BW's Daily Video> The (Second) Best Spider-Man Girlfriend
BW's Daily Video> The (Second) Best Spider-Man Girlfriend
Catch more from Chimmaney on YouTube Go back through my own reviews of Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man and you’ll see that I also love Chat as Peter’s love interest. Paul Tobin and Jeff Parker both made this and Marvel Adventures: The Avengers (one of my favorite comic series ever) must read comics no matter what age group it was intended for. They tell good stories and why I don’t buy kids stories…

Books from around the world - start
I decided to track how many authors from different countries I have read. The results were not surprising, but they were upsetting.
1st place - US: 131 authors
U.S. Virgin Islands: Kacen Callender (Saint Thomas)
2nd place - UK: 70
3rd place -  Japan: 35
4th place - France: 14
5th place - Canada: 12
Portugal: 8 (Augustina Bessa-Luís; Inês Botelho; Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen; Luís de Sttau Monteiro; Eça de Queirós; Aquilino Ribeiro; Gil Vicente; Alice Vieira)
Germany: 7 (Christiane Vera Felscherinow; Anne Frank; Cornelia Funke; Johann Wolfgang von Goethe; Brothers Grimm; Hanna Johansen; Patrick Süskind)
Australia: 3 (Liane Moriarty; C.S. Pacat; Markus Zusak)
New Zealand: 2 (Lloyd Jones; Juliet Marillier)
Brazil: 2 (Jorge Amado; Paulo Coelho)
Italy: 2 (Carlo Collodi; Elisabetta Gnone)
Sweden: 2 (John Ajvide Lindqvist; Astrid Lindgren)
Russia: 2 (Nikolai Gogol; Vladimir Nabokov)
Mexico: 1 (Tony Sandoval)
Poland: 1 (Andrzej Sapkowski)
Iceland: 1 (Sjón)
Singapore: 1 (Neon Yang)
Chile: 1 (Isabel Allende)
Czechoslovakia: 1 (Franz Kafka)
Spain: 1 (Laura Pérez)
Finland: 1 (Tove Jansson)
Denmark: 1 (Hans Christian Andersen)
Malaysia: 1 (Zen Cho)
The first 7 places don’t surprise me in the least, but I didn’t expect US to be that far ahead. I did this list for when I want to try authors from other countries in order to check the ones I already read at least a little from. I am surprised I only read one Spanish author to be honest.

Participantes: Marjorie Trejo, Álvaro Pavez, Constanza Risi, Angelo Salinas, Silvana Bravo, Ana Bellenzier, Israel Blanco, Javier Sandoval, Daniela Christie, Héctor Patiño, DagmaraWyskiel, Maryna Wyskiel, Julio Escobar y Sophia Otto.

the results of the favorite pansexual characters survey are in!  @superfranticpanromantic
in a mind-blowingly shocking twist, deadpool is y’all’s favorite pansexual lmao
there were some recurring themes in the reasons y’all love these characters; y’all like the characters themselves and them being pan is secondary. they were the first pan/queer characters y'all saw. the characters are authentic, relatable, interesting, or amusing. they have chaotic or bad bitch energy. they’re open or casual about their pansexuality/queerness. they have a strong sense of who they are and are unapologetic about it. and they make y'all feel seen/valid or have helped y'all accept being pan/queer.
(my favorite response was the one that just said "i love bastards" because honestly same)
but this kind of made me realize how pansexual characters seem to have similar traits. whether they’re the literal devil, a superhero, or a normal person, they tend to really know who they are, which is often unique or quirky or badass, and never waver in or apologize for it. which is cool. we don’t get many pansexual characters, but the ones we have are kind of awesome.
Image Description below:

Luisa de Gusmão, Queen of Portugal (Wife of King João IV of Portugal)
Tumblr media
Tenure: 1 December 1640 – 6 November 1656
Luisa María Francisca de Guzmán y Sandoval (13 October 1613 on Sanlúcar – 27 February 1666 in Lisboa) was a queen consort of Portugal. She was the spouse of King João IV, the first Bragança ruler, as well as the mother of two kings of Portugal (Afonso VI and Peter II) and a queen of England (Catarina of Bragança). She served as regent of Portugal de jure from 1656 until 1662, and de facto until her death in 1666.
Tumblr media
Luisa was Spanish by birth, the daughter of Juan Manuel Pérez de Guzmán, 8th Duke of Medina Sidonia, and Juana Lorenza Gomez de Sandoval y la Cerda. Her paternal grandfather was the renowned Alonso de Guzmán, "El Bueno".
Tumblr media
She married a high ranking Portuguese noble João, 8th Duke of Braganza in 1633, during the period of the Iberian Union.
Despite her Spanish roots, the ambitious, willful and ruthless Luisa guided her husband's policies during the Portuguese revolution against Habsburg Spain of 1640. She is considered the main influence behind his acceptance of the Portuguese throne when the Revolution seemed to tend to the Portuguese side. It is said that being warned of the dangers of becoming queen of a country that was to face Spain's might she pronounced the famous words:
“Antes Rainha um dia que Duquesa toda a vida.”
“Rather Queen for a day than Duchess all my life.”
In some sources this is quoted as for an hour instead of for a day.
When she was made aware of a failed attempt to murder the King in 1641, she is said to have been one of the members of the Corte, which supported the execution of nobles like the Duke of Caminha.
Tumblr media
In 1656, she was named Regent of the Kingdom after her husband's death and during the minority of her son Afonso VI. She continued to occupy the post even after Afonso became an adult in 1662, because her son was mentally unstable. She was the target of a failed conspiracy headed by Luís de Vasconcelos e Sousa, Count of Castelo Melhor.
Tumblr media
She defended the principles of freedom and independence of Portugal and controlled the government with a strong hand, fearing her eldest son was incapable and hoping that eventually her youngest son would take the crown.
Tumblr media
Luisa was politically astute and mainly responsible for the diplomatic success of the new alliance with England. Her daughter Catarina married Charles II of England. She is also credited with the organization of the armies that in the following years would completely ensure Portuguese independence through the victories in the Portuguese Restoration War.
Her remains rest in the Bragança Pantheon:
Tumblr media
She had 7 children with King João IV
Infante Teodósio, Prince of Brazil (8 February 1634 – 13 May 1653) died unmarried.
Ana of Bragança (21 January 1635) died at birth.
Infanta Joana, Princess of Beira (18 September 1635 – 17 November 1653) died unmarried.
Catarina of Bragança (25 November 1638 – 31 December 1705) married Charles II of England and had no surviving issue.
Manuel of Portugal (6 September 1640) died at birth.
Afonso VI of Portugal (21 August 1643 – 12 September 1683) married Maria Francisca of Savoy.
Pedro II of Portugal (26 April 1648 – 9 December 1706) married firstly Maria Francisca of Savoy, had issue; married secondly Maria Sophia of Neuburg, had issue.

Sharp Objects
I loved the book so much so I was excited and ready to watch this series. Both are incredible works of art.
-Brilliant performances from Amy Adams. She really effectively showed Camille’s strength and the power in her vulnerabilities.
-Patricia Clarkson does an amazing job playing Adora. Showed the subtle sharp tongue words to life and brought the goosebumps to me just as she did in the book.
-Eliza Scanlen!! She nailed Amma holy crap. I would argue she made her even creepier than Amma is in the book. So well done. “Don’t tell Mama”. And the fact that she’s Australian in real life but pulls of that southern accent so well.
-I love that they added more to the character Alan. The addition to his love for records and how they help/heal him. We really see him feeling the eeriness, that doesn’t get to come through in the book.
-Feel the same about Frank Curry and Eileen. In the book we really start to feel their closeness towards the end and how they care a lot. In this series it’s so much more and from the very beginning you see how much they mean to Camille and her recovery. I absolutely loved them both so much. Also Miguel Sandoval has such an amazing voice.
-Jackie plays a much bigger role in this series and I thought that was an excellent choice. Elizabeth Perkins did a wonderful job.
-Sophia Lillis was an amazing young Camille. Her facial expressions tell so much, she is excellent.
-Chief Vickery and Detective Richard Willis were similar to how I expected them to be from the book. Though I wish they let Richard show more emotions, he shows a bit more in the book.
-Alice’s character was a good addition to the series. Really put into perspective Camille’s relationships even more, and was interesting seeing the background into Camille’s cracked phone.
-The editing!! So excellent. I love the use of quick cuts to show snippets of the flashbacks and effectively display Camille’s worrying thoughts. Lovely cinematography as well. The editors and cinematographers did such a wonderful job I was delighted the entire time. The storytelling was excellent.
-The town they filmed in really did feel like WindGap. Excellent production value. The town’s darkness and old feel, were amazing. It was even better than how I pictured it in my head when reading.
-This show makes me wanna rollerskate around my town.
-Makeup department did a wonderful job with Camille’s scars. The way they showed Vanish at the end of that episode was poetic cinema.
-The music in the series is amazing. I love the theme song, Dance and Angela its so creepy and enchanting. Also love Tumbling Lights.
-Was fun seeing Jackson Hurst in this show in brief times his character appears. I loved Jackson in Drop Dead Diva.
