The armor needs some serious updating, lmao.  But friendly reminder that before 2015 there was an alternate universe where Tony Stark caused Stephen’s accident that fucked up his hands after they left a party together and Tony felt so damn guilty about that - about pretty much taking away Stephen’s life - that he ended up becoming Sorcerer Supreme to find a way to actually heal him and let Stephen get on with his life.

Friendly reminder that Tony was kind of a dick through the whole thing, too.  Friendly reminder that Dormammu captured Tony and Stephen donned the Iron Man armor/Cloak of Levitation and saved his ass.  And that they teamed up as two badasses and saved the day.

So, Spider-Man No Way Home

I enjoyed it. It’s the sorta soft-reboot we need to finally get away from Iron Spider. Thanks. Let’s focus on Peter Parker as a character and not his relationship with the superhero billionaire.

Every scene with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield is perfect. Actually I think Garfield!Peter being allowed to catch MJ (who is now fucking called Watson, you dipshit idiots, how much more backpeddling, because her fucking name could have just been Mary Jane Watson from the start, but noooooooooo~~~ le grande surprise, big revelation, a hahahaha-moment..... idiots... I hate this so much, Zendaya could have just been the Mary Jane Watson we know with a bit of a modern edge to fit and everything would have worked out fine... ugh)... wait, where was I? Right, MJ falling to her death, her Peter getting pushed away and Garfield!Peter coming to the rescue. Loved that! He deserved the win. Was nice to see him so emotional over this.

I’m just gonna pretend Maguire!Peter married his MJ and they have a daughter now. They didn’t say this, but they also didn’t say anything that would contradict this. His Peter was the wiser older guy, that was nice.

Having the Green Goblin out of the Rogue’s Gallery as the ultimate enemy is 100% fitting. That is Spider-Man. Just like amping up the spider-sense. Good scene. Finally the tiny moments making this feel like a Spider-Man story. Including JJJ of course. It’s a big course correction movie.

Except... well... but this isn’t even the first time Aunt May got killed in recent years. Hated that story bit in another big Spider-Man media adventure, hate it here. Although kudos for letting her impart final last wisdom on Peter. Maybe not seeing Uncle Ben die - which seemed like a good call back then - really was a key element missing for Peter to become Spider-Man. And it wasn’t Tony Stark dying that finally did it, nope, it’s Aunt May. Hate it though.

I don’t exactly hate One More Day. It was stupid how Marvel mandated for Peter and MJ to break up, because oh no married superheroes. But I always liked the price, that this was build around heartbreak and loss. So the great forgetting now? It feels tragic. As it should.

Of course... dear Stephen Strange... explain the spell in detail before you start! But yeah, Peter being a teen and Stephen being his impatient self (for the extra large ego), this disaster had to happen. XD It was stupid. But in-character. Can’t complain.

Also finally the confirmation I waited for. Wong is the current Sorcerer Surpreme. Wonderful.

The mission of this fllm clearly was to set MCU!Spidey on the right path. Adding a big nostalgia bonus. (And one more step towards the Multiverse.) Well, okay, mission accomplished.

MCU VERSES (NOT PREFERRED / REQUIRE PLOTTING)

main:  canon divergent post-the winter soldier.  not endgame compliant.  includes director of shield and gotg verses. director of shield:  post-tws - shield revamps with tony as director.  lead up to civil war. gotg:  post-civil war tony takes off to space for a while, has adventures, hooks up with the gotg. civil war au:  tony refuses to sign and the avengers go to ground to fight a secret war against the accords.

CANON AU / AU VERSES

616 fallout 4 companion:  default has maccready and steve pulling him out of stasis after a rescue mission gone wrong before the war.  railroad heavy.  traveling handyman.  full of annoying we can do it attitude. mcu fallout 4 companion:  the arc reactor’s kept him alive and he’s been rebuilding new york bit by bit.  follows the prydwen into the commonwealth. mcu courier six:  kept in stasis in a vault until the first battle of hoover dam.  odd jobs around the mojave.  gets shot in the head in goodsprings.  the iron mailman. 616 vault resident:  fallout 76-based.  funny how tony got talked into a tour of vault 76 on the day the bombs fell, right?  almost like vault-tec knew they were coming.  responder.  fire breather. skyrim:  the last living dwemer on nirn.  tinkerer.  smartass.  loves to pester the college and calcelmo.  great for tours through dwemer ruins.  gets confused for an oversized bosmer a lot.  will let you believe it.  part of the formation of an alternative choice to the companions who seeks to do good for the sake of it.  not a typical specimen of a dwemer. eso:  breton dwemer-obsessed scholar trying to stay out of the war.  fails at that.  also a vampire! no powers:  tony’s just a mechanic living paycheck to paycheck.  all those brains and none of the opportunities.

Thanks to the weird ability she had gained by accident, they could make adjustments, which seemed invaluable. Sometimes she kept glimpses of the future to herself. There was only one of the heroes she told he would die for them to win. And as the dust settled those who she had seen die lay on the battlefield or at another location, dead.

Wong turned her around and introduced her to the sorcerer surpreme: Dr. Stephen Strange, who apparently already knew who she was and knew she would come into the picture as well. It was a warm welcome, which made MJ smile, despite how exhausted she was. 

Suddenly someone nudged her - Black Widow. “I think Spider-Man would love to see you.” She doubted that, because she was pretty sure nobody had filled him in on her being here, like they had filled her in on who he was, which resulted in Stark basically having a huge laughing fit as she snarked at Captain America saying “Who would have ever thought that. That kid is the definition of not being subtle. Lucky for him the rest of our classmates are the definition of clueless.”

MJ turned to look at him as War Machine pointed to her and him following the direction. She simply smiled at him. Despite the horror around them some beautiful moments of reunion could still be found, it seemed.

Eigentlich war der Drehstart bereits für 2019 angesetzt, nachdem Hauptdarsteller Benedict Cumberbatch („The Imitation Game“) eine Gehaltserhöhung von sechs Millionen Euro erhalten hat. Nicht nur aufgrund der Coronapandemie ist das Projekt etwas in Verzug geraten, feierte jedoch seinen Drehstart Anfang 2021 in London. Anfangs sollte Regisseur Scott Derrickson („Sinister II“), der bereits den opulenten ersten Teil inszeniert hat, auch für Teil zwei auf den Regiestuhl zurückkehren. Drei Monate vor geplantem Drehbeginn (Mai 2020) trat er offiziell zurück, Grund seien kreative Differenzen. Ersatz war schnell gefunden: Sam Raimi übernimmt den Posten. so i’m catching up on doctor strange issues i hadn’t read because blaaaaaaaaah

and aaron’s run is trying to tell me that this continuity has it only 5 years between the end of Stephen’s career as a surgeon, his fall from “grace”, his study and training, his time with the Ancient One as a Master of the Mystic Arts, then becoming Sorcerer Surpreme.  All of which encompasses 3 decently long runs of Doctor Strange ongoings, at the time supposedly years as Sorcerer Supreme. His long relationship with Clea that went to marriage then a long “separation” then divorce. And this also includes all modern comics... Civil War, Fear Itself, Strange’s time in the New Avengers. 

to where he’s currently sitting as a semi-deposed Sorcerer Supreme with nothing to show for anything.

5 years????  But like. You couldnt just pretend you read any Doctor Strange before this tho?? or you just needed so much to have him... have to re-operate on some of his previous patients???

and you’re 100% right. karl is a strategist - he didn’t do burpees and squats everyday at the crack of dawn for nothing. everytime he goes out to steal someone’s magic, he sends the most provocative picture he took of himself to stephen knowing his top would be too busy bleeding from the nose to actually figure out what’s going.
