world on fire. As if he’d broken time in half and let the fabric of the universe collapse like a folding chair.
Katsuki twitched. “Then what else do you want to be?” There was a tinge of anger in Katsuki’s words, the hint of a shout tipping each consonant.
“Well,” Izuku scratched his neck, eyes locked on the stars attached to the ceiling that shown an odd neon yellow in the afternoon light. “Well, what if I wanted to help heroes or something instead.”
(Where Izuku decides he wants to be hero support, learns computer code, and digs way to deep into a villain case all for the sake of teamwork.)
Basically, Izuku and Katsuki meet some other canon characters as kids and basically become genius vigilantes.
Subject: A Comprehensive Report*
Izuku decides early on that heroics is not the only path to heroism.
I did not know that I needed parental Nighteye, but I definitely did.
Finding Abandoned Hope*
Nothing in life was fair. Some people just had more luck than others. Midoriya Izuku was not one of those people. He learned that the hard way.
Not everyone gets good quirks. Not every quirk is accepted by people. This was a cruel and unforgiving world and Shinso Hitoshi knew that quite well.
Together, maybe they can have the life they both want.
Runaways, Vigilantes, Dadzawa. What else could you ask for?
Ripples on Deep Water*
Midoriya Izuku didn’t expect much from life. He knew it expected everything of him, and he was always trying to rise up and meet that challenge.Except for one little mutation in his genes that made all the difference.Except for one little change in the route home after a pretty depressing day.Or:When All Might crushes Izuku’s dreams, he crosses the path of someone who rebuilds them. Izuku’s going to be a hero... even if it won’t be exactly as planned.Or:How the tiniest wingbeat of a butterfly over the still ocean brings tsunamis to distant lands.
Izuku meets Mei at the right moment and basically keeps his dream alive. Support!Deku with an eye toward the hero course.
Black Rabbit*
For most people, waking up in the secret base of one of Japan's most wanted vigilantes would probably be terrifying. For Shouto Todoroki it ends up being first stroke of luck he's ever had. Black Rabbit is nothing like the rumors and ends up being his first real friend. For once in his life Todoroki feels like someone actually cares about and supports him, Black rabbit going as far as to get him a new identity so he wouldn't have to go back to Endeavor. It also helps that, on top of being the embodiment of sunshine personality wise, under the mask Black Rabbit is the gosh darn cutest boy Todoroki has ever laid eyes on.
Izuku Midoriya is the vigilante known as Black Rabbit. Pros all over Japan have tried to catch him but all have failed. Nothing is known about him and he's been doing this for years, living in his secret base alone. He never had a friend until he rescued Todoroki. It's a relief and a blessing to finally have someone who knows him out of the mask and likes him as a person. There's a personal connection and closeness between them that he's never had before and he'll follow it as far as it takes him.
Now if they can only keep their respective identities a secret while attending UA
Vigilante!Deku with a healthy helping of Dadzawa and some sweet TodoDeku on the side.
Who said the only thing green about him is his hair?*
All Might isn't able to get away from the reporters after saving Bakugou and Midoriya during the sludge incident.
Midoriya Izuku, without motivation, Bakugou's words of suicide ringing through his head. He makes a decision, something that wouldn't ruin Bakuguou's chances of becoming a hero, something where he could get away from everything that was hurting.
Izuku decides to run away. Impulsive and hasty, desperate and in shock, he decides that running away and surviving would hurt less than any other option when reality hits him full force.
Runaway!Deku, enough said.
Swan Dive*
The Slime Villain Incident, and the events leading up to it happen one year earlier. Izuku, broken and lost in the face of All Might's words, decides to take Kacchan's advice. But a familiar Underground Hero won't let a young life end so quickly. How will a simple right-place-right time scenario change things?
OR:
Aizawa Shouta saves the life of Midoriya Izuku and finds himself with a new apprentice and surrounded by a quickly growing family circle. What has he gotten himself into? Heavy Dadzawa and Dadmic. Auntie Nemuri and eventual redeemed Bakugo.
The sweetness! The trauma! This fic will definitely punch you in the heart in more ways than one.
I’m Here*
What if All Might never dropped that bottle...? There was never a chance to prove himself. Midoriya never became a hero. Take a dive off the roof of the building, that's what Bakugo wanted, right? But a stranger stops him and gives him a new dream for the future. A boy's descent into madness and obsession but not without finding a family amongst a number of misfits. To kill some major league heroes. It's all they want to do and change society. What's the cost?
Insane!Villain!Deku. Literal chills, seriously. It definatly gets dark, so be ready for that. Also the league of villains as family and obsessive TodoDeku.
I’m Doing This For Them*
Izuku always wanted to be a hero, but without a quirk almost everyone he met said that was impossible, but Izuku's stubborn and he never took no for an answer. So he decides to take his dream into his own hands and do the impossible. Even if he can't legally become a hero what's to stop him from doing it illegally?
A lie-detecting detective, a purple-haired kid, and an insomniac pro hero, that's who.
Or
Izuku decides to try his luck at becoming a vigilante and subsequently annoys the shit out of everyone he meets.
Sassy Viligante!Deku, EraserMic with Shinso, basically so much family!
The Yakuza isn’t that bad*
After Izuku was told by his idol that he can't be a hero without a quirk, he realized something. This world, where the quirked do whatever they want, and the quirkless are treated as less than human, is flawed. And what better way to repair a flawed world than returning it to when it wasn't?
Do you want Mafia!Deku? Very unique fic about Izuku taking over Overhaul’s operation (don’t worry about Eri, she’ll be fine) and pursuing a quirkless world.
Independence*
All Might is the number one hero, and has a beautiful wife, they are a beautiful, loving family. What no one knows is they have a quirkless son. When telling he him he can’t be a hero, Midoriya Izuku takes fate into his own hands, and tries to warn his parents he isn’t going to listen is the silliest of ways. He is still planning to be the best hero, even if he has to tear apart the society norms around him.
Bad bio-dadmight. Izuku is basically running on sheer spite at this point and it’s working.
Nii-Chan! Nii-Chan!*
Aizawa Shouta is a teen who lives by the rules of logic and rationality, in his second year of Yuuei. When his parents kick him out when discovering he has a boyfriend, he finds himself alone on the street.
Midoriya Inko lives in a small flat with her young and only son after her ex-husband ran learning she was pregnant. With Mother and Son sharing a huge heart with un-measurable amounts of love, they find and help Aizawa.
With a new Mom and a little Brother, Aizawa finally has a family to be proud of.
How much found family can we incorporate into one story? The answer is a lot more than you’d think. Basically once Izuku adopts someone, they are family. Lots of fluff.
Erased Potential*
Midoriya Izuku, determined to become a hero before ever meeting All Might, looks for another way. He might not have a quirk, but that can’t be all that being a hero is about. He has the intelligence, the drive, the determination. All he needs now is to know how to use it. Enter Aizawa Shouta.
Pretty much my favorite Dadzawa fic.
Net Neutrality (series)
I feel like this should be included even if each fic isn’t over 50,000 words. Info Broker!Deku and Vigilante!Deku with Eri getting the love she deserves. This inspired some parts of Mastermind, actually.
One-Choice: Vigilante*
Time is a funny thing, the way even a single choice can change the world forever. Every single choice can turn the course of fate in unexpected directions.
Midoriya Izuku always wanted to be a hero. Ever since he was a child, he wanted to be someone who saves other with a fearless smile. But when his world comes crashing down around him, when even the tiniest spark of hope is crashed, what would he do?
This entire series is really good. It’s basically another take on what I’m doing with my For the Want of a Nail series.
Secondary Colors*
"You got pushed down the stairs... and you're apologizing for it," he stated blandly. "That seems counterintuitive.""Um... sorry?" Izuku whispered. He was starting to shake a little, adrenaline flooding his veins and leaving him cold. He had no idea what Purple was going for with his blunt statements and the hand reaching toward his shoulder as if to steady him, but apologizing was generally safe."You don't have to apologize, dude. I don't know your name, but I doubt it's actually Deku.""Um. Midoriya." Izuku peered sideways at Purple as they rounded the corner. "Izuku Midoriya. Deku is just, um, just what my... friends call me." He winced."Sounds real friendly."
Izuku and Shinso are best friends with a lot of Dadzawa and Dadmic.
Pied Piper*
If they wouldn’t give him a chance then the solution seemed simple, he’d give himself one. He’d force the world to see him, force them to recognize his hard work. He wasn’t missing a quirk, it was simply that everyone else had been given an advantage. He wasn’t broken, or useless, or incapable, and he’d prove it by outrunning all of them, he who was quirkless, he who had started in last.
One of my favorite Vigilante!Deku fics, hands down. Izuku is an absolute mad lad in this.
We Don’t Need No Fuckin’ Heroes*
Almost half a year before Izuku's fated meeting with the Slime Villain, our protagonist finds himself running away from his fears. But instead of letting his fears overtake him and drag him back down to the darkness where they think he belongs, he finds friendship in the most unusual places and with the help of his friends they all claw their way up into the light where they want to be and where they truly belong.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if Izuku met Dabi and Toga before they could join the league of villains? Amazing Vigilante!Deku
Detective Midoriya*
After the sludge incident, Izuku Midoriya's dream was officially crushed. However, a later experience takes the boy in a new direction. Izuku had never really contemplated being a detective, but his whole life he'd only ever wanted to help people with a smile on his face. Thanks to some luck and an entire police station, Izuku's dream is reborn.
Izuku joins the police force and basically proves that he’s as amazing as we all know he is.
There is No Such Thing as Competely Forgiven
Deku doesn't become a hero, though he might be considered one to people that have been rejected by society. He can be petty, twisted, and is loyal to a fault. That hardly makes him evil. No, he just knows the worlds got to change and he can't do that from a side that praises people like Bakagou Katsuki and All Might. He also would love nothing better than to get even with a few people that ruined his life...
Katsuki knows that he is the reason that Deku is dead. He just can hope one day he can forgive himself and that others can as well for the role he played in it. He needs to make the world a better place, one that Izuku would have wanted. He needs to be a hero that does more than punch villains in the face. But its really hard to be a needed change when he can't trust most of his own decisions are the right ones.
One of my favorite villian!Deku fics of all time, mostly because of the found family stuff it’s got going on with the league. It’s also got a sequel if you want more.
A Deadman’s Gun
“I—“ Izuku hesitated, gaping wordlessly, before admitting softly. “I don’t know. I just don’t want to go home. There’s nothing for me, there.”
“So you filled this hole by playing detective— And how long is that going to last, I wonder?” Stain replied, still massaging his chin. “But you— You have potential.”
Izuku blinked at Stain’s chest, before looking up. “Excuse me?”
“What a waste would it be, to let you become a red splatter on the sidewalk.” Stain continued, almost contemplating. “No. No, kid, what you need is a new purpose. Your old one is gone? Well, time to get off your ass and find something else—“
Ok, there need to be more parental Stain fics in this fandom, because this is absolutely amazing!
Hero Class Civil Warfare
Heroes lead by Bakugo.Villains lead by Midoriya.Seven days prep time.Three days for Izuku Midoriya to show why they should be glad he's not a real villain.
Ok! Ok! I know this isn’t Quirkless!Deku but I have to include it because it’s a classic and it’s pretty similar to my fics, so I know you’ll love it anyway. It focuses on Izuku’s intelligence rather than his quirk.

not an anti your anti-anti post got popular so i wanted to know why u ship bkdk? i'm genuinely curious bc i;ve only seen ppl say it's abusive and i'm new to mha
first of all anon thank you for approaching me respectfully about this. there are a lot of people i know who aren’t as lucky but really, thank you for possessing the basic human decency that so many others on this fucking hellsite can’t muster.
now, first of all let me say that i’m not a “““hardcore shipper””” or anything of the sort. i just think that bakudeku/katsudeku has a pretty good dynamic with lots of potential, along with a lot of other plausible ships in the series. i don’t get into a series for its ships, and even when i ship something i won’t let it take over my experience of fandom, which is why i’m def posting less bnha and ship discourse. this’ll probably be my last post about it, ever.
now, about bakudeku.
on bkdk being abusive:
it is not.
i first want to clarify that while bakugou bullied midoriya in the past, that doesn’t fucking make it abuse. i know abusers, and i know bullies. bakugou was shitty, and i’m not excusing his actions or saying they were okay because they were fucking not. most antis get all their fuel with the line “take a swan dive from the roof” that bakugou says to midoriya in the first chapter.
did he actually mean it? did bakugou, a boy who was told all his life he would be a hero, who wanted to be a hero, say it with the intent of midoriya actually killing himself? no, he didn’t. it would go against everything a hero stood for, and being a hero was bakugou’s only aspiration in his life. unless anyone is iterating that he’s stupid (which canon proves otherwise almost constantly) he knew that when he said it, midoriya wouldn’t do it.
(and while it is important to note that horikoshi has explicitly said that he went too far with that line, as it is not how bakugou should be seen and/or characterised, i’m still treating it as canon because it is, antis don’t @ me.)
and, as midoriya makes very clear later, he has absolutely no intention of taking bakugou’s words seriously. instead, he brushes it off as ‘kacchan being a proud idiot who doesn’t think before he speaks’. however, while he did not take those words seriously, that doesn’t mean they didn’t hurt even a little. his expression when bakugou says it is hurt, but more than that, shocked. obviously, anyone with a brain can infer that it is not something midoriya is accustomed to hearing things like that from bakugou. if it had been a regular occurrence, his reaction would have been a lot more subdued as he would have heard it before and therefore expected it.
even if you look at the scene later on, bakugou does not go out of his way to target or even interact with midoriya up until their teacher brings up the fact that midoriya wants to go to ua. bakugou does not see midoriya as “his old friend” or “the kid who he grew up with”. what he sees is “a quirkless kid who can’t do anything is trying to get in his alley, the one that everyone told him was handcrafted for him”. is he right? absolutely fucking not. does he realise this? again, no. this all leads to bakugou having a major gifted kid + inferiority complex, but i digress.
(i feel like it’s necessary to say once again that i am not condoning bakugou’s behaviour just because he didn’t really intend for midoriya to commit suicide or midoriya didn’t take it seriously, or saying that it’s okay if nothing happened.)
anyway, back on topic. later during the final exams arc, midoriya also states explicitly that he and bakugou have not talked properly to one another since they were kids. this makes it clear that bakugou did not, in fact, ceaselessly torment midoriya throughout their elementary school/junior high years. they just didn’t interact, plain and simple. the experience shown on the playground when they were four and the one after school on this day were likely two of very few, perhaps ten at most, incidents in which bakugou and midoriya’s difference in power and therefore status was made clear to show what it means to be quirkless in this society.
(i’d like to talk about how fucking messed up this society is, but that’s a whole other can of worms.)
bakugou has been a bully to midoriya. has he been abusive? absolutely fucking not. do i think their relationship is repairable? yes. i’ve been bullied before. i know what it’s like when you can reconcile with your bully and when you can’t. this is very clearly something that can be salvaged.
on their canon relationship:
do i think of bakudeku as a “he pulled your pigtails because he likes you” situation? am i infatuated with the ever-popular childhood friend trope? not a chance, and dismissing any shipper’s evaluation of their relationship to that is fucking low.
let’s start with their relationship at the beginning. bakugou harbours obvious animosity towards midoriya, and the only reason appears to be that it was because he was quirkless. (again, fuck quirk society) bakugou had always been told he was superior, and midoriya had always been told that he was nothing without a quirk. when you’re a young and impressionable child, having these things said to you a lot will make you believe it. in a sense, it’s akin to brainwashing. bakugou was made to believe that midoriya was worthless in comparison to him, a natural-born hero, and midoriya was made to believe that bakugou was amazing and undefeatable.
there were a lot of ways it could have turned out, honestly. midoriya could have become someone bakugou saw as someone needing protecting, and as cliched as their relationship would have been were that the case, it would have been the only ““functional”” one they could have had. hence the dysfunction, because midoriya is not someone who can sit back and take hits. he wants to be a hero, which is half the reason he admired bakugou in the first place.
so in the beginning of canon when midoriya’s desire to go to ua to be a hero is made known, bakugou, as i said before, feels as though his space has been invaded. he’s marked his territory, and all of a sudden this quirkless nobody i used to know wants to take it from me. of course, his way of thinking is wrong, but he’s never been corrected properly (sorry mitsuki, i love you but you’re not good at parenting, and masaru, please do something about your emotionally constipated son).
bakugou’s reaction to midoriya saying he “just wants to try” makes it look like it was just a trivial matter for midoriya, as opposed to bakugou, who has been working towards wanting to become a hero since he was small (as opposed to midoriya who wanted to as well, yes, but never did anything being analysing the heroes for fun). he feels as though midoriya is going through it with a ‘meh’ attitude, which deeply offended by the sentiment and takes it personally.
so bakugou obviously hates it. he hates feeling like someone that was, in his words, “a pebble in [his] path” could possibly even fathom overtaking him, when they were compared all the time.
additionally, midoriya has been a part of bakugou’s ego fodder. he followed him around, praised him like the rest, yes, but it’s very important to note that even though midoriya showered bakugou with praise he still talked to him as though he would someday be on that same level, even as a kid.
they were kids. they were dumb. but you know what? they grew.
bakugou especially has gone through so much development, even comparing him to the piece of shit he was in chapter 1 is a huge insult to bakugou, to horikoshi, and to midoriya, who has played an enormous part in it, especially after the sludge villain when it is very explicitly stated that bakugou didn’t even interact with midoriya until
in the beginning of their first year at ua, bakugou learned for the first time what it meant to have people who were equal to him, that he wasn’t as exceptional as he thought. midoriya, too learned what it meant to stand as equals, but instead of falling from a platform above, he was thrown up from the ground. and during the battle trial, bakugou tasted bitter defeat for the first time, and it shook him to the point where he had a panic attack in class (which i’m disappointed all might didn’t notice, but i digress) upon seeing midoriya get k.o.-ed but still win while he was left unscathed physically, and lost to deku of all people.
do i think their dynamic from the beginning of the year would have worked as a ship? no, abso-fucking-lutely not. bakugou feels nothing but betrayal (as in, he would obviously believe midoriya was hiding his quirk from him and lying to him their whole lives) and hatred for midoriya up until the battle trial, after which he doesn’t respect or even accept midoriya, but he acknowledges him because he beat him and then admitted half the secret to his quirk.
their relationship is an absolute shitshow for a long time and it shows, but the battle trial was a huge part in the beginning of their relationship developing. and of course, it has to – midoriya is the protagonist and bakugou is the deuteragonist, after all.
but the real turning point where bakugou comes to grudgingly accept midoriya is during their final exams before the training camp, where they went up against all might. being forced to work together and for bakugou to have to listen to midoriya really showed us depth in him we hadn’t seen before. sadly, all might was absolutely no help in their teamwork (despite that being the entire reason aizawa had paired bakugou and midoriya together) and instead made them try to focus on defeating him rather than working together, but somehow, that got the two of them to cooperate in battle.
(personally, i believe that they would have been better matched against a more strategic teacher like aizawa or nedzu as they would be forced to come up with a strategy together, and all might provided an unrealistic situation for them overall and the entire fight makes absolutely little to no use of their intelligence, something that is canonically a prevalent strength for both of them.)
but honestly, after kacchan vs deku 2, where they finally become ““proper rivals”” according to all might, where they both finally, finally talk out their issues and try to patch their shit up. @dekatsu explains it really well here and i’ve rambled for long enough about it.
now, after that fight, they’re both at a point where instead of being at each other’s throats, they’re pushing each other forward, and that’s why i like them together so much, whether platonic or romantic. which brings me to...
what i like about bkdk
aka, the thing you asked me in the first place.
do i approve of their relationship before kacchan vs deku 2? no. but after the fight, it blossoms into something absolutely brilliant. while they’re on their house arrest in the days after their fight, midoriya asks bakugou about his shoot style, and bakugou tells him exactly what he thinks and how it can be improved. and he admits, however backwardly, that he approved of it.
from literally that moment on, their communication and relationship develops so so much (not getting into the later arcs because manga spoilers) and bakugou becomes a huge part of the “one for all” secret, and every. single. time he sees midoriya use it, he encourages him in his competitive way and he does want to make sure he sees deku become a great hero, dammit.
relationships where both parties push each other to do better always seem to be the ones that work best. bakugou is constantly striving now not just to better himself, but he’s making sure that midoriya is getting better too. the more the story progresses, the closer they grow.
we’re at a point where bakugou sits in on midoriya’s meetings with all might about one for all and its technicalities and history, and is willing to train separately with midoriya because of it. they don’t have any problems with each other now -- even all might has properly acknowledged bakugou and midoriya as great friends.
it’s indisputable.
and whether you ship it or not, now if you deny that they have a bond that’s strong as fuck, you’re only making yourself look silly.
platonic or romantic, these two have chemistry and they complement each other so well that it almost hurts. i can’t wait to see them grow into a hero duo.
. . .
anyway, that’s the end of my 2k+ word long meta (which i honestly wouldn’t have been able to complete without the help of a tumblr friend who would like to stay anonymous) and i hope it answers your question and hopefully, it showed you a side of things that not only the antis are seeing. thanx, this is been my last ship discourse post.

A Broken love: Chapter 1
Paring: Todoroki shouto X Midoriya izuku
Summary: Everyone is born with a soulmate. Your ability to feel your soulmates pain and vice-versa. You're also able to talk to your soulmate through ink on the skin. Izuku had 2 soulmates he never asked for, and was bullied because of it. It's not like he had a choice...
Warnings: Mentions of suicide and self harm.
Everyone is born with a soulmate. You are able to connect with your soulmate through ink on the skin. You're able to feel each others pain. Izuku was often bullied for having multiple soul mates. It's not like he had a choice.
“A quirkless loser like you doesn't deserve a soulmate, let alone two,” Bakugou said as he brought a crackling fist down on Midoriya chest "I can't believe that two people have to deal with a useless person like you!" Bakugou struck Midoriya dead in the face.
"Kacchan stop!!" Midoriya cried as bakugou continued to deliver painful punches to midoriya's already frail body. It seemed like forever before the blond and his goons finally stopped and left. After ten minutes Midoriya eventually got up and started walking home.
When he got home his mother was on the couch watching tv "Oh hello dear" Inko said looking over to Midoriya. While his mother tried her best, she didn't really care about her son. She was never worried about the burns or bruises on his body. Never cared enough to stop the bullies, or to tell him that he would be ok. No, she would just sit there and smile. "Dinner's almost ready, go sit at the table, "Inko said as she got up and walked to the kitchen. Midoriya and Inko sat down at the dinner table as she serves the food
“I'm not sure if you should talk to your soul mates anymore.” Midoriya stared at the woman in front of him. It was his mother, Inko Midoriya, who had just told him not to contact the only people who cared for and loved him.
“What, why?!” Midoriya shouted, rising from his seat.
“Because two is way more than needed," Inko said softly, eyes focusing on her stressed son.
"Mom they're my soulmates! I can't just ignore them!" Midoriya yelled, throwing his hands in the air.
" Now you listen here young man," Inko stood up grabbing her son by the arm " You will not talk to these soul mates from now on. Do you understand?" Midoriya tore his arm away from his mother, tears brimming his eyes.
"Whatever." He mumbled before stomping off to his room, slamming and locking the door. Midoriya stared up at the ceiling as he flopped onto his bed, angry tears flowing freely. 'What am I going to do now?' he thought. Without his soul mate, how would he ever feel happy? They were the only ones in this cruel world that loved him! More tears made their way down his face as he began to silently cry. He looked at his arm to see the words that were written by his soul mates.
'I'm in so much pain, are you guys ok?' Was written in icy blue ink. 'My chest hurts'. Was followed by purple ink. Midoriya's frown deepened as he realized he would never have fun happy life.' Green?' Midoriya wanted so badly to respond, but he knew better than to disobey his mother. Midoriya got up and grabbed some bandages from his closet. He then swiftly wraps his arms up. With a sigh, he flopped down onto his bed. Out of sight out of mind, right? Yeah, if he can't see what they're saying, then he won't have to worry anymore then he has to. Why did he have to be so unlucky, why? He just wanted to be happy and now he can't even be with the loves of his life? This was so unfair, why couldn't he have anything good in his life? No quirk and now no soul mates?
Midoriya soon fell into depression. Midoriya was constantly bullied by Bakugou, who had become angrier if that was possible. It was always painful. He had no one to help him through it. He would often go home and cry himself to sleep. He wouldn't eat for days on end, becoming even more frail and thin. It didn't help that neither his teachers nor his mothers ever cared about his well being, and the kids at school seemed to feed off his sadness.
It was agonizing. He had no way to stop the pain, that was until he discovered cutting. To him, it was the most amazing thing. He caused the hurt, he controlled it. It made him feel powerful and happier. It didn't stop the horrible thoughts or the self-hatred, but he felt lighter and fuller.
One day midoriya decided to check his arm, just to see how his soulmates were fairing. 'Hitsohi, I'm scared. I miss green, I want them to be okay, it hurts' ' I know, don't worry, we'll find them soon' He looked away as he immediately wrapped his arms. Hope. He didn't need hope. It only got him hurt in the end. He sighed, laying down and going to sleep.
One day bakugou had found out Midoriya was going to enroll in ua. To say he was angry was an understatement, he was furious. Midoriya was trying to pack his things when Bakugou grabbed his book out of his hands. "Hey, that's mine, give it back" Midoriya tried to get his hero notebook.
"No fucking way you useless shit." Bakugou then took the book in between his hands and exploded it.
"Noo!" Midoriya screamed in despair as his book was destroyed. Bakugou proceeded to throw the book out the window behind him, electing another strangled scream from the greenett. Bakugou grabbed Midoriya and threw him to the ground.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing thinking you could ever go to ua, useless deku" Bakugou half yelled, small explosions spewing from his hands.
"Kacchan wait! Please!" Midoriya whined, scampering backwards until his back hit the wall.
" You listen here you little shit, I'm going to be the first and only one to go to ua from this school, and you're not going to get in my way. Not that you could since your just a quirkless deku." Bakugou grabs him by the shirt "Now why do you do both of us a favor and not apply?" Bakugou said as he put a hand on Midoriya's shoulder, smoke coming out as he burned his shoulder. Bakugou took his hands away and made his way to the door. Midoriya stayed Facing the window
"Ya know, there's a quick way to get a quirk" Midoriya turned around to stare at him with confusion "Take a swan dive off the roof and pray you'll have a quirk in your next life" Bakugou waves as he leaves the classroom. Midoriya stares at the empty space the blond was standing.' Jump of the roof?' He thought as he slowly grabbed his bag and made his way out of the classroom. His feet led him on autopilot until he reached the roof…...
'I'm sorry' he thought as he grabbed a green pen from his bag
Todoroki sat in the kitchen with his sister, idly watching her prepare food. It'd been a calm day, just normal school things. That was until he felt a burning on his shoulder. He hissed, rubbing his shoulder in an attempt to relieve the pain. Fuyumi stopped what she was doing and quickly got an ice pack, already knowing what to do. Shouto accepted it and gingerly placed it on his shoulder. He felt scratching on his arms, follower by 'I'm sorry if I hurt you, cat issues' in purple ink on his skin.
A different colored ink appeared on his skin, one he hadn't seen in years. It read two simple words. 'I'm sorry' Shouto didn't understand. Was he sorry for ignoring them for years? He stood to grab his pen, but immediately collapsed, pain shooting through his entire body. He screamed out in agony, writhing on the ground. He opened his eyes, and through the tears, he saw his mangled limbs, bent at odd angles.
He sobbed, vision swimming with pain as blood soaked his clothes. He heard his sister's screams and felt her touch on his skin. Frost coated his limbs as they slowly began to heal. He felt his vision blackout, then back in as he tried to calm himself. But the only thing on his mind besides the pain was his soulmate whom he hadn't heard from in years. Had he finally done it? Had he finally ended his life? That thought alone hurt more than the blood running down his face from hisplitit skull. He passed out soon, the pain becoming too much for him.
-
When he woke again, he was in his room, a warm cloth draped over his forehead. He blinked, bleary. He looked down to his bandaged arms. They were tented a red color. He was unable to see His arms, meaning he couldn't talk to his soulmates. He sat up quickly, moving to grab a pen on his bedside. But before he could more pain radiated through his skull and he couldn't help but cry out again. Fuyumi came in quickly, gasping and pushing him to lay back down. "Shouto! You need to stay down" Shouto shook his head, making the pain worse.
"N-no!" he groaned, weakly fighting against her hold. "I need to talk to them." Fuyumi stopped, just staring at him with a somber look in her eyes, before shaking her head.
"You can't," said sadly, her grip tightening. "Please just lay down"
"W-why? I need to know their okay, if not green, At lease Hitoshi. I have to Fuyumi. p-please." tears filled his eyes. He needed to know they were okay, they were alive and breathing. His voice was weak and heavy. "The first time in years he says anything to me and now this. Fuyumi-"
"Shouto!" Fuyumi had tears running down her face as she fought to keep her voice level. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Your skull, it was cracked," She held her stare, letting him guess. His eyes searched her face, begging that she wasn't implying what he thought she was. " Shouto it's still there. I think- i... Shouto they're gone......"
Shouto was unable to speak. He couldn't make a single noise. He couldn't believe it. Why? Why did it have to end like this? His goals were because of him. He wanted he become a hero so he could save him. " H-how do you know?"
"Sho....." Fuyumi breathed, resting a hand on his face. "If you get a scar from your soulmate and it doesn't fade, it means they've died and you're stuck with the scare. Shouto i-"
"What they just flatlined, what if they were dead, and are okay. What then?" He blurted out. Hope, he had to hope. Even if he had Hitoshi still, he couldn't live with the death of his soulmate. Fuyumi paused, furrowed her brow, then sighed.
"I don't know... but from what I've heard, it'll last for a few days, then disappear." Shouto's lip quivered.
"C-can I see it? please?" Fuyumi nodded slowly moving off of him. He sat back up, Slowly, and stood. He slowly walked into the bathroom. A thick, choking, silence fell over the house as Shouto stared into the mirror.
Shouto's god-awful scream ripped through the silence. He screamed and screamed as he dropped to his knees, still looking at his reflection. A bloody bandage covered his head, blood still soaking the bandage. His trembling hands moved to remove it. He sobbed harder as his hands made contact with the warm, sticky bandages. When they finally came off and spooled around his broken frame, he was quiet. He couldn't scream, there was bile in his throat.
Shouto couldn't tear his eyes from the mirror. He weakly crawled over to the toilet as he wreaked, letting out what little food he ate. When there was no more food to puke he just dry heaved, blood trickling past his lips. Fuyumi gripped his shoulders as he shook. When he was finally done he leaned back, falling into her arms. He was losing blood again, and his vision began to swim. The last thing he heard was his sister's sad voice.
"I'm sorry

what? you think i’m gonna stand here and take it?
note: my fic for @bnhaflashbang! this has an accompanying art by @thefacade-23 which you can find here!
ao3 link!
When Izuku writes, he uses green ink.
It’s been that way since he was very young; because green ink is the only thing that he has ever asked of his mother. The parchment he uses is often old, wrinkled in places as though haphazardly stuffed into his pants pocket, though nonetheless still useful for writing.
He keeps it secret. Even Inko doesn’t know— will never know.
She assumes he writes in his little notebooks, filled to the brim with ideas of magic; of how to use magic, of what types of magic he’s encountered.
The habit to write died when Izuku met Yagi-sensei; when his worldview changed from never to one day. But, today, as his body succumbs to exhaustion, as he’s watching the waves hitting the cliff where his home stood, the itch to write springs anew again.
He has clean parchment, folded neatly between his books. He has a glass bottle, one that his mother would’ve given to the children in town had he not taken it from the kitchen sink. He has his writing quill, ink pooling at the tip, ready for use.
Still, Izuku’s brain is running a million miles a minute. How can he phrase his thoughts into something resembling coherency?
He remembers all the things he’s written in the past— Kacchan, magic, why did he not get any— and he hesitates. Something foreign settles between his smile, tired and defeated yet proud all the same.
.
Why does magic exist?
.
Izuku is a little surprised, to be honest.
One assumes that a glass bottle with a letter inside would get no replies. The odds of it are even less than him acquiring magic.
(That he has, his giddy thoughts tell him.)
And now, despite the odds, there is a bottle resting at the soles of his feet, folded parchment in his hands.
The name “Shoto” sounds otherworldly to him. Burning and freezing ring the crevices of his brain, reading the characters written neatly on the page. His head is telling him to ignore it and move on, an insistent chatter as Izuku rereads the simple line:
It exists to shelter people.
Signed, Shoto
.
Shelter people from what? The world has always been dangerous so I guess magic helps in that regard. But isn’t that why there are heroes out there to save everyone?
Izuku can seal his message with magic now. He grins.
Signed, Deku
.
That’s how it starts, really.
.
Heroes are one thing but it’s through one’s magic that a person can hide their true self.
Signed, Shoto
.
If that’s the case, it’s not magic to be blamed for that, but the person who’s using it.
.
If that’s how you see it, then that’s how you see it.
.
It’s not like I’ve really known magic all my life. It’s funny if you think about it! I’m still adjusting to everything my teacher taught me.
.
You talk as if you’re only now realizing the weight magic has.
.
What I meant was that a person is responsible for their magic! You would condemn it when it’s how someone uses it that matters?
.
That’s not what I said.
.
Ah. Sorry about that.
.
It’s alright.
.
Izuku fumbles as he reads the missives. Shoto is a peculiar person, and Izuku’s delighted to talk to them.
Even though an overwhelming awkwardness consumes their words to each other, the conversation continues.
They move on to a variety of topics. Shoto writes about his mother and siblings, even though Izuku feels like there’s something unassuming beneath his words. Meanwhile, Izuku shares his thoughts on magic, though he refrains from implying anything, as well as home life with his teacher and mother.
The seasons move on. Izuku begins to look forward to the letters, and wonders if Shoto enjoys their chats as much as he does.
.
Bakugou Katsuki makes for Izuku’s form after his training session with Yagi-sensei one afternoon. His words hit deep, tearing open wounds he’s long forgotten. His magic hits hard and bruises form on the underside of Izuku’s arms; purple and blotchy, bleeding both blood and magic.
Inko shakes her head, despair written across the expanse of her creasing forehead. She dabs light green ointment on his bruises and assumes they come from Izuku’s training.
He doesn’t tell her.
.
The purple blotches on his arms slowly fade over time.
.
I almost died, once. Someone told me that I should take a swan dive off a cliff. We live on one and it overlooks the town we’re staying at. It’s beautiful during dawn and dusk, but the people are something else. I appreciate them but sometimes they take things too far.
I never told my mom about it. I haven’t told my teacher about it either.
But I think I can trust you enough to say it.
I only bring this up because Kacchan came by the other day, after my training. He spoke to me and then fought me. I didn’t want to fight, I couldn’t fight him, but he was relentless.
.
Shouto feels the need to meet him. Deku, his name read. Green ink bled across the white parchment and emotions that carried anxiety and frustration spout like water from a fountain with each word he read.
.
I almost died, once, too. My father tore my family apart until I was the only one who remained. Mom is broken, my siblings are trying their best to atone, and my father remains on his throne of flames.
His hand shakes and the pen he’s holding starts to burn.
I think I owe it to you to share a difficult story. It’s not easy to find someone to confide in.
.
Thank you for sharing that to me, Shoto.
.
Thank you, Deku.
.
.
.
Have you thought of going to the yearly fire festival? I hear it’s beautiful.
.
I’ve never gone to the fair before. I never had a reason to. It’s full of magic that I didn’t have back then. Mom wanted to bring me before but I told her I didn’t want to go. I know it’s petty to think that I don’t deserve it because all that time, I really thought I didn’t deserve to. Not when people would jeer that I couldn’t use magic, that I was useless.
Deku. That’s what it really means; useless.
I met a friend who gave my name another meaning though. So now I think of ‘Deku’ as ‘dekiru’; ‘able to’. Because I can do it.
I’m sorry for writing so much! To answer your question, my teacher’s making me go. He wants to introduce me to someone important, he said. I wonder who it is to get his attention like that?
What do you think?
Belatedly, Izuku adds, scrawled at the very bottom of the page.
What about you?
.
Your teacher? If you don’t want to go, you shouldn’t let him drag you around. If it makes you feel any better though, I haven’t gone to the festival either.
I wouldn’t know who would be important enough. Royalty, perhaps?
.
That’s a good guess! But I’ve decided that I’m not going to the festival. My teacher says that he’s fine with it and he’s happy I spoke to him about it. I’m not that confident about my magic yet, so I don’t want to embarrass him any more than I would have.
.
Oh. Well, that’s too bad.
.
Was Shoto expecting him to go?
.
I wanted to introduce myself since we’ve been writing for so long that it feels odd not to. My name is Midoriya Izuku, and my future hero name will be Deku. I hope that you’ll find a use for it. It’s not filled with much yet but that’s the name that I use.
.
In the days to come, Izuku will change his mind about attending. The crown prince coming to the fair sparks something in him. Curiosity, perhaps, at the power the prince manages to control within his grasp.
Fire and ice, Yagi-sensei had said to him.
Burning and freezing.
He’ll be introduced at the fair by the king. It’ll be the first time he’s ever be seen in public.
No one even knows his name.
.
“You can call me Deku, your highness. That’s what I plan on using once I become a full-fledged hero like my teacher.” Izuku says, holding out a hand.
Izuku notices the prince’s gaze, sharpening as the latter stares at the former. It belies a certain familiarity, something soothing to Izuku’s chest.
The prince imitates the gesture, taking Izuku’s hand, “Todoroki Shouto. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Midoriya Izuku.”
It’s his turn to act surprised, eyes widening owlishly. He’s only said his name to one other person recently. Yagi-sensei stiffens beside him. To be given his full name by the prince, choking with power, is surprising in its own right.
“Shoto?”
Burning and freezing.
Fire and ice.
Something familiar rises in his throat; magic of unimaginable caliber creeping from the pit of his stomach.
“Yes, Deku?”
Izuku can’t help but smile.

What did I Walk in On??
Kiribakudeku soulmate au
Edit: part two
Katsuki and Izuku find out that they're soulmates when they're kids because well.
Eventually the whole 'quirkless deku looking down on me' thing happens and it's worse because Izuku's all the more keen to stick by his side because the only other person that he thinks can love him is his mom.
Eventually, Katsuki makes the declaration. "My real soulmate better be better than a Deku like you, you better not try to get in our way, shit-nerd." Even though this mysterious third person is both of their soulmate. But, since Katsuki is also Izuku's soulmate, he listens. In middle school Katsuki gets more violent, but Izuku doesn't see a problem because he has to love Katsuki, they're soulmates. He knows he's worthless next to Katsuki, so he's just happy Katsuki doesn't want to leave him.
"Maybe you'll get a quirk in the next life if you take a swan dive off the roof."
And god, does Izuku stare at the street below him for a long time. His idol just told him his dream was unrealistic and suicidal, and his own soulmate wants him to die. It's only when he thinks about his other soulmate, that he realizes how selfish he's being. His dad left his mom, Izuku's all she has. Katsuki's reputation would be ruined if it got out that he pushed a classmate into suicide, and All Might doesn't need a child's death weighing his conscience. Izuku got off the building and suddenly there was a terrible feeling in his gut.
An explosion not far from where he stood.
He ran, he didn't know why he ran, why was he running? Before he knew it his lungs ached and his throat burned, but he got to what he was apparently running toward.
And he'd never seen Katsuki that scared before, ingulfed in the slime monster that nearly suffocated him not even an hour ago.
He moved, quickly formulating a plan and damn his legs hurt. He threw his backpack at the villain, stunning it just long enough to start clawing desperately at the villain. Izuku could feel one of his soul marks burning.
No
He's slipping
With the adrenaline pumping through his vains, Izuku grabbed his arm and yanked. He got the top half of Katsuki out and he was gasping for breath. There was a loud clap and suddenly the wind around him was increadibly strong. He tried to protect the barely conscious and larger boy but before he knew it he was picked up by the neck of his uniform like a fish, Katsuki no different.
"I AM HERE!!"
Dread pooled in Izuku's stomach, because he didn't want to be realistic, he wanted to be a hero, but even the man who's face is plastered on every 'you can be a hero' billboard thinks he's worthless.
The next half-hour passed like a blur, he's pretty sure every pro hero in Mustafu has scolded him at this point, because he was a foolish, weak, quirkless child.
He walked home but was pulled into an alley by none other than Katsuki himself. "This means nothing, you're still a worthless piece of crap and you didn't help me at all back there."
Izuku hasn't felt this numb before, this ammune to what Katsuki says. Instead, he speaks back for once, without thinking about it. "Having a soulmate so close to dying really burns, I'm sorry I almost forced you feel the same." And Katsuki froze, the blood draining from his face in the alley.
Izuku walked out without another word, all the ridicule of the day echoing in his head, he was getting a headache.
But when All Might, in his weakened form, bumped into him just as the sun was setting, things changed.
Izuku lived on a tight training schedule, pushing himself as far as he could go and then further. He noticed that Katsuki was ignoring him now, and he always cut himself off when he was yelling.
"Eat this."
After a brief explanation, Izuku gladly took the hair after being told the other options.
He broke his leg and his arm in the entrance exam, but he was happy, because he got in.
Class 1-A was the class he and Katsuki were assigned to, and he walked in with a deep breath.
"The person with the fewest points will be expelled."
And the anxiety is back.
Izuku was pulling up normal numbers, and panicking, so he did what he usually did when he was nervous. He analyzed the hero students.
What caught his attention, was a boy named Aoyama, he wore a belt and shot a laser from his stomach. Izuku wondered how the belt worked, slipping into his mumbling habit.
"Is it to concentrate his laser? No, then he wouldn't be allowed to use it because it would be a support item. Maybe it's for his safety? Controlling his laser so it won't destroy his stomach? Does the belt spread out the laser's pressure to lessen the impact on Aoyama's stomach?" And then he froze. "Can I do that?"
So he tried it, and he could feel green lightning crackling through his body. He only had an instant to watch the scowl on Katsuki's face be replaced with shock before he was racing. He cleared half the way in a fraction of a second before One for All completely sputtered out, leaving him bowling to the finish line at a break-neck speed.
So he couldn't hold that for long.
He did the same with the ball throw, and with an instant he threw the ball so fast it broke the sound barrier, making everyone cover their ears. His legs ached as much as his arms did and he almost collapsed, but was caught by...fabric?
"Why did you almost collapse there?" Eraserhead ordered more than asked, and suddenly Izuku had to think of a lie, one that would convince both the teacher and Katsuki, who he saw was frothing at the mouth.
So he told an outline of the truth. "I only developed this quirk at the entrance exam, I'm sorry." He ducked his head as the teacher's expression changed completely.
Out of the corner of his eye he could see Katsuki's gears turning. "So, you tried to get into UA as a functioning quirkless." He stated. "I'm sure you know how lucky you are that you got a quirk with so much potential so suddenly." He put Izuku down with a sigh.
"You better not show so much recklessness in the future, problem child." Izuku turned back to the crowd of students, to see they were all staring at him, with various levels of shock. Suddenly he locked eyes with red.
It was a slightly darker red than Katsuki's, the boy was about as tall as katsuki with spiky red hair. The boy smiled, showing his sharp jagged teeth and something in Izuku clicked.
"My real soulmate better be better than a Deku like you, you better not try to get in our way, shit-nerd."
The words from so long ago echoed in Izuku's mind, but then he had another thought, gripping his wrist where this boy's soul mark lies. He's my soulmate.
He walked into the crowd, right toward the taller boy. "Hi! I'm Kirishima Eijirou. What about you?" The boy asked with a large grin that showed all his sharp teeth.
"M-Midoriya Izuku. U-um..." he didn't really know how to say the words, so he just showed the boy the red soul mark imprinted on his wrist. The other boy's smile somehow grew wider before he crouched and lifted his pant leg. There on his calf was the same green soul mark that was imprinted in Katsuki's leg.
Izuku was reduced to sputtering, looking up at his other soulmate. "So, do you know who orange is?" He said, lifting his sleeve to show the orange soul mark that painted his and Izuku's bicep.
"DEKU!!" The simple name made Izuku involuntarily flinch. He snapped his head over just in time to see Katsuki stomping toward him. He was picked up by the front of his collar by Katsuki, who was hurling insults and accusations.
Everyone had there attention on the two. Suddenly he was put down, and his eyes landed on Kirishima Eijirou gripping Katsuki's wrist. "What the hell, dud-" and that was as far as he got before he noticed the red peeking through the fingers that held Katsuki's wrist. He shifted his hands to see the same red mark that painted Izuku's same wrist.
Realization his Katsuki and he turned to Izuku, who gave a nod, head still pointed down.
Crap.
