#sorry I was going through femslash project and so far I have not written for the same ship once

One thing I will always find really funny is you could give me literally any f/f ship ever and I will probably love it or at least be like “yes yes I see the vision” no matter how much of a rarepair or even a crackship it is. M/f you’ve got about a 30% chance to sell it to me based on a lot of genuinely good canon backing and consistent writing. M/m ships? The moon has to be in the right phase and the wind fair and if the exact conditions are met I might be deigned to hear it out. Truly I was put on this earth to balance against the fujoshis
#it’s just so funny to me how if you like. go into my f/f tags#there are so SO many different ships between so many different characters#but if you go in the m/m tag?#it’s renkaza. it’s literally just renkaza. that’s all you get. that’s all you would find#and it’s like. not even in the sense that I DISLIKE m/m (obviously)#it’s just that. I don’t care. more often than not I just simply don’t care beyond a ‘yeah that’s cool ig’#and then I move on#it’s that if there’s no women involved it’s so hard for me to get invested#the dynamic has to be juuuuuust right#honestly I think that’s why I even tend to have more m/f ships I consistently engage with#because there’s still a woman involved lmao#sorry I was going through femslash project and so far I have not written for the same ship once#none of my fic IDEAS are even for the same ships#because there are so many I love and so many I want to write for#but yeah no if you ask for m/m you get renkaza sorry like that’s your only option#kaz rambles

AnneFiction 2018
If I Speak for the Dead. Carolina/Kimball, 8000 words, rated M. I wrote this for the last Femslash February and I’m still really proud of it. Writing this was important to me and a pretty cathartic experience and I’m super glad I wrote it.
The Drop, Part 3: The Landing. Carolina/Maine, 98K, rated E. I FINISHED IT. HOLY SHIT. Five years I have worked on this trilogy and this year I can say I finished it. Whatever else I didn’t do this year, I have that.
For the numbers: My first draft of The Landing was 60,755 words, completed on July 26, 2017. I got a short way into revisions and brought the total to 63,559 by year’s end. That was all 2017 writing. The second draft was 94,274 words and completed on April 17, 2018, and the final, posted version clocks in at 98,692. That means I wrote 35,133 new words toward The Landing in 2018.
In the Wind. Qrow/Taiyang, 4000 words, rated E.
In another world, it’s his blood in the snow. A Carolina/Maine poem, because I’m that kind of nerd.
Still. Carolina/Kimball, 580 words, rated G. Because December is the time for comfort fic.
Also, I Make Podfics Now
This is not writing but it’s a fic-related thing I did, so I’m putting it on here.
Connie by punishandenslavesuckers. CT gen, CT/Wash. 24 minutes. Rated E. This was my second foray into podfic and considerably longer than the first. I love this fic so much that even if podfic isn’t your thing I hope you’ll go read it for yourself! I had a blast making this one, and I have plans for more in 2019.
Reflections below the cut.
So honestly I’ve kind of been dreading making this post.
Relative to the past few years, I feel like I have so little to show for this year, and that… does not feel great. I don’t have a long list of one-shots to show off this year. I don’t have any dramatic wordcounts of an unposted draft in the works, either.
The back half of this year has been… rocky, for writing. My intent once The Drop was done was to focus on finishing my other two big WIPs, Radio Silence and Inroads. On both of those, I did not get nearly as far as I wanted to. To give myself some credit, I accomplished a lot in terms of worldbuilding and outlining for Inroads, and Radio Silence… well I sure did bang my head against that brick wall for a while. Neither of them got far enough to have any new material posted and for that… I’m sorry. I really wish I’d been able to do more.
As I put this post together, I spent a lot of time going through my writing: the landing tag on tumblr, and that was really good for me. It reminded me how much I did do this year, and how hard I worked to finish the project that has been closest to my heart in this fandom. I also re-read this post, which made me feel a whole lot better about what I did this year.
As December rolled around I was exhausted both with trying to write and with not finishing anything and I decided to just try a change of pace, anything to get the gears moving again, and it did.
I wrote something fairly off my beaten path, a RWBY fic! And then I managed to polish up and post a couple of pieces I’ve been sitting on for a few months now not quite satisfied with them. Which is better than nothing.
Total new works posted: 111,767 words.
Total new words written and posted: 48,208 words
Unposted new words written: At least 8K but beyond that, I have not kept very good records so I honestly have no idea.
I have some plans and some goals for 2019... but that will be its own post.
