sorin was at school most of the day so he didn't text me much. he is still upset with me as well so i think that is why he didn't message me during the bus ride or anything. it is a lot of effort getting him to talk, but he is cute when he does. he is speaking in proper case with no emojis lately which is the only way to tell he's upset.

he called me and played some game for a few minutes for which i wasnt as grateful as i should've been. i assumed the call would last longer.

i am confused and tired and upset and most of all lonely. he's all i have and i don't know what to do when he's mad at me. especially when he won't even admit that he is in the first place.

i'm scared that he'll get bored and leave before we meet in person.

i also feel sick that i've ruined my image as the innocent submissive boyfriend. now i just feel insane and selfish and hurtful. ah but what is young love without a few mistakes? or something idk

i hope he will like me again soon. it is selfish. i know i've ruined the relationship and he'll be miserable with me no matter what, so i should just leave and let him find someone better, but i don't want to. and he won't leave me either no matter how much i beg. he's very strange but i guess that's why i love him.

hmm i should also mention that i didn't lash out today! i wrote an emo little page of poetry venting stuff and i think that helped me feel better! i wasn't particularly angry or anything, just sad. so that means another day without an episode wahahahah! let's get a clean streak going >:3

La Loi de Téhéran, avec Payman Maadi, confirme que le polar bouge encore. Wild Bunch

Le film de Saeed Roustayi offre une plongée vertigineuse au cœur du trafic de stupéfiants en Iran. La loi de Téhéran, à ne pas manquer ce mardi 5 septembre à 22 heures 35 sur OCS pulp.

La séquence d'ouverture est déconseillée aux cardiaques. On en a vu un paquet, sur les écrans, des descentes de flics et des courses-poursuites. Mais celles orchestrées parSaeed Roustayi à Téhéran, qui allient réalisme et adrénaline, n'ont pas grand-chose à envier au William Friedkin de The French Connection.

La Loi de Téhéran (2021) met en scène une brigade des stupéfiants à la recherche d'un narcotrafiquant, Naser Khakzad. À sa tête, Samad, joué par Payman Maadi, l'acteur d'Une séparation, d'Asghar Farhadi. Ni tendre ni brute, pragmatique. On pense à L627 de Bertrand Tavernier et à ses agents luttant sans moyens contre le trafic de drogue dans un Paris misérable. Samad et son équipe ratissent large dans les bidonvilles pour remonter jusqu'aux gros bonnets.

Dialogues au cordeau

La méthode est éprouvante. Elle permet de pister Naser Khakzad. Une ex-petite amie ou des « mules » obèses arrêtées à l'aéroport en partance pour le Japon. Aucun temps mort ni digression dans cette plongée dans le trafic de drogue iranien. Pas de respiration en famille pour les policiers. Tout pour l'enquête. Les interrogatoires et leurs dialogues au cordeau ont la même tension que les scènes d'action.

Le thriller de Saeed Roustayi change de braquet sans prévenir. Il offre un tableau édifiant d'un commissariat iranien. Dans la même cellule s'entassent caïds, toxicos et enfants. Dans cette cour des Miracles, un vieil éclopé récidiviste est prêt à faire porter le chapeau à son fils et à l'envoyer deux ans en centre de rééducation plutôt que d'assumer sa responsabilité et retourner derrière les barreaux. La justice est montrée comme un système arbitraire. Saeed Roustayi en sait quelque chose, lui qui a été jeté en prison en 2022 suite à la présentation au Festival de Cannes de Leila et ses frères. Dans le bureau du juge, les policiers ont autant à craindre que les suspects. En un claquement de doigts, un enquêteur peut être accusé de corruption.

Répression féroce

La Loi de Téhéran confirme que le polar bouge encore. Et que les États-Unis ou la France ne sont plus ses territoires les plus fertiles. « Quand j'ai commencé ce boulot, il y avait 1 million de drogués, maintenant il y en a 6 millions. » Le constat désabusé de Samad prouve que les Républiques islamistes mènent les mêmes combats que les démocraties occidentales. Et qu'elles subissent les mêmes échecs, malgré une répression féroce. En Iran, un consommateur pris avec 30 g ou un dealer avec 50 kg écopent de la même peine : la pendaison. À ce tarif-là, autant jouer gros. La vente de crack a explosé au pays des mollahs.

I get in the rpc how important it is to like set up boundaries and shit right, and how you always get a right to block people but like.

Communication is also important too, especially after assuming you’ve been friends with someone for a while, just suddenly being blocked is kind of like, idk what’s the word, baffling?

Rpc in general has a garbage habit of communication, and I do get that I am not owed an explanation but like? It just leaves me with questions that will never get answered at this point. I’ve tried coming up, I’d apologize but like, I don’t know what I’ve done?

Ghosting people with no explanation and with a history of being like, friends is pretty damaging. Just talk to me if I ever do something that bugs you. Like damn, shooting me a message of why and instantly blocking afterwards is better than nothing at all

Anyone would think it was abnormal seeing anyone, let alone Zephyr watching the vent like that. This stranger was far from the first to come by and question him. For awhile Popukar had sat next to and also joined to watch, but grew bored ‘waiting’ and gone back on her way to get up to some other mischief. The Liberi remained. When accosted this time, perhaps something about what she had said he curses and there’s.... something shuffling in the vent?! A loud clatter like someone had been sitting back there somewhere and now turned tail.

“Damnit!”

But he’s cool, he’s fine. He’ll find her again later. For now... Zephyr turns to face the Vulpo, sizing her up with a glance as words are regarded. One moment he’s sitting on the ground leering, the next he’s vanished. A voice sounds from behind the woman, Zephyr now standing against the wall with arms folded. Not a conventional way to approach someone, but when was he ever following any of those lines? Besides, she was suspicious.

“Well hello there.” The smile is superficial, but carries enough of the usual smugness of the raven that it would be convincing all the same after he recaptured her attention. “Maybe. I’ve seen a lot of people around here, but I don’t recall seeing you on Rhodes Island before. And I’d remember a face like that.” And yet, there was something about her appearance that jogged the memory. Vulpo. Taller woman. Tails, plural. Could this be the ex which Jester had mentioned before? ...and to think Zephyr had thought him going mad.

The grin renews.

“So, mind telling me who’s asking? And what this we is? I might be willing to help... might not... I was already tracking someone down after all before you came along. So I find myself a little inconvenienced as it is.”

Met him on my first 'walk to Mirrodin. Apparently he created it himself!

Heard about her on Bant, and decided to see if I could find her so I could learn more about being an altruist. Told she was slain, so my trail went cold, but they were SO wrong about that!

Met him while studying on Arcavios... HOO boy, THAT was a mess! Anyway, he helped save the plane, so good on him.

Friended her a while back after she failed to seduce me (turns out there are limitations to charm magic when the intended target isn't that into you).

Twin sister of #3, with both sharing the same spark. Must be awkward if one decides to 'walk while the other's in the middle of something important like... I 'unno, peeing I guess?

Heard about my affinity for time, and so he tracked ME down! This is AFTER I spent a while tracking down info on the "Great Mender", though I thought it was a specialist on healing magic, heheh...

Asked to friend me after overhearing that I don't eat beef or wear cowskin... then swore fiery, forgey vengeance on me if I EVER come onto his daughters. PRETTY sure there's no danger of that even if they're human, so... yay?

Saw me blundering through Ulvenwald and asked if I were worried about the wolves, to which I innocently replied with "What's wrong with wolves?" She led me to safety (aka a different plane) as a thank you for being so kind.

THIS is the life mage I was trying to find! I eventually tracked him to a book club or something on Kamigawa. The Nacatl of Naya called him "a hideously gruff, ill-mannered, insatiably berserk rebel", but I see him as kind, wise, and calm.

Kinda unsettling at first, but let's just say that putting the Greater Good first and foremost reveals an unseen side of this seemingly snobbish gentleman.

My first 'walk to Ravnica was... let's say "tumultuous". Actually, let's also say it was "accidentally crashed into an Izzet laboratory-ish". This guy said I was an automatic shoe-in to become a member of his guild, but he also advised me to consider whether I wanted to get tied to one plane. I was too busy staring at his... uh... eyes to remember what I said, or how he was added to my friends list.

Friended me later that day, in fact. Turns out a simple, sincerely friendly "Hi!" is enough to win her over... though she DID admit to almost turning me into a statue for being too close at first.

She was dealing with an emotional conundrum, so I offered some advice: "Just be true to yourself, and vent those pent-up emotions. Holding onto them isn't healthy, and your needs matter just as much as others' do." Hopefully she's in a better state of mind than before.

While out with Mom and my sisters yesterday, we got behind a van whose driver was obviously drunk or high off his goddamn ass, and he was swerving EVERYWHERE, nearly shoving so many cars off the road. Mom called 911 to get in contact with highway patrol to report his dumb fucking ass in. I was having an absolute panic attack and cried quietly like the entire 45 or so minute drive home. I was just so, so upset because this is why I don't fucking drive, and I felt like I'd made my sister (who was driving) mad because she had to firmly tell me I had to calm down (I was hyperventilating and talking to myself to try to calm down) if she was going to focus and keep us safe. She later ensured me she wasn't mad, but I still wasn't the same the entire rest of the day. Anyway, I slept hard last night but had two nightmares, so I'm still really tired today. I'm trying to keep myself really distracted. What's something your relatives don't know about you? A whole lot really, considering beyond my very immediate family, I see almost nobody because they live many states away. What's something your parents did, which you have sworn never to do? Mom would spank us or slap an arm pretty hard if my sisters or I misbehaved or "disrespected" her by "talking back." I'm not having kids, but I would never, ever, ever, put my hands on them in any way that isn't loving. You do not teach children via inflicting fear. I also have this probably overly strong aversion to beer because that's what Dad always drank as an alcoholic. I'll probably never try it, not that I really want to because it smells awful. What's the most annoying thing your pet does? I feel like "annoying" is the wrong word for this, but Roman (my cat) can be incredibly demanding of attention and to lie on me when I'm on the laptop in bed, and sometimes I just want space and be able to clearly see the screen, haha. He will legit meow like a baby and gently swat my arm sometimes if I try to keep him back. Heeee usually gets his way. As for Venus (snek), she does nothing "annoying" either, but rather a bit concerning to a snake mom: she is usually very slow to find and strike her food. I feed her frozen/thawed mice, and she will first slither around her entire cage, tongue flicking and clearly looking for her food, even though I always place it atop the same spot on her hide, and she can have her head RIGHT beside it and still do nothing. She ultimately generally eats (as a ball python though, she's a picky eater and will occasionally reject a meal), but I of course wonder why she's odd about dinnertime... As a champagne, she does have the notorious "spider gene" in her, which can cause neurological issues, but idk if something like this could be related.

Just random Libra headcannons

Ok I’m going to be including some of my OCs in here and I hope you guys are buckled up, it’s going to be a long post so i’m putting it under the cut.

Zap’s real name is actually Zahir. Zap was a nickname given to him by his mother when he was a kid and it just kinda stuck.

Also Zap is a major Mama’s boy and loves her with all his heart. He calls her everyday to fill her in on things.

Zed isn’t actually as up tight as he seems, he’s actually quite funny and has a good set of joke if you get to know him.

Both Chain and Leo are incredible dancers. Chain was trained in classical ballroom from a very young age and Leo learned from his grandparents and his mother enrolling him in jazz and ballroom classes.

Steven got the scar on his face when he and Klaus were just starting out as Fang Hunters.

Dog and Deldro keep one another in check and are honestly the friendliest duo in LIBRA by far. Dog and Deldro are friends with mainly Leo and the Sorin twins.

Klaus’s love of gardening comes from his late grandmother; she taught him everything he knew and he picked up the mantle of being the gardener in the family after she died.

K.K and Steven are actually good friends, they just tend to be dicks to one another. It’s how they show affection.

K.K is like the mother hen of LIBRA, if you’re hurt on a mission she’s the first one to baby you on the way to the hospital. She also makes food and coffee and is one of the best people to vent to about your problems. 

Steven actually looks out a lot for the younger members, more than they really know. 

Klaus is the godfather to K.K’s children. They call him “Uncle Klausy” much to his delight. 

After the whole incident with the King of Despair, Black actually starts working with LIBRA on some missions and is slowly inducted in over time, the whole team loves him.

Ruby and her twin brother Leon are the newest members of LIBRA. Leon is a blood uses and uses something called the “Blood Hammer” technique, while Ruby is the only true witch that the team has ever met. The two of them came to LIBRA from another division that was based in Eastern Europe. Their other  6 siblings run LIBRA Romania and Cuba.

Leonardo is full-blooded Italian and can speak it perfectly. You know when he’s either very tired or very pissed because he’ll start slipping back and forth between italian and english.

Since we’re on the topic of languages and ethnicities here are a few more.

Zap is part indian on his mothers side and pakistani on his fathers side. He can speak Hindi fluently as well since it’s his second language. LIBRA has only heard him speak it a handful of times to his mother when he’s on the phone with her. 

Chain is half Japanese on her father’s side and can speak it a little bit, but her father passed before he could fully teach her so she’s trying to get Steven to help her since he speaks it fluently.

Ruby and her brother can both speak four languages in total, Italian, Spanish, Romanian and English. While their Italian isn’t the best, Leo has been helping them learn more.

Klaus is German/French and can speak both very well. Steven can speak fluent Spanish and Latin.

K.K speaks fluent polish.

Ruby and Chain are both very close friends and are a force of nature when paired up together. LIBRA has a rule, if you ever see Ruby and Chain whispering and giggling; run, just run.

When Zap actually likes a girl (or boy) in a realtionship manner and not in just an exclusively sexual manner, he tends to get rather shy and almost clam up. All traces of the smooth man is gone and you’re left with a dork.

Speaking of which, Zap kinda has a big small crush on Ruby and he literally can not function when she’s around. The first words out of his mouth when he met her was “Pretty” everyone else laughed but Ruby found it endearing.

Ruby definitely returns the big small crush.

Leonardo is bi and has honestly had a hard time coming to terms with it because he was raised catholic. But when he comes out to LIBRA, they just hug him and tell him how brace he is.

Zap has failed about 12,000 times now to get the drop on Klaus.

Chain laughs every single time.

preface: i know mtg lore has taken a huge backseat for a long time, especially since they stopped frequently publishing books. no one is involved in mtg for the lore anymore except me. this is entirely just to get a bunch of my feelings about it out because i’m used to being Disappointed with it lately and i gotta VENT

preface pt 2: i am very negative in this whole thing but the book was entertaining as a whole if you just take it at face value, which is that it’s just a big excuse to have all your favs show up at the same time. i’ve just got beef.

things i’m not annoyed about:

dack fayden is back and he’s such a trope but boy i love him

ral’s still my fav. i guess he has a boyfriend now so that’s kinda cool

teyo and rat’s dynamic is pretty fun and i like teyo more than i thought i would. rat is super cute

kaya gets to be cool and doesn’t appear to have the same ‘i immediately think about how attractive and/or cool gideon and/or jace is when i enter into the immediate vicinity’ that a lot of the other main gals have

and the negative stuff i need to get OFF MY CHEST:

the pacing is so bad

why is dovin baan still working with bolas? he was lawful neutral until someone decided he wasn’t, i guess! 

like ok i could SORT OF understand it when they were like ‘dovin baan felt he could bring order to ravnica and couldn’t pass up the opportunity when bolas offered it’ but like?? bolas is clearly destroying it. what the fuck is dovin’s motivation at this point other than just being evil 

like literally NONE of bolas’ other allies are his allies because they want to be there. there is no reason to side with bolas except maybe ‘i don’t want to get murdered.’ even then, you KNOW he’s probably going to murder you. there is no reason to make this level of a villain out of dovin baan.

i’m pissed about a interesting character’s wasted potential counter: 1

ob nixilus just shows up because he’s a planeswalker and they had to put him in the story somewhere, and everyone immediately tolerates him for some reason

like i’d believe it if someone at least saw him and like. immediately tried to punch him in the face before being like ‘oh yeah, bigger problems’ but nope. he’s just kind of there

chandra only does 3 things: think about how cool gideon and/or jace is, make rash decisions, and get yelled at. sometimes she’s allowed to do a cool thing among those other things

sorin just shows up. there is no explanation as to how he escaped imprisonment outside of gideon going ‘wait wasn’t sorin stuck in a wall’ and as someone who has been hoping sorin would return for a long-ass time i’m ANNOYED

i’ll forgive the fact he and nahiri totally just abandoned the fight with bolas to throw down with each other though. that’s hilarious. they are both useless and i love them

i’m pissed about a interesting character’s wasted potential counter: 2

literally every planeswalker is summoned by the pull of the beacon, and gideon even talks about how hard it was to avoid the pull and go to kaladesh first, but vraska just... doesn’t go... because she doesn’t wanna. she wants to get drunk on ixalan. why does she have this power? who knows

i know she shows up later but at that point the beacon was OFF

grown-ass people keep blushing. in life or death situations. this is a nitpick but oof

tezzeret shows up for like 2 pages, gets his chest abruptly exploded, laughs and is like ‘good job! i hope you kill bolas because then i will be the strongest!’ in the most canned, tropey villain move ever before completely exiting the story. it genuinely feels like they were like ‘well SOMEONE’s gotta guard the planar bridge and we don’t have time to actually write out a fight’ and shoehorned it in

there was no way gideon wasn’t going to die after all of their emphasis on him being unkillable so that’s a thing

‘oh it’s better for us to not murder nicol bolas and instead imprison him’ yeah because that’s not going to obviously go wrong

i have more opinions but i’m tired and everything from chapter 46 onwards is kind of a blur so i’m just gonna stop here for now and take a NAP

tl;dr - (grabs ral and dack and shoves them under my arm before running full sprint out of the lore) everything lorewise recently has just utterly wasted the potential of so many characters and character arcs in the favor of one-dimensional and nonsensical plot ‘’’’twists’’’’ including forcing characters to play roles that are completely against established morals with no actual reasoning. the book was entertaining, sure. but lorewise? yikes. big yikes. big disappointment. maybe they only had like a few months to work on it i don’t know but oof
