Okay, but imagine this: Sophia's status as a mutant goes public and one of Peter's co-workere at the Bugle (also, let's just say he still works there in this case) makes a disparaging comment about "Parker dating a mutie" and someone says something. But it's not Peter, not May, not even Sophia. It's JAMESON.
It IS worth saying that Jameson doesn't allow discrimination in his office...Unless it's Spider-Man. Discriminate away.
But no, seriously, there IS a Spider-Man comic where a racist fuck comes to help Jameson and he immediately shuts him down because that thing is NOT cool. So if word got out that Parker WAS dating a mutant, I'd like to imagine that, powers or not, he won't allow bad talking in HIS paper.

a great example of a character written to be a love interest but also has there own stuff going on is Sophia Sandoval, peters gf from marvel adventures spiderman.
She talks to animals, she knows who spiderman is, peter doesn't know any of that. She's bff's with Emma frost. The second she finds out peter is single is the second she decides they are going to date. She is great
I love that we have two Spider-Verse movies, soon to be three, and not a single one of them has even so much implied that they're going to include Morlun, the interdimensional vampire who only eats people with spider powers, who was the reason for the Spider-verse crossover event that the movies are a loose adaptation of.
I love this because Morlun sucks and is a truly shitty character, in many ways being the pinnacle of all the things that one can do wrong when creating a new supervillain for a superhero who's had over half a century of adventures.

BW's Daily Video> The (Second) Best Spider-Man Girlfriend
Catch more from Chimmaney on YouTube Go back through my own reviews of Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man and you’ll see that I also love Chat as Peter’s love interest. Paul Tobin and Jeff Parker both made this and Marvel Adventures: The Avengers (one of my favorite comic series ever) must read comics no matter what age group it was intended for. They tell good stories and why I don’t buy kids stories…

Participantes: Marjorie Trejo, Álvaro Pavez, Constanza Risi, Angelo Salinas, Silvana Bravo, Ana Bellenzier, Israel Blanco, Javier Sandoval, Daniela Christie, Héctor Patiño, DagmaraWyskiel, Maryna Wyskiel, Julio Escobar y Sophia Otto.

Note
Since you've read the comics with them in it, here's an idea: Any headcanons you might have for Peter and Sophia Sandoval if they were a thing in the main marvel universe?
I feel like, at first, there'd be a LOT of moments where Peter would talk about his relationship with MJ and how guilty he felt for not being there for her the way she needed it. Sophia would allow him to share his pain for a while, but would still say, at one point, that if Peter wants to get back out there he would have to accept that what happened between him and MJ is not there anymore. They're done, whether her or anyone else likes it or not, and moving on can be the healthiest option for him.
Peter appreciates that word of advice and, after a while, follows through what Sophia says, putting his full attention onto her. They get along well with Sophia supporting Peter's role as a hero but always insisting she can be there to help. Sometimes Peter underestimates her, but she's always there for him when he needs it the most. Both when he's Spider-Man and when he's Peter Parker.

the results of the favorite pansexual characters survey are in!  @superfranticpanromantic
in a mind-blowingly shocking twist, deadpool is y’all’s favorite pansexual lmao
there were some recurring themes in the reasons y’all love these characters; y’all like the characters themselves and them being pan is secondary. they were the first pan/queer characters y'all saw. the characters are authentic, relatable, interesting, or amusing. they have chaotic or bad bitch energy. they’re open or casual about their pansexuality/queerness. they have a strong sense of who they are and are unapologetic about it. and they make y'all feel seen/valid or have helped y'all accept being pan/queer.
(my favorite response was the one that just said "i love bastards" because honestly same)
but this kind of made me realize how pansexual characters seem to have similar traits. whether they’re the literal devil, a superhero, or a normal person, they tend to really know who they are, which is often unique or quirky or badass, and never waver in or apologize for it. which is cool. we don’t get many pansexual characters, but the ones we have are kind of awesome.
Image Description below:
